East Coast Fish & Chips in Orangeville

We ordered a family pack for take out and there was hardly enough to feed 2 people. The price for the amount of food you get was outrageous.

Very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Haddock and Chips, nearest thing to British fish and chips I ve had in Canada. Also, for all you ex pats, this guy makes real mushy peas. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing fish. The batter was thin and crispy. But the fish was fantastic. An actual thick slice of real fish. Owners are very friendly and welcoming.

Fish and fries were excessively greasy, all tasted like fish that had gone bad. Is it old oil? Not hot enough oil to cook without making food greasy? Or a bit of both? Service was friendly and the place seemed to be clean.

Stopped in for the first time for lunch. Haddock was fresh with a good batter. Good chat with the proprietor, and I will certainly visit again next time in town

Delicious, authentic Nova Scotia style fish an chips. If you close your eyes, youd think youre sitting right at Peggys Cove! Coleslaw was delish! Just wish it was a bigger serving. A lemon slice with fish would be a nice touch, too. Excellent service! Highly recommend!

I traveled from GTA a week ago had the Saturday special cod and chips take out, was really tasty. The gentleman was very courteous at the counter. Overall nice experience wasnt busy at the noon time.

Llevo this place! It is a hidden gem with lots of character. The fish was tasty, will cooked and flakey. The battery was perfectly crisp and not to thick. Fries were good, I would have liked a bit more coleslaw but that is just my taste. The tartar sauce child have used a bit more tangyness and you dont get a lemon wedge with your fish. The owner is nice and pleasant getting and serving with a big smile. He likes to converse and engage with his customers. The place is clean and the washrooms although old looking they are clean, bit reflection of a kitchen cleanliness. The decor is simple and has grown with the business as clients have contributed to the place with memorabilia, just watch that it does not turn into a mismatch. Loved the fish here, I would certainly come again!!!

Over committed on Good Friday to simply upset many families by not delivering. Calling many days in advanced to place an order to only find out they could not even come close to meeting pickup time. Extremely disorganized. Would have appreciated them to say no when I called so that I could have secured my family dinner at a more responsible establishment.

One of the best fish and chip places we have been to and we have been to many. If I could give them a 10 out of 5, I would! Good portion of fish and chips. Chips tasted homemade, fish was great and coleslaw delicious. Even the malt vinegar was better than anywhere we have been, a better concentration so you could really taste it on the chips. Very reasonable price. The service was excellent. Definitely worth the drive to Orangeville. We will be back!

The most disgusting fish and chips I ve ever had I came her with my wife and kids and was treated badly the place was filthy the food was terrible and the bosses look like they are running for their lives one day they are in then 5days they are not.

Visited for lunch and ordered the jumbo scallops, haddock lunch special with chip dressing and gravy. Everything was delicious. Batter was light, crispy and not greasy and the fries were fresh cut. The daily specials are a great value and will definitely be returning.

Great fish and chips and their homemade tartar sauce is the best Ive found in Ontario. 5 types of fish for a wide price range.

We stopped in for lunch on a day trip, and ordered the haddock special and the chili (forgot to take photos). The food was amazing - so delicious! The chili (which comes with a soft buttered bun) was really well seasoned and really hit the spot a cold day. The haddock was fresh and crispy, and the homemade tartar sauce was a real highlight. The atmosphere here is super cozy and the owner Alex makes you feel very welcome - stopping to chat and answering all our questions. We will definitely be back, this place has great food at super reasonable prices.

Traditional shop to have some great fish and chips

Visited East Coast for a little family luncheon and was pleasantly surprised! It s such a quaint little place, and a bit on the smaller side, but the food they serve makes up for that! They accommodated a last minute group of 8 people and the service was stellar! I don t remember the name of the waitress, but she was so kind, friendly, and played along with my crazy family. We ordered the Sunday Haddock Special which was $8.99, and a soup of the day which was the fish chowder. The beer batter on the fish wasn t too heavy, and the soup itself was so flavourful. Great portions for the price of the dish, and top quality. Highly recommend East Coast for Fish Friday, or any time of day you d like some delicious fish.

Just happened upon this place and saw the sign that said best fish and chip so we tried it out. Greeted by a gentleman with a welcoming smile. We got the daily special of cod and chips with a side of gravy. It was fantastic! Fish portion was good. Fish quality was great. Fish batter was the best - Light layer with the perfect amount of crisp. Fries were ample and the gravy was fantastic. Will definitely go again.

I come from England and cant find decent fish and chips anywhere in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. I am spending a couple of days with a friend and I had fish and chips from here last night, and they were the best Ive had in 30 years. The Owner had a great sense of humour and his wife was lovely, too. I would recommend this place to anybody craving real British fish and chips.

Went today, Apr 29, 2023 ... the fish & chip and onion rings were excellent ... I had haddock and it was the very best Ive ever had, service was also excellent and our waitress did an amazing job, keeping our 5 kids happy along with 4 adults!! We had a great chat with Alex one of the owner, it was a very nice atmosphere and every one of us love our orders and they all came at the same time hot and tasty. My family and I discovered this awesome fish and chips restaurant only couple years ago, wish it was sooner!. The fish is top notch in reagards to quality of the fish and how it is cooked, perfectly crispy with beautiful fluffy steaming fish inside when you crack it open for a bite. The tartar sauce,fries,mushroom caps,slaw, are all awesome!. I brought my parents down from Midland hear for Fathers day weekend and they fell in love with this place and the freindly hospitality of the owners, actually said best they ever had and we have been all across ontario trying out fish and chips, gives that true east feel!. hi!! :) i just finished a meal here i found the fish and chips really good, very soft and tender! especially with tartar sauce, it was a really good meal. i should have taken pictures, however me and the rest of my family were too hangry and dug straight in. the ginger beer, not the be confused with ginger ale, was a very strong but tasty carbonated beverage to have as a side to the fish and fries. also, another cool thing to note is that all of their desserts are made in the establishment. both me, my mother, and my grandmother enjoyed their brownies with WHIPPED CREAM delicious!!! i also took peanut butter cookies to go, which i havent had yet, but i m sure will be just as good. thank you!!

My kids have been asking for months to stop and try and east coast fish and chips.. I asked about whether they cook shrimp together with the fish due to my selfish allergy and I felt that they were not very understanding. I never argued or asked for a special order... I just ordered one haddock for my kids and some fries and decided to eat at home incase I had any reaction. I received a very insensitive joke and was met with sarcasm when I explained my allergy. For future note: many people with selfish allergies enjoy eating haddock and halibut and if you cook everything in one batter thats fine we have to accept that. You dont need to take it personal or respond defensively. When you react this way you make your customers feel unwelcome..

Food was horrible fish and chips was a real disaster. There is a smell to their frying oil and even my hand got smell after touching. Chips are horrible and the fish are the same could not eat. Well I have been to other places in town so far the best is Townline fish & chips. I seen a lot of review here not sure those has been to other places in the city to see what is out there and compare. Do your self a flavor try other fish and chips places in the city and you will know the difference. Probably the present owner issue could be. I have to be honest so put my experience here. Thanks. Today, we once again visited East Coast Fish and Chips and enjoyed an exceptional meal. The food is consistently fresh, well prepared and tastes delicious. We are previous Orangeville residents and now visit every 4 to 6 weeks and always enjoy a fish and chip meal here. The owners and staff are always welcoming and friendly. We are particular about our fish and chip dinners and have yet to find a restaurant in our own area that equals East Coast Fish and Chips.

Being from England I m always on the hunt for traditional fish and chips. We tried East Coast for the first time and won t go anywhere else. The batter is so crispy and light, tastes great, good portion sizes and price is very reasonable. Owners are extremely friendly and go above and beyond for their customers!

I am a long time resident of Orangeville and have tried all the Fish and chip restaurants in town. I must say by far East Coast is the best in town for many reasons. The staff are exceptional, attentive , very friendly and make you feel a part of their family establishment , which is rare these days. They go out of their way to meet your requests. The food is amazing good quality fish and chips . The fish is done to perfection crispy and moist. The chips are a mound full and more than generous. You will not leave feeling hungry for sure. One of my all time favourites is the poutine again mound full of chips loaded with cheese curds and plentiful of gravy. If you have not tried this restaurant you should you will not be disappointed. By far the best fish and chips weve had in a long time! Weve tried all of the other fish and chip shops in Orangeville over the last couple of years and lately weve been disappointed with all of them, for various reasons (food quality, portion sizes, price for what you get). I will say that weve always had friendly service at all of the fish and chip shops in Orangeville though. Tonight we thought wed try East Coast because we havent ordered from there for a number of years. We were VERY happy with our entire experience! Very friendly service, quick pickup time (even on a Friday night!), delicious food, big portions, and a fair price comparable to all of the other places in town. We ordered 2 halibut and chips with dressing and gravy and a large coleslaw. I wasnt too keen on their house tartar sauce, but thats the only negative thing I have to say about it. Next time well order 2 halibut and 1 chip, as the chip portions were HUGE! Well definitely be making East Coast Fish and Chips our new regular spot!

My wife and I picked up Halibut and chips from East Coast for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The food was simply fantastic. I absolutely love the batter they use on the fish. We went back again last night and it was just as fantastic the second time. Everyone is so friendly. They are absolutely the best fish and chip restaurant in Orangeville, no question.

We ordered halibut, chips times 2, shrimp, scallops, poutine and 2 orders of chicken fingers and fries for our family of 5. I cannot say enough how delicious everything was and the great service provided. Great family venue for eat in or take out. The restaurant was spotless with great decor. Amazing food and a great experience. It was early afternoon and I had not had breakfast: I was hungry. I knew generic chain restaurant food wasn t going to cut it, unless I ordered double but then my stomach would hate me. I knew a good fish and chips restaurant would get the job done. Really glad I stopped by East Coast Fish & Chips because I had a great time meeting the owners and staff. It felt right saying more than two sentences to the people making food for me and then getting to tell them in person I enjoyed the meal. I ll be dropping in again on my next time through! Our meals were amazing and reasonably priced. The service was superb. Family owned. The owner made our fish and even came out to chat with us. They care if you enjoyed your meal and care to know their customers. Gave you that lovely small town personable feeling. We will definitely be back. Parking: Onsite parking.

Went for the first time with my work crew and I must say we were very impressed with the food,staff and experience we will now drive from brampton just to get a taste of that great east coast flavor

Not only was this one of the best fish and chips I ve had, but their desserts were amazing too! The haddock and chips are a must try as well as their sticky toffee pudding and cherry whipped cheesecake. We loved the cheesecake so much we finished it in the parking lot and went back for more.

We went there about an hour after opening, the food was DELICIOUS, the staff is VERY friendly, and prices are great, and the portions are huge! I would definitely recommend for anyone really. They have something for everyone! Even the kids bugged to go back for dinner! This place I would rate 5/5! Parking: 15-20 spots to park. Kid-friendliness: My kids are insane. The staff was so nice and understanding, they understand kids will be kids Wheelchair accessibility: There s no steps. Older or disabled people will have no problems getting inside.

We came from Waterloo for a ride on a beautiful day and we cant say enough with the experience we had from start to finish. The food was excellent and all the staff were extremely friendly. Their washroom facilities were very clean. The only disappointment I have is that I wish they were closer that we could go on a regular basis. We will definitely be back and if you havent tried their fish and chips you better put them on your radar. Again, thank you so much for the wonderful experience.

Had the pleasure this evening to finally try East coast and let me tell you, this little place on Townline deserves a 6th star. From the moment my spouse and I entered the staff were extremely friendly and made us feel at home. We both had halibut and poutine and the meal was amazing! The fish was cooked.perfectly with the perfect amount of golden crispy batter. Alex the owner is also an absolute gem of a human. He was so easy going and very friendly. Talking to Alex is like talking with family. If you want a.great meal, great service and even better company then stop on by and grab a bite at east coast. You will not be disappointed. See you next week East coast!

Kudos! This place is top notch!! Everything was amazing! Friendly fast service, very clean and great atmosphere. The owners are super sweet and very personable! The Fish n Chips (Big Haddock) were seriously the best I ve had! And no joke when they say Save room for dessert even if you take it to go! The homemade whipped cherry cheesecake is to die for! Should ve bought 2. Lol We will definitely return the next time we are in the area! Thank you!

The owner is great. They had a steady flow of business on a Friday night. Everything was hot, fresh, tasty. The fish portion was good and thick. The hamburgers were so juicy. Looking forward to next time. Parking: The parking space is enough for the restaurant, and for pick up orders. Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp into the restaurant.

I feel like I have been scammed. I ordered the 6 jumbo scallops and the 8oz Alaskan white (not battered). In total, I paid $21.75, plus tax and tip. The scallops cost $12.55 and the Alaskan white cost $9.20). Take a look at my picture would you be happy to know that you paid that much for that meal? Do those look like jump scallops? My fish is literally scrambled. How they served this is beyond me. It is embarrassing.

Happened to find this place while paying homage to someone special today. Owners were friendly and observing mask rules, which was nice. Ordered takeout. Pretty good! The batter was light enough. Huge portions. Well cooked and well wrapped. Way more satisfying than the miserable fish and chips I had in Peterborough at Jeff Purveys. Will be back the next time in Orangeville.
