Eclectic Café & Catering in Orillia

Stopped in for an impromptu lunch on Saturday. Wonderful Cubano, served hot and savoury. Very tasty Flat White. Parking: Street parking front and one side, as well as the library/opera house parking lot and lot behind. All are paid, the lot is cheaper by far than the street.

This place is incredibly delicious. Each time I ve been here, my mind has been completely blown. The service is really amazing too. I only wish their hours of operation were longer! We LOOOOOVE their food!!!!

After having a rather large breakfast in Midland, we werent terribly hungry when we got to Orillia. This little spot was highly recommended by a local. We ordered the special which was a delicious Western spiced soup with a toasted biscuit on the side. Great food and service.

Just wanted sandwiches for a Saturday lunch, and tried out the Eclectic Cafe. I had the Cubano Sandwich, and it was probably the best I have ever had (and Ive had quite a few!). C had the apple and brie sandwich and wasnt quite as impressed. Found it a bit cloying by the second half. Could have used some chicken or pea shoots to give it some freshness but it was exactly as advertised.

Second visit and we came back for the food only. While it is spotless and the decorations pleasing the noise level is irritating to the point of pain. I had to insert earplugs to be able to stay. We were also not impressed when a patron who was seated after us had her order taken and food delivered before us?? A small point, but why is the mirror in the washroom at the height of my stomach? I had to bend over to see my face and I am in no way considered tall.

Ive dined at Eclectic Cafe a few times now. I love the quality of their food however my gripe is that they force me to pay $1 for their take out container. A take out container is a cost of doing business. Their menu does not indicate anywhere that you will be charged additionaly to take out their food. I understand I can recoup the cost of the container by downloading an app but thats ridiculous. Dont pass the buck on to me. If you as a business choose to use a super expensive take out container, thats on you. Do I get a discount for not dining in the restaurant? For saving space in their dining room? For not using their dishes they have to wash?

Eggs Benedict is excellent. Staff are friendly. Family friendly restaurant plenty of space to park your stroller, if needed, and proper changing station in the bathroom.

Only complaint is you are not open earlier for morning lattes. Always fresh and outside the box ingredients. Love the vibe and their catering is out of this world. Best brunch in town. And take out frozen soup Yumm. Potato Bacon is a fav in our house with their tea biscuits. Pop them in over frozen and they are so moist. It s our Monday night staple. Keep up the hard work ladies. You re killing it !!!

Had an amazing lunch a yummy Reuben on a pretzel bun and the Cajun chicken on a toasted gluten free bun. Service was excellent and food delicious. Highly recommend!!

A local treasure, this is the best place to get sandwiches for lunch. The attention to flavor, use of local ingredients, and friendly staff make this a huge hit! They are also the best for catered work lunches and the containers they use are reusable/can be returned. Dietary restrictions: They can accomodate many dietary requests including dairy and gluten

Melanie and her team catered our wedding and the food was phenomenal. The entire experience was amazing, from our very first meeting with Mel, where she walked us through choosing a custom menu, to our fun evening where we experienced our tasting, all the way to the amazing food she prepared for our cocktail hour and our dinner. If you want a flawless experience with the most amazing food, we could not recommend Mel and her team enough. Thank you!!!!

Take home Blueberry scones. These instructions for baking are way way off ! Awful. Cooked then much longer than directed. Blueberries were tasteless. But I am used to wild blueberries. Given all of the hype around these very disappointing!

If you are looking for a caterer look no further. You have found THE team!!!! We went with Eclectic Café as our caterer for our Wedding in September 2022. We also hired Alana as our Day of Coordinator. We originally went with Eclectic because we were overwhelmed after receiving multiple quotes from other vendors that seemed to be missing pieces. Eclectic was the first vendor to say- call us so we can help. We had a call with them and they walked us through everything, and truly made the quoting process easy. Not to mention, they source local and to the season for their menu, another important part of our day. They listened to what we wanted and helped craft a menu that was beyond our dreams. On the actual day, Melanie and team did an amazing job with the food, our guests were truly in the presence of greatness. As for Alana as day of coordinator she went above and beyond, she showed up on the Friday before to help set up and truly made my life as the bride easier. She also attended rehearsal and coordinated with the officiant on the process. When it came to the actual day, Alana was a rock star, everywhere I turned she was there. After I finished walking down the aisle she had my sandals and a bottle of water waiting. At late night she sought us out and brought us the first round of food. She was absolutely amazing- not only did she think about the bride and groom she also thought about our parents. We truly can not thank this team enough for being apart of our day. The team cared as if we were close family, and their passion for what they do truly came through with my experience. So dont hesitate, just hire them.

What an amazing dinner created by Melanie and her staff. We all loved the buttermilk ranch dressing that accompanied the salad. We would definitely buy more dressing just to take it home. Since having a great dinner I now regularly stop in for some of their pastries and desserts! OMG

Cute café. Delicious food. Delightful chef and staff. Worth the stop. Had fun people watching through the window seat while I had the Im-Peck-Able Club today. Generous portion. Refreshing buttermilk dressing on the house salad. Yes, the 30 minute sit down lunch still exists, and you can do it here even when its pretty full/busy. Then I went to their retail shop next door and grabbed some baked goods and an artisan chocolate bar. There are also grab and go options for lunch and dinner in the fridge and freezer. And delicious hot and cold beverages.

Eclectic Café & Catering provided the catering for our wedding last month and we cannot recommend their food, services, and café in Orillia enough. Chef Mel and Alana made the process of selecting our wedding menu fun. We were so impressed with their process of creating a menu together with us based on our favourite dishes and flavours. We wanted good food to be one of the big highlights of our wedding and Chef Mel and her team knocked it out of the park--our friends and family continue to rave about our amazing family-style wedding meal. We were equally impressed with their lovely spot in Orillia when we attended our tasting. Chef Mel and Alana are truly a great team to work with and we are so grateful for the role they played in making our wedding the best day ever!

This is the best place for lunch or a quick treat from their store if you are on the go. When you buy your food here, you are also supporting local farmers and businesses, which I love. Staff are super kind and make some of the best food in Orillia.

The Eclectic catering team did an INCREDIBLE job catering our wedding. Mel and Alana created a one-of-a-king delicious menu that highlighted local and seasonal products. Our guests loved the food (especially the duck confit waffles and the vegetarian main). They were also so kind and patient answering all of our questions and went above and beyond helping us get our DIY bar and table rentals all sorted. 10/10 recommend for your next event! We also love stopping by for a coffee, treat, or lunch. Orillia is so lucky to have Eclectic cafe! Vegetarian options: Many great and varied veg options.

*Edit* After receiving a response from the owners, I would like to apologize for my one-star review. I erroneruously assumed it was the responsibility of the restaurant owners to update hours of operation on Google maps. No, I did not look at the website, as I didnt think I had to, as I assumed google would be correct. I work in the restaurant business, so I know how exhausting it can be, but I will say, we know that when we get into it. A business that closes when they say they will be open confuses the clientele, and the business is perceived as unreliable. I will change my review to 5 stars until I have had a chance to experience your restaurant. I dont want my review to negatively affect your overall score. *Edit* I made plans with a friend to do some christmas shopping, go for lunch, and support the downtown district. We were completely dismayed to learn most shops were closed. I would have thought that with only a couple weeks to christmas, shops would change their hours of operations. In addition to this disappointment, the restaurant we decided to try, the Eclectic Cafe, which was listed as open on Google Maps, was closed. We thought this was an error on line, but even the front door hours of operation sign listed them as being open on Mondays. However, in the window was a sign saying they were closed because they are tired. What the heck is that about? In my opinion, this is extremely unprofessional, and I didnt find it humorous. We ended up spending our money elsewhere and unfortunately will not have anything good to say about their business, which is a shame as I was really hoping to check out and support one of our locally owned businesses.

This place is top notch. Mel is the best in town by far in her craft. Soup and a sandwich is always my go to. But anything she makes is just wonderful. I have given this a 5 star, but I d give it 10 if I could.

Love this little spot. Probably one of the better coffee s in Orillia. The price point is slightly above average, but for great product, so . Their menu looks fun and tasty, but I can t speak to that end as I haven t tried their food. The staff are always friendly, and with good coffee, that s a win in my book. Have been several times and will continue to visit. Visited again last week, (Early February 2022) with my better half .Everything was so delicious that I had to call them to let them know how I felt. I hate talking on the phone, this is something I almost never do, but I felt like I had to in this case. If you haven t been here yet, WHAT are you waiting for ?!?!?

I very recently placed a small order for catering from Eclectic Cafe. To say it was better than my expectations is an understatement. The trays were wonderful. Everyone commented favourably on both the presentation and the beautiful variety on the charcuterie platter. It was exquisite. I would highly recommend Eclectic Cafe to anyone for both in-house dining and catering. You will not be disappointed.

Went for lunch today with my husband and enjoyed it very much. The daily soup was excellent. The biscuits that came with the soup were absolutely delicious! I would return simply for a bowl of soup and biscuit. I ordered the un-Brie-leavable sandwich with the house salad; and my husband ordered the Cubano with the chips and dip. My only recommendation would be to use a little less dressing in the salad. But take that with a grain of salt. It was really not a big deal and will not withhold me from returning. We are looking forward to trying other menu items on our next visit and ensuring we have room to try dessert. This place is really worth trying! Also, to be safe make a reservation. Enjoy!

Amazing catering to a wedding and equally stunning brunch the next morning in store. Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere with a large variety of food and drinks to choose from.

Mel and her staff make the most flavourful, delectable meals. They use the best ingredients. The menu changes four times a year to ensure that the ingredients they use are in season. They use mostly local ingredients and that really impacts the flavour and value of what they serve.

While passing through Orillia I was just looking for a quick bite. Randomly I choose Eclectic Cafe to stop by and what a surprise... The staff was very friendly and service impeccable but the wow factor was when ordered food arrived. Fresh ingredients and very tasty. We had a sandwiches with the soup of the day (asparagus). Everything was amazing and very, very clean! For sure this is a gem in Orillia even just as passer by not knowing other places this town has to offer I do not think that they can be beat. HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

My wife and I stopped at this place after a stroll through the downtown on Saturday morning while Orillia had the road closed off for the downtown area. Plenty of shopping and unique venders at the curb side. The brunch was perfect. Just a salad and a sandwich but very tasty. Good coffee and nice selection of deserts. Most of all really pleasant staff and good service. The place is spotless. Super clean. Highly recommend to grab a bite to eat there. We are Lucky to have a place like Eclectic in our town.

Eclectic Cafe catered our wedding this past weekend and if I could give them more than 5 stars I would! The food was absolutely incredible and our guests have been raving about it ever since. On top of this they made the process leading up to the wedding completely seamless, they had every detail organized and made it all so easy for us! Highly recommend!!!!

Amazing food. The food Melanie puts out is incredibly fresh even during winter! The carrot cake my wife and I had as dessert was probably the best Ive had. Such a unique concept up here to have menus that change through the year and keeping everyone on their toes ready to try something new. If youre the type of person that likes to be engaged by food and try new things I would recommend Eclectic Cafe hands down.

What a find! If I could give out a sixth star in this review, I absolutely would. The food was incredible and Chef Mel Robinson put on a dazzling display for our breakfast that blew our expectations out of the water. This Sausage Hash featured flavourful veggies and proteins. Its a must-try if youre in Orillia.

We hired Eclectic Cafe for our 100 person wedding and they were incredible! Mel is an amazing chef who produced a fabulous, locally sourced menu and Alana was such a pleasure to work with. They created something that was truly us and they were so well organized and accessible throughout the process. There were many situations where they truly went above and beyond. Everything was perfect, would definitely recommend!

We ordered charcuterie and appetizers for a ladies weekend to celebrate some birthdays. Alana advised me how much food to order and suggested which items would keep better given I was picking up in a.m. and not serving until p.m. I was totally impressed at the presentation of the platters when I came to pick up. She nailed the quantity (I would have ordered way too much) and on top of that, the food was DELICIOUS. What a treat. Well do this again - thank you!

I learned of Eclectic Cafe when going to an anniversary party in Orillia. I am blown away of the quality of the food and the charcuterie boards were so well presented and tasty. Owners of the business are very friendly and willing to accommodate clients needs. The risotto presented so good! Definitely / highly would recommend this place. The duck on the waffle is amazing!

We went there today for lunch and it was amazing!! I disclosed my food allergies (assuming I wouldn t be able to eat much) and after the server spoke with the chef I could have almost anything on the menu or have things easily adjusted to work. My food was delicious, service is amazing! It s very busy so if you re on a time crunch call ahead or make a reservation. The chef came out after and went table to table asking everyone if they enjoyed their meal. It s my second trip and I ll be back many more times. Foods amazing and service is excellent.

What a lovely little spot! I had the sausage hash and a cup of coffee. Coffee was fresh, food was flavorful and was full of vibrant colors. The salt shakers on the tables MUST collect dust, no need for that flavor boost here! Everything is locally sourced as well, A++! I recommend this great place to whoever is in the Orillia area.

What a Jewel! My wife took me here about a month ago and it was amazing. I had the ginger snap soup and the Cubano. The soup was to die for, each spoonful hugged my tongue with the love of a 1000 grandmothers, the sandwich was stacked high with tasty pork and pemale bacon, it was simple wholesome hearty and tasty. I finished it off with the chocolate tarte and that was a taste of heaven. You can definately tell that you are eating the food of a Chopped Canada Chef, the quality of the food and the experience comes through. This is and absolute jewel of an experience in our downtown core. If you are visiting you ha e to try it, if you live here you have to try it and then go back, you wont regret it!

We had the double smoked salmon and it was PERFECT, along with the potatoes and veggies. The capers were surprisingly huge and delicious - I feel like i could eat endless amounts of it and I had never seent hem that big. Also had their sausage which was really nice wth a fresh salad on the side. You can taste the pride and love in her food. Must check it out if youre in Orillia.

The coffee was alright. I really liked the venue. I found the lady working the counter to be quite loud and overpowering making it difficult to speak with the company I had with me. Although I m sure the lady is quite nice, there is a fine line between chatting up customers and imposing on people s privacy. ** I ve since returned and absolutely love the new location ! We had dinner at The Eclectic Cafe tonight. It was absolutely delicious and very creatively done. The lobster appetizer was beautifully done and was plenty for two. Mushroom pasta...wow. Terrific manager, chef and staff.

Had the Thou shall not pasta.. Was very pleased with the quality of the ingredients. Visted Orillia for the first time today (coming from Mississauga) and was lucky enough to spot this neat little cafe. I wish the chef/owner nothing but success. Would come here again when i come back.

This place is absolutely amazing!!! Went today and had the Philly Dip and it was out of this world. Its everything you want a sandwich to be...the meat was melt in your mouth, the bun was perfect and the peppers, mushrooms were cooked to perfection. The place was spotless and the staff were extremely friendly which topped off the whole experience.

Dropped in for just a cup of coffee. Way too expensive for just a regular drip coffee. The host mentioned there is a refill... still not impressed.

I met a friend there today for a light lunch and a visit. Absolutely loved our meals and cannot wait to try EVERYTHING on the menue! Well done!

Just the beautiful warm-hearted feeling once you enter this place if you enjoy your me-time or beautiful weekend with your pals sipping some coffee and enjoying delicious confectionery or maybe for a delicious bowl for lunch. Best place. Loved it. The chef comes and greets all the guests is the most touching part. Felt so welcomed. Thank you for such an amazing experience.

Absolutely warm and welcoming environment. Clean. Staff was so prompt and thoughtful. The food was incredible. I would like some of the chip dip to bring home please!! Yummy. The Ruben was unreal. Also was so impressed that I didnt even need salt or pepper for the other dish. Perfectly seasoned. Absolute gem in town. 5 ALL DAY LONG!!! Thank you Melanie and to your wonderful team.

Excellent food great service.

First visit, was very impressed. The curry butternut squash soup was exceptional. Small menu but varied and interesting. Locally sourced food and the chef (and owner) won an episode of Chopped Canada. Unique location in a century building in an antique mall, Carousel Antiques.

A really cool spot for lunch. Soup, salads and sandwiches are all excellent. Try the blueberry scone if it is available. Best part of the meal is the staff!

Melanie and Miranda take awsome care of you . Food is always excellent. They serve an excellent dairy-free ice cream. We are always greeted with a warm smile.

Not a bad place. Didnt eat but had coffee instead. Friends had food and loved it. Looked great! Not a place to grab coffee as they only do coffee (or tea. No lattes, espresso, etc) and I wasnt a fan of the coffee either. But food was apparently amazing!

So freaking good. I had the Bahn Mel and added some chilli sauce. Holy craps it was good.
