Fantastic place for a medium to small dinning experience. We brought a party of six. Everyone enjoyed the food, wine and service... Three of us had a seafood pasta, two veal, one had pesto. All were prepared beautifully. Service was impeccable... I would say there is only one thing I could see for improvement. The washrooms need a full remodel. Not they were not kept well and clean... Just functionally. Cosmos looks like our favourite restaurant in Orillia so far.
Wow these people that work here are beyond rude. Hung up when trying to change a reservation time as my husband was travelling home from out of town however wanted to take me out for our anniversary dinner. We got all dressed up and called as we were going to be a few minutes late and again the woman was rude. She said she would ask the kitchen. Came back to the phone moments later and said that the ten minutes we were late the kitchen would be closed by the time we arrive. Our reservation was for 8:30 and arrival time on our GPS was 8:40. The Website says the restaurant is open till 10pm. We turned around and went to the keg. Socked how rude and unaccommodating they were. My parents have been regular customers at this restaurant for years and recommended this place. We will be sure to let them know how unwelcome we felt and encourage them to dine somewhere else as well in future.
Our server Mary Lou was absolutely amazing. We are traveling from out-of-town and would drive the three hours back just for this restaurante. Cocktails, appetizers, mains, desert were all awesome. Highly recommend as service was perfect.

The meal was awesome, truly enjoyed the seafood pasta. Our server was also a lot of fun and topped off a great meal with friends. They've been around a long time for a reason... the atmosphere is cozy there too.
We were looking for a dine-in option for lunch and came across Cosmo's. We ordered two kinds of pasta and I highly recommend the scallop pasta. The crème brûlée was delicious, creamy and not too sweet. However, the highlight of the meal was the calamari appetizer. I could've just had that as a meal with a basket of bread and I would've been happy. Our server was Marilou and not only was she lovely but listen to her menu recommendations - you won't regret it. They should actually have a Marilou's Favourites section in the menu because everything she suggested was delicious.
Simply delicious! Had the calamari for an appetizer, which was not fried but was in a delicious, flavourful broth. I had the shrimp and crab pasta, and it was by far the best bowl of pasta I've ever tried. Our waitress was great, and very knowledgable about the menu. Will definitely be coming back!
This place atmosphere is great and our waitress was friendly and knew the specials. The salad to start was the typical Caesar. My main was veal parmigan and I must say it tasted like they put in the microwave to reheat it and bring it to my table. The vegetables were great but after that experience I am not sure I will be back. The waitress at the end didn't ask how the meal was or I would of said politely this feedback.

Quaint Italian restaurant in the heart of Orillia. Bruschetta had a really nice flavour. Veal parmigiana was light and tender. The finish it off a cup of their cafe latte was light and creamy.

Wonderful Italian restaurant. My wife and I came here recently and really enjoyed the experience. The food was excellent. The service is great. And the ambience is exactly what you would want frkm an Italian restaurant. We will definitely be coming back here!

Went to Cosmos tonight for dinner. It was amazing. Food and service was top notch. Havent been anywhere for awhile so decided on Cosmos tonight. So glad we did. Had pickerel and was the best I have had. Please fine local. Cant find anything any better. Desert was delicious

Always a treat going there. Wonderful appetizers, the house shrimp has a fantastic garlic, Pernod sauce. No worrys over going in to dine as they are following the heath recommendations.
Nothing bad but not that great either. Way to much garlic in all the dish so hard to taste anything else. Not fine dining either, everything was done with finest.

Enjoyed our lunch. It was very tasty. Just a couple of aspects that could be improved. The salad had lettuce that was going black and slimy and short on guts in salad.
The food tastes so rich and tantalizing to your taste buds. The service was very professional, well knowledge on menu and attentive.

The flavours, the ambiance and the wine! Cosmo Dominelli is likely the best chef in town. If you want a fine dining experience with reasonable prices this is your spot. Walk to anywhere in downtown Orillia from this centrally located restaurant. Mary Lou served us the last time we were there. She was gracious, knowledgeable and just plain fun to have as our conduit to the kitchen. The kitchen that just kept pumping out deliciousness. My wife has already put in her request for our next date night and its Cosmos.
Attended for the first time for our anniversary; had reservations for a booth and arrived an hour early. No problem and seated quickly. Waitress was Marilou who was great. I had chicken parm and wife had lemon chicken; both were amazing.( She also had lobster bisque soup which was good) Ambiance was great as was the food and wait staff.Clean restaurant and the a/c was working perfectly. We found our new favourite restaurant in Orillia! Will definitely be back for a special date! Thank you..A+++
We are visiting Orillia by boat and I saw this restaurant while walking in town. The wine menu is limited, but we enjoyed our red wine sold by the glass. The food was below average for a restaurant of this caliber. I ordered the lasagna and my partner ordered veal Marsala. The Marsala wine sauce was very dry, almost bitter. The atmosphere is very nice, the servers are attentive and knowledgeable; with a little effort on the menu and preparation this could be a wonderful restaurant.

Had another great meal at Cosmos and our waitress was awesome as well! (I think her name was Mary Jo?) Service was fast, great atmosphere and food. If you havent been, I would highly recommend you do!
Great food but noisy
A good experience with my wife and inlaws. Good service and a nice spot. Three of us had good food. I did not. Avoid the veal parmesan! The meat was dry and the tomato sauce was too close to canned to be salvageable. And I suspect the cheese sauce was just melted mozzarella. Embarrassing!! Avoid it. My wifes veal with mushroom sauce was much better. I asked for caesar salad as a substitute and was happily accommodated (thumbs up!) but it was put on, and under(!!!) the veal. Hot food and salad DO NOT MIX! Plus the dressing was weak and almost nonexistent. The salad was one of the worst Ive had in years. I recommend avoiding their caesar salad also. My plate was half full of food when I was finished as I didnt eat the salad and I had pushed all the sauce off the veal so I could eat it. The server did bring me some house made spicy pepper mix to help with the veal(very good) but threatened to charge me for it!, ultimately not doing so( good choice- that would have been a slap in the face). A bit of detail I hope will help you when dining here.
Took my date here and my god it was horrible. The food arrived very late, took about 45 minutes though we didn t mind. My food however was horrible, the pasta I got was plain, overly oiled. My date s meal was essentially poured in with wine, under seasoned, and her veggies were under cooked. On top of that our main waitress, essentially ignored us. So we asked one of the side waiter to get us the desert menu, he took 20 minutes just walking around very confused. Finally the waitress came to us WITHOUT the desert menu. We got upset and left.

We originally had reservations at the Keg for our anniversary but then my husband suggested we support local so we moved our reservation to Cosmos. We were then asked to pay an addition $12.00 to switch from tomato sauce to an Alfredo ... We can t wait for our next dinner at the Keg.

So I went to Cosmos back in May for an anniversary dinner with my fiancé. We wanted to do something special and thought Cosmos would be the best place to go. We got our reservation and honestly as we are a younger couple didnt expect the best of service as we understand what it look like for us to be in that kind of restaurant. This being said I had probably the worst service I have ever experienced in my life. Our waitress acted as if we didnt belong there what so ever, was completely indifferent to anything. Issue started when we got sat in the corner of the restaurant right near the window which has a constant draft. Followed by waiting for a fairly long time to order our drink. At this point we were looking at the menus and as we heard the same waitress go over the specials with every single person around us. Apparently we were not good enough to hear them. We had to wait exceptionally long times for anything we wanted to order and every time we did they had the look that we were wasting their time. When it finally came to order desert we started to get the feeling like we should just leave as the whole experience was so bad. Now this is where it really begins to be an issue, 1 the food was fantastic I can not say that enough we loved everything. However with the way the service we got was it ruined our entire dinner. I honestly had such high hopes going here expecting to have a great dinner and everything. In the end we got worst service then if we went to McDonalds. Due to all of this we unfortunately will not go back. If you are planning to go to Cosmos as a younger person or couple and can handle being looked at as if you shouldnt even exist definitely give it a try, however if you cant dont go.

Six of us dined at the restaurant this past Saturday and all thought that the meals and the service were top notch! Our server did a great job and the food was better than that of most Italian restaurants in the GTA.
We dont come here often because we consider it a treat. Tonight we dined with two great friends. The waitress was amazing and so was the food! Bistecca de mare....bang on like always. Thank you for another excellent dining experience. See you at New Years!! John and Tracey

Good food, deplorable service. Half hour wait to get a drink, we were ready to order it meals at the same time as it drink and the server told us it wasnt our turn to order because there were other tables ahead of us.

Don t go there! It s the worst Italian restaurant I ve ever been... I asked spaghetti with vegetables, but I ve found a lot of different things in my plate besides of spaghetti. It looked like they collected food from different plates into the one... Terrible!
My wife and I went into Cosmo,s for dinner ;the place was empty the Older lady said no reservation I can not help you , Not a nice person , I guess they can afford to send customers away ,terrible customer service!!!!!!!!!! Good luck in the winter !!!!!!!
After 20 years, even though I dont get there as often as if like, it continues to be my favourite restaurant in Orillia. Absolutely fantastic food.

Had a wonderful evening with great service. Started with garlic bread that was delicious and enjoyed a wonderful pasta entree. The creme brulee was a wonderful top off to the meal.
What a lovely peaceful place to go for an extra special meal. Service is expert. The food is plentiful and cooked and plated wonderfully. Enjoy.

EXCELLENT! My wife and I are from out of town and were on our way to Casino Rama. We thought we would look for a place to have dinner, so we drove through downtown Orillia and saw Cosmos. We were looking for someplace nice to celebrate our 44th year anniversary, so we tried it out. From the moment we walked in the the door, we liked the decor and atmosphere and the pleasant greeting we received. We do eat out very frequently at many different places and I can tell you that the food here was excellent. I had the pasta dish and my wife had the Atlantic salmon. The service was also very good and we didnt have to wait very long for our dinners. I would highly recommend Cosmos for a fine dinning outing. Their prices are nomal for this class of restaurant $20-$40. which with todays price of beef(steak), is very fair. By the way, Im also a Level 3 Reviewer on Trip Advisor and feel I know what a good eating establishment is and Cosmos definitely is. Go there for your next nice dinner out, I guarantee you will be pleased you did.

We spent New Years Eve-2016 in this restaurant with a group of friends. The food was good and our server friendly but the whole experience seemed rushed and chaotic. We were told near the end of our meal that we needed to leave quickly as our two hour window was up. I checked with the friend who made the booking. He said he was not informed of this two hour limit when he made the booking. The staff seemed overwhelmed. There were at least 12 people waiting to be seated in a narrow entrance hallway where we were trying to get our coats and boots on. Two of the staff were quite rude to us and one other couple in our group implying that it was a bother to box up leftovers. We will not be returning to this establishment.

I had the seafood linguini in a cream sauce and my wife had the jumbo shrimp and crab in a tomato rose sauce a.The cream was a little watery but the taste was amazing! I usually dont really like a tomato based sauce but with the crab it was INCREDIBLE!!! I recommend this restaurant with an A!

This is my wife and my favorite restaurant in Orillia. We always have a great meal and are treated very well here. My wife loves the lasagna and i love the Vitello Di Mare. Im sure other things are good on the menu as we have never ran across anything that wasnt superb, however i cant get beyond Vitello Di Mare. The prices are moderate as you get what you pay for. The Lumache is also something we never do without.
