3 for atmosphere, just because its by the lake

I had a reservation for 12 noon. For 6 people. We ordered our food after a lengthy wait. Server came back to tell us no soup left! But the ladies beside us had soup. Who came as a walk in. There was other people getting their food before us. Love the view but we wont be back.

Very nice ambiance and excellent service.

Arrived at another restaurant in Orillia on Nov.2nd. However, the reservation we thought we had did not exist. After a few anxious moments we phoned other restaurants in the downtown. Upon contacting Fare, the response was give us 20 minutes and we will fit you in. Our evening out for our group of six was saved. The food was excellent, service terrific and friendly. One slight error which staff corrected. My wife asked for a box to take home part of her dinner. By error someone tossed out her plate. Staff promptly made another meal and boxed it up. Above and beyond, thank you very much.

Food was great, beer was cold, service was fast, and a nice view from their patio. What more could you ask for.

Not impressed with the service at all. Employees at the door discussed tables instead of greeting us at the entrance. The bench I sat at was broken. The waiter could not describe the ingredients the fish came with (explained he didn t like fish!). Bathroom light was broken. Restaurant was cold. Only redeeming thing was the food! Will not be back.

Fare provided a lovely brunch experience this past summer. Our server was pleasant and humorous and added to our experience. Food was simply delightful, and our portions the perfect size. The view from the patio is beautiful and calming.

My partner and I visited this restaurant last night with my brother and sister in law around 7pm on Saturday. I have been a couple of times before but the rest of my party hadnt been so I reccomended it. It was busy when we arrived but there were open tables on walk in. The waitress quickly greeted us to take our drinks. We waited atleast half an hour to even recieve our drinks, when she came back at one point we ordered apps. (Nachos and scallops) we sat for an hour and fifteen minutes before we recieved our apps. The apps were good but we would of ate anything at that point because we were starving. We had asked the waitress what was happening and she mentioned the kitchen was busy. Our food took another almost hour to come out and we all found it to be very average at best and for the cost of the meals we were expecting much more. The risotto was very unappealing and was so runny a spoon was needed to eat it. Ive never seen a risotto look like that in my life. The server only apologized for the wait times after we had made several comments and seemed unbothered that we werent having a good experience. It was very disappointing and was a 300 dollar night out we will not get back.

Love the location, love the patio, love the food and it s the only place in town to get a real martini! Jackie was so accommodating and had very great attention to detail when taking orders! Overall would 100% recommend going before the patio closes to get the full lakeside dining experience - they ever have blankets and heaters on the patio!! Will be returning

My friends and I recently went to Fare for dinner before a show at the Casino. The food was delicious, as it always is at Fare. It was a busy night and they were training new staff, so the service was understandably slow - we had time for dessert before our show, so we had ordered it and had asked for the bill to be brought so we could pay ASAP. Unfortunately, after 20-30mins, neither the bill or the desserts had been brought over. We weren t upset at all, but we had gotten up and asked at the bar for the desserts to be removed from the bills, and to not bring them out, so that we could head out and be on time for our show. The staff were so kind and apologetic, even though they didn t need to be as it was no one s fault. The manager was extremely generous and gave us a gift card to be used the next time we came. Overall, despite the hiccups, it was a fantastic experience. Best restaurant in Orillia :)

Ive been waiting almost a month to hear back from the owners I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent dining experience. After waiting for nearly an hour to be seated and served our appetizers, I informed the waitress of my allergy and requested that the chorizo be served on the side. Unfortunately, when our order arrived, we discovered midway through the meal that there was chorizo mixed in with the mussels. The waitress apologized and suggested that the chef might not have cleaned the pan properly. She also asked if I had an EpiPen, which I do not, as it is not a type of allergy that can be addressed with an EpiPen, however I can be hospitalized due to my allergy. This experience was highly disappointing and raised serious concerns about the restaurants attention to food allergies and customer safety.

Went with my family and my parents for Sunday brunch on the patio on a sunny day, and it was an amazing experience. Menu items for brunch were mostly $22 - $25, but give or take a little more for some items. After tasting a bite from my family members meals, I would give the food 4 stars because the chicken sandwich and the hamburger were good but not great, and the nuts used in the house salad were not fresh, but the other food was truly excellent. I was particularly impressed with the potaffle Benedict, the French toast, and the one my dad ordered that I cant remember exactly but it had pancakes. Cocktails did not really taste like they had much if any alcohol in them and were really loaded with ice, so not good value. The view from the patio is gorgeous on a sunny summer day: the lake, the wild swans, the woods, the mansions, Leacock House... WOW! Overall, in spite of a few shortcomings, this was an amazing dining experience that could be had for a price that was well worth it.

Absolutely a fabulous place for dinner. The food, the service and atmosphere were terrific. We never felt rushed. An all round great experience. Best Beef short rib I ve ever had. My wife s shrimp and mussels were delicious.

Amazing food

We came here for an anniversary drink and sat on the patio and couldnt have enjoyed it more! The cocktails and mocktails were exceptional and they even offered us a dessert as it was our anniversary. Brandon our server was excellent! He was personable and accomodating with suggesting mocktail options and we hope to get him the next time we stop by. Thanks Brandon!

This restaurant is so beautiful and has an amazing view of the water. The food is also incredible. The only bad part of our experience here was the service in general. We were there Wednesday August 7th at around 11:30 am, and to begin the hostess at the front was not very warm or welcoming. Our server s name was Olivia, and was polite and friendly, however when we sat down there was only about 3 or 4 other tables and it still took about 10-15 minutes for our first drink to arrive. The servers would disappear from the patio for about 10 minutes at a time even though there were no tables inside. Once we got our food, we asked for ketchup from 2 different servers and still ended up having to go inside to ask again and get it ourselves as they had both forgotten. Being a server myself I would absolutely understand the delays if it was busy, but this was not the case. Overall I recommend this restaurant but hope the service improves in the future.

Great food, but a bit expensive

Delicious food in a beautiful setting. But the service was indifferent. I was always trying to catch a servers eye and the lack of service left a bad taste in my mouth.

A sweet and delicious drink and meal menu selection. The place is peaceful with an amazing view to the lake. It was a perfect lunch break for our road trip The only hiccup is the tips selection on card reader start at 20%. Staff was welcoming and service was great they deserve a proper tip but 20% after tax is above reasonable Food

Good atmosphere. Service was very slow considering there was only us and one other table. The servers were very friendly. The food was not good. We got the burger and fried chicken. The burger was burnt and the parmesan and garlic fries had no flavour. The Fried chicken was cold and came with one soggy chicken thigh. Based on the reviews we were excited about trying Fare but unfortunately based on our experience we will not be returning.

The food was great with many options from BBQ to seafood. I thought the band did a good job covering The Hip. Parking: The parking at this beach on any nice day is usually full. Parking is often an issue.

Had the Fare Burger. Nothing special. Wish it had more toppings. One lettuce leaf, bacon and sauce was all that was on it. Overcooked patties too. All you could taste in the French Onion soup was Rosemary.

Been here multiple times for lunch. The patio is lovely with a great view. The food is probably the best in Orillia. Consistent with quality, good portions and tastes amazing. Cocktails are always great and the beer selection is stellar. I keep going back because its always such a great experience and I would recommend this restaurant to any and everyone.

Every single time I come to Fare I have a remarkably extraordinary experience. The setting is comfortable, intimate, warm, and second to none; the staff are attentive, professional, exceptional and have outstanding customer service; and the food is beyond exquisite in flavour, presentation, and quality. My favourite place to dine in Orillia by far and an easy max rating across the board.

We went to Fare Jan 26, 2024 for an intimate retirement party. The service was exceptional, the environment was fun and happy. There were many familiar faces at other tables who shared well wishes for our guest of honour! Shannon, Georgia and Michelle were AMAZING! They made sure we had a great time and provided exceptional service all night! The food was quick, hot and exceptionally good! Thank you FARE!

Every bite was heavenly. Scallops and mushroom salad to start, short ribs for dinner and crème brûlée to finish. Will be back.

Four of us at the table for lunch. The bread platter made for a tasty starter. I ordered the pappardelle with Ragù. Just the right amount of pasta and sauce, delicious and savoury, a lovely dish. It was a foggy day on the lake and our table was well-placed for the view.

Came here for brunch, and overall had a great experience. Ordered their Classic Fare meal and it honestly came out very tasty. Home fries are nicely crispy topped with scallions and parmesan. Their classic martini is perfect. Ambiance is nice, situated right by the lake. Probably one of the nicest places in orillia to check out.

We had an app, dinner, cocktails and dessert. Everything was amazing. Two words, bacon JAM!! From the smoky Caesar to the goat cheese appetizer to the burger every bite was an experience!! Will return for brunch!

Right balance on the menu. Nothing too crazy and good use of in season items. Great cocktails. Cool spot. I remember hitting billies on the lawn of the museum when I was 13. Good memories and great to see a restaurant reviving this area.

Our first time there and food was awesome...prices where good and we didnt leave hungry by no means...the bread board starter was great and I have the Fare burger highly recommend wife enjoyed the Prime Rib....definitely would do again aiming for warmer weather to enjoy their patio over looking the water. Went during winter so couldnt enjoy the patio but inside was still nice. Service was great and food was good. I preferred the apps, but the mains were still very good. Korean nachos were a 10. Salmon was ok, nothing special.

I took my girlfriend here to celebrate Valentines Day and we both loved it. The atmosphere was great inside, but the best part was the food. Our appetizer of pita with hummus was savory and delicious. I had the Bison Bolognese which was nice and a great value for the price. The highlight of the dinner however was what my girlfriend got, the Braised Short Rib. The Ribs were cooked to perfection, the potatoes tasty and warm and the biscuit flakey and buttery. We will definitely be returning here to to try brunch!

Undoubtably the best restaurant in Orillia. It s a beautiful location on the lake, with a warm but modern decor. The meals are fabulous. We tried it first for a Sunday brunch. Nice selection of creative a la carte items. Their Valentines Day special was excellent and a decent value with appetizer, entree and dessert. Multiple choices in each category. They also offered their regular menu that evening. My wife really felt like it was a special occasion.

Overall, we had a good experience; food was tasty, restaurant looks nice, and service was friendly. For a $200 dinner, however, our expectations were a bit higher. The ambiance was nice, but it was so dark we couldnt read the menus which were just a printed out on a plain piece of paper. Our drinks were empty and we had to flag down a server who was on her phone behind the bar to get a refill. We were in the middle of a conversation with a server and we got interrupted and she was pulled away by another server.

Had very high expectations based on recommendations. Left very disappointed. For a $200 meal my wifes prime rib and Yorkshire came cold, the scalloped potatoes were extremely warm but had zero taste. My Tonkatsu veal chop was a major let down. It tasted like I was eating a Swanson frozen dinner. Sauce tasted like it was made by Kraft. I dont think I will be back.

I had the best pancakes ever! They sometimes get so busy that its kind of loud and servers seemed understandably overwhelmed. But the service was still alright and the food was amazing.

This was our first time dining at Fare, and it was fantastic! We all loved the appetizers, entrees and cocktails. A beautiful secluded tranquil waterfront spot patio and indoor classy setting. Love the view. Food were served quick. They have very interesting menu. The best and popular dish is the Bison hamburger. We ordered it and my friends just speechless. You know your food is so tasty when they cant say a word. Its truely a real good food here. My wife and I stopped in for lunch with our 2 children (aged 3 and 5) to split up the drive up north. Service was great, the kids were well taken care of, drinks were delicious, and food was tasty. Looking forward to returning! Also impressed by lots of vegetarian options.

Well I was excited to try this place out, looked great but ended up being very disappointing. Kids running around and being disruptive. For the price you re paying I didn t think I d be at a daycare. staff were not very attentive and managers seemed uptight. Food was alright but not worth the time. Don t think I d come back.

Fare Restaurant on the grounds of the Leacock Museum is a hidden gem for dining in Orillia. Beautiful views across Brewery Bay, friendly and helpful staff, great food and wine. The menu has something for everyone and has lovely presentation. The wine list is short, but thoughtful. A completely enjoyable dining experience! Parking: Easy free parking directly in front of the restaurant.

Really engaging staff which made the experience that much more enjoyable. Diet restriction substitutions were swapped in without any fuss. Everyone in our group enjoyed their brunch. The water views were relaxing and in fact a paddle board yoga class was in session while we were there. A welcoming cozy spot for a small group or to take your favorite person to. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating with substitutions or tweaks.

For a very special family anniversary outing and dropping over $500.00 we were all very disappointed. From the beginning when the staff did not assist us with the set up and standing on the side whispering. ( we had called ahead a week in advance and spoke to a person in charge.)To two warm not hot meals and a lack of propery cutlery and having to ask them to light the table candles half way through the servings. Its too bad because it is a great location and a good menu. Aftee dinner they did not offer to assist us to take down the items we brought to decorate the tables. We will be going elsewhere from now on.

Wow! What a gem. A little off the beaten path but the food, the service, the atmosphere is all amazing. Fun fact this restaurant is accessible by canoe at the end of old brewery Bay. Which is how we found it hungry for brunch. It was so good that we came back for my birthday dinner that evening and were not disappointed in any way. Well definitely be back.

My fiance and i went with her parents for her 30th birthday for dinner. She ordered the rib eye, was cooked perfectly and tasted even better! I had the prime rib, it was also amazing. we will be going back without a doubt

What a beautiful waterfront dining gem in Orillia. Have enjoyed lunch on the outside patio and dinner inside in the restaurant. Service is very good and the food is exceptional. I like how the servers work as a team and help out where and when needed. Interesting items on the menu. The Prime Rib dinner is delicious. This was a great find one day while walking the trail.

Cute cozy lookin restaurant. Coffee cake french toast: coffee cake is just overpowering and doesnt feel like french toast at all. Please just offer like normal french toast with brioche or something as this menu is no good :(

dude idk how or why but the salad, soup and sandwich trio was so good i was resurrected in the middle of this restaurant. it was so simple and so good. definitely coming back here!

We reserved a table for 4:30, but arrived with the doors locked, only 3 minutes early. They still were not open despite a 4pm open time. They were very welcoming though at the door, but we were waiting to be seated as they were not prepared to confirm our booking or seat us, despite reserving a table for 5 (4 Adults and a Minor). We were seated and not long to wait for service, which was always nice, staff were quiet and to themselves, but never rude. We ordered drinks, that were great, and then we ordered our plates. We ordered the Pumpkin Alfredo, Short Rib, Prime Rib, and Lamb Shank, as well as Korean BBQ Nachos to start. The nachos were fairly good, the beef was great, though the eggplant added a strange taste to the dish. The plate it was served on was way to small as it was piled high and almost fell on our table multiple times. This dish was not finished, but between 4 adults we mostly finished it. Then our main dishes came. To start, the pumpkin Alfredo has a great flavour, but eventually the flavour passed and turned fairly bland, as it was subtle. The short rib was good, not very flavourful though the sides assisted with the flavour touch. The au jus was light but sufficed. The Prime rib was ordered Medium, but came back fairly rare, so would order the steak a little more cooked if you do not like your meat red. Otherwise the plate was fair and the meat was tender. Finally the lamb shank. The lamb shank was served with thyme and rosemary mashed potatoes and a stew like gravy with carrots. The carrots were good, though the potatoes were like eating perfume. The flavour was incredibly over powering and was not described well on the menu. The lamb shank itself lacked any flavour at all. It tasted as grey as it could, no flavour at all. Not even the gravy could assist this dish. I will say the ladies there were very nice, and I honestly do not have anything against these dishes, but they have a very acquired taste, and are not geared towards the general public. I would not recommend this to a family or to children, but for a couple of foodies this may be perfect for you. In total, our bill was $260, and sadly was not very enjoyed, so please be prepared to pay a large amount while experimenting with your tastebuds! Kid-friendliness: It is not a kid or family friend restaurant. Specifically babies, no change table in the bathroom and not much space for highchair or for car seat.

The only complaint I have is the guests a few tables from us, who treated this place like a common bar. Lod and obnoxious. However, this doesnt reflect poorly on Jemma and her wonderful staff, the clean and modern romantic dining experience. I would highly recommend. The food was perfectly done, the staff were professional and fun. This place easy earned its 5 stars

I made a reservation a week in advance for 5 people. It was my daughter s birthday. When we showed up, on time, we were told there were no tables for five. After standing around for 20 minutes they tried to seat us at a table for 4 with a kids chair on the end. The hostess was rude. Would never go back

50th Anniversary dinner. Cant find anything that wasnt top notch! Food - great, Staff - awesome. Prime done to perfection - even dessert was a step above expectations.

Menu is fused with delicious perfect pairings, food is exquisite and not over priced! To be honest they could rise the prices a tad (I want them to stay in business). Finally a restaurant in the area with beautiful views!!! Their cocktail menu is a beautiful creation! I will be back to try everything on their menu! I highly recommend Fare! It s a must try without disappointments!

This restaurant was by far one of the nicest restaurants we have ever been to. The ambiance was perfect, the FOOD was beyond amazing! We went with a group of couples and tried most of the apps, mains and desserts and every single one was amazing! The drinks were so fresh and delicious blueberry mojito It is located right on the water with a beautiful patio! Everything about this place is perfect including the service! Will def. Return again and again and again!

New Restaurant in #orillia - Outstanding dinner tonight with family. Outdoor on the terrace overlooking the lake. All the dishes were excellent, and the servers were attentive and knowledgeable. Tough to beat that! Highly recommended.

It feels bad to be the first to review this restaurant below five stars, because almost everything was perfect. Great service, friendly staff, amazing location. However, there are two minor concerns that were left on my plate. I attempted to budget my breakfast before arriving using the menu on Instagram. Unfortunately, it does match the menu and many items are more expensive than advertised. Additionally, the peameal and English muffin I received were quite cold upon arrival. The presentation was immaculate, so this lead to some disappointment. If you can get those prices updated to match your menu, I will gladly change this to a 5-star experience. Cheers.

Fare is Orillias best new dining experience. We were seated immediately upon arrival for our group of four. The view on the patio is the best lakefront view in town. Quiet and scenic. Swans swam in the bay as we enjoyed dinner. The food was talked about well after finishing. The cod with coconut curry sauce was fantastic. The vegetarian option, the cauliflower steak was a highlight. Everything was plated well and came out of the kitchen looking very appetizing and picturesque. Service was efficient and very friendly and accommodating. If youre local or just in town for the weekend its a must try this summer.

We went for dinner and had the PEI mussels and corizo as well as korean nacho skillet and they were both amazing; recommend adding the meat to the nacho skillet. The view was amazing in a beautiful Friday night. 10/10 would recommend

Not enough umbrellas for patio tables; we were told we could not move even though we were sat in the hot, bright sun. Reserved table but made to sit inside.

Anniversary meal was exquisite. Presentation of carpaccio was beautiful and flavour was of the best. Cod was delicate and paired veggies were perfect. Partner had pork tenderloin and it was mouthwatering. Ambiance was just lovely and a truly lakeside, fine dining establishment is such a welcome addition to the area. A very special place. However, we had a real problem getting through on phone for reservation. Left a message but never did get a call back. Also, ordered 8 oz glass of sparkling Italian wine, twice. Both pours were clearly half of what should have been. Addressed with server who assured it was the right amount. She did comp another half glass, in her defense. Checked an 8 oz pour with a measuring cup and poured into a similar size flute when I got home and I was right. My servings of wine at Fare were very, very short. That was the only disappointment.

What a wonderful and exciting foodie experience, my family and I had at FARE restaurant. The staff were incredible, professional and welcoming. The menu itself was exciting and told me alot about a chefs journey to perfection. The balance of layered and decadent flavours with delicate and precise presentation blew me away. I cannot wait to return. Instant FARE addict!

What a fabulous dining experience in Orillia. The food is inspiring, fresh and delicious. I had the short rib which was tender. The potato pave was essentially breaded mashed potatoes. The sangria is fruity and dangerous! Also the view cannot be beat. An excellent addition to Brewery Bay.

Great location, with a deck that overlooks Brewery Bay on Lake Couchiching; great service from Jordan; and, decent proportions of tasty food.

I would have given it 5 stars but they missed the boat on background music. Techno pop is totally inappropriate. So an easy fix. Play jazz or dinner appropriate music. Food service and atmosphere were terrific.

Never really understood when people referred to places as hidden little gem Well I understand this now. Fare for us was a hidden gem and are thankful for choosing this place for dinner. We had a patio table right by the water. Just the view and the wonderful company I was with made it so enjoyable. The waitress was great and provided stellar service. Not to much and not too little. Just enough and sprinkled in a little bit of chit chat which was pleasant. The food is where this place shines. We were not sure what to expect but we were really impressed. We ended up getting 3 apps and one entre. We shared all the dishes. They had gluten free options which my wife needed. All four dishes were delicious. We would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice relaxed meal. We went there for dinner and the place wasnt too busy. It was Sunday and more of an early dinner considering usually people go out after 6 to eat out. At least what I find. Oh how can I forget, the drink menu was amazing. There were so many drinks I wanted to try but I ended up going for the pint of IPA. I know I know. My wife had the Sangria and can I say OMG. I was amazing and instantly made me regret I didnt order a fancy drink from the drink menu. This place being in Orillia gets two thumbs up way up.

I would say this is a good place to eat. We ordered a French toast with caramelized peaches inside,with a side of house fries,we also ordered chicken and waffles with house fries too. The last thing we ordered was chicken sandwich with potato chips as a side. The French toast was 10/10. The fries had shredded cheese and caramelized onions. The patio is right next to a lake with a beautiful view. Inside the restaurant is also a museum. Overall the restaurant is 10/10! We all had a great time!

Ideal place to end our vacation in style. The food is good, the decoration is tasteful and the service is pleasant. I advise you to taste the rosé sangria and the California Cut Striploin as a main course. A real treat from start to finish.

Nice ambiance and very good food. We have dined here twice and will definitely be returning. The service is great and the apple crumble dessert is the best I have ever had.

Ambiance was great and you can t beat the view. Great beer selection and decent prices for the beer. Shared a charcuterie board for two people costing $27. Came with one style of cracker, one style of meat, two cheeses (server never explained what kind but we re just a basic cheddar), a few pickles and a some berries that were going bad. Poor selection and very little. Absolutely not worth $27. Unfortunately I don t think I will be back after this experience and in my opinion the whole menu looked over priced.

We had several Dinners over the summer, absolutely amazing, the menu is fantastic, even went in for dessert a few times. Never was disappointed, I highly recommend checking out the patio before the cold weather arrives. Definitely 5 stars.

Probably the most scenic restaurant in Orillia. Maybe the best date spot? A beautiful location located on The Stephen Leacock grounds / Museum with a patio that overlooks the lake. The staff was very friendly and attentive. There is a nice selection of local beers and some cocktails. I started with the Korean nachos. What a yummy creation of sweet beef and some spice along with the fried wontons. I then had the braised short rib. It was fall off the bone tender in a nice and rich gravy. I was too full for desert, but the selection looked good. Worth a try especially because it is off the beaten path.

When you spend that kind of money, I would hope it would come hot! The trout was mediocre, lukewarm and the bed of turnip was cold! My pork chop was warm at best, great taste, texture, but lots of fat covered with gravy. Been here quite a few times, my last!
