The Common Stove in Orillia

First time there. Went as guests of family who have been several times in the past. I looked at the menu ahead of time and was a little apprehensive, but those concerns where put to rest once we got there. We shared some scallops as an appetizer, I had the filet as my main, and we all shared sweet potato rings, heirloom carrots, buratta and kenebec fries. The steak was as good as Ive ever had, cooked to perfection (MR) and served with a nice bearnaise sauce on the side. All the side dishes also came with delicious sauces (garlic aioli, curry, chili lime, chimi churri). We finished our meal with some Kindred Chocolates, which were the icing on the cake. Service was also first rate. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: Many Kid-friendliness: Not really geared towards families, although I did notice one or two kids there. More of an adult atmosphere and menu.

Fabulous food, awesome staff, fun atmosphere. A definite return for us....not to be missed.

Very pleasantly surprised. To be honest, better than a lot of restaurants in Toronto. Meat was incredible, each side dish exceeded expectations. We don t go out much anymore because of the quality. We will definitely be back here. Food

Nice place, really good ambiance. Service was pretty attentive. The food was pretty disappointing. Had the rib eye, and it was pre cut when brought out. Was on the dry side and came with salt and pesto on the sides. The heirloom carrots were probably the best thing that was brought out. Actually, the Lagavulin was the best thing in the menu. At $28 a shot, you would expect a healthy pour. Thats not the case. Avoid the scallops! They did not taste fresh and were seasoned in soya sauce? Terrible combination. Had 2 orders because one order only comes with one. We had left one and a half on the plate. Advised the waitress. She asked what the problem was and told her about the terrible combination. A restaurant charging these prices you would expect a comp or offer another appetizer, desert, etc. She advised that they had 3 restaurants in town. We were looking for live music and decided not to go to the affiliate bar and drive into Barrie.

Great place. Highly recommend. We were just 2 people but larger parties make more sense. The dishes are meant for sharing. The bottled Cider was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly.

Sunday Roast was outstanding. Service was excellent. The smoked vegetable was great but the Yorkshire Pudding exceeded expectations. Finished with the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Ugh. Too good. Couldnt stop.

Great Spot - 4th time eating there this Summer/Fall. Good steaks, great staff. Only critique is have to ditch the Microscopic Scallop Appe. Way too small for the price and outlier in comparison to the excellent quality of all else. ;).

Biggest concerns: food safety 1. A fly going round the kitchen area. Nobody seems cares about it. 2. The lady around the kitchen area also touched the food with her hands. And her hands have long nails with paints. After she touched the food, she wiped into her jeans. And I also saw her touching her hairs and touch the steak right away with no cleansing. Everything else are perfect here 1. Mandarin Crush: a bit too sweet for the beginning taste. Nevertheless, after taste was amazing 2. Scallop: the spicy sauce was a highlight. Making it super flavourful. 3. Beef tartare: not bad but not amazing. The beef would be better if not that warm. I remember the dish says have egg yolk, but I didn t see in the dish. Maybe I m wrong. The flatbread is better than the beef to be honest. 4. Pork: super juice and interesting combination with the peach. The peach sauce is a little little bit too sweet. But still pretty good. 5. Lettuce: salad dressing is perfect with onions and vinegar. I would personally prefer tiny bit less dressing. But I think this is already perfect for majority of the costumers.

Food - ordered carrots + sunday special + ribeye. Every dish presented beautifully but some of non-edible fats from rib-eye and a thick carrot that were not cooked all the way (white in the centre indicating that was kind of raw) was bit disappointing Atmosphere - 10/10 Service - It was our first time here but we were treated as if we were regulars. What i mean by that is we had a bit of hard time getting to know the menu but there was like no explanation to any of the dishes. For instance the server told us the sunday special is still available but didn t explain what it contains until we had to ask her. Also asked her if there were any garnishes coming w the steak but she was like you gonna pay $8 for carrots cuz you ordered with steaks and i didnt understand what she meant but later realized as i got the dishes. She checked up on us multiple times so the service was not bad but i found some of the details of interpersonal skills was not there at the beginning

Toronto prices, but definitely doesnt have the quality to match. Disappointed because I had heard so many good things, but the dishes I had were mostly meh (with the exception of the lobster pasta). The scallops (at 8 dollars per) were bland and the bone marrow (at 24 dollars!) was completely lacking in flavour. Cocktails were very nice, but given the price and the relatively average quality of food, I doubt I will be returning.

Randomly chose to eat here while driving through Orillia with my wife. The aroma of this place when you enter is amazing, food cooked over wood coals evokes a primal sense of comfort. Not too smokey, they have good fans above the grill, just enough to instantly excite the senses and appetite. No reservation so we were sat at the kitchen bar which is a front row seat to the wood burning grill Super cozy upscale dining space, not too loud. We ordered oysters, grilled scallops and bok choy ceasar to start then a filet steak with roasted carrots and house chop potatoes (like mille-feuille and/or fondant potatoes) Was super fun to watch the kitchen work. Very calm and concise, sending out dish after dish, they knew exactly what they were doing. No yelling or banging around Oysters were stellar I forget the variety. Scallops were incredible super fresh and succulent, cooked perfectly. Server suggested house made bread to sop up the sauce in the scallop dish.. 10/10! Unreal Bok choy caesar was awesome, they grill everything here I guess (Im not complaining!) The bok choy had a nice little char on it, comes with whole white anchovies on it. If you dont think you like anchovies Im sorry youre just wrong and this dish is a perfect jump off point on your anchovie journey. They are mild, a little sweet and less salty and fishy than their darker counterparts. A perfect pairing with the slightly bitter and vegetal charred bok choy and the richness of the dressing and Parmesan 10/10 2nd round of drinks, clear, reset and 2nd course came promptly. Steak was cooked very nicely, seasoned perfectly, bernaise sauce, carrots with chimmirchurri, almonds and dates and the crispiest, most caramelized soft fluffy on the inside potatoes youve ever had were the perfect accompaniments Was chatting with the chef briefly and mentioned we were there as a pregame to our anniversary the next day in passing and they sent a big sparkler with our sticky toffee pudding which I thought was a nice touch. Sticky toffee pudding is no joke. I try it everywhere that has one and this was one of my favs of all time. Massive portion, swimming in caramel sauce and a nice scoop of mascarpone cheese on top 10/10 Service was warm and friendly but also professional and discreet. My only criticism is that they should have a couple big tannic italian reds by the glass Sangiovese/Chianti and/or Nebbiolo but Im sure list rotates. (The wines were still really good) Not cheap but not expensive for what youre getting. Really, really good value. Best dining experience weve had in quite some time and we go out all the time in Toronto

Superb dinner! Had the ribeye, carrots and potatoes...all of which were cooked with some sort of wizardry. The flavour combos were wildly successful!

Food and service was excellent. 16oz Ribeye, Cabbage, and Toffee desert were all delicious. 5 stars! Would definitely go again! Food

We went for a birthday dinner September 3rd 2024. The food was incredible! Just an explosion of amazing flavours! The ambiance in the restaurant is comfortable, not pretentious. We love the open kitchen. Best of all, the staff member who attended to our table was out of this world! Warm, friendly, and very welcoming. We really enjoyed her. This is a place everyone must try!

My wife, myself, and our 7 month old son went to Common Stove to celebrate my wifes birthday. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. We had initially had a reservation for the patio, but they were able to seat us inside when we had a change of heart and were helpful in making sure our little one was comfortable. The cocktails were all expertly crafted. We tried the featured cocktail, which was a peach twist on a whiskey sour, and it was fantastic. We also tried the mezcal old fashioned and the Edmond Fitzgerald, and they were equally great. The food was next level. Every dish was exceptional. We had the bok choy ceasar salad, heirloom carrots, lobster pasta, and the rib eye. Everything was excellent, but I was shocked with how much I enjoyed the carrots, and my wife was in love with the pasta. At the end of our meal, our server brought us complimentary truffles for my wifes birthday. Everyone we interacted with was fantastic. We had even run into our server later on, and she complimented my family. It was such a wonderful experience, and we will definitely be back next time we visit Orillia.

We held a dinner here for our closest friends. Everything was absolutely exceptional and Mel made sure that the dinner was perfection. I had several guests comment to me about the quality of the service, and the food was phenomenal.

Superb restaurant and even better service. In the heart of downtown, if youre looking for a steak, you wont be disappointed. And right across from the opera house so dinner and a show.. definitely

We went for the much lauded Sunday traditional beef dinner. It was busy and they were sold out. Our second choice...not available. That doesnt bode well for diners who are tired of onion and garlic based offerings. Our restaurant food partner( woke, for server)... was struggling. We finally went for Arctic Char ( not your average British Sunday dining room fair)...and a Ricotta Cheese pasta in alien green Nettle sauce. Haute Cuisine in the 9th inning. In Orillia. NOT renowned for its haute cuisine, but we left happy. We didnt even follow through with our plan to hit the Dairy Queen on Memorial. Take the chance....

Great restaurant. I had the 7 oz. filet mignon - absolutely the best steak I ever had. The menu is confusing - you need to have the waiter interpret it for you. Expensive, but a great experience.

Everything was just perfect.

We were recommended this restaurant from our friends and went there first to celebrate our anniversary ! It was superb the food is to die for rib eye steak wow and the sweet carrots mmm. Now for the best dessert ever we choose the sticky toffee pudin with caramel sauce delicious beyond believe!!!

My family came for the first time tonight and we were so impressed. The wood fired grill smell when you enter is so inviting. We ordered the heirloom carrots, 1/2 chicken, harvest vegetables, Boston bib lettuce salad, burger and beef tartare for our table. They were all amazing, with the most flavourful being the carrots and harvest vegetables (but honestly all were terrific). We are looking forward to coming back and trying other things off the menu. The service was terrific too ! This place is a slam dunk ;).

I ve come here many times for both dinner and brunch. I love their simcoe shaft, which is their take on the espresso martini. I like espresso martinis and drink them often. Their take is slightly different and delicious. I love their ribeye. The fries are a nice thick cut with a delicious garlic sauce on the side. I got their carrots as a side as well and was delighted by the sauce. Came for brunch and had the English breakfast. Their biscuit is much lighter than I expected. This was a wonderful surprise. They do not have cappuccino or lattes. Their drip coffee is not great.

Best. Brunch. Ever. I had the mushroom eggs Benny (photo) my friends had the vegan harvest, English breakfast, and the avocado hash browns. All were delicious, beautifully presented, and filling! Eat here.

Easily the best steak I have EVER had. So full of flavour and so very tasty. The burrata and fries were also amazing as well. We stayed on the patio but the interior of the restaurant was so stunning and modern. A hidden gem for sure ! We ll be back!

Best meal I ve had in a very long time, I m convinced this restaurant can do no wrong! From the food to the service, everything was exceptional!

Everything was delicious, we shared a lot of things and there is nothing we didn t love. The beef tartare was great, the bok choy salad was amazing, the burger and fries were exquisite. The waitress was super friendly and all in all it was a great night!

My husband and I ended up at the Common Stove just by chance after having reservations at another restaurant cancelled on us last minute. I m so glad they did because the night we had definitely made up for it. We were seated at the bar which had a good view of the library across the street, not something I knew I wanted but it really adds to the warm, cozy atmosphere. We were served by their expert bartender, Cara. Let her know what you like, she s an artist who knows her craft. I tried an Edmund Fitzgerald at first, which was a great drink but Cara made me something with gin and cherry liqueur and lemon simple syrup over ice that left me feeling understood. When she was busy, Reese was there to support with great conversation, it s not easy to find that rhythm but these two paid the perfect amount of attention to us. The food was phenomenal, I mean the flavour on the steak was out of this world but I had no idea that I could be so impressed by the humble carrot. Hats off to all the hard working people who made our night so special.10/10 We ll definitely be back.

I loved this friendly restaurant for the relaxed and festive atmosphere; the service is impeccable, on a Saturday evening with the family! The sommelier is gifted and knows how to suggest wise food and wine combinations; the unpretentious bistro menu offers variety and freshness in all its dishes. Quite remarkably, we felt that the staff seemed as happy as we, the customers, to be there?

My fiancé and I went for a date night here after hearing great things about this place. The food was spectacular, the environment was really cool, and the drinks were awesome (and strong lol). The staff was super friendly and very informative. It s a little on the pricey side, but the food was delicious! Lots of options if you don t eat meat as well!

Will make reservations next time, but we had a great experience even sitting at the bar

Terrific evening at the common stove! Our server Dennis was wonderful, he was a huge part of our evening being so lovely. The cocktails are top drawer, I d compare them in quality to high end cocktail bars in Toronto. The food was very unique, a creative twist on what would otherwise be just another fish/chicken/burger dish, a truly elevated experience. Can t wait to be back!

My husband and I celebrated his birthday at the Common Stove on April 30. The smell and taste of the wood on our cooked items was amazing and pleasantly added to to experience. We dinned on bib lettuce, smoke-fired scallops, wood-fired burratta salad with beets, berries and hazelnuts. The beef filet was cooked perfectly, served with bernaise sauce and was the best we have had in the 50 years of dining out. The meal was rounded off with a decadent chocolate Basque cheesecake and expresso complete with a birthday sparkler. There was so much to pick from we ordered one of each and shared everything. The staff was efficient, attentive, friendly and helpful. I asked where they get the olives they put in my martini and they brought the jar to our table. The table is set with classy crystal and earthenware, soft cloth napkins and high-end cutlery. The dinning area is bright, airy and spacious providing privacy for diners. The private upscaled public washrooms are in the lower level with one accessible in the dinning area. There is also a private room in the lower level. Watching the activities around the wood stove provides entertainment. Their prices are on the high side so I recommend that you save this excellent dinning experience for special occasions. We will certainly go back and recommend it highly.

We were out to celebrate our 45 yrs married . Perfect evening at the Common Stove . Amanda our waitress made sure we understood the food choices and we loved every item we ordered . We had complementary drinks for our celebration . The food was amazing - different menu items. They encouraged us to try different food types - amazing . The staff worked so well together keeping every thing rolling and everyone was so happy . The most comfortable restaurant we have been to . Wonderful food ! We will be going to the Sunday brunch as it looks like a great dining experience

We had dinner at the Common Stove last night! It was our first time at this restaurant. I have to say, there is nothing common about this place!!!!!!! It was one of the best meals I have ever had A++ Rating. The presentation was unique, it was delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff was incredible! I highly recommend this place! Thank you Zoey for making our dining experience awesome and providing us with superior service.

Came in with zero expectations and had our socks completely blown off. If I was on death row and they asked me what I wanted for my last meal, I d have no hesitation in telling them to bring me the Maple Old Fashioned, Heirloom Carrots, and Bok Choi Caesar and I ll die a happy man. Service was impeccable, food was unbelievable. You d be insane not to try it.

First timer and an old hand. A nice table at a corner booth with a great view of the grill and the hustle and grace of professional restaurant staff. Incredible mains of halibut with celeriac mash & morells and heirloom carrots, pork jowl pappardelle and grilled bok choy Caesar salad. Sticky Toffee pudding for two an excellent dessert. An Edmund Fitzgerald, a Negroni classico, and a Negroni Sbagliato were eagerly imbibed. All in all, a brilliant evening, incredible staff and food. I have no idea of cost, as being my birthday, I was treated.

Enjoyed the oysters, potatoes, carrots, squash and halibut dishes. Good sized portions and well seasoned. Service was friendly and prompt - they were mindful of timing due to us watching a show nearby at Casino Rama. Must try - the sticky toffee pudding to round out the meal!

Finding the right words for how good The Common Stove is feels almost impossible, but I ll give it a shot. Yes, it s a bit pricier, but it s totally worth it. Everything they do, they nail it it s just that kind of place. Whether you re from around here or coming from out of town, you ve got to check it out. I ve been there twice and can t wait for round three. Seriously, if you re in Orillia and looking for an awesome meal, this is your spot. Big recommend from me as well as my family.

Regan started our experience off with an Amazingly warm welcome. We did not have a reservation and they had a place at the chefs table ( the bar, where you see them Create/Cook). We are picky!!! OMGOSH!! Everything was Next Level!! The service, the food, the sheer entertainment. Did I mention the Food!??! A MUST VISIT!! Psst Sit at the Chefs Table. Oh.. and Order the Sticky Toffee pudding!! But you didn t hear it from me.

We had a table of four. Our awesome server recommended sharing. It is the way to go. Food was hot, fresh and great timing. No rush as there was no reservation after us. Great night.

Absolutely exceptional!! Booked a reservation a week ago for the chefs counter. Table was not quite ready when my husband and I arrived so we sat at the bar. The bartender, Rhys, was awesome and very personable. Once seated our server Julia was very helpful with the menu. Chef Dillon was right in front of us and we watched as he prepared dishes. We asked questions and he was more than happy to answer them. One of the owners, Simon, brought us our main and checked with us to see if everything was OK. We had several cocktails (lol) steak tartare, blood orange cucumber and blue cheese salad and the 50oz Cowboy ribeye. The food was phenomenal and the service was outstanding. We had the best evening!! The staff had nothing but the highest regards for the owners and they couldnt say enough about what a great place it is to work. This provided us with a very positive experience and we will definitely return!!

Cool place , as aperson who doesnt eat much meat, I would like to see a salad option and more clean veggie dish like the carrots. Cocktails are super cool. My parents take us there for special occasions and its fun and the stove is unreal.

Had an incredible Sunday dinner tonight with my Mom! We were both blown away by how incredible our meal was. The smoke and the cook and FLAVOUR of every element on the plate was beyond our expectations. Highly recommend and cant wait to go back soon!

Classy and cozy space, with food that is clearly made with love. The service is wonderful here, the staff are very welcoming, professional, and accommodating. They do the mighty potato so much justice - best fries and potato pave Ive had in this area, ever. Brunch is solid and dinner options are unique and delicious. Really good coffee (drip only; espresso would be a nice addition eventually) I would recommend the Common Stove for a nice dinner or celebration, but also for just a casual dinner of apps/small plates. This is a gem of a spot that I hope we get to enjoy for a long time!

We had a wonderful dinner experience last evening. What a meal!! The service was exceptional, the cocktails superb and the meal was spectacular. This place is a gem! Found it on Google and cannot say enough about it. We had a great time with great service. We ate a bunch of stuff on the menu and loved almost everything, except for the burger which was disappointing. Would absolutely go back!

I absolutely love this place! The quality of food that comes out of the kitchen is amazing. Everything here is pretty much made on a charcoal grill in the middle of the restaurant. The steaks are a must and the sides are creative.

I cant rave enough about this place! I was treated to a lovely dinner, with all of us being foodies we had high expectations and were these were met and then blown away! The steak was exceptional and cooked PERFECTLY! The heirloom carrots beyond delicious, the potatoes perfection and the bok choy caeser an unexpected delight! Then there was STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING...I will definitely go back!. I had a local beer that was a delight, as well! A wonderful experience!

The Common Stove is our favourite place to meet friends, the farm to table freshness is exceptional for both meat protein and plant based palates. Try out the new winter menu, delicious our server Dennis greets us like friends. Can t say enough about this Restaurant!

Honestly, the first two times were spectacular. And I told my daughter all about it so she was so excited about going. Unfortunately, her fillet that she asked for to be cooked to medium came out rare. There was a nice sear but it was completely red in the middle and had a tough time chewing it. My wifes burger was requested well done as shes pregnant and it came out medium. The scallops I had ordered were cooked well but the breadcrumbs on each shell were all completely different; one was like breadcrumb soup, the next were a little better and the last was nice as they were a little crispy. Sorry but we may not be back for a long while

Have visited several times now, the Sunday Roast is delicious and a new favorite way to end my weekend. Cant wait to come and try the brunch.

Outstanding from beginning to end, great cocktails, great food and great concept. Highly recommend sitting at the counter to watch the grilling action. If there is anything to say I would suggest to utilize the sommelier more to recommend wine pairings as you have a very good wine list in my opinion.

We celebrated three family birthdays here tonight - it was, for my parents, their first restaurant meal in over three years due to Covid and health issues. We were NOT disappointed- the food was beyond amazing, cooked right out in front of you should you want to watch. The gorgeous wood table was fabulous set and the wait staff offered spectacular service- everyone was soooo welcoming and friendly. Was so much MORE than we could ever have expected - cannot recommend this unique, quality dining experience enough! Try it- you will LOVE it! Highly recommend!! Vegetarian options: The meals are family or table set- so one could have as much or as little of whatever they would like. Very easy to tailor a meal around vegetarian desires Parking: Some in front on street but also municipal parking beyond with easy access Wheelchair accessibility: Mom had no problem at all maneuvering thru the restaurant and the restroom was clean and easily accessible

My date and I had the prime rib with Yorkshire for our Sunday dinner date!! Wasn t super super busy which left for an even quieter evening for the two of us. Dinner was great and service was excellent! Very attentive Excellent Sticky toffee, was super yum as always!! Always a pleasure here

Absolutely the best place to eat north of the GTA. You will never find a spot as great as here! We have been here several times and you have not lived until you have eaten at the common stove!

This place never fails. Tonight was our second time at Common Stove, for our five-year anniversary. The food is delectable, service is impeccable, and we even got a sparkler!!! Great options for carnivores and vegans alike.

Exceptional in every way. Great service, incredible food, offers a selection of alcohol free cocktails which is amazing. You can tell a lot of thought went into the concept. Highly recommend to all foodies out there. It was like stepping into a restaurant on Queen West in Toronto, but in the heart of Orillia. Totally in love! Dietary restrictions: Very knowledge on celiac disease which was fantastic.

My husband and I had our first date at The Common Stove so when we got engaged in Oct 2021, it felt only natural to have our wedding here on the anniversary of our very first date :) Simon and team were incredibly responsive with setting me up with their events partner, Lauren Andrew Events, and worked with us to create a custom menu for our guests, wine and drink suggestions, helped to figure out floor plans and seating charts as well as helping to coordinate vendor needs for the day. The atmosphere, food, drinks and customer service on the day were absolutely incredible and guests were blown away. The quality of food was just as good, if not better than when we come here for dinner and service was timely and flawlessly executed. Planning a wedding is one of the most stressful things, but The Common Stove put so much care into our special day and I could not suggest them more for your next event! Simon and team, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our wedding day so incredibly special and delicious. We will again for our first wedding anniversary :)

I finally made my way to Orillia to try the Common Stove. Before I get into it, I m just going to say it s the best restaurant food I ve eaten in Ontario. It was so good that I returned the next day to have brunch. When you arrive, you can see the attention to detail and the vibe of the restaurant is pretty good, but I do find the chairs uncomfortable and the lighting too bright for evening dining. We ordered a bunch of dishes which included the fillet, heirloom carrots, fire-roasted beets, lamb neck pappardelle and the sticky toffee pudding. Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavours/textures were well thought out. I m still thinking about the carrot dish to this day and it says something when you can make carrots that good. The lamb pasta dish was divine and the bite of the pasta was the best I ve had in years. We ordered the sticky toffee pudding and artisanal chocolates for dessert and the sucre à la crème type sauce with the pudding was outstanding. The cocktails and wine list are also good. I found the service was just ok and our server had a bit of an attitude but she warmed up eventually. Brunch included the english breakfast, the combo benny and the banana pain perdu which was sitting in that same to-die-for sauce from the sticky toffee pudding. Everything was once again well thought out and the house made bacon and the duck pâté sausage patty was a refreshing take on what you usually get for brunch at most places. The food is exceptional at the Common Stove. Some might find this establishment to be on the pricier side but I found that you got what you paid for. After brunch, we wandered to their other eatery, Picnic. This spot was a bit of a miss for me but I really don t like drinking wine in something other than a wine glass. I get what they are trying to be, but it s just not for me. It was nice to get fresh oysters in the area though. If you re a wine drinker, steer clear of the Picnic red and 20,000 Leguas orange wine. The orange wine fell remarkably flat. Overall, I was blown away and I m looking forward to eating many more meals here in the future. The Common Stove - 4/5 Food - 5/5 Vibe - 4/5 Service - 3/5

Two years ago I added my first 5 star review for Common Stove but I felt the need to delete it and add another one. I visit Common Stove regularly and they never disappoint. The food is always absolutely delicious, well presented and the service is always warm and friendly. The cocktails and wine selection is fantastic too. Whether you want a steak, or something a little more refined every dish I have tried is packed with flavour. I m excited every time we go and can t wait for my next meal at Common Stove.

It was a great lunch. We all enjoyed it. Our server went the extra mile to keep my little sunshine ( granddaughter Lija...almost 5 yrs old.) happy and spoke to her on her level. Server was great with all of us. We werent rushed. There was 7 of us and we have been to the Common Stove before and will be returning often. We are from Toronto and Fenelon Falls. There are very few places that I can count in my years of dining that Ive experienced this quality of fillet steak. We ordered all of the vegetable choices as well as a lamb rump entree and a beef bread for a starter. Although not to my taste on the beef bread because of the cheese taste, I can assure you the rest of our party thoroughly enjoyed it The staff were attentive and extremely professional, with nothing being too much trouble including putting the almond and hazelnuts seperate to the dishes along with the bearnaise sauce to one side. The steaks were perfectly served to each of our taste. Masterful chef cooking right there. The dessert and chocolates were amazing as well. Thank you so much for the experience folks. Amazing experience, food is great. The chef really cares about the food that is sent to each table, he ensures each plate is up to his high standards before sending out to the table each time. Food menu is not huge, however every item that I have had was amazing and portions are very good. Very cool if you are there with a group as you can order different items and share with all people you are there with. Very fun concept We will return in the future for sure.

We had such an incredible experience at The Common Stove! The atmosphere was very luxe yet down to earth, and everyone was super friendly and lovely. Our server made some excellent suggestions and we ended up trying a few things we wouldnt have normally ordered. WOW! I am so glad we did because it was out of this world. Im still dreaming about those roasted beets! And the burger and spring pea pasta were fantastic too, all finished with the best sticky toffee pudding Ive had. One of the highlight meals of my life -- do not miss out on this special spot, you wont regret it!!

Very interesting and nice food and staff. The menu has some unique, but also many standard, choices so all can enjoy. Servers are great. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, weather permitting.

Amazing service and delicious meal! It was a gorgeous day and we requested a patio seat. They didnt have it open yet but Simon set up a table in the front. Our server was lovely and cheerful and the service was attentive and quick. The only complaint we have is timing...we needed to linger longer and enjoy our initial cocktail before the food and wine arrived. The food was scrumptious (Halibut and Brussel Sprout Caesar) and we cant figure out why a town (a quarter of the size) can have such good restaurants and ours has none. Well be back! Thank you for a lovely night.

A truly outstanding place. The Common Stove has exquisite service, mind blowingly good drinks and exceptional food. We ate ALL of the small vegetable plates alongside a perfect porterhouse steak and eat bite was a 10/10.

I had a striploin with roasted beets and potatoes. All items were fabulous, and it was nice to share the vegetables. Our server was very attentive, and as this was our first visit, she took the time to explain the menu.

What a great dining experience with the best wine list north of Toronto! Started with the a glass of Sparkling Riesling then Burrata Tomato Salad followed by the Halibut in Vadouvan Butter accompanied by Heirloom Carrots. Paired with an excellent Leaning Post Pinot Noir from Niagara. Finished with Sticky Toffee Pudding. Wonderful, innovative cuisine. It s Orillia s hidden gem. Highly recommended for food and wine lovers! Parking: Street parking that s free after 6 pm and paid lots nearby.

Came here for the first time this past weekend and my family has never had an experience quite like this one. Truly one of the best dining experiences weve had. The atmosphere, location, service, friendliness and food/drink were top notch. Cara, our wonderful server, went above and beyond with the service she provided and had amazing recommendations. We will definitely be back. If you are ever in the area, you should absolutely stop by!

Incredible brunch and friendly service.

Decided to visit the restaurant on a whim for brunch last Sunday. Despite not having a reservation, they were able to accommodate us. We ate in the alleyway outside. Initially we were unsure of the spaces ambience but once seated, we loved the beautiful exposed brick, overhead string lights and music. And the food and service were all exceptional as well! Great Job folks!!

My Husband and I randomly found this place and booked a reservation for our second anniversary. We ordered the ribeye, potato s, heirloom carrots and butter lettuce salad honestly would recommend absolutely everything! But the rib eye literally melts in your mouth. Every dish was uniquely flavourful and cooked to perfection! The words this is the best steak I ve ever had even came out of my husbands mouth. Thanks for the incredible meal Common Stove. Not a good experience. Service was very poor. Felt like a burden to order a 2nd and 3rd round of drinks. Water didn t get refilled. Our waitress told us we were her only table yet we saw her every 30min. Steaks were cooked incorrectly. Multiple mistakes and very minimal effort lead to not an enjoyable experience.

Decide to write a new review after a fresh visit. We decide to split a 16oz Ribeye which was cooked to perfection medium rare. Had two sides, Heirloom carrots and Chop House potatoes. To top it off we had the stick toffee pudding for two. Everything was simply delicious plus the service was excellent.

We came for with no reservation and they made room for us, and we were blown away by our meal. We shared raw oysters, a 16oz ribeye, potatoes and salad and strawberry crush drinks and sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and absolutely everything was delicious. It was so good we came back for breakfast the next day and it was also amazing. High quality ingredients, creative dishes, friendly servers, nice atmosphere. We will be back!

Decided last minute to stop for a casual anniversary dinner in Orillia on our way home from up north. How lucky were we that I found and booked The Common Stove? Very, as it turned out!! Really superb experience from start - complimentary sparkling wine - to finish - amazing sticky toffee pudding. Shared two starters and the Sunday roast. Beautiful. Cass, our server was a delight and made our visit that much better. Have already told family who live closer to Orillia they must check it out. Thanks for a top notch ending to our anniversary weekend.

The food was great and the service was amazing. However, I did find it a little loud when we were there. But that may just be me and not the reflective of the restaurant itself.

This is an exceptional restaurant. Absolutely one of the best steaks I have tried. Thw Sunday British roast was also above the norm. I cant think of any aspect of our meal that was unenjoyable. Our waitress was also spectacular. I would definitely return if I am in the area.

Excellent quality and variety of choices. Service was fantastic. I had the prime rib which was perfectly medium rare as ordered. House red wine was better than most places. All servers were attentive to all tables. Only minor complaint was the taste of the house water which tasted hard and chlorinated.

I cannot comment on the actual restaurant but lots of friends love it. I was buying a gift card for a bday gift and found it a bit difficult. Hard to buy online (only process online twice a week. Cannot buy and print it out as they mail it). Doesnt open until 5pm but thankfully, my drive from Toronto to Orillia wasnt a waste. After some digging on thier site, I was able to buy the gift card at one of their sister restaurants that had regular hours.

Was an interesting dining experience. Food was tasty, but the menu is confusing. Would try the place again.

Very nice place! Very friendly service and very good food. We sat at the chef table and can see everything that the chef is doing which is pretty excited. Very delicate presentation of the food and great taste. Love the sticky toffee pudding and its big portion for 2 people. Also the burger is very juicy and the dipping sauce for the fries tastes very good. Also the dessert menu is very cute that it has places recommended to go for the tourists. Will definitely come around to try the steak next time!

Loved it! Sat at chefs table and it was so fun getting to chat with the team as they prepare your meal. Food was delicious, service was lovely, and the cocktails were outstanding! We are still talking about how much we enjoyed our carrots and bok choy caesar!

They use some special salt that makes all their food way too salty. Filet Mignon to vegetables to fries. And they gave extra salt (with their Mignon) in small black containers, to add on top of their Mignon...OMG. Mignon is $49. And it does not come with any vegetables or potatoes. Way overpriced for quality or quantity. You have to order extra Veg for $22. And fries for $14. As a steak place, youd expect to see mashed or baked potatoes on the menu. Nope. They only have fries. Asked for my $49 Mignon to be medium. It came rare. Showed it to the waitress, who agreed. But was too hungry to wait another 40 minutes for the Mignon to be redone. Drove 50 minutes to this place, since it was so hyped. Disappointed. I ll stick to The Keg.

Top tier biscuits. Any dish with them brings balance better than rice can ever hope to. Highly recommend the eggs benny because of it.

Not only did Melissa coordinate an incredible 5-star meal that was perfectly timed, she and the team took care of every detail which left our hearts and bellies full to the brim! Highly recommend everything on the chefs menu, especially the halibut with bernaise, porterhouse + bone marrow, hot coal oysters, steak tartar and special treat of mascarpone stuffed fried zucchini flowers. Absolutely the best restaurant we have EVER been too. We don t even see the point of ever going anywhere else. This place is perfect in every way. You are missing out every day you wait to go here. Go as soon as possible and do yourself and loved ones a favour.

My recent visit to The Common Stove in Orillia was nothing short of amazing! We were a group of 8, for dinner. The cozy atmosphere instantly made me feel at home, and the service was top-notch attentive and friendly. Now, lets talk about the food! We LOVED the uniqueness of the menu, and couldn t decide what to order. We started with the Burrata and steak tartar loved both. We shared The Cowboy Ribeye and it was an absolute flavor explosion; we couldnt get enough. Cooked to perfection and full of flavour. Ribeye is on the fatty side (which I personally like). Our sides were delicious too, we ordered the grillled bok choy ceasar, oyster mushroom kebob (smoky flavour and sauce - so yum!) and scallops. The entire experience, from the warm ambiance to the delightful service and scrumptious food, easily earns this spot a solid 5-star rating. If youre in Orillia, dont miss out on this gem!

Went with a friend and shared our delicious meal of steak/ veg/ fries and a bottle of vino

Simply the best. From carefully crafted cocktails to the bone marrow appetizer with escargot and mushrooms thru the shared main course of carrots with almonds and dates to the perfectly executed house potato to the incredibly well prepared 45-day dry aged rib eye steak with chimmicuri. Basque chocolate cake was to die for, ask for some caramel sauce from the sticky pudding. Trust me.

Unfortunately we went for an annual birthday celebration tonight and were sadly disappointed. In the past we have really enjoyed the roast beef dinner served on Sunday. Our experience tonight was not the same. The roast was not as tender, the gravy had no flavour, tasted more like water. The Sticky toffee pudding was delicious as usual.

Excellent! Expensive but worth the money. The servings were large and we left with full happy bellies! Our server was very knowledgeable about the dishes and was able to help me navigate the menu with even with my food allergies in mind. Everything was cooked to perfection. Best scallops we have ever had and the 35oz porter house was sublime.

Had the burrata for an app, was absolutely delicious, great combo of creamy and tangy and crunchy. Just perfect. Then rib eye cooked perfectly and heirloom carrots. Done perfectly. The toffee pudding is to die for. Overall a ten plus. Maybe a bit lighter on the salt would be healthier ?

Its a few days before Christmas and I was about to enter the restaurant and by 100.00 gift cards for my friends and family to distribute as Christmas gifts As I was about to open the door I was met by the owner who told me that I was parked in the transit bus stop. I explained to him that I am a full-time driver for the city of Orillia transit service and would just park there for a moment and I knew the schedule and the buses would not be back for 30 minutes The owner then told me I was very silly so I decided not to enter his restaurant and buy gift cards for my friends and family I will go to another establishment where the owner doesnt call their customer silly
