Got take out - sushi was very disappointing. I actually thought I got the wrong order at first but turns out they just have really bad sushi. Rolls are very inconsistent and the ratios of meat:veggie is so off. I would drive to barrie for sushi before going back here The rolls in the photo are apparently California rolls
Ordered 50$ worth of sushi. They only delivered one roll. Also told them no seaseme seeds due to an allergy, and the only roll they delivered was coveted in it Refused to give me a refund, or even apologies for missing the allergy and not giving the food I paid for. Not recommended.
So, I am a longtime customer through Skip The Dishes. (About 2 yrs I believe) They were me and my roommates go-to for sushi. We always order the B5 Combo Bento box which is $20. The last 3 orders we have noticed that they are giving WAY less now instead of 6 California rolls they give 4, then 4 of the other roll (can’t remember the name of it) when it used to be 6 pieces and then less of the sashimi pieces and other various sushi pieces. It’s one thing to have costs go up, which I understand is inevitable but then charge a couple more bucks for the meal, instead of skimping on the bento box. It’s almost like because they decided to change the packaging (they now use Glad containers) which are definitely more expensive than the previous packaging they have decided to cut back on the sushi in the combo. We (my roommate and I) are really disappointed because this was our go-to for sushi. But now we are looking elsewhere because this is NOT acceptable.
Great sushi & fair prices! I love this place, I just wish they were open till 8pm
We really enjoyed the food. The quality of the ingredients where fresh and bright in color and flavor. Not like some all you can eat joints can have dull and sometimes questionable fish. . These people where very kind and deserved my repeat patronage. Thanks for dinner - 🍽️ Hungry from Halabilurton
Flavours are decent, quality of the fish is above average compared to all you can eat sushi spots. We got a platter for takeout and it satisfied our craving for sushi. Main complaint is the batter on the rolls with the shrimp tempura in it (which were in 2 out of the 5 rolls) were quite stale.
Amazing party platter! Thank you so much for the awesome work you put into this today. I would love to return as soon as possible.
My daughter and I visited about a month ago. We visited because of the high review rating and we both love sushi. That being said I am very surprised at the high rating based on our experience. The outside and inside is very run down and tired. Presents the "I don't give a s***" kind of ambiance. It was dark and hot inside. The service was polite, friendly, and super fast. Not surprising though as we were the only ones in the restaurant for our entire visit, starting at 5:30 pm, which is telling in itself. I ordered the Sunday Roll, which was very good, along with a Philadelphia roll, both of which were rather small. My daughter ordered two rolls, again, small portions, which she enjoyed. We both agreed it's not the best sushi we have had, but not the worst... very mid range. Overall two stars only because I feel for the amount we paid ($66. for 4 rolls and one glass of wine), the entire experience could have been much better...
Place was closed today showed up at 6:45 PM Five of us had to turn around Food
Better than the grocery store of course and decent prices. Tastes great and always ready on time
Take out only.
Change their status on google to take-out only. Not really suitable for people that are out of town.
Pretty disappointing. Went there and ordered the bento box. They made an error in my order, giving me a veggie order instead of chicken. That I can understand happens. But then the bento box was far from it. It was just a few veggie roll and a miso soup. Not worth the price for a dinner size as was still very hungry after.
Always great food.
Spicy sashimi rice bowl was not edible. $24 wasted. Fish was not fresh at all and covered with green leaf lettuce that was spoiling. Disappointing experience here. The smell inside the restaurant should have been a red flag to turn around. Will never return.
Ordered delivery, didnt get any of the food we actually ordered. Drove over to the restaurant myself (since they wouldnt answer the phone) to get the food we ordered, but they closed half an hour before their posted closing time. I ended up eating the stuff that I didnt order, it was mediocre at best. Wont be spending any money there again. Two big thumbs down.
Ordered take out via Skip the dishes and were given the incorrect order. Called the restaurant to correct the order. No answer. Drove to the restaurant and they were closed 30 minutes prior to their closing time. Had to fight with Skip the dishes to get a refund because the restaurant was closed early.
They do make great sushi but they never answer their phone to take pick up orders and no longer do dine in service.
Order was wrong and they refused to fix it, Saud its skip the dishes fault and they are the ones that have to refund! Skip will not as its the restaurants responsibility not theres. So I got ripped for $62.00
Amazing food.
The food was great .. the dining experience wasnt .. good sushi .. try take out
Very tasty sushi at reasonable prices in Orillia. Highly recommend for takeout. Will come back again.
No longer a dine in restaurant. No longer licenced.
The best sushi north of Barrie! Hands down! We do take out, the freshest party trays and menu items!
Some of the best food Ive tasted
For the second time in a couple of months Ive tried to order by phone but they never answer. Last time I went in person they told me 90 minute wait.
Mediocre sushi, very nice owners but we didn t really like the sushi. Not very authentic and small portions.
Best sushi from here to Toronto and Im only guessing that somewhere in Toronto would give this place a run for your money
Reviews are pretty true: portion sizes are on the smaller size and some of the stuff is a little bit $$$$ but it was very very tasty - would order again
These guys are pretty good, I find them to be a little shy and negligent of tables, menu items are quite inconsistent brought to the table but excellent food.
Really bad food. Bad sushi i ever eat in my life
Decent price and friendly staff. Disappointing they are still closed for dine-in as we were tourists and would have loved to sit down to eat. We would have ordered more if we could have sat down and enjoyed our meal! Time to move on from covid!
Sushi tasted ok ..value for the money was not ok. The portions were too small .definitely not worth the money.
Me and my hungover bestie got the sushi delivered and omg it was so good!! The only thing I m disappointed in was the fact that we didn t order more. There wasn t enough salt on the edamame but it was so good we didn t care. Keep up the good work you sushi wizards xoxo b and a
Yummy sushi
Everything very fresh and juicy and soft, really perfect blend of ingredients and preparation, rice was delicious, tasted fresh like ingredients well taken care of... Impressive!
Very good sushi customer service leave something to be desired. As far as value, I feel like the price is a little high! Definitely will return as there is a lack of sushi options in orillia.
The food is amazing!! My favorite sushi rolls by far. The volcano is the way to go.
Delicious and fresh
Great fresh food. They have an extensive menu. Super service as well. Will be going back!
Not worth the money. We were apprehensive about ordering here due to the price of some of their rolls, one of which was $20+. But since our normal goto, Akira is closed we thought we would give it a try. The rolls are sooooooooooo small. We ordered $100+ worth of sushi for 3 people and had no problems finishing it.
While this place isnt the cheapest, it is the best in town and you get what you pay for. Sushi is excellent from here. Try the Sundae Roll (my fav.) My only criticism is that communication skills are limited and on New Years Eve they turned were too busy to take orders and turned us away when we walked in, but this still continues to be my favorite place in town.
My favorite place in town, for take out as dine in space is limited.
This is my fourth trip in the past 8 months and their combo platter just keeps getting better and better. Fresh, creative and enticing combinations of sushi & sashimi. Ive may have had over 100 seaweed salads in the past 20 years from a variety of sushi restaurants and I have never seen a seaweed salad like this one, it gets a Golden 10. Excellent take-out sushi.
Great food, nice people, with let others know. Keep up the great work.
Very tasty salmon sushi. However, I really never had smaller portions than here. And I have eaten lots of sushi, even in Japan. Because of that the value ratio is off and I can only give 3 stars.
Good portion sizes and price. Fresh fish and tasty ingredients. This was our first time getting take out from here, and well definitely be returning! Recommended!
Always good sushi at this small restaurant in Orillia-Miso soup is delicious also -Small family run business and I ve never been disappointed in their quality and taste
Takeout - Rolls were OK (3/5) but the tempura was so much breading and soggy (1/5) and overall pricy for the quality or quantity.
Why does it say you close at 8 and when we try to order at 7 your closed...foods great service questionable
I just had an assorted sushi, sashimi and roll boat and it was excellent! It was all fresh and extremely tasty. I will definitely return here and I highly recommend it.
Very very disappointed. Orillia can really use a good Sushi place since the closing of Ahi Sushi. Small portions (especially the hand rolls).
Super fresh and delicious sushi! Also at a great price which makes it an affordable quick & healthy lunch when on the run.
Awesome as always!
This place has amazing fresh sushi and the people that run it are absolutely amazing!!! Arigatou gozaimasu!!!!!
My favorite place in orillia
Food was 4 stars but the atmosphere was 2
Quiet atmosphere. Good, consistent food, and fast service. AVOCADO SALAD IS TO DIE FOR
They give you a boat load of sushi, that is probably actual fish and its decor is simple but quaint and if you enjoy a little privacy they have two tables shrouded in the back from the rest of the sitting area, great if you want the feeling of being more private.
Best place in town by far and wife absolutely loves it percent
Amazing takeout sushi. Rolls fell apart a bit but super fresh. Loved the salmon and avocado rolls and the avocado cucumber rolls.
Thought I d try a different sushi place but was overall highly disappointed. Pros: Food was delivered quickly, staff friendly (two things that I don t give my regular sushi place). It was also a little less expensive. Cons: Rolls were significantly smaller, no presentation appeal served crammed in styrofoam clamshell style containers and basic rolls. Sushi was mushy and tough. Although it isn t the most expensive sushi place in town, given that half the order went in the trash, it wasn t worth the money.
Excellent, good sushi, good price, good people.
Hands down one of the best Sushi places in the country.
Well priced, great presentation, and VERY fresh ingredients. Get a platter if youre doing takeout and you wont regret it! Enjoy!
Got take out for Valentines. That was an excellent sushi platter! Thank you
Very tasty food! Variety of options to choose from. Its not all you can eat so therefore a bit more costly but would recommend for lunch to avoid the over eating feeling. Very friendly service very clean. Overall very satisfied!
Very good sushi but unfortunately not all you can eat so it can get rather expensive. But overall would come here again.
Best sushi place in town. Sushi is not all you can eat but totally tops the majority of all you can eat restaurants from Barrie to Orillia. This is a must eat at kind of place and if your in town check it out!!
Best around here
Nice quiet lil place downtown. Ordered a couple of bento boxes and they were very fresh and delicious. First time there, will certainly be back
Excellent and fresh. I ordered the Chirashi rice bowl which is assorted sashimi on a bed of sushi rice. While not as much variety as the best Toronto sushi restaurants on this dish, everything they did supply was fresh and tasty, and that is what is important. Also to note, we arrived on a slow time shortly before closing, but still the food was good and fresh. The interior of this place looks like it has not been updated in many decades and is well worn, but clean. No drywall here. Dont come here if you are looking for decor to impress. From now on, I will be making detours through Orillia to go to this restaurant when I am in the area!
Great sushi, well made rolls. They are a bit small I. My opinion, but definitely delicious
Its just fine. If youve ever had sushi before and loved it, this will probably not be as good as what youve had in the past. We got the assortment of rolls, 35 pieces, and they were all pretty small as well. The sushi was fresh, but they also just had a lot of imitation crab and not a lot of fish. It may have been the choice we made, might have been better off ordering a couple rolls, but I think for the size of what you get, youll probably have to order two to equal what youd expect one roll would be, so not as cheap as it may seem. I probably wouldnt go back, since we spent about 50 bucks total after tax and tip and for that you could get a much more satisfying experience elsewhere.
Always nice to visit. Good sushi freshly made
Fresh sushi and great service in a cozy place. Seaweed salad was delicious!
Fresh, yummy Sushi. Great value. Lovely owners! Cant wait to go back.
The Avocucumber Mango roll is my favorite!
Great, fresh sushi. Definitely on the pricier side compared to other places, but i think its worth it.
The volcano roll was out of this world, as were the other rolls we had. Friendly service and a cozy spot.
Good selection of sushi! Friendly staff.
Everything Ive had here is outstanding!!!!
Friendly service 5/5, Sushi is 4/5. Would recommend.
Probably the best sushi Ive ever had. I always come by whenever Im up in Orillia because i cant find sushi as good as here especially for the price
Excellent food, friendly staff and owners. Very cozy and clean atmosphere
Great sushi place, good serving size. Good place to eat! Only complaint is the menu could use a bit more variety on roll ingredients.
Fundamentally misunderstands the bento box concept. 4 kinds of mediocre sushi and sashimi is not a bento box. A bento box includes some combination of tempura, steamed rice, salad, sushi, dumplings, sashimi and miso soup.
Came here for takeout. It was the fastest service I d ever had for sushi take out. Was in and out in less than 5 minutes. The sushi was very home-style cooked which was delicious and healthy as well. The prices are very reasonable for Orillia.
Fresh and tasty food friendly staff
Not a great experience. There was nobody dining at 7:30pm on a Saturday night ... that shouldve been a hint to walk back out. I ordered the spider roll and the softshell crab was premade and microwave to reheat which made the batter hard and chewy. There was hardly any softshell crab just the chewy batter. It came in 5 tiny pieces for 12.95. If it was tasty I wouldnt have minded the high price. It was the worse roll I have ever had. We also ordered the bulgogi bowl and the portion was super tiny for 16.95. The bowl was super big, lol which made the portion look even smaller. Again it was reheated. Since we were the only one dining it was quiet and all we heard was the microwave going on and off. I would not return ever again and suggest you go across the street for pizza instead! If I can rate a 0 I would.
Place was a little warm, but the good was nicely presented and very tasty!
I seriously love this place. The food always is fresh and a great value for the price. It tastes great. Super fast. I would go here for lunch or dinner any day.
Tasty AF
Fresh tasty food. Friendly service.
The special rolls are the ones to get. Good service. Found it a bit pricey but nice to have somewhere local to get good sushi.
Definitely an awesome place to eat!
Not cheap. No options for all you can eat. Served rolls extremely fast - likely prepared in advance.
Home cooked sushi and stuff. Great service and food. Sweet couple run it I think.Food is Great....Yummy.
Great!
Poor quality food and too high of price, I wont go back.
Wicked good sashimi and everything else. I stop by after work and they are always dependable for super tasty and divine rolls and wraps.
Authentic sushi.Very friendly staff and couple who own it.Great value and right downtown. Loses stars for parking as I always get tickets even when I pay or broken metre.
Sushi was old, premade
Good food and quick service. I prefer it to the other sushi restaurants in Orillia.
Friendly staff and great fresh rolls.
I went near closing but everything still tasted fresh and fantastic! Im originally from Toronto and, as a sushi lover, have been to many sushi places but this place is by far outstanding! Ive also been to other local sushi placed in Orillia but this is the best spot. They do not put a lot of rice like the other places do to make you full purposefully. Would definately go back & recommend
Looks are deceving, food was pretty good.
Easily walked past this gem on my first visit. Sushi was fantastic, prices were very reasonable. It wasnt at all busy when we went (if I recall no one was there until after us). Also they have a pretty decent/varied selection of sushi with all the things you generally come to expect like miso.
Nice place with good eats. Better than most. Never thought Id seethe day Orillia had 3 sushi joints.
