PICNIC ~ Old world tapas & wine bar + old town grocer. Good old fashion fun. In the heart of downtown Orillia. #tapas #wine #butchershop #bottleshop #grocery #oysterbar #provisions #patio #livemusic
Great place for a meal in downtown Orillia. If you want something different from the usual burgers and fries here's a place that competently delivers excellent variety. We had the croquetas and pork belly from the tapas, and mushroom sandwich and duck confit from the classics. The food is well prepared, delicious, and good portion size. Would have had a drink too if not for my long drive home. Super restaurant that can hold its own even if it were on W Queen West or Ossington in Toronto.
Robyn (Robin?) & Melanie were an absolute delight. They're knowledgeable, they're friendly, they are the perfect amount of attentive, and even if I hadn't loved the food (but I did), I'd still probably go back for the service. The food exceeded my expectations and the house Garnache was excellent too. Can't wait to attend the specialty nights & live music events, etc. Will definitely be back!
A very nice tapas place in Orillia. They have a good selection of small bites to choose from. The service was fast and friendly. We had an enjoyable late afternoon meal.
We always go here for Thursday night Tequila night. The food and experience is amazing. The house sangria is so delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant. We always take a loaf of sour dough to go.
Ranks up there among all tapas restaurants. The servers were polite and knowledgeable. Oysters with scotch!!! All plates were properly cooked and prepared. Slightly noisy but not excessive.
You might think you might need to drive to Toronto to get a restaurant of this caliber, you would be wrong. Right here in the north, you can find a wonderful tapas bar. The menu is a bit complex but the serving staff is very well trained and able to speak on every dish. I like the cauliflower. If you are an oyster fan, do those. I personally find them disgusting but my friends who like them say they are great. My one complaint is that I hate that they don’t use wine glasses. This is personal presence more so than anything. I am sure there is some hipster, trendy reason for why they use water glasses for wine. They have a very good selection of wine you can take home in the bottle and enjoy in a wine glass. Ideally, a ridel wine glass.
YES!!!! (Just …..YES!) Visited today for lunch (15-May-2024), after having bumped into the owner “Joel” across the street at another great establishment…(Rind and Truckle). Strongly recommended to me…I decided to give it a shot. I was promptly seated, in a clean, well-deforested, nicely lit restaurant right on Mississauga St. My server Jacqueline was polite, and very courteous. Ordered The Cauliflower appetizer and a Diet Coke. Took about 10 minutes to prepare. It was nicely roasted on a bed of some form of dipping sauce. It was well-seasoned, (not that it needed to be, I enjoy Cauliflower in all forms), and came with Kosher salt for sprinkling if so inclined. (I did not). It was topped with toasted Walnuts (if my taste buds don’t deceive me), and was absolutely delicious. Hot enough to enjoy without sacrificing the roof of your mouth. I can’t wait to get back and try their Guajillo Chicken sandwich. A must-visit for sure.
Orillia, a charming town, never fails to enchant me! This time, it was Tapas bar that sparkled like a gem. Stepping in felt like wandering into a Barcelona alley with vibrant colors, quaint decorations, enticing scents, and nice arranged tables and chairs. Every dish ordered was a success, and the staff's kindness left a lasting impression. Looking forward to experiencing live music next time and becoming a regular to savor every menu item.
Lovely food & Staff were fantastic. Thanks guys for our little family reunion
A unique little obscure restaurant with a surprising menu and delicious, creative, quality food. Fantastic!! Food
Unique with a nice atmosphere. Our server was informative and friendly adding to our pleasant experience. Thank you Veronica
Outstanding! My wife and I were visiting Orillia for the weekend and we were recommended to try a downtown restaurant, which ended up being fully booked that evening. That was our good fortune! We called Picnic, which had also been recommended and they fit us in at the bar. Simon, one of the owners, greeted us, and really set the tone for the rest of the evening. He was personable, attentive and charming. Like all of the staff, he made you feel he was very happy you came to them for dinner. The wine was excellent, every dish was fantastic, and we left already planning another visit. 10 out of 10. Highly recommended. You must go.
Nice decor, ambiance, great Playlist, lighting on point, tableware unique and well thought out. Service pleasant, wine was good. 1/2 price oysters were properly cleaned and shucked, flavourful, a bit small in some cases. House bread and cheese were nice. Patatas Bravas was 12/10; amazing crisp on the exterior, fluffy well seasoned inside, bravas sauce amazing! Will recommend and return forsure.
Very refreshing food and great service
I had a lovely lunch here with my sister. The dishes are great for sharing, and I love how the staff are quick to answer questions. It was the perfect place to catch up over delicious food.
Lovely authentic food. Amazing portions and just such a unique flavour profile. Definitely going to come back, local treasure
Love the experience of a quiet place to enjoy a romantic date with my husband
The Picnic Tapas and Wine is a great little restaurant in the heart of downtown Orillia. It is affiliated with The Common Stove which is a few blocks away, and the Hog and Penny which is just around the corner. This restaurant is quite small, but quaint. There may be a small wait in order to get a seat, especially in the summertime. It may seem confusing that I gave five stars for all of the amenities, but only gave four stars total. This is because the food is incredible, and the atmosphere is great, but the prices are quite Hefty for the quantity of food that you receive. I suggest not visiting on an empty stomach. I tend to visit on Tuesday evenings , as this is a good opportunity to taste a couple of the tapas as they offer half price Tapas on Tuesdays. There is a small gift shop area in the back of the restaurant, where you can purchase wines and a baked bread. There is a paid parking lot around the corner, and metered parking on the street in front of the restaurant. A great Hangout for girls night out, or a quaint date night with your favourite person. Kid-friendliness: I dont really feel like this is a kid-friendly restaurant, its more of a date night/fancy bar kind of atmosphere.
We had an amazing experience at Picnic tapas and wine. The food was delicious with tantalizing flavors. Delish! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and her recommendations did not disappoint. Sorry no pics this time. I was too busy enjoying my company and my meal.
AMAZING PLACE! We recommend the Baked Cheese & Mushrooms + Manchego! You can t go wrong with this restaurant!
Great tapas lunch at Picnic Tapas in Orillia. #picnicredwine #foiegrastoast #lambcroquettes #scallopcerviche #picnictapasandwine #orilliaontario @picnictapasandwine
I had a great time and enjoyed the food very much.
I went with my wife and another couple. Half price tapas night. Everything we had was delicious. Great hidden gem in downtown Orillia.
Such a fun spot, the food and mixed drinks were fantastic.
The food was delicious!
If you want a little piece of Spain locally, you need to sample the tapas at Picnic. They were all delicious, but Spanish Tortilla , Grilled Tuna Sandwich, and cheese & charcuterie platter were simply outstanding. Good list of well priced wine, including a nice selection of local Ontario gems, and even more that you can select from their bottle shop. The pleasant staff know the wine and food intimately and are happy to help you with wine and food questions. All in all a great dining experience. My only regret was we were so engaged in conversation with our group, pictures of the feast were forgotten. We will return to sample more! Vegetarian options: The menu has vegetarian options. Parking: Free parking on the street after 5:30 pm. Lots are close by. Kid-friendliness: Not sure that most kids would enjoy tapas unless they are well travelled.
Great local live music here, and the self-serve fridge is stocked with great local beers. Top praise! Parking: Easy to find!
The food here amazing if you are experimental and want to try unique dishes. They have something for vegetarians as well as meat lovers and they are perfect portions for sharing. We love the wine and cocktails as well. Great assortment of drinks. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are In Europe instead of small town Orillia. Great music and on Tuesdays they have half-price tapas. I highly recommend the cauliflower dish, the chicken sandwich, the shrimp, the eggplant and the flourless brownie dessert. No photo of the brownie because it disappeared too quickly, and reminded us of the restaurant scene in When Harry Met Sally! This restaurant impressed our chef/sommelier friend.
Spain has arrived in Orillia with Picnic. One of Orillias best. Tapas restaurant with incredible food and wine. Spanish / Portuguese style. The manchego grill cheese is on a whole different level. The lamb dish was so good. Very low key atmosphere with actual picnic tables. The staff and owners are amazing. First class. Average price per couple $100 with a drink.
This was absolutely outstanding. The vibe was great. The food was even better. Everything was so over the top delicious. The server was so helpful explaining some of the dishes we werent familiar with. I will definitely make the trip from Toronto to go there again. Its well worth it!
Over priced drinks and really overpriced teaser plate $18 for a few slices a salami prosciutto 3 tiny pickles 6 mushy olives 2 very small pieces of basic cheese and a small thin cracker thing Really sad no chance woul I return If this is the quality I can expect at the comman stove I won t bother
We loved the food at PICNIC. Fantastic service. Drinks we loved. I had the Oaxaca Old Fashion, amazing!
We went to this place because we were told it was the sister restaurant of Common Stove, which was very good. However, please take a venture to the home of Tapas before labeling it as such! Please don t put anchovies on Pan con Tomate !
Absolutely perfect in all areas.
I recently visited Picnic tapas place in Orillia, and it was an absolute blast! The shrimp, tuna, foie gras, and duck were all incredible each dish bursting with unique and original flavors. The service was amazing, making the entire experience even more delightful. This place is a rare gem, offering a culinary adventure you cant find in Toronto. Highly recommend to anyone looking for exceptional tapas! Five stars all the way!
Beautiful space for delicious tapas and delicious local draught. Get the foie! Food
Loved our dinner. Delicious food. Great selection of wine. Eclectic and cozy atmosphere. Great service. Looking forward to our next visit.
Everything was very tasty and presented beautifully. Lots of options and good service.
We chose Picnic randomly as we were passing through Orillia and we are so happy we did! We had an amazing lunch, the food was perfect, just as described, so fun to share! The service was outstanding! Oh also the sangria is a must.
The mushroom and manchego sandwich might have been one of the best sandwiches Ive had in ages. By far the best one in Orillia. I look forward to trying other menu items soon. Will definitely be recommending picnic to family and friends
Vegetarian options: Yes available (Like mushrooms and cauliflower) Food
The pork belly was to die for very delicious. The octopus was very good as well. My favorite was the cheese and mushroom sandwich. The ingredients were fresh and of high quality. Simon does a great job. If you enjoy draft beer, give the scotch Ale a try, surprisingly good.
We visited for Valentines it was really good. Tapas are amazing a d service great. Highly recommended
Amazing food and atmosphere BUT...buyers beware. If eating there and buying a bottle of their wine, Pay for your bottles of wine separately otherwise the waitress adds to your tab and you end up paying the Tip on that amount! Tip today was $42.00... eek! We were in such a good mood didnt even notice until I looked at the bill later
Ridiculously good, still so good.
I have been eating here regularly, ever since they opened. Every meal is a delicious surprise with a personable staff, including a somalier and cordon bleu chef.
Delish !!!
As a Toronto transplant I really appreciate this place. It reminds me of being in a small hip burrow with a secret spot you tell all your friends about. Fun tapas dishes friendly staff great drink selections for there or to take home with the bottle shop. Have been several times with different friends already and will be back
Small, intimate yet casual space. We got the full Charcuterie and it was amazing. We had Oysters, Duck Confit, Pork Croquettes, Baked Cheese and Potato Pan-Kate. Our favourite was the Pork Croquettes and Duck. I wasnt a fan of the texture of the potato but my fiancé liked it. I wouldnt get the baked cheese again as I feel thats something easily done at home. Missing a star as we waited a while to be seated even though we had reservations and had to ask multiple times to get refills to the point that we had to get up and ask a third time for a drink so we could continue eating. I dont think thats the norm though as staff did seem very customer focused and were very apologetic. Overall fun experience.
Incredible restaurant with incredible atmosphere. The food was on point that paired up really well with the house wine. I will definitely return again when I am in the area.
The food was outstanding! I was worried that a tapas restaurant would leave me hungry, but each plate was loaded with food and reasonably priced. My favorites were the house bread, Picnic sandwich (it was huge, enough for its own meal!), baked cheese and the chorizo tortilla. I would recommend getting some clarification on the items as we did end up with all bread/carb related dishes, so a variety will be better for next time. Overall it is the best food in the Orillia area out of any restaurant! The restaurant is small, so definitely reserve a table ahead of time, but it was also nice not having a ton of people eating at the same time too. Casual dress will fit in as well. Parking: Paid city parking lot is a few metres up the street but can be busy
My husband and I went for the first time on Valentine s Day and we were BLOWN AWAY by how amazing it was. The ambiance gave very authentic European vibes, our server was attentive and kind, and the food was to die for. We ordered 7 different items and every single dish was incredible. Compliments to the chef!!! We were also very impressed with the portion sizes, more food than we expected for tapas and reasonable prices. So happy we found this gem in downtown Orillia
Absolutely love this place! Very warm atmosphere, friendly staff and wonderful wine and charcuterie. Very unique experience getting to choose our bottle of wine from a table at the back. If youre in Orillia, you simply must check this place out!
Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. They always have great wine, and fresh treats for your charcuterie board. Dont forget to pick up some of their yummy Sour dough bread made fresh daily... so good!
Food, service and ambience are all a 10/10. Worth the trip to Orillia and cant wait to go back and try the rest of the dishes Thank you Joel, Grace, Kisha and Simon!
Great atmosphere, great food and staff. Run by some great people. Highly recommend
If youre a first-time guest, Id like to ask that you order the Mashroom + Manchego dish. I cant convey the flavour, simply say its perfect.
Kisha and Kate are always wonderful to be served by. Cocktails are unrivalled. They have meat. It s very good.
Got the Oysters, clams and octopus here and we loved it! Kind stuff and amazing food!
Took my sister for a little tapas for her 50th birthday. The service was extremely professional. The ambience was dark and cozy. All the Tapas was simply presented and very tasty. The two desserts we had were on the sweet and heavy side but still delicious.
Ive been going to picnic for a while now and every single time I leave happy. The food is amazing, the drink options are perfect, staff are helpful and friendly which shows they enjoy the workplace, the whole vibe is upbeat and positive. I love the atmosphere that they have created. I love going into a bar and seeing strangers all sitting at the actual bar sharing stories and laughing. They have done a great job at creating the perfect environment and I love the many events they hold. They also have fantastic weekly specials. It is a spot I recommend to people popping through town and is a great place to go at off-peak times as well for a drink and bite. See you again soon!
Had some lovely drinks and sharing plates with friends on Saturday night. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The staff were friendly and casual. The food was flavorful, and it was a good value. We will definitely be back!
Great food, great service. I would definitely go back again.
What a gem! Great food, fantastic wine, friendly and helpful staff. Tapas are on point and super rich. Try the Spanish tortilla.
Had a lovely meal there last night. Good sized portions beautifully cooked. Great selection and fantastic wines. Staff were warm and friendly, service was good. A real surprise to find a place like this in Orillia. Vegetarian options: Very good options available.
A last minute drive to Orillia just as stores were closing brought to Mississauga Street, quickly realizing we were hungry. There are plenty of choices on Miss... street but we lucked out on choosing Picnic, a fun, casual tapas restaurant cum oyster & wine bar. The interior is very dark and somewhat somber (but not in a bad way) with an interesting and eclectic grocery selection at the back. Much like a Spanish tapas bistro, Picnic offered a wide selection of seafood, meat and veggie plates that are best if shared. We ordered the Basque anchovies (in a tin) (very tasty), roasted cauliflower (a large portion and yum), patatas bravas pancake (much like a latke...also yum), baked (brie-like) cheese drizzled with honey and homemade bread (very tasty), a chicken sandwich on foccacia (very good), and mushroom and machego grilled cheese sandwich (excellent!!!). Service was extremely friendly and the food was served quickly but tempoed with how fast we ate. Special call out to SAM who took care of us. Definitely worth a visit (or two). Enjoy!
Have been there twice, most recently for my sons 19th Birthday. Usually a picky eater, he loved it as did all of us! Will definitely return. **Note: Our spend per person was on the high side only because we tried half the menu!!**
Great service, great food. I like the concept of sharing a few menu options with the people at your table, allowing everyone to sample more than one item.
Get the duck.
Amazing tapas and wine!
Great wine choice. Friendly service.
This place ia fantastic! Truly. Probably my favourite restaurant in Orillia. The food is incredible. The service is excellent. I honestly cannot recommend this place highly enough. I am both thrilled and amazed to have a restaurant like this in our small city. Truly wonderful.
Took myself out on a date (to picnic, quite literally) after quite sometime and it was amazing! The restaurant prides themselves in the ambience they bring to life with the wine and super eclectic Tapas and cocktail menu and I recommend the place whole heartedly They have live music everyday and Rachel was so talented with her songs on the guitar that the audience could totally see her version of the day She had such a fresh voice enveloped with a hint of country that lit the place on a sunny day!! So go figure Despite being a vegetarian I could tell their oysters were popular as almost every second order was a platter of charcuterie and oysters. But but but - Let me introduce you to the vegetarian version of their specialty- Mushroom manchego Tapas Oh my god! The taste lingered for hours. It was really such a fresh twist- try it and your taste buds would thank you! Just a heads up, it has a drizzle of honey and thus goes well with their signature Sangria and/or their spicy beer aka electric dinosaur on the menu, which by the way was really good too! ~GoExplore
We just had the pleasure of dining at Picnic. Wow, we were so impressed. Their board was absolutely delicious! Such amazing value for what you get. Incredible cocktails as well. Make sure to put this on your list of restaurants to visit. This is a true hidden gem in Orillia. Simon the owner is so kind, and gracious. We will be frequent flyers here.
Amazing experience. Great food. Stellar service! A must try if you are in Orillia.
AWESOME! Cant say enough about great this place is. Excellent friendly and personable service. Simon the owner is an amazing host and Connie and Samantha are people you can say are like family. Really loved our experience and highly reccomend you visit this establishment!
Just amazing. What a little gem to find. Food was fantastic. Parking: I was there on weekend. Lots of free parking on street Food : 5/5 |
The food and service were excellent! The best octopus I have ever had...I love octopus so I have tried it everywhere. Cant say enough positive things, we will be back.
It s a great place, my wife and I were initially going to the restaurant next door but it was too busy so we decided to walk around, we pass by for this restaurant and give it a try. The sangrias were nice. We order various tapas. Mushroom and Machego sandwich: it was my wife s favorite. Baked cheese: super good, it was my favorite, in my wife case she didn t like the sea salt on the bread , unfortunately her first bite was pure salt with honey. But then she was aware of it and enjoy it. We really like the foie Gras, I know it will be my wife s must have every time we go. We also had the duck confit, it was okay. The plate we like the least was the octopus, We discussed that it tasted like canned octopus. We were expecting something else. Service was great, they were all super nice. I noticed in the reviews that people is complaining about the portions beings too small, which I have to differ as the tapas supposed to be small so you can try the whole menu. I was actually super happy that they were small portions (its normal) as we don t eat much and prefer to enjoy the food instead of getting full. We happened to be lucky about the price as we went on a Tuesday and it was half price. Atmosphere is awesome, music is cool and the market looks interesting, we were tired we didn t check much but we saw dry aged and sourdough. We are new in town and for sure we will be back soon to try more things and buy some stuff from the market. Great for inviting friends. Overall we love it.
This place is amazing! Service was amazing as well! I recommend for people to drop by and enjoy great drinks and amazing food. It s a great/fun idea for sharing/trying new and exciting things. My Boyfriend and I are from Toronto, we always pass through Orillia on our travels and so happy to have found this hidden Jem! We are definitely gonna stop by here again! (:
This was our second time eating at Picnic and we loved it just as much as the first time. Meghan our waitress was fantastic, she was able to describe the food perfectly and was just a delightful person. We have met the owner as well, so friendly and his energy is exciting to see, you can tell he is passionate. We love that the menu changes so we can try new dishes. It is our new favourite place to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you and we will be back again.
I love to share! My friend and I ordered 2 dishes each and it was more food than we could eat. The duck confit was outstanding! We also had baked cheese, clams and bacon and the carrot salad *insert chefs kiss* I have been telling everyone I come across that I cant believe it took me so long to visit! I will definitely be back! P.S the service was even better than the food, and the provisions shop means you can take home a little of what you loved
Wasnt impressed, the sever explained the oysters are reg size and large so I got the regular ones assuming they would be the size of most oysters at other restaurants.. they seemed like baby oysters to me.. and very pricey for the size of them ( also tasted salty and gross ) .. to top that off I ordered mussels assuming they come in a shell cooked etc like most restaurants but instead were served in a cold tin can ? Nasty should explain that to customers when ordering or explain it on the menu . I complained sent my order back and they acted as if I should have known and didnt even offer to get me anything else .. to top that off the restaurant still $$$ charged me for them aswell Dont waist your money if I could give no stars I would
It feels like a Barcelona! I cannot believe we were in Orillia Food
A perfect meal in a wonderful little place. We felt like we were in a small place in Spain or Italy. Two of us shared the charcuterie board. Everything on the board was top quality. The staff are very attentive, engaging and are passionate about the food they serve. This is a must place for a meal.
Ill put Picnic Tapas & Wine up against the best of its kind in Toronto, Vancouver, LA or New York. And in my Orillia Top 3, right next to The Common Stove and Rustica. Yes, Picnic is that good. Made our first visit this afternoon for lunch and ordered the PEI cheddar, smoked duck, bread and olives, followed by the Picnic sandwich and zucchini squash salad, paired with the Picnic pinot gris. Delish! Big hats off as well to Meghan, who is probably the best server weve had since landing in Mariposa. Put it on your list and take home a bottle of red or white. (We bought two for Thanksgiving.)
This is without a doubt one of the best dining spots in Orillia. Take advantage of the daily specials and be rewarded - oysters are a must, as well as the mushroom and manchego sandwich, baked cheese, anchovies and duck confit. The pour decision is always the right decision for a drink. Pick up some sourdough or labneh while youre there to take home!
Super cute place for tapas. Octopus was cooked perfectly. The salsa that went with it was missing something. The service was fantastic and the price was well worth it!
My partner and I were visiting from out of town and chose this place after reading raving reviews about it. We couldnt be happier! Knowing now how delicious it was, we wish we came here the night before too! The food and service were incredible. This is one of the rare restaurants where every single dish was delicious. We sat at the bar, and our server (we sadly didnt catch her name) was really friendly and genuine, she even recommended a few of her favourite places to visit around the area. Our favourites were mushroom + manchego, patatas bravas, duck confit and beetroot borani. The mushroom + manchego was so good that we ordered it twice! We also got the picnic red wine and sangria, both were The only sad part about visiting is realizing we cant visit as frequently as we wish! Well definitely be coming back
Great, friendly service and cozy atmosphere. A wide variety of delicious tapas.
Excellent food! Every dish we tried was wonderful. The Electric Dinosour is an excellent drink! Outstanding service.
Wonderful. Great spot for dinner and drinks and also a really cool place to get fresh sourdough bread and high end charcuterie items for takeout.
Small cafe-like restro / market with the loveliest staff and wonderful food. Hyperlocal curated menu that balances well. I loved the mixture of salty and honeyed plates! One of our favourite dishes was the shiishito honey peppers that oozed flavour and hinted with salt and honey. Simple flavours make the most wonderful dishes. Behind the tables was a well stocked pantry with meats, wines, cheeses and other delicious items. Finally, the service was amazing! We were only there to visit and was staying in town, we purchased a pantry item for dinner the same evening and asked for some sea salt to go with our meal. Not only did we get sea salt, but the chef also gave us some smoked salt as a taster! We wouldnt have been happier to have found this gem of a restro. A must stop when youre in Orillia.
My favourite was the flatbread and octopus The blend of flavors is absolutely delish Sangria is also amazing - not too sweet
We went a few days ago and absolutely loved this place. The ambience was cozy. The service was above and beyond expectations. We enjoyed the house wine and loved the small plates plates- Spanish tortilla, mushroom and manchego , and the best was the borani!
Excellent spot for two or a group with small plates to mix and share, along with fantastic cocktails and wine selection. Tried the octopus, pork belly and patatas bravas then bread chorizo, manchego and olives. All were excellent!
Fortunate to have such a cozy and yummy place in Orillia
Such a great experience! Food was so good and staff were amazing, nice cozy atmosphere, they even had live music!
Wonderful!!! Very good food!! Special service.
Nice spot for casual food and good wine. Limited gluten free options but super friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
Great food, amazing cocktails, beer and wine selection. The smoked trout sandwich was the best sandwich I ve had in a long time!
amazing service and food!! Would hightly reccomend!
Wonderful service, from our lovely server. Great atmosphere and daily special!! Love the blankets offered when sitting at table close to door. Cant wait to go back and see live entertainment
Love the Sunday live music..banjo and Fiddle, so cool. Brought me in from the road. To my pleasant surprise, the food options were excellent; this is gourmet, not typical pub food for those wondering. Well worth the money. Service is great, waitress was thoughtful and efficient. Highly recommend this spot
My boyfriend and I stopped in here for lunch on our way to Horseshoe and it was beyond amazing! The food was incredible and the vibe/entertainment was perfect for a Sunday afternoon. We ended up getting a few tapas (Mushroom and Manchego, Potatoe Pancakes, and Duck Confit) and they were out of this world!! Definitely coming again whenever we are up in this area again! Highly recommend!
Having been here on a few occasions, the service and vibe never disappoints! My boyfriend and I really enjoy the live music and intimate atmosphere offered. I have attended wine club which was really fun and a great way to learn more about wines, including new regions as well as the varsity of grape varieties. Picnic offers bottles of wine that arent readily available at the LCBO which is also an added bonus! Overall, a great Orillia gem.
Everything was awesome and the staff if really friendly . They the scallop ceviche. Yum.
Loves it. Great atmosphere, and decent food.
A very charming place. Beautiful plates of food.
I came here with my husband and my parents. It wasnt what we expected, in the sense that its tapas and more of a shared menu than it is the type of restaurant where you each order your own thing. Definitely good to know going into it if you dont all like the same food. That being said, we got oysters, potato pancakes, cauliflower, and then we each got a sandwich of our own. Everything was absolutely delicious! I would recommend this restaurant and Im sure I will be back.
Wine was served in cocktail glasses, no handsoap in washroom, meats and cheeses were just put on a white plate, no presentation whatsoever. If you are used to tapas restaurants in the city this will be a let down. The astmosphere is cute though and the live music was a nice touch. The bread was good.
Amazing hidden gem in Orillia.
Best inhouse smoked turkey sandwich ever! Fresh baked bread delicious, employees are wonderful, great atmosphere, I look forward to returning for more great food and drink.
The food was absolutely divine. Flavours were great, well balanced would absolutely come back. And love the picnic table seating by the open windows!
Birthday meal! What a treat! Great food and service. Definitely coming back.
Sunday afternoon in Orillia. Service was amazing, great cocktails and live music sitting outside on street side patio yes please! Well done, highly recommend
It would be a very pour decision to drive by this place! Unreal tapas!!! Tuesday 1/2 price!!!! Quaint quiet and top shelf quality. An exceptional mouth watering spot with hands on owners and chefs who care about quality and service. A picnic for the palate! Well played
Incredible food and amazing service!! If youre debating, just try it. You will not be dissapointed
Dinner today at PICNIC was absolutely to die for. Chef Joel is certainly showing the town of Orillia how food is supposed to be done, and his service staff also make your dining experience one to remember! With his culinary background decorated as it is, it definitely shows through his plates and flavors and the atmosphere he has created here. All of the food was amazing, scallop ceviche, oysters, brisket croquettes, duck confit, and the basque cheesecake (all of which I tried today!) were all so good, Ill surely be back to try the rest of the menu. If you havent been here yet, your missing out! Thanks for the amazing everything!
Great food with good vibes. Staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations. The ceviche and oysters were fresh, while the mushrooms+manchego was savoury with some sweetness from the honey. We would love to come back to try the rest of the menu. Highly recommended!
Fantastic tapas restaurant located in downtown Orillia. The mushroom toast was so good we got two orders. It is perfectly toasted and also drizzled with some honey. I would go back to eat just that. The duck confit was good. It was garnished with some berries which weren t too sweet. The foie gras dish was also unique and great as an app. We got a bunch of drinks, including some cocktails and wines. The place has a nice ambiance as well. At the back of the store they also have a retail store portion where they sell cool foods.
Stopped in after a round of golf with my boyfriend for a quick bite and had the best experience. We ordered oysters and a mix of charcuterie and the food was so fresh and delicious. Shay our server was very pleasant and the owner, Simon, was kind and informative! Highly recommend
Atmosphere, food, and service were perfection. Despite us having a few questions and needs (ex: allergies), everything was handled so kindly and efficiently. Hilariously our absolute favourite out of everything was their house bread-- and that says a lot, because every dish was delicious! Well absolutely be back
Tried this wonderful tapas spot in Orillia tonight and had an amazing time. The atmosphere was chill with great music playing, cool decor with amazing service and incredible food. Wish they sold their hot peppers that come with the oysters. I ll put that sh*t on everything. Not spicy at all but very tasty. Would recommend and Definitely coming back!!!
Very friendly accommodating staff. Really neat concept for a restaurant :) will be back for dinner
I love everything about this place. They have a cute little picnic table inside this reataurant! So cute lol. Anyways, I ordered 2 dozen oysters, octopus ans smoked chicken sandwich. All 3 items came out and it was delicious. I highly recommend the electric unicorn draft!!! The beer was delicious and crisp!! I will definitely come back here again the next time I come to Orillia!
My husband and I we decided to take a day trip to Orillia and we walked to downtown and we found this picnic tapas restaurant we want to give it a try hen I see oysters for my surprise this place is amazing , service súper kay was very attentive and help us to decide which wine and for the oysters she nailed her suggestion we went for to order more Thank you for this amazing experience specially for my husband the first time he trying oysters
I drove almost 2 hours to get to the restaurant for lunch. Its worth it. The place was not really big but cozy. Service is friendly and attentive. You will feel being welcomed and a sense of relaxation here. The food is awesome especially the osyter and beef carpaccio. In fact, I believe all other tapas dishes are great too. I highly recommend this place.
Love the menu and the staff are really nice. It s a welcome addition to Orillia! Unfortunately the owner (who also owns Common Stove) is unwelcoming compared to the rest of the staff. I ve had the same experience with him at both restaurants. He should really stay behind the scenes and not interact with guests.
Loved the oysters, potato pancakes and foie gras that we ordered which seemed to be thoughtfully prepared here. Its sweet and intimate ambience makes this place too underrated.
The wait staff was incredible but the food was disappointing. Every dish was overpriced and underwhelming. The octopus was inedible. I would guess largely due to the cheap quality of the fish. The oysters were overpriced. 6 for $22. And they lacked flavour.
Staffs are great! However, foods are well overpriced. We had 3 sandwiches and 2 tapas (Octopus and Le pizy Cheese). Octopus only comes with two tiny pieces and its $13.99! I cant see anyway to share, its just ridiculous with the price, other foods also very pricy for the taste and portion. Le pizy cheese is fine with honey, not much special and the bread were so hard! 2 of the sandwiches also very hard to bite! Its like the bread bread has been left for days! We know how fresh bread is like especially for sour dough but this is way too hard! Mushroom sandwich was ok (again with honey, so it taste sweet), but very small portion (my son could eat 3 orders of it!). Overall, wont be back ... mainly because foods are overpriced and not much special.
Dinner Saturday night before going to see music at Rama. charming intimate setting --no fluff total character-- assorted tapas all delicious----our table shared most of the menu washed down with tasty cocktails. This is a wee Gem not to be missed! Service outstanding and entertaining. We were recommended by friends, and all left very pleased! Vegetarian options: This restaurant has vegetarian options. However, their main menu is geared to culinary flexibility. Which entails full range eating!
Co owner at the front positively unwelcoming.Wine selection paltry. Served in orange juice glasses. Bread..excellent. Olives small and inferior. Chirorzo mild= tasteless Overall tapas options..most restricted.
Great spot for lunch or drinks on the weekend. Best wine selection that make the perfect gift!
Mushroom Manchego Sandwich Duck confit Baked Le Pizza Cheese Food : 5/5
Another great restaurant concept in Orillia. Fun shopping for Local and fresh products. We had a wonderful Picnic with all the provisions provided. Congratulations and thanks for opening during this crazy time.It made our day great.

Great food, great beers, great venue.
Food was great, so was the service. Waitress was very professional and tentative. Impressive!
My new favourite place in Orillia. AMAZING food!!! Definitely recommend!
The croquettes are a life changing experience. But everything on this menu is a delight.
Super friendly front end staff. Food was amazing!
Great little spot. Good food, wine, drinks and vibe. Friendly service amazing selection in wines and snacks.
Great little spot to relax and grab some great tasting food/snacks! Cute little shop in the store too. Awesome hotsauce! Have gone several times always a great experience
What a delightful spot. My family stopped on the way back to Hamilton from a visit to Bracebridge. We had eaten at the Common Stove last year and were planning to stop there again when we found out about PICNIC and opted to try this new place. We ordered almost everything on the menu and not a single dish was remotely disappointing. Each bite was phenomenal. The trout tartare was especially good. The service was impeccable, relaxed and genuine. The room feels like a great place to sit with a bottle of wine and a good friend while enjoying thoughtful, well executed plates of delicious treats. Makes me wish we lived close enough to be regulars.
Great food
I ordered picnic sandwiches for a lunch celebration for my moms 90th bday with her three sisters. They were delicious & they all loved them. Thank you for the extras you sent along with the order.
Great place and atmosphere for an afternoon drink and snacks. Will be back for a more substantial meal but impressed so far!
One of the best meals Ive had in a very long time. Dishes were well portioned and staff very friendly. 100% going back!
Great food and service
Phenomenal service, food & times! Pictured is the Pork Belly ....
A great local dining & grocery experience! Unqiue locally made artisan goods, tapas, wine, and more! We picked up a bag of locally ground coffee which had some great flavours.
Great is dropped
Everything was well made with quality ingredients. Its a little pricey and the portions are smaller but its perfect if youre just looking for a small meal, or you want to try multiple things.
Great place, great food, great people!!
Simply the best, all around! The customer service, the food, the atmosphere... all so so great. They have weekly special events that are so engaging and keep me coming back! My personal fav is Wine Club every Thursday where the staff educate the participants with so many fun facts about each wine they serve. Ive never had anything there that I havent loved- that goes for food and drinks!! Thanks guys for providing Orillia with such a special place to gather :)
Service was great and very fun atmosphere!!
