Amazing service and food. We have been ordering from New Mukut for years and have never disappoint. Highly recommend.
First and last time. Did not like my food at all. Got the chicken biryani and matar paneer, both tasted bland.
First order, and a mixed result. Delivered order through Uber arrived in a very timely manner and well packaged, still hot and before predicted time, so that was nice. I enjoyed the mango lassi and the samosa chaat. The chicken korma and the paneer masala were both kind of okay, but were also a little more watery and sugary than I am used to. I was not enthusiastic to finish them, a rarity with Indian food. Perhaps that is simply my personal taste though, and someone else in the household really enjoyed the paneer masala. I also thought the amount of meat and paneer in the dishes was good and compared positively to other Indian take outs we've had. Lastly, I had the garlic naan. The bread was well cooked, however the garlic was garlic powder! It made the naan feel dry, and the taste of garlic powder is distinctly different to that of fresh garlic, and doesn't feel or taste very nice when combined with some dry piece of bread. I would usually not order again simply for this garlic naan alone, but the overly sweet and slightly too thin dishes did have some flavour, so perhaps I'll order a second time to see how other dishes turn out.
If I had an option of giving negative stars! I would undoubtedly give them! Worst food ever, please stop fooling people by giving this type of food! The curry was full of sugar and we order biryani and they gave us rice with frozen vegetables! Waste of money, I would not recommend at all…
Ridiculously small portions, not a place I'll order from again. $14 for 2 tablespoons of curry serving. Save your money and buy elsewhere, I love indian cuisine and always on the lookout to try new places and this is the first disappointment. The taste is not great, I would know, being half Indian myself.

We came here with a Groupon for $30 worth of food (for $14.20) at 8:30pm on a Sunday. In short, my experience was similar to the (yelp-hidden) 1-star review below by Brian S. FOOD & SERVICE FAIL For the Groupon, we could only choose from the "dinner combo for two" menu. There were 4 combos to choose from. At this point, our server tells us that "naan, dal soup, and beef anything are unavailable" because there was a huge takeout order right before we showed up that completely depleted their naan, dal soup, and beef supply. I had several issues with this: - There was still 1.5 hours to closing time...and the restaurant will be open for tomorrow...so couldn't they make more? At least the naan? - This means that 3 out of 5 items that comes with ANY of the combo are unavailable. - If they didn't have any more ingredients to make the items and have to wait until tomorrow, then I can understand. But at least they should have offered other substitutes. To have fluffy warm naan is kind of a major reason we come to Indian restaurants, so we were already pretty disappointed, but when we asked for substitutes of the same menu prices (e.g. chai tea, raita, appetizers, etc.), the guy just said no. The only substitute we can get is just... more rice. Disappointed, we accepted this and ordered the Noorjahan Dinner, with lamb saag as substitute for beef curry (this they were ok with). I specifically said I don't want the Kohinoor Dinner because we have been eating a lot of chicken these days, and I can't eat the green peas in Aloo Peas. What came to our table was none other than the Kohinoor Dinner, exactly the thing I said out loud to the server I didn't want. Server checked his paper, and said that was his fault. At this point we were pretty unhappy, so I gave him 2 options: 1) we'll eat whatever they served and they reduce the entire meal price to $30 (instead of $45.99) for all the trouble 2) give us what we ordered and and we will pay the full price .....subtly pushing for Option 1. As expected, the restaurant went ahead with Option 2, and quickly cooked up the shrimp (frozen and not seasoned) and the vegetable bhaji (so so). Despite his mistake, I kind of felt bad for the server because, throughout this disastrous meal, he was basically a messenger between us and the owner/chef/management, who never had the guts to ever come out to talk to us in person. FOOD WIN The Mulligatawny Soup was really good. If the other items were all this good, I would have given 3 stars despite the service disappointments. +0.5 star AMBIANCE, CLEANLINESS The restaurant was quiet and had nice ambiance. The washroom was quite clean as well so props to that. +0.5 star OVERALL I would agree that this Groupon was a bit misleading. I also think that the management has terrible business sense - how much would it cost to substitute naan or dal soup with a tea, or raita, or lassi - if it can make the customer happy and make them come back? I also question the integrity of an owner/manager who doesn't want to apologize in person and insists on using a new, scared AF server as a messenger with unhappy customers. Food was OK but would not return.

Dahl soup was watery and flavour-less. Both the butter chicken and lamb korma were very oily and overly sweet. It seems to have been made by someone who hates Indian food. Gross.
I ordered chicken biryani and it was nothing like a biryani. It just just white rice with a bit of turmeric, chicken, onion, cloves and cinnamon. I needed to add salt to make the onion-rice dish taste a little bit better.
Been going for years( roughly 8). The food is flavourful perfect balance of spice in all dishes. Kid-friendliness: They always great us and ask how they family is doing
If you re looking for authentic Indian, this is by far one of the best restaurants that offers it. It s affordable, delicious and usually doesn t take much time to prepare. The dining room is a bit small, but it makes for a more intimate and authentic dining experience. I highly recommend New Mukut to anyone that is looking for authentic and good Indian food

I used to eat here every Friday when I lived in Ottawa I still them about this place. The food is absolutely amazing, the flavours are incredible. The owner is so sweet, I used to get the samosa and tikka masala with a side of naan. You need to try it!!
This restaurant is a prime example of a typical Ottawa Indian restaurant. Ridiculously overpriced, small portions, very bland food and inauthentic. Just a trash restaurant.

First time ordering from New Mukut bur will not be the last. Food was flavourful, spicy but yet sweet. The perfect meal and generous portion in the combo for two.
One of our go-to spots for Indian food. They are one of a few restaurants that offer Pasanda (chicken, lamb, shrimp) which I believe is a northern India dish. I really like the sauces here since it has a slight sweetness. The butter chicken is also very good with a nice thick sauce along with sides like palao rice and, of course, naan. Recommended if you like this style of Indian cuisine since it s a bit different from the other southern Indian style restaurants.

Who puts raisins in biryani? The biryani tasted bad and its sweet like halwa. Puris were tandoori naan fried in oil. Total waste of money

Ordered tandoori chicken. , it was good , ordered chicken tikka not even close to any pictures I ve seen , will not be going back to this restaurant any time soon , chicken tikka was cut in medallions and very dry , served on a huge pile of rice

Very nice. Butter Chicken curry is rich. Gluten free options too which is nice. Large portions for the price. Would order again to try the other options.

We have ordered take out from New Mukut several times over the past couple of years and have always been impressed with the quality. We absolutely love it.
Food is Delicious!
Pulao rice was not what its supposed to be. Just plain rice with some oily red liquid sprinkled on. The Madras chicken had no flavour except the spice, and the sauce was watery. The begun bhaji was ok, but the eggplant was slightly undercooked. I used to go to this place until sometime in 2014 and it wasnt bad, just wasnt great. Decided to try them again tonight. Never ordering again. When I first opened the bag it smelled like tomato paste.
My parents introduced me to this restaurant- theyve been dining here for a couple of years. Excellent experience overall, with fast & friendly service and delicious food. We had the chicken vindaloo, chicken madras, butter chicken and naan, and all dishes were very good. Ill be back.

**DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!!** Horrible!!! I placed an order through Skip the Dishes, had never eaten there before. First off its way too pricey for the amount of food you receive $16 for a small styrofoam container and $3 for a small naan. I ordered the butter chicken but what arrived was def not that. I had chicken but was filled with coconut and raisins, much more like their description of Chicken Tikki Massala. Plus it was so sweet it was almost inedible. I called the manager the next day to inform him there had been a mix up and was told I didnt know what I was talking about, that butter chicken is sweet. When I told him that it matched the description of something else he said why would he make something I didnt order. He asked for my order number, I told him I didnt have it, he said how could he know then if I even ordered from him!!! Told me to call back with the proof and hung up on me. He was so incredibly rude, and condescending, and kept talking over me telling me how wrong I was. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!!
Today i made an order and i am so disappointed. Firstly the portion sizes are soo small, why do even care to give the food we will just donate the money. Kashmiri chicken should be part of their dessert menu, and we have send a search mission to find paneer in matar paneer curry. The only saving grace was Lamb again $14 they will give you a simple size. Never going back for that portion and prices
Great Indian food, naan is fantastic
Have been there twice for lunch and both times the food and the service were great. Small inside maybe 15 to 20 tables . Always clean and pleasant . Will have to try going there for dinner soon. Pricing isnt too bad.
Stangest indian food I have ever tried. I got Saag Paneer and Chicken skewers. The Saag Paneer looks and tastes more like something youd get from a chinese resteraunt and the Chicken skewers came in a styrofoam take out container. The chicken skewers should be on skewer sticks. The chicken is also dry and bland with what appears to be soup or water. Will not be ordering again.

Please change your online open times. This is twice now that weve called on a Sunday for a large take out order and they state they are closed, but their website says open at 5. So disappointing. The last time we ordered the portains were incredibly small for the price. Theyve officially lost very good customers.

We usually have to go downtown for truly amazing east Indian food. We decided to try this place last week. We ordered delivery. This is the first east Indian restaurant serving up truly phenomenal food. Tried the lamb korma, aloo gobi and butter chicken (and palao rice). Their version of these dishes was really something. They have achieved a really impressive balance in their flavours. The food is 5/5. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is that it is a tad pricey for the portions offered. Something I am willing to overlook for the high quality of the food. This is a real gem within Orleans.

Overall the food is very good, however it is a little pricy for the amount of food you recieve.
The food was delicious. We were the only customers, perhaps this played a part. I would rated it one star higher, however, did not for a few reasons. Service was not personable. Air was not ventilated at all - to the point where I will say, do not wear cherished clothing, because the smell of the oil and spices will not wash out. Halfway through supper my eyes were irritated and although I was enjoying the taste and quality of the food, I was not enjoying the experience. All that needs to be done is: smile more and air out the place, regularly.
Food is good. Reasonably priced. Great for vegetarians. Wine selection and the bar is not that great but their indian beer is good.
Complete rip off. Order for eight if you need to feed two. Over priced and the portions are so small that my tweezers were too big. What a disgrace. Should be reported for gouging. Id comment on the food but .... what food?
We come here once or twice a month. Its simply our favorite place to eat in Orleans. I try a new dish every time I come and am amazed at the different flavours. Service is fast and responsive - if you need more of something, you get it immediately.

I love that we have a great place to dine-in or take-out/delivery for Indian food in my neck of the woods. Personally I prefer to get take-out as the dinning room is a little small, and in the winter time a little. The food is very delicious.
We ordered delivery tonight - an order of Chicken Madras and Butter Chicken. The portion for the price seems expensive and the dish doesnt come with rice (so we had to make our own at home). Delivery costs are high at $6. Will try Rangoli on St. Joseph next time we crave Indian food.
I purchased a Groupon deal for $30 worth of food (for $17) at the New Mukat Restaurant in Orleans, Ontario. When I arrived I was told that I could only order off of one page on their menu. When I tried to make an order that was under $30 , I was told that the only items I could order were the $45 dishes. They would not allow me to order a $25 dish saying that I had to order more that the groupon was worth. This is called bait and switch and is illegal. It is basically extorting the customer. A business cannot advertise a sale price then force the customer to spend more to salvage their coupon which is what I was forced to do. I am very upset about being forced to order a $45 dollar dish when there was no indication on the fine print that that was the case. This restaurant is misleading Groupon into selling discounted deals when they change the deal at the point of ordering. I would not recommend this restaurant due to this shady practice they have instituted. Do not support this restaurant and most importantly do not buy the Groupon!!!
Asked to have a custom order and they were exceptionally accommodating. Food was tasty and delicious, the staff were very courteous and made excellent suggestions.
We ordered 2 big meals the chicken tandouri and butter chicken with extra rice, they did not want to take our groupon and they didnt even come to refill our water cups even tho the restaurant was half capacity. They also tried to charge extra for the meal and i got them to correct it. When paying the lady was very rude so i would not recommend this place i have tried better indian food places in ottawa.
We had always enjoyed the Makut on Rideau, so were very happy to find the New Makut. The food is delicious. It is not overly fatty (Ghee or oil), and the quality of the food is the best. There are lots of options. We love this restaurant - sit in or take out. The Vegetarian Ghandis Favourite dinner for two is an excellent deal.

I dont know where to start . First of all dont buy their Groupon . They force to get their combos with limited options. Thats more then 45 dollers. Second only one bread for dinner for two . Lol half bread per person . They dont pay tip to serve . They get tip from them. I met lady in market. She served me in new mukut. They never paid her . They are in labour court. I will never go again here
I am Indian and went their to enjoy Indian food. As a Indian I can tell they dont know anything about India food . They are from Bangladesh and their food is not in the way it suppose to be . Their food taste like just microved, it does not taste fresh or cooked with technique . Its just time pass food , Id you want to enjoy real food go to rangoli and you will ve see the difference, avoid this restaurant
I visit this place on last Friday . First of all food is very expensive. They dont accept Groupon 4 other menu items. they want you to buy dinner for two combinations. I wanted to spend my Groupon this is why I made order for dinner for two. i was surprised to see quantities. it look like kids meals. I was so disappointed they only give us one bread that was terrible. there is no salad with combination only small quantity of rice. There is no choice for dessert this earlier whatever they want when I went there to pay I was overcharged they try to rip you off same thing happened with me friend be aware of them they are not honest people. Poor food stay away big no no
I found the prices to be a bit high compared to other Indian cuisine establishments around ottawa.The quality of the food was not as good as other places,namely Rangolis in Orleans.The portions were smaller and they lacked any choice of deserts besides the one option they have.I wont be ordering from them again
Lunch specials are very affordable. Great tasting. Spice levels (heat) are as they should be and not lowered. This is a huge +.
I dont often write reviews, but I felt as if I had to for this place. I was warned about their Groupon practices so I decided to just go as a regular customer. I had the take-out, which was a bit weird as there isnt really anywhere to wait but stand at the bar for about 15 minutes while other people are brushing elbows trying to pay etc. [Food] I had the butter chicken, vegetable korma and 2 naan bread. The butter chicken was alright, vegetable korma was a bit lacking but the naan bread was pretty solid. Pretty disappointing that these dishes did not come with basmati rice, as it is usually a staple that goes along with it. Overall Id give it 2.5/5 [Price] This is the part that blew me away.... for $35 I got 2 small containers. It was not worth the price in the least bit. 1/5 [Service] Pretty meh, Ive had better conversations with a stone wall. 1/5 Im not sure if Ill ever go back, I rather drive across town to Urban Tandoor or Coconut Lagoon and get well priced, better food.
Great food, never misses to satisfy. There could be a little more for the cost but you dont go away hungry. You can go from mild to extra hot so there is something for every palate. Service is good to so-so but thats not what I go for.
