Great food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere

Its your typical bar ( like a Lonestar or Kelseys,or Montanas). Wasnt very busy when I was there. Service was a bit slow! Dont order a double martini as it didnt taste like there was any alcohol in it at all. The server at least gave me 5 olives. It was an ok experience. Id been there before for breakfast and even that wasnt oh so good. UPDATE: This place responded to me to contact Amy months ago which I did and havent received any response from her!

Arrived and were told it would be a 20 minute wait, not an issue. Though some tables were being cleared but they still werent seating anyone. After waiting for 15-17 minutes. 2 ladies walked in and were told to wait, they just sat at the nearest table, the hostess didnt say anything, a waitress came over and gave them menus and serves them coffee/drinks. I asked why they were seated and the hostess said there was a mixup and she was sorry but we still had to wait. I asked to speak to the manager and someone came out saying they would clean a small table to fit us in, even though there were a few empty booths. Ended up leaving, just crappy service and they didnt really care that it happened.

Barley Mow is a great pub and restaurant. The food was great and the staff were kind and attentive. Great atmosphere. If youre in the east end of Ottawa (Orleans), definitely pop on by.

I went on a Monday night, so this review is skewed in the sense that I understand the atmosphere would be lacking. It was very quiet and dull on a Monday. The server was great! Food was great, and decent prices. The venue was clean and truly only positive things to say.

Had the fish and chips. Batter was good, fries were salty and not enough and tartar sause was wrong (it was spicy). Fish was good though.

My parents are up to help me move and we decided to pop in around lunch time for a meal. The atmosphere is definitely pub/bar, old wood topped tables with the finish coming off, TVs with the game on, etc. They were pretty quiet for the lunch period, so service and food was fast. So my Dad is a professionally trained chef and uses a hearing aid, which often makes going to restaurants not an enjoyable experience for him as they are often too loud and he usually ends up saying he can make better at home. So we expecting some standard hearty but slight greasy pub food. Both my dad and I order a burger and ceaser salad and the food was incredible! I have to rave about the ceaser salad!!!! The salad came with a full, perfectly crispy slice of bacon on top, real parmasean, capers! And garlic infused curton chips. My dad commented that the dressing was likely made in house too. I was worried when I saw the capers as I thought the salad was going to be too overpowerjng or salty, but the flavours were well balanced. The burgers were also top notch as well! And my mom got the donair which she did not share lol, which she always wants to share her food when we go out. Also even though its a bar atmosphere, the music wasnt blaring and it was easy for my dad hear and participate in conversation. (I imagine its much noisier when they are busy). I highly recommend poping for lunch and will be back again!

I recently visited the Barley Mow in Orleans and I have to say. What an experience! They went above and beyond and provided us with a Twin Peaks level of service, which by my standards is an incredible experience. Our volleyball team was greeted by a wonderful server named Nick and he was so kind to provide us with free nachos, apparently they do this for all sports teams. So, definitely mention it if you re there with your team! Also, the water was like no other. Only establishment I know to serve up glacier water. It was ice cold and really quenched my thirst better than any other water I ve tried at other restaurants. The only knock is they charge for ice ($4.00) but we opted to go iceless, times are tough you know. The food my team ate (and didn t offer me any samples, fyi) looked great and they thoroughly enjoyed. Washroom facilities were neat and tidy, until I had my way with them. Highly recommend this establishment. Especially for sports teams! Dietary restrictions: Halal friendly.

Th worst dinning experience of my life. We were told that because they had just lauched a new menu and had 1 big party (10 people) the food was going to be around 45 min. We agreed cause we already had ordered our drinks... well we should have left then and there ... After 1. 5 hrs the food came, I took a bite of my sandwich and it was horrible the taste, the texture just not good at all... I was starving so I literally would have eaten anything but still that was inedible ... will never come back please spend your money elsewhere... No manager on site to apologize or fix the problem

Congratulations to the whole Barley Mow team on their hard work and dedication trying to launch their new summer menu. Its not easy switching a handful of dishes on a menu let alone a whole new menu for a menu launch and expect there to be no growing pains. Dont let these hateful/hurtful reviews get you down, its not their fault theyve never been in your situation, they dont know any better. Walk a mile in someones shoes then feel free to comment.... I just wanted to let you know that plenty of us understand what your going through and thank you. Great job and keep up the hard work! No doubt all the growing pains of launching a new menu will be ironed out in no time at all.

I have been here many times, service and food has been always good, they provide service and food later on the days of the weeks when other estaurants dont like to see your face anymore! Kids eat free on sunday when Adults order a meal! Parking: Plenty of Parking for free. There are multiple parking connected here all over. I used to like this place but have not been there for a year. Our experience on Mother s Day was awful. We did not have a reservation but the place was not full at all around 5pm (half empty). We waited an hour and half for our food, nothing complicated, a Caesar salad with blackened chicken, veggie wrap (gyro) with blackened chicken and a beef sandwich, it took for ever. Some other people came after us, were served and left and we were still waiting for our food. When it finally came, the Caesar salad looked like a 5yr old made it, chopped lettuce, Caesar dressing and one whole slice of bacon on the side, that s it worst Caesar salad ever, not tasty at all, the chicken on the top was ridiculously burnt, like all burnt with a bitter taste. The same burnt chicken was used for the gyro wrap, like how can you serve something like this ? I did not taste the beef sandwich but seems like it was not great but okay. I suspect the server knew because he never asked if we liked the food. Did not bother providing feedback at that point, but definitely not going back to this place ever may be it was a bad day but we definitely wasted our time and money

Came for the first time yesterday and will certainly be back. We got incredible service by the server Audrey who helped guide us through the menu and offered good wine pairings. The food was great and everyone enjoyed their time. Added bonus, we were served in both French and English to accommodate everyone at the table!

Ran out of wings at wing night after we waited for an hour when we were told 30 minutes!!!! Pathetic.

Pretty disappointed with our experience tonight

My experience at The Barley Mow was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. After waiting for what felt like an eternity an hour and a half to be exact I was informed that they had run out of wings, a staple item on their menu. This egregious oversight set the tone for the rest of the evening, which can only be described as a series of disappointments. The management left be absolutley flabergasted. I was there for the 10 cent wing night, and it was clear that management obviously did not prepare for the swarm of people looking for a cheap dinner. In this economy, deals like this are once in a blue moon. In conclusion, my experience at The Barley Mow was a complete and utter disappointment. There is nothing redeeming to be said about this establishment. Save yourself the trouble and dine elsewhere.

Always great service, even when its really busy. We love the 1000 islands Stout and every food choice weve tried, as well as the friendly staff and manager. She clearly supports her team.

Attended this location a Wednesday evening. Might have been 15-20 people at the most. Order two craft beers, which took about 12-15 minutes to arrive and to make matter worst, they were both very Flat and Warm. After asking for something else, cold and tasty, it took an other 12-15 minutes, it came at the same time with our Blackened Chicken Burger (ordered) after taking the first bike, it turned out it was the beef Barley Burger!! If it least the place was fun and buzzing, it was emptied and still, it was a Train Wreck! NOT Again!!!

Food was good, service was friendly. Went for lunch and we had two fish and chips and two beers for $50. The regular menu is a little more $$ but probably worth it because the food is better than average. Have been for breakfast, very good!

I had the fish and chips.... Delicious! Very thick, flaky white fish... and nice light batter. I added gravy... Delicious! Service was excellent!

The service was quite poor, and the waitress was somewhat rude. I have eaten better food elsewhere for much cheaper. I d recommend other bars over this one. Not sure how they are still in business with their terrible practices.

I went in last night and the Restaurant was practically empty. I was greeted by Jules at the bar. She was absolutely wonderful and gave top level customer service. We had pleasant conversation while she cared and cleaned the bar. I ordered the Blackened chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Thank you for a great Sunday evening experience. Jules you re a Rockstar!

The food is a great portion and reasonably priced but the service is slow and laid back a bit. The atmosphere was very noisy considering their were only a few people in the restaurant you would never no it. Some people just over do it unfortunately. But overall I do recommend this this restaurant as one of my favorites to go to.

Incredible service! Food was fresh cut veggies delicious seared chicken. Oh my heart I love this place!

The chicken wrap I recieved was good. The portion for the sweet potatoe fries was super small. The other dish was the Malaysian chicken with wild rice. There was barely any rice in there. Wife couldnt eat her dish. For the amount you pay and what you receive it isnt worth it. This was on take out.

Good food, nice service. Food took a long while to arrive, but it was a Friday night and quite full, so understandable. My dish (Malaysian Chicken) was a little too peppery, but still tasty. All in all a very good experience and I recommend it.

Went for dinner on Saturday, Annika was an amazing server. She gave us great recommendations and explained the specials in detail (which was appreciated as it was our first time here). She was very confident in her knowledge of menu and gave us amazing options for our dietary restrictions. Will definitely be back soon maybe for breakfast this time to try that out next time!

Limited menu for St. Patricks Day. Everything was good: fried zucchini, perogies, onion soup, chicken wings, fish & chips, hamburger. Courteous service. The dishes are served without waiting.

I do enjoy that they have Kronenbourg Blanc on tap. Nice location. Extensive menu. Parking lot is busy and not so great. Great live music (Jayla Kirkey, Ben Cooper, Chris Gagnon, and Jasen Colson, just to name a few!) I wish that The Barley Mow would post their live music calendar on their website for each location. I have to search socials, and Orleans doesn t have an Instagram account, only Facebook, so most of the time I can t find a calendar of listings. If I manage to find a listing picture, it s usually from last weekend, outdated, or only has a few dates.

Went there, they told us to wait at the bar, forget about us till we ask why people showing up after us got their table while were sitting at the bar. They finaly got us a table, a kid took our orders, he came back 20 minutes later to ask if we were rdy to order, we told him that we gave it to him 20 min ago, he apologize... An hour later ( basicly almost 2 hours in this place), with no sign of our plates, we left (9:00 pm) the place with our drinks half full. These lunatics ruin our Thursday night, literally!

Music was terrible, just tip pop Playlist... go to a pub to here music with some culture.

Ive been here several times for a cold quaff. The staff is friendly and on the ball. I ventured to try a Caesar salad today. One of the best ever. Scrumptious signature dressing, deep-fried capers and perfect little bacon pieces. Great price point too. Ill be trying it again soon.

This is our neighbourhood pub and we come about once a week. They have a good selection of beers, and a great patio. Their daily specials are quite a good deal, basically you get a beer for $1/2 with the meal of the day. Our favourite is their fish n chips!

It was great. Sydney our server was professional and friendly. Liked that we had options. The food was really good. My daughter and I had the Chicken Naan. Chicken was moist, tasty and it was all fresh. I will definitely go back again and probably order the same thing. Husband had fish n chips, son in law had the beef dip sandwich. They both enjoyed their choices.

Hands down the best meals Ive ever eaten in a pub- ever. Ever. At least from memories. Classy joint, kept clean, roomy and well-appointed. Theyre knowledgeable about the menu and genuinely interested in your enjoyable experience. Been to this locale before, will return again for food, fun and festivities. Hope OCtranspo scheds FT bus connection to new train stops ... Features live music THU/FRI/SAT. I enjoyed a guitarist + his iPod (as backup) loudly streamed on house speakers. Good effort, but an Orleans crowd merits more at the start of the weekend, no? I visited Barley mow tenth line in a weekend but during the day. The atmosphere was very quiet but it seems there was an animation and karaoke in the evenings. The bird were good and the draught amber beer was amazing! I recommend the beer though and will post a review when i visit the same location during some events at night. Its always a great time at the Barley Mow when Ben Cooper is performing.

In spite of them having a large reservation, food was fast and delicious. One of the best fish and chips. Also, the second piece for $9 seems tempting, but stick with the one. It s a large piece!

It s been a long time since I was at this location. Do I decided to give it a try. When I found out it has Sober Sailor on its beverage menu. That gave them big points. As I m a non-drinker. They get their beer from 1000 Islands Brewery. The food was tasty and our server. Although I did not get her name. She was friendly, funny and knew when to approach. I will be back

Food is mediocre, service is strange. Took one evening to realize why this place is always dead. Actually surprised this place has been open as long as it has.

Went on a kids eat free Sunday brunch. Food was below average for the cost, even with the comped kids meals. 3 adult meals and one drink came up to $90- would have been cheaper and better quality to go to a designated breakfast/brunch place. Service was slow and it wasnt even busy. Staff was friendly but doesnt make up for the poor experience overall. Wont be back.

Great food with great price

Food was less than mediocre, really, my high school cafeterias food was way better, the chicken was dry, the rice was almost like plastic, the mashed potatoes had les flavor than a plain rice cake, the stew was 70% carrots, 30% beef. The service was not very good, the only possible redeeming quality could have been the live music which was cool but they had the radio playing at the same time so it was completely unenjoyable, I wont come again.

My first and last time at this place. Ordered a beef stew that came like 90% carrots and celery. It took almost 1h after ordering. The taste was well below average. My son ordered the butter chicken. It was really not good either. I am in shock asking myself how a place like this is still in businesses. I suppose that only because of the convenient location. I am even more in shock for some good reviews. It was a total disappointment.

These guys dont know but they have the best poutine in town. Love it

We went during costumer appreciation night and was pleasantly surprised that although we were not regulars, we were treated like we were. Free beer and apps, we ordered meals and enjoyed the live music. Great little pub.

Came in, had to wait to get seated. Made eye contact with a couple of bartenders/hosts yet not a single one came to seat me, they continued their conversation. Ended up leaving after a few mins of wait. Lack of service and courtesy that s for sure. Disappointing since I usually get great service.

A nice Saturday night dinner with great portions, quality beer, and a nice atmosphere. The live music was a little quiet and the food took a bit long to reach us, but thats all that takes this away from a 5 star. Wouldnt avoid this place in the future!

Not feeling the love this evening. Turned up specifically for the Prime Rib tonight to be told there was none left. And this was at 7:00pm. The day I have to call a restaurant ahead, to make sure they have whats on the menu that evening, thats the day I stop going. Bitterly disappointed.

I went for drinks with a friend and the live music was exquisite. It appears that cleanliness is a priority. Also, the bartender Amy was very friendly. I would return.

Phenomenal service

Great food and great drink. Unfortunately many of the weekly meal deals require you to order beer to qualify which eliminates those that don t, or can t (under 19) drink. I ve got nothing against those who do but perhaps an option for those who don t might benefit the restaurant as more would order the deals. Aside from that the food was excellent and the service always fast and friendly.

Just had supper at Barley Mow .very disappointed .calamari was extremely salty and over cooked as were the fries. I was looking forward to smoked meat which was only 1/2 inch thick, tough and on a croissant rather than rye. My wife s prime rib was very nice.

It was my first time going there...and I was surprised at how good the food was..big portions at a great price..the service was quick friendly and professional.i will definitely go back!!!

The server was very easy going. Ordered black coffee at 6 pm. It wasn t very warm had to ask for refill which was the end of pot. He asked me if he should make another pot. I thought that was strange since he volunteered that their left over cover goes in fridge for their cold brew. Other than that their food is always delicious.

Had dinner here last week. No Goose Island IPA on tap anymore. Too bad :(

My friend and I had lunch at Barley Mow in Orleans yesterday; we had the absolute pleasure of being served by Annica she was wonderful! The menu/specials were explained in a concise and friendly manner. She was friendly and professional and an absolute delight.

Worse order I have ever had from any restaurant. I called and tried to cxl order asap but Uber having issues. Sorry can cxl order but change you so send it over 50 dollars and the food is not fit to feed an animal !!! Stay away from this one trust me!!!
