Went for a nice meal with a family party of 6. The meal started out nicely. However when the mains were being delivered I was suddenly told my entee was not available. No compensation or accommodation was offered and then service went from good to poor when out server stopped coming by. The bill didnt even show the change in entree. Wont be back. Atmosphere was very loud warehouse unfortunately

Nice atmosphere. Got fish and chips, very big portions and looked amazing, but was oily, overcooked, dry, tasteless, like eating giant cardboard bits. Was given what I was told was capers, they did not look like capers to me but ok.. sure. Fries were soggy but well seasoned. The desert was absolutely disgusting, cheese cake was flat, tasteless (except for the raspberry sauce which was actually really nice). My son s crème Brule was inedible. Cesar (drink) was extremely spicy and tasted like it had cleaning chemicals in it, but could have been because it was so spicy, the chemical aftertaste was not good. Wife had the burger which gave her food poisoning, but her fries were good. At least my fish and chips didn t give me food poisoning i guess. Service non-existent, took our server what appeared to be an eternity to do anything (1st world problems I know, but I value my time and it was not respected in my opinion). Bill was over $200 for 3 people, value for money just is not there for me, I would not recommend or return here personally, seemed like a good choice at the time, lesson learned.

Occo Kitchen did it again another amazing experience! If you love a maritime twist, I highly recommend trying the East Coast Donair. Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri, this is the real deal. Its so big youll need two hands to handle it! The donair sauce is out of this world a true must-try for any donair lover. As a side, I had the Fries with Dressing, a Newfoundland favorite. If you havent tried your fries like this before, its a game changer and yet another reason to visit. The staff is always top-notch so friendly and welcoming. Thank you, Occo Kitchen, for consistently delivering such a great dining experience! I cant wait for my next visit.

Try the Blueberry Brie Burger ... its not super sweet or overpowering.

I went last sunday, the seafood chowder was incredible. The side salad my FIL got was stunning. But the fries tasted stale, maybe old. My MIL had the fish and chips and she didn t like it at all. Very greasy and again tasted stale. The restaurant only had three tables but we waited a long time to get anything. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Very modern.

I m going to be really real here and say I truly thought this was a high end kitchen store for knives and etc based on the outside (I guessed I judged a book by its cover). It wasn t until my friend and I Googled restaurants that I realized and I m glad I did as this place is truly amazing! I will definitely be coming again.

I hate to say it but food quality and service quality is slowly going down hill at one of my all time favourite restaurants :( forgot the sauce with the appetizer, my kids burger had hard grizzly fat in the middle of it, which he found very off putting... My Donair wrap was very well toasted border line burnt and the wrong dessert came out. So thats something wrong with every course. At least they got the waters right. Server was nice and friendly but seemed unsure how to react to or handle our problems. Maybe time to go find a new favourite restaurant because things really seem to be sliding here. Only two kids menu for the whole restaurant? Come on guys show up or shut down

Have been here a few times, and on my most recent visit, I really liked the heirloom salad and my two friends and I split the churros, which were delicious! Ended with a latte, that came out cold due to a mechanical error with the espresso machine, but they quickly remedied it and made a fresh, hot beverage. We really enjoyed our visit and I look forward to returning again.

I ve been a fan of OCCO since they had their snack bar on St. Joseph Boulevard. They re still just as amazing, maybe even more amazing.

The food at this place was exceptional and all i had was fish and chips. The serving staff are a little slow I find. That being said, they seemed relaxed. Lots of parking here and lots of booths. Its a nice place to go....for Orleans. It is very inexpensive. The menu options are awesome.

As with all restaurants and food Outlets these days, the prices are significantly higher than they were just a year or two ago. But the food is very good to excellence, particularly the fish it can get a little noisy when the restaurant is fairly full. So it may not be the best restaurant to visit if you want to carry on conversations with your table mates

Amazing burger and east coast Donair!

Food was tasty, service good and atmosphere was OK. Clean and bright restaurant. We were there celebrating the birthday of my mother who just turned 87 years old The cobb salad was really good and a very generous portion. I had so much left over that it made a nice leftover lunch for me today. My partner had the seafood chowder. He asked if it came with any bread or crackers because it was just the bowl of chowder that arrived by itself. While it was delicious, it just needed some bread or crackers as is generally served in most restaurants weve been to. He was offered either a hamburger bun or tortilla chips, neither of which he accepted. We thought it was odd that we were told that was the only bread that they could offer, however when my partner got his lobster linguine It came with a couple of pieces of nice crostini. I think it would have been good to offer 2 of those with the soup or if needed, at an extra cost. We would have been happy to pay for them have they been offered. The main course salmon was very good. My son had the bacon cheeseburger which he enjoyed with sweet potato fries. Service was very friendly. We were not asked when placing our order if we wanted any drinks and all of us actually forgot to order anything. Our fault. By the time we realized and saw the waitress again we were halfway through our meal and didnt want to bother ordering a drink at that point. I think the upsell being offered at the start would have resulted in ordering a couple of cocktails but as it was, we drank mostly water and only 1 ginger ale and i think 1 iced tea. I realized we could have ordered drinks at the time for myself, my partner and my daughter when we realized we hadnt but being halfway through our meals we didnt want to at that point. Overall, the food was delicious and the server was very friendly. I would definitely recommend the delicious cobb salad. Just dont expect any bread or crackers with your soup!

I m sorry, it had to be a 2 star. I waited 20 minutes for someone to come to my table and just offer water. I even got the attention of the hosts at the front with my arms up and she made a comment to the young lady next to her. After I ordered my drink, waiting for my guest. I waited 20 minutes (no sarcasm here) for my drink. I ve been here before for the awesome tacos and salads but the delivery of services has changed, it s slow and perhaps a lead supervisor on the floor following up with orders and customers would be a consideration?

The lobster rolls were great, with lots of lobster. Also had the Newfoundland fries which I loved. Fast buy not hurried service made for a very nice dinner!

Service in downtown is definitely better than Orleans. Last time I was in Orleans OCCO, the server was literally rolling her eyes when I asked a couple of questions since I have a special diet. However, towards the end, she suddenly became too friendly, which is not difficult to guess why. I also feel so uncomfortable being psychologically forced to tip despite not caring about the quality of the service. How about customer satisfaction? Definitely disappointing dine out experience. Plus, I am tired of paying minimum $20 for a main (I had the Cobb Salad) and having to eat more at home to feel full enough. Ill never understand why its so difficult to satisfy a hungry customer. Youre a restaurant. Have a little vision.

Went to the Orleans location on a Tuesday evening, no reservation. One of the best restaurant experiences weve had in Ottawa. The food was great. I recommend you try the cod cakes and the chowder. Pork belly tacos were amazing, as were the shrimp ones. One of a handful of places in Ottawa where shrimps are not overcooked. The candied bacon on the burgers was amazing, and so was the heirloom salad. The only thing Id adjust is the salt levels in the poutine gravy. It was on the salty side. They also serve local bears, including some great Orleans microbreweries. Service was great. Prices are pretty good, especially considering the quality of the food and the generous portions. The interior could use a few touch-ups here and there, but nothing too critical. Definitely will go again.

My first time here with my kids and mother. Service was awful. My son had to ask for crayons to draw because he saw another child at the other table who was drawing away. The waitress came back with one sheet of paper for one of my sons and none for the other. The paper had already drawings on it from another kid. I ordered the kids meal for the boys.... She never asked what my sons wanted for drinks. I had to remind her that a drink is included in their meal. She then brought the chocolate milks cartons with the straws already in it. I told her this is not proper in restaurants. The correct way is to bring the cartons with sealed straw to let the parent open it and unwrap the straw so that the child can have it in the drink. Then the food came and wrong order. Thats.no biggie. It happens. But then none of the utensils were provided or extra plate requested. Ok, I guess not the end of the world. But then my sons fries were cold. My mother got up in disgust and left while my two sons and I ate. I mentioned this the waitress and asked whether she related the message. I thought the manager would come over and apologized for the horrible service toward the end. I should have walked out the first time like my mother Bottom line dont go there. The fries are cold and hard, the service is slow, you have to ask for utensils, they get the order wrong, and the food is not worth it the price. Our of the four meals that I ordered, the salmon was the only thing that tasted good. My sons chicken tenders were hard. We are from MTL and I dont know why this place was recommended to me. Awful and slow.

We called Occo Kitchen and reserved for 32 people, they were extremely helpful, allowed us to come into the restaurant to set up a few things prior to opening for the day, the staff, including our waitress Jenna was lovely, helpful and kind. Thank you for hosting us for our parents 65th wedding anniversary! Highly recommend for family get togethers :)

We hosted my Husbands retirement meal at the down town location just this past Friday. Our server Kyle was amazing and he went above and beyond. Honestly we were so happy with everything and definitely you ll get your monies worth! So happy with everything! Thanks again Kyle.

Ive been going here for years. The food is all amazing, love those Candied Bacon Burgers. They did a great job with the renovation, and the service is great.

We chose OCCO as our engagement party venue this past weekend and we have nothing but fantastic things to say! The service was impeccable and the staff really went above and beyond to make our day the most special Food and special appetizers were mouth watering - so much food for the price & our guests raved about it all night (from the cod cakes, to the grilled cheese, to the burgers and tacos) Caro really went above and beyond in making this such an easy event to plan! All in all if we had to do it all over again, we d always pick OCCO!

It took about 20 minutes for the waitress to arrive to take our drinks order, but the restaurant wasnt busy. Ordered canned beers, the glasses came dirty and asked the waitress for new glasses (she never came back with glasses). Ordered two burgers, both orders came and were incorrect, one of which was the vegan burger - it came with bacon on top.

I went to this place for the first time with a friend yesterday for dinner and I had the best burger I ve ever eaten before. The candied bacon burger was so good, I highly recommend it. The service was great too and there s tons of free parking.

This was my second time at Occo Kitchen and it did not disappoint! We tried their salmon and quinoa bowl and chicken burger, both were absolutely delicious! Tried some drinks from local breweries which also paired well (OBC is just up the street if you find something you like and want more). Atmosphere is inviting yet intimate. Staff were attentive. Definitely recommend.

Nice establishment but unfortunately the food was just ok. Red sangria taste like grape juice and when mentioned to our server she simply said yes the restaurant uses an odd juice mixer. Half of my food was not edible due to being burnt. I will not return.

This place is wonderful! Love this location, service was quick and friendly. My friend and I shared a few drinks and plates and everything exceeded our expectations. You can see the care and creativeity that goes into everything and that will keep me coming back always.

Got there, told there was a 20 minute wait no biggie I don t mind waiting, 3 families walked in and all got sat before me after being told there was a 20 minute wait? Do you not believe in first come first serve that really threw me off. Ridiculous experience for a first time coming

Calamari appetizer is the best I ever had as well as Newfoundland cod cakes appetizer. I recommend going there and try everything as it is all homemade.

Quality and service have decreased over the years. Used to be an Orleans gem but that is no longer the case.

Friday 7pm food was cold and the fried chicken burger was pretty dry didnt eat it service was bit slow everyone at my table finished their meal before server came back asked if it was ok if I 2anted a take home box I said no I didnt like it was very dry seeing it still on my plate only ate half fries and still paid for it so not to happy with My experience

My husband and I had the best Caesar salad ever! They marinate their bacon in brown sugar and slow cook it. Was so amazing. Also, the fish taco and shrimp taco never disappoints.

Food and service was excellent. The only issue I have is when the server ( food runner) bring the main course and the appetizers are not finished. It is like pushing people to eat and get out. It is not appreciated when you spend $250.00 for a dinner. Furthermore, I made a reservation and mentioned that it was my wifes birthday but nobody acknowledged it, so what is the point to write a comment when you make the reservation?? That was disappointing.. You have a very trendy restaurant but little details like that matters. Thanks

I had a mixed experience at Occo Kitchen. The wait time for our food exceeded 40 minutes, and it was frustrating to see tables that ordered after us receiving their food first. Additionally, it took a long time to get drinks and for them to check up on us. However, when our food finally arrived, it was quite good. This uneven service left me with mixed feelings about the restaurant..

The atmosphere is nice, but we waited more than 30min for our food. The fries came soft and the sauce for the fries was too sweet and herb-y. The salad on the side was a bit weird having popping sweet boba that didnt work with the rest of the components. The boba flavor was too artificial and clashed with the rest of the salad. The burger was amazing tho. Thick patty , great flavor, and juicy. Its a shame, because thats probably the only good thing going on when I visited. Tbf they were also very busy

If there was an option to leave a zero star review or worse, that is what would be left behind for this eatery. This is the second year in a row that we have ordered takeout for my wife s birthday(each done so hours in advance) and on both occasions, we have received a message saying the meal would be ready for the scheduled pickup and then within 5 minutes of pulling into the parking lot to pick up the order, we get a message saying the order is cancelled and the kitchen is no longer accepting orders. This is completely unacceptable and this business will never get ours again nor will we recommend anything other than to stay away. Not even so much as an apology nor reason for the last second cancelling which living 40min from the city makes it worse. For a business to say, great food, great service ..I didn t realize it doubled as a comedy. Terrible service and sadly, can t speak to the food now nor ever in the future. Absolutely atrocious.

We are big fans of OCCO Kitchen and are never disappointed. We went for lunch yesterday and had the Halifax donair and the Blueberry Brie burger. The Halifax Donair exceeded expectations with its perfectly seasoned meat and creamy sweet garlic sauce. I had to eat it like a pizza because it was so loaded! The blueberry brie hamburger had a delightful fusion of sweet and savory, with the juicy patty complemented by the richness of melted brie and bursts of the blueberry BBQ sauce. Service was fast and really friendly. We have been many times and will definitely be back.

The experience was disappointing. I had high hopes given the scratch kitchen and reputation. The fries were okay. The Candied Bacon Burger was meh. The service was friendly but slow. Ill choose other restaurants rather than returning but I wouldnt avoid the place if my social circle wanted to meet there.

There are two vegan options now! What a great addition to their menu. They now have a jackfruit sandwich and a buddha bowl. My husband and I both had the sandwich and wed order it again. Our service was excellent. The waitress accommodated our request for a vegetarian kids option as we got the mac n cheese. Well definitely be back.

I used to like this restaurant for take-out. I have found a pattern where they short change me on my take-out order. Resulting in having to call and then drive back to get my missing item. I will no longer order food from this location. I find this frustrating and ruins my evening.

Enjoyed the candied bacon cheeseburger with fries. Had cauliflower wings to start as an appetizer. Both the cauliflower wings and the candied bacon cheeseburger were absolutely outstanding. I would highly recommend both, and would give the candied bacon cheeseburger one of the highest ratings possible for a burger in Ottawa. Its truly special. Service at this restaurant is great and the food matches. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality and unique place to enjoy a meal.

If you want your burger burnt this is the place, even after my wife sent her first burnt/charred burger back, they made her another burnt burger. Limited menu of non- burger items, my tuna dish was nice.

Good restaurant, would rate 3.5 starts if I could. Was a good experience but wasnt blown away by anything . My roommate and her friend eat here I and was expecting good things. The interior and atmosphere were a bit underwhelming with some of the decorations falling down and being held on by duct tape but overall a good atmosphere. You go for the food so I can look past this. Dinner and pop for myself and my wife was $60 which wasnt horrible. The food was tasty and good, but again nothing spectacular. As a couple with dietary restrictions menu items are labelled as vegan but the cauliflower wings (which werent marked as vegan but usually are vegan at every other restaurant) had dairy in the sauce and breading but wasnt clearly indicated in the menu. I shouldve asked but again it goes against the norms for most restaurants in the city because thats usually marked. This then led to needing to confirm the cauliflower tacos were dairy free but they ended up being so. Again i probably could have confirmed but at the same point it could be communicated better. The dairy probably makes the cauliflower taste amazing though, I miss cheese :( And our server was responsive to our needs but there werent many customers in the store and it seemed like she was talking with her coworkers and we didnt feel checked on like we usually are at other restaurants. So atmosphere, service, and food, not bad but nothing spectacular. I dont think I had over the top expectations for the restaurant but just left feeling underwhelmed but not disappointed. I might go back again but its not going to be high up on the list of must return to restaurants. Solid 3.5/5 Also the in house ketchup is watery, please just use normal ketchup or give the option when we order.

My wife, other friends, and I attended this restaurant for dinner tonight. To say that I wasnt impressed would be a bit of an understatement. Our server was a nice young lady but there were a couple of mix ups and reminders needed for drinks and condiments. Service was good but not outstanding or superior. The restaurant was crowded and she had a few more tables to serve other than ours. Drink orders were taken and an extra beverage was delivered to the table. We were puzzled and she then realized the extra beverage left at our table was meant for another table. Large glasses of water would be really nice instead of the very small glasses and cold bottles they provide to each table. As noted, it was quite busy and therefore quite loud and noisy. Carrying on a conversation was difficult. Our meal orders were taken and it took quite a long time for our food to be brought to the table. My burger, although tasty, was cold and the fries were limp, soggy and lukewarm. I was so hungry I dared not complain as I dont know how long it would have taken for a replacement meal to be brought to the table. Everyone else in our party offered the same observations that their food was lukewarm at best. The homemade ketchup was WAY too sweet. Not impressed with it at all. Our bill was almost $80 with no alcoholic beverages and an 18% gratuity. In my humble opinion, I dont feel I got my moneys worth for this dining experience. My wife has eaten at Occo on a few other occasions and she wasnt impressed during any of her previous visits either. The reason we ate here is because one of the other couples raved about Occo and wanted to return. Based on my overall experience and impressions with this restaurant, and my wifes prior negative experiences, I dont think well return. People will say you should go back and give them another chance but I disagree. Again, and this is my opinion only, I think I would have gotten better value for my money if Id just lit four $20 bills on fire and walked away.

Great consistent quality with every visit. Not many places around can boast that. Its a rough world out there for restaurants nowadays and I give them high praise for their consistency.

I have always been a big fan of Occo Kitchen, but this visit has changed my opinion. I ordered nachos ($20). I know its not fancy, but what I got was: a skillet full of corn chips with about an ounce of grated cheese, and a few shreds of chicken, tomatoes and onion on top to mask the lack of cheese. Once I ate the chips with cheese, I was left with a heaping skillet full of bare corn chips. There was no salsa served with it. Not sure if this is normal or not, but I had to ask for it. My partner and daughters food looked fine.

We came in as a part of our friends wedding reception, so a rather large group you could say. The staff served us quickly and kindly. Food was delicious and our server was accommodating to our allergies. I was excited to see their Newfie offerings and just as excited they were so delicious

Food is just OK. Zero ambience. It was like eating in a factory canteen. Put some pictures on the walls. Play a bit of music or something. Anything.

The seafood chowder is divine, the Caesar salad with caramelized bacon is delicious, the portions are good, Im never disappointed when I dine there.

Had lunch with a friend at OCCO Kitchen (Orleans location) yesterday. I had the ahi tuna poke bowl and my friend had the candied bacon cheeseburger. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious! Theres a reason why this restaurant is one of my faves in the Ottawa area!! The service was excellent as well (thanks Rhya for taking good care of us!). *sorry for not posting pics... we just dug in!

Place has gone way downhill. Went this week for dinner for 2, there were over 5 people working the front of the house and many empty tables (not busy) but it took over 10 minutes to even be offered a drink. We immediately ordered just a burger and side each in addition to a glass of beer, nothing complicated. My fries came cold and my partners poutine was also cold, literally even the gravy was cold. My partners burger was also the wrong one, it was a regular cheeseburger even though they ordered a mushroom burger off the menu. Took another 10 minutes to even get a mention in to a server to tell them the burger was wrong, and we decided to just leave. Never coming back, which is a shame because theyre just a few blocks from us. Would never recommend.

Everything was amazing. Polite and cheerful staff. Excellent food. Clean area and plates. I was able to regain my trust a bit after the disgusting experience I had in the last cafe. Occo just was a bit too cold but could have been only me. I also recommend a bit more comfortable seats. But again my family members were comfortable enough. Could have been only me again. I definitely recommend this place.

The service and atmosphere are good, but you really go there for the food. The menu was expertly developed , balancing ingredients , textures and spices in every meal you can select.

OCCO is definitely one of my go to restaurants in orleans. The food is wonderful - I highly recommend the tacos as they are the best in the city ! Most recently I tried their Buddha bowl with chicken (see photo) which was amazing! The pairing of all the ingredients was perfect !

The food and the service were great as usual, but the walls are bare. I know this is temporary following renos, but I could not give it a 5 because of this. The renos are really nice, though! Nice layout with more room. My experience dining there was still great. I was with a friend who was there for her 1st time, and she says she will definitely be back!

Love the renovations and new look. Welcoming and cozy. Food was excellent has always. Had shrimp taco with Caesar salad and a side of sweet potato fries. All was delicious and excellent service

Second experience at this location, and it was a pleasureable one. I did need to muscle through the fact theyre renovating and focus on the food. Best seafood chowder Ive had outside of PEI and New Brunswick! The chef is from Newfoundland. Positive remarks from all present for their plates, including the house potroast. Great food at a good price = highly recommended.

Orleans doesnt deserve Occo Kitchen. With the dining room makeover, its even better. Food

I think I just died of food nirvana. I got the hamre burger and had my eyes closed delighting in its majesty, when I opened them my waitress was there smiling asking how it was . Highly recommend.

Waited over an hour for food. It was delicious though. Server didnt seem concerned about our wait and offered no explanation or apologies

Dinner for 6. We stayed a long time and the service was terrific. A couple of us had NA cocktails which were great! Started with the always delicious cauliflower wings and the new cheeseburger rolls- wow! Yes, please. Between us we had fish and chips, tacos (fish and chicken), the candied bacon cheeseburger and the donair. Everyone had fries, dressing and gravy! Then we had churros for dessert. Everything was delicious. The gravy is a little salty but it didn t stop any of us from eating every bite. We left at 9:56, only because they close at 10. Fantastic experience, as always! I miss the old atmosphere a little but it s a place all 6 of us will always recommend highly!

It was okay. The price was a bit steep for the quality of food: the fries, pogo and chicken strips for my kids was definitely fried with old oil... it was borderline burnt, the dough was mushy around the pogo, and it wasnt very tasty; the fish and chips were okay but again, it seemed that it was cooked with old oil; but the salad was phenomenal! I loved it and probably because it was the only thing we ordered that wasnt fried. The service was good, the host was friendly, and server did seem a bit rushed but still had a friendly attitude. The restaurant was really beautiful though and nicely decorated, seemed clean. I would probably be back but not to order any of the fried food. Kid-friendliness: Wish they had lids for the cups, but we managed!

Good experience, love the food, taste exquisite, great experience, presentation is good and the atmosphere/cleanliness are awesome. Ordered Tacos taste good but the dish that comes with is bit small so tacos falling off all over the table...lol.. but otherwise thumbs up...

Our go to place. Best food and service.

The dining area is clean and spacious with modern decor and the table we were at was stable and level. The mens bathroom is pretty clean but the toilet was quite unpleasant. You have to stand well away from the bowl when flushing the toilet, or youll get a splashback. The food was not above average. Not below average either. I enjoyed the fish and chips, however the fish was rather dry and tasteless but the crisp batter made up for it. The fries... well, to each their own. I doubt they are made in-house. My wife said that her meal was rather bland and I took a little taste and thought so too. I thought it was rather odd how the food was put on her plate. It just looked like it was tossed on the plate from across the room. Our server was professional and did her job well, and the food was served quickly. I thought the menu was very plain and average and was hoping that there would be a bit of a break from the typical, but typical is what they offer. For the money I spent for a family of four, I was a bit disappointed though. This is a normal family restaurant charging significantly more than what you would pay at a typical family restaurant. I dont think I would go back just based on this.

We had our networking group Christmas Party at OCCO Kitchen. Caroline was amazing to communicate with to prepare. We were able to book our 20+ person reservation and pre-order apps with ease. Arriving the staff our spot already for us. We all loved the atmosphere. Very chill, very welcoming. AND well lit, which seems silly to comment on but I find other similar restaurants very dark. The good lighting highlighted our wonderful food. Everyone raved about the appetizers, we ordered several of each and were very happy we did so. There s no wrong choice on their menu, any option is a winner. Our server (I m sorry I wish I had her name!) was lovely and managed our group like a champ. She was very attentive and communicative, which made it so easy for myself organizing. Everyone in our group all left happy and will be sure to return. Fully recommend OCCO for your large group! Very impressed.

Food was so bland we thought had covid. The drink was the only thing with flavour. Plates were dirty as well. There were only 3 tables seated and it still took forever for service.
