Now in Orleans. The Same Authentic Syrian Shawarma For Our Valued Customers in Orleans Area
A Horrible Experience I dined at Royal Rooster on October 16th for the first time. By October 18th, I had developed a fever, nausea, and severe diarrhea, which lasted over two grueling weeks. After consulting my family doctor, I was hospitalized and diagnosed with campylobacter—a bacteria commonly linked to undercooked chicken and a known cause of food poisoning. A couple of weeks later, I received a call from Ottawa Public Health, who advised me on how to look up restaurant safety violations on the City of Ottawa's website. To my dismay, I found that this establishment has a history of food safety violations since opening just a few years ago—some of which could easily explain my illness. As someone who has enjoyed shawarma for most of my life, I am devastated. Shawarma was one of my favorite foods, but now I am repulsed by it entirely, and I hold Royal Rooster responsible for this terrible experience. I strongly advise anyone considering this restaurant to think twice. Food safety should never be taken lightly.
The food is so amazing and the service is a 10 out of 10 definitely recommend one of the best shawarma’s I’ve tasted and thank you for Mahmoud
Top 3 best shawarma I’ve ever had, they dip the pita bread in chicken juices and actually take the time to grill the sandwich properly. The guy that was here on Saturday was super nice, amazing customer service. Will definitely be back!!!
It's not like before at all..! When they started running their business at this address, was everything going well, but after that, they got down from Shawarma taste and quality to their service and cleaning issues from the front door to the end in the bathroom!! Bank Street branch is much better
Finally real authentic original Shawarma. The last time I had actual real Shawarma was in 2009 before that country went into civil war. Wow! I will definitely be returning. Thank you for bringing back all the good memories. The version of Shawarma in Ottawa is garbage and it's nice to see that the original authentic shawarma is here in Ottawa now. Chicken Shawarma - Perfection. Authentic Syrian garlic sauce, chicken, pickles, saj, and then wrapped, dipped in chicken fat and grilled to perfection. Lamb Shawarma - same as above but tahini sauce, parsley, tomato's. Fries - Classic Syrian fries coated in flour and deep fried to a golden brown. Amazing and a must try for anyone that wants to eat real authentic Shawarma. My only complaint is that he was working alone and could not keep up with the orders. I understand cost savings by working alone, but I saw 4 customers walk out as he was trying to make my family platters. I stopped eating Ottawa style shawarma years ago because I could not stand the taste. Keep in mind Shawarma is the McDonald's of the Middle East. I will definitely be returning here again.
I liked the fact that they offered lamb shawarma. The only thing is that half of the lamb that the person cut off the spit ended up on the ground. I got potatoes with spicy garlic. The potatoes were drenched in grease/oil the spicy garlic sauce doesn't really taste like anything. It's super thin as well. The drink that I got was expired. I only noticed it after I took my first sip. It tasted awful and I checked the bottom of the can. It expired 3 months ago. I paid cash, the person never took off their gloves. I kind of paused before giving them the money as their gloves were covered in grease/oil. They proceeded to take the money and then went back to cooking/prepping ingredients. I really hope I don't get food poisoning as I believe the gloves they were wearing hadn't come off all day.
This place is fantastic! Great friendly staff, excellent quality food, generous portions and that baklava is next level. 10/10
I placed two orders of saj lamb sandwich meal. I need to change pickles to roasted potatoes. And I added money to change, but in the end they still didn't exchange it for me. The lamb sandwich should have onions inside, but they used French fries instead because I am delivering food, so can they deceive consumers like this? It's really disappointing. I won't go again next time.
Very delicious Mahmoud did a fantastic job defenetly coming back!!
Please dont add sweet sauce before asking please Otherwise awesome.I got chicken family meal,it was delicious .Fresh, quality and good service.Thanks.Btw please dont add sweet sauce before asking!
The worst shawarma and potatoes I had today for lunch. Much better shawarma places out there. Do not even waste your money here.
The lamb saj sandwich with garlic and their special pomegranate sauce is a must try. Moe convinced me to try it and I go atleast twice a weak now and eat there. One of my new favorite meals. Thanks moe

Dry food. Terrible service.
The food was average not the best, We ordered the family plate, it was full of fries and some shawarma. We expect better. Eman (the lady who served us) she is an amazing person, helped us a lot with the kids, and everything around the table. Thank you Eman! 5 stars to you.

In this location the food is not only great, but the amount they give u is very dissent Thx great food
I dropped by to get a beef shawarma, no beef! Lamb and chicken only, the guy behind the counter gave me a small slice of the lamb, very tender and flavourful! I took the sandwich to go, I am not a big fan of lamb but it had a nice flavour, next time I will try the chicken and post my thoughts. All in all great service and good flavourful food at a reasonable price.
Mahmoud was serving me he was the best
Great service from the palestinien cook. The shawarma s are delicious. I definitely recommend.
Good pizza awesome employees gave us free bread definitely coming back
Best family plate nice service so tasty. Just ask about Mahmoud he is the best one Kid-friendliness: The best shawarma restaurant in orleans they are very friendly and clean
Legit best shawarma in orleans perhaps even in ottawa. Mahmoud is a wonderful chef, and great man as well. I can t recommend this place enough. Food
Not a big fan of shawarma in general but this one is a hit! Thanks to Mahmoud who provides good portion and nice chat. Food
Mahmoud is a great owner who is always happy to serve you and the food is delicious!
Solid food at a solid price point. Only critique is the hummus could be better.
Great food and amazing service God willing Thanks for the hospitality
Thank you guys for the food. It was delicious the service is great Mahmoud and Mohammed thank u Food
We went to rooster shawarma today while we were visiting some family in Ottawa and we were served by Mahmoud. He was amazing and very patient with our huge order. He took the time to make every order right and was very pleasant to deal with. Food
Amazing lamb shawarma, fresh and tasty. Very clean well appointed restaurant, great service.
This is by far my favourite shawarma place in Ottawa. The bread is fresh and homemade, the chicken and lamb perfect. The garlic sauce is awesome. I usually have the Saj meal which is fantastic. I also had the family platters which a platter can easily feed five or more. There s usually a guy there named Mo he s friendly and offers top notch service. The place is clean and they do shawarma the right way. Now that I haves royal rooster I don t think I can go back to the typical Ottawa shawarmas spots. Also they make the best coleslaw
Just moved in the area. Went there to get dinner for my family. The place is very clean, great staff very welcoming, and the food was so good, my family and I enjoyed it. I recommend this place 100%.
Greasy, very greasy. Even my change was greasy. Never again
I would like to share a positive experience I had at Royal Rooster Shawarma. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by incredibly friendly staff. Their attentive service truly made my meal even more enjoyable. As for the food, the shawarma was simply delicious, with authentic flavors that really tantalized my taste buds. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a positive culinary experience and quality service.
Amazing service from Hamza got my 2 combos good food loaded with meat and fries so glad this place opened in orleans.
Excellent service, the best Shawarma here in the city, on the top of that, Ask for Mahmoud, he is the best
Such a good way of eating shawarma without rice AS IT SHOULD
There is a very high chance of food poisoning from this place. Cross-contamination between raw meats and prepared food stuffs. Just a while ago, I saw with my own eyes a staff bring out a fresh chicken vertical spit (that giant conical meat slab with hundreds of chicken breasts and thighs), put it in its stand, adjust things on the rotisserie machine, and then proceed to prepare shawarma sandwiches as well as handle raw salad with the SAME gloves. I dont care how much butter or garlic is on that raw chicken, but salmonella is salmonella. Cross-contamination 101 is that you DO NOT TOUCH what touched raw meat to other foods. I dont think I will be returning. If I get sick off of this sandwich I will know 100% why.
Delicious shawarma, delicious grape leaves. Thanks a lot for the fantastic service
Ismail and wafa were so nice
Mix platter: Very dry lamb and chicken. Unpleasant taste in the potatoes (garlic was off). Bland fattoush with rusted lettuce and limp chips. Will not return or recommend.
Food is good and workers are really nice
Ismail was so good and nice best experience i ever had
This restaurant seels the best food i have ever had the services the place threr is really good Ismail Food
Very nice clean. Very good food
Not sure what changed other than the name of this place but the last time we got shwarma sandwiches there they didnt taste good and the price went up. 3 snap sandwiches plus a roasted potatoes came up to over$40.
Best shawarma I ve ever had!!!
This restaurant has zero understanding of customer service.
I got a plate of chicken shawarma. The chicken was old and dry and also cold, and the rice and potatoes were also cold. The food seemed old. I asked the worker to put hot garlic sauce on the side for me, but I did not find it in the food.
I went today and had chicken saj sandwich and mix saj sandwich the chicken and the meat were so fresh i even was there when they put the chicken shawrma on fire and start to cook it everything super clean coverd with plastic they uncovered everything while Im there watching and the taste omg super yummy super recommended
The best Shawarma at Ottawa, testy chicken and testy meat
Delicious food ,the best shawarma in ottawa.
I recently dined at Royal Rooster shawarma and was blown away by the quality of the food and the exceptional service. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and helped us choose the perfect dishes to suit our tastes. The food itself was outstanding - fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I particularly enjoyed the [dish name], which was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Overall, it was a truly memorable dining experience and I cant wait to come back!
I bought 2 shawrma chicken tonight and I was given 15% discount because of opening ceremony, but unfortunately the amount of chicken in the sandwich is less than 50% less than the other places He think him self smart giving 15%discount and put 50 percent chicken It was the first and last time to buy from him and I don t recommend anyone to buy from him
The best shawarma in Ottawa
Good shawarma
Wooow woooow
So tasty shawarma. It s gorgeous, i like it.
It s my favourite food. Middle East food 100%. I really love it
Very good shawarma, I recommend it
They deserve success and I wish them progress and prosperity
The best shawarma
Staff is very rude and not welcoming, the bathroom is dirty and overflowing with garbage and all the tables are dirty so I had to eat in my car.Had 2 chicken shawarmas and both had 50% less chicken then other places and 2 pickles for a large shawarma. This is grand opening week and to have such horrible service and food very disappointing.Never going back and never recommending to anyone when Y alla Yalla is down the road for 200% better food and service.
Very tasty and meat portion in the sandwhich was amazing. Lamb and saj bread is also something that not everyone offers and it was delicious.
The best shawarma in Ottawa
The best shawarma in Ottawa
is the best for me
Not sure how the ratings are so high. There is no comparison to Shawarma Palace. The chicken was dry and overall the plates were bland. Stay away. I was so excited to try this place and in the end it didn t live up to the hype and was very disappointing to say the least. Service is also terrible. I went to the Orleans location.
Awesome staff Unique setting Great falafel sandwich platter! Vegetarian options: Falafel Platter and sandwich
Ordered chicken and lamb shawarmas. Delicious! Honestly I was surprised. The Saj bread was awesome, the lamb was moist and very well spiced. The chicken was fresh and very tasty. Will definitely be back.
The best and best shawarma. I wish them continued success and success
The best shawarma in the city
I would give it 20/10 very very good shawarma place
Great place and delicious shawarma can t wait to be back.
Clean interior, friendly staff and amazing food. Very happy to see Syrian restaurants thriving in Orleans.
If you re looking for your usual shawarma restaurant, this isn t the place. For starters, pita isn t used here, they use a paper thin dough ( not shaped like bread ), so thin that you can t pick up the sandwich with your hands, you must use fork and knife. Only garlic, turnips and pickles are added to the sandwich and only French cut fries are offered. Garlic sauce tastes like mayo with lemon juice and hummus tastes like it came from a can ! Orleans location
Wonderful experience! Everything is very fresh and super flavourful. There were complementary sweets. The ambience is very beautiful, even with a water fountain. We found everything was very clean. The stuff was really friendly and helpful. Very pleasant place to get shawarma, humus, felafel and more
chicken and meat were ultra fresh, W customer service
Im torn. The good: The best tasting rice and hummus you can find at a shawarma place. The bad: They top the hummus with lots of canola oil instead of using olive oil. Id rather have no oil if it adds nothing to the taste and maybe fill the container with hummus instead. This screams cheap to me and makes no sense. And no pita is given with a hummus plate, how exactly am I expected to eat it with no pita? Another very odd and extremely cheap thing to do especially given how inexpensive pita bread is. The ugly: I dont know how prices are calculated but I was shocked with the total given the amount of food. I could get probably double the food for about the same price from other places (with olive oil and pita bread too).
First of all, the people complaining about the bread they use is authentic shawarma bread they use back in the middle east. Second, also back in the middle east they only put garlic sauce and pickles.. thats it. This literally taste like back home. If youre used to shawarma palace which isnt close to authentic shawarma then youre definitely missing out
Loved the saj shawarma super tasty I also bought a kiwi basil drink that was really refreshing great food and fast service!
Disappointed with this place. Not well prepared for summer weekend dinner service. Serving old food. Too bad.
I was the only one in the restaurant and the staff didn t even acknowledge me when I walked in. It looked like they were in the middle of cleaning the counter and they said they would be with me in a minute. I waited 5 minutes and left.
Mothers very nice
I got a regular shawarma combo. The cost was okay but the garlic sauce and potatoes were not that good. The sandwich was below average compared to other shawarma restaurants in Orléans. My stomach was upset for the rest of the night after eating here.
I honestly expected better shawarma. I tried the mixed plate and the lamb shawarma and chicken shawarma on another visit. I was disappointed that each time, the lamb squewer had barely any meat left on it and ended up dry. The chicken was okay, a little dry also. The place is very clean and nice and the atmosphere is great.
Nothing is good about this restaurant, the rice is hard like it was left outside to sit all day and barely edible. Chicken was super cold, dry and hard. Not fresh at all. They dont carry spoons when they are serving rice which is just sad for any restaurant. Bad service and food overall. 0/10. Not recommend to go here.
The falafel sandwich was tasty and fresh. Highly recommend
The best place and the best food, God willing, may God give you wellness, Chef Mahmoud and Chef Ali
Ali and Mahmoud, very good food, 100 out of 100
Thank you so much, Mahmoud and Ali. Its very nice people, its working showerma
The shawarma tastes good. However, there is not enough meat in the sandwich.
Thanks Amar for delicious shawarmas. And excellent service, Definitely recommend this place.
Sooooo good! Perfect amount of everything. I hate shawarmas that are so jam packed so this place was perfect for me. Just the right amount for the perfect bite each time. And the flavor was on point. I love the consistency of the Hummus and garlic sauce as I find a lot of places very thick and pasty. Theirs was light. Definitely going back! Welcome to Fallingbrook!
Worset place u could go i bought a family meal it was dry and bad. The pikels had mold on them and the garlic had a relly bad taste. It not my frist time it my second time there and both times where horrible. I would not recommend going there. Olso the lamb is dry chiken is enevn more dry. It u want to waste loney go there.
The lamb was excellent and my wife had the chicken extremely tender very very pleased highly recommended
I love this place This is my 10+ visit to Orleans location after i used to go to huntclub location Today chicken a bit salty to be honest
Place has good food usually but weird timings. Says the place closes at 10 PM but when I went at 9 PM, it was already closed. Staff just chooses to close whenever they see fit it seems. Not a good and professional sign for a business !
The chicken tenders were tasty and worth the price, tasty french fries..there was no rush at the time we arrived in the afternoon.
Great little dine-in spot. The decor is so beautiful and the little lamps are the perfect touch! Food was fresh and delish. Good size portions! Restaurant was clean and staff was friendly. We will definitely be back
Food wasn t fresh and lamb shawarma was over cooked or might be stored frozen for long time! So pricy - in terms of prices -
Great place for family
I tried it first time Very bad experience Chicken very dry and cold Rice like freezer cold Potatoes little warm Feel like everything was there from hours. Don t trust guys all the five star rating they got is from there known. Don t ever again waste of 24 dollars
We ate at this restaurant - Orleans Branch (Dine In) on Saturday 26 August 2023. Shawarma Chicken Family platter (I still have the receipt). We were a family of 5 persons (Myself , wife and 3 Kids (16Y , 14Y, 10Y) After eating at the restaurant, we drove home and we started getting pain in stomach. One by one we were vomiting and having strong Diarrhea. I am very sure the cause is this restaurants food as we did not eat anything anywhere before or after We had to suffer for the past 2 days because of the bad food management of this place. I called the restaurants Manager on the same day while at home and they did not care much.
I made an order they accept it , 15 min later they cancel it .
Excellent food, Definitely recommend this restaurant
There is nothing better than this....
Was an amazing experience especially with emad everything was perfect
Imad, thank you from my heart for your sweet service. May God protect you
Very good service from teacher Imad
The best shawarma at all I never eat something good like this
Imad is the best ! Best shawarma ever
No napkin, unfriendly service, and tastes like every other boring shawarma in this city. Nothing special or great, but not terrible.
Very bad customer service and disgusting lamb and chicken
If you re looking for the standard Lebanese shawarma, like that of Shawarma palace or Prince, then this isn t the spot for you. It s an entirely different sandwich as they use a Syrian style bread (much thinner) and the spices on the rice / potatoes are completely different. We got a chicken platter and chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it. The chicken was tender however the potatoes were a bit old. The staff were very friendly, in fact he gave me a free cup of their yogurt drink to try as I had never had it! Cool insta vibe atmosphere.
Chicken, turnips, pickles, everything on point including good prices. Service was slow but it seemed like employees we re still in training, so we ll see next time. Given the long wait, it created some kind of awkward vibe and it was kind of the weirdest shawarma experience lol Hopefully as employees finish their training we see some better customer service
Most authentic shawarma in Ottawa. Worth the wait and worth every penny Vegetarian options: Falafel vegetarian option exists Parking: Always available Kid-friendliness: Very kind with kids Wheelchair accessibility: Well accessible
Great food great staff and amazing price
We (my teen son and I) were picking up some food for takeout as we heard that this was the place for authentic shawarma. We have tried many different varieties of shawarma (lebanese, syrian, turkish, afghani, persian) so we were excited. We each had the Saj platter - he had the chicken and I had the lamb. We also ordered the French chicken sandwich for my husband. Now we were familiar with Saj bread (as we used to get it fresh from Shamis bakery in Convent glen, but they later started ordering it from Montreal). I asked the owner if they made it fresh, but he seemed evasive so I had my doubts. They loaded up all sandwiches with the garlic sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickles. The platters came with more pickles, a small container of garlic sauce, coated fries and creamy coleslaw (a mixture of creamy mayo, carrot and green cabbage). I wasnt a total fan of the coleslaw as I prefer the vinaigrette-based varieties, but it was ok, my teen son loved it). The Saj sandwiches were then sliced into 2 inch wide pieces, while it made for a nice presentation, made it very awkward to eat. They would be further ahead if they just sliced it in half. The meat was tender and mildly seasoned. The coated fries were ok, nothing special. My husbands toasted sandwich was basically a shawarma on a french baguette. He was a little shocked at the price for the amount of food - he expected more, although he said it was tasty. He has had larger sandwiches (from Shawarma palace, and Garlic king) for about the same price. The pickles tasted ok, but they were not to my liking. My teen son loved them. I also ordered a slice of pistachio baklava, which was very dry and not as flaky or flavourful as other ones I have tried (the best is at Greek plus in Convent Glen). I would like to try the chicken plate to taste their rice and potatoes. Overall, I would give this place another try, but the kid who initially served us was unusually quiet (I am not sure if his English was particularly strong or if he was still very new to the job), making it hard sometimes to make sure that our order was taken clearly and properly. Make sure you speak up and be patient, we were waiting for our order for about 20 minutes :-)
