Most amazing food I have ever had. Thank you for cooking for us. Avery and Cohen Hinton - 9 and 12 yrs.
WORST "Vietnamese" food I've ever had. My wife and I ordered for takeout and was told the wait would be an hour. I ordered the "Bun Bo Hue" in which the girl taking our order refered to as the oriental soup. I should've hung up then and there but we wanted to give them a shot. If you see the pictures, I received a toddler size serving of noodles and meat. Furthermore, this is the wrong type of noodles and meat for bun Bo hue. The soup was also incorrect; just a generic lemongrass tasting broth. My wife ordered the beef vermicelli and received the same toddler serving of noodles and few slivers of dry meat. 3/4 of the meal was beansprouts and cabbage; awesome if you are vegan I suppose. I hate bashing restaurants but this was an EXTREMELY sad, disappointing and overpriced meal. I almost feel offended we received what we did. I honestly don't even think the owner is Vietnamese based on what they serve.
I moved to another province two years ago and I still dream and crave their delicious General Tao chicken. I think about their General Tao at least twice a week ...The service is impeccable and the food is just incredible. I am planning a trip back just so I can stop by and enjoy some of my precious General Tao again.
Was craving some fresh authentic Vietnamese food tonight! Our dinner was not only fresh, but so flavourful and super delicious. Huge shoutout to Pho Truc Lien in Orleans, ON for satisfying my craving and making our meal unforgettable. I will absolutely be back!! Chicken Pad Thai, shrimp salad rolls (rice wrap rolls) with amazing peanut sauce and the vermicelli dish all 5 STARS. Highly recommend if in the area, truly an awesome Vietnamese take out experience!
Always a great experience eating here at Pho Truc Lien, everything taste fresh and the food is very filling, I always get the beef soupe P08, with meat balls, slice of pork, rare beef and slices of beef well done. The broth is so good and it helps me when I'm congested. There's a great selections of authentic Vietnamese dishes and some specialty Thai dishes as well. Go try them out!!!!
I have eaten at well over 100 Vietnamese restaurants in my life. If I have learned one thing, it's that you very rarely go wrong with the mom and pop organizations. Such was the case at Pho Truc Lien. While the restaurant is found in a fairly old building, don't be deceived by the somewhat rough exterior. Inside, it is clean, tastefully decorated, and super-chill. It seemed that the staff were all family, and were all very friendly, prompt, and professional. The food was fresh and delicious . You could tell that it was prepared with the attention to detail that you would not necessarily find in one of the Vietnamese chain restaurants. I will definitely be going back and recommending it to others.
This is a nice, quiet restaurant - good for families. It wasn't busy at all when we went on a Thursday night. The service is quite good. I don't think the food was that outstanding, despite all the good reviews. I would suggest ordering pho here instead of the other dishes.
Family owned Vietnamese restaurant. Friendly service with a smile. The food were served efficiently with reasonable time. The prices were fair or reasonable for the quality of their food. The pho tastes wonderful and good portion. Located within a short drive from the hotel I'm staying. There's parking available for their customers. Popular to locals. Is a must to visit when staying nearby. Good food experience.
Food was just okay. Ordered B08. Portion was smaller than other places we have gone for the same price.
Must be good for ottawa guay lo. Def lacking.
Ordered pickup and large sizes arent really that large. 8 dollars for 4 spring rolls is a bit steep on pricing.
They have great pho, great value for pricing too. Have placed multiple orders, always impressed! Vegetarian options: lots of options!
The pho was a bit bland for my taste and tasted more like a chicken broth. Good amount of meat in the soup. I was missing the basil which seems to be substituted with mint in this restaurant. Quiet different and not too my liking.
Worst pad Thai I ve ever had noodle were so overcooked it was like mush we had to put our order ourself on a pad and never offered anything to drink shrimp rolls were ok.. overall poor.. for a Friday evening the fact there was only 5-6 people dining should of been a red flag..
Welcoming staff and the most delicious food! Very accomodating with options for all; vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free.
Skimpy portions and overpriced. No hoisin or hot sauce too. I guess one has to select extra sauce (and pay extra) to get any at all.
Fantastic, fresh, and excellent customer service.
Best one in Orleans
Wow, their pad thai, salad rolls and spring rolls are better than Thai Chili restaurant in Orleans. Much more tastier and less expensive. Their Shrimp Red Curry is out of this world. Our family will continue to go at Pho Truck Lien on St Joseph. Best place. Wonderful fresh food always very good service. Make you feel welcome and always polite. Family owned business and have been going there for years.
Worst pho I ve ever gotten in Ottawa. Ordered from Uber Eats their largest size and received a hockey puck size of cold noodles and three pieces of beef that was not rare and very thin. Would never recommend ordering pho from here.
very nice foods
Ive had pho in most cities in canada and in numerous places across the globe. Honestly this is the best bowl of pho Ive ever had. Absolutely delicious, I am blown away every time. Worth making the trip from downtown Ottawa.
Great sweet & sour soup! Panang Curry was good too! Vegetarian options: Lots of veggies options
This is the worst takeout I ever had! The portion is so small for the price and the taste is just bad. Don t waste your money and time!
Worst pho ever! The good reviews here must be from family and friends because this is cannot even be considered food. Small portions and high prices for something that looks and probably taste like the mud from the Ottawa River.
Delicious Pho in Orleans! Used to have to go to Somerset for good pho but I found this spot here after multiple recommendations. Got a beef pho egg rolls and a special soup. All were delicious! The decor of the dining area was nothing special. Your usual Asian style restaurant, but the food was AMAZING! Parking: Small parking lot about 10-15 spots.
Pho Truc Lien is by far the best Vietnamese food Ive ever had. You just cannot beat the freshness of their ingredients and the care of their preparation. The owners also go above and beyond, with amazing communication. We got takeout for a big group and everything was amazingly packaged, stayed hot, and fed us all very well. I had leftovers for days afterwards and it tasted amazingly fresh and delicious every time! Im obsessed!
Cheapened Thai food for regular food prices. Eg plum sauce served with the shrimp instead of red chile sauce. Very little meat with the bun dish and too many sprouts, watered down fish sauce. Pho did not sit well with me. I wouldn t recommend this place.
They have some delicious pho, curry and spring rolls. Ive been here many times over the last 5 years.
Food is always delicious. Even their non Vietnamese dishes like Pad Thai and General Tao Chicken (especially if you like it spicy) are the best in Ottawa. They are one of our favourite restaurants.
This is our favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Canada. We ve never had a bad meal here and love that it s cozy and not noisy like most places. It s a family owned business and the owners are very hospitable. I recommend the all day lunch special with beef and vermicelli .while you re at it be sure to order some extra spring rolls they re delicious!!!
This is my absolute favourite pho restaurant! The family that owns it is absolutely some of the nicest and caring people I have even met. Not to mention that the food here is so good! Highly recommend giving this restaurant a try:)
The best pho in Orleans and the kindest business owners I ve ever encountered. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, whether you re picking up your order or dining in (pre-pandemic - they unfortunately aren t offering dine-in service ATM). One of our favourite places in Ottawa.
Good soup (Y)
I was very disappointed with the portions. I ordered pad thai, spring rolls, and Rangoon (crab with cream cheese wonton) The pad Thai came in medium container half filled, with a little noodles- consisted of mostly mushy sprouts and maybe 2 flat pieces of chicken. The wontons were a joke. Very small, barely any stuffing and absolutely no crab. My spouse and I finished and were still hungry after spending 74 dollars on skip the dishes. This will be the last time we order from here.
Great location with quality food and very good prices, the owner and his wife are super friendly and they serve the best Vietnamese food in Ottawa
Extremely disappointed with this restaurant. We ordered takeout and explained the amount of people in the household. For $100 worth of food the portion size was incredibly small. When calling they said post a review about how I feel therefore here I am posting a review. The taste of everything was horrible as well, I hope everyone will read this before considering ordering from this establishment.
Nice owner and good food
Super good Vietnamese restaurant. The best Pho to get in Orleans! Im a bit disappointment they still doing takeouts. Still no dine in service.
Most amazing Vietnamese in Orleans. Offer the best prices for spring rolls you get 4 here where the others give 2 for higher cost. So better pricing and better taste! The staff are always so pleasant also.
A great little hidden gem, family operated who are the friendliest people you d ever meet. The service is always amazing and the food is outstanding.
The food is solid but the takeout portions are extremely small for what you pay, especially compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in Orleans (most of which are even cheaper to boot). Also wasnt a huge fan of how the salad included with the meal was 90% bean sprouts.
Good service. Awesome soups!
Flavors of broth and summer roll were great, but I do have a couple complaints. The broth was hotter than sin, but nothing could be hot enough to separate my poor noodles. The noodles in both the small and medium pho were cemented together which made eating it much more of an ordeal. Also, the peanut sauce was extremely watery. Not such a huge deal if you pour directly into your roll, but a little disappointing. Not the worst pho Ive ever had by far, but not my fave.
We have moved out of ottawa and truly miss coming to our favorite restaurant. We have yet found a restaurant that compares Not only is the food amazing but the service is friendly. Please come and try this family run business
Awesome Vietnamese food! It s one of my favourite cuisines so I ve tried many places but this one always ends up on top as the best in my opinion.
Weve been coming here for years! Best Vietnamese food in the city, by far! Also the friendliest owners! Always a great experience!
Delicious food and lovely staff!
I dont remember how long Ive been going to this place but I keep coming back for their quality oriental food. Although their focus is Vietnamese food, their General Tao is the best of Orleans.
TLDR: If you want to be served a medium pho after paying for and expecting a standard extra large pho like the ones that are served at other vietnamese restaurants in Ottawa, come to Pho Truc Lien. My first and last time here. Just ordered an extra large soup for take out and was given about a liter of broth with little meat mixed in, along with a small container of clumpy and crumbling noodles. I ask one of the employees if they made a mistake and if they gave me a small or medium soup instead and he answers no, then points at the top of the styrofoam container and says: when its extra large we fill it to the top, when its large we fill it here (pointing 1 centimeter lower) when its medium we fill it here and so on. Go to other vietnamese restaurants in Ottawa and the difference between extra large and small is a full container of broth, not a couple centimeters of liquid. Same with the meat or the noodles, other places give you extra containers when you order extra meat or noodles. And whats up with the fried wontons? Theres barely any filling in them, check out the attached picture.. Paid 50$ for a soup, two orders of spring rolls and some fried wontons (calling these things wontons is a stretch)
Good service, friendly staff and the food was really good.
Service was good, food was average at best. Bbq pork was dry and the dish did not have much flavour. Pho was bland and noodles were stuck together. Meat was also overcooked. Despite getting the beef brisket, the meat was still extremely tough.
I really feel as though this place does NOT get the recognition it deserves. Ive been coming here for a long time now, and their service and food has never changed. The atmosphere and decor are very traditional Vietnamese style yet it fits well with the ambiance and setting. The food is well priced considering that these dishes require many fresh ingredients, time and skill. Food is always prepped quickly yet not rushed, as it always comes out tasting excellent. The owners and staff are always extremely friendly and polite which makes for an even better dining experience. Definitely a 5/5 for me, and a place I recommend to all my friends looking for a quick Vietnamese fix in Orleans.
Service was good, but the food peas very lack luster. The pho had no flavour and mixed noodles. Would not return.
It is a bit pricier than other Vietnamese places but if you eat in, it has a clean, cozy, and quiet vibe to it.
Friendly staff. Decent bun.
The food is delicious and healthy. The menu has variety. The staff and owners are very pleasant and friendly. It is not cheap, but worth it every time.
Always tasty food with friendly service.
Good cheap
Dont order from these people through skipthedishes unless you want extremely small portions sizes. Horrible customer service from the manager.
My favorite comfort food!...the owner is the best, the food is great and the service is very nice.
Awesome food family business miss them during isolation
I had a pho special. I thought the broth was good but everything else was just ok. Not enough meat, and herbs for a $15 bowl.
I have be going here for years and yet to have a bad dish. They also have some of the best Pad Thai & General Tao in the east end.
Excellent customer service
The food has been consistently amazing ever since they opened. Our family has always loved the many dishes over the years.
Great food at great prices.
Amazing and very friendly service. Food is always great.
Okay food, great service!
Its our go to place in Orleans for Pho. Lunch specials are a great value. Staff are friendly, were on a first name basis as we are regulars. Very clean, and attentive if you raise concerns about allergies.
Best Pad Thai youll ever have!
Food is good, but the prices are high and the portions are small. Weight out options accordingly, is all I am suggesting. Example, I ordered chicken fresh rolls; they were thinly sliced breasts with no seasoning and the order came with 2 rolls for approx. $7. Bowl of pho will run you about $12, but it tastes good. You decide, I personally go because its closer to home.
Anne and her husband make you feel so welcome. This charming restaurant offers Vietnamese delights in the heart of Orleans. Im rather fond of their pho but that green curry is simply yummy. Summer time, I highly recommend a rice wrap platter.
Amazing food, service and price!
Great food and welcoming staff!
So good!
Super generous and friendly. The pho is great too and my wife raved about their pad thai
Absolutely love this place!! Vietnamese food at its best
I loved this place. Great service, the Pho was superb with real deep bone broth flavor, lots of brisket and tender beef, noodles. All sides were excellent.
We have been eating here for years! Love the food and the folks. In our travels we have tried many restaurants and always use this restaurant as our compass. You guys rock!
Flavours are amazing but portions are too small (especially on takeout) for the price. Way overpriced.
Friendly service, lots of menu options. Could be a bit more generous on the protein portions.
Cant go wrong with pho yo...
Amazing staff and wonderful food. Every time we visit Ottawa, we have to stop in and eat here.
Best pho in all of Ottawa, including any decent place in Chinatown. Anne and her family are amazingly friendly and the service is great. Have been going there for over 10 years and will continue no doubt.
Server was friendly and courteous. The make your own salad roll is a must try.
Great service and amazing food. Owners are such friendly people and we are looking forward to going back.
One of the best vietnamese restaurant
My family and I love going to eat at Pho Truc Lien. The restaurant is always clean and the food is amazing. The owners are the sweetest and always have a smile on their face. Best Pho restaurant in ottawa hands down.
Amazing food, great selection and not expensive.
Great food presentation and the flavors were definitely there. The owner was very friendly and explained all the dishes to us. Perfect place to go if you like sharing plates with others on your table. Only thing separating it from 5 stars is the quality of the food used. Otherwise a great experience and a definite recommendation!
Never had a bad meal here and the service is great. One of the few places Ive seen that has a non-beef based broth option, which was great for a visiting friend.
A very nice establishment. The portion was good. The broth was nice. I always go with rare beef. It was good stuff. I ordered the rice paper rolls as well. They were very fresh and tasty. Nice little spot in Orleans. I will return for sure in those cold winter months.
We have been going to pho truc lien for years. The family and food is fantastic. Highly recommend everything on the menu. Best Pho in the east end.
This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. Nice, quiet place with friendly service and great pho!
Food is terrific, service is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Whats not to love? Best value Vietnamese in Ottawa by far...
My wife speaks very highly of this restaurant, food quality & personal service excel.
Excellent food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff
The pho is good but the chill oil is incredible
The red curry is to die for.
Over priced .. owner needs to develop a better service personally
Delicious, fresh food, prepared and served by the Mom & Pop who own it. Great place for a quiet lunch or dinner date!
Very good quality, service was quick and the food was extremely well prepared. The price is a little high in comparison to other Pho shops.
Our favourite restaurant. The food is terrific and the owners are so kind. Weve been coming for almost 10 years.
Very quaint and quiet place. Lovely and friendly owners and the food has delicious subtle flavours.
Our familys favorite pho restaurant in the region. Good, fresh and fair prices.
LOVE this place. One the best pho in Ottawa. A bit pricey but the quality of the food is amazing and the staff is nice.
Best pho in Orleans! Also has numerous other choices
Delicious curry soup, very nice meal
Great family owned restaurant serving Vietnamese food, they have everything you would expect from a Vietnamese restaurant, the Pho is not salty and is much better than anywhere else in East Ottawa, the vermicelli bowls are generous and well priced, the service is A1 and they are kid friendly, if you kid eats Pho they will bring an extra bowl and everything you need to share your plate and make it kid s friendly
My favourite Vietnamese in Orleans. Very authentic. Owners are super friendly!
Great food and friendly staff
Fairly plain and indifferent food. Vietnamese spring rolls were great, but the sauce didnt have any flavor. The pho broth was very muted, and I couldnt taste any of the traditional flavors. There wasnt very much meat on the pho as well. Order a mango juice for $3.75 and then was disappointed to see powered juice crystals behind the counter. Terrible!
Dropped by for a lunch Pho with two types of spring roll appetizer. Good quality, friendly, quick service. Bright and clean. No wheelchair lift or ramp.
Top notch! Been going there for many years. Food is delicious, service prompt and impecable.
Their Pho soup is unbeatable!...fast courteous service, clean environment..worth every penny...moi, orleans
Always a good meal and good service.
Amazing food
This place has been around for quite a while but I only started going a couple of years ago. Just ate there for the 3rd time and I keep finding different and delicious authentic Vietnamese food choices each time. Quick and friendly service. Will be back.
Best in Orleans, by a long shot. The owners are also so friendly and always make sure to ask how my family is doing when I come in to pick an order up. Love this staple of the community, both for eat-in and take-out.
Food always fresh and delicious
Always amazing food and wonderful service. Free pot of tea with every meal, and exceptionally fast service.
Great food and friendly service
Very good price reasonable
Love Pho Truc Lien! My favourite pho in Orleans. The owners are so friendly
Excellent food, excellent service! Amazing experience!
Awesome food!!
Excellent food. Great service. Washrooms need attention Im afraid.
Food was excellent. Quick service. Will be coming back for sure
Been going there for years and still love it. They treat me like family there.
Great food, great people. Always a pleasure to come here. Update: 8 months later... still go regularly, food is consistently very good! Best Won Ton!
Best Pho
Great food, low prices and excellent service.
In general food is good, I find the spring rolls do not have enough filling... More filo than filling
Food always good
Food very good and the staff and owner is very friendly. He comes to talk to us every time we go. Would recommend to anyone.
Love this place, great soup and the spring rolls are soooo good !
A great family oriented, quiet, pleasant place. Great service and fantastic food. 5 stars in my books!
I ordered their panang curry for $16 and was rather disappointed in the taste, consistency, and portion size. The curry was very fluid and didnt stick to the meat or veg, the meat was cut super thin fondue style and was approximately 1/4 of a standard chicken breast and the taste was so so. I suppose Im used to Siam bistro and silver spoon where I quite enjoy their curry. My boyfriend ordered the pho it was decent but nothing special. Ive heard such great things about this place so Im rather shocked that I was so disappointed. Im tempted to try it again to understand what all The hype is about but fear Ill be disappointed again. :(
Always great service and great food!
I eat here quite often and have never been disappointed! The food is always good and serving is amazing!
Run by a Vietnamese person and friendly, 5 stars The soup is clear and refreshing. A taste you want to keep eating There is a lot of quantity. Every time I eat, I feel full even though I eat S. Pad Thai. The spring rolls are delicious and the sauce on top is delicious!
Good soup but service was very slow. 45-60 minute wait
Good food. Decent service
This place is one of my favorite, food is so good, nice little cozy place!!
This is one of my all time favourite Vietnamese places in the world. Run by such a nice family and food is always so amazing. Cant wait to go back. I always make a point to stop by here when Im in Ottawa. Go to is always the Bun and the rice wraps. Gotta love the rice wraps and that peanut sauce.
Great food, great employees/family
Delish
Amazing food and amazing service. Have been going since Day 1. We live in Kanata nw but whenever we can we drive to Orleans for the excellent Pho! Miss you Anna ! Meena and Kian
Excellent service. Love that Pho.
amazing
Great service and food. I have to recommend any iced tea fan to try their homemade brew, very refreshing!
Best service around. Awesome food
Our favorite place to go. Amazing fresh food. We drive 40 minutes to eat there.
Love the lady who runs this place with her husband. She is very friendly and always has a smile on her face. She works really hard. The food is always great. Never had a bad meal there.
Best Ti food in town.
Food is always good and hot. Owners are very friendly.
Great food and service always excellet. Love this place, best pho in the city. Will always be a loyal customer.
Always a delight to eat here, friendly and good food.
Been here a few times when I visit home. Friendly family run business with some good food. Will venture again while in the area.
Always a pleasant dining experience; a lovely family owned restaurant where the food is delicious.
Pretty good Pho but fairly standard. The fried egg noodles though is amazing. Good price, great service too. Would recommend.
The Pho is good and she remembers us every time. We eat in and take out regularly. I always order M5.
Good food. Had my usual vermicelli/pork/spring rolls. The yellow tinge to the pork threw me off - turns out its ginger, nice touch! Admittedly sketchy looking outside - but inside is clean and vietnamese greeter is beyond nice :) Will go back.
