This place is a joke, save your time and go somewhere else. I went to this place and ordered a Philly Cheesesteak. The place had me waiting 1+ hour to get my food, everytime I asked it was Its just getting ready. Even after the hour we didnt even get our food. Save your time.

Our go to spot when I get a breakfast craving that I dont have to cook. Food is great and our waitress is always friendly and attentive to our table for anything we need.

I had an omelette that was not cooked through, and the home fries were bland. My daughter seemed to like her food, however. I was disappointed as previous meals here were good.

I WOULD HUGHLY AVOID THIS PLACE. YOU BETTER STAY AT HOME EATHER THAN COME HERE TO EAT IN A GARBAGE PLCE LIKE THIS . MY FRIENDS AND I WENT TO THIS PLACE, I spilled coffee over the table a little bit and went to grab a few napkins to clean up the mess. The super old person waiter came and grabbed the napkins from my hand and shouted pls dont use them as they are very expensive and she used her old, smelly towel to clean the table. My friend who came from Hong Kong said to the lady If If the owner is so stingy about Napkins what would he feed his customer WE LEFT IMMEDIATELY.

Good food and service. They moved customers fairly quickly and yet we never felt rushed. It got quite busy but the one server did a great job.

I live by and pass a bunch of other breakfast places on the way, but prefer this breakfast place. Service is always good, the regular server we usually see is so funny & nice, food is always yummy and good portions. I like that they don t deep fry their home fries, & their rye bread is so thick and delicious.

The owner/manager of this location was rude and out of order in addressing customers. There was no customer service!!!

We had a great waitress named Anikita! She was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Always with a smile on her face. The only issue we had was the manager named Julie. The whole time we were there she belittled the other waitresses. She kept yelling the whole time! It was not enjoyable! I cannot believe the way she treated her coworkers! I asked to speak to the manager but he was busy. She should not get away with this behaviour!

Food was great with the exception of the potatoe home fries. I am used to having them with some crispiness to them everywhere else, but the Sunset Grill standard the last two franchises that I have visited seems to be just reheated on a grill, diced up boiled potatoes.

Kinda dingy, the cook had poor food handling practices (e.g., touching raw meat then touching vegetables and not washing hands) , dirty apron, gross!

This place is sunny and provide excellent service, good value for money.

This used to be our go to breakfast place, and now we avoid it. The restaurant is in rough shape, it looks like it hasnt been maintained very well at all. I understand the hardships restaurants have had since covid, however, I still expect they will at least take pride and keep them clean and maintained. The food is OK, and the service isnt terrible, but there are far better places in this area to go to.

We went to the location in Oshawa for brunch and the food was great and the waitress was friendly. We had a great experience!

This place is not the best to go to... very unorganized, service is super slow and they have absolutely no respect to the clients that are in the restaurant. Took is 20 min just to get coffee so ridiculous.

This has been my go to breakfast spot since moving to oshawa the past few months but today was my last straw with this location. I always ask for the home fries well done because I dislike the home fries from this company but the home fries here are never cooked enough no matter how many times U send them back. most times the serves also forget to tell the kitchen for well done. This morning I asked the server what I can substitute for the home fries since I don t like them and don t want to waste food, and if I can just have some toast instead. I was told no and that she s have to charge me for the toast. And the restaurant didn t have any other substitutes that I would eat. Not sure why toast is a big deal when the other subsistute options are veggies. Anyways just not the best customer service at this location. The server didn t even try once to even ask the kitchen if okay, just wants to upsell and that s it. Rather spend my Sundays at coco fruity where the customer service is immaculate. Most places on taunton road have poor customer service

On Sunday March 19th 2023 at approximately 11:30 am, my girlfriend regrettably made the recommendation that my friend and I should dine at the Sunset Grill, rather than the much superior Stacked Pancake and Breakfast House (in my personal opinion, not a sponsored message). Once we arrived, the four staff members took a prolonged goggle at us before ushering the chaps and I to our designated table like a deer caught in the headlights. This awkward greeting required a 6 minute thorough assessment by the staff to decide whether we wanted to dine-in or we were popping by the establishment to ask for directions. When finally seated, it required an additional 10 minutes before my girlfriend had to flag down a waitress to ask wether our disengaged waiter would be serving us. While observing in a disgruntled manner the other customers that were seated after us, being served and having their orders taken by other staff members our waiter was finally notified by another staff member that we had yet to be served. Our waiter finally waltzed over and took our orders in which added another 15 minutes to our unnecessary dine in. The waiter needed to be flagged down multiple times to refill my drink due to my diabetic (type 1) induced dehydration. Once the food was finally served by another staff member, the chaps and I had to get a bit creative with the space management of the table as the waiter failed to remove any clutter (empty cans and cups) from the table. During those circumstances a foolish thought was peculating that perhaps the food could salvage this dreadful experience. However, that was nothing more than a pipe dream for three reasons. First reason being that I spotted a hair that was entrenched within the maple syrup dispensary. Second reason, in conjunction with the first point, despite my pancakes being caked in maple syrup they were served bland, vulgar taste and did not have a fluffy like appearance. Lastly, the home fries in which I was most looking forward to, were undercooked (as I was looking forward to indulge in a crunchy and well-seasoned cooked (home fries). Overall, this experience was further exacerbated by the fact that we had to subsequently pay for mediocre food and unresponsive service. Not once during the entire meal were we checked in on, nor asked if we needed anything else. Absolutely ludicrous, only if this experience was a dinner and a comedy show. But thanks for a good laugh nonetheless. Left full of laughter but not full from consuming food.

One of the worst experiences I ve had coming here, first off me and my family had to ask to be served no one came to our table to offer us drinks or anything I understand that it gets busy but 25min wait was ridiculous. I ve been to other locations and service has been great but today it was non sense won t be coming back here for sure.

It is my first time sunset grill it is very clean and good service.

This particular location of Sunset Grill needs to reduce the number of tables they have or hire more staff. Both would be ideal. The kitchen simply cannot handle the number of customers they are currently set up to seat. My meal this morning took 35 minutes to prepare, after having waited 10-15 minutes to have my order taken. Tables sat waiting to be cleared while more customers queued at the door. Dirty plates and cups piled into trays and left forgotten (temporarily) on ledges. To be clear, I do not hold this against the staff whatsoever. They are charming and pleasant and absolutely helpful whenever they can come by, the issue stems from not having enough time to divide between the mountain of guests they have to serve! The good news is the quality of the food was no different from any other locations of the chain. I travel around the province for work and have frequently been a customer wherever I go. I am glad they arent trying to cut corners on their food but for the sake of their staff members I hope the owners take initiative to prevent the workload being so overwhelming going forward.

Food was pretty good but the home fries werent crispy enough but that is a personal preference.

Sunset Sandwich is great! The home fries may not be crispy though... But they were seasoned well. Good service too! Excellent price!

Well this place use to be good but it has been over a year since we been here. First the place needs a good cleaning. Second the home fries tasted like boiled potatoes cut up. No flavor and we re not crispy. The coffee was black water very weak. The only option for sweetener was sweet and low. ( not good for you) Should get with the times and have Splenda or Stevia. In addition, you need more servers . Oh and the cook had no cloves or no hair net.

Ordered a BLT. BLT was tasteless. baccon too . Hard tomatoes. HOME Fries were poor. Coffee to hot and taste was mediocor. Expensive . Was of ti.e and money.

We love it. My 7 year old son loves it and I do as well. Nice brunch place for us!

The waitress was very kind and attentive. The food didnt take too long to arrive and our coffee cups were always topped up. And this after a hockey team had just left. Parking: In a mall so lots of parking. Kid-friendliness: They had just served a junior hockey team so I would assume theyre child friendly.

The diner is never open as posted on the door. The owner is never present until late daily. The waitress staff are forced to cook early morning. No hair nets. Street clothes are worn. Between delivery orders and take out customers are forced to wait for service. Sunset Grill needs a rethink at this location. A shining example of great service and good can be found at your diner on Kingston Road near Morningside in Scarborough. Dietary restrictions: Vegan

I suggested myself and my friend dine at this Sunset grill location as I have had great experience at the Scarborough location. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience. We got to Sunset grill and waited couple of minutes to be seated. We got seated and our server was unpleasant..Anyways, she took our orders and brought our drinks.. We waited about 35 minutes, our food was not served even though two tables were served and we were seated before them and our orders taken before them..My friend beckoned on the waiter and we were told there is backlog so we would have to wait couple of mins more. My friend requested for the bill for the drinks immediately, then the waiter miraculously appeared with our food after saying we needed to wait a couple of minutes more.We ordered nearly the same type of breakfast adls the guests on the other tables as evident when their food was served so we didnt order anything complicated. I would usually not play the race card but I couldnt ignore the treatment as we were obviously the only blacks there and the last to be served after wasting so much of our time and there was no explanation as to why those other tables got served before us. If anyone chooses to dine at Sunset grill, pls go to another location. We found a much better diner where we were appreciated and treated like a valued customer. I wouldnt go back to any of the Sunset grill location.

I went to Sunset Grill in Oshawa, on April 18. As I sat at my table, I watched the cook . First of all, handling hamburger patties, no gloves, then sticking his hands in a container for veggies for salad, again, no gloves, other food items were touched, not even washed his hands!!!!!! It was disgusting I ll called the owner over to my table to tell him what I saw, he apologized and said that he wasn t the regular cook! Regular cook or not, should have been trained in food handling! Never going back. I hope that no one got sick!

!!! zero stars !!! From the front door it was terrible. Dirty entrance...literally DIRT on the half wall. The plants were dying, no sanitizer in either stand and no hostess. Some young girl from 15-20 feet away held up 2 fingers at us then started walking to an overcrowded section. We asked to be seated where there was more light. She accommodated without speaking amd looked confused by the request. The waitress was pleasant but needed more training on food knowledge and simple hospitality skills. She never checked in us, no coffee fill up (@2.75 each!!) And put the bill on the table when I wasnt even half into my meal. And, no, she was not done her shift. She continued to wander around. Now,...the food. This place has really gone down hill. Our meals were brpught to our table by someone from the kitchen. I had to flag down the waitress to get out toast. The potatoes were a mix of very well done hard bits and very undercooked chunks. I asked for over medium- specifically saying no runny whites. Lets just say, they were very snotty eggs. Both my husband and myself had overcooked, dried out sausages and their rye toast was very think slicesd, barely warm pumpernickel? This place is now on our do not go list. Oh !! AND.... what appeared to be the owner stood at the front cash the entire time we were there, talking and laughing on his cell phone. Terrible service, terrible food.

Did a takeout order. The music and atmosphere are noisy so make sure to speak loud Order came out nice however DO NOT DO TAKE OUT (it s not worth the hefty price) if you want to take advantage of their breakfast deals.

Nice variety of food, and tastes pretty good. The only thing i didnt like was that my eggs felt a little overcooked and my French toast seemed like there wasnt enough milk cooked with it, though that may just be my preference.

My server Julie was amazing! Funny and comforting. The food waa a bit salty but Julie fixed the problem right away.

My daughter ordered the vegan hasbrowns with French toast. I ordered an omlette that came with hashbrowns. Both hashbrowns were waaaay too salty! The vegan hashbrowns were reordered....again could not be eaten bc of the salt. Chef needs to have a lighter hand on the salt! I didnt eat mine either. Omlette was dry...both sides cooked first, then filling added resulting in a dried out omlette. Server Julie was amazing! Wont order anything with hashbrowns again, nor that omlette. Take it easy on the salt! We were told we wouldnt be charged for the vegan hashbrowns...that was not the case, we WERE charged for food that was inedible. Ugh!!

This may be a great place I think overall but there is an unwritten rule that if a customer finds a hair in his food during Covid where you have him sign a form for Covid tracing you give him his $9.00 breakfast for free even if they don t ask. The owner knew this and said nothing.

Disappointed that my meal had zero seasoning. Also quite alarmed by the number of servers wearing their masks below their noses...

I had ordered them through skip the dishes and when I received my order I found the container shoved in a bag that was too small for it and slopped over on its side so that it was leaking all over the inside of the bag and of course was a giant mess inside. Would advise to at least put it in an appropriate sized bag or container. And considering my order was quite small it could have been handled better by simply putting a little more thought into how it was to be packaged. Other than that it was alright. Not the best but not the worst.
