FAMILY WOK CHINESE FOOD in Oshawa

Ordered dinner tonight for my family and I as I was eating my food there was a piece of WOOD with BLUE PAINT in it!

Sesame chicken and the plain noodles were great!!!!

Best egg foo young Ive had, and best of all it had no rice.

Ive tried a lot of Chinese food restaurants in Durham Region... this is hands down the best one.

Food was fantastic and the price was fair. Finally found a good Chinese place in Oshawa.

Ordered a C2 bowl for my daughter. She took a bite and screamed out in pain and spit out a freaking staple !!!!! 8 years old and her mouth got cut open from a staple mixed in with your rice , angry isnt even the word to describe how Im feeling about this

I ordered black pepper beef with steamed rice, costed 18$ altogether. Came with 4 tiny pieces of beef and mostly a bunch of pepper and onions to fill up the volume. The taste was pretty bad too. Will never go back

Our regular place closed, and we have been struggling to find a new Chinese restaurant we like. The search is over! The food was hot, fresh, and delicious, their combos are a great value, and our order was ready super quickly. We will be back!

Amazing food super fast service!

This is my first time trying their food and I must say this has to be the best Chinese food Ive ever had. I got the dinner special sweet and sour shrimp with fried rice and chop suey and it was delicious not greasy it all my husband got the dinner special sweet and sour chicken balls black pepper steak and it also was delicious. The egg rolls fantastic not greasy it all and same as the chicken wings absolutely PERFECTION

Did not deliver food as ordered (allergens). Wings arent up to par. Hot and sour soup is WEAK. I put aside everything but the soup. Failure in that end. I can EASILY name 3 places in Scarborough make better H&S soup! Ive even had better at MANDARIN BUFFET of all places!!!! - reviewer not affected by allergen issues but VERY upset about the soup!

Called my order in for a pickup. When I got there 3 people continued to have a conversation for about 40 to 60 seconds. 2 people were facing me, and the person speaking and telling the joke, his back was turned towards me. I had to stand in an empty store, even having cleared my throat, and wait to pick up the order. The food was decent, the springroll had no taste at all, unseasoned. The rice was good, shanghai noodle was good , noodles were good, and the chicken dish was good. The front of the store could be cleaner. Im glad I tried the food, but I wouldnt go out of my way again to try it.

Never had a bad meal from here, not even one that was less good than usual. As far as price, quality, and consistency; this is probably the best restaurant in Oshawa. Excellent food for a better price. We showed up just before close on a sunday night and despite being already closed (cleaned up and ready to leave) they still cooked up the absolute best chnese food in Oshawa. I had the singapore special vermicelli and sesame chicken. So so good. Forget your usual restaurant and order here instead.

Ordered take out through Uber Eats and it was truly some of the best takeout Chinese we ve ever had. Everything was so fresh and flavourful and the food got us within 30 minutes of ordering. Shanghai Lo Mein, General Tao s chicken and Pork Fried Dumplings were our faves. Will definitely order from here again!

I order from here every Christmas Eve. I placed my order on Uber Eats two days in advance. My order was confirmed by the restaurant on the morning of the 24th. My order was scheduled to be delivered between 7 and 7:45, and I was advised that I had until 5:45PM to cancel. At 6:50, I received a message that Family Wok had cancelled my order. If the restaurant was overwhelmed with orders, I wouldve appreciated more sufficient notice. Especially since I couldnt cancel after 5:45. I had a house full of hungry guests and had to order from somewhere else. While Ive always enjoyed the food from here, this lack of courtesy has left a bad taste in my mouth and I wont be ordering again.

I have been a die hard fan of Silver star in Whitby for over 30 yrs. Ownership changed..TOTAL GARBAGE now. A friend told me about Family Wok, ok, ill give it a try....WOW, AMAZING FOOD. You now have a die hard customer. Keep making the great food.

Save your money. Smallest egg rolls I ve ever seen. Wonton soup more like chicken soup with the tiniest scraps of of pork and about 3 wontons in it. The rice was very bland etc. The Chinese food in Oshawa has gotten really bad. !!!

Hands down the worst Chinese food I have EVER had. Ordered the family meal for 3. I actually felt like I was robbed with what I got for the price. All rice and cheap veggies, along with bits of very sketchy rubbery grey chicken . The egg rolls with the grayish brown filling made me feel like vomiting when I looked inside it. Food ( if you could call it that) was bland, tasteless, no real meat, and greasy as hell. Do not give them you hard earned money..... May aswell eat the turtle in the friggin lobby!!

Have ordered from restaurant for delivery several times, for two. BBQ ribs received (Mar 18, 2023) were DISGUSTING! Tasted days old and on verge of being spoiled. Will never order again. Ruined entire meal for us. Sweet and sour chicken is delicious. No doughy batter but lightly battered thick pieces of chicken. Sauce is not too sweet. Fried rice is always not fried long enough. Similar to having regular, soft rice -- thats okay if thats what you are expecting. Beef and broccoli consistently good. Vegetables fresh and crispy. Soups have not disappointed us.

Best I ve had in Oshawa. We had it delivered and it was quick and hot. The shrimp weren t the greatest, like salad shrimp with 2 of dough. But I ll order again, without the shrimp.

Great there is no MSG. The single combinations have great options. Good portions. Also love there is a vegetarian combination C12. Vegetarian options: Have a combination vegetarian C12 hard to find that at Chinese take out. Thanks!

I received a large piece of metal in my meal from this place!!!! I called to report my issue and I was told the metal is what we use to clean our woks with. It happens. We can refund your noodles. Thats it! Do not risk your safety. Dont order from here!!!

Ordered on my birthday May 15 2020 and for the amount of money we spent I will tell you I will never return. The noodles that I asked for to not be Spicy where so SPICY we could not even eat them. All in all lets just say I love next day Chinese food but this one didnt got past the first day.. Very Disappointed for $60 and no one ate.

I tied this place for the first time on Christmas Day 2021. I thought it wound be good since they are so busy all the time. The food was ordered online and was ready on time . Brought the food home and it looked delicious. We started to eat our food and once my daughter had her 2nd helping of rice she found a cockroach in it. I m so glad I ordered plain rice. Otherwise we may not have seen it. Disgusting ! Please do not eat here. The part that freaks me out is . If they saw it would have they just scooped it out??

Ate from here and then I see a facebook post about roaches in the rice. Guys... do better pls.

The food wasnt very good. The sweet and sour chicken balls tasted weird. The sweet & sour sauce & lemon sauce were both cold, every other Chinese restaurant I have ordered from has sent warm sauce. The lemon chicken (if it was even chicken) was mostly breading & barely any meat inside. Will not order from Family Wok again.

I rarely if ever order food for delivery, and really cant remember the last time I ordered Chinese Food , but recently my friend suggested we try some just for a change. We randomly chose Family Wok, as it was the closest nearby restaurant. We ordered 5 separate items and were pleased with the quantity and quality of the food and it was delivered in under 45 minutes . I would order from them again in the future.

Pork fried rice was okay but the szhezhuan chicken was full of vegetables and the sauce was very sassy had no taste in it. But look at the size of the broccoli .. don t you have a knife to cut it down???? Won t go again

I usually like Family Wok Chinese food. But tonight was a bad experience the egg rolls were all dough very little filling and chicken balls you might as say were dough compared to the that was in them. Dont think Ill be going back here anytime soon. Ill be going back to New Century even if I have to drive abit further.

Very flavourful, well made, great portions! We waited a little while for the delivery, but considering we only put an order in at 6pm on a Saturday, we expected to wait and had no problem doing so. We will definitely be ordering again!

Revising my review, after trying them again, they are still very fast and reasonably priced but the quality of food improved so extra star. It has become our go to for Chinese food. I can definitely say Ive had kung pao from 6 different restaurants in Durham and their is hands down the best.

Ordered this for the family tonight. I was not impressed with what I received. I ordered 3 different dishes but when we opened the dishes they all looked the same, just different meat! Each dish had way more vegetable(all the same) than meat. Not worth the money I paid for. Would not recommend. I usually do not rate but my disappointment was overwhelming. Will not order from this restaurant again, sorry.

I have lived in Oshawa for 12 yrs. Yet I have never ordered Chinese Food Delivery. I usually just go and dine out for chinese. This one evening I decided to order a take-out, I chose family wok because of all the positive reviews, I shake my head every time I think how the hell could this be an almost 5 star rating, Chicken wings overcooked and very dry, sweet and sour chicken was very greasy, egg rolls also overcooked, sweet and sour pork also very greasy, I personally will never order from here again, hopefully my next order from another Restaurant gives me a better experience

It took about four tries but they finally drew me a picture of a dinosaur on the bag. If that isnt service to you then go get colitis from The Mandarin Buffet because mom burnt the turkey.

Just ordered from here yesterday. By far the worst Chinese food Ive ever had. The rice was soggy and mushy, chicken balls were also soggy and not crispy. The noodles were way over sauced. Chop suey and egg rolls were flavorless. And in general everything had a weird taste. Non of us finished our plates. YUCK

I just have one word to say about the foods AMAZING Really fast delivery and everything packing so good. We ordered Chinese Rice with vegetables, Deep Fried Wonton and with Cheese and Sweet and Sour Pork.

Food was not very tasty. -Steam dumplings had raw pork not cooked on the inside -chicken dish were mostly fake chicken mixed in with few pieces of real chicken. There price reflects the level of there food pay a little more a buy somewhere else.

I just order what was once my regular order of steamed pork buns. What I got was some sort of sad log shapped undercooked chewy pork monstrosity. Very dissatisfied sadly I dont think ill be ordering from here again.

Seriously, avoid this place. I didnt experience anything harmful but I was shocked at how they take your hard-earned money for meat dishes and serve you a whole lot of filler and a surprisingly small about of meat. We ordered two different meat dishes and both were basically 90 percent celery and other inexpensive vegetable fillers. Weve probably all experienced something like this before but this was extreme.

This restaurant popped up in my Google places as a suggested visit. Been to many Chinese takeouts but this place surprised. Will return to sample more of the menu.

Fast, and reliable service. My order is always consistent and delicious. All items are priced very reasonable. Substitions can be made to non-fixed menu options. The only bummer is it is a little difficult to maneuver getting into the resturant with a stroller. This is a present problem with Downtown Oshawas accessibility.

C12 vegetarian combo...it was okay. Egg rolls are kinda small for 1.25.

I have been ordering delivery from Family Wok for years and have never been unsatisfied. Their menu is absolutely delicious. They never use MSG and only fresh vegetables and it really shows. I have enjoyed my meals there so much that I call the restaurant to pass on my compliments to the chef that day. Simply the best Chinese food Ive had in Durham Region in the 20 years Ive lived here. My current fave is the C2 combo dinner with General Tao Chicken, Chicken Balls and their divine Chicken Fried Rice. My fave appetizer is always the Deep Fried Wontons that they do just perfectly. Very crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside but never ever greasy. In fact, none of the dishes Ive had from them are ever greasy. Highly recommended.

This is the first time we have ordered from family wok as our regular Chinese food place was closed. All I can say is WOW! So glad we ordered. The chicken fried rice is amazing. Nice and moist, with a good smoke flavor. Beef and broccoli was delish. The beef was so tender, and the sauce was very tasty. Everything was really good, only feedback I was is, the fried chicken wings were a little dry, and had a freezer burnt kinda taste to them. Other than that, everything else was above our expectations.

There are lots of options to choose from, and their food is great. They are really friendly, and Ive never had an order that was wrong, even when I asked not to put mushrooms in one of their dishes. You dont have to wait long to get your order. By the time you order for pickup, itll be close to ready, if not already done, by the time you get there to pick it up.

First time ordering from here, the food was excellent fresh made to order. When I took the lid off my General Taos chicken my mouth literally started to water. The staff are very friendly. I will be making Family Wok Chinese Food my #1 choice from now on.

Overall very pleased with this restaurant! Quick service, delivered within 45 minutes of ordering. All the food was great, its different seeing the chicken balls smaller, but it was honestly better so I didnt have to cut it up for my little one. The deliverer set it up so I only had to tap my card and not touch anything.

BUYER BEWARE - my wife ordered delivery from Family Wok through their online ordering form and gave a tip in their checkout menu. When the delivery driver arrived, he conveniently gave her the pin pad with the tip option without giving her the receipt with the online transaction that showed she already tipped, thus tipping twice. My wife called the restaurant and they said they would refund the extra tip charges if she goes to the restaurant (if confirmed I will revise my rating). The food was good but definitely BEWARE of the sketchy delivery drivers that deliver your food from this restaurant.

Flavourful Chinese food!! Not your average or generic tasting. Family Wok has unique variations to the usual dishes, which are really tasty. Their portion sizes are generous and their prices are more than fair. You won t be disappointed! We live in Courtice, but Family Wok has become our new go to place for Chinese food. My personal favourite is their Hot & Sour soup.

The place seemed nice so I wanted to try it based on reviews. The food was bland and tasted boring .I got the chicken and also shrimp fried rice and hot and sour soup and seafood soup. It honestly has not very unique taste and very bland.

My absolute favourite Chinese restaurant in Oshawa. I will walk there when Im at home and when Im away I still order from there regardless of any extra charges. By far the best hot and sour soup I have ever had. When I have it anywhere else its always disappointing. The chicken balls are the miniature style so theres a perfect amount of chicken and dough in every bite. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Average Chinese fare. Rice was a little mushy and chow mein had an odd taste to it. Good portion size and many combos to choose from.

Their food is great, non greasy with no MSG and good portions. Prices are low too as you will see on the menu. They have very quick service and very kind staff. 100% recommend.
