Its under new owners and the food wasnt like before. I didnt like it at all spent 101.00 on our order they messed up then had to buy the order they didnt put in. Also the prices were increased the food not good. Were finding another Chinese place to order from.

My mom and I enjoy coming to Kings Buffet and everytime we come Shauna the waitress is FANTASTIC! Very hard working and on the ball with making sure the tables get clean and prepped for the next customers. She is definitely a big asset to the establishment and should be recognized for all her hard work! We always look forward to coming in because of Shauna and her attention to perfection in looking after us each time! The food, some items are a hit and miss. Sometimes we come in and the food is great and other times they are less flavourful and look like they have been sitting for a while and not fresh.

Excellent staff today, the girl was so attentive to customers and very nice. Chefs today did amazing - the chicken skewer marinade was fragrant and delicious, sago coconut pudding was creamy light and so yummy, excellent pan fried rice noodle ! Kid-friendliness: Very accessible to babies, they have menu items that kids would like (including fries and jello dessert)

Been going here for decades and it never disappoints. Hands down best value and food is always fresh. Their prime rib is amazing which is a nice side to all the great Chinese options.

New owners need some assistance in how to operate the business. Its a large resteraunt with a busy turn around of take out. But telling customers orders will be ready in 45 minutes and still have them wait an additional 30+ minutes after the arranged pick up time is too much. Additionally our last few orders have had missing items. Thank goodness the cook stayed when the restaurant was sold because they make the best food!

I visited here with a large group for a birthday party and they were very accommodating even after the guest count was more than we thought. They have a very cute room in the back where they allow you to decorate and you can stay as long as you want (other restaurants gave us a two hour time frame, which was not enough to eat, drink, and socialize). The service and the food was amazing and we will definitely be back! Thank you for making my grandmas birthday special!

If you want the most basic Chinese food options then this is the place to go. Dont get me wrong, the food was fresh and it was good. If you want variety go somewhere else as there was not a lot of options to choose from. Fried rice, noodles, chicken wings/balls, etc. They also randomly had breakfast sausage during dinner time. The restaurant itself could use some updating but was clean. If you come with a baby, expect to pay for them. We brought our baby (10 months). He had a little bit of rice and noodles (maybe enough for 1 or 2 adult bites). Every other all you can eat place we have been to has never charged for a baby. Staff was friendly and frequently came by to see if we needed drink top ups.

Staff is very nice but $17 for chilli chicken. It was 95% onion and maybe a handful of chicken. The chicken had no taste at all. Very disappointed, wouldnt go back

Great service. Always polite and food is good value. Ordered a few days in advance to make sure we would beat the rush for Christmas Eve. Order was ready at pick-up time. And due to the temperature it was obviously just packed.

Truly awful. Ordered for pickup on Christmas day. Had to wait in lobby for at least 10 mins. while hostess was on the phone taking an order. Lemon chicken so dry and tough it was impossible to chew. General tao chicken was basically just dried out popcorn chicken without any sauce. Chicken balls had barely a speck of sauce as well. Wings soft and greasy. Will definitely never order again.

Their food is so good and delicious. My family and I always go there every week until we were told that we are always wasting food which is so rude cause what do you expect from a family of five and most of the remnants are bones .we always try hard to not waste food .we felt so insulted that we have decided not to every step foot there again

We got take out meal no. 3 and 4. It tasted ok but I had no. 4 and it was supposed to have chop suey and there was only little bits through my beef with vegetables. My beef with vegetables had 3 pieces of beef and 16 pieces of broccoli. Food

Never liked this place. I got food poisoning within 20 min my stomach was upset and progressed to get worse. My husband had some and the exact thing happend to him . Never again I dont recommend this place.

Its gone down hill lately. Got duck sauce with my egg rolls because they arent getting any plum sauce in. Lucky I had plum sauce from the grocery store in the fridge... Maybe they should try that.

Google says open. Restaurant hours say closed at 8:30. Open sign lit up. People working inside. Doors unlocked. If you don t want to cook for just one person, close the store. Don t tell me you re only open on the weekend.

Love this place ! Cam and his wife are great . Food is always great, been going here since 2006 and never had a bad experience. Tried all the other local Chinese food restaurants and they don t come close !

Junk people are terrified of a flu or cold wont open the doors for people to enjoy the buffet i hope it goes out of business for turning its backs on the people when the whole world is open besides this place was not that clean anyways bathrooms is there storage closet with boxes and everything else in there place is a joke if u dont want to open your doors in canada then just shut your doors for good

Nice to see him open on the weekends for dinner again. Our recent trip found the food to be fresh, plentiful and delicious. Price $22.95 all you can eat isnt bad.

Went for the buffet and the price was so good for the amount of food you can eat. Not a big buffet with a lot of options but there s a good amount of options and it s worth it because of the price. Staff were super friendly and helpful.

Food was okay, but we had a 1 year old with us. Can you believe they charged 4.95 for a one year old that had a few pieces/strands of chow mein noodles. Handicap ramp out front not cleared off snow. Okay that may be property managements responsibility, but if its out front of MY business, I would go clean it so customers can get in them take it up with property management. First time back in years, but I dont know if I will be back.

Great Chinese food , been going for years

I ve been coming here since i was a kid with my family. Now 25 years old and living in a town 30 minutes away, today i returned for the first time inside the restaurant in probably 10 years with my finance. Was comforting to see familiar faces greeting us at the door. The waitress, was upbeat and her smile warmed me. The food is just as good if not better than i remember. My partners first time, and says he won t go anywhere else. Thank you

I have to say I ve been coming to Oshawa s King Buffet since I was a tiny kid, I m 35 now and it was different this time. I was served by a waitress name Shauna and she was amazing! Fast and efficient! Really made sure you were taken care of and she was quick coming back to let us cash out right away! I ve never had that ever happen before. I will definitely be back! Also I want to add the food was fresh and yummy! Some changes were made to the food and I would say there great changes! If you boycotted them in the past I would give them another chance and make sure you get Shauna she s the very best and there very lucky to have such a great, fast and efficient waitress!

The hot food is still amazing and well cooked. Prices are way up now (by myself as an adult I paid $28 with rax and tip). Soft drinks are now served in cans, no more refills. Salad bar is far more limited than before, a few veggies. The ice cream was rock hard and nearly unscoopable, it must be very old. The look is cleaner, but they lack where it counts. Almost same price as Mandarin lunch. I feel kinda bad for the new owners, but Im going to Mandarin for my buffet fix.

Ive ordered from most places in Oshawa and nothing compares to the size and portions you get from Kings. Never had issue ordering takeout multiple times a year.

Great dinner with a reasonable price. We stayed for dine-in buffet and took a buffet to go home for my son. The take out buffet is such an amazing deal, so much food for $15. Ive split it with my husband or son and everyone is super full and satisfied.

Great buffet

Celebrated my 38th birthday here. The waitress was very kind and accommodating. I did have a small incident with a drink and the waitress did everything she could to fix it. She tried to offer another drink but I drank the first one so fast it was already hitting me. One drink was enough for me haha. They felt bad and ended up paying for my whole dinner. This was not expected and very much appreciated! Food was delicious and they even lit a candle on a cake for me at the end. Thank you Oshawa Kings Buffet for making my 38th birthday dinner a pleasant one!

We only order take out. Great food. Their combos for 1 are enough for 2 days. Weve been ordering for years after trying other places, which we liked none of them.

My family has been eating here for years. Special occasions, family dinners. It s our fave Chinese food place! Amazing food! Prices have increased pretty drastically. Unfortunately can t go as much as we used to.

Best Chinese food Ive ever had!!! The food portion sizes are huge and the prices are very decent. I have tried other local Chinese food spots and none even come close in comparison to this place. If Im ever in the mood for Chinese food, I drive right to this spot. You definitely need to eat here if you havent already.

Great food and great variety

We were happy to try this place based on positive word of mouth. Unfortunately the meal didn t sit well with us as my husband and I were both very sick after eating. We ordered General Chicken which was almost black in colour and extremely dry, chicken fried rice and the chicken pieces were smaller than the couple peas we found in it. Maybe 4-5 peas, tiny amount of chicken and nothing else in it. The beef and broccoli wasn t too bad though. After my husband tried to eat it as left overs (he doesn t like to waste) and was sick again.. we threw it all away. Don t recommend.

The food is ok at best. I would suggest driving up the hill to Golden Pine.

No longer buffet

Used to love this place but now they only offer takeout. All restaurants are back to full capacity, so this is greed in the way they dont have to pay as much staff or do buffet. However their takeout is just as much or even more. I wont support that.

They are not reopening. They remained takeout only throughout COVID. Even now with everything lifted and everything open again they have made no attempt to return to a buffet restaurant. Seems this is now just a takeout place.

Food was quick and good! We loved the chicken balls, egg rolls, chicken fried rice. Will order again!

The food we got was very tasty and hot. Prices were normal, but you get a lot of food for the money. Unfortunately they only have takeout for the time being. I cant wait for them to open the sit-down.

Terrible food. I have been going there since I was a kid for the buffet with my parents.. I ordered my usual and the last couple.tines I noticed cold precooked for the last time. I will spend my money elsewhere.portions are good but thats about it.. very poor quality. when I mentioned to them they are rude .. time for a new takeout place..good bye to you guys..

I don t often write reviews, but people need to know that this restaurant serves food that I wouldn t feed to my dog. I bought the #5 general Tao chicken with rice. The chicken must have been a week old, well maybe that s a bit exaggerated, but you should get the point. It was like eating chicken jerky. I didn t eat it. This was ment to be my dinner at work for the night, so you can guess how pi..ed I was when I opened it. Don t eat here.

Food is always amazing. The workers there always remember my husbands family, which I think is so sweet considering how many orders I m sure they get! They have the best lemon chicken I ve ever had, the breaded shrimp are addicting as well! I haven t had a single item from there that I haven t loved. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge!

Normally food is good. My last order was disappointing.

The buffet finally opened again on weekends. Pretty similar to the old buffet with a few menu changes. They dont have the garlic shrimp, curry chicken and most importantly for me the BBQ spare ribs which were my favorite. The cocktail shrimps and cold mussels which I also used to love were awful, I mean borderline inedible! The texture on both was like rubber, physically hard to chew and the flavour was terrible. Back in the day this was never an issue. They seriously need to reevaluate how theyre defrosting the items or the quality of the product itself. I think a food inspector would demand they be removed from the buffet, they were that bad. Ill go back one more time, if the quality of those two products hasnt improved Ill never go again and Ill be making a call to the health department.

My husband and I ate here the soup was ok I ate mussels and shrimp and by the time we got to leave I was sick threw up everything I ate please do not eat at this place( not safe) , the manager was yelling across the restaurant at his staff with a packed restaurant which was unpleasant , not a good place to take your family it s totally disgusting Parking: Parking was the only thing good about this place

Ordered food over the phone for pick-up, by the time we got home and went to eat it, half the order was forgotten/wrong. Halfway through eating realized they had put shrimp in the spring rolls when we ordered Veggie ones. Somebody had a severe allergic reaction to the shrimp. We called the restaurant and they couldnt care less, even after telling them it might send somebody to the hospital. They faulted us, and hung up. Will not be returning to this restaurant

I have been going here with my family for 20 years. I have never had hair in my food like people are saying. Also someone said theres nothing for people who dont eat meat. Not true. Theres salads,veggies,eggs,cut up fruits and such. I do find in between lunch and dinner isnt the best time to go as the food has sat for a bit. If you want to I for dinner go around 6. Everything is always really fresh and hot then. I will continue on going as we have never had a problem in all our years going there.

A set off people with least customer care ..

Ordered sweet &sour pork for delivery. They mixed the pork with the sauce, put it in a styrofoam half-clamshell and put an elastic around it. By the time it got to my house, the paper bag dripped that red-staining sauce across my floors and all over my kitchen before I could open the bag. When I called about the manager argued with me that I must have opened the bag wrong. After I told him this happened before I opened the bag, he said I must have carried it wrong and spilled it myself. I used to own a food delivery service and I TRAINED my drivers to carry their delivery bags properly, so again, no. Yet he refused to take responsibility for this mess of a $40 meal. Will never order from here again.

Disappointing. Rice good, noodles good. Any other main dishes is 70% onions, 25% green pepper and 5% advertised main item. For example Diced Shrimp with vegetables came with 5 shrimp, a whole lot of onions and some green peppers. Similar with other main dishes. Will try other restaurants.

Food is good. the lemon chicken is amazing the icecream is good.. its just a shame there tables are closed because of corona.. call them for a lemon chicken serving. and tbey will give you 2 big meat checkenbreast pied fried with lemon sauce for under 12.50. really good food down there.. polite people. I have been going to this place since I was young

One of my favourite places to eat before an Oshawa Generals game. Great food and you can leave your car parked in their lot and walk across the street to the hockey game. Its a great deal.

Keep giving these guys chances but theres only so times you can allow them to mess up family dinner time. Last time they forgot to make our order and it took 2.5 hours to get our food. This time the guy delivers the food, just says thanks goodbye without offering to give me back my change, food was all over the place in the bag because it fell over, sent the wrong order, then charged me extra to send the right order. Will never order from here again!!

The staff here are always courteous, fast, and the establishment is very family friendly. The food is great, I love that they always have fresh roast beef and veggies so you can have a healthy meal and snack on the delicious fried lemon chicken and other snacks. My kids love the fresh fruit, jello and pudding :)

Ordered for take out/pickup. Got there said my order was ready, go in pay for it get home and before I can sit down they call and tell me my order is ready. Ok so now I look at what I brought home guess what not my order. Now Im inconvenienced as I have to go back and pick up my order and they are not just around the corner. Get there no apology for giving me the wrong order and they want 3 dollars more not oh were sorry for inconvenience no extra charge. I will accept a small portion of blame as I should have looked at order but they should have confirmed order before completing sale. Will think long and hard before going back there again.

Used to be great a few years ago but has steadily went downhill since. Food is ok sometimes, while other times quality is not good at all. I have gotten sick from here a few times hours after eating it. service can be hit or miss if you dine in (experience before covid) such as staff never coming to the table, not offering beverages or having to find someone to get your bill because nobody goes to the tables. When we spoke to manager he was very unprofessional and did not seem to care with the lack of customer service in his resturaunt.

Got there at 3:30, had to sit in car till ,4, man lady went in before 4, and were aloud to eat, wen I asked why I had to Waite man said well it was a couple so I let them eat, I am 68 and disabled and I had to Waite,then food was cold, not good,it was 18$, as Thay have no senior discount, service was not great food gave me a bad stomach ache, never again for 20.00 I will go to the Mandarin

Good selection of food. HORRIBLE service. Its like youre doing THEM a favour by being there. Had to grab the head waitress (Owner) to get drinks and plates were left on the table after 2 visits to the buffet. I didnt even ask for the bill and she tossed it on our table. I went to pay and gave no tip. I swear she wanted to spit on me. She turned her back, didnt say anything, didnt offer me a receipt. I leaned in and said very loudly YOURE WELCOME and left.

This is a value buffet with a good variety. We went on a Friday night and they had a decent selection. Some salads, rice dishes, noodles, beef, pork and chicken dishes, soups, sushi, different desserts and more. I would place this restaurant in the casual dining category and with that in mind we left pleased and will likely return again.
