20 King St E, Oshawa, ON L1G 4Y5, Canada
The food is garbage, I wouldn’t even feed it to my dog. I don’t think they even use real chicken, and there batter around the chicken balls was thicker than the chicken and dry as ass, the sauce was not good either, the chicken chow mein was supposed to have chicken in it, I don’t know what it was, but it was not chicken. It was the worst Chinese food that I have ever eaten. So guess what I did with it… I threw it in the garbage, because I think that’s where it came from.
This is the most under-rated and one of the best restaurant in oshawa. Their foods are awesome and freshly made. Love those 2 boy's who are continously helping their mom...It's very hard to find any halal Chinese restaurant in GTA, and absolute respect for the entire family for making this possible in oshawa. I am sure your visit will be paid of there and you gonna love the food, atmosphere and those adorable boys. Wish you best of luck lucky cho !
I absolutely love Lucky Cho! The food is authentic, fresh, and packed with flavor. Their chicken chow mein is my favorite — perfectly seasoned with just the right mix of ingredients. The service is always friendly, and the portions are generous. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving delicious, authentic Chinese food!
Food isnt special, but not nearly as deranged as what other reviewers have posted. The chicken *is* well battered, but it's what I'd expect from most Chinese places. Sesame chicken flavour was good. Lemon chicken is decent. Steamed rice is maybe too large grain. A little dry. Lunch special portion of chicken is a bit smaller than I'd expect Overall, passable, not terrible. Price is low.
One of my favourite Chinese food restaurants in Durham. The food is never greasy and the sauces are always fresh. The people who run are restaurant are always nice and friendly. I have never had a bad experience!
We do not normally complain. The food was horrible. For real. Photo 1 “Vegetable delight” is the photo attached. Felt like it came out of a swamp. Photo 2 “Chicken with mixed vegetables” Is the same dish with a bit of chicken added. Do not order from here if you are looking for a good Asian food experience.
I ordered from here tonight and went outside my Comfort box and was immediately surprised and impressed. The quality and care that went into packaging to ensure the food was not crushed by the “to-go” serving trays was greatly appreciated. I ordered through Skip the Dishes and my food arrived hot and tasty! I had ordered Hakka noodles (the Spicey ones) and was very good. All my Food was taste and flavourful. Will definitely be ordering from here again. They did not disappoint.
I was out looking for a restaurant that I have never been to. I came across this absolute gem of a spot. When first walking in you will notice how bright and clean the owners keep their restaurant. I was able to place my order quickly and have a cold beer while I waited. The owners were very friendly and took the time to have a pleasant conversation with me. Returning home I had a feast of a meal. The rice here was so full of flavor. I will be a returning customer here 100%. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Probably the worst chicken fried rice weve ever eaten.
I used to order both pick-up and delivery here regularly. I stopped due to them advertising free delivery on their menu within a certain range after spending a specific amount. I live a 10 min walk and have been charged a delivery fee multiple times until recently when I received the hard copy of their menu vs ordering through their google webpage. Which is false advertising, its a poor way to conduct business. I no longer use this restaurant as I do not know how much money Ive been scammed out of over the years, and yes $6 maybe 2-4 times a month, adds up. Exceptionally unimpressed.
All the food was bland and mushy, all of it was coated with too much flour and baking powder then to top it all of it was overcooked.
Save your money the worst food ever it made me sick all night called and they didn t care
Absolutely the worst Chinese food we ve ever had, disgusting ! No flavour whatsoever. Go to Walmart and buy the frozen Chinese dinners lmao. This is a disgrace to Chinese food. Spent $50 to just throw it away.
This place gotta decide if they wanna be Indian based or Chinese based food, they combine the flavours which make it taste aweful or should atleast put up a sign that says they Indian-Chinese. 100% Indians will like it. I can t believe they think it even Chinese food I bet owners don t even eat it
The absolutely worst Chinese food ever, and Ive lived all over the world and tried all kinds of food but I have just wasted $70 on a night I didnt want to cook for my family, because I still ended up having to cook it over and Remix it. I had to strain the Singapore noodles and add meat to it since it had a dry rub poured into thw noodles with a strong flavor that isnt curry, nor consistent with Singapore noodles. The meat was supposed to be chicken, and I dont know who they think theyre fooling, it was some dumplin or flour or cornstarch around a tiny piece of chicken from perhaps a thigh or drumstick, and I get that the economy is bad and people trying to cut costs, but its gonna be at the cost of risking having to close cause the food tastes horrible. The texture was like soggy bread what they called chicken. Then was the beef and broccoli.. one small handful of beef hidden under and scattered through about a pound of broccoli. Smh. Then the chicken fried rice, again same meat substitute and no veggies. I ha to re-cook that as well with some frozen veggies added. For that price they could have bought a bag of frozen veggies for less than $5 and even added a handful if they wanted to skimp! I want to go to the actual restaurant and get my money back... Ill update my review when I find out what the possibility and the answer is for those of you who are sorely disappointed. People work hard for their money and when they want to treat themselves on a weekend and then get very sa because dinner has to take another hour to either re-cook or re-order from elsewhere, it is only fair they get some compensation for their time and money. When you pay for a product you should get it!
Ordered first time delivery and impressed with all the food and delivery. Will order again
food is so bad Beef taste sour.
Worse Chinese food I have ever had. Doesn t even taste like Chinese it has more of an Indian (spicy) taste. I m also a fan of Chinese red sauce and they didn t give any which was disappointing.
Food was ok, could be more flavourful. It was bland
I was sick all night after eating from here
low price and clean
Ordered through UBER. Worst Chinese food we ve ever had. No flavour, Shanghai noodles were mush, the meat had a weird texture. STAY AWAY from this place. Food
I ordered food today through Skip. The food I received tasted extremely tasteless. Too much oil. No seasoning. Very disappointed. And not worth the cokjng effort or mo ey spent
Ordered noodles and chilli beef through Uber. It was the worst Chinese food i have ever had. Both the items had overpowering smell of oil (dripping oil as well) and had no sauce whatsoever. I would highly recommend to stay away from this restaurant.
This place I haven t written a review but what I could say it was not the greatest place that I have eaten food. I ve ordered multiple times and I give them a couple of chances even when I entered the restaurant the staff was friendly the food wasn t so fresh! The staff leaves food overnight with saggy meat. They do make the delivery at your home but it s not the best overall.
Bland and generic.
Worst food we have ever tried in Canada. In Bombay chicken there were 10% chicken and 90% coating of wheat or flour. Chicken Fried rice had no chicken and even eggs present in it. Total waste of money. Never recommend anyone here.
Ordered dinner for 5 on Christmas Eve and was very pleased with each dish I received. Speaking for myself, the food has always been good each time I have ordered.
Great Chinese food. Yum
We always get Chinese for New Year Day here. Food is good, price is great and service is friendly and fast.
Great food at a good price! Quality and quantity - the lemon chicken and fried rice were fresh, hot and flavorful. The spring rolls are also good. The staff were friendly and helpful. My order was take out, which I will definitely do again.
Not a halal food they dont even know what is halal food is???
Great food at good prices. Friendly service and owners. Their chicken fried rice is the best.
I order veggie Hakka noodles and munchoorian. It taste disgusting.
Terrible experience. Food was old and stale. Ordered Chicken fried rice , shrimp with mix vegetables, chicken manchurian and chicken hakka noodles. OVER 50$...Everything went in the garbage had to arrange for dinner after. Very disappointing that a resturant can take people for a ride like this. These establishments are a disrespect to kitchen culture. They would not eat the food they serve themselves. SHAMELESS!!
Wonderful experience - loved their lucky chow mein with shrimps
Im not usually the one complaining about food but Very bad tasting Chinese food Ive ever eaten, felt stale and very unpleasant.
Food is very good most of the time, but I did find this in my food tonight.. other then that food was good. Just didn t eat this dish
always yummy, hot and fresh. Super cute & retro inside with amazingly sweet humans who run the house. Hakka noodles are new to me, but I love the chow mein. Wonton soup has fresh veggies in the broth & is totally delish.
Great option for halal hakka style Chinese in Oshawa. Super affordable as well....expect to shell out under $12-13 per person when ordering in a group
Had our first AND last order from this establishment. Egg rolls over fried to almost rock hard, and almost no filling. Hakka dishes were ALL battered and deep-fried. This is NOT Hakka. Just garbage, deep-fried. Ill stick with Tangerine.
Food is flavourful and is not dry! Best fried rice I had so far in the GTA. Really really great Chinese food and is the best in Oshawa :)
Really bad chicken it s cheap because it s bad it gave me food poisoning I don t recommend any of their food.
Simply put....the worst chinese food ive ever had.
Fantastic. Best chicken fried rice I ve had!! I ve had better egg rolls but they were all around delicious! Would definitely order from here again. Delivery lady was super friendly as well
worst experience no taste
Taste less
The restaurant was clean and bright. We don t often eat downtown, but this place was a pleasant surprise. We had a dinner for two, which included drinks, spring rolls (or egg rolls), chicken fried rice and two of your favourite mains from the menu. It pushed us to the limit to consume the entire meal. The service was friendly and quick. The meal was obviously cooked to order as the veggies were hot and crisp.
I usually dont complain but this is a little concerning. The chicken is rubbery and doesnt taste like chicken. Im very disappointed and will not be returning.
Worst Chinese ever tried
One restaurant my wife usually orders food from, reasonable price and food tastes good.
this is the first time I m writing a review of the food for a restaurant because I was so disappointed. Some of these reviews are glowing and I was so excited to try the food and had such high expectations. I can honestly say this is the WORST Chinese food I ve had. I ve tried many restaurants over the years and being from Toronto, I know my Hakka/Chinese food. I ve tried other restaurants in the Oshawa/Whitby area as well so I m not basing this off of one try. My mother and I got the dinner for 2 which is pretty standard with two spring rolls, a chicken fried rice, two entrees, two cans of pop and fortune cookies. We got kung pao chicken and chilli chicken for the entrees. Chilli chicken is my favourite dish and I get it every single time I order hakka food. I could cry with how bad this food was. I couldn t even tell what dishes I ordered because the taste was so off!! An odd flavour and little to no spice, sweet for some reason??? The rice was super dry and had barely anything in it also barely any chicken in the entrees and packed with vegetables. Seriously the worst. Honestly don t bother trying this place and I don t know what these people are on saying that this restaurant is good y all have to be lying or trying to help them get business (which they don t deserve) Instead try Fine Taste Hakka or The Zen and be happy with your food. I ve tried both of these places several times and they do not disappoint especially Fine Taste. Never ordering from Unlucky Cho ever again. Y all suck.
The most worst food I have ever eaten
Found this restaurant when downtown. Great food wonderful staff. Will be going back
Dreadful The illegal rooming renters upstairs are continually coming and going dealing. All you hear is John throw my drugs down !!! Will not never eat in an establishment that promotes selling of drugs
This was the worst Hakka chinese food Ive ever eaten in my life. My wife and I ordered chicken Manchurian, spring rolls, dumplings, and fish pakora. The Manchurian had no flavour, it was just extremely spicy, I ordered it with gravy, even the gravy was non existent. The dumplings, spring rolls and fish pakora had a very bland taste, didnt feel like it had any salt or pepper in it, there was no flavour and they were extremely dry. The only thing you can get from here and wont be dissatisfied is the chicken corn soup, otherwise I recommend Fine Taste Hakka has better taste and options in Whitby.
Really bad !
Unfortunately I was so disappointed with my food. Ordered chicken Shanghai noodles and they were really unappetizing. The chicken is rubbery and I couldn t stomach it. The noodles were flavourless and also a pile of mush.
Ordered from here several times .. last few times not overly impressed..food quality is getting worse .. ordered General Tao Chicken... It definitely is not what we expected .. very soggy brown wet sauce.. I have ordered this in past .. Not what I had gotten previously .. beef broccoli was ok hence the 2 * .. .. they have lost another patron .. would not recommend
Excellent vegetarian Chinese food and their customer service was amazing 10/10
Food always excellent and always take out
We were worried about ordering our traditional Chinese food dinner on Christmas eve but we decided to try Lucky Cho for the first time even though some of the reviews were not good....and we are so glad we did. The food was tasty and exactly what we ordered and we didnt have to worry about MSG as they stopped using it years ago. We will be regular customers from now on..
Very good food
By far the best in durham! Im so impressed with the size of the servings and the price. Taste is beyond delicious! I am telling everyone please dont listen to the negative reviews. Get yourself some lucky cho
First time ordering. Portion size is decent and enjoyed the chicken pokaras, egg fried rice and manchurian chicken. We ordered some Shanghi veg noodles. Felt they were a bit oily for me...but wife liked them. I would suggest do not order lollipop chicken if ordering the pokaras. A bit too similar. I will be ordering from here again.
Amazing food. Amazing staff. Always hot and fresh.
Excellent tasting food. Perfect for takeout
The best Hakka Chinese food in Oshawa. Their food is always fresh, hot, flavourful and delicious. The people that run it are always so friendly. The chilli chicken on fried rice and corn soup is my favourite!
The best place in Durham for comfort Chinese vegetarian food great taste!
Great food and service.
In comparison to other hakka Chinese restaurants their portions are small but taste is better. The lunch specials are the best in town.
Im addicted to their garlic beef
Best Chinese food in Oshawa.
Good food, I did takeout, got there 15 minutes before close they still cooked what I wanted. I Will go back again. 2 years later and I was just there, 10 minutes before closing I ordered 2 Chicken and Broccoli, they cooked it and as I waited another customer called in a order for pickup. Food is always piping hot, and delicious. Its my Favorite restaurant in Oshawa.
Will never order again, general Tao tasted like kfc fried chicken with gravy, rice was way over cooked and the Singapore rice noodles tasted gritty like they were cooked with 2 cups of sand mixed in it. Very disappointed given the great ratings skip the dishes provided. Should have stuck with Google because the reviews here mirror mine.
Food quality has started to vary nowadays. Ive found out that somedays food is freshly made but other days its refried or redone quick for takeouts. It wasnt like this before. Please keep up to the quality. We really like your food specially chicken corn soup and manchurian. Thanks for keeping halal option.
The worst Chinese Ive ever had in my life. I dont usually leave negative reviews, but steer clear of this place. My first bite of rice I felt sick after, and part of the egg rolls were still frozen, so I warmed it up in my microwave and then it tasted bad like it had been several days old, everything mushy inside. Do not recommend. My husband felt sick after eating this food as well.
Hot freash & affordable
Great local Chinese food and service!
This place is by far the best Chinese food in Durham. Everything is always very fresh, and their sauces are flavourful and taste homemade. We ve ordered from them for years now and the food is always consistently amazing. Also- it is reasonably priced, delivery is fast, and the people working there are very kind. We are a vegan family, and so when we order from a non-vegan place we sometimes have questions regarding ingredients and every time the people at Lucky Cho have been knowledgeable and let us know easily what is and is not vegan. They really are the best!
While service was fast and price reasonable The taste was not at all like Hakka Chinese The name like chilli chicken and chicken Manchurian are misleading
Everything was inedible! Just disgusting. The cantanese chow mein was so dry and crunchy it could not have been cooked at all and the birds could have used it in place of twigs for their nests. The chicken balls, fried wontons and egg rolls were fried in oil that tasted like it was at least 6 months old. The chicken fried rice was mushy and tasteless and the beef and broccoli was slimy and had a weird taste. Everything left a horrible aftertaste. We had to throw everything away. Completely inedible
Okay, so this was the absolute worst food my family has ever had. If you grew up in Toronto/Scarborough and you re used to flavour this is NOT the place for you. Every piece of chicken (if that s what we ate) was dipped in horrible batter and tasteless sorrowful sauce. The best part of this meal was throwing it out. Please do yourself a favour and stay far far away from this place. We paid $65 to be honest we should have just paid the gas and drove to a restaurant that knows what they are doing.
Yesterday at 5:10 pm I pick up two hakka chicken noodles. Sorry to say they provide me the bad noodles. So bad smell ,looks it not fresh. I threw all of them. I told them its for my kids not spicy but they gave the date over food ,may be they prepare before. Never ever go again.
Had 2 items for takeout today, Bombay Fish: They have no idea about indian taste. They have a dish called Bombay fish/Chicken/Shrimp/beef but it is just a deep fried item in which you can taste the recooked oil nothing else. There is no masala or spice in it. For the sake of spice, they had few cut green chillies and onions. They should remove the item from their Menu rather than misleading customers. Crab Soup: No Spice, very bland but the broth was thick , hence the 2 stars.
Ordered egg rolls, spring rolls (which were OK) but plumsauce was gross. Also ordered the general tao, which was overly spicy, couldnt enjoy it. They didnt send my lo mein, which had a very funky flavour. I had to call to report MISSING ITEM $60!!!!! FOUND 2 BIG CHUNKS OF CALAMARI OR SOME GROSS SEAFOOD, IN MY.LO MEIN!! EWWEW! Neverr again! I wouldnt give this to my dog! Let alone save leftovers
Had the Manchurian Fish. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
Salty food! ordered wonton soup, hardly any chicken in the wonton plus the soup was extremely salty, had no taste Mixed fried rice had no taste as well just salt
I wanted to cry so bad while eating this. The taste of the noodles was unappetizing, the shrimp tastes fishy and over cooked. The general tso chicken is disappointing. I wanted to eat my feelings today but this meal ate my soul instead.
by far the worst Chinese food Ive ever had. no flavor. do you guys not know what salt is? my sister just ordered for a party. 120$ its garbage. general chicken is flavorless and soggy beef n veggies same deal. no flavour. do you try your own food? soggy flavorless food. Id go to rice togo if I were you
Straight up worst Chinese food Ive ever had. Yikes
First and LAST time and if I can save any other customers the disrespect and disgusting treatment from the staff in this dive then my day would be made. As we were about to enjoy our meal something caught my eye as I turned to look I seen a gross cockroach crawling on the wall beside the table we were seated at. I attempted to communicate this with the staff, who are apparently the owners and they both looked at me like I have 5 heads. I was told I am a liar and I was probably only seeing things. We had only just began our meals so I had asked them to refund us as that issue is unhealthy and unhygienic and she stood there with her arms crossed and told me that my comments were bad for her business and told me I had to leave and I could take my food with me or not but I was not getting a refund at all. I continued to try and resolve this maturely and in an adult manner. Her husband then spoke up and accused me of bringing this cockroach into the restaurant with me and they both went to a table behind the cash register and started to eat and just ignored me. NEVER EVER WOULD I GO THERE AND NEVER WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS GROSS, DIRTY, BUG INFESTED DIVE THAT THESE PEOPLE CALL A RESTAURANT.
Worst food weve ever had
The food in this place was the absolute worst. I ordered the sesame chicken and fried rice. Both of these products were soggy and the chicken tasted like it was dipped in a horrible batter. I resulted feeling very ill after eating 5% of the plate! DISGUSTING.
The food speaks for itself. Great value, huge portions, vegan/vegetarian options, amazing flavours. Best Chinese restaurant in Oshawa. Food : 5/5
Not a bad place I love their noodles
Great pricing/portion sizes and consistently delicious!
They put more vegetables than chicken or meat on everything we ordered. We felt ripped off.
Love the traditional cooking. No MSG and nor Pork. Great friendly Family run.
We ordered Hakka Food from here. The chili chicken was very spicy, my husband and I enjoy spice and this was perfect. I suggest if you want heat get this dish. The chicken pakoras were really good but no spice to them. The oil tastes fresh. For east of Whitby this is a good Hakka Food place. Owner is very nice as well. Will for sure order again.
Place is just amazing. Best food.
Some depth of flavour would be good. Its just salt/soya sauce. Protein is sparse too. No chicken at all in the spring rolls as stated in their menu, there should be some. (2. Spring Rolls $2.50 It is a deep-fried and flavourful roll with shredded cabbage, carrots and chicken wrapped in a thin Spring Roll wrappers (2 pcs) ) This spring roll was flavourless unlike the description says there. Rice was mushy too. Just skip this place. You will be doing yourself a favour. 0 stars
Food very bland and lacked any flavor. Both the Bombay beef and chili chicken were mostly dough balls with a hint of cayenne pepper. Not recommended.
Worst Chinese we have had. The only good thing was spring rolls. The general tao chicken was in this brown sauce that is nothing like general Tao. It was super soggy. The crispy beef was fried beef jerky. The noodles tasted like pure salt. This was a waste!
Good food and friendly service. I will order from them again.
Best Chinese / Hakka Cuisine available in Durham Region Good size portions, great flavour, priced right, and done to perfection! Take out always punctual. Cant better value than this. Im a regular, and they know my preferences despite their large customer base.
Our Favorite Durham Hakka restaurant hands down
Had fish and veggies, both tasted good, veggies perfectly cooked!
Fast and friendly, great prices.
Fresh and full of flavour
Ordered last night for the first time. They forgot our spring rolls, the chicken wings were a soggy, slimy mess, the Cantonese chow mein was the most plain Ive ever had. And to top it off I spent the night awake with an awful stomach ache and acid reflux. Its almost noon the next day and I still dont feel great. Oh, and its my birthday. So I wont be back.
The worst I ve ever had.
Its nice that you can pick what you want in your family combos. They can also add some REAL zing if you request, otherwise it is a mild spice level.
Good food...well done cooking this...good quality chinese food can be hard to come by.
I would give them a zero if I could- The food is absolutely disgusting. We got rice, noodles, chicken and shrimp. We didn t get the food for free, we paid for it and it s not like you re donating to a food bank. The food was stale and nasty to eat. They can do so much better!
I ordered veg Manchurian pakora with gravy. The gravy was nice and spicy i loved it. But the manchurian balls were as hard as rock. I could not cut it even with a knife, it was that bad.
Absolutely delicious Hakka and Chinese food. Moving from Toronto to Courtice I was sad about leaving the variety of different take-out foods behind, but this place totally makes up for it. It s chilli chicken is amazing as well as their Bombay chicken. The Bombay chicken is so flavourful and very much like battered tandoori chicken. Their rices and noodle dishes are also amazing. Super fresh tasting and the portions are huge! The chicken wontons are also very tasty and I could easily eat the whole container they pack!!! My husband and I always love ordering from here. We also found that their delivery is super fast as well!! I highly recommend Lucky Cho for their Hakka and Chinese food!! Very delicious!
Love love the food. Super clean restaurant
To salty and whatever they do to their chicken.... its got an odd taste. I wont eat here again.
their crispy beef is fried heroine
Love their eggrolls
Horrible customer service got my food home and my noodles are rock hard like Im eating chips we call to complain and are told thats how they make it... never have I had my noodles be rock hard.... if you make it that way maybe note that on the menu I can not eat this so called food. Very disappointed wont be back
Rice was ok. Both chicken dishes had problems. One had barely any chicken, was all sauce and veggies. And the general tso was soggy, tasteless. Will not order again
Bad chicken fried rice, chicken was weirdly spongy and chewy and had little chicken or egg. General Tso chicken is wet breading surrounding little chicken, the sauce is all heat no flavor. Spring rolls are good.
Excellent food
This restaurant is the best. Family run and I have ordered many meals. My favourite though is the crispy beef and beef fried rice. Took awhile to find an excellent Chinese restaurant but now have found it willing to recommend to all.
Food made me and my wife sick. Chicken is slimy and tasted weird. If you dont mind the drive, there are better Hakka in ajax and Scarborough.
Always a go to restaurant! Quick service, and the food is always fresh when ordered
Always impressed with the quality of the food, and pricing is always affordable with the portion sizing
Do not recommend. Bought food here today (nov 18, 2021). Bought chilli potatoes, vegetable Manchurian pakora and Cantonese lo mein. Manchurian pakora was the worst, so dry, couldnt even break it with knife or chew it. Chilis potatoes, basically fries with oil and chilies poured over it were semi edible. Lo mein noodles were also horrible. The only thing we might have a enjoyed was the steamed rice thatce with the mains. I read the first few reviews that this place was really good and wanted to try it. Was horrible in my opinion. Dont be fooled by the reviews.
Ordered dinner for 3 and was told it would be 45 to 60 minutes for delivery, that seemed fair. I called the restaurant back after an hour and fifteen minutes to be told that it could be another 30 to 60 minutes. Thankfully I was going to be paying cash upon delivery, so I just cancelled. I wasnt waiting 2 hours for dinner to come.
My family dislike the food. The rice was very mushy we could not stomach it. The general Tao had no taste. We were very disappointed this the dinner. I would not recommend this to anyone. My dogs had a great meal though.
I have ordered form Lucky chow for.many years as they are the only Halal Chinese restaurant in Oshawa that I know of. Tonight I was deeply dissapointed. I ordered the crispy beef combo and a side order of chicken balls as usual. The crispy beef had large chunks of crystalized sugar throughout the dish, so much so that it was sickly sweet and the cunch of the sugar made it even worse. Two of three chiken balls that I tried were raw/ doughy in the middle. When I called the restaurant I spoke to to younger people ( sounded like teenagers) who basically didnt care and told me to take it up with Skip the dishes. I contacted skip and they only offered me a 50 percent credit on the beef dish only. I will never order form them again and the same goes for.skip.
I hate making negative reviews if its not necessary however I will not be ordering from this place again. The chicken balls were overcooked they were hard to bite into. The beef with broccoli barely had any broccoli. The chicken fried rice sadly was mushy and had black chunks in it like I got the bottom of the bin. The spring rolls were delicious however they were overly deep fried. For sending $40 you expect a little more.
Definitely do not recommend this place. I ordered it for dinner. I ended up getting food poisoning paid $60 just to get food
The General Tao Chicken was soggy and had too much fat on it, didn t really like the flavouring either. The chicken fried rice was okay. The people were nice and friendly.
Best beef with black bean sauce in Durham region.
My favourite Chinese restaurant to date. Prices are really good for the portions, and everything Ive tried has been great. My favourites so far are the Beef Fried Rice, Beef Hakka Chow Mein, and the Masala Chicken.
Wow is all I can say .I ordered general tao chicken like I always do from here . And every other time its been great . Today it was super soggy and there was next to no general tao sauce .... I called to complain which I never do because this is my girlfriend and my favourite Chinese place .. and I get told that I personally have to deliver it back to them so they can remake it for me . I ordered delivery ... The owner then proceeds to yell at me over the phone and then hangs up on me .. if you want to deal with a cheap stingy owner come here .. used to love this place but after today I will never come back
Food was pretty good for the price Im happy !
New in Oshawa and this is one of the first restaurants I decided to check out. The place is clearly family owned and it s a typical mom and pop style restaurant which means the food is close to home cooked. Their pakura or pakoora (sp) dishes are so good! Will be returning very soon.
Amazing food, great prices and incredible service! I love this restaurant, and highly recommend it.
Food was kind of bland
Way to oily and soggy. The chilli chicken was more fat in it then anything else. Waste of money.
So one small thing was we didnt get a any set and sour sauce with our 45$ order that included things that require it!! But in the upside our food was amazing everything was fresh and delicious!!! Like no idea how they make there shrimp so delicious!!! Very happy just wish I had some yummy red sauce to dip my egg rolls n spring rolls in!
The worst food Ive ever had.
Fantastic food every time. I try a new dish every time I order from them and have never been disappointed. The food is fresh and delicious and never greasy or overdone
EDIT: We have not had another bad incident since the time mentioned below and I hope we never do Use to order from here all the time and it was our favourite. Ordered from here tonight and am SO DISAPPOINTED!! Our Almond soo Gai was rock hard. Our general tao was soggy yet had next to no sauce. We never would of called to complain if we really didnt need too. We called to let them know and they told us we didnt order extra sauce. Why would we? We didnt want extra we just wanted the normal amount. They asked what we wanted them to do about it. We asked for either a replacement of those effected items or a refund, they refused. They said since we took a bite they wouldnt.. well of course we took a bite how else would we know how it tasted? The lady there yelled at us and told us that we could return it ourselves if we wanted it replaced.. we ordered delivery! Why would I bring it back to the store?? I told them we spent $40 so we kind of expected our moneys worth.. he proceeds to tell me actually it was $34.57.. Like really? Was $40 after we tipped. Then they hung up on us. Extremely bad business! We will be finding a new Chinese restaurant.
Favorite Hakka style Chinese restaurant in Durham region. Small location putting out great food and friendly service. Consistent satisfaction every time!
It was a good experience, friendly staff , greeted warmly , food was great.
FOLKS PLEASE MAKE SURE , the price on the MENU and the amount they charge is accurate. There is this young Guy, always over charge you. I caught him 3 times already. Food price is cheaper but I think they try to trick you by over charging. I went and told this kid face to face. He is cheating on the price
Really enjoyed their plates, especially the crispy beef, general tao and spicy chilli chicken.
Love Lucky Cho! In Oshawa and Courtice area, no one touches this place. Always friendly service, always awesome food.
Great tasty food good size portions
I have had quite a bit of Hakka Chinese food in very many different places. I can actually say that I was quite impressed with this little cozy joint. It looked like a family owned place with very simple decor which isnt a big deal when doing take out. I always ask for the highest level of spice for almost all my dishes and I was amazed that they were able to get my dishes to that level. Their steam rice was cooked PERFECTLY, nice and fluffy! I ordered Chili Chicken with sauce on side because my inlaws arent too fond of spicy food and honestly... it wasnt the best Chili chicken Ive had but it was good. So, Lucky Cho isnt too shabby and the service was amazing. Extremely friendly people and I would definitely order again if we ever do decide to do Hakka again for a late night dinner. P.S. spring rolls were a little bit soggy and oily so I wouldnt recommend them if you are a spring roll fanatic. :/
I will never make the mistake of ordering delivery again. After pre placing my order 3 hours in advance to be delivered at a certain time for my partner and it and it was still late. I recieved a call asking me if I would accept my order a half an hour later then hat I requested. I let them know that didnt work for us. Instead it showed up a half hour later then requested sitting on my back deck not packed in a heated protected bag of any sort. Other than a white plastic thin lunch style biggie in freezing cold weather from a delivery woman with a coat covered in dirt asking me to come in my house to get warm. With her she had a mess shopping bag carrying the rest of my order... Un acceptable.. Shape up.
Watered down and bland
Best Chinese in Oshawa
ordered through skip great service and customer interaction
Ordered our food through Skip the Dishes. At first food looked good and then we soon realized that everything had the same flavour-salty. The sauce for the chicken balls wasnt bright pink but more a darkened pink as if it had been reheated over and over. The crispy beef was black and totally flavorless. Such a disappointment!
The food here is less expensive, but, of lesser quality, for certain. Beware the washrooms in the basement...doesnt seem to have been cleaned in some time. There was no soap in the hand soap dispenser.. General Tso chicken..I have had this dish at many restaurants throughout my life.. The colouration is red...except here, where it is a gravy beige.. The chicken fried rice must be premade. Very salty, like dollar store soup packet additives.. At any rate, you will need your luck at, Lucky Chos..
The food was very good and the price was right. 14.00 for vegetables chowming 2 chicken legs and 4 egg rolls
One of the simplest yet authentic Hakka taste you can find in Oakville with great customer service that will make remind you of home. Its a small family owned business that gives out really good vibes and tasty food for an affordable price that will not break your bank. I would definately recommend this place for anyone looking to try out some Hakka
My new addiction is their crispy beef. All of the food is great.
Yummy and Delicious...Vey good Service.
Best food Ive ever had
Just moved to the city. Very delicious food.
This is one of the Hakka gems in Oshawa. Conviniently located on King street with street parking. The food is always good and great service. I believe its a family run business with all hands on deck. Quiet and peaceful location.
Great cordial service with good food.
Amazing food. They have halal as well. I will highly recommend! For sitting in and eating, it is always empty. But for takeout its alot busier but their timing for delivery and for pickup is great. Nice service! I love the teletoon channel they had. :)
Great taste
Everything was fantastic except for the American fried chop suey. Crispy noodles but not like you d expect. Literally so hard it s not even edible. You could say it s like dehydrated ramen you d buy for 50c. The sauce was way too sweet it was inedible. This one dish completely ruined my experience, would never go back.
Wonderful taste ,soup and garlic chicken was amazing serving lady is so sweet amazing service
Worst hakka food I have ever had. Our chicken corn soup tasted like they had put sugar instead of salt. We ordered chili chicken with gravy, it came dry. The worst of it was the service. We called to let them know there were some concerns with the order, and the response we got was..well thats the way we make it. No apologies, and we were super nice. So..I will never order from here again.
Worse hakka food. Honestly, the egg fried rice had such a strong smell I couldnt eat it after bringing it home. The chilli chicken wasnt as I expected. Its like fake version of hakka food. Wouldnt order from here again.
Food was mediocre. Very greasey and the sauce was cold. Very little vegetables. Wouldnt recommend. Will be last order. Waste of money.
run by family...we people should help to these type of restaurant by going there as a customers
Chinese Hakka restaurant... Not a very rushy restaurant but good in tastes...situated on a main king street oshawa... Parking is also paid in front of this restaurant
The best halal Chinese restaurant ever. Very reasonable prices and big food portions. The lady at the counter is super nice and friendly. Definitely recommend.
I just ordered food from Lucky Cho for the first and last time today. For a value of almost $50, the portions were decent, but the quality of the food was subpar. In fact, it was so bad that I feel that I must go through the list of items and describe the experience of eating them individually. 1) General Tso s Chicken. I should ve known that this dish wouldn t be spicy (or have any kind of sour and sour taste) when I was not asked whether I would like it spicy or mild. This chicken tasted more like it was simmered in gravy that would be better suited for a Thanksgiving feast. 2) Fried Shrimp Wonton. These crusty little crab Rangoon-like morsels seriously lacked any shrimp and they were hard. My mother and I had to rip the extra crusty, hard batter that seemed to be guarding the miniscule amount of meat just to bit into the center and be met with utter disappointment due to a lack of flavor. 3) Shrimp Lo Mein. Why did they even call this dish Shrimp Lo Mein? It should be called Vegetables with a hint of Noodles and Shrimp. And then when you finally find some noodles or shrimp, your taste buds tell you that the chef didn t care enough to season this dish either! On top of that, the noodles had a grainy texture that really took the dish from a solid 0 to a -3! 4) Shrimp fried rice. Probably the least disappointing of the dishes I had, but it s still worth noting. As with the other dishes, the rice was bland without the soy sauce that I added. After I added my soy sauce, the rice wasn t so bad but decent fried rice usually has a taste prior to any additions. I ve definitely had better shrimp fried rice at other restaurants, so I ll just be going to those spots from now. Overall, I feel very unlucky to have encountered Lucky Cho. I won t even try the spring rolls or the wonton soup that I ordered. Even though it may seem like a waste of money, I feel that the best I can get out of this food is material to throw into the compost bin.
Horrible Chinese food don t waste your money
I have only ever eaten at maybe 15-20 Chinese restaurants but I must say that this place is the best by far out of all of them!
For Indian style hakka Chinese this is the best place in Oshawa. I love their shrimp pakora.
Great food and good price
