Error - there is no restaurant or bar here called Upper Keg. And definitely not The Keg Restaurant we all know.

Highly recommend the butter chicken rice bowl and jambalaya fettucini. I ll be back!

The atmosphere here is very cozy and welcoming! My server Karen went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with my order as they happened to be out of sweet potato fries Will definitely introduce this new gem to my fellow friends!:)

6 of us went in for dinner the other night. Every one enjoyed the food. The only complaint I heard was the portions are to big. Would recommend.

We were greeted immediately. The server remembered us from 6 months ago. She made a recommendation which was excellent. A roast turkey sandwich. Food was hot and delicious and I could not eat everything I saw someone enjoying their butter chicken with Naan bread. I will get that next time Vegetarian options: Sandwiches wraps, peroghies Dietary restrictions: The menu is extensive. Anyone could eat here

Smaller place and not so noisy. Good portions and food is delicious. Had the jambalaya, perfect spice. Service is friendly...you will not be disappointed.

We had the worst experience at the Upper Keg Restaurant. Our poor server was running around trying to take orders and deal with frustrated patrons who were waiting well over an hour for a simple burger. We ordered two hamburgers and a poutine, but ended up leaving after an hour and a half. There was a steady stream of Skip/Uber Eats drivers coming in and out the entire time. We are usually super patient people and the server was lovely, but after and hour and a half, we were done. We paid for our drinks and left. The owner seemed more invested in the Skip the Dishes then the actual customers at the restaurant. He also let his poor server take the brunt of Customers frustrations instead of dealing with customers himself

They dont listen to requests but they have great frys and great music so its worth it

First time trying Upper Keg after reading all the great reviews. Was not disappointed. Got take out and was really great to bring it home still hot and it was delicious. Portions are above average. The staff when I entered were very welcoming and the place has a cozy atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.

Saw lots of great reviews so we decided to give this place a try! Service was great and our server was lovely and very friendly. Boyfriend got a burger which he enjoyed and I had a wrap and fries. Fries are delicious!! Wrap was large and full of chicken ( not all lettuce and fillers like some places) only reason I gave a 4 star is due to the fact I ordered a cocktail and im convinced there was no alcohol in it just mix. Other than that everything was great and we will return (just wont order any fancy drink) i do recommend giving this hidden gem a try!

One of our favourite spots. The staff are all friendly and the server Teepa always treats us special. One of the overhead TV stations is tuned into the fireplace channel which makes the whole area feel very homey. Although everything we ve ordered has been great, our favourite items are Meat Eater Poutine and Chicken Parm. Best wishes for a successful future. The community is lucky to have you. Today was the second time my husband and I had lunch and did not disappoint us. All delicious, especially their hamburgers.

Was recently there for a family celebration. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Very nice atmosphere. The food is delicious with large portions . I had the bruschetta and chicken fettuccine . I highly recommend this restaurant.

I was at the Upper Keg last night and I had never heard of this restaurant. I checked out the menu ahead of time and I was very impressed. The restaurant was smaller than I expected but that was okay. It gave it a more intimate vibe. The waitress was so cute and sweet and very personable. She was the highlight of the restaurant. She was trying so hard to do the best she could under the circumstances. Most of our dinner party were ordering meals with rice. The waitress had to inform us that they had supply issues and didnt have rice. Any dish with rice accompanying it, they couldnt serve to us. Fine, we chose other meals. It took an inordinate amount of time to prepare and bring the food to the table. We knew that there was a problem in the kitchen for sure. We were okay with it since we were there to celebrate a birthday and to catch up with each other. If we were in a hurry, we would have had to leave with only having our drinks. Most of the food arrived as tiny portions. Like kid-size portions. The prices were very reasonable and matched the portion size. Low prices, small portions. My fish was very dark (over done) but the taste was good and I didnt want to say anything because of the time. The coleslaw was homemade and I enjoyed that. The waitress brought out a complimentary dessert for the birthday girl which was a lovely gesture. Would I go back? Maybe...one more chance? The potential is there...I think...I hope.

I play a little game with my husband, we go to a new restaurant a week, always something we would never go to. This week we chose the Upper Keg Restaurant and Bar. At first glance you see lots of plants in the windows, a cozy and warm atmosphere with likely new furniture, a small bar with beer rail and L shaped seating around the bar. My initial though was wow this is nicer than I expected (we all know this spot has a turnover rate for restaurants). Excited to see a menu, the manager invited us to sit, we chose the bar seating. We were eventually given a menu to which we were informed of everything we could not have (over half the menu was unavailable). We ordered two burgers to go and were left alone at the bar for about 10 minutes, never offered a drink, still had not paid for the food. During this 10 minutes multiple other guests had walked in and promptly back out seeing no server or bartender. Another 5 minutes and another guest came in for a quick drink who had to knock on the kitchen door after waiting another 5 minutes for some service. overall we waited over 20 minutes for 2 burgers with no one behind the bar or in the front at all. When we finally spoke to someone again we had to ask for a cocktail menu which again we were informed (5 more minutes later) was out of date and not in use. This menu had at least 6-8 typos and no personality. finally on to the food thank you for getting this far. When we had asked both the server AND manager for no onions of any kind on the burger, guess what we found on the burger? Onions! The pattys were obviously not fresh, tough and dry. You could say the same about the buns they came on. Our takeout caesar salad was pre tossed in dressing so it was soggy when we got home. Rookie mistake after rookie mistake. We ended the visit promised a new cocktail menu in 2 weeks following our visit. We will be back and it will be a final chance for me to change this review. Good luck.

So they have a bar full of taps, but none currently working. Under new management trying hard, friendly, but over an hour to get a wrap and burger, yikes . It was not even busy. We will not be back.

I was in Oshawa on a weeknight & wanted to visit a local bar. I found the Upper Keg Restaurant online & noticed they had a great variety of options on their menu. Upon entering I noticed how clean and well kept it was. I was greeted by a waitress who was very friendly & accommodating during my visit. I had a starter of nachos & followed it up with a chicken & pasta dish. Both were truly generous portions, fresh & delicious. If youre looking for a truly solid resto/bar in Oshawa, this a place you dont want to miss!

Waitress was polite that is what the one star is for. Food almost inedible. Fish burnt. Wrap made with soggy lettuce yuck. Best was we asked for a burger for our daughter with nothing on it and at first it came out with what looked like mayo on it. Then came out second time with just a bun no meat. Third time it was correctly sent out. Skip this place at all costs. Half the menu items are not available. No beer on tap and not informed till can brought out.Overall just weird experience.

One of the worst foods I ever ate in a restaurant. The salmon was so over cooked that is tasted like dry chicken breast. The vegetables wasnt even cooked properly and had so much black pepper, that is all I tasted burning my tongue. The waitress was nice and tried to fix the vegetables but it was beyond fixing. Waste of $19.

Dont even bother. Theyll mess everything up and blame it on new management.

The place has got a new menu, awsome variety of ribs and wings and new delicious sandwiches as well, the menu is short and concise to help me choose what exactly i would want.

We havent been to the Upper Leg since last November, and we heard that it had a change of management. So we thought we would check it out again. My wife had the Chef Burger and I had the Buffalo Chicken Burger. The food was so-so and the menu is very pared down from before. The owner ( who was also our server) was very friendly and invited honest feedback (positive and negative), which we gave him. He was receptive to and appreciated our suggestions. We will go back and try this place again. Im curious about the ribs and wings.

*** UPDATE MAY 2023 *** Wow, the new menu is basically sandwiches, soup, and burgers. Thats it. All of the good dinners are gone :( Sad to see. Portion size = amazing! I got a take away and had more than enough for left overs the next day. Perfect! Super tasty and quality ingredients, I ve definitely found my new favourite restaurant!

Good example of people thinking they have a shortcut to wealth by buying a business with no clue how to run a business. Ruined a perfectly good thing too. Checked back after the new menu- prices way up for simple food that Im sure is not like it used to be. I used to like ordering ahead and coming in for a pint while waiting on pickup. -Used to have beer on tap, before not offering it I got it a few times and it was hardly palatable. -They should take themselves off Uber Eats since they either dont acknowledge the order or dont have most of whats listed.. tried to order multiple times but had to cancel because most of it was out of stock items -Online ordering on the website disabled as well -Food quality down the tubes.

Food is always amazing. Waitresses are horrible and can t even understand a simple question . I asked for a lemon she brought a lime, then I asked for a lemon wedge she brought me a whole cut up Lemon. Too bad bc food was excellent and same with manager

Absolutely Delicious Food! We ordered in tonight and will be ordering again very soon to try more items on the menu. We tried the fish and chips and the jambalaya pasta. (Was very hard to choose... There are so many things that sound delicious) Hands down the best meal we have had from a restaurant in a long while. I would 100 percent recommend trying them out if you havent already.

Went to Upper Keg tonight in North Oshawa. Food, atmosphere, prices were great. Ordered steak,mash potatoes, veggies. Friend ordered a pasta dish, also great. Staff was friendly great service, place was clean, and they gave us free cheesecake for dessert, yummy! I will definitely be back.

Feb 11 had afternoon lunch /supper the food was amazing and the server Karen was excellent the cost was veryow for the quality of food and the food was great .

The food was amazing, we had pan-fried Salmon and penne rose pasta, and they gave us a couple of cheesecakes as a gift since my wife is expecting. The prices are reasonable, our bill came to $30, Everything was beyond expectations, the food was delicious, service was outstanding and caring, and for sure we are coming back.

What a hidden gem!!!! The atmosphere is lovely. And the food was INCREDIBLE!!!! We had chili chicken bites, butter chicken and the 10oz steak dinner. Everything was so fabulous we walked out completely stuffed with tons of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Portions were HUGE!!!! Thank you to the owner, chef and server for the personal attention. We will definitely be back!!!!

This is a hidden gem. We went here for dinner last night and our minds were blown. The quantity was humongous and the quality was top notch. The lady who serviced us was so much fun and super friendly. Also, as we were finishing our meal the chefs came out as a nice gesture and asked how we liked the food. To top it off we were served complimentary cheesecake. Well go here quite frequently to try the other lip smacking items they have on their menu. A must visit for everyone.

My Wife and I went to the Upper Keg restaurant and we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The waitress Kat was very pleasant and friendly.The portion size was very good. We are making plans to go back real soon.

Ordered tonight for take out for my fiance and I. We both got a burger combo with fries, drinks, etc. I was so pleasantly surprised by their customer service. We had a small issue with our order because of allergy and the manager drove us a complete new order himself. It was still piping hot when he got here and we are so grateful for the extra trip as we originally ordered through skip the dishes. Also got a free slice of cheesecake for spending over $25. Food was delicious. Would recommend and will return.

I had a wonderful visit for dinner. The food was spectacular and the staff were welcoming and very friendly with a sense what I would consider a great sense of humour! We enjoyed every moment and will definitely be back soon! Especially once comedy and live music return!!

Wow! What a hidden gem! My family and I (party of 9) went here tonight to celebrate my mothers birthday and we all were very impressed. The menu is HUGE!!! They have something that everyone would like. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions are massive and the prices are very reasonable. They even gave my mother a complimentary slice of cheesecake as they sang Happy Birthday to her. Our server was top notch! She was very friendly and professional. We couldnt have asked for better service. All in all it was an excellent experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great meal and doesnt want to spend an arm and a leg doing so. I will definitely come back.

Some pros some cons. Really tasty food with great portions, but a small narrow place with maybe not enough staff (i.e. a bit of a long wait time) Very friendly though! Seems to be frequented by chatty older adults.

We ordered takeout this evening by ordering online through their website. The chicken on the chicken souvlaki was so tough and came with white rice (no seasoning or vegetables like we had before). It was grilled chicken with white rice, definitely not souvlaki. The pot pie was cold in the centre and had no gravy inside - it was dry and the vegetables were so hard. I tried calling the restaurant 3 times and could not get through. They also mention on their website that if order of $25, they also provide a complimentary slice of cheesecake, which was not included. Overall, very disappointed and a wasted dinner.

Finally tries this place after weeks of hearing about the hype and it was actually really lovely! The portions are large, the prices are low, and the service is super friendly. The bar is definitely quite no frills but its relaxing and a smaller place so never too loud. Weve already been twice and will for sure be back!

Finally tried the Upper Keg tonight after seeing so many great reviews. This place did not disappoint. The food was very good, coupled with their more than fair pricing. It should be a no brainer. What I would like to commend more than the great food and pricing is the service from our amazing waitress to the owner. We had quite an unruly customer who had one too many drinks. Our waitress was very polite and cut him off accordingly. He got very unruly and the staff did and amazing job handling the situation. They also offered us a free menu item for us to try for the hassle of having to witness what transpired. It was not necessary but a welcome offering. You should try this place not only for the amazing food but the great care they put into each customer.

4 months ago this was my review - Love Upper Keg! Their fettucine is delicious! Ordered tonight not so much. Dinner was terrible. I ordered at 3:30 for pickup at 5. Everything was cold and the fettucine was like a block of cement. Ordered the Big EZ and got a Philly Cheese instead. Not sure what has happened since I was last there 2but definitely have gone downhill. Im not typically a whiner but it was definitely too much today.

Went in for the first time tonight, not very busy. We ordered and after 55 minutes of waiting for food our waitress advised us that the kitchen didnt receive our food order. I proceeded to head towards the door and she did apologize and told us to come back and try them again another time.

Ordered the Seafood spaghetti the menu said it was a white wine sauce but actually tasted like a curry sauce. Totally lacking in seafood and didn t say vegetables were included but they seemed to take the place of the seafood. Very disappointed, will not be going back.

The food. Shockingly good! Wasnt expecting too much. I got a bar vibe and thats it but they serve a full food menu! Perogies were great! Really appreciated the size because whats advertised on the menu as 8 perogies just doesnt sound like enough. The waitress was lovely, very personable. Everything we ordered I was very happy with.

I ve been here a few times and every time the food is fantastic! The service is always great, I would 100% recommend to everyone as they have so many different options and the Upper Keg has easily some of the best food I have ever had!

I wanted to like this place as its so close to my home...When they first opened I ate there with my brother his fish was rubbery and so hard to cut through ( clearly frozen and not fresh ) All I ordered was jalapeno poppers, they were not terrible but not good either as they were bland .... Tonight I ordered dinner for my 10 year old son and I, my son got the Philly cheese steak and bacon pierogies I asked them if they could add cheese and I would be willing to pay extra but they didnt also I ordered the chicken parmesan it was extremely Bland and the chicken had hard parts in it .... wont be back ...

My boyfriend and I have been here a few times - one for each meal of the day - and have loved it each time. Server was friendly and prompt with our orders and answered any questions we had. The food was delicious (which isn t an easy thing for restaurants to master for all the meals). They also have both Coke and Pepsi products, which is rare and a nice change. Overall, great food, welcoming atmosphere, and friendly service. Would highly recommend. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. Parking: Lots of parking spots available.

We had a reservation at One Eyed Jacks this evening for 18 people. They screwed up and were unable to accommodate us. My sister called The Upper Keg and asked if they could accommodate 16 of us for my parents 51st wedding anniversary and the girl said come on in we have room. They were so accommodating and we had amazing service, especially on very short notice. The staff were awesome and the food was amazing we already asked if we could book our party for next year!lol thank you so much for accommodating us you guys are amazing!!!!

One of the best Restro-Bar in Oshawa. The bartender is having some amazing skills and top-notch customer service. Covid protocols are being obeyed by the staff and very friendly behaviour. Highly recommended.

I REALLY ENJOYED THEIR HALIBUT AND KETTLE CHIPS AND AS WELL AS CHICKEN BACON CLUB SANDWICH THE GRAVY IS AMAZING AS WELL AS THE COLESLAW AND TARTAR SAUCE TOO. EVERYTHING MADE FRESH BY THE OWNER. A cozy and warm atmosphere full of fun, entertainment, and cheer. The patio has heating as you look on from the corner of a shopping lot. Accoustics sounding large and clear for any band blessed to play here. It has been newly renovated for its grand opening, and even the bathrooms are prestine by comparison to other bars ventured. The food is served very fresh, cooked pub style to perfection and your whim, because here they are very willing to accommodate personal taste, and prompt. Recurring customers are welcome and remembered, the staff are professional, polite, and the prices are very bargain- under ten dollars and right choices, you may easily walk out of this place full, and content with portion size matching cost at a more than reasonable request for value, simply said, its worth it. The music and comedic entertainment are young and new professional locals, yet appealing to an older generation, as all ages are welcome to dine. Culture meets culture here with a humble bargain that brings true joy.

The most slept on restaurant in Oshawa Had a ridiculously huge chicken sandwich that was amazing 5 stars not pricey either.

Have been in at least 6 times for breakfast and have loved the omelets.... Finally decided to go for dinner and again was not disappointed. I had the burger, my wife had the Mediterranean wrap, my son had the Shaker Sandwich (steak) and his girlfriend had the chicken fingers. All scratch made and all delicious. Whatever seasoning they use for their fries is so good. Real freshly cooked bacon in the Caesar salad. Fair price, amazing food and friendly service. Lets show them some love....

This was the best pancakes Ive ever had. If youre ever in Oshawa, you must stop by to eat here. Worth the commute. The food has so much flavour and their smoothies are incredible. You can truly taste how fresh it was made. The chefs/owners are so friendly and humble. You can see all the passion they put into all of their meals. Keep up the fantastic work guys! Definitely coming back for more!

This first review (below) was 9 months ago and since then I have recommended Grace Kitchen to many friends. I have had nothing but good reviews from those friends who ate there. Now in the midst of Covid19 I need to add that the take out food is equally great. If you have not ordered take out from Grace Kitchen please consider it! They need and deserve the business! Oshawa is fortunate to have this gem of a restaurant. We think this is a real find, a place you can brag about discovering. Excellent menu, and everything we have tried has been not just good but superb. For example, the Butter Chicken Rice Bowl is as good as it gets. Meals prepared by a chef - not a fast order cook and taste the difference! We agree wholeheartedly with the other very positive reviews!

SEE EDIT BELOW - I dont typically leave reviews, but I feel obligated in this case as I rely heavily on them myself when I choose where to eat and the reviews are what led to me discovering this restaurant. Ive been to Grace Kitchen several times in the last couple months and Ive tried about half a dozen different meals. I havent been disappointed yet. The service and food are both excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. Id highly recommend the butter chicken as well as the jambalaya as they are some of the best flavoured dishes Ive ever had in my life. The menu items are similar to that of a lot of generic restaurants, but the quality of the food is exceptional and it is all made fresh which is what makes the difference between this restaurant and the typical chain restaurants. Make sure you try Grace Kitchen! EDIT - After several visits to Grace Kitchen, I returned again last night expecting the same delicious food that I always get. Unfortunately there are new guys working at the restaurant (supposedly temporarily). What was once a fantastic restaurant is now just another average place not worthy of a second visit, at least for the time being. The butter chicken was nothing like it was with the previous chefs and it was half the regular portion size, the burger was frozen, and the fries were inconsistent. Everything was previously fresh and now these new guys are cutting corners and ruining the restaurant s reputation. I will not be returning unless I find out the original chefs have returned. Very disappointing.

Same Name, different restraunt. New management, so everything is more expensive and the quality of food has gotten worse. Its sad to see what was once an amazing restraunt look like it is today. Lost a long time customer today.

good food delivered by Uber eats however Ive noticed the pricing is a bit off... for instance you can get a steak for $6 but a tiny Slice of factory made cheesecake costs $8... Weird. One other small thing was using sticky tape to wrap the napkins around the cutlery just meant the napkin got torn to shreds... Otherwise very tasty.

What a small Gem in the north end of Oshawa. The service, food and prices were all exceptional. We have been trying to support local businesses during COVID and this is one that I urge you to try out. Raj the owner and his team served us an excellent dinner after reading all the positive reviews. We will be returning again and letting anyone we talk to know about it.

Took my daughter here for dinner and I was so happy with the service, smiles and the food was amazing! This Independant restaurant is who we should be supporting right now. I ll be back and will Also be ordering online with them.

The service was really outstanding and the people who work there were very nice. The food was okay but all I had was the penne which is pretty basic. The one thing that really threw me off is the lack of COVID precautions. Only one worker was wearing a mask and the cooks were not wearing them. They were so nice that I couldnt bring myself to leave even though I probably should have. Seems like no one in the area is taking mask-wearing seriously either as other guests were walking around without them. Maybe when this pandemic is over Ill visit again but until then wont be because of the lack of precautions.

Wow. Stopped into this little restaurant to be greeted by a very welcoming staff, and cook!. The food was amazing something I would expect in a 7 star resort. I had the chicken penne pasta and honestly was blown away by the quality and care that went into the food....and the flavor blew my mind. My wife had the buffalo chicken wrap and home cut fries that were crispy and the wrap was full of flavor.......I will now be making this my new spot. A big thank you to the staff and chef of Grace kitchen for making my first of many experiences a spectacular one!!!!!

Just tried this place for the first time and it was amazing!! Staff is so friendly and the cooks are also welcoming (as they have an open face kitchen). Food was delicious! I got their special omelet with hashbrowns and bacon and it did not disappoint. Their breakfast potatoes are cut fresh in house and cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back!

Went for our first time. Food was amazingly fresh and light and we had the Halibut and fries. The batter was fluffy and delicious. Fresh Cole slaw and tartar sauce. Very very reasonably priced. We will definitely be going back and recommending to our friends

A hidden gem. This was my first time here, never knew it existed. I came to use the ATM before going to breakfast elsewhere and was impressed. The decor is fresh, clean, minimalistic, good coffee, very attentive owners and waitress. Im doing the paleo diet and asked them to hold the home fries and toast and they substituted for mushrooms, peppers and a half fried tomato . The steak and eggs were totally on point, cooked to perfection. A fair portion of fresh fruit was squeezed onto the plate to round out this inexpensive brekky. Ill definitely be coming back here again.

Just stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. Ordered the chicken sandwich with fries. Warning: this sandwich could feed a small family! 2 pieces of chicken, tomato, bacon, cheese, lettuce, coleslaw - all between a bun! My partner had their burger - just about as big! Food was great, looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes.

We ll be back to eat again. My wife and I both ordered the philly cheese steak and we both thought it was delicious. Our daughter ordered the Mac & cheese and my wife and I tried it as well, and we all thought it was also delicious. Price wasn t bad, friendly and respectful service. Next time I may try the butter chicken.
