It was my first time here today and I can say I am happy with everything and I will be returning. I recommend seafood lovers to check out this place. We got the daily special today, cod and fries. I have to say I was impressed with the portion. The service was great and the environment was welcoming.

This place is just okay. They are all the same. For some reason, they give you big square peices of fish that dont even look like actual fish. Love the fries and gravy, though.

Halibut has a lite fluffy batter and not too greasy! Chips are good but every time I order the garden salad, it is so refreshing! This location seems better then others.

First time at this particular location. Good food & service, all good.

Were frequent regulars at the oshawa location, and we stopped in tonight for dinner and the waitress on shift tall, shorrt brown hair, glasses around 645 pm unsure of her name but came to take our order. I ordered 2 piece fish and chips and the waitress responded are you really going to eat all of that? And I responded yes, if not I take it home. And she had responded shocked. Just for the price was a better deal to order the meal than just fish and coleslaw. But what kind of waitress asks that? Made me very uncomfortable and honestly quite upset. I really like this place however with staff like that Ill reconsider my decision.

We are frequent patrons of this restaurant and consistently order the same items. However, during our most recent visit, we encountered an unpleasant situation with a new server who questioned my partners dietary preferences. This incident left both of us feeling quite dissatisfied. Furthermore, the quality of the food was subpar. It arrived soggy and wet, the fries were cold, and the coleslaw was bland. The tartar sauce was also watery. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially considering the high cost of $86. Regrettably, both of us have been feeling unwell since our visit, and we are uncertain if it is related to the food we consumed.

Halibut house has the best salmon I ever tasted . My granddaughter just loves the haddock and fries its our favorite place to eat in Oshawa on Bloor Street

First time going to this location (for breakfast) and may turn into our local spot for daily breakfast! The daily special (1 egg, choice of meat, toast and potatoes) is very generous on portion size. Same goes for their Grand Slam Combo (3 eggs, all meat). Eggs benedict was also ordered and was impressively delicious. Highly recommended, great value!

The portion size is smaller than before, but the taste level has not dropped.

One of the most underrated places to go to for breakfast. Their portions and price make it an easy fit for me. Servers were friendly. If your going for fish and chips always order the halibut, the extra price is always worth it.

Wish I could give 0 stars! Received a coupon for buy 1 halibut lunch get another for half price so decided to take my dad there and give it a try. When we presented the coupon the waitress said it was a misprint and instead of $13.95 it was actually $14.95. We let that slide, and then we were told we couldnt upgrade the fries to a salad for $2 as stated on the menu because it doesnt apply when you use a coupon! Lol, ok whatever! Anyway turns out their halibut was most certainly not halibut! It was terrible but we decided to just bite the bullet and eat the meal and get out of there without making a scene. I had several indicators to just leave before we ordered so will chalk this one up to lesson learned. My advice is to save your money and get a filet o fish instead, at least you know what youre getting and how much youll be paying. The owner of this restaurant should be embarrassed!

The breakfast here is pretty good especially if you get the garlic potatoes. Which people dont know about. I think they changed their bacon though :(. Very thin. Still good. Fish n chips here is always good :). Place is clean and the staff are great.

Hands down the best breakfast in the area. The eggs are always fresh and cooked to perfection exactly as requested; the piping hot potatoes crispy on the outside and soft inside, the sausage rich and juicy. The welcome is warm and the service outstanding; I felt like a regular from my second visit on.

The most wonderful waitress, Carrie, did me a huge favor & delivered my food to me at home. I had an accident & currently cannot walk on my own. Carrie went above & beyond and offered to bring me my lunch after her shift. She is such a sweetheart. This world needs more people like her, someone who truly cares about the customers. Great job

The Halibut House is amongst my favorite stops. They always provide me with the greeters welcome. They do that for everyone. No matter how many people are in there they always provide exceptional customer service. The only knock on these chains is you have to come a certain day to receive certain types of specials. Unless youre order the Senior Special. Thats every day. Their breakfast are done well. Prices are good for Breakfast. The fish can be pricey depends on how much youre ordering. The more you buy the more costs are tied into it. A saving there would be really good.

Atmosphere is a bit old taverns country style. But the customer service is great and the food is served fresh been there at least three times while I venture in Oshawa and havent been dissapointed in the taste of the food. I just wished the Cesar salad portion was larger along with the Haddock or sole but overall its good spot. they have good breakfast deals which Im unable to enjoy due to timing but one day I hope to try it out.

Horrific ! My husband went in and ordered 2 - 2pc Halibut and chips for take out and gave them a generous tip ! Get it home - not what we ordered - got 2 - 1pc fish and chips . The fish is definitely not halibut - it was a pressed flat square! Called them about correcting our order and got told we could SAVE the other ones for another time ! What ! How does that work ! That doesn t feed my family of four NOW ! Sorry- it was good before Covid but now .. won t bother wasting my time .

Also open for dine-in. Went to the only other Halibut House for dine-in so didnt want to order same thing. Weird that McD in neighbourhood isnt even open for walk in service, let alone dining in, but these two independently owned and operated places are (area left lockdown week or so ago as of this visit). Remember to support your local businesses! Ordered dish that was removed from menu but they could still make it! (not telling :-) and that gets them the fifth star! I usually only give 4 because there is always room for improvement but these guys went out of their way to make money today.

First time in awhile we ve been able to dine in and it was great. We were wanting something different and had a craving for fish and chips. We both had the seafood platter, which has a piece of haddock, 3 shrimp, 3 scallops and fries. I substituted onion rings for $2 more. Fish was perfect, nice light batter. Great service. Ordered halibut for the three of us. Spending 100 bucks to get home and find raw potatoes and under cooked fish. Had to re cook the fish and fries...brought my sons food back and was told what do you want me to do about it....every time there is something wrong with the food people bring it back....that is what the owner said. And my reply was ok so others bring food back...and the owner said nope never your the first. I will never come back.

We were thrilled to finally find a place that served real fries and the fish was lovely, lightly battered perfectly, yummy will be going back here soon. Weve always wanted to get into the Halibut House and we traveled to Oshawa for the weekend and we are not disappointed. Fantastic food, great service very friendly. We had lunch but going back for supper. Well have to try the one in Kingston when we get home.

Pretty disappointing. Our regular fish and chip place was closed and decided to try here. It was very greasy, and bland tasting. We got the 2 halibut 1 chip take out, and I am 100% positive this is not halibut. It doesn t taste right, and furthermore it looks like strips of white fish flattened together. Will not be returning. Lesson learned.
