The food was really tasty and satisfying. Each dish had great flavors, and everything was cooked perfectly. The ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was nice. Overall, it was a wonderful meal that left me feeling happy and full. I’d definitely recommend it!"
Paal kappa and beef combo was really good. The beef ularthu was super awesome even though the consistency was different each time i tried (3 times)
I got porotta, beef fry, fish fry and Chatti choru. Overall good food, especially the beef fry. The service was good too.
I visited this restaurant after seeing some Instagram promotions, excited to try the food. We ordered Paal Kappa, but the portion was quite small and left us hungry. The waitress suggested biriyani, so we ordered that. After waiting for 20 minutes, she came back to inform us that it was no longer available. Disappointed, we then ordered the Porotta Beef combo, but were instead served Porotta Chicken. To top it off, we ordered coffee and lime juice, asking for it urgently since we were thirsty. However, we received tea and lime juice when the bill arrived. When we shared our feedback, the staff didn’t take responsibility and blamed the new waitress for the errors instead of owning up to their mistakes. Also the quantity of curries served is less compared to price. I will get biriyani salad in the same container (the one beef was served)for other restaurants. Overall, not a good experience
The Kerala parotta and beef were excellent, and the chicken we ordered was also quite good. Unfortunately, the ghee dosa was a disaster. Like many Kerala restaurants, the extensive menu seems to be a challenge. Best wishes to the new management. However, there was a noticeable lack of professionalism in the service. We might give it another try later.
We ordered take out from Uber Eats. The quality of the food, the taste and the quantity was a big disappointment. The food had no salt in it. The fish curry, sambhar tasted stale. The beef curry was average. We got 7 small pieces of dry chicken when we ordered chicken 65. The entire order was a let down.
I was thrilled to try this restaurant after learning it was under new management and serving Kerala cuisine. My first visit earlier this week was a success - the 'chattichoru' was deliciously authentic, despite a 30-minute wait. However, my second visit today was a letdown. I ordered takeout during lunch and was dismayed to find the chicken curry had gone bad, with a foul odor and taste of spoiled food. I shared my feedback with the management, and although they apologized, the experience was deeply disappointing.
The restaurant is well decorated. But that’s about it for the positives.. I order veg rice and curry, and honestly I should have gone anywhere else for my food. It took so long for the food to come out. I thought they were cooking something fresh, but I guess their microwave is just really slow!!! When the food finally came out, I was served riced and 5 curries: - Dhal - Burnt Chickpea and Eggplant - Frozen carrots, beans, peas and corn sauted with a bit of onions - Soymeat curry with a spoiled aftertaste and weird smell - and what the hostess said is Sambar What did I eat? Just the rice, dhal, and “sambar”. All had no salt, so thank god for the salt shaker. Honestly will not be returning here again. Waste of money. Oh and my husband had the beef kothu, said he’s never had worse kothu anywhere else. So atleast they won that award! Do not waste your time or money!!
Authentic kerala food . We tried their Crab roast- kerala Poratta and chatti choru. Highly recommended Food
Ela Ada with jackfruit was very bad so we couldn t eat Neyappam was very hard which was re heated in microwave amd given to us Pazampori was re heated as well in microwave so it was soggy Puffs - it tasted like frozen parotta was used as puff pastry and the filling was like butter chicken curry Tea was ok Such a disappointment !!!
I ordered shrimp Karma rice and naan bread I didnt get any naan bread it was something else they charged me $7.18 for seven shrimp and water for sauce it was disgusting and the shrimp were very small the rice was cold $35 with a waste of money couldnt share it if I even wanted to there wasnt even enough for me to eat I ate only two of the shrimp didnt end up eating the stuff that they sent that was supposed to be naan bread that wasnt naan bread I called the company they were supposed to call me back they never returned my call I guess Im out $35 what a disappointment Ive been eating Indian food for over 40 years and I must say its the worst place Ive ever ordered in my life and their customer service is not anything at all I was told I would get a call back which I did not I would not recommend this place I waited an hour almost for my food and like I said the food was cold the korma shrimp sauce was disgusting like water and seven measly little shrimp that I could have bought for $4.99 a whole shrimp platter at Giant Tiger it was the same kind of shrimp I dont see this place staying open for long delivered to a hotel didnt even bring me Cutlery no napkin no salt like I asked not one thing that was nice about this order I had wished they would contact me back before I put this review would love to share some pictures I kept the crappy food its still in my car I went to bed hungry nothing was warm on it
One of the best place in Oshawa for dine in. Excellent service and great food. We had banana fry, chicken roast, porotta, masala tea. All of them were fresh and hot. Tastes yummy too. Remarkable customer service. We will be back for sure.
Nice restaurant, must try biriyani
The food was delicious and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. The portions were just right, and the presentation was appealing. I really enjoyed the meal and would happily come back again.
Good and tasty food , wonderful customer service
Total disaster . Not organized. Rotten fish .staff are not trained .. portion is not proportional for combos .. it took an hour to realize item is not available after taking the order. After long wait got kappbiriyani ,instead of kappa and beef my wife ordered. Never will visit again... Tea is milk powder .... lol ...just our weekend food plan was ruined by a stupid/ Instagram promo.. They dont even have a menu there ....this restaurant is total joke . The poori the cooked was funny . My 12year old son makes better poori ...
I bought food from this store a couple of days ago and it was the worst food i ever had in oshawa, after seeing the back side of the restaurant, it was one of the most disgusting thing i ever seen, onions and lots of things were cutting at back side and still have lot of waste
Worst food with poor quantity and quality. When we notified manager ,she doesnt even bothered or told a single sorry. Terrible experience and sorry to say. Food
Food is okay,I am not so fond of their biriyani, though. If we have to talk about the service they provide. The worst. We stopped going there only because the worst service. They try to be good, asking if everything is okay in every minute when we are having the food. Even if we complain about something, they dont know how to take responsibility for the mistake or dont know how to convince the customer. Giving 1 star only because of the service.
Nice place to dine in. Friendly staffs. Welcoming environment. Must try Kanthari Alfaham is lit
Don t go here worst food I bought 5 biriyani it was utter waste and for which i paid around 88 Cad. I called them today evening and complained them about this. They made us wait for more than 1.5 hr for the order.
It was a good experience .the service was really good, also the food !
Nice experience with every aspects of the restaurants
friendly approach and perefwct service Vegetarian options: Meals Food : 5/5 |
I ordered food 50 minutes in advance over the phone but it still wasn t ready when I arrived, and I had to wait an additional 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the food was poorly prepared and looked unappetizing, almost like mud or clay. Two of my guests who tried it ended up with stomach pain. The dish, which they call their signature puttu mix, was so disappointing that I had to throw it in the garbage. To make matters worse, the food was overpriced.
Excellent food and service must visit food spot oshawa
Gave a very nice service and good experience
The food and service was very excellent!
Its really nice place to hangout with friends. They have delicious biriyani.
Good food, and good service. But the quantity lowered little bit.
very awful service, taking more than 1.30 hrs for making the food
Yummy food so tasty and really good service and friendly staffs
I enjoyed today and the one named Ragima did a great welcoming and it maid my day and we got a great dining. Thank you very much.
Great service.
Food was amazing
Food was delicious!
Dishes which I ordered is delicious and yummy..and the ambience was similar to home.
I had a great experience with this restaurant, the customer service was really admirable, tasty food with good atmosphere.
Neypathal and beef was awesome and tasty , Chicken biriyani was not bad, but when I bought mutton biriyani it had very less mutton pieces in it and without flesh...and the same happened with kappa chicken biriyani. But overall the food is good and tasty. And coffee is very tasty. I loved it the most with banana fry. In case of tidiness , washrooms are not clean and have no napkins.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ammachi restaurant, where I tried the Parotta, idiyappam and beef fry a classic Kerala combination that did not disappoint. The idiyappam, delicate and perfectly steamed, was a standout. Each strand was light and fluffy, with a subtle hint that complemented the dish beautifully. The texture was just right, making it easy to soak up the accompanying curry. Now, the beef fry was the true star of the meal. The meat was tender, marinated in a rich blend of spices that provided a deep, satisfying flavor. The dish had a nice kick, with just enough heat to awaken the palate without overwhelming it. The beef was generously garnished with fried onions and fresh curry leaves, adding a wonderful aroma and a delightful crunch. Together, the idiyappam and beef fry created a wonderful harmony of flavors and textures. The sweetness of the idiyappam balanced the savory, spicy notes of the beef, making each bite a delightful experience. The ambiance at Ammachi was warm and inviting, reminiscent of a traditional Kerala home. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, my experience at Ammachi was fantastic. If you re looking for an authentic taste of Kerala, I highly recommend trying the idiyappam and beef fry. It s a dish that truly captures the essence of the region s culinary heritage.
Kerala & Srilankan food
Bad customer service.called them for mobile order of two biriyani and they told me biriyani will take 40 minutes and asked my phone number and name for calling me back.I waited for their call and they didnot make any call back.I waited for more than 1 and half hour and called them back.First they told biriyani is over. Then I informed them about the call, they told it will take time for biriyaniand are still on process.Donot make customer fool.If you donot have biriyani, just tell about it.I can order something else and have my dinner.
We had lovely breakfast....kids friendly....dip wada and dip idli wada very good....
Parota chicken roast and beef fry match made in heaven must try
Food was really good . Service was great as well,. But overall cleaniness wasn t that great.
The food captures authentic flavors, with each dish tasting homemade and packed with the warmth of traditional recipes. The spices are perfectly balanced, bringing out the unique flavors of every item on the menu. I especially loved the chicken Biriyani and Beef dry. The staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. If youre looking for a place that serves genuine, flavorful meals with a home-cooked feel, Ammachi is a must-visit. Highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic cuisine!
I would appreciate the cooking and I would recommend everyone to try this spot
Good food , excellent customer service
Very good restaurant
Food is really tasty. Felt that the portion size was a bit smaller. The tables, seats and floor were not clean.
We went in around 1pm and the biriyani was sold out! They had nothing but just meals. We had to opt in as no options were available other than appam or porotta Being a malayali, meals is not what we would have when we crave for hotel food. But we were too tired to switch restaurants, so we decided to try it The rice was okay, but definitely not made the same day. The curries were mediocre and below average As someone who can cook, I would certainly say that I could cook better meals at home. Sambhar was awful, parippu was just okay, the water had something in it but didnt complain about it The beef we ordered was 2/10 Since the staff girl was polite, we didnt say anything and paid for it Will we go there again? No Were we happy? No Could we have made better food at home? Yes If you are looking for something awesome, maybe call them and ask whats available and then go (which would have been a better option for us) As we didnt try biriyani -no comments Meals was bad
Tried ordering something twice and they are always out of stock.. its like they dont want customers...
This restaurant is under the new management team, unlike the old team, they ensure customers come back. The Chatti Choru is a must try , and the Chicken Kondattam was perfectly crispy and spiced. Exceptional service by Anthony and Ragima made our visit unforgettable. A huge improvement from the old team !!! highly recommended for authentic Kerala cuisine!
We went there and sat there for sometime. The service was real bad. Like they don t know what they are doing. It took 5-10 mins for the menu. That also I had to go and ask for it. Then they took the order and then after 5 mins they came and told us the biriyani and porotta beef wasn t available. (We ordered biriyani and Porotta chicken.) I specifically ordered biriyani because the waitress told me it should be quick. But then again another guy came in and said it will take 45mins. Basically we wasted our time. The table was stinky as well. Looks the management is the problem here. Please improve your management skills. Customer service is really important here.
They have everything in their menu but 95% not available at all. Whenever I call them they will say that only limited menu is available. I ordered beef biriyani and paalkappa fish curry combo. Both are having worst taste. If it s the chef s problem solve it first before selling. They told me it will take only 15 minutes to prepare. I went to the restaurant in 20 minutes. But the guy at the counter not even paying attention. I told him about my order snd he said he will check. He went to the kitchen and didn t told me anything. Then i had talked to two girls. Same experience. I am not sure what is causing all these confusion. In restaurants there will be delays, anyone can understand it. But these staffs are not even communicating with the customer. They have to train the staff properly on how to behave. Before that you guys have to go to any Kerala restaurant and experience how your limited menu items taste like. This is simply waste of money and time. *this is the second time and never coming back * to the management: you have to figure out how to run it properly *
Erachi putt was really good
We went there for dinner tonight and got plastic to eat!!!! We found a small piece of plastic in our biriyani. The rice was soggy and mixed with chicken curry and served as biriyani.. Even though we got the food refunded, it took several attempts to speak with the owner. Food : 1/5
Chicken biriyani was tasting oily..
Excellent food
Nice ambience and excellent food
I searched a lot kerala restaurant in Canada and its one of the best restaurants Ive ever visited.
One of the best kerala food restaurant in Canada, and the customer service is awesome.
A perfect place for late night dinner.
Authentic Kerala dishes. Porota & beef was good
Best South Indian food restaurant in Oshawa . Amazing services and best food especially neichor
Fantastic Food Good service Food
Liked the beef roast. My own country.
Food and services are really good.
Food was so delicious and table service was so friendly.
The food was really good and the service was excellent.
Food
We have to wait for a long time to get the food and the food was cold too.
Awesome
Food was great, the service is good and it is very authentic.
The food was good, well-cooked, and enjoyable. Really recommend.
Nice experience with every aspects of the restaurants
Looking forward in dining again
Ragima uyir. Best chef in universe. Neetu - chechi surpasses. Best customer service in the universe.
Terrible Experience - Cold Food & Poor Service I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. We ordered our food and waited for 30 minutes, only for them to bring everything out cold. None of the dishes were even properly warmed. On top of that, the service was just as bad. They didn t even know to serve water first we had to remind them to bring it, and they took another 20 minutes after we reminded them a second time! When the food finally arrived, it came without plates or utensils, so we had to ask for those too. Overall, both the food and the service were terrible. If youre looking for a pleasant dining experience, I would recommend avoiding this place.
I recently visited Ammachi Restaurant and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The food was served cold, which was a major letdown. On top of that, the service was lacking; it felt like the staff were more focused on filming promotional videos than attending to customers. I expected much more from this place, and I hope they can improve in the future.
Will cancel youre order in the last minute.
I had ordered Paal kappa, with chicken curry last week. It was delicious and also ordered puttu with chicken curry combo and porotta with chicken curry combo. It was so tasty and and can feel the Kerala food taste. Eagerly waiting to try their KalDosa, vada, sambar and chutney which is mentioned in the menu that are in reasonable rate. The customer service is fine and the staffs are so friendly. Hoping they will come up with various food combos that are reasonable. Overall it is a good place to try Kerala style foods.
Tbh the food was really good when the new management undertook. Now it is really bad. They changed the chef.
I hesitate to put this comments but I should share this as I think the management should look into customer service . I went with my family and they didn t had anything that we asked from menu. Then we ordered kappa biriyani, pidi and chicken curry. Kappa biriyani came after 25 mins and had to wait more than 45 mins for pidi. I waited patiently for 45 mins and had to cancel my order and leave the restaurant after wasting my time for almost an hour since the waitress came and told it will take more time which was insane. The service was poor and feels like you don t want to go there anymore.
Non veg meals felt like homemade
Puthiyappila choru is so good. Customer service is also nice, Overall one of the best Kerala restaurants in oshawa.
I ordered PaalKappa, it was so good and especially customer service was amazing
I tried paal kappa from here it was really good. Highly recommend this place and the staffs were really friendly
Tried veg curry(matar curry) and parotta are really tasty
Egg masala with yummy parotta.Really enjoyed the food
Food is very delicious. Customer service is also good.
Worst experience.Visited the store today, waited 15min for getting the table cleared, still nobody attended us. Had to leave the restaurant after waiting for a long time.Very pathetic customer service.Wasnt expecting such a terrible experience from a Kerala restaurant.
We had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant today. We waited for 20min for getting a table cleared and staff to attend us.The customer service was just terrible. The staffs were watching us standing there all these time to get the table cleared and didn t even showed the courtesy to at least let us know how long we ve to wait for the service. I would never recommend this place to anyone.Very disappointing experience from a Kerala restaurant.
Our experience at the hotel was quite underwhelming. We ordered the mutton biriyani, but it had very few pieces of mutton and no gravy, which left the dish feeling incomplete. The overall taste was just average. We were drawn in by the promotions we saw on Instagram, but unfortunately, the meal didnt live up to the expectations they set.
They re open late until 2 but if you have they only serve selected items they have 3 items from the whole menu and that s all they offer. It s disappointing for the customers. Please fix it
I recently took an order out and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The pothuchoru and chicken biryani did not meet expectations, as the curries tasted bad and the rice was under cooked. The portion was also very little.
The food was delicious and akshaya provided an excellent customer service
Good foody experience. Nice customer service from Krishna and Akshaya
Krishnan the best cook EVER!!!! Food tastes amazing. Food
Very Expensive for the way they sell their food compared to other stores. Not worth for the money we pay.
Stay away from this restaurant, they serve old , stale food directly from fridge without even heating it. Poor service & bad quality food.Luckily I did not get food poison eating stale food. Will never visit again. The restauarant was far more better with previous ownership.
The customer service is very worse, Its not worth the money we spend. Never order the chatti chooru. If interested, try not to order chatti chooru because they are charging $3 for giving one piece extra meat which is the difference between chatti and pothi chooru.
I ordered porotta and beef last day and the portion of beef was too low and i didnt even get a single piece of beef from that one...i tried to call them about 6..7 times and they didnt even pic that call.. I wanna let you guys know that you have to improve the quantity of portions that you provide and there has to be meat in the curry as well..
Ordered Chicken & Mutton Dum Biryani, and was just plain rice with couple of table spoon of curry and small pieces of meat. Would never recommend this place to anyone, unless you like eating plain rice.Plus most of the items on menu is not available.
The restaurant serves nothing, they have kept the Menu only for show purpose .now they serve oniy 4 items of just non veg. Seems there is change in management as previously it used to be good. It is just a namesake restaurant to mislead customers. This is not just once , have happened several times already in past few weeks
I was initially skeptical about this establishment due to previous feedback. However, we decided to give it a try after learning that the restaurant management had recently changed. To our pleasant surprise, the service exceeded expectations. The food was prepared and delivered in record time, and the quality was exceptional. The biryani was outstanding, and the beef fry was superb. This place has significantly improved under the new management.
This place is under new management. We bought food for around 15 people and it was awesome. Chicken biriyani and beef fry tasted just like homemade. Porotta was ok. We loved their food. Highly recommended for folks with south indian taste buds.
worst quality food
Brilliant kerala food , love the new menu and the quality, the new team that has taken over seems to know what there are doing
Thank you ammachis, The food quality was truly exceptional, I cant wait to order more Paranjapole kidilan Food : 5/5
We ordered idly and dosa. Took half an hour to get the food. Idly is like brick and we complained to the food server. She said it is made of new batter. Not even worried about whether customer is satisfied with the food. Don t waste the money.
I got egg shells in my food
I placed take out order for $40. My order got completely messed up. I ordered two non veg pothichoru one with mutton and chicken and the other with chicken and fish. I made back to back calls to confirm but unfortunately they messed up the order. I requested for a refund which they didn t initially agree. The pazhampori that was ordered was almost burnt and made with unripe banana.Though I received a refund for the messed up order, the customer service and food was below average.
Ordered 12 samosas and they barely made it home. They were absolutely amazing. Service was great . Food was amazing! Food
Very poor service don t recommend.
Very bad service. Don t waste your time and money
Worst ever! Ordered chicken biriyani from there. No masala and food was not hot enough. Food
The worst biriyani in my lifetime. Wasted my money. Stay away from this place. The biriyani was an absolute insult to biriyani lovers everywhere. I wouldn t wish it on my worst enemy Try not to scam people Food
I found the service to be disappointing. The staff were unfriendly which took away from the overall experience.
Great food and Service.
I visited ammachis restaurant, it was very awful experience, we traveled a lot to get here, we reached there around 8.30 and it is said they are open till 2am in the morning , when we reach there they said they gonna close because they are tired.
Kappa beef was really disappointing. Uncooked cassava with lots of masala and floating oil on top. Not a good try!
Very delayed service since only one girl was managing take out orders and service. They need more staff for quick service.
Really bad experience
Terrible taste, extremely salty. Never experienced such terrible portion and quantity. There was barely any beef in any of the dishes. Also the wait was 1 hour 45mins for 3 dishes only to be extremely disappointed. Tried the place for the first time as they advertised that its under new management and serving authentic kerala cuisine, will never return. Please dont confuse their pathetic excuse for kerala food as the real deal!!!
Very disappointing experience
Yesterday, I went for a family lunch and overall experience was too bad. It took almost more than a hour for the food and the food was pathetic. Also, we didnt received one of the main course even after rest of as finished our food (Obviously, we cancelled it then). Food was too bad in quality as well. Sorry I had to make this review, hope you guys gets better.
worst food i ever had in my life. no taste no quality waste of money. 80$ paid for trashed food. i called and i asked the front staff, worst behavior she talks... never recommend to anyone..,
Rude staff, tasteless food
Got stomach pain after eat here. Under cooked rice.
Delicious dosas and wonderful service. A new favourite place to go for dinner! Dietary restrictions: Great for gluten-free diet! Food : 5/5 |
No good
A Hidden Gem for South Indian Flavors Recently visited this South Indian spot and was pleasantly surprised. The star of the show was the Mysore Masala Dosa - flavourful, and authentically prepared with delicious chutneys , just wondering why it was not crispy bt taste was so good . Its a must-try for dosa lovers! The chai was decent, though not exceptional. Skip the momos; theyre not the restaurants strong suit. What really enhanced the experience was the friendly and attentive server, who made us feel good. If youre craving genuine South Indian cuisine, this place hits the mark. Stick to their South Indian specialties, and you wont be disappointed. Highly recommended for an authentic taste of South India! Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian options
I went to this restaurant with my friends, the food ways so yummy , felt like home food. I highly suggest this restaurant
Tried the idli, masala dosa and veg patties, Kesari - all was good and was very homely in taste. Will next surely try the hoppers and other dishes.
Beef fried rice was $17, and Mutton Kothu roti was $17 on UberEats. The spices on the beef fried rice didnt really work together. It was citrusy. The Kothu roti was awesome! The flavours were delicious and even though it was a bit spicy, I really enjoyed it.
Best south indian breakfast. Must try Amazing masala dosa, vada, idlis, authentic egg curry. Food
Hello everyone this is my second time ordering from this restaurant. Both the time my experience was very bad. First time I ordered momos veg and chicken both steamed and also order Sambar vadai, and curd vadai. In this I like momos and red chutney was taste good both Sambar vadai and curd vadai was rotten I called and told them they ask us to come so they can give the different one, but my husband said don t want to go it s okay leave it so I told them please check to others before giving it. Then on Monday which June 17 evenings I order same momos chicken and veg as I believe last time it taste good so will buy that with that I order plain vadai also they told me 3 vadai for 2.99$ I ask him this is big vadai that s y it s 2.99$ on the call itself bcoz when I order first time I got sambar vadai it s really big vadai so I thought it will like that so okay . But on that order they didn t give red chutney for momos and the vadai is very tiny I didn t get it bcoz it s 2.99 for three. It s that small . I called and ask them they said the same but my husband don t want to go. Not only small it didn t well cook inside the vadai it s under cooked . It really terrible experience. Am not a person who will give bad review but after two time bad experiences people like should think before ordering and make sure you have everything what you order .
Really liked the Chicken Kothu Roti, had a place in Ajax that was my go to and I ve been searching for something closer since we moved. Very friendly when I picked up the food and it was ready on time. Will be back. I will note it was pretty spicy and I love spicy. Fine for me, but my wife couldn t handle it. If you don t like heat you may want to ask to tone it down. Kid-friendliness: Greeted my son and gave him a couple candies right away.
Taste is good
Worst, they send such a less quantity of sambhal on orders. DoNot order from them at any cost. They r ridiculous. Also, taste is not at all good. They should close their restaurant.
I thought I should give it a try , but I shouldve just trusted the reviews. I bought a mutton kothu extra Gravy and spicy. Costed just a little over $20 after taxes. Which is A LOT . Nonetheless I expected a bigger portion but was surprised to receive the take out bag with the container being small. There was no extra Gravy, but most importantly there was like 4 pieces of small mutton, and it wasnt anywhere near flavorful !!! Where the hell do you justify the pricing ???!?!? Last time ammachi, owners must revise their menu pricing and cook.
I ordered kottu rotti couple of time. Always told them to ad gravy. They make always dry not even little bit. Disappointed.
Best South Indian place to eat in Oshawa . Highly recommend. Loved the string hoppers . Vegetarian options: It s a good place for vegetarians to eat as well
This what the Quantity they give for 30 dollars the fish currry is only half. Never gonna back to this store
The food is really good. Great environment.
Decent price . Good serving size.. good taste . Nice ambience .. dine in experience is good.. tamilnadu style bryni.. tried chilli chicken and chicken fried rice .. tasted authentic
Worst food ever!!
Served pre prepared cold food, Dosa and curry. Staff doen;t know the difference between dosa and uttapam. not a worth to visit the place.
The food tastes good. Please spend some money on packaging. What is the use if half of it spills by the time we are home. And the price point is decent enough to buy decent containers. Recommendation for takeout customers : if you plan for a takeout get your own containers
Kothurotti was dry make sure to ask for extra gravy!
Good customer service and food were great! There a plenty of food in the menu that you can choose from.
Ordered takeout chicken curry and rice. Also came with 3 small containers of sides Very tasty and a nice kick to the curry. (Spicy) Ate it all and stuffed. Very good value. Will eat in next time. Several beers on tap.
Food is so bad and cold. Service is not.
The served worst quality of Biriyani.
Not South Indian. It s srilankan cuisine. The food was terrible.
Worst experience. Ordered idlis for dinner and those were like stones. We were not able to eat them. We threw them away.
Its Srilankan Cuisine as others pointed out. Most of the dishes has Srilankan taste and flavour rather than South Indian as advertised. But little cozy place offering drinks with spicy starters is definitely a bonus. Service was very friendly and timely.
Prices are pretty high, but they are being forced into this. I would suggest different sizes as they only have one size for most items. Thats why we feel restricted to multiple dishes. Food tastes good Food
Food quality is really very poor. Me and my wife just vomited up our lunch. Never going back.
Love the food here. Ordered chicken biriyani and mutton kottu. They were delicious and the service was great. More suitable for the one who like Sri Lankan cuisine. Highly recommend.
My wife ordered couple of items today for dinner and the food was stale. Very bad experience and not at all recommended.
Service was good. Nice ambience. ( Reason for 2 stars) Ordered Idly and vada . Worst Idly I ever had in canada. It felt like stored and microwaved. Sambar is simply water. vada is ok. Food
Cuisines are really delightful
Good ambience and excellent Indian food, must try mutton Kothu parotta
I recently dined here (puttu and chicken curry), expecting South Indian cuisine as advertised, but was surprised to find the menu predominantly featuring Sri Lankan dishes. While I understand Sri Lankan and South Indian foods share similarities, the flavors and preparations here were distinctly Sri Lankan. Having tried the Sri Lankan restaurant next door, I can confidently say there s a clear difference. It s misleading to label this as South Indian fine cuisine when it s more accurately Sri Lankan. It would be better if they accurately represented their offerings.
They have a wide range of menu to please everyone who enjoys South Indian food but the food is not that great. Milk hoppers were not well made and so was the chicken curry. The chicken was under cooked, the curry had more of of bone then the chicken itself. I also felt that the chicken was not cleaned properly. The price is very attractive than is because the portion is small. Even the lemonade is not freshly made. Very dissapointing.
Had Dosa and Idli. Food was well prepared and presented. Value for money. Tea is great
Food doesnt taste like South Indian, Bought Biriyani doesnt feel like South Indian.
Very good restaurant with amazing food and service. Definitely going to come more often.
We had their chicken biryani, mutton biryani as well as their veggie dishes and they were all amazingly tasty with authentic flavours ! Can t wait to try other dishes on their menu. Highly recommend the food.
Very delicious and original taste
So gooooood
I had a wonderful experience at Ammachi last Saturday for brunch with my wife. We ordered Veg Kothu Rotti, string hoppers, Masala dosa, and a filter coffee. The dishes were all prepared to perfection with authentic flavors. The server was exceptionally polite and friendly, helping us choose from the menu and explaining each dish in detail. The owners humble and welcoming nature added a personal touch to our visit. I highly recommend Ammachi to all South Indian food enthusiasts in Oshawa its a must-visit!
Stay away from this place. I had ordered a beef briyani and beef curry along with some other curries and other briyanis. When I arrived home, I realized that instead of giving us beef briyani, they gave us chicken fried rice eventhough the lid of the fried rice had been labelled as beef, they also instead of beef curry gave us chicken curry instead. I only eat beef and dont each chicken, so I was left with nothing to eat. I had called back and they said that they had mixed up the order, but after he double checked he said that they hadnt even made beef, eventhough they took my order. Stay away from this place if you want to eat the food you actually ordered.
Vegetarian options: Best Paneer Kothu that I had in recent times in Oshawa at a very affordable price which is just 8.49 Food
Awful food.. I feel writing a review is waste of my time.. Service was good but quality of food defeats the purpose.
Stay away from this restaurant. Service was prompt and courteous. But the server cant make up for the inedible food. Youll see a long list of problems below: 1. Everything was undercooked. Parotta, kal dosa, plain hoppers. 2. Both kal dosa and plain hoppers were obviously made from batter that was not fermented. Tasteless, not soft and spongy. If you dont have batter that is ready, keep it off the menu...dont cheat paying customers. 3. The curry and idli was very obviously just nuked and served. Microwaving does affect the quality and texture of food. 4. I dont understand calling the restaurant south indian when most of the menu is Sri Lankan. Wear your identity on your sleve and dont mislead customers. Overall, waste of money and time. Never been so disappointed by a restaurant, mainly coz nothing was edible! Would have given a 0 if it were possible
I was excited to see a new Indian restaurant open up in my area..as I usually travel to keele st to spice kitchen . I ordered butter chicken ,rice ,and naam bread..very basic Indian order. I asked if the bread was baked on site ..not packaged bread ..I was assured it was. This is what I got ..my order of butter chicken came in what I thought was a side order of spice..but infact was the complete order. It was a half cup Styrofoam cup with ..I kid you not 3 very small pieces of chicken, and only half full of sauce. The rice was ICE cold ..not even warm ..but a good portion. Costos packaged naam bread is better than what they served . Im sorry ,I really wished this place was good ,but its way over priced and poor outcome . 1 out of 10 would be generous ..dont waiste your time and hard earned money on this restaurant.
The place is nice , cozy and clean. I ordered the Dosas and Idly. Food tasted good for the price. Dosa size was fine for the price they charged. Happy that we have another South Indian restaurant in Oshawa. Bang for the buck. Would definitely recommend.
Great south indian cuisines must try kothu parotaa spicy depending on your buds
Food and service is upto high quality restaurant standards. Highly recommended but little pricey. Food
Mutton and beef biriyani is full of spices. As a spice lover, its too much spice and cant even eat half of it. Recipe needs to be revised.
Nice food! worth for the price. We tried their Masala Dosa and Beef kothu - both were delicious.
Nice atmosphere and good customer service too
Ordered paper dosa and idli from them. Both the dishes were not up to the mark. Idli was hard to touch and looked like it was just resteamed before packing also paper dosa is usually much bigger in size than normal plain dosa but we were sent normal size dosa for the cost of paper dosa . Food
