Upscale Pan-Asian and Sushi Restaurant
The food was not good and I was disappointed with the taste and presentation. The service was extremely slow, and it took long time to receive our food and get the check. The staff seemed uninterested in our concerns and the customer service was subpar. There were also flies in the restaurant, which was unsettling and made us question the cleanliness of the restaurant. When I book reservation, I was expecting to have great night as a family. But my overall experience was really bad. I will never go back that restaurant again…
Rating is based on very poor service received on December 1st. The short version of a long story is that I sat down with my family (3 people) and the server decided to take the order of a family of 6 people who arrived after us by 5 minutes. They even had their menus after us and she made an odd comment about how it won’t take long if they pushed their order through even though we were ready to order. Not kidding when I say the place was dead, but their order was taken first, they got their order, ate and were paying up before a single piece of food hit our table. This was 45 minutes. We were second class citizens and nobody should treat customers like this. I emailed my concerns to management through their website and didn’t even get a response. The gluten free food is good, but I don’t see myself going back for how they treated my family along with not bothering to respond when I reached out. Paying customers should all be treated equally and it’s just that simple. If you aren’t their preferred customer or friend then maybe you’ll be served later as well.
We had a wonderful meal shared between friends catching up. Our server was cheerful, friendly, and very patient. While also attentive to the large party that was just seated, meaning if we didn't hurry to get our order in, we would have to wait a long time. I will definitely go back and recommend it to everyone. Especially because the food was delicious!
Had an amazing dining experience tonight thanks to the lovely staff. Shout out to Crispe for her astounding and friendly service, 10 stars for her! She went above and beyond making sure we had what we need and that we liked the food. Her sense of humor was the highlight! She really made it a memorable night! Thank you!
Expensive cheap food. It does not cost much to put basil in the rice wrap so that it is somewhat authentic. It’s not fusion. It’s just strip down from the original taste for cost savings. Wasabi didn’t have a hint of mustard spice in it at all. Service was great though
Bambu is a must-visit for those seeking hearty, home-cooked meals. Their portions are generous, and while the food might not be the most gourmet, it's consistently satisfying. The service is top-notch, with a friendly and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. If you're looking for a comforting spot to enjoy a delicious meal with loved ones, Bambu is definitely worth checking out!
Long time customer and boy how things have changed. The cost of dim sum is through the roof. $9.99 for a Sapporo draft, $7.99 for a Miso soup!! the list goes on…. Walking in you can see how things are not being kept up. Holes in the drywall at the entrance. The bar area has scuff marks, the floor has dirt all over it, random garbage on the patio, sticky dinner table. You can clearly see that things are not going so well anymore. It’s sad to see. This place used to be buzzing with life but I think the customers have caught on. Now, the food is good but when you spend over $100 for miso soup, shrimp tempura, shrimp shu mai, an orange roll and a Sapporo that’s a hard sell. Unfortunately it’s time for me to move on as well.
Generous portion and the waitress was super friendly! I like spicy food so Thai Basil Beef was recommended to me and it was super delicious! It went well with white rice! Friendly waitress also offered me some chopped up hot peppers to add in my soy sauce for sushi. Friends were happy with their chicken dish and sushi as well. Other than the food, we also liked their Asian decor and how spacy it is in this restaurant! Plenty of free parking on site is a bonus too.
Not a good place for lunch. No lunch menu. Dishes do not come with a side. Cost me $30 for a plate of shrimp with no garnish, a cup of rice and some water.
Cassidy is an amazing server.
Great ambiance! Friendly staff! Very impressed by Cassidys service. Highly recommended!
My friend held their annual client appreciation event here a few times. Always great food, drinks, and service. Plenty of parking as well.
Great service and wonderful food. There are options for everyone.
Great food, decor and service...will definitely be back. The sushi was amazing
I have tried take outs and dine in at Bambu, and the quality and taste has always been great. This evening we dined in and the service was great. Crispy was taking care of us and she was attentive and friendly. We will be visiting again for sure.
While the place and atmosphere strive for a fashionable restaurant style, the food doesnt exceed ordinary expectations. The sushi is definitely better than the Chinese menu.
Have yet to find a better variety of sushi/sashimi in town but some of the other dishes are plentiful and tasty. Even their egg rolls are anything but routine. The worst were their fortune cookies that tasted like cardboard. They know and will be soon replacing them with more regular cookies.
Great food. Perfect place if you want to get sushi and have access to a large non-sushi menu as well.
My favourite sushi place in Ottawa. Great menu selection so everyone can find something they like, and the shushi is superb! Definitely recommend the Salt Pepper Prawns, Crispy Beef and the Riverside Roll.
Some of the best sushi and Chinese food in Ottawa. Service is always excellent and staff always make great recommendations to ensure you get the best dishes.
Unbeknown to this restaurant, We recently brought an international musician to this restaurant as we have personally been here many times, however the waiter was EXTREMELY rude to them and our group. They also stated they could not guarantee there would be no cross contamination for a shellfish allergy? it was highly embarrassing as we considered this restaurant high end. We literally had to order from Moxies next door (which could accommodate the allergy). We will not be back and we suggest their staff be reminded to treat their customers with respect. Also they should clarify their policy for allergies
Online order, showup at 440pm for a 445 pm pick up, waiting at desk......so then finally someone shows(not busy at the time Sunday afternoon), their tablets are down, no online orders processed, yet a confirmation email and number, credit card billed. Then theu put a rush on the order, said he could give me a discount, he did but the kitchen gave me the wrong entree!! I didnt open the container before leaving, I just wanted my food and be out. I should have checked, good a veggie medley that we could not totally eat dye to intolerances to mushrooms and snowpeas!! Not the first issue, 3 strikes, I am done! This used to be a great place.
Had the pleasure in having a wedding here. The staff were great to work with, and have been very accommodating with my needs
We had a really unpleasant experience here. Service is not existent, and food is mediocre at best.
First time going after a friend of a friend recommended it. It was delicious. And fresh. And authentic. Definitely going to go back.
The place is outstanding. The food is great, big portions. Very diverse menu. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes Food : 5/5 |
We ordered the Shezuan Crispy Beef, Singapore Noodle, and General Tso chicken. Nothing came with any vegetables except for the Singapore noodle. The crispy beef and chicken were some sort of chicken nugget smothered in sauce, probably from a bottle. Definitely not made fresh onsite. I was definitely disappointed in this visit. But have no intention of visiting again. I do not recommend this place at all.
We waited one hour for are food, it was a very small portion and was super cold in the building.
One of the finest place for Sushi, Thai and Chinese food. Amazing service by long time serving staff always. They take really good care of you.
Quite a surprise! Can t say the food is excellent but definitely didn t disappoint! Pricing wise is on the higher end for Chinese food.
We want to Bambu last night for my birthday. The restaurant was infested with fruitflies. We were swatting them away from our food. Gross!
Nice atmosphere. Food looks and tastes good. A bit on the high side, but overall great ambience. Staff is also awesome .
After not having been to Bambu since before covid, I thought it was time to return. Previously, Ive had amazing food there, and thought my boyfriend would really enjoy it. After making a reservation, assuming it would be busy at 7pm on a Saturday, we arrived to a half empty restaurant. We mentioned we had a reservation and were seated by what I assume was a hostess, but she could have been a robot as not a word was said to us as we were walked to our table. Upon seating, the table was wet, not from wiping it down, but from previous guests, and our paper menus were crumpled and dirty! After looking over the menu that I was afraid to touch of course, I noticed that the menu had diminished by 50% since being there Previously. Of course this happens, and I can accept that the dishes I had enjoyed Previously were no longer available. However, I expect alot more from a restaurant if you expect me to pay $18 for an 8oz glass of wine while trying not to touch the dirty, crumpled paper menu in front of me. After sitting for at least 8 minutes with no service at all at our table, we chose to leave. This was something I was looking forward to after telling my boyfriend how great it was. Its unfortunate that their standards are now so low. Its no wonder they were half empty on a Saturday evening, when there used to be a 45 minute wait time without a reservation. I will never return, and you should think twice about visiting yourself.
I was not happy at all with the food and service received this time. We didn t receive our appetizer and had to remind for the order. I also found foreign object in my food and was very disappointed. I was big fan of this place but not sure now Vegetarian options: Limited option
sixteen of us enjoyed a post graduation luncheon at Bambu. The food from the extensive menu was enjoyable but it was unfortunate that, even though it was not busy, it took a long time to get our lunch. When the first dish finally arrived it took at least 20 minutes for the last person to be served. I would not reserve here again for a large party.
I was promised my allergies would be taken seriously and as someone with celiac that is very important. The meal I ate was certainly not free of cross contamination as per how sick I was after eating there. NOT celiac safe
The atmosphere is very good, which matches their food and their service. I have only tried a few dishes and were all good. Especially liked salt and pepper fried you. I actually crave that dish, which brings me back to this restaurant. The egg rolls are on par with GP. Will go again to try other dishes.
We always enjoy our visits to the Bambu. The food is always very good.
Can t say it s great since the website says it opens at 3:00 on Monday and Wednesday. Some friends and I were there at 3:00 today. NOT OPEN YET!!!!! Found out it doesn t open until 4:30. Very bad. Never again.
Long time client but the service has really gone downhill the last few visits. We love the food but 35 minutes to get a drink? Won t be back
5 stars just for miss Crispy on staff!! She served us an incredible meal last weekend and was incredibly thoughtful when it came to our childs food and drink. She made it a fun restaurant experience and had awesome menu (and grocery) recommendations. The restaurant was also super clean and great bathroom facilities. Everyone was great, thank you! Dietary restrictions: Crispy was very knowledgeable of all the ingredients and helped us pick appropriate foods for our whole meal, even bringing in replacements that fit the bill even more (when it came to what our child ate!). The info might not be on the menu, but if you ask the staff they will absolutely find out for you!
Disappointment. Overpriced for below average sushi.
Came here with our team after a volleyball tournament day. We made reservations and they seated us quite comfortably (Group of 28). The service was quick, the food was good, but the only problem was that when it came to pay separate bills, there was minor confusion. One of the servers did add the tip to some of the bills and the other did not, which lead to some of us tipping twice.
Just okay food and service. We wont be back. Decent ambiance and seating with booths and regular seating. The food is not worth coming back for. Everything tasted like it came out of a bag or box, from the seaweed salad, to the soups and sauces. Everything tasted okay, but nothing special. Food was expensive for something that came frozen out of a box and thrown together. I dont recommend anything tempura since they overdid the batter. The shrimp tempura was 65% tempura, so there was barely any shrimp. Our server was nice though.
Food really good a bit overpriced and very slow service
Dishes were prepared differently than I have had anywhere else. The food is par at best. Not quite to my liking . Quite sure we wont go back.
Great for Sushi, and just about anything else to be honest
First time there, didnt look like they had enough staff on.....Looked like they were overwhelmed with people.....Food took awhile to come to our table......Food was alright
We went to Bambú this past Saturday, in a group of about 15 people, for a 2PM lunch. The restaurant was a little empty, with maybe 4 other tables sat, and they had this kinda weird dancy/remix music going and it didnt really fit the vibe. The service was pretty good, & the server was overall really nice. She did forget a few things, but we were a large & indecisive group, so I dont blame her. The food was really meh. Thai basil beef was forgettable. The general tao really had no spice to it/was a little too sweet, & the sushi was okay, but kind of subpar compared to other sushi/Asian places nearby. The appetizers, though, were super yummy. Dumpling, tempura shrimp, eggrolls, crispy chicken, highlight of the meal. It uh... wouldnt be my first recommendation.
The service and atmosphere were great but the food was not the best.
We arrived at the table to only find a sticky mess. The server was friendly and wiped it down, but it was still sticky and gross...feet were sticking to the floor. There were splatters on the blinds and was left with the feeling the place was not clean...even the bathrooms showed signs of not being properly clean. The food was ok, I suspect the king crab meat that was supposed to be in one of the roles was a lesser version...was disappointed for the price. Also we had salmon sashimi...$17 and 3 pieces...was old and slimy. 2 drinks, 1 small appetizer and 3 roles = $120 + tip. Was expensive for what we received.
The miso soup was delicious and you can have it for 2 people. The sushi was fresh and delicious. This is was my 2nd visit and i will come back to try more dishes. Recommended
Always a great meal and great vibe here.
Always enjoy going here, good food ,pleasant staff and good service, and honest. My partner lost her diamonds ring there it was found and returned may only good things happen to that person.
It was my first time at Bambu restaurant with my hubby.
Best classy place to enjoy sushi in town
Crispy is an amazing person! Thanks for the great service!
Place was empty, tried to get a table for 6 plus to high chairs only to be turned away.
What a great place with delicious sushi to hang out with your girlfriend! Loved it! Parking: Tons of space to park.
Our favourite place for sushi. The Riverside roll and roasted rice green tea is simply delicious! We always get the same server who tries to remember our order by heart and systematically forgets something. But we are used to it now and go once a month or so.
Food quality has definitely gone downhill. Singapore noodles, general Tao chicken were on the bland side. The salt and pepper seafood.was tasty, but others are lacking in taste. The portions are way smaller. Now served in smaller containers. Not worth the price anymore. Pretty expensive. .
Went for lunar New Year. Food was delicious. Szechuan crispy beef, bok choy in garlic sauce, Singapore noodles, and sesame balls for dessert. With Jasmine tea. And lets not forget Dim Sum. All tasty and fragrant and yummy.
One of my favourite places to eat in Ottawa Parking: Lots of spots available Kid-friendliness: The staff were really nice to the kids
Was amazingly Good, and the place is very refreshing and clean
Food was on point and the overall atmosphere in this restaurant seems to be very positive.
This place has surprisingly good sushi and Chinese food. Service can be a bit slow at times so plan accordingly. But it s consistent and good food. Great quality of fresh fish and really good general taos chicken.
I was gifted a gift certificate for Bambu and have been 3 times to use up the gift. Every visit has not been great but this last one was definitely the worst. I am happy I will never need to return. Generally, the food plates lacks flavour. The sushi tastes off and today I was only able to eat the avocado maki I ordered. The worst part has to be the men s washroom. It smells horrendously. My partner mentioned the smell to the staff and he was informed that because the building was poorly built the smell was coming from the sewer lines. There are better Asian food places in Ottawa and way better sushi. Don t waste your time and money at Bambu.
Great place and good atmosphere. Multicultiral staff add to the atmosphere and propogates what Canada is all about... multicultural acceptance, including all workplaces. Some food quality could be worked on especially the dimsum and the chicken and vegetable is too bland, GF dishes can be flavourful.
Best sushi
It was a birthday party and we got served by a man forgot his name but he was so friendly, its my second time eating sushi even tho im not a big fan of it but he suggested that and I liked it definitely recommend ...Oh yeah he made sure my drink was no alcohol
January 2 , 2024 Email written to Jenny , management and still waiting for acknowledgement. Silent speaks volumes!!! Good evening, Was very saddened to see the extreme menu change , but understandable when after the pandemic. Our server brought our water and we placed our order. While taking a sip I noticed my glass had a big crack down the side and when bought to the attention of our server she said oh yeah I noticed a crack and yet still gave it to me. We ordered the open ended egg rolls and they were half cooked with great flavour. I ordered the beef and broccoli and when it arrived it smelt amazing and the first bite was good. As I continued my stomach was not reacting well with it and I have to run to the bathroom and vomit. We asked for the bill and the server brought it to us and asked if I wanted a box to take it home and I explained what happened and that it caused me to vomit. She then proceeded to say oh but that s out number one item to order, I don t understand and then ring in the full amount and said after we had paid that oh my manager isn t here or I d ask to give you a discount. I must say that her actions tonight after paying $90 bucks for food that makes you vomit and be given a glass that the staff were aware was broken, is absolutely revolting. So I am asking you for a full refund and can provide you the receipts as proof of us eating there tonight. I look forward to a prompt response to my email.* ******STILL Waiting FOR A RESPONSE ****
Very fast and friendly service by Jacqueline, nice and quiet, not packed. Romantic lighting. Amazing gluten free menu. The coconut curry seafood was amazing! The seafood was cooked delicately and to perfection. Several kinds of seafood in the dish. Delicious sauce with lots of vegetables, and even some potatoes. 10/10 Dietary restrictions: Many gluten free options!!
I ordered shrimp pad thai and the taste of the sauce was phenomenal, rich taste and shrimps were cooked perfectly
Pretty pedestrian experience with exceptionally poor service. Took about 40 mins to have someone even come to our table. I actually had to go get someone to have her come to it. When she did come to the table we were fully ready but she brought us the wrong order. It was a very annoying experience and the food was very mediocre. I will not be back.
Always a good time at bambu! Delicious and fresh food, knowledgeable and pleasant service, and plenty of space for social enjoyment. Love the sushi.
Had Lewis as our server to begin our journey at Bambu many years ago and how fitting to have him last night to ring in the New Year. Just a wonderful time as always and fantastic service!!
Ive been here multiple times and the seafood pepper salt is amazing. We had one bad experience during a Sunday dinner but the manager fixed it quickly.
Delicious food! A bit expensive for what you get but the atmosphere and quality of the food will make your visit more than worth it!
Sushi was delicious and the presentation was really cute in a big wooden boat!
Exceptional fusion restaurant with savvy servers and welcoming staff. Everything we had was delicious and well timed. Amazing open ended eggrolls. 10/10
Have eaten here many times and it is always tasty. Highly recommend the garlic butter trio and Buddhas delight dishes.
The food was excellent as always. The service provided by Crispy was above and beyond any Ive ever experienced. She was warm, knowledgeable, accommodating and exceptionally helpful. Dietary restrictions: They were very careful and accommodating with my food allergies.
Best Asian food and sushi!! Always fresh and consistent.
We had high hopes for this place. My wife has a gluten and dairy intolerance, and its hard to find more than the basics when it comes to sushi or chinese food, but Bambu sounded very conscientious about dietary restrictions and offered both! Unfortunately by the end of the meal she was in the restroom with the classic symptoms. We made it across the street before we had to stop in at the next restroom, and then home where she spent the rest of the night in pain. I called and spoke to the manager the next day to go over our order and see if we had mixed something up since we hadnt mentioned the dairy intolerance, but I was informed that everything we ordered should have been safe. The owner sounded very concerned and assured me he would look into the matter, including checking cameras to see what may have happened. I gave him a few days to call back with the results but did not hear back so I called again and left my contact information. Its been a month of no response now, so its time to warn the rest of you. We stuck to the sushi this time around so I cant comment on the chinese food aspect. Our server was very thoughtful and attentive, and our food was pretty good. The price was a bit higher than our favourite sushi place in Ottawa and we may have tried Bambu again to see how the chinese food measured up, but with everything else factored in its not worth the risk.
Loved the design and the pad thai was fantastic!
Good wonton soup, very skimpy on the shrimp in the rice rolls. Had lunch on a Saturday, was put in the bar area not the restaurant presumably because it wasnt that busy. Very attentive service, limited small plate menu. The sushi menu is fairly extensive.
Some of the best sushis in the Ottawa area ! Loved it !!
Love love love Bambu! The food is absolutely amazing. The portions are large and everything is delicious. An absolute must try.
The food, drinks, and service were unreal. Some of the best sushi I ve had in Ottawa, can t wait to come back!!
Service is really good, sushi is great, little bit expensive. Highlight was definitely the tuna nigiri, big piece of melt in your mouth tuna on rice.
Food here is amazing!! The service was slow and I felt like I had to yell at my wife for her to hear me.
Miso soup was lukewarm, sushi was expensive for the amount you get, and service was a bit slow even though the restaurant wasnt very busy. Maybe we went on a bad day at a bad time... (Sunday night at 7pm)
It was just OK, the veggies tasted old and beware if you have any allergies to advise first.
Tried stir fried dishes and cream corn soup. Soup was good but the other items were just ok-ish
BEAUTIFUL ATMOSPHERE, GOOD FOOD AND GOOD SERVICE...
Best Sushi in Ottawa!
Ive eaten twice, and both times, it was for a business lunch meeting. The service was efficient and polite. The food is delicious, with a plethora or options. Food : 5/5
Food was amazing! Crispy (the server) was brilliant , made us feel like we are at home ! Was very welcoming and very kind! 5 star for her service , we came with 9 people due to Ali s recommendation ( a customer ).
Best sushi in Ottawa.
The dishes smells bad service was very slow and the was ok
The quality has gone down significantly. It tasted like my meat had freezer burn and my rice was day old . Waiter did not come back or check on us
Unfortunately, the wonton soup vegetables seem not cleaned well, and had those small insects in them
We were so disappointed. Will never go back. Service was slow. The food is expensive but the quality isnt as good as I remember it to be. What made me most upset was I felt neglected and an hour after I ate there I started feeling sick (stomach). Clearly my table was not the priority at all but I still had to pay full price.
Crispy is the best!
I went with a friend for dinner and we were seated in the bar area instead of the restaurant which was odd but acceptable. Our waitress was rude and demeaning. She didnt answer a question we had about the food. The food I did get (an eggplant dish with bean sauce) was wet and soggy despite it says it was lightly fried on the menu. I understand that service staff have bad days but every interaction we had was rude.
Mediocre food, very slow service, and expensive.
Pretty amazing though they need to pay closer attention to training staff on gluten free menu options. Lots of confusion there
Caution not worth the prices! Food is mediocre and the cleanliness of the place leaves much to be desired! Staff is friendly, that s about the only good thing! Keep in mind that I asked our waitress if they d had a very busy day? She replied god no! It s been super slow! So, I now leave you with this explanation for my review! The sushi bar display case (fridge) looked disgusting! It like it hadn t been cleaned in a week! Bathrooms were the same, terrible conditions! The floor of the restaurant over all was dirty! Now for the food, the BBQ Pork steamed buns were good, their signature bambú sushi roll, was super bland and nothing special, specially for the price! The Cantonese Chow Mein barely had any flavour, vegetables were crispy! At the end I asked the waitress what percentage of Asian people go to the restaurant to eat, she replied we serve about 10% Asian, not a lot come here! Having worked with Asian people since young, one tale tale sign that the food and that the restaurant is good, is that they support the restaurant and a lot of them go there to eat! Dietary restrictions: They acomódate to your restrictions Parking: Plenty of parking Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible wheelchair entrance.
We eat here all the time - Service and food are excellent
I love this place so much, the food is absolutely delicious and the sushi is so fresh.
I like going here for the food and the vibe but the hostess and some of the servers can be quite curt and that usually kills the mood. But otherwise all good.
Very nice food and atmosphere
This is my go to sushi spot in Ottawa. The quality of the food is amazing. Kevin was our server and the service is always great. I highly recommend :)
The most favorite place for me to get great sushi rolls and be happy for the rest of the day
We came here yesterday (May 8) and the hostess was super cute - she was so nice and smiley, lovely way to start your restaurant experience! Our server was also so nice and lovely - an older gentleman (we didn t get his name). Food was phenomenal, always so good!!
Great sushi, I will definitely get it again when I m in the area. I would like to note that their Dynamite roll is not a dynamite roll. It does show the description below the name, but it s basically a deluxe salmon california roll. The Dynamite roll is a western thing and ALWAYS has tempura shrimp/prawn, unless you go here. The roll was great, but I wouldn t have got the salmon avocado with it had I known. Next time you adjust the menu, I would strongly suggest changing the name of the roll. Still rated 5 stars because the sushi is good and so the restaurant atmosphere and service.
This was the only restaurant where we loved the food. We went for dinner last night were unfortunately disappointed. The lemon chicken breading was different and looked like it had been cooked too many times. The vegetable chow main was floating in a watery brown sauce and no taste. We leave from outside Ottawa East because of the food. If they don t go back to cooking the food like they use to do, then this was our last visit.
Love the food here, it s one of our go-tos! Their orange dragon rolls are amazing and their portions of fish on the nigiri are massive compared to most places
The service was fantastic, the food was delicious and the ambiance in the restaurant was very nice.
Food is as always amazing, but one of the biggest reasons we come back is because of the Bartender/Waitress Chris! She works so hard and actually takes the time to know what the customer wants. She makes suggestions according to your preferences and makes changes accordingly! Girl needs a big raise!!! :)
2023 May 3 A nice large open restaurant serving Chinese course meals and Japanese Sushi. Szechuan Chicken $18 Not bad, though the heat from the peppers are tamed and not quite fully Szechuan. Black Pepper Beef$19 Not as much black pepper flavored as I like, but was pretty flavorful. Peppersalt Tofu $18 An egg style tofu, making it very soft. Deep fried and then stir fried with salt and peppers. Not what is typical, but it was decent. Vegetable Chow Mein $17 Very typical. Nothing bad. Coconut Curry Seafood $21 Was ok. Heavy on the coconut versus the curry. The food itself was fairly good given a large menu typically means quantity of selection versus quality of each selection. Flavor profiles are toned down, more mellow and suited for everyones tastes. Nothing overwhelmingly amazing that stands out. Given the large dining area and patio space, this is a decent spot for groups. Free parking in the plaza.
Great vegan menu. We had a spectacular waitress and food was fast and tasty
Our server Cass was excellent. She knew the menu well, understood my preferences, took my modified order, and the meal was amazing. Delicious, hot, large portion, and she even brought extra hot sauce and chili oil before the meal arrived. My best experience yet, at Bambu. And Cass even chatted with us . Great job Cass. Vegetarian options: I had the vegan PAD Thai. It was excellent.
I would say dont order their honey garlic ribs, the meat was so hard, it looks like a leftover ribs from the past few days, the server shes great, she always makes apologies to us because she took our order very late because we are waiting from her about 30 minutes. So, I will not recommend you order a pork honey garlic ribs.
First time customer. Tried various dishes; like fried noodles, fried rice, and a few sushi dishes. Everything was quite delicious. But the sushi was exceptional. They have a Sunday sushi buffet and I want to try that next time.
Food was not bad. Spring rolles and riverside role very good. Egg roll, not so much. Also, the server almost poured my wine in a very dirty glass...
We went there for fathers day dinner. As soon as we entered the lady at the reception asked if we have reservations- she didnt look happy when we said no. She then gave us a table which was left unattended for like 10 mins...finally after 10 mins somebody came and took our order. Food came 20-25 mins after we placed an order. The taste OMG!! It was terrible!! totally blend...no salt.... absolutely nothing!! Btw we had also ordered an appetizer which came 10 mins after we finished our main meal. Appetizer we ordered were egg rolls and sushi (sushi never came) and egg rolls were completely burned that we had to return. We then called manager to talk to- he was nice decent guy who did hear our concerns and apologized for everything! Also the lady that served us was really nice and friendly.
Great food and service.
Great service. Lots of great vegetarian options Vegetarian options: lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Food : 5/5 |
Service, quality, quantity and the food is superb. But simple menu no photo etc..., so a little difficult to understand the first time
We didnt get any napkins or utensils to eat with! Lack of details like this is not ok.
Good Service, waitress was amazing, food is very tasty, the restaurant itself is great to sit in, stylish. Will come again.
Horrible experience. Wont ever go back again!
Weve had some fun and good times at Bambu restaurant, but last nights Anniversary Dinner was a disappointment. The server was snappy and rushed and literally ran away from us 3 times during our order saying: Ill give you 5 minutes!. I got the wrong soup, and my husbands Shanghai noodles were very greasy and bland. The preprogrammed tip options of 18, 21, and 25% didnt seem to fit the level of service received. The Sushi, soup, and tempura were good. Service has been excellent other times with a much more experienced and friendlier server. Perhaps the new hires can get some hospitality and friendliness training?
One of the best places Ive ever eaten at. You MUST try the hunan dumplings (as long as you dont have a peanut allergy). You wont regret it!!!
Great service, sushi and noodle dishes and appetizers all very good.
A rather unfortunate waste of money and calories. The teriyaki and the chow mein were gloopy and soaked in mediocre sauce, and the sushi was just so-so. For the price it was extremely disappointing, and we will not return. The vegetables were fresh, at least. Food
Food was great. Separate gluten free menu with good allergy knowledge.
Slightly above average Chinese food at significantly above average prices. Probably wont come back again just because its not really worth it for what you get. Service was also kinda lackluster. Despite there being less than five tables it seems a server barely came around
Best sushi in town
The sushi here is amazing!!! Will definitely be back!
Friendly service and tasty food.
The sushi I ordered was okay, but Ive definitely had better elsewhere. What was disappointing was the wait time for our food; it took quite a while to arrive. On the positive side, the ambiance was great, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere.
Great, as always. Fish was super fresh.
Delicious sushi. Great staff.
We had a wonderful experience visiting Bambu for the first time. The staff was informative and helpful. They can accommodate a celiac-friendly diet and have a relatively broad GF menu. Everything was fresh and super tasty!
I definitely didnt have good experience there. We ordered a coconut chicken curry and it does not come with rice which you have to order it separately. Servant didnt come to ask us for appetizers and I have to ask them to refilled the water. With the same price you can find better asian food in Ottawa area. Definitely wont come back here again.
Wonderful restaurant. Consistently delicious.
We asked to be seated outside, then we waited 20 minutes until someone came to our table. Every vegetable dish we wanted to order she told us it had chicken or fish in it. So, we skipped the soups, and the vegetables in coconut sauce. She told us all the soups had chicken, the miso had fish and the coconut vegetables also had fish in them. We were looking for vegetarian food and it was not to be had. Absolutely terrible service, the entire meal.
Good spot. Service was friendly and quick. We had some appetizers and a main plate to share. It was good. We will have to come back to try the sushi! We tried the shrimp spring roll, crispy beef and Singapore noodles I think it was.
There are other better restaurants. So don t waste an evening there.
You go to a Jamaican restaurant, you expect some sort of Caribbean staff/chefs. You go to a Chinese restaurant you expect Asian staff/chefs. You go to a Japanese restaurant and you see the staff making the sushi rolls are white teenage girls. Should you second guess it and question the skill and authenticity of the sushi being made? 100%. This is the worst sushi Ive eaten in Ottawa. $40 per person for AYCE. We ordered several rolls including the grilled salmon roll, crispy salmon roll, dynamite and a few others in our pictures. The sushi was clearly not fresh and most of the maki rolls were mushy. On the Riverside roll The presentation of the sushi looked like they just slapped on an old piece of salmon on top and drenched it in sauce. The shrimp tempura batter was thick and tasted like a pogo corn dog and was not crispy. I literally pulled apart most of the batter to eat the shrimp inside as the batter was soft and tasteless. The sticky rice tasted old and foul. Sweet n sour chicken was surprisingly not bad. And the Szechuan crispy beef was sweet but drenched in sauce. I had high expectations for this place seeing it on Instagram and seeing that they offer AYCE on Sundays. Walking inside the restaurant, the ambience looked great and inviting and our server was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. But overall, it was an absolute disappointment and it the food was poor quality. We didnt finish our food because it just became inedible.
The sushi and dishes are completely incredible! On the other hand, there is one or two waitresses for the entire restaurant. There were mistakes and we had to look for her to tell her because she simply doesnt come back to see us once the dishes have been brought.
Great food, but really small portion sizes for the price. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free menu Food : 5/5 Parking options
I have been coming to this place for 4 years now, food is still amazing, no questions asked. But please fix your faucets in ladies washroom. Why only 1/3 works? Why only cold water barely dropping? Thank you.
Tiny portions, underwhelming flavours, disinterested staff. Way over-priced. I feel Bambu-zzled. Food : 3/5
This restaurant has a trendy feel to it. I was here for a private banquet event, so my review is not about a regular dining experience. The sushi was excellent, and the salmon rolls were my favourite. The beef dish was awesome, mixed with tender vegetables and perfect gravy sauce. I was not thrilled by the spring rolls, though -- only because I prefer pork egg rolls, so not because they tasted bad. I had an amazing Caesar from the bar with the right amount of spiciness. I think the kitchen was overwhelmed by the amount of guests, because the buffet ran out of food faster than they could refill it. Overall, I absolutely loved the venue. Highly recommended for corporate events or any private celebrations because they were able to wall off half the restaurant.
Fresh and delicious sushi and rice wraps. Can also recommend the Tom Yum Goong soup and Thai Basil Beef. Service was good, but 2 servers would have been nice for our large group. Dietary restrictions: Safe GF options, including soy sauce.
Considerate and friendly staff, and a good variety of options! The fish was fresh and sushi in good portions. Both warm and cold dishes available, a good place for sushi of higher quality than AYCE places or from the grocery store
Vegetarian options: Quite a few Food
My partner and I came for lunch yesterday and it was an incredible experience all around. We got the house pad Thai, egg rolls and a black dragon roll, the food was deliciously cooked and incredibly fresh. The atmosphere was inviting and our server gave us some of the best service we have ever received, despite the busy rush. If you ever go to Bambu, ask to be in Elly s section - she will definitely make your experience worth while. 10/10 recommend!
We had the best time at all you can enjoy on Sunday evening. Kevin was hands down the best server ever. He helped us navigate the menu and made sure we chose the best items. We definitely ordered too much food because the food portions here are much larger than most all you can eat places BUT Kevin knew it was our first time visiting this restaurant and so kindly gave us a few to go boxes. He did let us know that this is not usually allowed but he was making an exception only because it was our first time. Loved Kevin, loved the food, loved this restaurant. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
We were treated to very tasty foods, suggested by our very knowing server. Kudos to bambu!!
The fish was very fresh, and the portion was excellent . Great service, great food
Sushi so good, delicious
The food was ok. Very bland, even a spicy dish was mellow. The music was horrid and way too loud. Parking: Very convenient
