Breakfast was good. A little pricey, but large portions.

First time, excellent service from Dean (who is always behind the counter or working the tables) and his staff. Great value, great food, will come back for sure for breakfast or lunch.

5 of us were there this past Sunday .The place is not that big and there was plenty of staff so no excuse for very slow service( other than the young women who served coffee).We were there 1 hr before food arrived that had sat in the warm up rack in the kitchen for sometime so everything was cold.My BLT had 2 very small ends of tomato and 1 cut up slice of bacon.Clearly compared to normal Sunset Grill in the Beach this was a poor excuse for using the name.Well this will be a never again for the Ottawa location for all I advise avoid this spot

Overpriced for such subpar food. If I could un-eat it, I would. Not going back. $80 for two people after 2 $5 add ons and a juice to two omelette meals. They forced 18% gratuity which seemed ridiculous, especially considering we waited 15 minutes just to be acknowledged at our table and the food took almost 30 minutes to get to our table. Maybe just pay your workers appropriately.

We were seated and after 10 plus minutes no one came to offer us water or coffee notwithstanding people who came in after us were served. Very poor service. We got up and left the 5 of us. Itll be a long time before we consider going back.

Clean, good staffed, and conveniently located. The only thing to keep in mind that parking on the street is limited to 1 hour - people were fined $80 for exceeding the time.

We were waiting to use the washroom today at around 2pm with our baby it s the only washroom with a change table. The LADY THAT WORKS THERE, comes out and we go in there s a CLOUD OF SMOKE THAT MY BABY WAS INHALING. Assuming she probably vaped. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE I WOULD NEVER GO THERE Service

One of the worst breakfast ive ever had to pay for, potatoes were terrible, just boiled and tasted fishy, sausages felt like boiled canned sausages, waitress didnt even ask how the food was, she mustve known it was bad tbh

We visited the location in TOR three years ago and my daughter has raved that it was the best French Toast shes ever had. We were thrilled to find a location in Ottawa. We had breakfast there one day and lunch the next! Love the staff, super friendly and the food is amazing!

Fantastic experience at the Grill! Food was 10/10 and service was second to none! Our server Sara and her fellow staff made sure we had everything we need and never let my coffee cup see the bottom. I will defiantly make this a regular spot for my family! Cheers !

Had a great time. It was busy when we arrived but we got seats within minutes. We had the avocado toast, blueberry pancakes with bacon and french connection with turkey bacon. Everything tasted great and the service was fast and friendly!

25 dollars for breakfast has to be very good simply wasnt. Please put the actual cost of your breakfast including a coffee or tea on your menu otherwise your 15 dollar bacon and eggs turns into 25 at the cash. Comes off as a con job

Always great food, great prices and staff

We spent 11 days at the mens world curling in Ottawa. Found the sunset grill the second day and ate there 7 times. Best place!! Recommended it to others at the rink and they shared our opinion. The manager was visible at all times and was great, and our waitress Sarah was phenomenal. Thank you for a great experience Would recommend to everyone

Super disappointed in my recent visit to sunset grill but only because of the food, the staff and service was excellent. The food however, was cold- tasted like it was microwaved. It was dull, portion was okay, it just didnt taste fresh nor good. The bacon even tasted microwaved. I was shocked because I know the kitchen is right there, open concept, but the taste did not represent freshly made food. The salmon plate was shocking. It was 2-3 slices of grey old looking smoked salmon, that came with 3 packaged cream cheese. Barely toasted bagel just sits there in a plate on the side and you build it. It just looks awful and the presentation made me not want to eat it. I just dont understand how a restaurant with this type of location and constant customers has this level of quality? Unfortunate. Again, really sweet staff and bottomless coffee so that was a plus. Do better!

It was alright

Aweful Manager was arguing with me regarding my meal that was unsatisfactory. I returned it and second time found a hair and eggs were cold and rubbery. He said he can only take the coffees off for that and accused me that the hair was mine and i are half of the order. In which i have because it cold and gross. On mothers day! too! Not impressed and he was so disrespectful. He ruined my day. Good note the Waiter was awesome and patient. A great waiter to have. Shame on you Dean Stresman.

Service was good, waitress was busy and forgot a couple of things, but still super friendly. Food was mediocre however, and quite bland. Would not recommend if your looking for any sort of flavour in your food.

Nothing special. Food took a long time, and the potatoes were undercooked and meh. Plus their breakfasts dont include coffee, so thats an extra $3.

Service for take out was poor- the food came after 25 minutes and had to wait another additional 5 minutes for our watered down coffees. The iced coffee came from an open topped pitcher in their fridge. My partners wrap eventually came with spoiled spinach and they couldnt eat more than a bite.

First time experience here. I was craving a hearty breakfast in the middle of the day. We were at Landsdown and saw it was busy so thought why not. I was craving a hearty breakfast, and that was not what I got. I thought for the time we waited the food would be better. The potatoes were half cooked, I loved that they were skin on, but they could be crispy or even cooked more. The hollandaise somehow had no flavour, and the meat in the poutine was so tiny and sadly portioned you couldnt even taste it. All around bland food, kinda tasted like food youd get in a hospital. It was edible but just sad and not what I look forward to in a breakfast place. The food too such a long time to come out and they kept refilling our cups with Luke warm tap water when they had ice the first refill. Just weird, sad food.

Always a classic diner breakfast with cheerful service

Quality of food is absolutely horrendous. The eggs I order over easy,. They were literally just cooked on one side till there were rubberized, ask for well done sausage, came to me burnt, I wanted chewy bacon, it came to me barley cooked. I highly recommend not going there until they get proper cooks

Been here a few times now and I always come out full and happy. Ive brought a couple different friends and gone by myself and every time was exactly what we needed. The place overall is clean and smells so delicious. The staff was the perfect level of attentiveness while giving you space to enjoy your meal . The food was very tasty and priced well. Excellent place to have a nice breakfast/brunch/lunch .

This is one of the few breakfast places that serves real sugar free syrup. Some places only serve the ED Smith brand that is full of fructose which is straight sugar. Sunset Grill serves the Steves brand that does not contain either glucose or fructose. Hats off to Sunset for being so thoughtful and to our wonderful waitress Megan. She is such a joy.

We went there yesterday around 1pm ! Our server was just over it ,she was just flat ! Our meal was dry and we ordered 2 sides of hollandaise sauce and it was just oil basically! We ve been here a couple of times ,it just sucks that messed it up when I brought in my in-laws from the US !

Our first visit to this place left us quite disappointed. We ordered pancakes for the kid, coffee for the adults, and eggs with sausage and potatoes on the side. Unfortunately, our experience began on the wrong foot as we received coffee cups with dirty spoons inside. We requested a replacement but didnt receive an apology for the oversight. The pancakes were a major letdown, lacking any discernible taste. Only the sweet whipped cream and jelly on the side made them palatable for our child. Despite the crowded scene with people waiting in line, this initial experience left us with no desire to return.

decided to try this place as it seemed busy, what a mistake. the food was absolutely horrendous. i have no idea how people eat here. only good thing was the toast ! never again.

Fair prices Some details on the service 1) The coffee refils were getting offered while we still had coffee in our mugs and then nobody coming to check on us while the cups were empty and coffee needed 2) When a member of staff was requested for coffee, was given a polite but stern reply that shes not responsible for our seating area, but that she will get us coffee if she gets the chance. 3) The meal took 25 minutes to prepare. For a breakfast type place that serves mostly eggs, that is a very long time.

My wife and I are from the London,UK .We ,fancied a break from our morning walk around the park .We,happened to POP IN into this beautiful ,clean ,richly coffee smelling aroma and all the invisible wellcoming signs around the staff in the restaurant.The staff ,Lawrie ,Sarah and Deen were hugely friendly,smilingly introduced themselves,used our names too ,gave us enough time to settle down. We, took note of their suggestions regarding breakfast .Lawrie was just amazingky friendly and customer friendly,too. Our coffee was heavenly and heart warming for a starter.The breakfast was just awesomely delicious ,clean ,warm and truly appreciated totally.We,will be coming back some day for sure before flying back to the UK.It was the most amazing experience,we have ever had from a retail outlet.Very well trained staff.The whole site was just clinically clean and totally virus free.We,wish Deen,Lawrie and Sarah every good luck for the future.The,pricing was truly very reasonable,too.SUNSET GRILL is ONE of the 7th WONDERS that is so widely spoken about in the universe.

Been to a lot of sunsets and this one was really disappointing. Waitress was eager to show off her missing pres on nails. No coffee refills, or weekday specials like other sunset grills. Greasy cold home fries, good toast and eggs. Not great.

Food was tasty, however, service was less than stellar. Our waitress interacted with us twice during our visit; once to take out order and then at then at the very end after being flagged down to get the bill. I understand weekends are busy but overall the service felt lacking. I was very excited to have a sunset grill nearby after visiting many locations in toronto, however, the landsdowne location in ottawa seems to operate chaotically. Will try again in the future based on the food being good and positive experiences in toronto, but was disappointed in this visit.

Great breakfasts and friendly staff. Coffee is a staple of breakfast, and unfortunately, the house blend just isnt great. Id recommend bringing in new roasts or supporting a local coffee roaster in Canada.

A nice selection of lunch/dinner. At the time we went there was a big crowd and the waitresses were overwhelmed. We enjoyed being able to eat outside at one of the available tables. The meal was OK although a little too salty for my taste.

Excellent quality food. For instance, the bacon was nice and thick, not that paper thin stuff you sometimes get at restaurants. The salmon on my wifes eggs Benedict was also real, cooked salmon and not just packaged smoked salmon. On top of all that, the prices were pretty reasonable given the top quality food. Well be back!

Great place. I wish there was a side order for fruits on the menu, though. Water by default would be nice too. Waited 25 min, which was alright because it s a nice area to walk. Great service.

Little bit of a wait, but we came at brunch time on a Saturday. I ordered and the Meatlovers poutine...I regret this life choice. SOOOOO FULL! but oh my gods was it delicious! The Flesh goblins had pancakes from the kids menu (solid btw) and the Mrs had the bacon & sausage breakfast and couldnt finish it. Coffee is pretty solid which is really important for a diner. Yeah, will definitely return here. I highly recommend.

The waitress ripped me off! She asked if I would like some maple syrup with the pancakes, without mentioning it was an extra cost and charged me 10$ for it. It should be logical that any pancakes come with free condiments, or at least she should have told me it was extra. What a scam!

Love the restaurant, but unfortunately they made mistakes on a dish (had pork when we asked for a non-meat dish), and gave away a second dish by mistake to another client. Took about 45 mins to get our food.

Breakfast and service here is always great. This weekend there was an electronic dance music festival and large farmers market happening in the area. If they were understaffed I didnt notice. Ian (my server) was wonderful but he was berated by one table of customers for being a young guy. His supervisor and other staff did the right thing for Ian and other patrons by asking them to leave.

Right at TD Place (Landsdown). Great food at very reasonable prices. The coffee never ran out and the atmosphere was bright and the Sunset Super should come with a take home box automatically!

Very expensive food for regular food you can make at home. Juices tasted like they came from a carton instead of being fresh. The front had piles of customer food waiting to be delivered, but the two servers there were taking orders instead of delivering, adding to the colossal pile of food. Very bad management and use of time as we had to wait an eternity to get our food.

15 minutes before someone asked what we want to have. 30 min wait for food, half the order arrived cold and they didnt start the rest. Took another 20 minutes for the rest to arrive. Second time this happens

I consistently have a great brunch here, the food is honestly always good, but one thing that got me to leave a review is the excellent hostess we had on Sunday afternoon (Oct 16, 2022). The place was slammed because there was a hockey game that afternoon and she was managing things like an absolute pro, totally on top of things, moving tables around just to get us a table, she is exactly the kind of person you want running the place. She was very friendly, efficient, and went above and beyond to get people seated and happy. We waited a little bit and she even came over after she had moved a table to seat us to make sure all was well and we were happy. I did not get her name but she really is a star player. We also never felt rushed and really enjoyed our food. She deserves a raise! Thanks for an excellent Sunday brunch.

Arrived and seated myself as instructed by the sign and was told they would be right over. 20 min later..still waiting luckily my company was also late so the lack of service saved me from drinking several coffees while waiting. Food was so slow 2 out of 3 plates arrived cold. They went back but not the toast. Food returned and had to be eaten with cold toast. They dont deliver the food when it is set out by cook. There is a huge pile of food getting cold. It wasnt that busy...it was a friday morning. We dont complain but this was a bust. Would not return/recommend. Sucks because it has a cute vibe

The food was excellent and well done. Often breakfast places will serve cheap fries, terrible scrabble eggs. Sunset Grill really makes things fresh. The fries were excellent, the pancakes were great, the French toast were awesome and the scrambled eggs were amazing! I would highly recommend!

If you are a military member, do not visit. We had returned from the Remembrance Day ceremony and were completely ignored the entire time, except when we asked twice for extra coffee, to then get extra hot water. The food was over priced, no one cared or acknowledged my veteran spouse who I wanted to treat out to breakfast. Very pricey food. Very disappointed with the ignorance. Shameful. If it wasn t for the military, we wouldn t have the freedom we see today. So thank the next military person you see for their service.

Today, the Sunset Grill restaurant was already busy with adults and children, when I arrived at 10:30am. There is NO ROOM FOR WHEELCHAIRS or WALKERS the waitress informed me there was a 20 minute wait. I got a table for 2 for my friend and the staff was happy :) even when we ordered our meal.

Very disappointing breakfast this morning; scrambled eggs were over cooked and gray color, sides were cold but toasts were good. They advertise an early bird special but was charged full price due to the inexperience of our waiter. Doubt I would go back.

We just ordered brunch meals, Canadian omlette and French toast. I must say it was veeeery disappointing. First of all, they forgot to give us the bread which was a part of order. Also potatoes were so blend. it was hard to eat it without salt or ketchup which made it taste a lot unhealthier. I don t think I will go back.

Food is really good, pretty fresh and relatively priced. Though we had one bad experience when we had a take out order that had an item missing. We came back which was a 15 minute walk both ways and the server simply gave us our missing food and we were sent out.

Best staff and best place to have breakfast in Ottawa. Have been coming here for 4-5 years and they always have been great.

We visited the Sunset Grill for the first time on the first day of step three re-opening. The service was great. We expected a bit of a learning curve environment but we re treated to first class attention. We never had to ask for refills and the food was excellent!

Our inital experiences of breakfast at this place were nice and satisfactory. However, yesterday I made a tiny request to the server to have my fries well done as I don t like slimy home fries. The order was served with the same cold slimy home fries. When brought to the waitress s attention that the order was not served as requested, they got extremely rude and mad at us. Mentioned that the kitchen is too busy to customize my order. Took away my plate in an angry manner to replace my fries. While we were eating another waitress showed up saying that next time they will not make my fries well done and we re not welcome to the restaurant if we come with such requests. Oh Lord, extraordinarily complicated request eh! We were shocked to see after-effects of our tiny request. Felt as if we committed a crime for asking welldone crispy fries lol. Generally we have noticed that some of their waitresses are rude at this location. Which is why whenever we had a nice and polite waitress, I walked over to Dean, the manager, for recommendation and appreciate her efforts. Not sure if we will go back again.

Food is good but what is impressive is the amount of options on the menu. Any breakfast you want you can probably build and the price is not too high.

Went on a Monday morning and it really wasnt very busy, but it took over 30 minutes before we could place our orders. The server was very friendly, but seemed very overwhelmed despite the fact that only about 6 tables were occupied (spread between 3 or 4 servers). I ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was served with the eggs fried instead of poached which was not great; I would have preferred the traditional poached eggs. The home fried were cooked in some oil which left a taste on them that wasnt overly pleasant. My friend had the chocolate chip pancakes and they were perfectly fine. Overall the food was adequate and well priced, but I would probably not return.

The staff were nice but service was very slow, we ordered right when we got in but we ended up leaving without eating because 45 minutes had passed and we still had no food. We ordered eggs, potatoes and pancakes which isnt long to make... We parked in a spot that was for 1hr since Sunset dont validate parking at Landsdowne, which is the reason we had to leave. Very frustrating experience.

Went for my birthday breakfast with my sisters expecting a good meal and it was terrible. I ordered Eggs Benedict. The eggs were not poached, the English muffin was rock hard and it swimming in a thick and tasteless sauce. I mentioned this to the server. She said she would inform the cook. I would have appreciated if I was given the option to order something else. Did not eat the meal. Not worth the money I paid. I will not go back.

I took my mom to lunch today her omelette have to be sent back and the home fries were very greasy. The only reason why Im giving two stars is because my pancakes were good. Also the fruit salad was mediocre definitely was not worth $8 Very disappointed will not be returning.

I recently moved into the area and this is my favourite spot for brunch. The food is amazing and the staff is very nice and always checking in on you to make sure you don t need anything else! Highly recommend.

The best pancake served in this restaurant

The owner told me that the waitress with the awesome tats was fiery. I beg to differ, I think she is smokin hot. Yesterday morning we didnt get off to a great start, but after I ate a slice of humble pie, the owner(who I have to give a nod to here, due to his hands on approach to his business) made everything right. I will definitely be back for another breakfast, and will be sure to leave myself enough time in case they are as busy as they were this morning.

Very good breakfast spot. Atmosphere was very bright and welcoming, staff were always there for whatever we needed. The food was about as good as Id expect from a breakfast place. Eggs were much better than most places weve been to. Home fries were a bit greasier than were used to, and could have been more crispy. They were, however, well seasoned. Overall we give this place a solid 7/10, will be back!

Food is good and staff is very hardworking. Management needs to hire more people to support the good staff they have on.

Overall solid breakfast place. Really good value for money. Open early (7am). Omelets are like 5 eggs and come with a whole bunch of hashbrowns. Eggs were cooked well and definitely not overcooked. Potatoes were not as crispy as some and a bit greasy. Gluten free toast option available (although not coeliac friendly due to potential for cross contamination). Honestly was surprised by how good their coffee was (I drink it black).

Nice place for breakfast mornings. Give yourself time when u visit here, it may be crowded & people waiting to be seated. Food is delicious & good portion. Parking may be hectic

Absolutely amazing experience at the Landsdowne Sunset Grill. Extremely friendly staff, and I felt comfortable as they had great cleaning protocols in place. The owner was also lovely! Great way to watch our Sunday football with a tasty meal!

This is a great place to eat breakfast when your in Ottawa. The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. This is my new favorite breakfast place!

Absolutely love Sunset Grill. Delicious food with great portions. Even better than the food however is the fantastic customer service I recieve time and time again from the wonderful staff. A special shoutout to Sara, Laurie, Sadir and Don for making sure my breakfast was extra delicious this morning. I couldnt recommend Sunset Grill at Lansdowne enough!

Takeout was a breeze and very accommodating. COVID policies are in place for dining in. We placed an order for take out and I must say every base was covered. Everything we needed was packaged so well, we didn t need to think about it. Thank you for a great takeout experience.

First time ordering through Uber and received a mouldy bun. Beware. Totally unacceptable!! McDonalds can do better food safety!! Refunded with no credit.

First and far most the staff was amazing and super friendly !! Then on top of that the food was great and we got good portions too. The restaurant is small, but the staff is super efficient so there is a good customer turnover. The restaurant is also located in a super cute outdoor mall type area, so you can walk around and shop while you wait to get in and eat! :)

Food was delicious and great portions for the price. I love the turkey bacon here it s a nice option they offer. Absolutely amazing staff working at this location! There wasn t a second where we were waiting for anything we didn t have, water always full and our needs were always meet and exceeded. I will definitely be back!

Disappointing. Overpriced underwhelming diner food. Over pay for your eggs and then get charged extra for the coffee. You would be better served and at any mom and pop diner in any city.

I have been going there frequently for breakfast. Staff are very nice, foods are well prepared and taste great, unlimited amount of coffee refill, simple yet nice decors. Great restaurant in general!

Our serving staff was fantastic. I wish I got her name to properly acknowledge her. She made the meal fun. The meal itself was delicious! Malted waffles is where its at!
