3 Irving Ave, Ottawa, ON K1Y 2X8, Canada
Craft beer brewed on-site, along with sandwiches & snacks, offered in a hip environment.
8 beers on tap to choose from, with 5oz pours available. As a non fan of IPAS, these IPAs were among the best I've tasted. Their American Brown Ale was supreme. Hands down winner. Ok merch selection and the staff was friendly but not exactly engaging. Decent food menu though I didn't try anything. Overall, you should go.
Are we the only ones who came here just for the food lol? It was late on a Thursday night, my husband and I and our dog were walking around after an Urban Art Collective Night Market nearby, and we were hungry. Tooth and Nail was open and they allowed us to sit in their outside seating area with our dog. We are not into beer, and we weren’t sure if the food menu here would be an afterthought. We were very pleasantly surprised! We got the Caprese sandwich and the Chicken Pesto sandwich—both were excellent, and each came with a great side salad. In addition, the service was friendly, the outside seating area was really pleasant on a seasonable night, and the staff was welcoming to our dog. This is a true neighborhood gem. We will definitely be back!
Really nice spot. I hade one of the house beers which was served at a good temperature quickly. It was very refreshing. I had the sous vide beef sandwich which was excellent. The side salad was really nice too. The inside tables are shared so you may make new friends. They have some separate tables and a good sized bar area.
A small quaint brewery in a charming location in Westboro. I was lucky to score a place on the patio, but there is also space inside to drink. I opted for a flight and a pint when there. Exile Pale Ale was my personal favorite. They do serve food, but I wasn't there to eat. If I was back in the area I wouldn't hesitate to go back and visit. Staff are fun, easy going and attentive. There isn't parking there so you'll have to find a place on the street.
I've been coming here now and then for a couple of years. The food used to be "Fair food", like hot dogs and really not much to get excited about - basically what bars legally have to have to sell alcohol. That's no longer true. They just changed their menu a few months back. I stopped in because I wanted a sandwich and they were nearby. That's the pic with the larger pepperoncinis. Basic flavours - basil pesto, aged cheddar, confit grape tomatoes. Toasted, fresh roll. This is a truly world-class sandwich. I had to come back to try it again. Today, the same sandwich was exactly the same but less toasted. Pros and cons to each, I love it. 9.1 - this is one of the best sandwiches in Ottawa. Subito, di Rienzo, Sherwood - Tooth and Nail needs to be listed with the greats. My girlfriend got the vegan friendly Pinsa, the base is an herbed tahini. Also exceptional. Already a great brewery with great beer, now the food is ridiculously delicious. I will be back to try to the beef dip next.

The brewery's cozy interior, with its low lighting and wooden accents, instantly makes you feel at home. Whether you're looking for a quiet evening with friends or a casual date night, this brewery offers a memorable experience that leaves you appreciating the art of brewing and the joy of simplicity.
This brewery has a wonderful selection of in-house brewed beer. If you are coming for the beer, you should not be disappointed! The food menu leaves something to be desired; the options are limited and preparation quality is average.
Best brewery in Ottawa. Had a brown ale, their Vim and Vigor pilsner, and tried another IPA. All three were incredible, and I ended up staying longer than expected. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, where I can see myself coming for a beer and reading a book to kill time.
Great atmosphere very good beer! just tried their food its very good !!!
A fantastic glass of water, maybe the best in hintonburg Best brewery specialized in anything other than IPAs in Ottawa. You like a german/east euro pils or Belgian table beer or saison this is the spot. Food : 5/5
Tooth and Nail is the real deal. Fortitude stout is the best stout Ive had anywhere and any time I am in Ottawa I have to stop here.
Very rude staff!!!
Tooth and Nail make some of the best beers in the area. A few great hoppy beers, but they have one of the best pilsners in Ontario (Vim and Vigor). Their one offs have been amazing (Steif - their brett IPA was so good). Overall great beer and a great tasting room.
Amazing beer. Highly recommend a visit
Great beer, delicious snacks, and wonderful ambiance. But mostly wanted to give a shoutout to the wonderful server who improvised a takeout container for my chips and dip, you re an angel!
Worst service oml
Great place to relax and have a couple drinks
Best Pilsner in Ottawa!
Fantastic brews, amazingly knowledgeable and kind staff, and the interior is super cozy and fun. I also made the mistake of losing my bag there (I mightve underestimated the Red Mosquito beer lol), and the staff safely held onto it for me to until the next day. If youre looking for a fun night out with some super delicious beer, Tooth and Nail is the place! Dont spend your money anywhere else, seriously!
5 stars for the product, but not for the service :( Will not come back unfortunately, French does not seem to be appreciated!
Good beers, nice staff, been coming here for years. I have to say their menu has come such a long way in terms of snacks no more underwhelming hot dogs, we now have wonderful beef dip brie sandwich, cured sausages plates, cheese plates and even little pizzas/pinsa romanas. I miss the cheese dip with the pretzel though.
Their new beer Exile is SO GOOD, 12/10. Our server was so sweet and kind. Great place.
I did not love this place. The patio was decent but the staff were unpleasant. I was there with a large group of 16 and, even though we were the only people on the patio on a rainy Saturday afternoon, they had a rule that they wouldnt allow any movement of tables (and chairs!) which was strictly enforced. Wouldnt go back.
Try the Breezehill Rosé!
Very hip place. Cool vibes inside. Nice selection of beers on tap
Great spot to grab a drink, the atmosphere is cozy, friendly and always a mix of families, coworkers and neighbourhood locals. Worth checking out if youre in the area!
This place is awesome! Good, balanced selection of beers available; exceptionally friendly staff, and a convenient bottle shop right at the door. We visited for the first time on Sunday and were treated like regulars by the helpful, friendly servers and manager. Several years later, this place is still a go-to on Wellington Street for excellent beer and great service!
Awesome. First time there. Food was great! Had the NON Hawaiian pizza. Staff were great and friendly and the atmosphere was awesome. It wont be the last time here
Nice atmosphere and great beer!
This is a must go place, amazing pizza and incredible friendly service--
My absolute favourite brewery and pub in Ottawa. Awesome beer, super friendly staff and cozy chill vibe. Sweet little patio in the summer too! Try the Fortitude stout on nitro, you won t regret it. Also a great place to hang out solo with a book at the bar.
We came here with some family. The beer and food is great! The service was okay. My husband ordered a sandwich which initially didnt come. It was missed by the server but it was rectified quickly. Mistakes happen.
I ve been here a dozen times and I always have a good time. Friendly staff, great beer, and a fun atmosphere
Great beer, good food, cute patio, and super cool interior.
Great venue! Super deceiving from the outside, which looks quaint and cozy, this place is quite large. Its incredibly clean. Has a great ambience inside. Service was top notch! Very knowledgeable staff and brew master. Delicious beer and yummy bar snacks. Thanks for a great afternoon. We really enjoyed our tasting!
Friendly nieghbourhood brewery. We were first ones upon opening so not much happening. Steady flow of customers being cans to go. Parking: Street parking limit on the amount of time to park (2 hours)
Great good, amazing hotdogs , service was fantastic. Beautiful interior and patio
One of our favorite breweries in the city. Beer is exceptional and staff are always super friendly. Would never hesitate to go here for drinks and snacks. To go beers is always a bonus to take home.
Great place to pop into
Very good beer, great happy hour from 4-6 PM that keeps us coming back
They have a rotating selection of beers, and you cant go wrong with any of them. You can get tasters so you can try a bit of everything. Competitively priced for the area. Great vibes. I Racommend !
Great place to hangout. The place is bigger than it looks.
Nice relaxed atmosphere. Love having them in the neighborhood and its great having a brewery that isnt obsessed with heavy hops!
Great beer and service. Food options could be a bit better. How about a handful of chips with the hot dog...or some simple chips and salsa? Easy peasy, right.
Nice place
Wonderful local brewery, one of the best in Ottawa. Ive been here many times for take out from the bottle shop and/or sit down service. Staff are always even when the place is packed. In the warmer months, their front patio is a favourite. Great interior ambiance as well.
Great spot! The beer is fantastic and the new menu added this week brings this place to a new level. These pinsa Romana are delicious. Ill be coming here on the regular..best kept secret in the city..!!
Great service, tasty beer and a lovely ambience.
Tooth and Nail is a fantastic craft beer place, in part because the beer is legitimately good, but mostly because the atmosphere is excellent and everyone who works there is absolutely lovely. 10/10 across the board.
Great beers and great service
Awesome people, awesome beer. They are just genuinely nice people serving genuinely good beer.
Beer : yummy; Ambiance : cosy; Staff & service : friendly; Prices : TOO DAMN HIGH. $8 pint on the menu, $9 at the cash, $10 with tip... o_O $15 for 4 x 355ml cans at akeout !!?!? next time Ill remember to keep walking an extra 500m to BTP where I can 4 x 473ml of equally great brew for the same price.
Great experience, the beers are excellent, great welcome, lovely and attentive staff. We had a very nice time.
They microwave 15$ hotdogs
Nice patio, good beers, hoppy hour is a good deal whats not to like. Didnt try the food maybe next time.
Strongly recommend you try the hot dogs
Super good. The saison was excellent. Not too boozy taste. Nice staff. Not pushy. No manbuns visible.
I havent eaten here, but I wanted to share my experience. I asked the staff if I could sit here to wait for a ride home. Beyond accomodating, they welcomed me and also brought water. Will be bringing my family here soon
A great place to enjoy some delicious craft beer. Tonight, I tried the Lucidity and the Grace & Gratitude
One of my first outings in a long time. I am not a fan of online ordering QR code menus when in or on site of an establishment. When staff are right at hand. I have no data on my limited phone and no credit card info in said phone. I did ask server for menu and was immediately directed to QR. Buddy ordered for us and I did not fuss when he did not get my instructions correct. Parking: Plenty of parking
This place is special killin the fresh brew scene
Try the stout. Goes down smooth! (Was there in person earlier this evening). Waitresses very friendly and passionate about the beer!
Good vibes and beer. Would have wanted a bit more hop forward on the anniversary brew, but different strokes for different folk.
I happened to have the good fortune to meet Andrew on an unrelated matter, and it came up in conversation that he owned Tooth and Nail. I have long been a craft beer drinker, supporter of local and supporter of good folks , so my fiancée and I made a point of visiting T&N recently, and WOW!! We enjoyed the pub fare gourmet dogs she had the New York Dog I had the Chicago Dog and we shared the bratwurst plate two thumbs up from both of us on the food!! For the beer we shared Lucidity (Summer Pale Ale); Rabble Rouser (IPA); and Supernova (Lager) absolutely great beers. If I had to choose a fave, it would be the Lucidity perfect hoppiness, a very gentle citrus hit, smooth and soft DAM!!, a lovely beer. As good as the food and beer were, we must say the staff that we interacted with were all fun, polite, helpful and so knowledgeable and confident on the food/beer offerings, we were impressed to say the least. So, if you love a good afternoon/evening out, great beer (they also have some Ontario wines available .) and you want to support local and good folks, look no further put this on your list for sure!!
Delicious IPA sat at a window seat watching the rain and the world go by.
Pretty cool place for drinks and food
Beautiful microbrewery with lots of great beers.
Fantastic beer. Great brew pub
Great staff & beer
Truce is the truth! Well done.
Always get the nicest service here. Rotating beer selection with great seasonal. Patio is quaint, space is inviting.
Great craft beer and wonderful outdoor drinks on their patio
The Belgian ale and Stout are great, would recommend. Cool wood themed interior with plenty of seating.
There really isnt a whole lot for food- especially if youre vegan/vegetarian. They redid the inside and its really nice. They always have fantastic beer and good service. We bought some beer and I only realized once we got home that the guy who packed it up for us gave us the wrong beer. The receipt itself was correct but instead of getting 2 tabula rasas and 1 lucidity, we got 3 lucidity (there were 10 beers in our order and the other 7 were correct). Guess we dont get to try the tabula rasa! There isnt a huge difference in the price. We over paid by like 60 cents at most, it happens. Id just recommend double checking your cans before you leave!
This is a great spot to take a date or go with a few friends. The outdoor set up is really nice. Beer selection was decent. Staff was friendly. The indoor section is supposedly nice as well which works out if its really hot out and the patio is full. Definitely recommend this place.
Awesome beer and service !
Stylish place to spend a night with friends. Solid food to share and consistent, clean and crisp beers. Tooth and Nail is an Ottawa craft beer staple.
If you want some consistently stellar craft beer - including what is arguably the best pilsner in Ontario - this is your place.
Really good German-style beer. The small food options (mostly hotdogs and other apps) are great as well.
The owners of this new brewery have pulled out all of the stops and have done a spectacular job of converting an old print shop into a beautiful space, which is quite large and can easily accommodate groups, parties and live music. The menu is all about beer, and the food is really just for satisfying the munchies after hoisting a few. I tried the Tenacity pale ale which was very smooth and enjoyable. Even better was the Rabble-Rouser IPA which was firm and hoppy, but not overly strong. Aware that the branding and merchandise is almost as important as the product, they have done a nice job of creating a bold and recognizable logo in red and black in line with Ottawas pro sorts teams. The distinctive glassware for home enjoyment is a must have as well. I bought 4... Well done! 2021 Update Service not stellar anymore.
One of our favorite breweries in Ottawa. Amazing pilsner you must have if you ever go. Attentive and knowledgeable staff make it easy to help you with your choices.
Excellent washroom
The hidden jewel of Ottawa
Really nice bar and brewery. Good variety of their own beers and a few other options (cider and wine) and some yummy snacks.
Good beer, great friendly staff and some light food to eat!
Fortitude is an awesome stout! Definitely my favourite there.
A variety of tasty beers and snacks that are always changing! Staff are great and well informed! Relaxed and homey atmosphere. Again, some of the tastiest beer Ive ever had!
Love this place. Best beer in town. Incredible people. They have an amazing ability to make me feel like Im getting preferential treatment. Even when they communicate that they would prefer that I leave.
Delicious beers in a cool locale. Can t wait for Covid-19 to be over because I m desperately craving me some happy hour libations.
Best Beer in Ottawa. I know its a bold statement but with the Covid 19 lockdown I have ordered from multiple breweries in the Ottawa Area and Tooth and Nail has been the preferred brew. We have been going here for years. The staff are lovely and place has a great for everyone vibe. Keep the good beer and positive vibes flowing!
An Ottawa institution of beer and brewing.
Great compassionate service during COVID-19!
Incredible beer, people and place!
We have been buying beer from Tooth and Nail fairly regularly over the past few years, more since COVID as we were trying to support local. We went to the patio for the first time today since COVID started and these guys are ON THEIR GAME. All servers were wearing their masks *properly* the entire time we were there. They took down our first name and phone number for contact tracing in case someone tests positive and was there. They are seating no more than two people per table, even for groups larger than two, and they are enforcing physical distancing (someone from another table moved his chair bit closer to us and the server asked him to move back in closer to his table to give us space). Finally, they had a brilliant menu system with a QR code on each table that can be scanned instead of handling physical menus (some places are doing disposible menus which is better than regular menus but overall quite wasteful). As usual, 5/5 for these guys and will continue to support them.
Rabble is the best IPA in town
Lots of good beer options.
Showed up after a long drive and checked to make sure they were open online. It said patio was open. The hostess was really rude and said they were full for reservations for the night (no reservation option on site) and the patio was wide open. Tried to get beer to go and was also turned away because they re Internet was down. I m sure they have fine beer but I won t be coming back to try it.
Awesome customer service and great beer!
Amazing customer service, thank you so much!
Great service. Great beer. Great vibes.
Short beer menu but quite broad in styles and flavors. Beer geeks who are looking for a unique experience, Tooth and Nail is a fantastic place.
Today was a beautiful September day in Ottawa and we spent an hour or so walking around Hintonburg so decided to stop by Tooth and Nail. Picked up a variety of beer and have to say that their curbside pick up was crazy fast and friendly. When I got home I cracked a Black is Beautiful...oh my God. I love stouts and dark beer and have had so many different ones over the years but have to say this is the smoothest, richest and most tasty that I have ever had! Great spot, great people and frickin great beer. Go people!
Amazing people and awesome beer!!
What a beautiful spot with such wonderful staff and most of all, delicious beer. They were so kind to accommodate my group (3 people and 2 doggies) with a spot near the sidewalk. My dog spilled and broke my glass and they took care of it swiftly. I love this spot and will keep coming back! Strong covid policies, I felt very safe.
Very good beer and very attentive staff!
Excellent..had a dark beer with sausage..wonderful combo
Great beer, quick service. Didnt have any food so cant comment on that, but will definitely be returning.
Absolutely deafening and tasteless music. I felt like I was at a heavy metal concert. Very limited choice of products. They didnt even have any white wine left. I wouldnt go back!
4 1/2
Delicious beer indeed! Excellent variety and some exceptional IPA as well as Pilsners. The crowd on Saturday was solid. Really friendly staff and a great vibe to enjoy a few tasty beers.
Great service and atmosphere!
One of the best breweries in the city, great friendly service, good quality apparel, cant ask for more
Great atmosphere and great beer. This place can get rather busy and parking is a bit annoying. This is a great place to have conversations with friends. Its nice and relaxed. The menu isnt very extensive. It consists mostly of snack foods. A great place to hang out.
Awesome service and good beer!
This place is busy every time I go, cant deny its great beer. This brewery stands apart from the rest with its cozy tasting room and selection of shareable snacks. Great location, with a few other breweries within walking distance.
Great beers, really nice and helpful staff! Great addition to the neighborhood!
You can tell that lots of effort was put in their beers.
Amazing staff and awesome beer
Great beer. Bitter rivals was great
Frickin amazing!!!! Definitely recommend, great beers, wondeful atmosphere. Try the dopplebock, you wont regret it!
First time here last night......all I can day is GO......GO.......Go. What an amazing set up. The beer is so good and there is a beer for every tastebud. You can order a big glas or just 3 oz glass. The staff are on top of their game and waiting for a beer is non exsistant. The second you finish your glass someone magically appears and offers to fill it up again or try a different flavour. Had a great time and will be back 100 percent.
The service is very good, friendly and warm. They like their beers and appreciate the customers conversations. I had the Pilsner, the Pale Ale, the Stout and the Saison and I would not want to have been drinking any other beer at that time. Balance, strong and delicious. If you are in Ottawa looking for good beer, get here.
I am voting this a 4 star ONLY because I did not eat here. Therefore I did not get the full experience. However, I will say, that their beer-made-on-site was excellent. And I tried them all. In addition, the staff was friendly and courteous. I also appreciate the picnic style bench seating, where you could possibly be seated at a long table with others. This was a positive experience as it allowed a natural interaction with others sitting at the same table. I ll be back for some grub soon!
On a recent trip to Ottawa, we decided to visit as many local craft breweries as possible. They have small sampler sizes to try which is what we did. I tried Vim & Vigor and Fortitude. Discretion has a very fruity / berry taste, which is not normally the type of beer I would try but Im glad I did. My only regret is that I wont be able to get it when I get home. The bar itself had that nice home feel to it. Its the kind of place where youd expect everyone to know your name if you go a lot. The staff there were fantastic, great recommendations, friendly. If I lived in Ottawa, Id definitely spend more time and money here :)
Great place for quick eats and a great craft beer! If you like a good stout definitely try Fortitude! If youre more of a pale ale person definitely go for Rabble Rouser Or Tenacity! And did I mention how amazing the staff are! Good vibes all around!
Great beer thats always changing. Small food menu but that is expected for a brew pub.
Great beer, atmosphere, service and bar bites! Rabble Rouser IPA just perfect. Very lucky to be within walking distance!
Craft beer is AMAZING WOWZERS :D
Another awesome find in this fun part of Ottawa! Tooth and Nail is a boutique brewery that serves up a great range of beers, tasty snacks in a chilled atmosphere with great service! We enjoyed sitting outside - perfect for warm Ottawa days! Really fantastic experience!
This brewery was great! Good to try various beer in sample sizes in a cute glass. I could try a range of beer from light fruity beer, crispy filtered wheat ale, to stout with aroma of earthy dark chocolate. It was good place to hang out with friends.
Tooth and Nail has a great space to relax with a nice roomy taproom. The beers are not bad with something for everyone - while there are breweries with better beer in Ottawa (in my opinion) its still a solid spot.
Went here last night after an escape room. We were having a good time until I had a bug in my drink. At the end of the night I walked over to pay and told the server I had a bug in my drink and he said theres bugs everywhere... you could have told us to bring you another one. I probably would have if any servers checked up on our table in the last 45 minutes. Good drinks, atmosphere and tasty but slightly pricy snacks but I wouldnt come back here because of the poor service.
Always consistent delicious beer. Wish the food would expand and I really don t like the bagged chips, but they still get 5 because the beer is ridiculous and the people working there are nice.
Great location, atmosphere, service, food, and drinks. No complaints whatsoever! And they sure do brew a mean brew. The selection is on point, with a wide range of flavors for different tastes. Ranging from refreshing fruity summer to dark comforting winter ales. The patio is intimate, but not crowded. Inside seemed like a zoo so we didnt sit inside. It has a darker, almost grungier feel to it. Outside patio was light, airy, with a really great feel to it. The food was fantastic. Definitely get the chips and dip, especially if your just there for a few brews. Perfectly salted crispy chips with 2 of the best dips youll have. Sample every! Even the ones you think you wont like. We were both pleasantly surprised. Location is good, with parking along the street. Even when its busy theres still somewhere to park the car. Suffice it to say, very enjoyable experience. Even someone thats not a beer drinker will enjoy this and they will have something that they will for sure enjoy. Cheers!
Knowledgeable staff, good service. Beer was enjoyed, as was a cherry cola. Food was really good, especially the roast beef sandwich.
Good selection of Craft beers, cozy local pub vibe, friendly staff.
Beer and food is great but 1/3 of the time this summer my beer order has been messed up when getting beer to go. Really annoying to get home and have 10 of the same beer rather than what you asked for. Always the same guy too.
The stout was amazing.
Lovely local spot with a variety of interesting beers. The food is decent snacking fare, and the atmosphere is great, convivial, and spacious. My partner was surprised by the size of the brewery. Service is excellent and quick.
Excelent music, the Mediterranean Veg is hands down the best sandwich Ive ever had, highly recommended. Oh, and the beer is great too!
Go to spot for grabbing a pint with a friend or some beer on the way home. Great beer, great staff, great music. They have some food too!
Very nice food and drink!!!
Great beers in a very casual environment!
The beer is excellent, but Ive never been to a bar/restaurant with worse acoustics. Be prepared to spend the evening shouting at the top of your lungs, even if the person youre there with is sitting right across from you. After the last two times Ive been there I left with worn out vocal chords that resulted in being sick for a week.
Very nice environment with great staff and great beers.
Great locally brewed beer. Beers, staff, ambience,... All great elements for a cool place to have a pint. I didnt try the food yet, but just going for the beer is already worth it (lupo solitario ftw).
I am so glad that I finally went into this low-key spot in Westboro. I have never seen a cooler beer selection. Their 8.8% beer tastes great. The chipotle nachos tastes great. The servers are friendly and the interior is super cozy.
Rabble Rouser is THE best IPA Ive had from Ottawa. Hands down. Fortitude also good.
Such a cute spot!
