The best never lets me down

Well, went for my birthday dinner, kids came along, and I have to say regret getting a free meal there. That said I had 3 things I could eat the rest was filled with curry dishes, chicken was dry, fries terrible, the chili had some sort of gross film over it so I skipped it. The pasta was hard crunchy and had barely any sauce, so the flavor wasnt there. The roasted and mashed potatoes tasted like sweaty socks and it was enough for me to call it quits. The booths need to be fixed asap, when youre eating and 3 people keep slamming the back of their booth, it isnt fun poking your face with your own fork and almost missing your eye. I would seriously reconsider thinking about going here. Im just glad I didnt get sick. It boggles me that you run a buffet and barely have choices for decent food. Wont be returning even if its free. My kids even said my cooking was better than this. Good luck trying to fix this. Fyi only good thing here was the waitress who brought me coffee and drinks.

I had a great time at Tuckers Marketplace (61 York St, Ottawa, ON). The food was fresh and delicious, with lots of options to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I ll definitely visit again!

Super clean staff is great and the food is amazing I really recommend this place you won t regret it at an affordable price

I had the pleasure of dining here recently, and I was blown away by the entire experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and attended to our every need. Each dish was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor.

Great service. Jason and his staff were amazing. Our family has always had good memories. COVID AND POST COVID decimated the Hospitality business. The economy is here restaurants all over Canada. Parking: Parked near Mother Tuckers. Arrived early. Sunday is free parking. Yeah.

Worst buffer ever, everything was dry, the food seemed to have been there for days, horrible Caesar sauce and lettuce seemed old carrot salad too sweet and there was no one in the restaurant. You still had to pay. The only good thing was the very polite waiter.

Food not a huge selection of meat option

My first time going out this restaurant. I went for my friend s birthday, and honestly, I was surprised (in a good way) the moment I walked in. The vibe was so cozy warm lighting, not too bright, and the decor made it feel like summer in July, which was a nice change from the -3°C weather outside. Our server, Youssif (sorry if I spelled that wrong!), was great. Even though it s a buffet, he was super kind and respectful and even gave us some awesome drink suggestions. It felt like I d stumbled into a hidden gem kind of like Little Italy meets a French café, right in the middle of the market. The food was good, but what I really loved was how fresh the fruits and veggies were. There were no soggy tomatoes or dried-out pineapple pieces everything was crisp and fresh, which isn t always the case at buffets. The staff really went above and beyond too. Even servers who weren t assigned to our table checked on us, which was so thoughtful. One of my friends had her baby with her, and she was able to breastfeed comfortably without feeling awkward. The music wasn t too loud either, so we could actually talk and enjoy ourselves. Kid-friendliness: Children of all ages are welcome. If you plan to bring a stroller, I would suggest calling them in advance to advise them so they can make sure you are accommodated upon your arrival. Making reservations is recommended for ultimate comfort.

The price per person is still high in my opinion for the limited choice, its still passable for a last minute restaurant. On the other hand, I don t recommend the desserts, they are not that delicious As for salad, there was enough choice, it s what I ate the most during my visit

AMAZING!!!!! First time and Ill be back for more deliciousness. The food was fresh, the ambience was perfect and excellent team work since we had about 3 or 4 attendants (including the hostess). Vegetarian options: We are meat eatters so plenty of meat options and it was so good...I wouldnt recommend the place to vegetarians tho unless you are alright with just the salad bar & mussels. Not the Tucker s of old The food options were very limited, nothing looked fresh, the hot food was cold. I will definitely not be returning. The only thing it has in common with the original Tucker s is the name, deceiving to say the least.

I witness revisiting values that every Business once had Right here. Very, very well done and clearly there s care here one every single item. Speaking of impeccable customer service Natt was The star of my she made me feel so welcome and she was nothing but a joy, her hospitality just took over. I am very grateful to this business I cannot see one negative thing, and seeing quite a lunch rush on a Tuesday was impressive.

We came with a big group and had a great experience! Very accommodating and staff was really friendly!

The buffet has less selection now, the noodle tastes good, the fish tastes good, the fried onions tastes good, the meat station meat too dry, the chicken no flavour, bean and sweet chicken, beans good, chicken too tough, dessert squares way too sweet, ice cream lowest quality with pieces hair in it cause anyone can just reach deep to scoop out ice cream, of cause hair gonna fall in there. Repeat dishes of chicken, melon spoiled, pizza not the best.

They are finally open every day for lunch again, so I went with some colleagues from work. It was to be expected that there arent quite as many options as there used to be. I am sure that will change as they get busier...and I hope they do. The roast beef was very good, the sausage pot pie was delicious, mussels were great, I tried two types of rice, mashed potatoes, BBQ and roast chicken, beef stew and a couple of desserts. Everything was quite good and by todays standards, very affordable ($26.95 for lunch)! Staff was all very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. I will definitely return often. Apparently the weekend brunch buffet is a crazy spread so I will have to check that out!

We were a group of nine on 2 separate bills. 5 on one. 4 on another. The service for drinks was very slow and other then clearing plates from time to time, they were non existant. The bill finally came with an automatic tip added on both bills. They said it was because of the size of the group. One group of 4., one family of 5. That to us was ridiculous. This is a buffet style restaurant. $ 50 in tip above the high price of the meals was not acceptable. We will not return.

My first time at Tucker s Market place and I loved my experience, I went with my husband wishing for delicious homemade like stuff and we got it, it s a buffet with a wide variety of fresh and tasty options! the staff were very very friendly and our sever was genuinely caring and took good care of us. The environment is very cosy and clean perfect for families. This place has a unique home and chill like vibe other than any other restaurant in Byward Market. definitely worth a visit again.

This is my 3th time going to this place for the buffet and it s always an amazing experience. The food was so good. Prices are not that bad. Also our server was so kind and sweet and professional. His name maybe mondeer or monir. He was really kind and took his time to explain everything for us and kept us comfortable and served whenever we needed anything on time

Tuckers is smaller since the reopening, but it remains an excellent place to celebrate your birthday because the food is still very good for the price, and it s free on your birthday. Tuckers was so different few years ago but now the menu and options are far less and kind of bland in taste . The options available look questionable to be honest the fact some of us resorted to eating fruits and veggies because the choices are just meh and some look like someone vomited in the pan . I would choose somewhere else for the price $35 or more per adult for a buffet with little options no thank you

We had an enjoyable time at Tuckers. My friend and I were let in prior to the reservation time and we had our table for several hours without anyone asking us to leave. Our server, Luc, was pleasant and polite, very good at serving drinks and keeping our water glasses filled, and promptly removed our plates when we were finished a course. He even gave us some discount coupons for the next visit. The food was good and plentiful, I passed by the buffet several times and never saw serving dishes that were less than half full. Overall, this was a good dining experience and a great chance to catch up with my friend over a pile of good food. I recommend visiting this restaurant, Ill definitely return.

A great experience due to the amazing team starting with Shawn the Manager and his team Youcef, Moundir, Luc and Karim. I also have to give a shout out the the Chef and his crew. They have really stepped up the entire energy, quality of service and buffet offerings. I highly recommend this location for all your dining needs. An intriguing restaurant, I believe the only buffet all-you-can-eat Canadian food. The food is scattered around the place, so a complete tour before you start filling your plate is advisable. Meats are a major focus, with an excellent variety of salads, but a surprisingly limited selection of desserts. Muted (Canadian!) tastes, but excellent. Excellent service. Parking is free after 5:30pm.

Okay I will give a real detail here. 1. Its a lot smaller and the options are a lot less. Few options that are good. Fries are good, they have a taco station (not bad), bread station is alright. The roast beef is actually really good. The veggies beans and corn are good The salad bar isnt that great and the fruit station again only had 4 fruits, cantaloupe, melon, pineapple and oranges. Need to include more fruits. The ice cream station was alright and the desserts were okay if you like desserts. Im not really a fan. 2. Service -> we got there for lunch 1130am and a lot of stuff was not ready. If you are going for lunch wait till 1230pm. When we got there my son wanted thr make your own pasta station which is still around. We had to wait for the pasta (penne and spaghetti). I have to say the head chief Ali is the best. He made sure that they cooked the pasta ASAP he even made the pizza (cheese ans pepperoni only) which wasnt ready either. Honestly, he was so nice and you can tell he cares for his customers. Our server/hostess was also so niceshe made sure everyone was taken care of. Overall it was good, its just not the same since Covid and a lot smaller selection but the service was really good and everyone was so nice. Oh free refills on coffee Perhaps at dinner there is more variety. Thanks again Ali for making the pasta for my son Kid-friendliness: My sons enjoyed it.

Food was good but $35 per person was a little steep

Since renovating the decor has definitely improved. But that s where the improvements end. We ve been coming to tuckers for years and that stops now. The food was absolutely terrible and options were very few. Gone are the days with bays and bays and fresh, hot options. Now they have one food bay and everything is incredible dry, flavourless and questionable looking. I kept trying new dishes hoping they would be palatable but nothing was delicious. If you like dry meat, mussels, or fish, you know where to go. Otherwise don t waste your money.

Food is dry and flavourless. Had the chicken it s like I am eating cardboard. Pasta salad has no flavour. Service is alright. Price is way to high for what it is, and fountain drink is not included in $35. I find it a but ridiculous.

Youcef gave us a tour of the dine in of the restaurant before we started. I must say everything in the menu was absolutely amazing. Roast section, Bread pudding, Pizza, Mussels. Excellent food and an extremely friendly and charming staff !!

This place was amazing, it was my family s first time coming here. We arrived a little late, close to closing time but all of the staff are friendly and nice. Encouraging us not to rush and enjoy the food. The background music was supplementary. If you ever come to Ottawa , please check out this restaurant, you will love it!!!

Excellent service from Youcef. Pet friendly terrace! They make your pasta, pizza, tacos and salads on the spot and personalized. the dessert and stew bar already prepared also has very rich seasoning. Lots of variety. On average it was 50 dollars per person including the extras of beers , coffees and soft drinks. They give a discount for people over 65, and for birthdays .

Had a good meal at Tuckers tonight. For a buffet the food is pretty good and no one leaves there hungry. Ethan was great and there for us the whole time. I give Ethan 5 stars for the excellent service!

Wow, this place surprised me, the very rich buffet

This was such a deception compared to my previous visits (pre-move). The staff was outstanding, but the food was mediocre at best. I almost fainted when I got the bill: 2 adults, one child, 2 soft drinks and 2 coffees with tip 130$! This was my last visit. Sorry.

The food was outstanding! Extremely good . I been to many Buffets USA and across Canada. I rate this to a buffet in Vegas or Atlantic city one of those big hotels. Updated review: July 2024 They fixed the lighting, it s dimmer and more reminiscent of the way the old tuckers was The bill for one with tax and tip comes to around $45, not too bad at all. you have to ask for stuff if you need it, but they are not bothersome and pleasant people! The lamb was my favourite! Sadly after my first plate where I had a slice, there was none left and they weren t bringing any more out.. the pork was too dry to bite through, but the roast beef was ok!! Their beef gravy was probably my favourite dish of the entire buffet, I dipped just about everything in it it was so good! The pizza station they let you customize the pizza as you want, the crust was so delicious. The mussels were a bit dry and the food was not switched out at all while I was there, but I think that was due to the lack of customers on a rainy night. The bread wasn t so fresh, but their butters were lovely. They don t have Parmesan cheese to put on salad which was sad, but they had bacon bits! Their ice cream was brutally hard to scoop, it s almost like it was completely frozen to the tubs, but with a lot of perseverance I got some and ate it with toppings or apple crumble which was so tasty with the vanilla (which was the only scoopable type) I liked the ambience here and the fact that it wasn t too busy at all. They also have wifi so you can watch something with your earbuds while you eat. Thank you for the meal! I m glad they re reopened and more similar to how they used to be!

The salad was very fresh but the rest was plain horrible. The pizza was cold the roast beef overdone and the pasta station looked dirty very unappealing and unorganized. The restaurant advertised lamb, roast beef, and ham on Saturdays but no lamb available. First they said 10 min for the lamb it will be ready, then it was 20 min, half hour, and finally after we were already there for an hour they told us there was no lamb and someone else said there was but wont be ready for an hour?? Get it together...definitely dont recommend this place and wont be going back. The quality of food is not worth the price at all...

Although the reopened restaurant bears the identical name and logo, in no way does it live up to the original. It offers reduced space and menu choices. There is be no vegetarian soup option. The bread is precut, which dries out quickly. The salad options are minimalistic. They do not accept loyalty cards purchased before the pandemic.

This place gets 5 stars. Great food. The buffet was line none I had been too. Make your own pizza, pasta bar, taco bar, shaved meat bar, dessert bar with chocolate fountain.

While visting from Alberta we decided to visit this buffet. I must say this is one of the best buffets we ever been too! The food is delicious, customer service is excellent. We have been served by Ethan. He is very kind and attentive to details. I would highly recommend to visit this buffet to anyone who visits Ottawa!

The brunch price is not clearly stated on the website. There wasnt enough breakfast options to make it worth the money.

Terrible don t go here save yourself the money and go anywhere else

Not the greatest food and staff was rude. Guy scooped ice cream but he didn t even dip or clean the scooper before scooping multiple types of ice cream one after another. Staff was unclear regarding food restriction/allergies(my friend found a piece of beef in her rice, which she was told that it was veggie only. This disregards her religious beliefs). Also not a lot of selections of food for people that can t eat types of food or ingredients. After eating, my friends and I went to the washroom; and while washing our hands I realized that the paper towels we were about to use were MOLDING at the top. The other women in the washroom also realized and were disgusted as well. The carrot cake was the only good dish I ate that night.

Changed our table last minute to the basement with my mother who struggles with stairs. Food was Luke warm and overcooked. Staff were eager to help, but the only thing I would eat again is the dessert which seemed mostly brought in from elsewhere. This restaurant was a favourite and now will be struck from our list.

I went to Tuckers for the first time since they re-opened, and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. The restaurant has become a shell of its former self. The ambiance is completely gone, and the buffet has shrunk to the point that it almost looks like one youd see at a strip club in a movie. On top of that, the little food they did have looked dry and stale. I left without even picking up a plate and I dont plan on returning.

The food was of good quality but very cheep ingredients and selection. The bathrooms were not clean and need an update. The staff and service were very impressive considering the buffet cost and quality. Good luck. Great location but looks like a lot of cost cutting is going on.

This used to be a terrific place but it has changed over the years as they have cut costs. The food is mediocre and the selection (especially if youre looking for a cooked vegetable that isnt a potato) is unimpressive. The last time I went, the manager was brusque and unfriendly.

After a disappointing first visit we went back to give Tuckers Marketplace another try and we were pleasantly surprised at the difference, it was night and day! The food was fresh and hot, the wait staff was very attentive and the place was clean and organized. We tried almost every item on the menu and I can say that each dish was seasoned to perfection so that the flavor palette was not over powering on any one flavor or spice that would distract from the taste of the item being eaten. The carrot ginger soup was incredible with the blending of flavors perfectly in harmony, and the chili was spiced perfectly so that the flavor was rich but not overpowering. The salad selection was great and all items at the salad bar were fresh with no sign of aged vegetables. The meat selections were cooked to perfection and neither under cooked or over cook or dry and they were presented without looking like they had been sitting for any length of time. I would highly recommend taking the time to checkout Tuckers Marketplace, you wont be disappointed. Thank you Jason for redeeming my faith in good service and a great dining experience. I used to go before Covid and I liked it. This weekend was my first time since the re-opening and I wasnt impressed. The food was good, the service alright but we had made a reservation like a month before hand for my birthday. When we called to confirm the reservation we were told that they overbooked the restaurant and that we only had 90 minutes to eat. When we got to the restaurant our server reminded us again that we had a time limit of 90 minutes. I didnt appreciate the rush to come, eat and leave because they had overbooked themselves. They also dont tell you before hand that gratuities are added to you bill, they tell you while they are handing it to you. I think $40 is a little steep to be paying a gratuity especially when they only come around for drinks and picking up plates. Ive always been a generous tipper but that should be my choice, not the restaurant to decide what Im tipping out. Once the bill got to our table we were overcharged for one person and I saw the waiter pull the $40 in cash out of his wallet to pay us back? Did they reimburse him for that, considering we paid on credit card and they refunded us in cash? That was a little strange, does it not go back on the method of payment? Incredible spot. Got the opportunity to come here with my rugby team, and it was a really positive experience. The service was excellent. Everyone was super nice, and they did a great job accommodating a large group. Food was also really good. The amount of selection of different quality dishes gave everyone in our 25+ group something they loved. It all tastes terrific. I would recommend.

We went on Mother s Day. It was busy. They were behind. But, the host staff did the best that they could. I felt so bad at the abuse they got from people. They were so nice. Our waiter was amazing. Yusuf was attentive, courteous and very pleasant. They did try to keep up with replenishing the food but it was tough. It was all still a pleasant experience.

Really disappointing. It used to be delicious but its now disgusting. The food is salty the meats werent good. I dont know what happened but its not worth the time or money

Love Tuckers any time! Always great service! Was a bit disappointed that they refused to use the pizza oven when we went for Mothers Day today (at 3pm!) because they were still serving pancakes instead. The pizza is the *best* so something we were looking forward to. Its also one the few hot items that kids and vegetarian guests and guests with allergies all can fully enjoy. Even a couple pizzas on the buffet (like, not made-to-order just whenever theres time for) would have been nice. Otherwise, great as always. Love that the staff (kitchen and servers) are always so nice.

Not as good as I remembered. 2018 was the last time we visited, food is amazing and lots of variety. Year 2024, not a lot of options of food to choose from and not as great as it was. But still have that amazing service.

I went to this buffet with my family on mothers day and it definitely didnt disappoint. It was a bit crowded but the food and the vibes were so good. Big thanks to Kareem, he was so nice, and he took us even though we were from walkings, made sure to answer all of the questions we had. I really enjoyed their food and overall it was such a nice and pleasant experience!

Expensive buffet for whatever s offer....mostly a salad bar and a carbohydrates bar...and NO MEAT...just chicken..Everything taste like curry and ginger.....The pasta area looks DIRTY.....Very disappointed ..wont be back...Good luck

Great place, fantastic food and great brunch buffet selection, especially enjoyed the omelets, quiche, and salads (fresh and crisp). Youcef was such a bright and helpful presence, with a constant smile. Was a delight being helped by him! Best part is that there was loads of space and we easily found a spot on the patio on a wonderful bright Sunday. Would highly recommend this for couples, families, friends and anyone looking for a hearty, delicious way to spend a weekend brunch

The staff were friendly, food was ok, limited options for meat, refilling for meat took forever, toilets were disgustingly dirty. I only recommend this place if you love potatoes otherwise not worth the price.

Food was horrible and tasted really bland. Pizza was soggy and too oily. The beef roast was as dry as it gets. The buffet was quite small and for 35$+ tax + tip it was really too much. Service was excellent at least.

Service was fine, selection of available food at the buffet was not nearly as good as the old Mother Tuckers and worth the price in my opinion.

As soon as we got there, the servers attended to us, they were very kind and accommodating through the whole experience, they even made my sister a dirty martini which was not on menu but she really wanted it and told them how to make it , food was tasty and fresh , many options to choose from for vegetarian or pescatarian people. It was not too loud but not too boring either and it s family friendly . Definitely recommend Tucker s , I will come back again!

This was hands down the worst food i ever had. I would give it to my dog Everything was fade, hard, not savoury. The rosbeef was so dry its unbelievable. I dont understand whats the point of having a buffet if the food quality is this low! 44$ yhis was a robbery. The server was cool about it tho and they offered a rebate for the bad experience. still!

I came here on a school music trip, they had the entire bottom level cleared for our group. The food was devine and the dessert was incredible. The music choices were well picked as well. I am not from Ottawa but would love if something like this was local to me.
