probably one of my favourite places to go in Ottawa for takeout! Every time I ve been here, Ive always been served phenomenal food and the customers service has always been kind and warm.

You have to try the Haitian riz national! ( National rice). It is well cooked, flavourful and delicious.

The service at the cash register was egregiously poor, leaving a lasting impression that discourages future visits. Furthermore, the exorbitant pricing for basic fare such as rice, beans, and chicken was disproportionate and disappointing.

Found them on google and wanted to try it since I like supporting small business. Waited 5 mins for my meal and was happy to wait Upon payment I was told to put my email to receive receipt and I said no I want a physical copy their attitude quickly changed as a lady came out the back after me hearing her losing it, preceded to tell me they dont offer paper receipts cause of the environment all while handing me my food in a platic container and in a plastic bag with a plastic fork! I insisted and was given a receipt and told next time I gotta do it by email. So I took the time to look it up and its actually illegal to not provide a physical receipt when asked so please update your obviously fake policy and your attitude. As far as the food the beef was overfried and bland the rice was good and the pickled cabbage was good. Def not $24 good Reply: There was no misunderstanding it was exactly as stated and its exactly what I was told. You went and wrapped enough paper on the machine to get one receipt and that was all please do not create lies to make it seem like anything was misunderstood

Best Haitian Creole food in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

I really enjoyed my fish, rice & beans, their spicy cabbage salad was very spicy but it was a nice change from plain cabbage salads. I also really liked their macaroni salad, overall good experience, cant complain.

Absolutely love this place. The food is always great, portions are reasonable, staff is always friendly. Definitely in the top 3 best Haitian food places in the city. Vegetarian options: The legume is vegetarian which most places usually put meat.

Came here last week ordered beef was a 5 out of 5 came back today Rice was good beef was flavourless hard and dry wish was more consistent.

Very disappointed in the food and the very extremely salty picklies, the sauce was watered down and it cost $60 for 2 platters. Smh

Great Food Greater Experience !!!!

Its more a grab & go place. No seating available. I ordered and it took 15 minutes when I got there to get my food. The meat was too dry and it was loud and hot in the place. I cannot see more than 4 people in there at the same time. It was MAD expensive. I ordered 2 places of meat and it came out to $60.00. Come on! In this economy ? Dont get me wrong, if I get the value of my money at a restaurant, I dont mind paying but I didnt at Margo . Parking: Cramped parking space and difficult exit from the parking spot.

no griot when I went 6:30 p.m. on a Monday so I had to have the chicken. $38 for two medium dishes is expensive. no macaroni or salad!! Ive never seen that.

Everything I tried from Margo was incredibly delicious and well spiced, with the only exception being the beef patty which unfortunately had a very thick rim of fried dough with only a small amount of filling in the middle. If it wasnt for the fact that beef patties are one of my favourite dishes, Id have given the food an easy 5 stars. I ordered delivery through a third party but had to chat with someone from the restaurant about a couple items that were no longer available. They were very friendly and helpful in finding alternatives.

BEST HAITIAN FOOD IN OTTAWA ! Honestly this place will not disappoint you !! I grab food here all the time for my bf and I and were definitely regulars at this point !! The beef (tasso) is my favorite and his is the griot (pork). And tbh the staff there are SO friendly with great customer service WOW !! Take all my money haha ! I only went to their bank location twice and the ladies there are so lovely and welcoming and the food is just as amazing !! Thankfully Bank St is closer to us and Im so happy the food is just as good there too :D

First time trying this restaurant yesterday for lunch. It was the best fried chicken Ive ever had! The lunch special was huge and under $10. Definitely going back soon! Friendly staff!

Since day one Ive been served with a smile and out-of-this-world delicious haitian food. Ive rarely ever had to wait more than a couple minutes when picking up my order. The food is as authentic as it gets and reminds me of my grandmothers cooking! Their bouillon soup served only on Saturdays is a must try. A great hearty soup thats made with love. All of the meat dishes from griot (fried pork cubes), to the traditional tomato sauce chicken, fried chicken, ect. are always tender and packed with flavour. I cant skip over how amazing their rice and beans are. The traditional rice with kidney beans and their djondjon (black mushroom) rice with lima beans. I never know what to pick because everything is so good. My go-to is their vegetable stew (legume) with a side of white rice and bean sauce. Thanks again for another wonderful dining experience, Margo!

It was the best food I have had I a very long time I had the meatballs wow and the chicken its like your in Louisiana enjoying good fried crispy chicken. It doesnt fell like take out it wells like its your grandma cooking that sent you a plate keep up the good work I will be back. Best Haitian food ever! Double beef you know who it is.

Had the griot (pork). Were sold out when I arrived and offered to make me a fresh batch. Perfectly fried not to over cooked. Which is common at other Haitian restaurants. Platains were excellent as well as their chicken patties have a delicious buttery and flaky crust. I would highly recommend this spot. Staff super friendly which is also a bonus.

Food was delicious, nice portions . I ordered a large griot and had leftovers for the next day Ordered from DoorDash and the food arrived nicely packaged (love it!!) I m usually skeptics about Caribbean restaurants that served poutine and burgers but Margo did not disappoint Looking forward to trying more food in their menu

Always delicious! Best Caribbean food in town. My two year old loves the rice and beans! They also made the switch to a potato beet salad which is absolutely delicious! I loved the macaroni salad but this is even better! And the business is family run so its good to know the people your giving your money to. 5 star as always with this crew!

I never had Haitian legume with cabbage in my life and I m Haitian . Very disappointed. Doesn t even taste good . Let me not even start with the meat dry af . The macaroni is expired taste sour from a rotten mayo or something. If I could put a zero start I would .

Got the lunch friend chicken special. Coleslaw is delicious. And pouring the sauce on the rice is definitely a 5/5 for what it s worth.

Go here all the time because it s right around the corner from my apartment! Great food: I always get griot or fried chicken. Coleslaw and side-soup are great, too. I d post a photo of the food but I ate it already :)

As soon as we arrive from Toronto we have to have Margos . The pikliz +plantain flavour wakes up the senses, its my favorite, it is delicious! Fish is fried on the outside and perfectly poached on the inside. The chicken is not oily and the flavour is subtle and at the same time refreshingly intense. One of the few places where you can actually taste the food here in Ottawa. Other places go for bland crowd-pleasing taste profiles. Margos doesnt hold back.

I m glad I chose Margo Caribbean restaurant the food was great I ordered some djon djon rice they made it special for me because they only make Djon djon on Sunday s. Big shout out to Kev. He took care of me. I will be back once I m back in Gatineau/Ottawa

First time trying Haitian food and it was delicious. I got the pork cubes dish (griot) with fried plantain and rice. The sauce was so delicious I wish they gave more of it! Wonderful flavours all around.

Wow delicious!! I was in the East end and was looking for Jamaican food but happened upon this place and saw the great reviews, so decided to try and i am not sorry! Amazing food!!! We got two legumes with beef, one with plain rice, some fried chicken and the saucey chicken plates. Everything was perfect and very saucy! Both rices are amazing! The hot spice is extremely hot. We even like how the plantains were made. Three only draw back is that i had to wait 15 mins longer when i arrived to pick up, but it was totally worth it and the staff were friendly. I will definitely be ordering from here again if Im in the East side. Thank youuuu!

Ordered this tonight from DoorDash. Absolutely AMAZING!! My husband is very picky so I ordered him a hamburger. The restaurant had no hamburgers so gave us all large sizes of what I ordered. Let me tell you I am glad they did! He gobbled it down. Amazing food and service. If you are looking for something different and good quality. I would highly recommend. I m sorry I didn t take any pictures. Will definitely be ordering from here again!!!

Food is usually good the only thing I dislike is if you re out of macaroni salad or out of something don t just put it on someones plate. Edit your menu or something I ordered a plate with macaroni salad and extra macaroni salad on the side.. and got a disgusting beets potato salad like I said UPDATE YOUR MENU on skip & uber eats if you re out of something or at least get a skip representative to call .. i hate beets so that was so un appetizing to see on my plate.. and more meat less fat got more pork fat then actual meat.

If you want to know how Chicken, Pork, Fish, & Goat should be served, just get to Margos. You will want to name your first born child Margo after dinner.

Great food, mediocre service. Been here few times now and has ran out of food . What kind of restaurant runs out of food. Guy at the front with the lisp shouldn t be serving customers. Had to correct my order several times with him. Didn t understand me. Few tweaks and I d give it a 5 star

GREAT TASTING FOOD BEST IN OTTAWA

I normally dont write reviews for Haitians food. However this place stands out. It is clean, friendly service, and much better than some of the other Haitians restaurants in town. My boyfriend is a Vegan he was 100% satisfied with the vegan options (Veggie stew/ Legumes) The food have excellent portions and it was absolutely delicious but however I would suggest a little more Akra or make them slightly bigger. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone who is interested to visit. :) ******creole ****** Merci anpil pou bon service nou et pou bon twavay nap fè nan kominote ayisyen nan Ottawa!

The best part about coming here is the service ; the guy at the counter is a great salesman, super sociable, and talks with his customers. He explained the menu right when I got in, and said I couldnt go wrong! I chose the fried goat cubes (medium for $14) plus a poutine ($6). The fried goat is a customer favourite apparently, and I can see why! The meat is goat-ey in taste, and fried well, not oily. A tiny bit dry, but tasty nonetheless! The plate comes with rice with peas or rice with bean sauce, and I got the rice with peas; it goes super well with the sauce that is given (although it could be a bit more stronger in taste but thats just my preference). I wish it came with more plantains, it came with 1 piece that was fried perfectly and I savoured it slowly. For $14 it was a bit pricy, but worth it since its authentic and fresh. As for the poutine, it was ok considering they are an ethnic restaurant and not a food truck; I knew before ordering that it might not be the best idea, but I was craving poutine too much! The gravy was deliciously thick and not too salty, and I was impressed with the amount of curds (although they were not squeaky). It would be better if the fries were crispier, but it was a solid poutine that hit the spot! I will be back for sure! He showed me the fried chicken, which looked really appetizing and fried well. I also want to try the creole chicken with sauce, and the fried pork...Im already drooling thinking about it! Listening to the guy at the counter talk with customers makes the experience really entertaining/lively, and I left with a lifted mood. Stellar example of customer service!!!

Amazing food great customer service

Meat of your choice, nicely cooked. Rice and beans to fill the empty corners. And Creole sauce!! Mmmm, Creole sauce! There is no excuse for eating pizza or hamburgers, when Haitian fast food is available right around the corner.

The food is great, and ample portions. But the staff? WONDERFUL! we forgot a dish and they tracked us down to the local park where we were having a picnic! who knew simple rice and beans could be so good! Creole chicken? BBQd wings! plantain! and so much more + the hot peppers. Were so lucky to have them in our hood. Would recommend ordering in advance then going to pick up your feast.

Fresh Hot Halal Soul Food BEST HATIAN RESTAURANT IN OTT!!! This place is 100% a 5 !!! This restaurant has a very clean and comforting environment! Everyone working there is so kind and humble! . Now the food on the other hand is to die for ... fried chicken... fried beef...fried pork...beef with sauce ...okra... rice and beans ... black bean sauce ...macaroni salad...creamy beet salad... I can just keep going! The food is always fresh and hot served right in front of you! Oohh and did I mention for all my muslims they have halal!!!!! Check out Margos when you are around downtown take a friend you will not regret it. Yuuummmmm

I lived in Haiti for a time, so I popped in here for a little nostalgia. Food was terrific, will definitely be visiting again. The folks working there are also super nice. Its obvious that they take pride in the place. After I was sitting for a while eating a couple of folks there asked me how everything was and seemed real about it the way they asked and looked genuinely please when I said I enjoyed it.

Don t order take out from this place guys unless you are willing to wait for at least an hour and a half.. The food I give 5 stars but the delivery time is just too much I literally live 1 minute away and it s been about an hour and 20 minutes and that s not the first time this happens

Fire Haitian food

My first time going to Margo Caribbean and I found the food delicious and not expensive at all. The restaurant itself is very warm and friendly. I felt like I was on the beach lol. I highly recommend this amazing restaurant.

Today i got two plates for my wife and i . I am a regular constumer bill and kev know me very well extra griot. Who ever served me around 3 today the food was garbage and i never say that. Bill kev your the best always great.

Good food, excelent treatement

The first Time I ordered from them, they got nearly every item in my order wrong (including the meal sizes and omitting all of the add-ons). When I called, they told me to just order from them another time and they would sort the problem out (nevermind that that requires me to give them more of my money when the first impression was so terrible). The second time I wanted to order from them, I chose to do so in person so I could more easily explain the situation (including the fact that I was given no voucher so they would just have to take my word for it). This second time, they were closed in the middle of the day during normal working hours with no explanation or sign on the door. Even the store hours sign was lit up! I tried calling and no one was in. The food has been decent so I really wanted to support this Caribbean restaurant but, so far, it seems like a really poorly run business.
