Went to this restaurant to get curry goat and oxtail cashier was a nice young man I bought my food and went home to eat it my curry goat was nix with a few pieces of beef I give it to my hubby to taste I was so upset he eat the curry goat, curry beef mix so I had some of his oxtail I call this restaurant I told the lady what happened not blaming anyone maybe it came mix from the company I know beef from goat she say its impossible people if you but curry goat.from this restaurant be careful when it was island jerk same thing the ower did not believe turning around to say I am abusive and its a lie I try to tell we bought food there and it was touch and the mix the food yrs ago I wanted to try this restaurant again but I will stay at red lobster and the keg you go the the white place rest no issue

Delicious plate. Perfectly spiced, nice presentation, and generous portions. The jerk chicken was so tender that it fell off the bone. The vegetables were delicious and a nice addition to plates that typically only come with rice, beans, and plantains on the side. Will definitely order from Ocho Rios again the next time I want Caribbean food!

From the point of view of a Jamaican: Purchased Oxtail and rice and peas with fried plantains. The rice and peas was ok, but the oxtail was a bit undercooked/underwhelming. The fried plantains also wasn t quite ripe. We also had patties, those were nice and spicy - I would go back and try another dish or for at least the patties!

This is literally a little piece of Jamaica in Ottawa, the service is great and the food is even better. Thank you for being my comfort spot!

Drove around craving West Indian food. With the help of the drive apps, Ocho Rios was out 3rd search and last. First Impression looking at the store from our car made us pull in and park. Then once we received our meals, we couldnt stop eating, it was so good. Food : 5/5

Small little place in a plaza, easy to miss, but please dont! Very yummy food. Bbq chicken was a big hit with my husband and one son. Other son enjoyed the curry goat roti. I had a combo platter with salt fish, callaloo, and ackee. Sides were yummy too, rice and beans, mixed veggies, coleslaw, plantain, all made perfectly. Wait was a little long (20ish minutes), but we were told thered be a wait and we were fine with that. Its clearly a popular place. Guy at counter was super friendly and helpful. There is a small area to eat in, but Id say its more of a take out place. Decent amount of parking outside. Must visit restaurant in Ottawa!

A nice bonus: my stomach was a bit upset when I came in to order. SPOTLESS bathrooms. These days, most don t offer public bathrooms, and the ones that do make you want to turn around and hold it. Literally not a single speck of dirt. It just makes you confident that the kitchen must also be well kept. Thanks for the clear effort.

Restaurant was clean and the service was friendly. Portions were generous. We ordered 3 roti - 2 curry goat and 1 jerk chicken. All were fantastic. The mall is a bit tricky to get into, but certainly worth it. Parking: Lots of parking, but no turning left in/out of the mall because of the median. Also, not connected to the mall at Value Village (that we could find, at least).

I ordered a small ackee and saltfish meal. It came with rice and peas, steamed vegetables, and ripe fried plaintains. The rice and peas are not a common pairing. The rice and peas were delicious. The ackee had a mild flavor and buttery texture. The codfish was properly prepared. It was not salty or overcooked. The seasoning on the ackee and codfish was perfect. It merried all the flavors together. The portion size of the sckee and codfish with the rice was filling. The steamed cabbage, peas, and carrots with th ripe fried plaintain were nice additions to the meal.

This is the 3rd time I order now from Ocho,s and I will tell you that you won t be disappointed!!!! Whenever I order I do a little dance cause I can t wait to eat their food. I drive from out of town just for them! I ve had the curry goat, jerk chicken, a rotti and ohhhhhh so amazing oxtail!!! And the sides!!!! Rice and peas plantain butter beans cabbage the whole thing is just out of this world good! Portions are amazing I m always full with a snack for later. They are always friendly and fast even though I d wait all day if I had to lol. Parking: The parking is not bad but winter the parking gets complicated

Ocho Rios is probably the best Caribbean food in the 613. All the food is great, can t complain! Very authentic, fair prices. Also, the customer service is extremely pleasant. Unfortunately Caribbean restaurants aren t known for this, so to actually have people here smile and treat you with respect is an extra bonus. Kudos to y all and hope this business thrives for many years to come.

Love this places curry chicken roti. Being from Toronto Ive tried a number of good curries and this place is definitely worth visiting. Its the only caribbean place I go to in Ottawa.

The food was great and the service was quick, especially considering that we arrived less than 5 minutes from closing.

I ordered curry goat roti and oxtail dinner for takeout. The roti was excellent. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because I felt that the oxtail was a but tough to chew. It can be done a little longer to get it fall off the bones. Otherwise it was great. Loved the fact that it is authentic, family business, welcoming environment and music is appropriate to the Caribbean vibe and not too loud like some places. The service was great, getting the food was a bit slow but that is a good thing, it means many things were prepared per order, and that they put real work into creating your order. The menu is simple and the prices are reasonable for this day in age. Portion sizes were also quite generous. Will go back for sure. The only other thing was they had items in the menu that were not available. (Some things can be seasonally available like calaloo) but I was able to get what I wanted. Also they were out of patties which was too bad.

Tasty goat curry

I personally think they have the best West Indian food in Ottawa. The staff are all nice and welcoming as well. The portions are perfect and the food is delicious. My sister is pregnant and craves their ox tail gravy with rice and they always hook us up. I give them a perfect rating. Vegetarian options: They have plenty different options like rice, Cole slaw, plantain. The food was so good I had to let the chef know that it was the best plate of jerk chicken I ve ever had. If you ve never been, you definitely should try it. I don t think I ll ever go anywhere else after trying this.

The Curry goat is out of this world

Ordered their large oxtail, and asked for a little piece of jerk on the side. $18. Not much oxtail, rice was good. Jerk was baked chicken. I could not taste any pimento/allspice in their jerk whatsoever. Oxtail was not slow cooked long enough. Go elsewhere. ****Update: they responded that s a first incorrect, there s another one criticizing their jerk chicken as well if they scroll through the comments. I feel bad, but I know Jamaican food.

Meh. Ive eaten west Indian for a couple of decades and this was definitely forgettable. Roti was decent size but abysmal portion of rice and peas with no cabbage or slaw. The Goat roti was flavorless honestly and the bread was hard at certain spots. Also the hot sauce seems to be just Franks Red Hot put into a plastic container, definitely a big miss. No soup was made either. All in all not worth the trip. I dont think I will be back. I will say the young man who served me was very polite and helpful.

Ocho Rios is a great Jamaican restaurant. However, the quality of food depends on the day you go and how busy they are. I have gotten the oxtail platter from here a couple of times, and it has been okay. However, the oxtail platter was a complete miss the last time I visited. The food was super greasy and not great.

We love this place!! The food is really really good and the price is very affordable. Tonight we had jerk chicken, fried chicken, and our friend tried the roti. We found out last night that they have fried chicken as special item every Saturdays where its only $8.99. So we had to try the fried chicken. The portion is pretty big for $8.99. It comes with a big container full of rice& peas, vegetable coleslaw, plantains, and 2 big pieces of fried chicken. It was very yummy. Jerk chicken tastes really authentic and its a bit spicy. Jerk chicken is a must try at this place. Our friend tried the roti and the portion is very big. It will probably take our friend at least 2 meals to finish the entire roti. I definitely recommend this place and would 100% order from this place again!!

What an amazing, authentic and true flavour packed experience I had today!! Very kind staff I felt so at home. We got today jerk chicken, goat curry, and oxtail. The jerk chicken was perfect cooked falling off the bone with a slight smoked flavour. The goat was tender and beautifully cooked. The oxtail was my absolute favourite that gravy is made to perfection being as subtle as I can I indulged. You will not be disappointed. While I was there, another person was talking about coming from across Ottawa after others tried the food and raved and he is now doing a large catering order. This is my new favourite spot. I recommend going with a few people and trying a few different dishes. The portions are large the plantain fried perfectly can t forget that that extra sweetness. I couldn t stop eating. So I am from north of kingston and I stopped here today on a recommendation from a passerby who I asked where was good to eat in the area just as I was leaving an appointment. I ordered the Small Jerk Chicken and Oxtail and I must say I ve eaten at a lot of small restaurants as I find they usually have the best food, the food here was no different and was amazing. So much so, that I went back in after I ate in the car and ordered another order to take home for my wife. She also loved the food. She said it was very authentic and took her back to when she would visit her family in the Caribbean and areas in the south when she was younger. I will definitely be stopping back next time I m in Ottawa. The young lady on staff was very friendly and everything was delicious. Thanks for a great meal in the middle of a rotten time we have all had to endure. Thanks again. Edit: I have been back three times over a two hour drive to get there and I do it just for their food!! I love it, nothing is nearly as authentic as their Jerk Chicken and Oxtail is I love it. Even the sides are perfect. I ll be back again I m sure of it. Thanks again.

Proper eats

Today was my first time ordering food from Ocho Rios Carribean Eatery and I was extremely pleased with the Jamacain food I had; it was delicious! I got a small plate of Curried Chicken that came with rice and peas (red beans), a slice of fried plantain, and I selected the mixed vegetables fir my side dish which was cooked cabbage with some peas and diced carrots. The portions were generous and the mild curry sauce had just the right amount of heat to my liking, and the price was reasonable. The food here is excellent and authentic, so yes, the chicken will be on the bone! I did get a sense that they do mostly take-out orders here. The small restaurant has about 4 tables and the decor is sparse, so not very appealing for dining in. It wouldnt take much in the way of some added artwork (even some Bob Marley or other reggae posters?) to liven up the space. If the atmosphere was improved, I wouldnt hesitate to provide a 5 star review across the board!

Had jerk chicken with rice and peas and a serving of oxtail with rice and peas. Really disappointed by the chicken flavor. It was not fall off the bone flavorful. Tasted as if it was quickly cooled and rubbed with jerk chicken flavor. It was not spicy or flavorful. The beef patty was good and the rice was fantastic.

Food was really good, however at lunch it s not super convenient. Took 20 min to get a walk-in order.

I can say that this is hands down the best Jamaican food I ve had in Ottawa. The oxtail and jerk chicken is both so tender and flavourful. The fried dumplings are crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. My favourite thing here is the fried chicken. It s such a simple dish but they somehow execute it perfectly. Perfectly seasoned with a juicy and tender interior under the crispy skin.Not to mention the potions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. I always order on Uber eats and it comes scolding hot after a 30 minute travel. Definitely worth trying!

A wonderful deal when it came down to the jerk chicken platter. $20 and it came with a large platter and a small one. In 2022 it s hard to get a good deal like that for some great food. I would definitely recommend this place because the meal was so delicious. I m looking forward to going in the actual store to pick up rather than delivery.

I literally got my food and was like I should have order some and BOOM they had included it already. The food was fresh and the portions are huge. Jerk chicken and Ox Tail that makes you say Ya mon

I tried this restaurant out on Uber. I have to admit that this is, perhaps, some of the finest food Ive had in recent months. I had the Curried Goat and Fried Chicken combo, and the Jerk Chicken. All of the meat was beautifully spiced and of a high quality. The dish was completed with steamed veggies, rice and peas- all of it very flavourful and in generous portion sizes. If you want to have food that is exquisitely delicious AND a delectable deal too, then Ocho Rios is the number one choice. Im very happy I tried this. I will be excited to try more of their incredible food again in the near future.

I got more than I expected! Delivery of very generous portions that tasted authentic. I really appreciated the grave was thick and well-spiced. The meat for both meals were well-cooked and tender. It s a fair value for the price.

Ordered through Uber eats. First of all, the portions were huge! That was a plus as most Caribbean restaurants are very stingy with the portions. The Oxtail was delicious however, the jerk chicken was dry, without sauce so hence the 4 stars. Will definitely eat there again but I highly recommend they put sauce on their jerk chicken.

Excellent food

Got here around 6:15, shortly before they close, and was lucky to get their oxtail and last order of jerk chicken. The oxtail was divine. Tender, generous portions with plenty of gravy. Flavours were on point, and also had dumpling in it. The jerk chicken was good, but a bit dry. There was a bit of gravy on the rice but it needed more. Flavours could be a bit stronger and I wish it was spicier, but it was still tasty. Service was friendly and fast, and the place is clean. Server masked up and plexiglass between the cashier and order area.

If I bought their food in Jamaica I wouldnt be disappointed. Its definitely not as spicy or flavourful as my favorite places to get Ackee or Oxtail in JA but if you are looking for authentic food with decent portion sizes this is the best place I have tried in Ottawa (all the others were tried once and never again). They always serve way more rice with the dish than the Ackee or Oxtail itself but thats also common of restaurants in the Caribbean!

Definitely authentic Caribbean cuisine. The service was professional, quick and welcoming. Went in on a whim and no regrets at all. I got the double plate of jerk chicken and curry chicken, both very flavourful and reminded me of grannys cooking! They were not at all stingy, Great Portions!! Especially compared to other Caribbean eateries and what they charge. They do sometimes run out of food because of how popular it is, so go closer to opening time. Some people may view this as a con, but its a pro in my eyes, food is constantly coming in and out, so you know what youre eating is fresher than some other restaurants.. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Theyll be getting my services in the near future! Go in-store if you can, Ive ordered UberEats from them in 2020, sometimes a hit or miss in terms of quality.

Delicious....food was very delicious. I ordered the curry goat with rice and peas, plantain and coleslaw, my other half had the curry chicken with rice and peas and steamed veg. He chewed down to the bones the way the chicken was so sweet. The goat was just superb tasted just as good as my moms and she can cook. We grabbed dinner for us and our family last night (3 goat curry rotis and 1 chicken curry roti). The food was way too salty but okay. However overnight and the next morning it made all 4 of us sick. It happened for me when I got up at 9am and still going even now. Avoid.

I decided to try Ocho Rios because it s the closet Caribbean restaurant to my neighbourhood. My first impression was that the service was good, and the inside of the restaurant is clean. I ordered 1 large Jerk chicken. 1 large oxtail. And a beef patty. The oxtail was pretty good. And the patty was good, however, unfortunately I didn t enjoy the jerk chicken. It was beyond dry to the point that I couldn t finish it. If you keep scrolling, there are a few other reviews where people also felt like the jerk chicken was dry. I would recommend trying the jerk chicken from Fishy s Tropical on Montreal Rd. It s tender, flavourful, with a nice kick to it. I guarantee you won t regret it.

A true gem in Ottawa south! I placed a large order for a party and requested the food to be packed buffet-style. My order consisted of oxtail stew, curry chicken, rice and peas, plaintains and patties. Cheryl was a huge pleasure to work with and she ensured everything was perfect and that I had the right amount of food. She was even able to accommodate my request to lessen the spice level. Everything was packed with care and on time as requested. My guests were very impressed with the quality of the food and even mentioned that it was better than any food they had in Jamaica! Everything was so delicious!! I highly recommend going to Ocho Rios carribean eatery whether for a snack, or a meal, or whenever you need some carribean catering! The staff is so friendly too! Our first time trying Ocho Rios and got the large Oxtail. Best weve tried in Ottawa yet!! Were tried a couple other Caribbean restaurants around Ottawa and they were mediocre at best. The Oxtail that we got from Ocho Rios was great and the portion was plenty!! The taste is comparable to our favourite carribean Oxtail place in Toronto. Well be back for more - @kiengstagram

Everyone is super friendly there, Customer service rocks. But most of all their food is our of this world. Most places where I buy my jark chickens from; are too spicy but here is just right and for the oxe tail I have to say wow, really juicy and the flavor combines with that amazing. To the staffs there, thank you for your hard work and stay safe during this pandemic. I will be back for more. From Saneth.

We ve tried many Caribbean and African restaurants in Ottawa and by far to be honest this is the best restaurant we ve ever tried. The girl that took our order at the cash register today was amazing and helped us with the suggestions. We will definitely be back.

I WAS a regular customer of this restaurant. After todays experience, I actually called the restaurant to inquire if their owner had changed because the order was so unsatisfactory. The flavor of the food was okay, however the portion was for a 5 year old child. I had asked for my roti and goat to be unwrapped, which was not done and then I had to get it redone. I asked for pepper sauce, and got Franks Red hot sauce. I called the restaurant to discuss what they can improve, and there was no sence of customer service. I was not looking for money or a free meal, I wanted to give my feedback, but it was just not taken well. There are many other Carribean restaurants in Ottawa. I was supporting this business because its local, but no more. Very disappointed. Update: July 23, 2020: As we can all see the poor level of customer service. I guess you dont understand that im not complaining about a sauce. Clearly youre the same lady I spoke to over the phone. Poorest customer service Ive experienced. So unprofessional that you actually instead of apologising from a customer service point of view, youre trying to blame this on covid? Please get real lady. Just to clarify, when did I ask for a free sauce? If I paid $17 for my meal, paying a little more for a sauce wouldnt make a difference. Things like this can make the meal a failure or success.

Ordered from here via Ubereats twice and both times the food is consistent and favourable. Oxtails - nice portion size and jerk chicken - nice heat (spicy). Good portion for the price and would order from here again.

Very tasty food, very pleasant employees and always very clean. The oxtail is sometimes more bone than meat but the flavour is always outstanding. The curry chicken and curry goat are very good as well. Worth trying if you are in the South Keys area.

Ive eaten roti at many places. Some fantastic, some just OK I ordered the Boneless Chicken Roti At Ocho Rios Caribbean Eatery... it was OK the flavour was meh! honestly cant get why flavour cant be ramped up so its mouth watering and exquisite.... especially for the price. Spices dont cost a whole lot, especially when a restaurant can buy wholesale. The amount of filling was kinda skimpy. Probably 1/2 what Im used to seeing at some other places. So, wasnt impressed when I opened the package to see how much I got for the price. It was NOT boneless!!!!! OMG, I nearly cracked a tooth on the first bone. Then had to pick through and eat so carefully to not hit another bone. See photo. A LOT of bones for something supposedly boneless. No other place Ive ordered from before had any bones!! Cheryl, I think you need to learn how to improve your customer service skills wrt engaging with customers. You lack friendliness, a smile goes a long way, as does a warm welcoming personality. The roti itself, was very good. Loved the texture and flavour They make the chicken roti while you wait, so plan for that. Clean facilities. The young gal at the front was superb, friendly and efficient. Ill Not be back Edit: first off, I did not stop in when you think I did. I never mentioned when I stopped in. And you dont even know me, so how do you know when I came into your shop?? 2nd, Cheryl you were at the front when I walked in. 3rd I WAS charged for a boneless chicken roti -- given that you dont know which day I came into your shop and ordered, how would you know what I was charged?? 4th the young girl at the front did nothing wrong... so no need to be correcting her about anything.

I came in to order on Tuesday and felt very welcomed by the lady working in the front she was helpful, kind and reliant. I ordered a meal on Uber today and loved these cookies! The food was fresh, properly prepared and a great value for the price. I highly recommend it!

Simply the best! Ive eaten here for almsot a year and everything is so well-made and large propotion. I wish they have fried potatoes though, that will certainly make the best Carribean food in town! Edit: guys can you pleaseeeee add fried potatoes to the menu

Man I love this place. I always ask for extra jerk sauce on the rice. The jerk sauce is so good and the chicken is fall off the bone tender. Im glad Carribean cuisine is getting more popular these days. They give a lot of food too. Highly recommended. They give way more plantain than most places and that creamy coleslaw is so good!

Ive ordered here once and I wasnt impressed with the food. The rice was bland with more flavours it. The meat was okay was okay but stingy portions like most caribbean restaurants.

I love this place, the chef / owner is great and always provides whatever we request. The prices are very decent for the large portions. They change staff often but I will go there over any other Caribbean restaurant in the city.

Disappointed. The akee and cod fish was bland, and little of it. The peas and rice were ok, but needed some sauce, gravy, eh.

Absolutely delicious roti, jerk chicken, and curry goat. We had them prepare for a 50+ person event and everything still came out with the highest quality and rich flavour. We also appreciated how accommodating they were throughout the event planning phase. Must try if you are looking for a tasty meal in Ottawa.

The cashier working was extremely rude and disrespectful. Responding with attitude for no reason and couldn t even answer simple questions about the food. The food was okay but wasn t the greatest.

Best Carribean food around!

The Curry Goat & Chicken dish was good, but forget the roti. They sent them full of rice and chicken had bones. Very disappointing.

I m from Toronto and this is the only place I can think of that has West Indian food that is comparable to food from Scarborough. My only recommendation is to fix your high chair!

Ive tried several Caribbean in Ottawa over the last 10 years. This one has my favorite jerk chicken. Decent prices, quantities and the tasty.

The brown stew Chicken is honestly the best thing there.
