1800 Bank St, Ottawa, ON K1V 0W3, Canada
Casual restaurant serving familiar Chinese dishes, including Peking duck & curry beef.
Dim sum is good for Ottawa standards, same with the dishes. Speedy, courteous service particularly if you know the ins and outs of a typical Chinese restaurant. Not the best I've had, but good attempt at the more authentic Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine. If you as a diner don't know the difference, and if you want to order combos of chicken balls, egg rolls, sweet and sour ribs with chicken fried rice, etc., I'd say you mind as well go to a Chinese take out restaurant that has no seating. This place has better traditional Chinese cuisine than Westernized Chinese food.
The food at this restaurant was absolutely amazing, and the waiter provided exceptional customer service—hilarious, friendly, and engaging, making the entire dining experience unforgettable. 10/10 for both the food and customer service! If you're looking for the best Chinese and dim sum in Ottawa, this place is a must-visit!
More staff and have vip rm. The food here is delicious and many chinese customers during lunchtime at 1.30 pm. We have ordered Dim Sum and just wait for 5 minutes. All the food arrives on our table. Super efficient service. Sorry I didn't take any pictures as the food is too nice to be eaten and forget to take picture.
Ridiculously bad food. The sweet and sour pork is full of fried flour balls faked as pork. We are a big group and ordered a bunch of food (10-11 dishes can't remember), all of them are super sweet feels like sugar is free today. What a shame to be a Chinese restaurant!
Came on a Sunday lunch time and they had dim sum. The dim sum was okay but not sure if I'd come back for it. I am very curious about their normal menu offerings. And they have good seating!
Loved the building, the design, the menu and furniture, and I appreciated the service, the staff was helpful and kind. The food was overall ok, and portions were generous, but my chicken meat tasted old, as if it was defrosted and frozen again. I can't say for sure what happened, but that meat was definitely not fresh.
Looks modest on the outside but the interior is beautiful. Food was amazing, we had dim sum in the afternoon. It took quite a while to come though, about 20 minutes. There was only one waitress there but she was attentive and efficient. Take a look at my photos and you know that they serve good food. We accidentally ordered a little too much and the waitress noticed and suggested that we drop some dishes otherwise we would over-order. Very honest. Would definitely come back again.
This has got to be the most elegant Chinese restaurant in town. The food quality was excellent. Our table ordered around 15 different dim sum items, and I don't recall any of them being bad. A must try, whether you're eating alone or with a group.
The food was bland, cold, and gross. There were flies everywhere too. The service was good tho. Nice service.
It tastes really bad. Really, really, really, really don t come here. All the dishes I ordered were so bad that they were like dishwashing dishes.
Ancient Love.
I ordered a duck, and as soon as it was served, I saw the hair on the duck skin. It was disgusting. I told the waiter that I couldnt return it, and he had a bad attitude. The other dishes were all terrible. The cumin mutton felt like it had been hit by a car, not as good as Liu Gongs grilled fish. No wonder the rating is low. Please close down soon and never come again. It s disgusting.
Peking duck was amazing
Insane amount of grit in my teeth trying to eat the pork ribs. Also ordered the peking duck which was somehow dry while greasy, and also lacking taste. Shanghai noodles had egg noodles that looked like bowtie pasta. The canned iced tea was indeed a can of iced tea, but more expensive than the rest of the canned drinks without being any larger. Terrible and will make sure no one I know ever goes to this restaurant.
2nd time getting food here same great service.
Food was delicious very generous portion
We didnt dine in, we had take out. The food was delicious. Food
Typical Chinese restaurant. Very good dishes. Friendly service.
Went there for their dimsum ... Ottawa limited place for good dimsum...some food are lukewarm some are hot...not much selection
I asked where the bathroom was and wanted to wash some fruit. The waiter helped me wash it and put it on the plate. The service was good. The table is big enough for a dozen friends to have dinner together
Tasty and great selection of food on the menu. Service is always great. The decor needs to be updated but the food was good.
Your classic favorites served in a quiet restaurant. I will be back again.
I had a wonderful time eating here with my friend. We were surprised when a kind lady nearby paid for our meal. The waiter offered us exceptional service and seemed to be so touched by her generosity, that he ended up giving us complimentary rice. The food was fantastic, and my friend made sure to leave a tip on top. The whole experience was a 10/10. I highly recommend this place!
The worst Chinese food I ever had in N. America. I am not comparing with the standard in China but the local American Chinese standard. We ordered like 7-8 dishes, but every dish was made totally wrong way: with wrong ingredients and wrong seasoning. Half of the food was not even cooked all the way but half raw. Service was good but the food was simply horrible!
Menu: simple. Service: simple. Environment: simple. Tipping: 15% LOL Food : 3/5 |
Thank you Max
Do not get the kung pao chicken it tastes like soap
Good and fast Dim Sum, although I wish they had retained the carts they used pre-pandemic instead of going to paper-ordering! Wheelchair accessibility: Very tight (under 30 ) washroom doors, but accessible!
I am excellent dim!!
Delicious food. Friendly staff.
Dim sum is excellent and the portion is generous. Service is great as well. Will go back and try their dinner menu.
I know the history of the restaurant isnt great, but some of the food Ive had recently were great. Dont order the Canadian-Chinese stuff. Their traditional Chinese dishes quite good. Dim sum here is a lot better, I believe they are made in house, as their shumai are way bigger and have more fish eggs than the pre-made stuff you normally see at some places. Portions for the noodle soup/stir fried noodles were big enough for two meals. After eating for 30 minutes, the leftover noodles barely fit the takeout container they gave us. Service was also very good, seemingly improved from before. Atmosphere was a bit dingy and old, but you dont come here for the decor. You can get a great meal(s) for under $20 per person. Vegetarian options: Tons of vegetarian/pesecatarian options. However, do ask about the menu items, as some of them might have hidden meat in the sea food dumplings.
Best Dimsum in Ottawa, No doubt at all. It wasn t my first and wont be my last time visit here. Food : 5/5
Very delicious
Tasty and authentic Beijing-style restaurant.
This was so disappointing. We had made a reservation for my birthday, we were brought to the back to join another party by mistake, then taken to the worst table in the restaurant. The menu has mistakes. They call pot stickers things are are truly not. They refer to beef tripes as beef stripes. The oil they use for anything deep fried needs a change. Everything was oily. The squid was inedible. Some of the dumplings came apart by just looking at them. The only good thing on the menu was the shrimp shumai. The service throughout was sub par. We had to ran after them for water. We left before our last dish arrived. They don t bring your order cards and you can t reconcile with the bill. Last of all, my child asked for a fortune cookie he waited 30 minutes for and had to ask again. He is 5.
I went to this restaurant because they showed open end egg rolls on their menu. So I ordered 4 with some Honey garlic ribs. Pricy yes. When I got home to my surprise I got these 4 close ended egg rolls. Definitely not worth 8.50 for 4. I was really ticked off. Ribs.. Amazing. Parking: Good.
This is the style that I come back for. Get the steamed BBQ bun its a cake with honey and pork then seafood soup I think that is here to stay. I like fresh cabbage on sticky rice the cook rolls big leafs. Extremely nice today and smiling polite spacey restaurant. Wonton next soon
We went there few times as group and the dishes were not very consistent in quality. We were about 12 people, and each of us felt different dishes varied in qualities or in consistency. Some beefs were dry like leather, broccoli was almost raw, spring rolls/egg rolls were very greasy and not that tasty. Hot and sour soups were spicy and great. Main dishes were good but nothing extraordinary. Staff were good and gave good service.
The older Asian lady is rude. When I asked for the food to be a little spicy and add a little more sauce as it was a little dry for me, I could hear her mock me first spicy, now more sauce!. Then, she was constantly hovering around the table making me feel like I had to leave soon. I was only half way through my meal and I felt rushed by her. She first stood in front staring at us, then moved to the side, then in front of our table with her back on us, then stood looking at the corner. She is intimidating and seems like ready to fight if I asked her another question. The food was well made so complements to the kitchen.
Great place for dim sum.
Dined in last night. Im super fussy about good Authentic Chinese Food too but this did not disappoint my Husband and I are all. Hot and fresh food arrived in a timely manner. The Peking Duck was so very good. Keep up the good work guys. We will be back very soon with Friends this time. Highly recommended...
One of the best Chinese restaurants. Authentic.
Beijing Legend has truly earned its name as a culinary gem. Stepping into the restaurant, I was immediately captivated by the elegant atmosphere, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience. The BBQ pork at Beijing Legend is nothing short of spectacular. The succulent, flavorful meat combined with the expertly cooked steam rice created a harmony of tastes that lingered on my palate. Each bite was a celebration of authentic Chinese flavors. The service at Beijing Legend was exceptional. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. The attention to detail in the presentation of dishes showcased the restaurant s commitment to excellence. From the moment I walked in to the last bite, Beijing Legend surpassed all expectations. If you re seeking an immersive culinary journey through Chinese cuisine, this restaurant is a true legend. I wholeheartedly give it a five-star rating and can t wait to return for another exquisite meal.
Amazing dim sum! Best service in the city!
Had amazing dim sum lunch here. Wonderful service by Max and staff. Very accommodation. Very fresh dimsum.
Went for holiday dim sum! It was very busy and I could tell there were lots of deliveries happening as well but the staff worked very hard to serve everyone efficiently! Special shout out to Mat who had to manage pretty much all the front of house business singlehandedly! The dim sum was fresh and very good. Lots of great options for sharing. And choices for different dietary needs are available! Vegetarian options: Many veggie or soy based dishes available for people looking for meat free options Dietary restrictions: They offer many vegetarian options and they will do whatever they can to accommodate your restrictions upon request. Parking: Large parking area and usually isnt too full or busy Kid-friendliness: No designated kids menu but there are so many delicious traditional chinese dish options any kid should find something to enjoy! Wheelchair accessibility: They have a large entrance able to fit wheelchairs through and there are no steps to worry about but there is no automatic button
One of the best places to eat Chinese in Ottawa . Max helped us and it was great all around
It was amazing restaurant.Thanks Max
It used to be one the best to go but service has gone down the last 3 times that we went. Straight up disrespectful when you get served no water or tea, even a menu before the table coming in after us. We will not be going back.
Usually my family and I come here for nice meal, but recently the service has really gone downhill. It takes at least 15 mins to be seat with plenty of tables available. My family and I were also seated at an unset table. After 10 minutes, the table is set in front of us and it takes another 10 minutes to get chopsticks and napkins. Another 20 minutes passes and the server waits another table while we are still without tea or a menu. We left with our stomachs still empty and our time wasted.
Service has been terrible recently. Wait times are extremely long and the server chooses which tables to check up on at random. My group and I left after being ignored multiple times without even served tea after sitting for at least 30 minutes. Also not the first time this has happened and this is the last time I will be going back until the reviews say they have better servers.
Great Service from Max. The venue is great and enjoyed the food as well.
We came on a Thursday night and it was absolutely empty. They told us to sit anywhere. Staff was quite friendly at the start. After waiting for like 30 minutes, the food finally came. It was mostly mediocre but one or two dishes were not bad. At the end we wanted to split the bills but apparently it was too much hassle, and server kept complaining how annoying it was. Wouldnt exactly recommend the place.
Not too many places in Ottawa that offers Peking duck - this place does, and its very good. XieXie
Delicious food. You wont be disappointed.
Food was good but service was terrible. Some of the new servers seemed incompetent ( waited 20+ mins for the table to be made ready, asked for water multiple times and never came) Update - Feb 22. The quality of food has gone down as. Service is even worse than before
Horrible service. Seriously understaffed and the egg roles were very dry. I find it sad to write such a negative review but they are responsible to offer at least a minimum of service but they did not do that. The restaurant was almost empty (2 tables) and we had to go and order directly to the elderly waitress. No drinks were offered and they never came to ck if the food was ok. We waited over 40 minutes and we had to go and order to the waitress even if they only had 2 tables.
Max did very good job . Thank you Max
The service was great, had dim sum for the first time. But I don t recommend the pineapple orange pork ( from the lunch special, the pork chuck taste really dry. Everything else are very good.
Very slow service in comparison to other dim sum places that I ve been in Ottawa, they only had one server stand by during lunch time, don t eat here in you are in a timely manner
There was just something off about tonights food it was just off. Still the best Chinese restaurant!
Very good customer service, foods tasty. Our family really enjoyed the gathering in the private room. !!! The areas of improvement, the interior is bit dated and needs refresh. Food
The food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The menu offered a wide variety of options to choose from, and everything was fresh and flavorful. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends and family.
I have been here a few times and I have forgotten to give a review.. not this time the food is so delicious everything I try just amazing the flavor of the sui mai sticky rice ginger squid the list of plates I could rhyme off that Ive tried. Go give it a try if you want authentic Chinese food and the staff are very friendly and attentive .
The steamed fish tastes very good. The waiter Max has a very nice attitude and is skillful in opening fish.
If you don t compare with Toronto. This is pretty decent dimsum restaurant in Ottawa. Parking: big parking lot nearby
Beautiful place with nice food. The cutlery we were given clearly wasnt washed, though, which is a little concerning...
Taste wise the best dim sum in Ottawa. Decor is ho hum, service can be rather slow and indifferent.
My go to place for dim sum in Ottawa! Dishes are well seasoned and made fresh the biggest highlight that I recommend everyone gets if they go for dim sum here is their steam ginger squid. The best flavoured and freshest I ve had in all of Ottawa!
The tofu and shrimp ball are good. Will come again.
Every dish is delicious, and the waiter Max is also very enthusiastic!
Went there for dinner on my date, service was excellent as was the dishes. Highly recommend. And Kim was awesome
Inedible. Save your money and go to McDonalds.
Junk service. Junk food
Amazing food, reasonably priced and good sized portions.
The wood tables for groups of more than 4 or 5 are very uncomfortable. You cannot fit your knees under them unless you are short or small. The hard wood chairs are uncomfortable. The chicken in one dish didnt taste fresh. The service was slow initially even though the restaurant was not busy. The prices were reasonable.
Good food
Surprisingly great food I found it to be! I had come here sporadically in the past 2 years. I happened to dine here last week with a large group of family (wife) members. Even though I do not like seafood I made an effort to try such delicacies as crab-meat & corn soup for example. I loved the ginger-beef and vegetable platter and assorted mushroom & Chinese vegetables among others. We were also well taken care by friendly staff especially the young waitress with the nice rose tattoos. Will definitely come back again with my family. UPDATE: Today we had some sort of major issues with some of the dishes. Staff made the effort to correct it by not including them on our bill.
Very good dim sum
Waited 3 hours from getting a table to finishing our meal. Food came cold and had no flavour. They also ran out of the dishes we ordered.
Was here for a nice lunch with family and waited 3 hours to be served. It Once the food arrived, it was cold and lacked flavour. During the time we placed our order, took 30 minutes to let us know that certain dishes were sold out. Service is horrible here and clean up is also very slow. I highly recommend that as a restaurant, you make sure there s a flow or you re going to lose both customers and business.
Desserts and dinner are not as good as before, sometimes disappointing.
The seafood was great! Really enjoyed this Ottawa gem!
A legend? Perhaps for the nightmares it can give to some customers. I hate to say it, but if youre not Chinese, dont go to this restaurant. Im not generalizing all Chinese people, but as a customer, I have to say that this restaurant doesnt want to serve anyone other than Chinese people, I wish thered been an explicit warning at the entrance, its your business, you do what you want, but at least have the decency to tell non-chinese people you dont like to serve them, and theyre not welcome. The waitress could not speak English nor French. Not all dishes we ordered was served, wrong dish was sent instead. Waitress closes were dirt, unbelievable. We were not served water, when I asked for the bill, I was informed to come early if I want to eat what is in the menu, so if you dont have the food available, just scrap it off from the menu, dont let customers to order it, wait for almost 1h to say you run out and I should come early. Then when I paid the bill, I was informed the tips were not included, i informed i was not happy with the service, then the waitress just throw the few coins i had left on the table, back to my wifes purse, just this on its own show how minimal respect this place has for customers that are not part of their background.
It s cool service
-General Tao Chicken was hard as a rock, seems odd mix old with little fresh pieces. -Chicken fried rice one of the worst ever had very bad. -Shrimp balls YUK werent edible -Stir fried beef with ginger& onion was decent -Chicken balls were ok -Spring rolls, not so good Overall most items went to the garbage. First visit & last
These people have no morals, ethics or compassion. We ordered a meal through skip the dishes. The driver from skip picked up the wrong order and delivered the wrong order to our hotel. This was both Skip the dishes and the restaurants fault for not checking the order before leaving the restaurant. We had already been waiting over an hour until this point when my wife called the restaurant (while messaging skip to see what could be done to get our order) and asked them to do the right thing and deliver our order. We were waiting in the lobby with our four young kids all under the age of 10. The guy (who speaks proper English and completely understood what was going on) from Beijing Legend told my wife that they would send one of their own drivers and that it would be there in 10 mins after taking the hotel address and phone number from her (the hotel staff confirmed they also heard the whole conversation as it was on speaker phone). After another 45 mins passed I called the restaurant and they refused to send the order stating that the fault laid with Skip and the contact their customer service . Instead of just sending the food like they promised, these dishonest, cheap, insensitive people let our $100+ order go to waste (or likely resold it to some unsuspecting customer) and left us to starve (2 adults and 4 children ages 1 to 9) shameful to say the least. God is watching and these people will get what they deserve for allowing babies and kids to starve like they did. For those who support these people, remember you are dealing with cheap and dishonest people who give honest Chinese restaurants a bad name. Shame on you dishonest people.
One of the better dim sum places in Ottawa. I prefer to come here instead of Sea King due to less crowded restaurant. Service is typical for old chinese restaurants. Not great but not terrible if you adjust your expectation.
Has a large selection of dishes and all of the ones Ive tried so far have been very tasty! Kind of obsessed with their black pepper beef in particular. If you are looking for authentic Chinese food in the area this is definitely one of the places to go.
As a Chinese, this restaurant is very good for the people who likes light tastes(I mean no salty). I was enjoying my dinner there. Recommend!
We like coming here for some good chinese food in the area. Its mostly northern style but it has other regional dishes. It has plenty of seating and parking. Staff comes out with food in a timely manner. Their crispy beef, Beijing duck, and vegetable dishes are not bad. For the location, price, and portion, its worth it.
Food is below average
The food is really good. And the place looks really nice inside.
They gave me an order of chicken balls, and an order of eggrolls, but NO SAUCE- no red sauce for the balls and no sweet sauce for the egg rolls. How am I supposed to eat this with no sauce?! Terrible.
Served with broken dumplings look like broiled by a three year old. Other food also tastes below average.
I found this bug in my spicy jellyfish. I throw the whole dish. I wouldn t go again and I don t recommend the place anymore. You guys could do better on the quality control with the food.
Food is decent, no complaints
One of the few places left in town for superb dimsum with excellent, attentive service and great variety
I ordered on DoorDash, but due to the platforms policies, Im posting my review here. It wasnt published there because, according to DoorDash, it doesnt meet their criteria. Ive attached a photo of my order. The chicken had no flavor, the sauce it had seemed like plain water, it only tasted like oil, and the roll was soaked in oil, not crunchy at all. The quality on a scale of 1 to 5 would be 0.
The location is very good for us, and it is accessible by elders using walkers.
Their dinning room is open now, Parking: Most of time ,easy to get parking spot. They also have parking space available at back of building Food : 4/5 |
Poor quality Poor customer service Food
The environment is pretty good in Ottawa. It was half full during breakfast and lunch hours. The dim sum was not up to standard. The noodles made in the kitchen tasted acceptable. The attitude of the waiters was good but there were only two people on the floor. The restaurant was a bit busy. The speed of the food was standard and there were plenty of parking spaces.
I really like this place, they are amazing, very freindly staff with great food
I ve been to Beijing legend a few times now and the food and service has always been fantastic! I highly recommend eating here if you re hungry for good food
Chinese food is delicious and the taste is suitable for Asians
Our go-to dimsum place! The wok hei is amazing as well - so order some fried rice or the highly recommended Singaporean noodles! Service is quick. This is where you ll see all the Chinese grandmas eat you ll know it s good!
Aeathetically pleasing. But understaffed. Waited a little too long for take out. But staff is pleasant.
Better than Yangtze for sure. Food just taste better. The baked cha Sui bao sells out quick. So order those right away
The whole world knows that J&J vaccine has only one dose but they dont. They are probably the most ignorant people in the whole Canada
Scammed. Go somewhere else. Dont dine in and dont order takeout/delivery. I went on New Years Eve and ordered the full peking duck from the dine in menu. The dine in menu said $42.95 and when I received the bill it said $57.95. The waiter told me that the dine in menu was outdated and that I needed to pay the new updated price even though there was no mention at all. The boss lady walked over and we told her we felt tricked and she did not correct this for us. This is how they treat fellow Chinese people, so it goes to show what theyre willing to do to milk every dollar out of their customers. BTW the whole time there the phone was ringing off the hook and skip drivers were piling up at the door with several of them waiting 15+ minutes for the food. They clearly cannot meet demand; order from here if you enjoy getting your food late.
The food there has excellent portions and reasonable prices. My friends and I visited them several times and in all of those occasions we were able to have a great meal and get nice services from the staff working there. The seafood soup thing was absolutely delicious and is a must order for sure.
For Ottawa , this is descent Dimsum during lunch hours.
Amazing dim sum! Can t wait for going to next time. Thanks for the good service.
Great Place, food always cooked perfect, great service
Rude and arrogant waitress demanded a tip
Great service and amazing food. Highly recommend. I go there multiple times.
Tried their half Beijing duck burrito style. Dont get those kind of dishes much in Ottawa. Tasted good but a bit expansive.
Delicious food, well priced, and the staff are thorough and considerate. We did an UberEats order and the driver forgot two items. The restaurant phoned me and offered to bring us the items to our door themselves. The food was delicious. Will go back!
Nice
the yang chow fried rice and the lemon chicken were great! nice dining area and staff are nice.
Ordered two dishes - deep fried pork and veg and Singaporean fried vermicelli. The deep fried pork and veg ( ) - more glutinous rice than pork and veg. There were no vegetables inside the dumpling and small portion of minced pork. They were soggy and full of grease when delivered. I had to air fry them to get back its crispy texture but even that didnt help with the amount of filling inside the dumpling. I ordered deep fried pork and veg ( ) from another restaurant through Uber and they did not arrived soggy. One star because I was able to revive them using an air fryer. Singaporean fried vermicelli - what disaster! It didnt had the curry flavour instead I think turmeric and white pepper were used to create the dish. I would not recommend the dish but I gave one star for the amount of BBQ and shrimp in the dish.
So good and fresh
Food is very mediocre and overly greasy. Like other reviews below, extra charges appeared on the bill that were not ordered. Lastly the restaurant still has shark fin soup bring served in 2022. Wont be visiting here again.
Just tried to call for a reservation... WHAT DO YOU WANT was the response... Well get food somewhere else
Prices are fair and servings are larger than normal! Great place for a late night Chinese fare. Out of curiosity I inquired about the shark fin soup that was displayed on the menu for over $100 for a large serving, and was told off abruptly. Doesn t change my experience, but I felt shoo d away from asking about the menu.
I just tried this place again for take out after a long interval and compared early covid to now on price for their very tasty hot and sour soup.No price mark up so thats really quite amazing.I also love their wonderful , crispy , meaty , lightly and perfectly five spiced egg rolls. The waitress was very good too and I got a free batch of won ton soup.
This place is so underrated in this city on Google Reviews, I dont really understand why. Their main food is fine, weve had a banquet dinner there once before which had some mixed dishes but overall was okay for this city. Where Beijing Legend gets it right is their dim sum. There is nowhere better in the city for dim sum. Period, full stop. Hung Sum may have been in contention before but having gone again recently, their quality seems to have taken a bit of a dip (the chiu chow dumplings were frankly a bit stinky and the wrappers for everything were a bit thicker than I remembered previously, though everything else was mostly still good). Meanwhile, Ive been to Beijing Legend numerous times with multiple people, and finally went back for the first time post-pandemic a few weeks ago and for the most part, it hasnt lost a step. Their har gows do fall apart a bit, and the beef cheung fun didnt taste so great this time, but everything else was great and as consistent as it always has been. And this place is second to none for variety in the city when it comes to dim sum. The taro puffs were delicious, the ginger and green onion squid was cooked to perfection, no chewiness whatsoever. The egg tarts had the multiple layers of pastry that they should. Honestly, I think this place really deserves more credit in this city, even just for the egg tarts alone as the only place that seems to actually make egg tarts themselves and do it well. Ngs Cuisine is too greasy when it comes to their dim sum, Hung Sum is solid but recently wasnt so good, Yangtze is decent if you just have a quick dim sum craving, Oriental Chu Shing, YiMin and Has dont even bother. Are there better places in Toronto? Tons. But for Ottawa, this is as good as it gets.
Amazing food! Such large portions! This is our new favourite!
Lunch special was very good and at a great price, waitress was very nice too!
I ordered take out and it was just not good. I use to order from this place and it was so good. The quality is no longer there and inedible food. Probably won t order from they anytime soon
Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat! Retreat!
lou
One of the best dim sum places in Ottawa.
Its quite an authentic roast duck. Cabbage and tofu are added to the soup, which tastes pretty good. Worth a visit.
Dim sum dishes took half an hr to get to us with no update. All the dim sum dishes were mid, theres better in ottawa like seaking. Gon chow ngau ho was like 75% bean sprouts lol
The food was so delicious and portions were enough for two adults to share. We thoroughly enjoyed every item on our order. The restaurant was almost empty which we appreciated as well. Lovely ambience, toilets were clean even though two out of the three were out of service in the women s restroom.
Flavor is authentic and dim sum deserves 5-stars. The a la carte is huge as usual so careful what you pick. There are hidden gem and tasty common ones, so give it a try. Service can be challenging but worth the flavor and price, which challenges the top Chinese restaurants in town.
Very authentic Chinese food. Delicious.
Kinda good, service can be faster
Morning tea at 11 am, the environment is very good and the taste is very authentic. I will recommend it to my friends.
Wow, such good food. Try the sticky rice!
Always good service, always a great price.
Missing most of the order. Didnt deliver the reminder or the order after requesting them to do so.
I ordered from here many times. Generally, all was good (besides some majorly under-cooked chicken balls in one order). But this last time, was probably just that, the last time I order from here. Attached are photos that show why. A 3-4 inch strand of metal (probably from the opening of a can of ingredients), found in amongst one of my dishes (stir fried lamb & veggies). So not sitting on top where you might notice it right away, but buried in the meal. Just luck that I noticed it as I was dishing up a plate. Restaurant needs to have better quality control measures implemented in their kitchen.
Kong Pao chicken and fish sauce eggplant were both delicious
Support boiled fish
Beautiful environment, authentic taste, enthusiastic service and fair price
Confession boiled fish (although they are all delicious)
Parking: 30
Average Chinese food, the chicken balls were good and tasted fresh but didn t come with sweat and sour sauce. I ordered on Uber eats pick up and the restaurant said it was ready for pick up but they still made me wait 10 minutes for the food.
Went for dim sum; it was really good! Service was a little slow, but the food made up for it.
Good
They charged me 30 bucks for an absolutely disgusting pile of slop and lady was angry and yelled at me. Id rather not eat than deal with that again.
I won t suggest this place to anybody. Stay away! Awful service (the server is very rude). The food is not good at all and it made it worst with a bad server.
Dimsum menu is good. Service is bad. We had to wait 45-50 minutes before our food arrived.
ZERO star!! worst place to dine. their service is the worst. extremely rude cashier/server. Parking: nothing good to say about this restaurant
Came here with a group of friends and it was a terrible dining experience. Wait times are EXTREME as we waited over 2+ hours and only received 2/8 dishes that we ordered and never received the white rice we ordered to eat alongside the dishes. One of the dishes we ordered (salt and pepper beef ribs) also came with 5-7 flat and over fried pieces and then bones underneath with no meat and cost $18-$20 which is ridiculous. The hostess was okay but the server s attitude was horrible - he was extremely unattentive and avoidant and completely disregarded us. We ended up having to just cancel the rest of our order and they were in shock when they realized we barely received any food (there was a lot of miscommunication between checking with the kitchen cooks and checking over our table and it was definitely the server giving our food away to other tables and not checking in on us). Unless you have 3-5 hours to spend waiting around, highly DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE. It was a first and last time for us and tonight, we gave up and went to another restaurant instead. I would give 0 stars if I could TBH.
So bad of an experience it was laughable and disappointing. Male server was rude and inefficient with his role overall. Female server was trying to remedy the situation. Food was mediocre WHEN and IF it showed up. Waited 2 hours to receive 2 dishes during a non-peak time. The table collectively paid what arrived and told the staff to cancel the rest. Proceeded to SEAKING, 8 dishes in and out within 52 minutes of arriving. This restaurant was a good laugh and an unforgettable experience for all the wrong reasons. Would strongly advise NOT going and will tell friends and family to stay away.
Avoid... bad value. Ended up leaving after 2 hours, when only 2/7 dishes came out. The wait staff ignored the table and 2 small dishes they charged 42$... despite knowing they messed up. The soup was pretty tasty, but the rib dish was mostly bones...
I went to have a dinner with some friends and found a treasure restaurant with many delicious dishes, such as boiled beef and maoxuewang. The meal delivery speed is quite fast, and the two waiters are also very good. We are quite satisfied with everything. We will come back next time~
A few of my friends and coworkers has warned me about this place but I really wanted to try it out and see for myself. I honestly wished I listened to them. I regret going to this restaurant. If I could give this place a zero, I honestly would. From the moment I ordered, literally waited so long for dishes to arrive. After an hour wait, finally got soup. Then after 30 mins got one meat dish, I asked the server for rice, he just looked down and walked away. The meat dish was literally all bones under 5 pieces of small salty meat. After a total of 2 and 1/2hours waiting there was literally nothing coming, I didn t want to wait any longer cause my head was hurting from hunger. No matter how many times I tried to wave at the server he always looked away. Some tables we were looking at each other cause they weren t getting their food as well. Maybe he was more accommodating to people who spoke mandarin? So I decided that it would be best to leave. I don t know what we did wrong, we literally patiently waited for the dishes to arrive. We went up to the counter to pay for the soup and meatless dish, the hostess didn t believe us when we mentioned that we got 2/8 dishes, she told the server to double-check. He looked at our table and there was one plate, he nodded then confirmed with the hostess. The hostess questioned him why we didn t get the rest of our food but he just waved at her to go away then walked away rudely without even apologizing. The hostess did apologize but after encountering such a rude server, I don t think I have plans coming back.
Overall food is really good and authentic, sometimes the food comes a little bit raw or overcooked but it happens. The food is pretty solid when you order at a popular time, such as 12pm for lunch and 6pm for dinner.
Pretty good Chinese restaurant
Everything fried tasted like old grease, very bitter . Prob wont order again . Even the fried rice tasted burnt
Last time I went there was couple years ago. During this pandemic I craved for dim sum and finally ordered take out, which came out good as usual except the har gow (shrimp dumpling)coz the wrapper was too thick.
We ordered beef w mixed veggies and there was a big knot of hair. It was disgusting and we lost out appetite. Service was horrible, and the the quality of food was 0/10. Absolutely garbage.
We ordered family meal for dinner and really enjoyed it! There was lots of food leftover, so the portions were very generous. Everything was great but the fried rice was on the dry side. We will order from here again!
We just ordered through skip the dishes, this was by far the worst food we have ever had. The broccoli smelled and tasted horrible, the chicken balls were hard and chicken was very dry, so were the ribs. Very disappointing and a waste of $70.
Ive had take-outs from this restaurant a number of times this year and their beef menus (e.g. curry beef, beef with green onion & ginger, etc.) are the absolute best. As a picky-eater, Im giving 5 stars because of how they exceed my expectations with each order in terms of attention to specific requests, taste, packaging, and portion sizes. Theyve become my favorite Chinese restaurant in Ottawa and I enjoy treating my visitors to their flavorful meals.
Great food and large portions.
Chicken is far too overdone. It was sad because the Shanghai noodles were stellar but their lemon chicken and chicken balls are rock hard. To the point I worried even a metal fork might break. It can be hard to find a solid Chinese restaurant but this one definitely is not it. Another place where you can definitely do better elsewhere and should do so.
