The best place for desserts

10 bucks for an empty nutella crepe with an insulting amount of diluted nutella (nothing just a bit drizzled on top). The crepe itself was white and undercooked. A joke

I don t know how to say this but if you want to try the REAL cacao 70 then go the Lansdowne park location. This was the worst experience ever. The atmosphere is just not there anymore. You can see the big difference when you go to the location in Lansdowne park and here. The food was old and things just looked not clean. Overall, they need to work on their atmosphere and appearance of food.

Great place for dessert or if you are craving something sweet. My go to place for desserts anytime I eat downtown. Everyone I always bring here loves it.

We ate a fresh and delicious poke bowl and a choco nut waffle, the waffle was prepared on site. We feel that the products are fresh and of quality. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

Be careful when ordering takeaway, check before leaving. I ordered a fondue for 2 but received a portion for one person. Before placing the order my husband asked the question of whether it was for 2 they answered yes but to our great surprise... Anarchy!! I paid $22.04 for that

We were close to closing. She still served us with a beautiful smile. I enjoyed this place.

For the atmosphere its simple we were 6 in the room...Knowing that it is a street located in the middle of the Bye Ward Market... Well, I wasnt excited, but too tired to walk anymore, and I didnt want prejudices to take over. So clearly the watermelon drink was undrinkable.... Then the pancake without taste, and not cooked... And little Nutella... The only positive point is the friendliness of the server. If you are looking for a good creperie, go your way, unless you want to lose money. Disaster......

The service was very slow. The crêpes had no flavor and were undercooked. The chicken waffles were tasteless. The avocado wasnt fresh, and the chicken tasted like it was boiled. Aside from the poké bowl, which was decent, the rest was really bad.

After a very long wait, we actually sent back most of the food. The potato wedges weren t cooked, the ham and bacon tasted off, and there was an utter lack of flavour. The fruit & Nutella crepe was completely soggy, and I m fairly certain they use off-brand Nutella. The cappuccino was decent. Never going back.

Best dark hot chocolate I ve had in Ottawa was here, the server is so nice and helpful, I really liked the new item, Poké Bowl, added to the menu. The interior design is so cozy it can get better but I like it the way it is.

Fondue and crepe were cold.

Dropped in yesterday at CaCao 70 unexpectedly but walked out satisfied. I was planning on going to the noodle house not far from this eatery, but I am glad that I came in here with a far greater variety of items to choose from. I was not too hungry, so I just ordered a Poke Bowl, a delicious combination of Soy cooked juicy pork, homemade marinated tofu and freshly stir fried bok choy on top of a bed of delicious white rice. The service is excellent and the ambience relaxing. I heard that the owner has already drawn a plan to make this place beautiful, compliment its constantly improved food and service. I could not wait to go back to try other entries!

I used to be a big fan of this location. But it recently changed : the menu was reduced a lot (and I was offered a Poké menu too? I love Poké, but maybe Cacao70 is not the place for raw fish). The space was also cut by a wall. What I ordered was OK, the presentation was... Artistic! Service was good! But, I do not think I will return. Thank you for the memories!

Love the classic hot chocolate and salmon sushi poke bowl!

The interior is definitely not what it used to be, but the chocolate fondue was good, and well priced. The servers were very kind.

Great Drinks Best Sweets Love the taste

Not what I would normally expect from a Cacao 70. If you ve been to the one in Lansdowne this is comparatively quite disappointing. There is no decor or upscale feel, it s a very bare, crowded dining area with plain wood chairs and tables. Service was quite poor, no one checked in on us at any time and we had to flag down the server ourselves each time we wanted something. We waited over 20 minutes for our coffees and when mine arrived there was lipstick all over the mug. I sent it back and then had to wait about 10 minutes more for a new one. Food was just ok and did not make up for the otherwise poor experience. Overall, skip it and go to the Lansdowne location if you re craving Cacao 70!

The server was great, very kind, and this is the only place where they serve water without being asked. Regarding the Choco-nut waffle, I wouldnt recommend adding whipped cream as it might make the waffle soggy. Ive always preferred crunchy waffles. Ill try something else next time. The staff is good.

Absolutely awful! Cacao70 used to be my goto restaurant for desserts. With a broken heart I have to say that this place is no longer what it once was. There s been a change in ownership couple of years ago and since then the food quality has deteriorated drastically. The menu on the website does not match the menu provided at the restaurants. The food quality is very mediocre. My waffle was served cold and soggy.

Fondue with strawberry, brownie and waffle is really good. Ask them for more strawberries if you like.

Too small to sit down and enjoy, also had terrible service. Not once did they check to see if i was happy with the food, the waitress served us with her winter jacket on and someone bringing in stock smashed our table and chairs with a wagon full of product...not even an excuse me, apology or any warning. i had the worst brunch in terms of food i dont even want to recite how it was, ill just say stay away. Not sure how this place stays open. Im assuming it gets nothing but tourists and 1 time customers. Probably barely staying afloat and id wager the only reason its still around is because of unassuming tourists. How horrible for people visiting from abroad.

It s really bad. It used to be delicious but was bought by other owners. The food was not tasty and not fresh. I do not recommend anyone to go. There waffle is not hot and we had to ask to add fruits on top.

The food was mid, the waiters were nice but hard to understand and communicate with, and the food was barely warm which made it uncomfortable to eat. It didn t taste fresh. The food looked tasty but when we started taking the food apart, you could tell the crepes weren t cooked all the way through and tasted bland with no flavour. They also charged very unreasonably, $60 for 4 small portions of food and the only plus points were that the place wasn t a total mess, they took our order and got our food quickly, and it wasn t *I wanna puke* bad. I suggest don t come here if you want a good experience with value and fresh food which is catered to you. 4/10

It must have been cool at one time, but I dont see the point in going there these days. The hot chocolate was good, but the latte was terrible. The cheesecake looked like it came from a supermarket frozen box. They were out of tiramisu.

Looks like the place has new owners. The decor looks kind of sloppy now, and the waiter forgot our drink order and still tried to charge us for it.

If I could give less than 1 star I would - the server was exceptionally unpleasant. She was rude about my allergy. One meal never showed up and we ended up cancelling the order. The food was nearly inedible between the Costco precooked chicken and raw egg. Dietary restrictions: I have a life threatening allergy and she told me to look at the menu to see if it says my allergen.

Seems run down, food was good, service was good, until there was a problem with a drink, which is when service fell apart. Did not appreciate being call a bad customer when we brought to their attention that the milk chocolate shake had no chocolate in it. Zero offer to remake the drink correctly, they only insisted we pay for an essentially untouched awful drink. Very rude, awful customer service.

Upon walking into the establishment there was one table in use by diners, while 3 vacant tables had dirty dishes on them, with no one making an effort to clear them, the waiting staff were simply on their phone when we walked in. The place looks like it had seen better days, it looked run down, the decor unflattering, and there was no ambient music playing. I had a single milk chocolate fondue to eat. The fruits were good and seemed fresh. The chocolate in my fondue solidified before I had the chance to dip all my food into it. I feel like there was supposed to be a tealight candle under the chocolate bowl to prevent this, but there wasnt. To drink I had a milk chocolate shake. The drink was less than pleasant. It tasted like frothed milk with not even a hint of chocolate. I had one sip and that was enough. When this was brought up to the waiter the owner was flagged over, there was no apology, no attempt to recreate the drink, and a refusal to remove the shake from the bill after I kindly asked them to, as I didnt like the shake, didnt drink it, and there was no attempt made by the establishment to correct the situation. I will not be coming back to this location, nor recommending it to others.

Nice little and cozy cafe in Byward market. Their chocolate latte and cheesecake was amazing.

Late night breakfast/desert spot. Lots of seating, lovely staff, and wide rage of options on the menue. Larger plates and smaller snacks are available, with some options even including a personal grill for marshmallows. No liquor license.

Food was veeery good! The waiting time, toooo long. However, we thought it was worth it.

Nice dessert but weird atmosphere. The place has changed a lot since it has new owner. It is smaller and not as pretty and before. I believe the menu hAs less options but the dessert actually taste yummy. The coffee is just ok. There are not much options in downtown Ottawa so you can check it out if you are near Byward market.

We were three people splitting the sharing platter for two or more people . It was not for MORE people, it was barely for 2 people. Not worth $40. The servers were friendly but looked very confused, did not come to check on us, and we had to keep seeking them out for information. We waited AN HOUR for not-fresh food. Would not recommend.

Gave this place one last try as I had a horrible experience in the summer. Not only did it take 20min to take our order we left after 45min of having given our order. Come On .this place just can t get it together!!! Dirty Tables not cleared and we were the 1 of two tables there the entire hour!!! No chance will I return if they don t care then I don t either.

Sooo good. We ordered the black and white waffles and were OBSESSED with how good it was!

Service was pretty decent, the food came quickly and was delicious. However the place itself is much smaller than it use to be, and doesnt feel as cozy anymore. It felt a little run down, which is unfortunate. Much better than the one in the Glebe though.

Exquisite hot chocolate!

Overpriced, overrated, underwhelming. We ordered the Lazy Breakfast (spoiler, it was), the Croque Madame, and a banana split. The potatoes that came with the Lazy Breakfast had clearly been under a heat lamp so long that piercing them with a fork was a struggle. The toast was a single slice of warmed, slightly crispy bread with panini press grill marks, cut in two. The eggs, bacon and ham were okay, taste wise, (as was the single spoonful of beans I found tucked under some ham), but the overall portion of the plate was *not* worth $17. What a joke. The Croque Madame consisted of two pieces of untoasted bread with a barely perceptible layer of cheese in between, topped with a warmed over ham steak and a fried egg on top. It was advertised to come with Maple syrup but we had to ask for it. The side salad was a meagre portion of wilted spring mix, two cucumbers that had clearly been frozen solid and then thawed (we thought they were pickle slices at first ), topped with two full slices of tomato, with ranch dressing poured in a pile on top. For $16? Why even have this on the menu? The banana split was served in a Sundae glass (for some reason), and the bananas were raw, not caramelized, despite the menu listing. The chocolate cereal topping consisted of approximately 5 cocoa pebbles. Considering this place is supposed to have a reputation for their desserts, it was pretty sad and nothing special. The milk chocolate mochas were okay, but for ~$6 each, youre better off going to Starbucks.

Good food but slow service.

Very weird new decor? Used to love this place (like five years ago) but since it is half size, the cozy vibe is GONE. The night I went, no music played, it was bright as a hospital room, and it took a long time to get our drinks. They were okay and decently priced. But the atmosphere was dreadful. Loud, bright, and cramped. Not at all the cozy date spot it used to be. I wouldnt recommend anymore :(

I ordered the milk chocolate milkshake and the iced mint chocolate milkshake- both of these were insipid and flavourless ie. did not taste like chocolate. Waited over an hour for our food order and the waffle was pretty subpar. The service was kind though, but did not redeem the quality

Horrible service, asian waiter guy on sunday could care less he s on his phone; not taking orders 2 people went to order themselves; multiple tables not cleared. This is on a sunday , if this place was busy it would be a mess .. no wonder it s empty. hats off to chef the food is great; wondering if i should bring my dishes up edit: i brought our dishes up bc waiter was on his phone picking his nose in an empty restaurant

Very pleasant dessert experience! I came here for dessert and tea and initially ordered Chai tea, however since I had mentioned I didn t want caffeine that late in the evening, the server came back to our table upon his realization, and offered me Chamomile instead. I love when a place makes such a effort and it deserves to be recognized!

Very bad experience... I dont recommend it to anyone... bad chewy waffle, small portion, we ordered waffle with caramelized banana, they gave us normal banana, and after we asked them, they told us we dont serve that, yet it was on the menu, they said they cant change the menu, they shouldve at least told us before ordering. We also ordered double fondue, we asked about the double, and the waitress said you get double of everything, but we only got double fondue and fruits but no double brownie nor waffle.

I do NOT recommend. I was incredibly disappointed. As a chocolate lover, I was drawn in by the signs and menu posted outside the restaurant. I wanted a cool chocolate to satisfy my thirst and hunger. I ordered the Iced Strawberry Chocolate Milkshake and after paying over $7, I get a very pink milkshake so I ask if there s chocolate in it. The guy tells me that he forgot to add it, so I have to give it back, instead of him offering. (Another issue is that I am fairly certain he retrieved the open bag of milk for the shake from the counter vs fridge.) Then he goes to talk to the (I assume) owner and then the man serving me just pours white chocolate sauce over the whipped cream on top of the shake. I ask again if there s chocolate in it and explains what he just did. I was so frustrated and confused and almost felt like somehow it was my fault for not verifying how the milkshake should be made before I ordered and paid So I took the milkshake and left and drank as I walked to my next destination. Halfway through drinking a mediocre strawberry shake, I feel a hair on my tongue. So I wiped my tongue on my napkin and threw out the rest. I really wished I had bought gelato from around the corner. Is there such a thing as a bad chocolate place? Not in my experience! We decided to indulge ourselves at this spot and ordered the fondue for two with milk chocolate and earl grey. The dish came with a generous assortment of fruits, a brownie, and a waffle. While the chocolate pots were not filled to the brim, there was still an ample amount. The chocolates were delicious, and everything was prepared with care. The prices were reasonable too. Our friends tried the larger plates, which allowed them to cook marshmallows over an open flame an exciting experience. Another friend opted for the volcano brownie. The items were similar but creatively presented. If youre in the neighborhood, this is a great dessert place to satisfy your sweet tooth.

No one care you as soon as you walk in. We even go to the cashier to hope someone can offer a table/ menu. There was only two table occupied. Chairs are so broken old, it doesnt feel safe to sit on. Never again. Food isnt really worth the price tag. Drink made out of fake powder. Not a real fruit.

First time back in a long time. Not at all what it use to be. Tiny portions. Very cheapily made. What we got isnt at all what we ordered. Got a half filled cup of coffee. Very dissapointed. Needless to say i wont be back. Too bad.

Nothing really special, I ordered a shake and the peanut butter fondue. The shake just tastes like normal store bought ice cream turned into a shake, and the peanut butter fondue was a little bitter which is okay but I was just expecting more of a milk chocolate though it tasted like regular Kraft peanut butter was mixed into it. Its not bad overall, but not great. They played Kens song from Barbie, so the music choice and atmosphere were nice.

I took my cousin for a treat, we ordered the volcano brownie with ice cream, I was expecting the brownie to be hot so it could clash with the ice cream, but it wasnt, as well we ordered the crepe with banana and strawberries, it was good, but was surprised about the volcano brownie..

This place is nothing similar to the lansdowne location. They are closed on mondays so we decided to try this one. Serve was very kind but the atmosphere is bizarre, feels very mom & pop shop and not the cool modern vibes of other locations. No music. Small portions. Will not return.

The menu isn t super clear and it s a bit expensive for the portion size but the food is good. I would like to see the option to order sides and not just mains, but it was overall good.

Un attrape touristes avec des proprios qui ne se soucient clairement pas de la qualité de ce qu ils servent. Les employés avaient aussi un stand de faux bijoux sur le côté du resto. Horrid pancakes the worst I had in my life

Small spot with wide variety of brunch options. We ordered frittata, waffles and English breakfast with hot cocoa. Everything was hot and delicious.

Literally my worst experience at a dessert restaurant. I went with my partner and 2 friends. Ill sum up the highlights: 1. I ordered the fondue and was VERY explicit that I was allergic to bananas and I asked to not have any bananas with the dish. When the dish arrived - of course, there were bananas with it. I reminded the server I was allergic and they seemed to have no idea what an allergy was. They finally took it away and came back about 10 minutes later with apples, instead of bananas, in the fresh fruit tray. 2. My partner ordered the Smores speciality milkshake which listed that it came with chocolate cereal, brownie BITES, and GRILLED marshmallows. When it arrived, it was a melted chocolate soup with no chocolate cereal, one single brownie bite, and the marshmallows werent grilled or roasted at all. My partner called the server over and she said that they were out of chocolate cereal (which would have been nice to know before we ordered it...). He also pointed out there was only one single tiny brownie when the menu says brownie bites (plural!), and that the marshmallows were completely raw and just soggy floating in the melted chocolate milk soup, and she just kept repeating I dont work in the kitchen. I cant do anything about it. I cant do anything. She eventually went and talked to the manager and said the most she could do was 25% off the dish. 3. We asked for our bills and the server came back and handed a single bill with all the orders to me (again... we asked for separate bills). So I asked if we could please have separate bills, and the server seemed really annoyed and brought out 2 separate bills but then still had my order on my friends bill. He ended up just paying it because we didnt want to ask her to fix another mistake. 4. My partner asked if he could talk to the manager and the server said no. She said the manager was too busy making the next order. (It was NOT a busy night... it was Monday at 8:45pm... there were maybe two other tables there...) My partner insisted and the manager finally came out to talk to him. The manager kept saying that bananas were cheaper than strawberries and so she was doing us a favour with the fondue (.... 1) we werent complaining about the fondue, and 2) they gave us extra apples, not strawberries, so her point was moot anyway). Not only that, she then said that she touches everything after she touches the bananas anyway and admitted that everything was cross-contaminated. THAT I already knew in the moment because I could feel my throat and tongue tingling. BE WARNED IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY: THEY WILL NOT BE UPFRONT ABOUT CROSS CONTAMINATION. I am lucky because I didnt DIRECTLY eat the bananas so I didnt have a full on reaction but it could have been MUCH worse for someone else. 5. The manager then went on to say that she purposefully doesnt grill the marshmallows because it takes too much time and how am I supposed to put hot marshmallows on cold ice cream? (How is that our problem?! Take it off the menu if you dont want to make it how youve advertised!) She REFUSED to refund him and finally ended up just giving us a 5 dollar bill to get us to leave. We will never be returning and would advise people, especially people with allergies, to stay away. I dont relish leaving a bad review but I am absolutely shocked by what happened tonight.

Great place for hoto coco in cold days. Expect some poor service. You might have to go to counter to submit your order and then to pay for it, despite being a dine place.

FANTASTIC dessert place. At the top of my list for places to get dessert not just in Ottawa, but across Ontario. We ve been multiple times and the milk chocolate fondue with the waffles, brownie, and fruit bites is always amazing. Service was a little overwhelmed by the number of customers but was very friendly.

bathrooms are disgusting none of the toilets work, menu is lacking and inside is extremely run down

Not like what it used to be whatsoever. I have fond memories of coming to cacao 70 5-6 years ago. It was wonderful food was fresh, yummy and delicious. It was a large restaurant and always full of people. It s now under new ownership and has significantly gone downhill. The reasturent is now half the size. No more cute decorations or decor around the cafe. The server was not knowledgeable about stuff on the menu. We were charged extra for maple syrup even though the dish we ordered came with it?? Server was also talking on her phone the whole time. Our dirty plates were never taken off the table and just left there. Menu online is noticeably different than what they have in restaurant. I d suggest calling first if you have allergies. Would definitely NOT recommend and would NOT go back to this location. Go to Landsdowne location for a worthwhile experience.

Everything was beautifully made and delicious. The drinks, savory and the dessert section. And waiters were very nice. The location, needs a deep and urgent renovations. The time we went, it was the Saturday night and there was a big rusted fridge on your way to the bathrooms !! They should have taken care of it before the opening.

Worst service nd totally fraud business. I dont know if they changed ownera but it used to be one of the best places in Ottawa for desserts and now they serve groccery frozen cheesecakes with rotten fruits. 2 staff for the entire evening , zero for service quality and zero for food quality. The cheese cake wasnt even a full slice (less the tan half the quantity it used to be). Real shame to have such an amazing spot reduce to this.

I went to dine in as a small group. The dark chocolate mocha and the sesame hot chocolate were both delicious. We also had some nut covered churros which was pretty good. The americano was just okay, but it s more of a chocolate store than a cafe so I didn t mind. It was mostly there to balance out the sweetness. Since it was Boxing Day, it was a bit crowded, though they did separate out the tables to have some amount of social distancing. It seemed like there was only one employee who was tending to the entire cafe, making all the drinks, taking orders, serving, checking vaccine cards, and seating people. Everything took a while, which was completely understandable, and we weren t in a rush. I hope they normally have more employees though since I felt really bad for him.

Stepped in on 31st evening to pick up a hot chocolate to go. Thought that it would be a quick pick and go - but was in for a surprise. Even though there were no customers waiting, it took close to 20 minutes to just get the hot chocolate - which was basically pouring out the hot chocolate that was already prepared and adding some cream. While there were a few tables occupied and three staff behind the counter, they did not look busy. The hot chocolate was tasty but I don t think that the small helping was worth the long wait and the $12 + tag.

Good deserts, but lacking in service. The cheesecake is a must have. one of the best Ive ever had. The crêpes could be better and were cold. the decor and seating need some uplift to improve the ambiance.

The server was not helpful at all. They took 15 mins to give us the menu, I would have understood the delay if they were packed but it wasn t the case. When the food arrived, it seems it was not fresh and when we complaint the server said that s how it s supposed to be. The crepe was really hard and the cream given to us for the coffee and tea were expired as we could see curds in our cups when we poured it. The server again made a lame excuse of how it s normal during cold weather. When we shared our dissatisfaction about the whole experience, she didn t even care to apologize. Oh yeah, we had to pay for everything in full and left everything at the table without even eating it.

I have been to this location numerous times. I love the eclectic feel inside. It is usually always busy. I agree with others that it tends to be pricey but on another note that price tends to stack up with the cost of restaurants in this part of the city. The food has always been exceptional quality and presentation. I highly recommend if you need a chocolate fix head here.

Their sweets are amazing! I had the strawberry cheesecake crepe, fire up the veggies crepe, and the matcha chocolate fondue. The cheesecake crepe was 10/10, the fondue was also amazing but for the amount of things they give you to dip there isnt enough fondue 8/10. Last, the fire up the veggies crepe was simply okay. We wait too much for a latte and a Mocha. The mocha was cold, the latte was almost hot water. The place wasn t clean and it was messy in general.

Food was nice and the restaurant is cute but it was very very slow. Please consider hiring more staff, one server for a busy weekend is just not enough.

Used to be great sad to say its understaffed also doesnt seem like they are well trained . I got 2 types of doughnuts they both were EXTREMELY stale and they look the exact same and taste the exact same which was stale. I expected more but since Ive been here so many times pre pandemic but its safe to say it did not stand the test of time

I ordered food and a drink and was given it all in take-out stuff, even in a bag and everything. It was served to me at the table that way, while other customers were served with real dishes. I ate it at the table, struggling with flimsy plastic cutlery. The waiter person even came up to me asking how the food is and stuff. Acknowledging that Im eating in and not maybe offering real culterly at the very least made me feel like I was a rat. Yeah, I was wearing baggy, full coverage clothes, Im sure if I had my chest out Id get treated like an actual customer. The Nutella crepe doesnt have Nutella in it. Its just the faint chocolate drizzle they put on top, theres nothing inside the crepe, its completely dry and such a waste. The only good thing was the hot chocolate tasted good. Amazing how this is my second experience and it was also bad. The first time I ordered from here was through Uber Eats and my entire order was drenched in milkshake. Not going back.

Sooooo over rated! The waffle for $14 is just a stale waffle with whip cream and 3 strawberries cut up with a bit of chocolate. I ve given this spot a lot of chances and tried different things like the crepes, which I ll say is okay but nothing outstanding. I d give it a 2 star but the milk hot chocolate was actually pretty good.

We enjoyed breakfast here and our daughters really enjoyed the food. If you enjoy sweets and chocolate, you must try this at least once!

My 1st experience here yesterday evening wasn t what i expected and very disappointed for sure. The place was so hot inside that we asked to get our desserts to go. They were understaffed, the inside was filthy, the tables were sticky even after our table was wiped down. The menus were dirty and when we were served water it was warm. The desserts we had were a strawberry cheesecake crepe and a banana split. The crepe was not even average but below average. The sauces were watery and tasteless. The crepe was so thin it didn t hold anything. The banana split was in a cup and it was so dull and it looked like they were skimping on every aspect of the ingredients. I wanted this to be a great snd tasty experience as it was our last dessert experience before heading back to Toronto in the morning. My advice close the doors if you can t provide a decent product (s). The health department should have a visit here as behind the counter everything was a mess and most likely warm to touch (dairy products). Such a shame!!!

Always a pleasure to go to Cacao 70 for some quick dessert. They give good portions of whipped cream and ice cream. Solid dessert spot

Fast service despite being two employees

I only ordered the Iced Mint Chocolate Shake on a hot summer afternoon. It was delicious, not too sweet and very filling. Prices are decent. Servers are friendly and attentive. The place needs a bit of care though (tables and chairs are not in great condition, and the counter area looks a bit messy).

The food was bland. The chocolate pizza had very few chocolate which is funny for a cacao place. The prices are very high which is a not a problem when the quality is there. But this is not the case here. And Im not even talking about the service and the wait. Ill never go back again.

Very slow service. Nutella crepe had barely any Nutella on it and the strawberry are frozen, not fresh. Would not recommend.

First time here and it was amazing weather so wanted to try their speciality coffee drink with milk chocolate . Tasted amazing as we sat outside on chairs not the cafe itself . Didnt had to wait too long , location is amazing

The food is delicious and the place is nice and cozy, they need another server as one is not enough when it get busy, he is nice and friendly but need some help, great location and menu, highly recommended and definitely will visit this place again and enjoy the food :)

Poor customer service. I asked for a decaf and the server asked what kind of decaf I wanted. I told him I wanted a cup of decaf coffee and he got frustrated and asked if I wanted a decaf americano or decaf cappuccino. I clarified that I wanted a drip decaf and he gave me a sigh and still couldnt understand so I just ordered a decaf americano. Unexpectedly unpleasant experience for a simple cup of decaf!

Ive being in other Cacao 70 and this one does not have the same standard. The place is not as nice as others and the service is too slow. We arrived in a group of 7 and the waiter said that table with more than 6 people should mandatorily pay 15% tip, we were not amazed and split in 2 tables. It took a while to receive the menu, we ordered and had to wait almost 1 hour to receive the dishes, and its not that the place was full! The excuse was that they only had one crepe machine and we ordered 3 crepes, should weve known beforehand, we could had ordered something different. And to make matters worse the whites of my egg was partially raw, yuck! The service was too slow, the food was bad and because of the huge delay we lost our spot to visit the parliament, that was so disappointing.

Not impressed poor service, cafe not the cleanest and food was disappointing. Wish we had gone elsewhere.

What the hell happened to this place. I did not mind paying 6$ for a hot chocolate because the atmosphere was great but now its half the size with the same amount of table. They do not have any fancy displays and the cheaply made menu makes you feel like they dont care about their product. 20min wait to order and there was 5 other groups waiting after us. Stuffy location and the prep area was messy and disorganized. Staff had no uniform and wore what my grandfather wears around the yard. GO TO THE LANSDOWNE LOCATION FOR THE PROPER EXPERIENCE!

Today I went to cacao 70 with some friends, we wanted to take a coffee to go. We waited approximately 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged (no one else was in front of us). Once we ordered coffee we were told it would be a few minutes. After waiting 15 minutes I went up to ask how much longer it would be, the waitress said 5 minutes. Yet she told us a few minutes over 15 minutes ago! As we waited and waited there was another customer who came in, they placed their order and some how got their drinks before us. At the same time a friend of one of the workers came in, ordered and got their item before us ( at this point we ve been waited for approximately 25 minutes). I ve never had to wait this long for a take out coffee, let alone being told they are busy yet people who came there after us were getting their items. To see one of the co workers friends get special treatment when they are so busy and haven t even started our drinks unreal .We asked for a refund and they didn t even apologize or acknowledge everything that had happened. I d also like to add the kitchen was so messy and dishes everywhere, they were working with dirty dishes all around, appeared very unsanitary!!

I enjoyed the many unique menu offerings and the food was pretty good. The staff were all friendly and professional. But the atmosphere was awful: so noisy that conversation was difficult, hot like a sauna, and brunch service was so slow - we waited over an hour for our order.

Very good and affordable

Busy spot on a Thursday night, and we had to wait a while for a table for 3 to free up, but we didnt mind. We were greeted by Rocky, who was very friendly and provided excellent service in spite of being very busy. Our desserts were absolutely mouth-watering, though pricy. The space was noisy and could probably benefit from sound-absorbing panels or similar. We would definitely return to Cacao 70 for a treat!

Fondue was excellent. Smoothie was great too. Crepe made with a Kraft single? Not great. Waffle maker broken, stuffy inside but all windows were closed. We ve enjoyed other locations so maybe this was just an off day.

Quality of the food is just ok, though for those who are looking for a cute, sugary shares plates there are some great options. However, I do wish Cacao 70, generally, had some smaller options for those who dont want to walk out there having eaten a HUGE dessert Major thing this place needs is an upgrade in ambiance. The tables feel too open and does not given enough of a cozy feel which youd want in a cafe like this one. Also, the space around the counter is disorganized- covered in boxes, flatware, etc that as someone whos worked in a restaurant, you dont want your customers to be looking at.

Should have looked at the reviews before ordering. Hot chocolate does taste like water and maybe it was a busy night but I dont think anything excuses finding a spider next to the fruits in the Styrofoam box. I wont order if I were anyone else. Maybe it was a bad experience....

Agree with others who say this place has gone downhill. Ordered delivery and it took forever to prepare the food - the driver was waiting quite a while. Both my items were missing half the toppings theyre supposed to come with. The waffle was cold and soggy, but Im willing to overlook that since maybe they dont travel well. I wont be going back or ordering from here again. Too bad, because it used to be really good.
