Best poutine Place in Ottawa.

I ordered myself the perogy poutine and it only had 2 perogies in my poutine. Last year or 2 years ago when I was in the city and ordered the same poutine there was at least 4 perogies. Good poutine, but disappointed this time.

I don t know how Smokes is still in business. They have, without doubt, the worst poutine I have ever had. I gave them a second chance yesterday and it was the same level of sadness in a bowl as it was when I first tried it years ago.

Went there with my friends. Delicious poutines with toppings loaded up. Staff is very friendly and explain the menu items if you are not aware what to order. Overall had a great experience.

The place is absolutely amazing but I found out something VERY disturbing about the new owners when I went in a few weeks ago. When you put tips through the system, The workers used to get them. Now with the new owners, the people who work their barely ever get the tips that you leave through the system. IF you want the workers (who do the work and give you the food) to get the tips, I suggest you bring cash and leave it to them as those go directly to the workers at the end of the shift/night... This is SOOOOOOO unfair of the new owners to do that to the workers.

Unmelted curds is a sin. I dont care about your mantra of theyre not supposed to melt. All the best poutines Ive eaten had melted curds.

Great food!! Best place for poutine in Ottawa. Staff members were friendly too. Last weekend I visited there with my wife and had two large poutines, their food quality was excellent and quantity was good too. Taste was amazing. Everyone should visit at least once to this shop. Highly recommended!!

Worst experience I ve ever had. Out of order washroom sign has been there for a year & she said someone just broke everything in there and mumbled some other things. You can just say its employees only and not lie to your customers that are giving you business. Second we got our order, while we were driving we had 1 bite each and was so salty that I had to turn around to get it remade or refunded. It was so bad that we couldn t even swallow it. When I got there I politely told the lady that we both found it was way too salty and if they could remake, give us a different one or refund. The girl had the audacity to say I m making up excuses and that the poutine is fine? Sorry are you the one eating or are we? She was very rude, said that I m lying and that everyone thinks it s fine and it s only us. That s not how you deal with situations like this. Why you arguing with your customers and accusing them of lying? you think I m benefiting anything from complaining there was only 2 bites taken out, Im just tryna have an enjoyable poutine. She argued and raised her voice over a poutine that cost them 2 bucks to make. She said she not doing anything bout it and will only give me dry fries back worst customer service, this girl is MISERABLE you can see it in her eyes. These people don t know how to manage a business they d rather fight you over 1 poutine than make a customer happy

Smallest poutine I ve ever seen. I feel like I got ripped off $17.50 for this is ridiculous.

One of the best poutine in town

I had my one time (I believe to be the last one) visit there when I travelled to Ottawa. I loved to eat Poutine, which was why I found this so called specialty Poutine Store... I did a take-out indeed so I did not intend to pay tip, but I can see the server was not happy. To my surprise, the two poutine styles I ordered were given all the leftover fries such as scraps. I assume that the server likely save the good quality part of fries to the other guests eating inside or whoever offers tips. In the end, it was the worst poutine I have ever had at this Smokes Poutinerie Ottawa though I went there for something special, but ended up with regret. I would never go there again. Friendly reminder: to get better quality fries there, remember to give tip upfront. It is a must to do thing there.

ordered just fries today, they put absolutely no salt on the fries at all, just bland fried potatoes.. I watched the cook every step through the window... Ive cooked for decades, and you always season the fries even if they potentially get gravy,, it just created an over all better dish when you salt things seperately ! They were cooked fresh, but I want tossed in a good salt, is that to hard to ask from a World Famous poutine place?

Excellent late-night eats! I had the butter cauliflower poutine, and it could not have been better! Plenty of fried cauliflower, and enough sauce that every fry was coated!

We were in the mood for poutine while traveling and this place is a chain, but was super close. Everything was just . good. Not exceptional or a draw to go back again, but not disappointed either. Food was hot and fresh, but just lacked any wow factor. Small is enough for 1 for sure and no need for extra curds like we did bc it s loaded! That was a plus.

Yesterday I tried poutine in here. Ordered traditional and chicken bacon ranch. Both of them were delicious! Fries were soft, and tasty.

Food was good , service is a bit slow. They give preference to online order even if you ordered before and inside shop.

I m not the type of person to write reviews and I m not hating on the specific location but I m warning everyone who wants to try it that is not worth it way overpriced for the flavourless gravy as well

The food was pretty okay but the employees were a bit rude no matter what language you speak you shouldn t make fun of your order only making 16 dollars an hour before taxes. Good looking place tho.

Never coming back. I ordered a nacho poutine. The salsa and the avocados were completely sour. I asked the staff if they could help me out and they told me that its impossible and that I dont know how avocado and salsa actually taste like (IM MEXICAN of course I know).

If you want to experience traditional Canadian culture, enter this store, rock music, country style, the chaos of homeless people and hippies smoking pot at the door, big chunks of cheese and chips, warm meat sauce, plus Some flavorful sauces and proteins, preferably a Tims double double on the side, and youll feel the unique flavor of Canada. Dont save the poutine until the next day because they will harden after being heated in the microwave. If you have a small appetite, a small portion of poutine is recommended. You wont want to try poutine taken out of the microwave, trust me.

The two ladies are very kind and respectful. They encourage anyone to work hard in life.

I visited Ottawa for some personal reason and went to smokes poutine for first time and tried chefs special Veggie rainbow & buffalo cauli ranch which was very delicious poutine & service which I liked most all over. Thanks

Got the butter chicken poutine based on google reviews. This is not butter chicken anything. Would not recommend this specific dish. You will be disappointed with the flavor. Food came hot, which was nice. Location in Ottawa is next to a cannabis dispensary. Staff are clearly regular clients as the skunk was alive and well and is living in the back of the restaurant, and visits the front when orders are being taken. Staff were otherwise fine. No complaints for my part, other than the smell. Thought one wonders about the sanitary condition when the smell of sticky bush is living on those running the place. Still, my transaction was quick and easy. Restaurant entrance itself is sketchy. I thought its sketchiness added a bit to its uniqueness, until I realized it s a bloody franchise, at which point I thought, wow the bar is low.

Bad service and lack of appreciation for customers. The tall girl who works in the restaurant treated me meanly for no reason. I don t know if she was having a bad day or what, but I did not deserve to be treated that way. She acted like I was bout to steal the order for no reason except racism .. Bad experience.

I like spicy and I was suggested by staff to have chicken inferno. It was mid spicy and jalapeños on the top made it perfect. Thanks to the staff for their suggestion. Now you have customer for life.

It was just ok, lots of fries for not enough toppings though and the gravy was kind of watery, not enough cheese. Very small portions and VERY expensive. Nice people though.

I heard very great things about Smoke s and finally decided to grab some. Their poutine is mediocre and overpriced. You can spend 15$ here for a tiny regular poutine portion, or get double the size and better taste elsewhere for around the same price. Smoke s Poutinerie is overhyped. Boneless wings are the same story. You get 4 tiny nuggets, no sauce or gravy included, and they aren t evenly fried. My friend liked their large pulled pork poutine with bacon.

Great business and food! Good for late night snack or even day time indulgence. I had the traditional but I d also like to try one of the many creative takes on poutine like the butter chicken. Will be back.

Ive been to Smokes on multiple occasions and have never been disappointed. Vegetarian options: They have vegan and vegetarian options, so that was a major win.

Portion seemed a bit small for the price. Didnt seem like enough gravy. The gravy tasted like rosemary, which isnt inherently bad but not what I wanted in a poutine. The bacon was decent but I couldnt really taste the pulled pork in it. Overall I would say its just okay.

Id give you a good page of review but if youre from Ottawa you already know how delicious the food is, youd also know the staff are friendly and store is very clean.

Unprofessional staff, just you can here is screaming and loud songs from back... and inappropriate bad words. Food is best.

I visited Smoke poutinerie in Ottawa for the first time with my friends. We had amazing time there, the food was delicious overall, but I loved the buffalo cauli-ranch poutine with extra cheese. We ordered couple of poutines, those were recommended by the staff and they were fresh, fries were properly cooked. I recommend everyone, to atleast visit this place for once.

I came here when i was very young & knew that is was in my top 3 best poutines Ive ever had. I havent been here in over 10 years, yet somehow it is even better & is definitely still in the top 3, if not the winner for the top spot. The people here are very nice, polite, respectful & make there food with much love. I infinitely recommend coming here & will also be coming back whenever Im around. Id come here after eating a 5 course meal , very much humor intended. But seriously COME & TRY SMOKES POUTINE 407 dalhousie!

Can t begin to explain how happy I am with this place! This is one of my favorite restaurants. Delicious poutine served by hardworking girls Aman and Anjali. Great service and the poutine was awesome. You can get good food and drink anywhere. What really made our experience special was Aman and her attention to making our time there memorable. I will be back again.

To be completely honest, the middle-of-the-night Smoke s Poutinerie experience has changed with their presence, for the better. They are truly a weekend staple in Ottawa. Always cheerful, delicious, and speedy - nothing else you could really ask for.

They make solid poutines! And sell banging perogies. What more could you ask for?

Chicken Bacon Ranch is my favorite, but I got to say that all the other that I have tried si far are so tasty. I cant believe that I started eating these poutines only this year. I will highly recommend anybody that are in the corner of Rideau st to go to Dalhousie street and by the best poutine in town. The folks there are so friendly as well.

Tried this place for some late night dinner after Canada Day celebrations. Its just terrible, the food is bland, the fries in the poutine were undercooked with raw potato peels in it, the cheese was bad and the onion rings were too oily.

We got the traditional poutine and pulled pork poutine and they were both delicious. The quantity was good for the price. This place make great comfort food. The service was friendly and we received the food fairly fast. The restaurant was stuffy and hot. It was a humid day and I dont think the AC was working properly so we ordered take out instead.

Got a regular poutine, it was very small and over priced. Not stroller access to get up the main cafe so we could enjoy our million dollar poutine. Asked for two cups of water and was refused after buying this regular poutine. Staff is always rude I finde here. Last time I got a vegetarian poutine they laughed over it and made it an awkward experience. Idk if they are told to be the rudest as possible when Highered I went there when I was 16 thinking 10 years later couldnt be too bad but it is.

It was a nice hole in the wall, I liked the setting of the place. We ordered a traditional poutine and it was not bad. But, the poutine was over-priced even for a medium poutine. The fries were fresh and crispy, the gravy was average, tastes like any other gravy you would get at a poutinerie, and the cheese curds didnt taste that good. You could tell that it was not fresh, nor melted. Overall its overpriced and average poutine, I would save my money and go buy a poutine from a food truck where you would pay way less, but get double the size.

Horrible! Me and a friend of mine went there last night. Once we entered the building, we noticed lots of great reviews on paper on the wall. The advertisement was so heavy that we bought into the idea that here is the best place for poutine in Ottawa! So we ordered a large size poutine with so-called steak . As you see in the picture, the decorations on top looks interesting; however, the quality was horrible! ->The worst poutine I have ever had in Canada in the last decade of my life here. I stopped eating and threw it in the garbage! My friend continued eating a bit more and today she s sick and food poisoned . More details: the potatoes were not fresh. The volume of gravy was too much that the food was turned into a soup of dark gravy with low quality potatoes.. very small amount of steak and instead tons of onions & red peppers . I will remember to avoid coming here FOREVER!

I was visiting Canada and in some videos I saw that this food was good and really like Mexicans, the food from abroad will always suit us, it is somewhat seasoned and yet it is nothing extraordinary, to try it just once it is fine, there was a group of boys making some type of reverence to their religion, apparently from the Middle East and I dont know what type of religion which is respectable, but they took the restaurant as if it were a temple since they made their reverences/prayers and did not let the diners we would take places. I know it can be a sensitive topic but I believe that the most important religion in the world is empathy with others.

I loved the poutine. It was delicious and generous but what I liked the best was the service. I went in the early evening. I did not catch her name but she was polite, super nice and helpful. She made a difference. Great employee. Furniture wise, etc. needs a bit of TLC.

Nice environment. Small area but well organized. Well decorated walls with various media reviews of their restaurant. There are some Indian girls working and they were welcoming customers nice and smiling and was dealing with a manner as if they know each other long time. Thats wonderful. IMO, customers care more about how they are being treated rather how much they are being charged. Will stop by that place again anytime soon.

The fries were burnt and not fresh at all! The poutine was just a mix of old fries and tons of mayo and ketchup. Never go back there.
