Elegant French bistro with contemporary vibes in downtown Ottawa. Cocotte Bistro offers a taste of modern authentic French cuisine! Bubbles by the glass, locally sourced fresh ingredients, seasonal creations and our signature Ottawa-Brest—a National Capital take on the Paris-Brest. Whether it’s for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a weekend brunch, treat yourself to delectable and visually stunning dishes inspired by French cuisine.
We visited Cocotte Bistro on Sunday, December 1st, for a couple of friends' birthdays. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was great—our server was polite and attentive. However, I wasn’t completely satisfied with the food. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, but unfortunately, the egg wasn’t properly poached, which took away from the dish. I also tried the French toast. While it looked incredible and beautifully presented, the taste was disappointing; the eggy smell was overpowering and unpleasant. Overall, while the ambiance and service were delightful, the food fell short of expectations. I hope they can improve on these points because the place has great potential.
I had the pasta provençal, which tasted delightful. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the tomato sauce had a lovely sweetness. It was accompanied by a baguette, which was a nice addition to the meal. I arrived during the transitional period between lunch and dinner—lunch service ends at 2:30, and dinner begins at 3—so I waited in the hotel lobby in the meantime. The interior was charming, and the service was attentive and courteous. There is parking located in the building’s underground garage. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience!
Our server Anna was such a delight! Atmosphere and staff were wonderful. Portion sizes are generous and tableware is streamlined and beautiful. A lovely Sunday brunch experience!
✨ Such a gem! Cocotte Bistro was the perfect spot for a girls' brunch. The space is adorable, with a cozy vibe that made us feel right at home. 🥰 The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, adding to the experience. And the food? Absolutely scrumptious! 🥐🍓 We couldn’t get enough! My girls and I had a fabulous time, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cute, welcoming spot with delicious bites. 💕🥂
Excellent food and friendly, attentive service throughout our meal. They truly appear to appreciate your presence and custom and make you feel very welcome. Cedrik, our server, was very charming. Our party of four all had different dishes and everyone was very happy with their choices. Reasonably priced (but today's crazy post-pandemic standards) so definitely worth a return visit. The space is a bit cavernous for my liking but then it's attached to the lobby of the Metcalfe Hotel, so that probably explains the slightly odd layout of the restaurant. Minor quibble. The place is lovely and we'll be going back. Definitely keen to try their brunch menu.
Love this place, been a few times. Decor on point, vibes to remember. Food is delicious, quality and well prepared. Their one lack is service; staff is friendly and willing but the wait time is insane. We waited a good 20 minutes before being greeted by our server for the first time (we had been at our table all along) and waited for another 20 minutes for our drinks (mimosas and a Caesar). Be prepared to be there for a good two hours and it’s not because it’s full house. It’s still worth the wait for sure, hopefully service picks up the pace eventually.
This beautiful restaurant has an inviting and warm atmosphere. It's cozy, elegant and romantic. I'd say it's worth a visit for this reason alone. Service was kind and efficient until we received the desert menu; then it felt like the server forgot we were there. As for the food, I'd give it 3.5 stars if that were possible. The muscles were delicious, but the other dishes were just ok.
Cocotte Bistro offers a delightful brunch experience that's hard to beat. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely weekend meal. The menu features a fantastic selection of dishes, from classic eggs benedict to innovative twists on French favorites. The coffee is expertly brewed, and the pastries are freshly made, adding a touch of indulgence to the meal. Service is attentive yet relaxed, allowing you to truly enjoy your time. Whether you're catching up with friends or enjoying a solo outing, Cocotte Bistro provides a charming backdrop for a lovely brunch. Highly recommended!
Atmosphere is nice, service is good, but food was okay especially given the price. My wifes eggs benedict were overcooked so she mentioned this to the waiter who said he would tell the kitchen to get her new ones. Those never showed up. Then we get the bill and they have given us a 50% discount on the eggs. Not on the entire dish. On the $5 for the eggs (which my wife never got). Sigh. Its always disappointing to visit places that charge as if theyre fancy establishments but who appear clueless when it comes to service. Step it up, guys. $24 for a breakfast plate and you cant boil an egg?
I was in this restaurant for the first time, our waiter was Vitor. Simply an amazing place with perfect service. Everything is very beautiful and cozy, the dishes were very tasty and we were delighted with the cocktails. Also, Vitor was very attentive and not at all intrusive. Very nice staff!
A classic French bistro with a beautiful setting. If youre looking for French food in Ottawa this is a solid choice. Perhaps a little pricey, but the atmosphere & food make it worth it.
Great service by Cedric and really enjoyed the food. Highly recommend.
Food was divine! The eggs benedict with the caviar and salmon was BOMB! Went there for my 20th birthday and I got a slice of cake
The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere had a fantastic vibe that made the experience really enjoyable. While the staff were friendly, they seemed a bit unsure at times, which could be improved.
The food was good but the service took way too long to come(45 min)! One of two eggs was not running. The overall atmosphere was nice.
Great food, amazing service! Our server Cedrik was great, made us feel welcomed and very attentive. Will be back!
Food was amazing, best omelette ever in Ottawa. Vitor was so kind and attentive to our needs. I had my best birthday brunch :) Food
I ordered the steak frites. The meat was of very high quality, and cooked to my desired doneness (but should not have gone for medium as it resulted in too much charring on the outside). The steak was very very salty. This masked the flavor of the reduction, which was very good. The fries were also served in the same plate, soaking up the sauce and making them soggy; not a good plating decision. Its unfortunate because without these errors the dish would have been excellent. According to my family members, the cassoulet was okay, and the saint-jacques was perfect. We ordered 3 different desserts, and all three were average. The service was fine, but a tad slow. We liked that basically all of the staff spoke french. The chairs are very basic and the music was loud. Also the menu did not match between french and english. Overall an average experience. For the price i would expect more.
The aesthetic and ambiance of this restaurant is amazing. Great service and delicious food. Recommend ordering the duck confit and crème brûlée!
A bit overpriced (especially wine by the glass) but great food and wonderful atmosphere. We went on a Thursday. At two-thirds full the ambience and buzz in the main section was just right. A special shoutout to Penny for excellent service and for the special effort she made to find us a more private spot when two large Christmas parties surrounded us.
Delicious lunch in such a quaint bistro!
Today we went to Cocotte Bistro for our second team holiday breakfast. Joseph was great at helping me get this set up including providing our company with an invoice this year as we no longer use credit cards. He was very understanding and quick at getting his Finance Dept. to assist me. This year we were seated at the back of the restaurant which was so much cozier for our team. The atmosphere is lovely. Our server did a great job with our large group. We could have been offered water and coffee top-ups more frequently though. The food was served hot and to everyone at once which was amazing! Our server even prepared a take-away meal for a coworker who had to leave early. The food was well presented and fresh. It would have been nice to have jam for the toast. They were accommodating for food allergies. I would definitely recommend Cocotte Bistro for a group event. Thank you Joseph for the wonderful service! Dietary restrictions: They were accommodating to those in our group with food allergies.
Came in for an anniversary dinner, everything was amazing! Shoutout to our server Vitor for taking care of us, will be back!
Cute. Must try. Nice atmosphere....
Penny our server was amazing. So kind, fast & professional! The food is perfect. Healthy, light and tasty. Parking: Street parking free after 5:30 pm!
Christo s service was excellent. Thank you so much!
If I could, I d give this place 3.5 stars. It wasn t quite a 4, but better than a 3, so I rounded up. The atmosphere is dressy casual, which made for a nice dinner setting, but the overall experience fell short in a few areas. The service was friendly, but pretty slow. It took about 20 minutes to be acknowledged and another 10 to get our drinks. We had to ask for things like bread multiple times, and when it finally arrived, it was just before my partner s meal (mine came 15 min later). He also requested a steak knife twice and never got one. For a restaurant that wasn t busy, this was disappointing. The food was hit or miss. I had the salmon, which was slightly overcooked, but the sauce was flavorful. The potatoes were a bit too salty but otherwise well-prepared, and the green beans were perfect. My partner ordered the steak and fries. His steak was undercooked for his liking, and the fries were just average. He enjoyed the sauce, but the missing steak knife and poor timing really affected his meal. While my food was decent, his overall experience wasn t great. This place has potential, but it needs better service and more consistent food to make it a place worth returning to.
Family dinner for 3. Noisy restaurant, decent cuisine but with a few surprises (example pepper in the ratatouille, too strong for me). Our little boys pasta dish had been forgotten and landed on the table in 5 minutes after complaint, Pene bathed in oil and without cheese, he ate little. Disappointing despite a very friendly server who did what he could.
We had such a lovely dinner! The food was delicious and our waiter Cedrik was so kind and welcoming. Definitely recommend for a nice dinner :)
Great experience. The food was delicious. Our server Vitor was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our experience. Christo was amazing
This place is a must visit. You wont regret it.
Nice place for lunch!
A beautiful place. Efficient service. Kitchen consistent with what can be expected.
Came here for lunch and loved the atmosphere, service and food. The presentation of dessert was beautiful. Ordered the croissant-mi and it was tasty. Would definitely come back to try more things on the menu! So glad they have brunch, lunch, breakfast and dinner menus. The vibe and decor was lovely.
A perfect simulacrum of what we believe a French bistro to be.
We had a date night here and from food to service, was world class. We had the oysters, tuna salad and scallops. Friends had the steak and the burger. Everything was great! Our server, Vitor, was the best part of the night. We didnt get the name of the bartender, but she was great! I wish my old fashioned was a large cube but both that and the Blossom cocktail were great! Well be back!
The service from Christo was outstanding and the meals were great: steak & frites, halibut .
We had an amazing time at Cocotte for our first visit. The food was incredible, and our waitress, Chelsea, was very kind and helpful. She did a great job helping us to choose a wine to go with our coq au vin, and was very patient while we deliberated, even though we knew she was busy. We will definitely be back!
Great espresso martini and decor. Cedrik was wonderful!
The flétan was delicious! The joue de veau was too salty.
Kid-friendliness: Good for kids Food
Such a great place. The food is excellent. The service was actually the best part of our experience. Cedrik was just wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Our brunch experience was amazing! This place has the best atmosphere, the food was excellent and service was impeccable! Our waiter Cedrik ensured that we had everything, such a great experience!
Mariane was fantastic and food was great!
Our server Vitor was nice and the food was lovely ! We came for brunch. Excellent atmosphere :)
i came here from montreal to try out cocotte and i was served by marianne. a very nice girl that is very helpful and approachable, she suggested very good drinks that i loved ! she was very polite and up to the etiquette of this french bistro !
This is a good restaurant. The food is delicious. Very pricey. Service was good except for when the hostess sat us. She told us they were overbooked and that they were asking their customers to try to be done in an hour and to not to order the chicken because the dish took too long to prepare. Now I had looked at the menu before going and had decided on the chicken before getting there. Instead of ordering what I really wanted I ended up getting the fish. I have never experienced this type of request before from a restaurant. I spent over 250$ for two people. It made me feel uncomfortable. I will not be returning and its too bad because the food is very good.
The food was great but the service was far from. We waited over an hour for our food and what felt like even longer for basic condiments and was still forced to tip 18% as we were a group of 6. We saw a group of people walk out as they waited over an hour for a table that they had reserved. Perhaps management can take some time to train the staff for efficiency to aid in better service. Unfortunately the service will deter people from coming back even though the food was delicious.
My wife and I recently dined here to celebrate our 19th anniversary, excited for a memorable experience. Upon arrival, however, we were assigned a standard table without any special attention to our anniversary. I had hoped that the occasion might lead to a cozy couples table, but unfortunately, this wasn t the case. We were initially seated near a lively group and directly under a speaker playing French music, which made it challenging to enjoy a more intimate atmosphere. I kindly requested a quieter setting, and we were moved to the hotel lobby area. While it was somewhat more comfortable, the location near the door meant we felt a draft each time the valet entered or exited. Fortunately, most other guests used the inner doors, which helped minimize this. As for the meal, some dishes were enjoyable, though not all felt in line with the price point. My wife s carrot ginger soup, unfortunately, had a slightly stale taste, and the ginger was hard to detect, so she decided to return it. The oysters I had were excellent, and her St. Jacques was good, though it had a somewhat fishy taste and didn t quite reflect the elegance we expected for the dish. My blanquette à l agneau was fine but would have been improved with more vegetables and a lighter sauce, as it felt somewhat thick. Initially, we had planned to enjoy dessert, but the experience had by then diminished our enthusiasm.
What a lovely place this. Our server was very friendly & attentive, without being intrusive. We came back after dinner as we were staying at this lovely hotel and had a nightcap so really twice in one night.
We came here for a birthday brunch. The food was very good, but the service could have been better. Our coffee cups were empty for most of the meal, and the server didn t seem very friendly. I mentioned in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, and apparently they asked again when I happened to be away from the table. It felt a bit unnecessary since no special effort was made. The only accessible parking option is a $25 valet, though there are cheaper parking options nearby if you are able to walk a few minutes.
Wonderful French restaurant with a Canadian twist. Great ambiance and vibe.
Decided to try out a new restaurant in the city, and ended up having a wonderful evening. Our server Cedrik was so welcoming and friendly, that he made our dinning experience so comforting. The duck was one of the best things I ve ever tasted, alongside the squash soup. Will be coming back!
Pretty restaurant but the food was overpriced and the brunch was nothing spectacular. There s better places for cheaper.
I had an amazing experience at Cocotte Bistro, and a big part of that was thanks to our incredible waiter, Cedric. From the moment we sat down, he went above and beyond to make our night special. Cedric was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering fantastic recommendations that made the meal even more enjoyable. His timing was perfect always there when we needed something, but never intrusive. It s rare to find someone who genuinely cares about creating a memorable dining experience, and Cedric truly made our night unforgettable. Highly recommend both the food and the outstanding service!
The food was excellent and delicious. Very tasteful and well presented. The service was great. Marianne was amazing, very friendly and always checking if everything was good.
While walking through Ottawa, I stumbled upon a charming French restaurant that initially seemed unassuming. However, the ambiance immediately drew me in, making me feel right at home. As I sampled my meal, the enticing aromas left me wondering why I had never visited before. Each dish was delicious, and nothing disappointed. This hidden gem is definitely worth a visit!
Our server was Kirsten. The service was just top notch. She was just amazing. Though was a little disappointed with the Foie gras because everything on the plate was just too dry. The mash potatoes that we ordered on side with our main course were absolutely bland. Our main course was the highlight of the evening which was Braised veal, So damn delicious. Thank you.
Fabulous classic French bistro food and professional service. One of the best meals I ve had in Ottawa in a long time.
Very nice atmosphere and the food is excellent! Well done to the chefs! However, the service was terrible. Kirtsen was stupid. She dropped a bottle of water on us and never apologized. It does not offer service up to the standard of the restaurant. She charged us $22 too much tip and never apologized when she gave us the money. Weve never had a problem before, but the service tonight was low-end for such a delicious and friendly restaurant.
Excellent breakfasts, professional and friendly service, good coffee, charming atmosphere on Sunday morning :)
Great Food Great Service Waiter (Vitor) was so friendly, always smiling Food : 5/5
Food was really good. Service was great.
I was disappointed. For the price the food was fine, but nothing particularly amazing. Lunch service was pretty slow.
My husband just happened to find this place online and made a last minute reso! It was such a wonderful surprise! We had such a lovely time and the food and coffee was delicious! Our server was Vitor and he did such a wonderful job ensuring we had all that we needed. Would 100% recommend to anyone! I loved the atmosphere - so chic and welcoming too.
Excellent service from Rae!
We had the Royale burgers with French fries. They were delicious. Our waitress, Rae, was very nice. Perfect!
The metcalfe espresso martini was AMAZING! So was the creme brulee!
Enjoyed my anniversary here and Vitor provided remarkable service.
Three of us for dinner on a Saturday night. Pleasant ambiance and contemporary low-key decor. The room - though busy - was quiet enough to hold a conversation during a meal without straining. We ordered the halibut, hamburger and steak frites. For dessert, we shared the pecan pie. Nothing stood out as particularly memorable or flavourful. A bit bland and ordinary. The kitchen could step up its flavour game!
Celebrated my friend s birthday here for brunch and we absolutely loved it. The Parliamentary Paloma drink and the Avocado Toast are delicious. Thanks for the wonderful service!
The food was decent the dishes were prepared well enough, though they didnt really stand out in any way. Also, it took almost two hours for one steak and one salmon. Unfortunately, the service was a major letdown. Our waitress seemed uninterested and was incredibly slow throughout the meal. She wasnt very knowledgeable about the menu. The staff appeared to prioritize chatting at the bar over attending to customers. It s a shame because the potential was there.
Cedrick was our server and he was very attentive and friendly. Loved the atmosphere and the background music was pleasant.
Cocette Bistro offers a delicious dining experience! I started with the shrimp appetizer an absolute 10/10. For the main course, I had a fish dish and the steak frites, both of which were fantastic. The service was a bit slow, but they kindly offered a 10% discount to make up for it. Overall, a great meal in a cozy atmosphere.
Food was amazing was so good and the ambiance was perfect
Very disappointing. Expensive and the quality is average. Would not recommend.
The food and drinks were exceptional, and our server, Victor, provided outstanding service. We were also fortunate to have the assistance of a Supervisor, who ensured our needs were met with the same level of attention and care.
Really poor service, we felt like she really didnt want to be there The main course was good On the other hand the French toast is ridiculous we give you 2 slices of bread almost dry even not soaked The non-existent custard Dont waste your agent on this dish its a steal $20
I really enjoyed the warm and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. The first course Crevettes au Pernod was delicious! Probably the best shrimp Ive ever had in Ottawa: the delicate sauce paired perfectly with the shrimp , creating a harmonious taste experience. The second course was good Fletan Duglere. For the third course, we tried Poulet rôti coq au vin and fried potatoes. Here, I d like to note that rice would have been a better choice than the potatoes, which were overcooked. As for the cappuccino , unfortunately, it was disappointing it wasn t a cappuccino at all, just regular, flavorless coffee without milk. I wouldnt recommend it. Overall, I was satisfied with my visit and plan to try the duck and desserts next time. The quality of the cutlery was excellent: 18/10 standard, as it should be for restaurants. $108 for three courses the quality of the food fully justifies the price. Your restaurant would greatly benefit from expanding its wine collection with Georgian wine Kindzmarauli. It would add unique flavor nuances and delight your guests with its exceptional bouquet.
I loved the place! It looks and smells amazing, the waitresses were kind and offered a pleasant service, and the food was yummy, big portions and not too pricey.
Great place for anyone who can appreciate amazing interior design. Every inch is so beautiful from the tiles to the stunning marble counters, I cant get iver how beautiful this place looks. Service is so quick... To fast even. We had to ask to take more time between our services. I had the duck and tartare, it was perfection.
Perfect service and very pleasant atmosphere!
Excellent to recommend!
Restaurant was loud, service was not good. steak Tartare was not good steak was grey, duct was ok but sides were not good. Onion soup was ok and mussels were extremely bland. Wouldn t recommend won t go back
Penny was amazing Parking: Penny was amazing Food : 5/5 |
Great place and tasty food, bit pricey for lunch
Wow! I love this place!! cozy atmosphere and delicious food (and drinks ). Cedrik, our waiter, was friendly and attentive, providing excellent recommendations! A wonderful dining experience overall! Highly recommended.
Had dinner there with my husband for our anniversary and our waiter Vitor made our night even more special. He was so kind and attentive. Vitor and the staff members like Flávia and Brooke showed great hospitality.
If you only have an hour for lunch avoid this place. Took 25 minutes just to have someone take our order to finally walk out 35 minutes later without having eaten. Very disappointed.
I went recently and the wait was a little insane. We made a reservation a week in advance and we got there right on time but we had to wait 25 minutes for our table to be cleared. (Felt like they had forgotten us) We were there from 7:20 and we didnt get our food till 9. During that time we had 1 water refill and thats about it. The food was majorly disappointing. For the price point, I would expect it to at least be good. I got the Salmon tartare and one of my friends got the pasta. VERY underwhelming. It felt like they were understaffed but I would blame it on the management. The server was friendly but clearly stressed and rushed. My favourite part was the ambiance, I loved the expensive setting, but apart from that I was quite disappointed.
Great spot for a quiet breakfast. Chelsea made my day.
Their vegan options are amazing. Loved it! I am coming back for sure!
Very cozy little restaurant, the food was excellent and the staff very welcoming. Thanks to Cédrick for the excellent service and his cheerful mood.
Good food and great service. We got a great service from our server Emna. She took the time to explain whats on the menu with a friendly attitude and kept checking on us without being intrusive. The chicken dish that I ordered was good but portion was on the small side. All in all was a great experience.
Good
Cedrik was the best server I have ever had at a restaurant, give that man a raise.
Cedrik was the greatest server ever! Fast service, fun ti talk to, and very friendly. Food was also incredible
Parking: Good Food
Delicious French cuisine in an urban bistro atmosphere. Really appreciated that we could be served in French and that everyone else who came by our table who didnt speak French fluently still gave it their best try. Its not always a given that you can get served in French, and its great that this French cuisine establishment makes the effort! Also highly recommend their lively mocktail selection
A great experience! The atmosphere was beautiful and our server Kirsten was very helpful. She made a perfect recommendation for the Flétan Dugleré dish, and it did not disappoint.
Fabulous restaurant, wonderful service provided by Melina. Had a good time here would recommend!
Update: I wanted to say a big thank you to Mr Rogers for calling me today and for taking full ownership of what had transpired. I hope that my experience will serve as a benchmark to ensure this does not happen again in the future. I also wanted to say a big thank you to our first waiter Vitor, you were very kind to us the entire evening. I brought my husband to Cocotte Bistro last Saturday to celebrate his birthday, when I got there we waited more than 5 minutes to be greated. We did not even finish our starters yet, a waistress brought our main courses. When our original waiter passed by us, he apologized to us and seems confused. Not even 5 minutes later the same waistress that brought our main courses, came to us and ask us to move to another seat because she needed to make space for a large group. My husband and I did not want to make a scene, we took our plates and move seats. We felt so direspected, everyone was looking at us. I wanted to cry, I felt so ashamed and terrible for ruining my husbands birthday. Our total came to $255, our experience was horrible!
Within the Metcalfe Hotel exists this restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast is hearty and delicious. The ambience has the essence of a French bistro and is laid back. I recommend the eggy sandwich which should keep you going until mid afternoon. The brioche bun is so good!
We had an excellent Happy Hour meal! Pat was our server. He was great at giving us information on the menu and he was very personable! We will look for him when we go back!
Beautiful place to dine. I spent time with friends at this fabulous place .
Noa was a fantastic hostess with her bright smile and welcoming energy. She took great care of me, the service was awesome! The food was also 10/10, a great pleasure, I will be back
I went to lunch with a friend at Casserole for the first time. And frankly, I was pleasantly surprised! The service was impeccable!Noa, our server was attentive and recommended the Provençal pasta and they were phenomenal!!
Food was great!! Our server Noa was very attentive and helpful with the questions.
Food is so tasty. We had a great experience.
Atmosphere is beautiful and my waiter was Cedrik and he was very attentive!
Im very disappointed with the food here. The mistakes during the meal were quite basic. My friends and I were served warm oysters, and they placed warm pebbles under the dishes. The soup for the appetizer arrived cold, and I have no idea what the kitchen was doing. I ordered my ribeye medium rare, but the edges looked more like medium, while the middle seemed rare. After I communicated with the server for a replacement, the manager came over and lectured me, saying it was normal. The pairing of sides was also poorly thought out; the confit duck was served with a heavy creamy pasta, and the ribeye was accompanied by a strongly fishy cauliflower and carrot puree. Thats just my personal opinion on the sides, and you can choose to disregard it, but they really made so many mistakes.
Love it! All their food is amazing, can t wait to go back!
eggs benedict was excellent
Absolutely incredible food, vibes and service! You the best Cedrik!
Our waiter, Cedrik, provided excellent service and gave us a few recommended activities and bars for tonight. He was wonderful. The food was great and perfect to start the day!
Marianne, the bartender, was absolutely delightful and truly elevated the atmosphere of the bar. Her exceptional service set a new standard, making the entire experience unforgettable. Thanks to her friendliness and professionalism, I ll definitely be recommending this place to friends!
My husband and I celebrated his sister s birthday at your fine establishment. The service was impeccable with Christo. Extremely polite and very friendly. Christo made recommendations for the meal and wine. Vegetarian options: They have a vegetarian option which is noted on the menu. Parking: We parked at City Hall and walked over.
We went for lunch. It was okay. The overall décor was lovely. We had long-standing reservations but were initially got seated in a dark drafty corner by the kitchen in the half-empty restaurant. The server at least relocated us when we asked (to yet another underwhelming location but at least it was not drafty). My Niçoise salad was okay , but needed more flavour and quality for the price (the olives, for example looked at tasted like they came straight out of a can, each piece of potato was cold, dry, and tasteless). Finally, the warm bread came out as soon as we were finishing the meal. My husband s salmon looked and tasted great.
Enjoyable evening, staff friendly. Presentation of fries with steak disappointing, just piled on plate with many tiny pieces of fries.
A little expensive. But an excellent restaurant. The choice of desserts could be greater
Great place for a business lunch downtown. Salade niçoise is great!
A great spot to stop for lunch with an incredible atrium. A hidden gem in downtown Ottawa.
Beautifully appointed, terrific service. Quick and clean food
Very nice place
My boyfriend and I met my Uncle here for our final farewell brunch. Not only was I impressed by our experience; but most importantly my uncle was. He was impressed by the atmosphere, the food and the waitress (Chelsea). Who was very attentive. He has flown as a private pilot for many years and lives in hotels- and his confidence can (at times) rub people the wrong way. So, thank-you!!! -For not only putting up with him, but also participating in his banter. I felt proud as we parted to have him impressed with an Ottawa eating experience.
The five star are for Cedrik, who provided the best service
The food was amazing, tasted perfect and the flavours were just right ! Our server Cédrik was amazing aswell, he was very nice and always ready to assist!
Excellent cuisine and unparalleled service. Great discovery!
Food was very flavourful and enjoyed the vibe. Definitely would come again. Big shout out to our waiter Cedrik, was super kind and always checked up on us if we needed anything. 10/10 would recommend
An excellent experience thanks to our server Cedrik!!! Impeccable service! A big thank you :)
Wonderful dishes, attentive service and lovely ambiance. Overall, a great place for brunch! Mimosas, American breakfast with bacon, avocado toast with or without smoked salmon - everything was delicious. Parking: Free street parking right across the street on weekends
A very nice experience. The food was flavorful and the potatoes were so crispy and tender. I had the eggs Benedict which was very nice. Our server, Vincent, was wonderful, quick, and efficient. The restaurant itself is a beautiful setting. I would go back.
Since we were staying at The Metcalfe by Gray Collection hotel, we also had dinner at Cocotte as many of the reviews were very positive. Unfortunately we cannot confirm this. We had the halibut with fries. We had to wait a long time for our food and the fish was slightly burnt and therefore a bit bitter, the fries were fried very hot, but weak, not crispy. In addition, the noise level was so high that conversations were hardly possible. Unfortunately we cannot recommend the restaurant.
Great surprise we stumbled on in Ottawa. Food was delicious and our server Vitor was extremely helpful answering many questions not just about the menu but about what to do in Ottawa.
We visited Cocotte Bistro recently and I ordered the avocado toast, expecting a simple, delicious dish. Unfortunately, it came loaded with chopped onions something that wasn t mentioned on the menu. To make matters worse, the onions were under-pickled, leaving a strong, bitter taste and an overpowering smell that completely ruined the meal for me, especially since I hate onions. What s even more concerning is the lack of transparency. What if I had been allergic? It s unacceptable for such a prominent ingredient to be left off the menu. To top it off, the service was incredibly slow throughout our visit. It took far too long for our meals to arrive, adding to an already disappointing experience. Parking: No parking available
Cedric was absolutely fantastic!
Cedric was a terrific server. Very professional
My wife and I are in Ottawa for an anniversary weekend. We have travelled far and wide and eaten everything and everywhere. Chip trucks to high end. Never ask for much. Always polite and friendly and great tippers. Have never ever had such a rude greeting. All we did was ask for a table not out in the open. They proceeded to serve people that arrived after us. They were laughing when I asked if we could get some water and still no one served us. Again. All we did was ask for another table. As long as I live I will never ever recommend the Metcalfe hotel or Cocotte. Totally pretentious and insulting young ignorant greeter. Actually I ll make a point to tell people not to visit either spot.
Was pleasantly surprised. This place was so quaint and great atmosphere for a 1 on 1 date or group setting. Loved the decor. We sat in a booth super romantic. Muito obrigado Vitor! Great service :)
Very pricey for the amount of food you get.
Cedric was amazing! Great fun service from him . The food couldve been fuller
Great experience and food! Thanks Cedrick for the service.
I recently visited Cocotte Bistro, and while the ambiance was cozy and inviting, the experience overall was disappointing. I ordered the glazed salmon with frise, but it lacked flavor and wasn t cooked properly. I didn t mention it to the waitress, as she already seemed grumpy and disengaged. The service was the biggest issue. The waitress made two mistakes with our orders, didn t make eye contact, and seemed uninterested in getting things right. We had to correct the bill twice. In such a fancy restaurant, I would expect someone who looks more professional, clean, and decent certainly not with super long lashes and overly done lip fillers. Additionally, the food portions were very small, and the variety on the menu was quite limited. Overall, it was not an experience I d be eager to repeat.
We loved the experience. Especially Vitors attention has been extraordinary.
Had a lovely dining experience. Was my first time here and Cedrik made my friend and I feel right at home. Very kind, efficient and ensured our meals were correct. Highly recommend :)
5/5..Cedrik was a great host!
The food is very well executed, the atmosphere is 1/2 classic Bistro and 1/2 laid back architects library, staff are friendly and professional. IMHO they have the best brunch -- worth driving in from the suburbs Kid-friendliness: Ive been here a few times with preschooler and baby and toddler. They have high chairs, theyre helpful with kids. For my family, the best seating option is in the lounge/library with lots of space for toddler to wander nearby without bothering other customers.
Beautiful restaurant, great food and our server Cedrik was amazing!
The food service and atmosphere were all excellent. We would recommend a visit here.
The food was great, our waiter Cédric was super friendly and thoughtful!
Cedrik is a great waiter, super friendly, great atmosphere too
Chelsea was a wonderful waitress. Please to meet us and to take care of ourselves. My wife was amazed by the salmon benedict. We will recommend this place to our friends for sure. Thanks again Chelsea, and cocotte bistro
A long time over due review for this great place. Thanks for the great service from Brooke and the recommendation for one of the best dessert we got since a very long time. Kudos to the chef Emllio for the reinvented Smores - we have craving for it still. If this is on the menu you have to try it. We cant wait to be back again! See you soon Cocotte Bistro.
Real French food was delicious, our waiter Vitor was lovely and was always ready to help us.
Mocktail was really nice in the evening but breakfast left a lot to be desired, bad service, host didnt even greet us just led us to the table without a word. coffee took 20 minutes and came cold. Ordered a croissant but it never came. When the waiter was reminded we were told there werent any why wouldnt they say anything when we ordered . Pretty bad experience for a hotel of this reputation and caliber .
We had a wonderful breakfast experience here! Janan was our server, and she was amazing! Helpful, accommodating and super friendly Really recommend this place Food
Overpriced. Poor quality.
The food here is amazing. We had dinner here two nights in a row. We tried the salads and the flétan. Everything was perfect! Most important: Vitor was the best!! So polite and kind and very good at his job. Thank you! Food : 5/5
The restaurant is gorgeous, the atmosphere is so lovely. Staff was very courteous and so kind, though unfortunately service was really really slow. The food was ok... I wouldnt say Id come back for the food, but the space is quite unique.
The people here try very hard, but they usually just miss the mark. Once, I had a Niçoise salad, which was bland because it was prepared without olives. (Olives are a standard part of a Niçoise and were listed as part of the salad on the menu.) I would have told the server, but she was nowhere to be found. A small number of servers are left to serve a large dining room, a lounge, and a patio, which often means that diners are left without servers. On another occasion, I had the maple-glazed salmon. The fish itself was excellent, but it was served on a bed of beluga lentils, which were crunchy and had a raw flavour. I once ordered the salmon tartare. The fries were excellent, but the salmon was bland, mixed with chopped vegetables which added little flavour (how about some anchovies or capers or hot pepper?). I had the burger, which is served on a brioche bun. The bun is too soft, it cant stand up to the moisture from the burger and the toppings, and it falls apart in your hands before you can finish your meal.
The food is to die for. Everything is fine french cuisine. I would recommend and we will absolutely come again. Our serveur was Cédric and he was awesome Vegetarian options: Tofu Parmentier
Very good restaurant thanks to Cedrick for his professionalism, impeccable service!
Had an incredible steak frites on a date night with my wife. She ordered oysters and the steak tartare, and said it was the best shes ever had in Ottawa. We will definitely be coming back!
Great service from Chirsto and love elegant atmosphere! All foods are very delicious except French Onion soup is not my taste, Vegetarian options: Very friendly for vegans

Excellent service! Each recommendation lived up to our expectations! Nice atmosphere. A perfect evening! Thanks Cedrik!
Cedrick was a great server. Steak is the best deal. Don t skip on the beef tartar. 10/10.

Cedric was the best server ever!!!! You did that Thank youuuuuu bistro cocotte!
Cedrik is a good server, very kind and attentive to the guest
Cedrik took great care of us during this great meal. Food was perfect, Had the Saint-Jacques, cooked to perfection. The Duck & Foie Gras appetizer was delicious. Highly recommend. Also has a decent wine selection.
The food was amazing
Came for a lunch but the menu looked very limited, more appropriate for breakfast. Left for another place
Vitor was an amazing host to our time here at brunch! So welcoming and friendly and gave us the best suggestions for the menu. We will definitely be back for dinner at Cocotte one day.
My friends and I had a great dinner here. The Open-concept dining room: decor looks elegant and very refined dining experience Our starters Duck and Foie Gras Rillettes: tender, slow-cooked shredded duck meat with the rich, buttery texture of foie gras (duck or goose liver). Its a perfect appetizer that highlights the finest French culinary traditions. Oysters: fresh but small. Our main course Duck confit signature of French cuisine, a perfect harmony of tender meat and crispy skin, i like the melt-in-your-mouth meat. Highly recommended. Pinot Noir Wine: Mediocre.
Bad service
Excellent attention from Vitor! We do not speak English or French and he made every effort to speak Spanish. Thanks Victor, it was a pleasure meeting you.
Wow what a lovely brunch experience!! We found this place on a whim and decided to try it out last Sunday and we were pleasantly surprised. Our waiter was Vitor and he provided excellent service from the moment we sat down to when we left. To start, we were brought out complimentary French pastries that were unexpected but oh so welcomed and appreciated. We ordered the thick cut (no really it s truly thicc cut) bacon eggs Benny, and the avocado toast. Each dish came with deliciousss herby rosemary potatoes. And the eggs Benny came with a small mixed green salad as well. The portions were nap inducing (compliment lol). To drink, we ordered the orange and grapefruit mimosas, and coffee for one. Very tasty all throughout! We can t wait for our next visit !!!
Everything was near perfect, loud construction outside which isnt really their fault. Tables were wobbly. A bit pricy but thats the atmosphere they portray.
Very good service with Christo our server
Our server Ashley was absolutely amazing. Id return just for her!
The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a beautiful, the air conditioning was too low though. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!
Came here for a friend s birthday on a Saturday night, restaurant had some people but not busy at all. In total we spent around 1hr45 mins waiting and 15 mins eating. Ordered our drinks and the staff brought out half the drinks and the rest of us had to wait. In addition, we waited around 30 minutes to finally get water and our server only came to our table once to refill our water at the end of the night. We kept having to flag down our server in order to get faster service because they never checked in on us. The food was good, but I cannot justify $30 for a burger that just falls apart. Further, we had to flag down the server to serve our cake and it took another 20 minutes to serve it to us. At the end, we had to pay a mandatory 18% tip because we were in a group, but for such slow and poor service that s ridiculous. If we had received way faster service, especially because it was a weekend and not even busy I probably wouldn t be writing this review right now. Really wanted to enjoy it but would not go again and would not recommend to others. :(
Very special. .wow
Very pretty place with very bistro furniture indeed and natural light thanks to the skylights. Bilingual staff. Classic brunch menu, delicious dishes. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Eggs Benedict
Pat was fantastic. Very good food and very good service!
First time was good, especially the mussels. Second time I went again but the food was off and no AC. Your management should should at least let people know its not working and let the customers decide if they want to eat in the heat or not. Extremely unpleasant.
Wonderful food and service!
It was a pleasure food service everything shoutout to Cedric he made a great job serving us will come back definitely in the near future
Wonderful atmosphere! Wonderful food and our server, Cedrik was an absolute delight. Highly recommend this place.
Emma was amazing! She elevated our experience for sure!!
We ordered 3 starters (shrimps, beef tartare, and duck & foie gras dish), 1 main (duck). Shrimps - portion was small vs price. Cream sauce was good Beef tatare - tartare was good, accompanyig chips tasted old Fois gras - liked it Duck - was amazing and found all flavours perfect harmony Service - Emna was outstanding. Pleasant service and very attentice
