Our goal at the Albion Rooms is to provide you with the best of old-world hospitality. No matter your occasion, our passionate and knowledgeable staff will ensure your experience with us is one to remember. From craft Ontario beers and specially selected wines, to signature cocktails and dishes borrowing from traditional European and Canadian cuisine, our menu aims to please even the most discerning palate.
I was welcomed by a friendly face and took my place at the bar. Ray the bartender quickly served me. He then went out of his way to see if the kitchen could serve me early. They could, and they did! The steak was done almost exactly how I like. I mean, so close! So good! I ate as much as I could and took the rest with me. It was a bit pricey, but if you are looking to spoil yourself, this is the place for you!
My experience was 50% hit and 50% miss. Had the supreme chicken and scallop risotto. The supreme chicken was excellent, highly recommend. Juicy and flavourful. But the scallops were terrible. Didn’t like the flavours and parts of the dish felt both overcooked and undercooked.
We went for brunch. Their brunch menu was small but had variety. We ordered the duck poutine and croque monsieur. The duck poutine was good and filling. The croque monsieur was a bit small. Overall the duck poutine was worth it but the croque monsieur was a bit pricey for what you get. Thr atmosphere is cute and plenty of seating is available.
Ordered "Tri Color Tortilla" which is basically nachos. However this is the saddest nachos I've ever had. I would give it 2 stars, but I gave an extra star because their duck confit is actually pretty good. I now know why I don't see a google photo of this dish. People probably didn't know what they're eating. There was barely any cheddar. The "salsa dip" from the description on the menu was almost non-existent. There were merely some sprinkled chopped tomatoes. Only the few chips at the top were partially covered with some substance, everything underneath was dry like chips from a bag. I see why they don't call it nachos, it's literally just a bag of tri color chips with some sprinkled topping. AND WHERE IS THE SOUR CREAM?? Check the pictures and see for yourself! I might as well just get a bag of chips from Costco and put them in a fancy plate. At the end of the meal, I did inform the staff of the lack of salsa, and he said he would tell the kitchen. If you ever come here for brunch, order this with caution. I hope they 1. Change the dish name on the menu to reflect what it is (Nachos, or Tortilla CHIPS with toppings) 2. Responsibly put the ingredients you listed in description in the actual dish. Nobody wants dried bag of chips in a bowl at a "4 star hotel" brunch. 3. Keep up the good work on the duck confit
This was definitely a bust. I ordered a burger and fries. Just wanted a quick bite. Didn’t even take a menu. The menu outside sounded good. They made me an undercooked burger. Pink in the middle. They took my plate away to remake it. They took the fries. Waiter realized I was sitting there hungry waiting, brought fries back. . While I cont. to wait ..Proceeded to take almost 30 minutes to re make burger. I got up looking for wait staff to say hey what’s going on here. They were going to charge me full price.. they brought back a bill for 23.73 .. you gave me a pink burger .. and then didn’t replace it in a reasonable amount of time. You could have at least compt it? Bad service and expensive. I did not eat the remade burger at the restaurant. I was pretty turned off by the whole experience. No real remorse that I could get sick while I’m on a trip here. Not happy. Being prompt with the re-fire or being sincerely sorry could have prevented my poor review. Do better.
Delicious foods in a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful in making decisions tailored to your tastes too! Price was fair in relation to the food quality - a little on the pricier side, but absolutely justified! Definitely recommend, would return when I have the chance! Delicious drinks, tasty meals, amazing dessert
My partner and I visited for NYE. The food and cocktails were delicious and the service was excellent, but the portion sizes were super tiny and it was wildly overpriced ($250 for 2, so $125 per person). For this cost, I expected each of us to get our own dishes. Instead, we had split the three starters and the dessert (a charcuterie plate, a single solitary beet, a bowl of pasta, and a Paris Brest). It's certainly possible I misunderstood the menu they posted online, but for $250 I think it's reasonable to expect that we'd each get our own beet/salad. I'd go back for a meal but I would definitely not return for a fixed price tasting menu like this.
Quiet night at The Albion Rooms (Tuesday evening). Service was efficient and friendly. Perfect setting for a small group gathering. Nice cocktails and tasty food. We greatly enjoyed the small plates options, it allowed us to sample and share several options from the menu. The duck wings were definitely a favorite of the table, the gnudi were light and pillowy while the veggie bowl was blend. Overall very pleasant evening.
Nice place but the food was disappointing and way over-priced for the quality and portion sizes.
Walked in waiting to be seated; servers chatting just looked at us casually and walked away. Then, we hesitantly walked in and sat; we were ignored for at least 25 minutes. Other people walking in were either randomly ignored or helped. Finally a person noticed us came over, got us a menu and said he ll call his collegue to help us. That took another 19 mins. So we walked up to servers behind the bar and asked to be helped. I m Unsure why some of the people who walked in and stood next to us were immediately attended to. Decide to just skip the food, get drinks and just enjoy the nice seating area they have. The place needs proper management, it has a lot of potential.
Sharing board definitely worth having as a starter. Main courses also good
We randomly stopped in while walking by with our newborn and toddler, staff was super accommodating, food was delicious and beyond our expectations. Will be back and highly recommend! We had steak and truffle fries, and risotto
This place is perfect!!! You must come and taste their menu is fantastic!
We loved our dinner at Albion. The food was excellent, we had the duck and scallops. We finished our meal with a charcuterie plate, one of the best we ever had! Size of cheeses, quality, and home made pickled veggies. I strongly recommend Food
Great location close to downtown but tucked away in a relatively quiet area. Nice ambiance and service, duck wings were delicious.
We went for a drink and it was excellent I loved my Bloody Mary!!
This is a really cute restaurant with what looks like new, elegant, rustic-chic decor. It was nice to have a hotel restaurant without incoherent, unsettling interior design that hasn t been updated in 20 years. Our server took good care of us. The French toast with vanilla mascarpone was amazing.
I went here for my birthday supper on Friday. The food was great and the portions were on point. We shared a bottle of wine as well. As far as ambience, it was SO NICE to be in a restaurant/lounge where there wasnt club music blaring in the background. I was able to actually have a conversation across the table! Our server was outstanding - attentive without being intrusive. We shared the bruschetta appetizer and then I had the scallops with barley risotto and blueberry cheesecake. Yum!
Very well received and top service. Delicious burger The cheesecake was okay, but the crème brûlée wasnt cooked too bad
The server/manager/owner (not sure which he was but he certainly had a god complex) was extremely rude and made a big scene embarrassing my guest and I. The hotel was great but this guy was borderline abusive. Will not be returning due to him.
Nice gastro bar in the Novotel City Center. We had an excellent sausage and cheese platter. There are good beers on tap.
Went there with a big group on a Monday night. Food was quite good, albeit quite rich in the pasta dish I was told by a tablemate. Duck Confit was very nicely prepared and great flavour. Good cheese and charcuterie selection , but definitely on the pricier side. Only reason I didnt do 5 stars, which I try to do to support restaurants with good food is that the service was very lacking. Only one or two other tables in there for most of our time, and it took an incredibly long time for everything (i.e., 35min for first round of drinks, once ordered, which took a long time to get to ordering). Will try again, and recommend others try, but that service was so lacking that I cant give 5.
I was there with a group (of 7); we had a longstanding reservation so no surprise when we showed up. For some reason it seemed like we were extremely low priority to the servers, and many of us were unhappy with our orders. I was served a burger without cheese or bacon even though everyone else (in the restaurant!) seemed to get the burger as described in the menu. I didn t have a chance to request an amendment so just ate my flavourless (burnt?) burger. Others had fish and chips and found the fish drab. Was disappointed as I am staying in the hotel for the week so planned on visiting a few more times. Had high hopes as I stayed at the hotel and ate here before and it was better then, pre-pandemic. Maybe the kitchen has changed? Edit to add that based on other reviews, maybe there s a staffing issue, which is unfortunate!
We went to the Albion Room last night, May 18. Unfortunately the only good service we received was from bar staff who accommodated our request to switch tables. Our waiter took our drink order and left before my husband was finished ordering drinks. I also watched him take another parties order and again he started walking away before they had finished. The waiter brought me my nonalcoholic beer and poured into a stein. My husband requested it to be renewed as most women dont like drinking from steins and to use a different glass for me. Our appetizer of burrata artichoke had no texture and was flavorless. I had the duck for dinner. Its wasnt rendered enough and the sauce was unseasoned and bland. The burger for my husband was ok. I paid my 136 bill with 2 100s and told the waiter to bring me back 50. I added a toonie to the bill tray. When I got home I noticed I had 60$ as he returned 2 20s and 2 10s that were folded up. The waiter REALLY needs to learn to listen as he lost out on his most of his tip. I NEVER leave less than 20% and often leave more but I tried to leave around 15% and his lack of attention to his customers left him with about 5%. I wish I could leave a better review but unfortunately it was not earned.
The charcuterie board was unbelievable. We had the duck pastrami, the duck confit, and a delicious cheese the name of which currently escapes me. We also had orders of oysters and duck wings which were also absolutely delicious. Great service. Waiter was very friendly and ready to make thoughtful recommendations on menu choices. It also has an upscale atmosphere that matches well with the quality of the food and helps to justify the price of the experience, which is admittedly quite high. We had a wonderful evening and I would highly recommend The Albion Rooms for special occasions if you can afford it.
Walking into this restaurant, youre immediately struck by the cozy yet elegant atmosphere. The staff welcomes you like an old friend, making you feel at ease. The menu is a culinary adventure, featuring local ingredients in inventive dishes. I was delighted by their vegetarian options, which were hearty and satisfying, defying the stereotype of vegetarian food being bland. The highlight was the dessert, a chocolate tart that was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. What sets this place apart is not just the quality of the food but the feeling of warmth and hospitality that stays with you long after youve left.
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible is a yes here Food
This restaurant has gone downhill.l as far as the menu is concerned
Superb food, especially the duck, great welcoming service, comfortable atmosphere for any gathering! Appreciate authentic Black Forest to finish the meal. Thank you Albion Rooms!
Went on a snowy evening with friends and had a great experience standouts included the chimmichurri mushrooms (seriously they are out of this world), non alcoholic cocktail and lamb pasta dish portions were huge, we shared two appetizers (mushrooms and burrata) between the 6 of us plus each got a main and we were too full for dessert we were two vegetarians and I will say a few more veg options would have been nice, it is pretty meat heavy service was great, we will definitely be back! Vegetarian options: Not very many veg options, but the ramen was delicious
Great little restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Service was very good and their cheeses and charcuterie plates were simply phenomenal. I really recommend it. Their main courses were a bit simple and the menu selection was a bit short, but we enjoyed our dinner and will definitely come back with friends.
The good was pretty tasty, although I would say that the flavours could have been better balanced. Drinks were ok
Amazing food!
never going back to this place- and let me just say, unfortunately the cocktails are amazing. They re really good. Particularly the Smokey old fashioned which comes with a cedar plank lid and releases a beautiful and aromatic plume of smoke that really brings out the whiskey. We arrived for 12:45 - we didn t know this until we got there for our res but they were only doing the brunch menu which is fine, however there wasn t anything vegetarian that wasn t very sweet or very cheese heavy. The brunch menu wasn t listed on OpenTable when we booked. I asked if they still did the regular menu and they said no. My partner and I decided to just order drinks so as not to be rude and go to another place. The server proceeded to-in the open-go to her general manager and loudly complain about us asking about the menu. She did intonate that there was plenty on the menu for us to pick from. I felt bad and I felt observed. She then loudly complained about us ordering a drink that was promoted ON THE MENU because it was too Smokey and that I had gotten the dinning room filled in smoke (which was not true, and the dining room only had three spaced out seatings.) it made me feel really uncomfortable and observed. Honestly the ambiance of the place is interesting and it would be cool to see what the regular menu is like, but I won t be returning. This was a rude, odd, confusing experience. Food/ didn t try it Cocktails 10/10 Service 1/10 Ambiance 6/10
Brought my family here for Christmas Day lunch and to say it was a disappointment is an understatement. No quality check on our food - my mom s steak was underdone. We all received our food except my husband who waited an extra 15 minutes for his grilled cheese. My father had to blatantly go up to the bar and ask for water. We were never asked if we wanted another round of drinks or if we wanted dessert. They didn t take any of the food off our bills but did put a 20% off which did not make up for the poor experience in the least. I am saddened as they have always had a high level of service.
The food was excellent, really great taste. We went for the Christmas option and it was just excellent. The desert was really good as well. The service though was a little bit slow even the place wasnt full, we ask for a bottle of wine and we received another one with a similar name but not the what we request for.
We visited as a family of 4 on Christmas Day and had a fantastic Christmas dinner. Well presented, tasty food with great service. The value of $45 per head can t be beaten. The only thing I would change would be to have two desert options, but it did not ruin the meal.
Food was ok, but tye staff are rude
I read this as albino rooms and was disappointed by all the melanin. They did not sell albion, and that was more disappointing because i have alslways wanted to try it, I live seafood. But, I was not disappointed by the coffee. The coffee was very good and dark. I dont know if albino coffee exists. Can someone google that and let me know?
What a wonderful experience, lovely server (Nik), delicious food, highly recommended!
Shameful bar staff. Having spent over $100 earlier in the evening, and having spoken to them about New Year s Eve prior too leaving for dinner elsewhere, we return on New Year s Eve and they ve shut the bar down before 12. Its New Year s Eve, the restaurant/bar had over a dozen people still in it, its New Year s Eve and the staff gleefully told me they were closing just minutes before New Year s Eve so they could go party themselves. $300 + for a hotel in Ottawa for new years and the staff could not have cared less about the guests staying here, no effort at making any accommodation for the fact its New Year s Eve and were gleeful to close the bar minutes before New Year s Eve. So, we rang in the new year with nothing but silence in our hotel room and disgust that our money is worthless to these pond scum employees who couldn t care less about the people staying in the hotel for new years.
Christmas dinner was not bad but not good either. The butternut squash soup was quite nice and flavorful and then the turkey dinner was something else the potatoes were fine as was the cranberry sauce. The stuffing pretty much looked like and tasted like the bread pudding served for dessert, none of us finished desert. The vegetables were not al dente they were hard. The turkey, who ever heard of a decent restaurant serving rolled turkey, I might expect this at a diner for $20.00 but not for $65 at what is purportedly a good restaurant. It was not a bad dinner and not a good one but the worst one that I have had in my 74 years.
This is the best breakfast experience you will have in Ottawa. Absolutely amazing spread and friendly staff there to help you get what youre craving. Absolutely top notch!
Fantastic food with incredible service and special cocktails by Nicole. The chef (Geoff) even came out to explain the food and brought special treats. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free friendly
Greatest service!! And the BEST cocktails I ve ever had. If you go you have to try the espresso martini and the violet mule!!! If you re looking for an amazing restaurant with wonderful service and tremendous food and drinks THIS is your place!
Me and my husband with three of our friends booked a table at this place for a New Years Eve dinner. There was no effort made to make it a festive dinner. Neither in decor, nor in menu or in service. For $250 for two we got 5 dishes to share that were in reality a portion for one, but to be shared for two. In the picture you can see the first course - cold cuts and cheese for 2. There was literally one raspberry and a half of a brussels sprout on the plate. There were 3 pieces of cheese, that were likely leftovers from the breakfast, by the looks of it. Another dish to share was a whole beet in the middle of the plate, also to share for two. The third dish was tasteless hand-made pasta with mushrooms, with no salt or any seasoning and no salt and pepper offered. The dish was cold and it was also to share for two. Two people were expected to eat it from one plate. The main dish, trout, was edible, but the whole place stunk of fish. The dessert was OK. We were made to wait for each dish for a very long time. Even when we asked for our bill and said we were in a hurry, we didnt get it until we went to the waiter, and even then we were made to wait for the bill. This was a very disappointing experience. Regrettably, I will not recommend it to anyone.
The service was absolutely terrible, Im pretty sure my food died on the pass under a heat lamp. The two dishes I got took almost an hour, each. I also had to ask multiple times to get new drinks. This place is worth avoiding, the staff are too busy talking to each other to provide good service. The only plus is that the place looks nice.
We came here on a whim when we were unable to be seated at the place I had originally wanted to go this turned out to be a blessing because we may not have discovered this place otherwise, and definitely want to return! The cocktails were well crafted classics. We did order 2 small plates to share they WERE delicious, but next time we will just go all out on the charcuterie! It was so much more than we expected and had so many accoutrements to the meat and cheese that were amazing! It wasn t clear from the menu that the board would be so fun, I was imagining it would just be the meat/cheese but there were many different spreads and pickled/fermented items that really made it top notch. The crostinis were delightful as well.
Came here twice and two totally different / contrasting experience. I will start with good. Albion rooms is inside, on the ground floor of Novotel. They have a common access with bar and lounge seats. They also have a separated section that can provide private party and privacy. We sat in the common bar area. We ordered oysters and crème brûlée. Both weee quite tasty and well presented and the service was attentive and swift. However, another we arrive this location and the waiter insisted that we sat at counter despite the fact the lounge seats, tables had availabilities. We inquired why, he just told us not available . Really frustrating!!! What a lousy service staff. All in all, two visits and night and day experience. No consistency. Not sure i will want to return to here another time. .
Very bad experience - food wasn t good and the service was horrible
Fist time came for brunch and I ve ordered the pancakes with bacon and latte. The latte was a little bit cold. The pancakes came 3 pieces and soaked in maple syrup. I ve took the slice in the middle and it just tasteless. The appearance says it all and I got $3 discount on my bill for the pancakes.
Service was horrible tonight. Wont go into all the details but staff need more training on knowing the product and proper tableside etiquette when serving a bottle of wine. It was incredibly hard to get served here as well. Had to walk up to the bar multiple times to ask for service on a not too busy night. Food was okay and chef was lovely enough to come out and speak to us after they made a mistake with our order. Took an hour to get our charcuterie boards to the table though and we were hungry. Wasnt really impressed. Honestly tonight was big let down for me in terms of service and dining experience and I will not return. Shame as this was once one of my favorite places to come eat. Made a fool of myself after telling guests to expect an above average dining experience. In the end I apologized to my friends about bringing them here. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair entrace through Novotel Hotel, accessible washrooms
Good option for dinner if you are staying at the hotel. A little bit pricey, but you will get tasty food. The menu is limited, and the portions tend to be small. You will indulge yourself with the good taste, but you would better not be too hungry.
We love Phil!!! He s the best server we ve had in a very long time. Very kind and welcoming, he came by our table just the perfect amount. He packed up our dessert for us to take home when we needed to leave and was very good with recommendations for drinks and food! Thank you for such a great first experience at the Albion Rooms Phil. We will come again :)
This place has seriously lost its quality. Cocktails are unoriginal and the food I had yesterday was borderline disgusting. Both my boyfriend and I have been feeling sick sick we ate there.
Was there for the drag queen diner yesterday! Had a blast
The guy at the bar had a grumpy face and service was very long
Excellent service from our server and super yummy drinks and food!!
Overrated and overpriced! Will not go again.
Had a delicious 3-egg frittata!!! Wonderfully, prepared and presented. Excellent coffee and 5-star service.
Saludos Chef René Rodriguez ! Great food and drinks !
Great night out, coktails, shared plates, cheese and charcuterie boards and mains! Great atmosphere like always!
Water in shower is not hot, only warm at 38°C
Went for dinner on a Friday night and aside from a few hotel guests, the restaurant was completely empty. We ordered the mushrooms and the Crudite to start. Mushrooms were very good, but came in a massive bowl with no serving utensils or bread/crostinis. The Crudite on the other hand left much to be desired. The raw vegetables hadn t been properly drained, turning the dish into a mess of watery raw vegetables on top of hummus and tzatziki. For our mains we ordered steak frites and the burger. Unfortunately the burger was bland, but the steak was cooked well, and the fries were excellent. The restaurant has potential, but the food is all over the place.
The Albion Rooms is a great spot to grab a drink and spend time not too far from the heart of the ByWard Market. If you like sharing plates, the charcuterie board is a great option, with a good mix of items. Weve been several times over the last five years, and have always been impressed with the quality of food and variety of drinks on offer. Service has been great, and if you happen to be served by Jeremy, youre in good hands.
Such an Ottawa gem. This place has lush, intentional food thats way above and beyond. The staff are really personable and make such a cozy atmosphere, remembering names, making recommendations, tailoring service to each individuals preferences and just really going out of their way to make you feel taken care of. Jeremy stands out for his natural ability to connect with guests and is born to serve in comfy fine dining. The ambiance is warm and the seating (especially in the bar lounge) is comfy for long periods of time. You have to check out Albion Rooms while in Ottawa!
The canapes were good. I loved the sausage rolls but the sliders werent great, they were the only thing left behind at the end of the party. Drinks were solid and well made (strong) but the service wasnt... Prompt. Id go back for another signature mocktail, blueberry and ginger beer was a flavour profile I had never tried, and I loved it.
Great cocktails, highly recommend the caesar. Server seemed alone but had a fantastic attitude and handled our large group well, whilst unfortunately having to deal with other unruly customers that night.
Great place for a beer and lunch with colleagues.
This place was great on the surface but disappointing in terms of food. The atmosphere is fantastic, with great wooden decor and friendly staff. The food on the other hand left room to be desired. The charcuterie boards are attractive but not worth the cost. The tuna sashimi was not sashimi and was instead seared on the outside. the inside was an off-grey colour instead of the usual pink or red, which gave a very strange and gritty texture. It also came with several vegetables that did not match the flavour and were very confusing. The scallops were cooked relatively well but came on a bed of completely unseasoned asparagus. Overall, great place to grab a drink and socialize, but the food made it seem like the chef had lost all understanding of flavour and texture.
This is easily one of my favourite patios and restaurants in all of Ottawa. The space is gorgeous and located in a much quieter part of downtown Ottawa. The music they play is modern and relaxing. The server we had was an absolute gem, and made our experience so amazing. We ordered the charcuterie board, and we were taken aback by how delicious and diverse it was. The best part? All the found came from Canada. The prices are also very fair for the quality of the place. I will be here all summer.
The Albion Rooms Restaurant exudes an air of class and elegance from the moment you step through its doors. With its sophisticated decor and upscale ambiance, its clear that this establishment is aimed at those seeking a refined dining experience. While the food at The Albion Rooms is undoubtedly enjoyable, the drinks take center stage. The well-crafted cocktails and extensive beverage offerings elevate the overall dining experience to new heights. In conclusion, if youre looking for a classy and upscale dining experience with exceptional drink options, The Albion Rooms Restaurant is a fantastic choice. While the prices may be steep, the quality of the food and the outstanding drink selection make it a worthwhile splurge
Great on too good to go!
Their charcuterie game is insane. I popped in for a drink and quick bite and was floored at this board. I m a pickle fan and they had pickled fiddleheads and king-oyster mushrooms alongside unique proteins too. A MUST try.
Absolutely fantastic dining experience. We started with a charcuterie board and left it to Chef Geoff to arrange it. Great decision. It was fantastic. All four meals were sublime. I cant say enough good things about the service either. Nik was amazing. Note to the ownership Nik and Geoff (chef) seem to be worth their weight in gold. If I was running a place, Id hire Nik to train all the staff. Best server Ive ever had the pleasure to meet. We will be back.
Went there for a birthday brunch ! We had a GREAT EXPERIENCE!
it s a short trip to ottawa and pick this for a surprise bday dinner. atmosphere is average a bit crowded seating space but worm and cozy. service is excellent, server have three groups and manage to explain menu and deliver our surprise drinks. food - the cut of the steak should be better if charging for $44. a lot of tendons attached not that enjoyable with this value. beef itself was tasty and perfectly cook. fries r the best with the mayo fillings the ravioli was freshly made and the sauce was right on; another choice for you. w duck wings and the salads r above average as well. a bit over priced even DT ottawa location
Pretty disappointed with the food. I ordered the Bistro Hangover and it wasnt served as stated on the menu (it was supposed to be served on toast and it wasnt. I had to ask the server for the toast). The mini poutine was frozen, undercooked fries with watery gravy and cheese at the bottom of the bowl. The bacon was cold. The arugula salad didnt have any dressing and was a definite afterthought. The duck rillet was deep fried for some reason, making it greasy and bland. There wasnt any other tables while we were there, and, based on my experience, Im not surprised. For $25, I expected better quality.
We really liked the atmosphere and ended a lovely day in Ottawa in the bar with a fine whiskey and a non-alcoholic cocktail. The service was very friendly and helpful.
Hidden food gem of the city. Fantastic food, and very reasonably priced for the quality. Even on a tough night where they were clearly understaffed due to some being out sick, the staff were very attentive and caring. Would definitely recommend!
We did the breakfast. A buffet that was a complete self serve experience, including getting my own coffee cup and cutlery. The eggs Benny were kept under a warmer lamp, they were cold, as were the sausages. For breakfast, head to Cora around the corner for table service and a hot meal.
Great memories from university years!
Great cocktails, but food was bland and oily and very small portion sizes were given.
Worst food Ive had in a long while. Hope I dont get sick!
Really nice place! Great service. Food was yummy!
The charcuterie was top notch. The brie was ripened to perfection, the smoked salmon flower was super savoury and the figs were really lovely and beautifully ripened as well.
A nice place for a get together for up to about 40 people. Parking across the street was $15. For about 3 hours.
Hang out with colleagues and some drinks we ordered a platter as snakes and it was more than delicious, good variety between cheese and meat, left everyone happy Drinks variety is good, and everyone can get something Nicely decorated and clean Party of 8
Had reservation 2 hours before a show, took 20 minutes to be looked as we watched new guests arrive and be served. In the end were still rushed to finish and ultimately missed the show.... Food was good but not worth the price especially given the poor service and lack of apology for ruining our night out.
Great food and service
Food was nothing mindblowing, but it was OK. The staff was great, though.
ok... the service was great... charcuterie was fast coming out but probably made 6 hours ago judging by how dried out the pickled veg was. The wine was bearable at 14 per glass, did not finish the second one. the fish and chips were the highlight of the dinner since the fries were the best thing on the menu. The steak was fatty and salty, the second steak with no sauce was just as bad. We have stayed at this hotel before and dined at this restaurant as well and though. The 30 minute wait at the Keg wasnt worth it... Yes it would have been. Read this, the Keg isnt the greatest but at least the food is worth the wait. Unfortunately, i would skip this place if had the chance, for a restaurant with 4 stars and only a few items on the menu $180 bucks for two people. it was a bit less than expected. I would pass given the chance again.
Great atmosphere, great service, large portions, great food!
The Marcus Brutus is a must try for ceaser and dill fans.
Recently had an evening meal and a couple beers here while staying in the adjacent hotel. Staff was friendly and provided good service. The burger and the creme brule dessert were both delicious, and I will definitely eat here again. Recommended!
Great spot for drinks or a casual dinner with incredible food Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for gluten-free options
The food was amazing and the service was exceptional.
My husband and I were overnight guests at your hotel, for our 50th Wedding Anniversary, a gift from our son and daughter and their families. The food was excellent. If I might add one comment, I have early onset Vascular Dementia and if I had not been with my husband I would have had trouble locating the dining room where we enjoyed a beautiful breakfast. So if I might, I was wondering if the signage, especially from the lobby toward the breakfast room might be enhanced. If there was a sign on the wall telling us the direction of the breakfast room, we did not see it. The bed was very comfortable, the duvet on the bed was perfect and the complimentary room snacks were greatly appreciated. We realize they were provided by our son and daughter however, they were an enjoyed bit of refreshment. Thanks You. We have your business card and will recommend your Hotel to anyone we encounter who is looking to visit and stay in Ottawa. The only drawback was the individual who chose \ to race his/her very load motorcycle or sports car up and down the street under our bedroom window at 3AM. I am afraid to say, if I had had a baseball bat with me I would have been down the elevator, out the hotel door, standing on the sidewalk the next time he passed and we would have gotten it! Im Irish, nobody messes with the Irish! My husband is Dutch, with a much more subdued personality.
Amazing food, amazing service, and amazing people! Definitely would recommend this place to anyone who hasn t been here before. All of the staff know their stuff and the new menu is so good! Big thanks to Peter and Diane for hosting our wedding. You have a great team here and we will be back again first chance we get!
Amazing quality for great prices. Hidden gem of Ottawa. 2022 edit: Still good but cocktail program has fallen off somewhat. Also miss the bison burger and kale caesar which have been replaced with beef and a garden salad. In general things seem to have been made more approachable so it doesnt have the same feel that it once did!
Got some Drinks and fries so didnt actually try any of their plates, but the atmosphere and the vibe were cool.
Great spot!
Afternoon coffee outside every day during our visit. Great service!
Excellent food ! We had brunch excellent service . We arrived at 2pm and the chef was very accommodating he was a able to prepare and amazing brunch for us!
Great meal.
We had the pleasure of dining here while in town for a conference. Our server, Nicole, was wonderful - friendly and attentive. Their charcuterie and cheese boards were a highlight. It was perfectly curated and all of the accoutrements were absolutely delicious. The asparagus and gnudi shared plates are standouts as well. Such wonderful flavours and textures. Chef Jeff is a marvel!
Well priced and amazing service, great food and drinks.
Food was 3 star (great salad and burger, ultra salty fries) and service and atmosphere is 5 star.
Cocktails are
Loved it.
I was there for a mix and mingle, had a great time! Never went before. It was warm and inviting.
Had a mixer Thursday and it was great, service, atmosphere it was all good .
Really enjoyed our visit. The gin and tonics were really lovely, and lots of interesting choices for the charcuterie (grey owl, wild boar, etc.). A relaxed atmosphere.
Things have changed. 6pm for drinks. Overworked bartenders told us he would be a while as he was alone with 10 customers plus room service. One waitress for empty dining room. Seems like a ghost of precovid times. Went to grand for pizza and a warm drink instead. Read more if you want to see what it was Dinner late Sunday - great service, tasty appetizers, well cooked rib with correctly made Yorkshire pudding. Reasonably priced well made food and accompanying drinks. Was also nice to move over to the lounge and relax over drinks after dinner. Small suggestion - portions for mains were too large, especially after apps.
I am disappointed to write a negative review - I was so looking forward to dining at the Albion Rooms for a special occasion with a group of 10 friends. We had made reservations well in advance and called the day of to confirm.. When we arrived we were seated at two separate tables and told multiple times that we could not push other (empty) tables together in order to sit together. This was contrary to what I was told at the time of my booking, not to mention there was a table for ten set up and empty (I wonder if that was our reserved table..), and the rest of the floor was largely empty for the duration of our time there. This really impacted our enjoyment of the night. Finally after an hour the waitress changed her mind and allowed us to push tables together. The other table for ten remained empty the whole night. Not only were the two waitresses unaccommodating but they were unfriendly and made us feel uncomfortable, as if we were being unreasonable asking for our group booking to be seated together as we had been assured would happen at the time of booking and upon confirming the day of over the phone. . The service was slow, the food was average (nice presentation but very salty, tiny portions of meat for the cost - the lamb linguine had barely a speck of lamb in it!) We also had one member of our party have to try and order four different drinks on the menu before finding one that was actually in stock - and the waitress seemed totally unapologetic that so many menu items were unavailable. All in all I would not recommend this restaurant unfortunately, based on service and food.
Love The Albion Rooms for dinner but this time I was here for brunch. They have a fantastic farm to table menu. Their staff are always very friendly and knowledgeable. Good beer selection. The scones are a great share plate. Highly recommend this restaurant at all times. A hidden gem inside the Novotel.
Good ambiance, slow velvetyyy vibe. Nice cocktail/canape bar attached sort of separate to the restaurant. High ceilings. Low light. Nice hotel too!
Food and service great. Special shout out to the bartender who makes some fantastic specialty drinks. Price may turn some people off but if youre looking for a bar with great drinks, great staff, and great atmosphere; this is the place for you.
Service was good, but the food quality was just average. I would say it was overpriced for the what we got - over $20 per item (fish and chips, and a burger). Good place to grab food/drinks, and the atmosphere is nice, but its just ok.
Great atmosphere, great service, delicious food. Drinks were awesome. I would go back.
Great craft cocktails (the Disco from Jalisco was excellent). Amazing french fries and very good charcuterie board.
The best place in town for a cozy cocktail and polished but relaxed vibes. Great food, great atmosphere
The Albion Rooms offers consistently top-notch food and service, steps from the Rideau Centre, parking, and the LRT. I especially like how there are two distinct sections, one more intimate, the other great for getting together with friends. Pre-Covid staff are returning, which says a lot about how much they enjoy working there. The Albion Rooms feels more like a community gastro pub than a generic hotel pub and tends to attract a local clientele - with good reason. Well done!
Excellent dinner! Great service, great food. The Tartare exceeded my expectations. Well done.
Good experience
When youre gluten and lactose intolerant and low fodmap... and the server and chef take the time to accommodate; and then when the resulting meal is to die for, all you can say is thank you, but with your whole heart. Thank you for a wonderful meal. We will return!!
Great food!! Great staff! Reasonably priced! Trifecta.
Thank you! This place is a gift to the city. The staff are exceptional, the food is heavenly every single time, and the whole atmosphere is perfect. This is my favourite place ever!
Service was friendly and fast house cab franc was great and carpaccio was good too
This is such a fun space. I love the two sides, 1 side a bar or you can still grab some snacks, The other dining room but has an amazing feel of comfort and class, Was closed down for sometime during 2021 very happy to see it back hopefully it stays this way. Gotta try the charcuterie board!
Expensive n snotty staff.
My husband and I went here for dinner tonight. The food is pretty good, but service was on the slow side... Especially considering there was only one other table at the time. We started with the octopus small plate, which had a nice flavour to it. We both got the elk dishes, the loin and the burger. The burger was nothing extraordinary, but a solid burger. The loin was alright. We opted for two desserts, the pumpkin cake with espresso cream and choux pastry. The pumpkin was had the flavour profile of a pumpkin pie. I found the pumpkin seeds on top texturally off putting in contrast to the rest of the dessert. The choux was amazing. Would definitely recommend it.
Great and innovative cocktail program!
Charcuterie, cheese and cocktails are amazing!
Had a great evening with some friends for a birthday celebration. We ordered a few charcuterie boards and one order of fish and chips to share for a few who were extra hungry. The ambiance is wonderful, the cheeses were delicious and they gave us tons of crostini to go along side. The fish & chips were also done very well. I did unfortunately have to remove a star because it was very obvious our server did not like our group. She never introduced herself or gave her name, and would run away quickly after taking one order without asking anyone else if they needed anything. She seemed annoyed every time she came over, and I thought she might have just been busy but the restaurant wasnt very full. I am also a server so I generally have quite a bit of patience, we did our best to be kind and respectful in order to hopefully have her warm up a bit, but it was very clear she did NOT want to be serving us. I dont know if its because we had a (sleeping) baby with us or because we have tattoos and dont look like the typical customer they receive, but her behaviour was really obvious. We ended up just getting some shots at the end from the bartender to avoid bothering her anymore and he was wonderful!!! All of the other staff were great and welcoming. Overall, an enjoyable experience but I do wish we werent judged so much!
Cozy spot, delicious food (oh, the bacon grilled cheese) and excellent service (especially Kirsten, phenomenal server)
Very unique menu and a great drink selection. Calm and pleasant atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Perfectly crafted cocktail to our needs and so amazing. Talented mixologist
Friendly staff and great service. They are Covid conscious and take care to wear masks, offer hand sanitizer, wipe down tables, etc. Great atmosphere during a summer evening.
Good wine and service.
Room was clean and food was good.
Great food and service. Pleasantly surprised.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Cant get better.
Great location, amazing atmosphere. The food was great & the service was super quick & friendly. We love to go for their charcuterie board!
