One of the bouncers made my girlfriend extremely uncomfortable. Asked her out, she rejected him, forced himself upon her not taking no for an answer until I stepped in. Hopefully this review is read and disciplinary action is taken against that worker, Trent.

I had a terrible experience with the bouncers at this restaurant. Despite wearing the same cropped tank top as my female friends, I was singled out and forced to cover up with a jacket. Later, one of the bouncers approached me inside, speaking in a homophobic and rude manner, demanding I put the jacket back on or be kicked out. This ruined my friends birthday and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I won t be returning.

Love their Thursday burger deal! Good food and good service.

I stopped in for taco Tuesday and was very happy with my meal. I was, however, surprised that their drink card did not have a section for non alcoholic drinks. I think that normalizing sobriety is really important, and not taking advantage of all the great non alcoholic wines, beers and mocktails out there means you are missing out on an important market. Rather than selling me a nice na wine, you gave me a drink for free.

Popped in for a quick bite, something other than just fried pub grub. Service was slow and they didnt have the wine nor the hummus we ordered. We did have the Tuna Crudo... It was not fresh, no one queried when we left half. The Greek salad was passable but how can you screw that up? Seems to be a meeting spot for locals before they go somewhere decent.

Drinks were way overpriced.

I DO recommend this cozy restaurant. In this restaurant we met the very responsible, committed and sympathetic associate Sarah, and her manager Matt who provided us an amazing and lovely night. The steak was remarkably delicious and served together with an iced cold draft beer! Besides the very well cooked onions and vegetables. My wife, in turn, loved so much the taste of the Atlantic salmon surrounded by special ingredients accompanying it. The amazing selection of melodies from the 80s invited us to a romantic and lovely night. All in all I DO recommend it and I guarantee you will not have any frustration at all. We came in there for the first visit today, and we shall return tomorrow, for our last day in Ottawa, in respect first the remarkable service provided. We are trying to enjoy buskers on Elgin and this place is blasting music to the zero humans on their patio with the speakers facing out, so in the direction of the band. Unnecessarily loud and they could just wait until the band is done. Many patrons at Giulia are annoyed as well. Way to guarantee none of those folks or anyone trying to enjoy the band ever visit your establishment.

Pleasantly surprised to discover Taco Tuesday ! Good tacos, great price and comfortable space!

This place was recommended to us by a nearby hotel employee and we are glad we came because the food and atmosphere was great!!

Service was good, atmosphere was very nice, food was terrible. At a time when weather was perfect and every resto/patio was crowded, the waverly had less than 10 guests. That should have been our tip off. The food was very clearly Costco grade and much of what we were served had been microwaved to reheat. Barely palatable. Such a shame for an excellent located. This place, if it had a significantly better kitchen, should be a destination. Unlimited potential but epically failing.

It was a great experience at the Waverley! The food was amazing, and me and my friend had the Falling for Waverley cocktail, which was amazing! We had an Indian guy serving us, forgot the name, but he was great super kind and it was a quick service! Will definitely be coming back here!

Although we only stopped by for drinks, the service we received was exceptional. Our server, Sarthak, was incredibly helpful and attentive. He made sure our drinks were perfect and checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything else. Well definitely be coming back, and next time, we plan to try the food as well.

The plan was to go visit a bunch of bars on Elgin , ended up staying at the waverly all night , amazing atmosphere , bartenders , dj , bouncers and the manager were absolutely amazing! Thank you for an amazing night !! 5 stars ! Highly recommend!!

Taco Tuesday. They were adequate and the five dollar beer was nice. Atmosphere and location good with a nice outdoor area. Bill time was a bit of a disaster. Was charged $ 73 for three meals not the two we had. The server apologized and cashier said it would be corrected to $53. The machine ran out of paper so no receipt which later turned into a problem. My credit card bill came later in the month and I was charged $ 136 ! So instead of correcting their error they compounded it. I contacted Waverly but did not get a lot of understanding nor resolution. I had to advise my credit card company I was disputing the charge and two months later no resolution. My Taco Tuesday experience turned into a payment fiasco.

One complaint I had was I go to the washroom to get some toilet paper for my nose and there was no way I could get one tissue of paper. Someone put a roll that was so big it didn t turn.

Me and my girlfriend really loved the place. the food was good, the vibe was great and the server wasn t annoying lol I 100% recommend this restaurant. we ll definitely come back

It is a great place to be with friends. The food was great and the service was friendly. We were not rushed to eat or anything. Definitely will be back.

Called to inquire about a missing purse. The bartender on duty at 12:30am on Friday, Feb 10, 2024 repeatedly hung up the phone and left it on the bar for me to listen to the background noise after telling me to call back in 5 minutes. If this is how they treat clients then I can comfortably say I will not be returning, and calling back tomorrow to speak with someone professional.

I ve gone to dinner at this place twice now, and have been disappointed and will not be coming back unfortunately. The first time I went my server was pretty friendly, but made myself and my partner feel a bit rushed. He was by himself as far as I could tell but there weren t many tables, so I m not sure what the reason behind it was. I ordered the fish tacos and received chicken instead. The server apologized, and brought the fish tacos instead which I appreciated however the tacos themselves had almost no sauce, were very dry and bland. The fish was also dry itself. We paid, tipped and left. The second time we went during Super Bowl. It was not busy despite that - a few people at the bar, and one table other than myself and my partner. Our server was great, she was friendly and accommodating - absolutely nothing wrong on her end. The issue I had was again, with the food. I ordered the balsamic glazed salmon, and asked for extra glaze since I was worried it might be dry again. I got a very bland fish with a few drizzles of sauce on top. The roasted vegetables that came with tasted as if someone washed them and threw them in the oven then onto the plate with no seasoning. The potatoes were also bland. I asked for a vinaigrette and it did not help. Our server brought me a second dish; the mushroom ravioli. It was also plain, and tasted like a microwave dinner pasta. Super disappointing. I ate a few bites and decided to just end the meal there because I didn t want to ask the server for another dish. I offered to pay for both dishes but she said the first one was on the house, which was not necessary but appreciated. Overall, pretty good service and an alright atmosphere but the food is terrible. Would not recommend unless you re going for some drinks and good company.

We had reservations for 7 people at seven. When we got there we were told there was no reservation but for us not to worry they would clean off a table . The service was second to none. I was just blown away by how professional everyone is. The food was my birthday wrapped in Christmas. Make sure to check out this gem of a place.

Run as far and fast as you can. My partner and I went for the New Years event last night and it was quite an infuriating experience. Our waiter refused to serve us the dessert that we paid for in the package. Free items were also pushed onto our table, which we were forced to pay for at the end. Not to mention the waiter bought himself a shot on us. All in all not impressed, I don t think anyone would be after their bill magically doubled in price.

I went here last Tuesday for the first time. I had the fish tacos and I was pleasantly surprised by the size and quality of them. The bartender Matt was a very good conversationalist and did a good job making me feel welcome. He also mixed a mean cocktail. I would definitely recommend this place to others and I plan on returning in the near future.

Hosted a big 50th birthday party! It was wonderful, everyone had a great time. The staff were welcoming and warm! Organizing a big event was made very easy and everything was as expected. Kid-friendliness: Kids loved the food and dessert!

I love the Waverly! My go to place for an older crowd (25+) the service is always great, theyre polite and friendly and super helpful! Its clean, the music is great and the drinks are good! Unfortunately the last time I was here my friends had to wait 30 mins behind other people even though we had a table and a reso (they were late to the reso). The reason was capacity but so many people left and they were still waiting in line kind of disappointed with the significantly younger people being allowed to go in ahead of us (just wish I knew why-then I wouldnt be a Karen about it) Had better times here, and this could have been a 5 star moment. Still had decent time tho.

100%, go for Tuesday taco nights. Their Fish tacos are very good and the sweet potato fries hit the spot for me. Generous portion for 12$. Our server was extremely nice and helpful as well.

Not only is the food and drink selection here of great quality and value, but the exceptional service we received was truly outstanding. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our experience was enjoyable, making us feel welcomed and valued. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely visit again to enjoy the amazing food, cocktails, and service.

We decided to meet our friend for dinner Thursday night since she is in town for the night. We have the Nashville sandwiches and our friend the chicken burger. We had salad instead of fries. It was delicious. We were surprised because it was Thursday and they were in special for $9.95 amazing deals for sure. Our server Sarah was also super nice and so it was the atmosphere of the place too I heard that tacos here are also very good so I will come back for the Taco Tuesday special. So there you have it: great food, prices and place at Weaverly. Try it out you won t regret it.

This place offers a nice ambiance. Really worth stopping in to get a plate or enjoy the Ottawa nightlife. Look out for Marquise, this guy s exceptionally awesome.

Over priced and underwhelming. The food is over sauced and underseasoned with poor presentation. The fries tasted like they were reheated. We ordered a 65$ bottle of wine and we were not asked to taste it in advance of pouring and we had the fill our glasses our selves. No ground pepper? I sent my plate back and they kindly removed it from our bill.

I went in for Taco Tuesday and had an amazing dinner with my boyfriend. Our server, Emilie, was very sweet and prompt, when i asked for extra condiments she brought them right away. The food and drinks were very good, will definitely return!!

The tacos were delicious along with the hand cut fries. Next we try Thursday Burger Special, which I am told are also very tasty.

One of the best kept secrets on Elgin street. The food is incredible, the environment is comfortable, clean and a little bit upscale. The service are kind, friendly and simply adorable people. It s never busy in here but it really should be, the food is underpriced for the quality. I might regret posting this since I don t mind coming in here and having my quiet luxury lol

Have gone out here a couple times with friends. The atmosphere is fun and lively. The DJ they have is always good and keeps the good vibes going. As well, no cover which is always a plus. We have a great time when we re inside and drinks are served quickly even when it is super busy! My only negative comment is their dress code that they apparently check at the door. Twice I ve been told that I can t wear the shoes or the small over the shoulder bag. But both times have still been let in. Inside people were wearing the exact thing I was told wasn t permitted. Not quite sure what this dress code is as it isn t related to the quality of attire (people wearing baseball caps, running shoes, t-shirts, etc.). Not even a bad thing that happens, just always weird when they do stop you at the door for this reason

The Waverley hosted my work Christmas party. Super easy, everyone had a good time and the food was great.

I was in charge of booking my company s holiday dinner/party this year, my first time doing so, and with relatively short notice. The team at The Waverley was very accommodating, they worked with me to make sure we stayed within budget, and the menu was lovely. The food was delicious by all accounts, my meal was great and when I checked in with my colleagues and their guests, they were also very complimentary - chicken, salmon, steak, all cooked perfectly. The burrata salad appetizer was stellar and those who ordered the shrimp or caesar also said it was great. I had a lofty assignment and everyone at The Waverley made sure the whole night went smoothly - including a custom welcome sign, complimentary wine for a colleague who was having a birthday, credits for some last minute illness cancellations, and overall just a really seamless experience. I would not hesitate to return, for a party, for a meal, or even just a drink. Everything was beyond expectations.

This was an accidental dinner outing that turned out quite well. We were again, searching for something that was open on Christmas week and found Waverley. There was some confusion over seating availability due to covid19 protocols which was unfortunate but the atmosphere was a fairly relaxed lounge energy. Reasonable prices for fairly well presented and prepared food that was slightly elevated bub fair. All in all, worth a trip! *Gluten-free options available

I went Wednesday night with my partner and had an amazing time!!! Our server Anne was the sweetest she recommended the blue and black burger and it was great! Our first big night out for sometime (thanks Covid) and she made the experience so fun! Came for the food stayed for the service. 10/10

Visited for dinner with a friend for the first time and I am definitely coming back! I got the steak with Sweet potato fries and it was delicious. Loved the ambience and the Interiors. Service was great too, I don t remember the name of our server but she checked in with us often.

I 100% recommend anyone try the Waverly! Two weeks ago I had had a disappointing situation happen and I reached out to the Waverly out of frustration. I immediately had a staff member trying to figure out what had gone wrong and really listen to my concerns. I know so many people who would blow off a complaint or pretend that it didn t happen. I was heard and acknowledge and I can appreciate a business that is willing to own up to their mistakes and make it right. After emailing back and forth I was asked if I d be willing to return and have a more positive experience. Upon returning I was worried it would be awkward and uncomfortable with staff because of my review but the staff was warm and welcoming and made me and my party feel like they genuinely wanted us there. I had a wonderful second experience and truly believe my first experience was a a fluke. Everyone has bad night but a business that acknowledges those faults and rights them is a business I will stand behind. I highly suggest the next time you want to try somewhere knew you consider the Waverly!

The cocktail are super nice, and the staff too! For the food it was well priced and well portioned, but what got me the most excited was actually the mayonnaise and the coleslaw! Will comeback.

Decent overall atmosphere and service. Good acoustics is the defining factor for this establishment. Ideal spot to have group gatherings or one-on-one conversations. May want to make reservations ahead of time for larger groups. Restaurant layout can use some update. Lighting can be also improved. Food was good. Typical bar food that can use some improvement (maybe I need to try more). Generally one of the good eating spots in Ottawa. Cocktail bar. Bar seems to have extensive collection of options. I had old fashioned drink. It was good.

Have been here twice before, which were better times. Individual attending us was aggressive in trying to push us to buy drinks. DJ played songs for their entirety, instead of chopping them up in length. The $10 doubles was a decent deal.

Excellent service. Food was well presented and excellent price. Was there for Mother s Day diner with family and granddaughter. Always said it is the cook that makes it extremely good. Hats off to the chief. I would highly recommend. Will be going back with friends again for diner.

I am a happy repeat customer of the Waverley! The staff is so welcoming and personable - particularly Marquise, who has served me the last few times that I have visited and who provides incredible service . The food is delicious, the drinks are awesome...I have nothing but positive things to say about the restaurant! Its a great place to eat in the summer because their outdoor patio is spacious, and in the winter because the restaurant is cozy and quaint.

It s an okay pub place, it s by no means anything special tho. The waiter me and my family had I don t know to me seemed like he was nervous or something. He just seemed a little off at least again to me. Try it if theirs no where else to go or everywhere else is busy, but by all means don t be expected to be blown away.

Two stars is generous. The beer selection is sad. The food is overpriced and sad. The squid was cold and the sweetest thing Ive ever eaten and thats not a good thing. The service was friendly. But like yeah... the menu really needs work.

Excellent Mediterranean salad. A real Burger with real vegetables. Take advantage of it.

The bouncer didn t let my two friends (F21 and F21) and I (F23) in because we were under 25 years old. Meanwhile, the rest of our friends (all under 25) were in. I also am not a common law expert but that doesn t sound legal.

Amazing staff. Good place to chill they even have an outside patio to relax if you go over the weekend and want to take a break from the crowd inside.

The Nashville sandwich ruled and our server Molly was wonderful.

Had a pretty good experience. Took a bit for a waiter to serve us, but one of them noticed and apologized and offered us a free round of drinks for the two of us. Completely changed our night and turned our evening into a great one!

They accommodated a large party with no notice. The service was excellent and the food was very good. The staff was friendly and given the fact they were faced with a large quantity of orders at the same time they accommodated our needs, served the tables at the same time and created a wonderful experience. Good work by all the staff!

Meh. I had the grilled chicken, and this reminded me to never order chicken from a restaurant again. Overcooked and dry. Service was ok, friendly but nothing special. We waited for our first drinks for over 10 minutes. The manager (man who looked to be in charge) was unobservant, and truly lacked the skills typically exhibited by people in leadership positions. He looked at our table (and my empty drink glass) at least 3 times before asking if we needed anything. I ordered white wine which tasted as though it had been uncorked 3 months earlier. Overall.. whatevs.

The steak was tough, undercooked, under seasoned, and underwhelming. Took a while for drink refills. Fries were okay though. I liked the Jimi Hendrix picture on the wall.

Mostly giving this place a two star because of the DJ, he was very nice, played some good music and was open to requests. Service was not great. We made a reservation a week in advance, calling twice (1st to make a reservation for 6, 2nd to add an extra person). When we showed up they had no table for us and told us there was no reservation under our name despite all those calls. We had to show them our call log to show that we did in fact make reservations. Half of us were able to be seated, the other half had to sit at the bar for more than an hour before getting the table beside our group. We also asked for 9 tequila shots and the bartender did not ask which tequila we wanted, and just went ahead and gave us the most expensive ones (around 15$ each) which we only found out once we received the bill... Overall experience was bad, they did apologize but did nothing to accommodate or make up for their mistake. There are other places on Elgin that care more about their business.

When we first arrived at the Waverley on Elgin, we were greeted by a lovely man in a button down shirt he was wearing a mask, but I could tell by his eyes and enthusiasm that he was smiling under there. I d phoned ahead to request a bottle of prosecco be chilled waiting on the table - I was pleased to see that this had been done nicely. The table was beautifully set and well distanced from other diners. The restaurant has taken great care in having plexi glass set up between some of the booths to keep everyone safe. Our server, Cameron, the same friendly face that greeted us at the door, was very knowledgeable about all the menus and kindly guided me to the Black and Blue Burger which was awesome! Someone else at the table had the steak and was VERY pleased! My veggie friendly dining companion found a tasty dish as well - bonus! Everything that night was SPOT ON! My only disappointment, if I was searching for one would have been the overall menu. Although the food was good, the drinks delightful and the service PERFECTION, I expected the menu to have a little more variety, a little more class. The room is opulent, the music is BANGIN but the menu is very much something you would see in a pub .Burgers and wings. We will most definitely be back for cocktails, when we do, I hope to see new menu items that better compliment the décor and fantastic staff!

Although the outdoor seating was very comfortable, the experience itself left me and my partner very unimpressed. We got 3 drinks including a whiskey sour, a margarita and an old fashioned. The whiskey sour was decent but the margarita and old fashioned were literally the worst I ve ever had. The old fashioned was so sweet that after one sip it made my stomach turn and my partner put nearly half a cup of water in it for it to become drinkable. The food was okay but for the expense and the small menu, I would of expected much more. This was my first and last time at the Waverley.

Nice cocktails but manager asked me if I was bored with life when I mentioned them having montreal Canadiens logos on Sens Mile. I laughed harder than him though. Wont go back. Youre in Ottawa bud.

If i were judging this place solely based off its food, id give it a one star, but the people were super nice, and the drinks were pretty good. The patio was comfortable, and the service was on point. If i were just coming here for drinks, it would be a 5/5

Went here last weekend with my wife and I will definitely be returning. The entire experience was great, but the food really stole the show. We had calamari and a burrata caprese salad to start. Salad was fresh and calamari crispy. Next was their Wave burger which was juicy with nice toppings and very nice wedge salad. Service was great and drinks were good but even they werent the food alone gets 5 stars.

Quite expensive for the offering. We got the burgers and they were good, but ultimately just a burger, and for $20 I wasnt really sure...why it was so expensive. The atmosphere on the patio was nice but again, not quite worth the price tag. Server was very friendly and helpful.

Would most definitely go again, the food was delicious my partner and I are obsessed with the hummus dip! Also the staff was extremely friendly and catered to all of our dinning needs!

Our server Kelly was nothing but fabulous in serving my girlfriend, friends and I. After being away from The Waverley since the pandemic, coming back has been definitely a memorable one. Especially since our friends haven t come here before. Will definitely be coming back again!

Great service with a smile, and the Moscow mules have the best ginger beer. Recommended for anyone looking to see what Elgin Street has to offer!

Our server ( bartender) was awesome...wanted our service dogs in with welcoming arms. The balsamic salmon with grilled rice was amazing...highly recommended

Was super fun vibe, the music was super fun , crowd was respectful all the servers and bartenders were very very accommodating. P.S always call to make reservations for a table on weekends

Waitress was very sweet, outdoor venue was nice yet the appetizer which were 50% off were a right off. Wings were dry, nachos toppings were poorly garnished and dont you do dare get me started on the coconut shrimps.

Great food, servers are so friendly and accommodating to dietary needs. Had cauliflower bites, so tasty honestly better then pure kitchen and that s saying a lot!! Outdoor patio is so cute and comfortable definitely will be back!

I dont like posting bad reviews but this place did not impress. - The coconut shrimps were a total disaster. It was expensive and you only got like 4 shrimp that looked like they came from a bag at Costco. - The burger was also very disappointing. I would not go back. The food needs to improve at this place.

Bad service, awful drinks

Where to begin. It was my husband and I s first time trying this place due to its positive rating but boy was that a mistake. We ordered nachos, coconut shrimp, and 2 burgers. 1) The nachos for 2 was SUCH a small portion and they were hella cheap on the toppings. 2) The coconut shrimps portion was PATHETIC for the price. Overall their portions are very very cheap. 3) Our burgers were average at best and I couldn t finish mine because it was burnt. I wanted too, I do not like wasting food but the burnt taste was just so bitter and over powering. 4) Terrible service. The employees are nice, but they are terribly under staffed to the point that they are running around like chickens with their heads cut off 5) We got there at the exact same time as another couple, and we finished our appetizers and entire meals before the poor folks even got a meal at all...... Would not recommend this place! Lots of improvement that needs to be made!
