Capitol Burger takes inspiration from the Capitol Theatre which stood at the corner of Bank & Queen from 1920 to 1970. Its stage hosted the likes of Nat King Cole, The Who and Jimi Hendrix. Capitol Burger serves the tastiest hand-formed burgers you’ll find downtown. French fries are hand cut and has house-made sauces. If you’re not in the mood for burgers, try a Nashville fried chicken sandwich, or stop by for some ribs and locally smoked brisket.

Decent spot for lunch at QSF! I really enjoyed the Nashville hot chicken sando. Chicken was crispy but wasn’t too spicy. Wait time is a little longer during lunch rush. My friend got the poutine - the burgers and sandwiches are definitely better. The gravy wasn’t very rich/flavorful.
Met the two friendliest servers in the city at Capitol Burger! Had the bacon cheeseburger, which was well seasoned, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Fries were nice and crisp, and their house made mayo is to die for! Sorry, no pictures, this treat didn't last!
Had lunch here a few times and it's terrific! The burger patties are nice and thin which makes the burger super satisfying, hitting that craving without leaving you feeling overly heavy or greasy when you finish it. The fries are also really solid! Service is always friendly and they seem to make it all to order which is delicious but be aware that if you need to grab something super quick and run back to your desk it may not be the best choice. Its located in the food hall which can get busy at peak lunch time (noon) but by 1pm its really quiet so if you can take a later lunch I would highly recommend.
Situated in the bustling Queen St Fare food court, Capitol Burger beckoned me during a busy lunch hour. I decided to go for the "sando combo," as I'm always on the lookout for a hearty, satisfying meal. The coleslaw, which accompanied the meal, was decent, but it didn't particularly stand out. The real star of the show was the chicken. It had a nice, zesty kick that awakened my taste buds and made the meal quite enjoyable. However, there was a minor hiccup. The bun seemed to have gotten a bit too involved during the burger-making process. It was covered with sauce, which left it slightly soggy. A drier bun would have elevated the experience. On the bright side, the fries that accompanied the combo were the real winners. Crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned, they were the highlight of the meal, delivering on the promise of deliciousness. While Capitol Burger didn't quite hit the mark on all fronts, it's a decent spot for a quick, no-fuss bite, especially if you're a fan of fries. If they could perfect the balance of sauciness on their buns, this place has the potential to be a go-to for burger enthusiasts in the area.
I have come here several times for lunch, where they make a good veggie burger. On my latest visit, however, the person working in the front misheard my order and gave me a meat burger. (Note: I am not angry about this, as it was pretty busy and loud). I only realized the mistake after taking a couple of bites, but not wanting to return a partially eaten meal, I decided to finish it. Unfortunately, I did not like it, as the taste did not sit well with me. While I will likely come back to eat the veggie burger, I will not order one with a meat patty.
Can’t complain! Super crispy chicken coating, a slightly sweet slaw and they were able to sub the sweet pickles for dill which I was thrilled about. The price is pretty fair for how hefty the final product is and it was prepared in a reasonable amount of time aka I ordered on the way there and it was ready when I got there. The staff were friendly when I arrived to pick it up. Overall good experience. I would recommend getting spicier than “hot” as I literally could not detect any spice and this was their level 3 out of 5 for spiciness.
I'm torn over this one... The staff is friendly enough, but I'm confounded by their system. I waited well over 10 minutes for just a burger. Staff running back and forth, one person calling orders and nobody responding, they also have a ticket printer, so it seems redundant. The burger. I watched as the chef fried all of the 1/2 inch burger patties for over five minutes... on one side! Goodbye flavour. Well, it was okay, saved from complete disaster by a good bun, tasty sauce and fresh toppings. Won't be back, unless it's to try the hot dog. Note that there's no grease on the bag. It's flush against the burger and no juices come from the burger on my 10 minute walk back to work.
I was pleasantly surprised by how good the veggie burger was! I thought it would be a bean-based patty but instead it was a very juicy, meat-imitation patty. The service was fast and friendly. I went at a very busy time (the lunch rush) and didn’t have to wait long at all. The fries were also good.
Well when the burger came it was so much smaller then the pictures showed. I was a bit disappointed by the fact I paid 27 bucks for this meal. The burger could have been bigger and matched the price. Thanks for the experience but I dont think Ill be back here again.

Poutine was pretty bad. Fries were bad, gravy was bland, and it wasnt served hot. QSF is hanging on by a thread all around.
Value here has declined significantly $20 for a happy meal amount of chicken
Food is always amazing! I get the burger east coast and it s perfect every time. Staff are always friendly and service is quick. Definitely a go to in Downtown Ottawa.

Not inedible, but my veggie burger must have been one of the saddest burgers Ive had. The patty was not grilled properly, was soft and soggy. West coast toppings were sad like Macdonalds pickles and sauce. Fries were soggy and greasy. Disappointed in general as it is in an upscale food hall.

very disappointing taste and service. waited a while in line, once I was up next the girl working the cash went and put burgers on the grill wit her bare hands and then proceeded to take my order. saw her do this a few more times while waiting.did not wash her hands on anything. as for my food, the chicken strips were 90% batter and like 10% chicken. very disappointed in the taste honestly and I wouldnt try again.
Very tasty and crispy fried chicken sandwich. A good portion of chicken as well. Recommended. Crinkle cut fries for those who may have a preference. Vegetarian options: They offer a veggie burger option. Dietary restrictions: Non meat options available. Vegan sauces available. Kid-friendliness: The menu is kid friendly if they like burger fries and chicken tenders.

Not bad for 10$! The chicken sandwich was really good, and the classic burger was nice.
Disappointing. There was 3 staff working and I noticed only 2 customers in line so I figured I wouldnt need to wait very long. 20 minutes later, line hasnt moved, they havent taken any new orders. I saw at least 3 other customers wait in line, get fed up and leave due to the long wait. This wasnt worth it. UPDATE: came back 3 months later. Burger + fries + can of coke cost $18. First and last time. Ordered cheeseburger and fries. Asked for plain burger (just the cheese on it). They put my patties on wrong bun which had sauce. The guy picked up the patties and put on plain bun and handed me my order. But it had touched the sauce. I asked if there was mustard in their sauce, and he said yes. I m allergic to mustard so they made me new patties. Finally get back upstairs to my office to eat. Burger wasn t cooked enough, couldn t eat it. And by this time, my fries were cold (fries were made with the original patties). So disappointing, never again.

I work in 50 OConnor so Ive had my fair share of Capitol burgers. Theyre fab, but the chicken burgers are out of this world! Ive missed them so much! Well worth it. I feel like todays was the best Ive ever had. Maybe Ive been lonesome for for a good chicken burger but yummy yummers.
If you want good burgers this is the place. I guarantee it. Fresh, juicy, sauces are on the point. Wont disappoint.
I didnt expect to get one of the best burgers in the city when I ordered, but thats what I got. When in the area of Queen street and OConnor and I need a snack, definitely going here for One Tasty Burger!

This could have been a good review but here we are. After having had the veggie burger a few times and enjoying it, one of the staff said that the vegan sauce wasnt vegan and was made with mayo. Apparently the menu hadnt been corrected. Just a huge disappointment. Hope it gets fixed.

Their Bacon Project is a revelation. This is what a burger should taste like. Easily one of the best burgers Ive EVER had. Their fries are good (not great) but the burger makes up for it.

I was so excited when they first announced Capitol Burger and what an unfortunate ride it has been... I have had some bad experiences already and today was that much worse. I ordered my food, then a group of people came in behind me and ordered food then as they got a lot of orders at one half of their staff decided it was break time. I waited 15 minutes then was told they lost my order and I would have to wait another 15 minutes!! Rest assured I work in the building and would much rather go to any other cafeteria than the one in my own building. I will not be returning!

The guy working, Connor, what a legend. Anytime my co-workers are downtown and craving a burger, they go here. I had never been, I went, I saw, I ate, Ill be back. Connors customer service is top notch.
Had pretty much everything on their menu and all is good. Fresh fries, fresh beef, fried chicken tasty! They have. The beyond meat burger for the vegetarian option and Im super happy with that. Poutine has a bit too much sauce, but I only had it once.
Just okay. Pretty underwhelming compared to the other choices out there. I expected more options and found the portioning off.
Its a damn shame because this could have easily been a 5 star review. The food and the staff are top notch but the execution is amateur at best. Ive visited Capitol Burger 5 times since Queen St Fare opened a relatively short time ago. Two of those times the chicken burger was unavailable, one time the milkshakes were unavailable and just now I had to cancel my order because the card machine was unavailable. Once or twice could be forgiven as honest mistakes but 4/5 is a pattern that has now indicated to me there is no point to visit Capitol Burger because I wont be able to complete my order off their already small menu.

I checked out Capital Burger a couple of days ago and Im craving it again more than anything! I love a good burger and this exceeded my expectations. The meat was grilled and seasoned as it should and the fries were crisp and golden. Ill be going again soon without a doubt!
Located in the new Queen Street Fare food court Capital burger is dishing up fantastic hot fresh locally sourced beef burgers. Fresh not wilty topping and yummy buns. The veggie burger was super delicious and I would recommend it to even non-vegetarian friends except the beef burgers are so good! Didn t try the hand cut fries or the hot dogs which also looked mouth watering great so will definitely be headed back to this burger joint in the near future. Add in that the QSF is licensed and you can grab a pint to go with the burger? Fantastic!
I thoroughly enjoyed my burger tonight. I ordered a cheese burger & it was one of the nicest, simplest & enjoyable cheese burgers I have had in a long whole. It was essentially how I think a burger should taste. Well done Capitol Burger. Let down by poor service, otherwise it would ve been a 5 star banger. Great spot, highly recommend.

The good: Very tasty fresh burger and fries. Very well cooked. Friendly service. The bad: The price you see for a burger is just for the burger, they dont offer combo with fries and drink, everything charged separately. For drinks they dont offer any Coke or Pepsi products, just expensive bottled root beer, ginger beer, and sparkling water. For a cheeseburger, small fries, and bottle of ginger beer, the price was between $16 - $17.

Very friendly counter staff and kitchen staff definitely on the ball. The cheese burger was basic but nicely cooked and very tasty. No silly foam packaging, everything was wrapped in paper. The fries were delicious.
Hands down my favorite burger in Ottawa. Simple burger options, delicious patties and fresh toppings, also an in house sauce which is delicious. Some of the nicest staff Ive ever talked to. Cant recommend this place enough!
I ordered a chicken burger, small poutine, and coke roughly $21 I think over priced. The chicken burger was basically way to breaded only half way through did I taste the chicken, maybe it was just the chicken I got. The burger bun however was really good. The poutine was amazing the gravy was one of the best. Staff were really nice.
Everything from the meat to the bun combines perfectly to create an amazing smashed burger! The fries are cooked to perfection.
All I have to say: Try the spicy chicken burger, very different and very tasteful. Very good seasoning on the fries, sometimes a bit on the over cook side.

The burger is very fresh and really tasty! The fries taste really good too :) Clear recommendation for anyone who likes to eat burgers! Theres also a vegetarian burger with Beyond Meat patties.
Should call it Capitol Punishment Burger. Have eaten here a few times. Burgers are insufficiently seared and seasoned. Pretty tasteless. Fries are mediocre, slightly crisp exterior but generally floppy and soggy. Way overpriced for what you get. Chicken burger is a slightly better bet.
Had a burger and shake and while it was good I was expecting more for the price. I likely wont go back unless the price lowers or they at least throw in fries into the mix.
