Fries where cold, buggers where good but not exceptional. Maybe my expectations where too high.

Can t give one star because food is really good. I don t write reviews on the first visit to any restaurant especially in my town. I m working in the area for 25 years and now living there for five years. Works was nice addition to the Manor Park neighbourhood when was opened. My experience is that inside restaurant didn t have any issues with the service but outside on patio after third negligence of the staff I had it enough. First time I was waiting 25 minutes seated outside to get the waiter who forgot me there. She came and apologized that she forgot and I didn t fuss about it. After ordering and paying my bill she gave me voucher for free burger with sides of any choice for inconvenience. Was very nice gesture and I appreciate it. I came next week again to enjoy the Blue Moon,great sweet potato fries and onion rings together with my free burger. Again I was seated by another waiter. Patio had only four table occupied including me and there was three waiters serving the patio. After 20 minutes I was approached by young waiter girl with the question Am I taking care of . After telling her that I was waiting 20 minutes and nobody approach me she took order and did apologize. I didn t leave any tip on the bill for service although I gave cash the tip to the waitress who stepped in and served me. Third time after I order the beer for my girl and myself after 20 minutes waiting I left patio notifying other waitress to cancel the order since was only three tables occupied outside and waiting time was ridiculous. Good food, nice beer but service terrible in my case. Switched to Clock Tower on Beachwood and service excellent for the all summer on the patio.

The burger wasnt bad. Service was efficient. Atmosphere okay other than the really loud music.

The server was very attentive and the burger was probably the best I have eaten. Messy but delicious. Fries were also fantastic. I love the cold water served in a two cup glass measuring cup. Pricey but worth every bite! Parking: There are ample spots to park. We went around 2 so it was not busy then.

The food was great, and the menu had nice options for everyone. We first sat inside but found it loud, so we moved to the patio The weather was nice and we liked it outside. Service was a little slow, but overall good. We will consider going back.

Best burger joint. Problem is, people know it and it gets very busy, even on Tuesdays. So patience is in order . (I think thats a summer thing, though.) Vegetarian options: Poutines and salads (as long as you tell them to leave the meat out).

Good place for burgers. We had a group of 9 and the service was excellent. Lots of burger choices and options. We would go back again. Only street parking so might be tough for parking.

Food and overall vibe were good, the service was pretty bad though. Took awhile to order, and he didnt offer to put the bday cake i brought in the fridge despite it being really hot in there. He didnt introduce himself, and refills took forever.

From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming. They even brought our dog his own bucket of ice water, which was such a thoughtful touch. A special shoutout to our server, Jade, who went above and beyond to ensure our meal was perfect. I have several severe food allergies, and Jade was meticulous in checking with the kitchen and offering suggestions to accommodate my dietary needs. Her attention to detail and exceptional kindness were extremely appreciated.

Super good and pleasant

My partner and i visited the works (363 st laurent bld) and our server, named Robbi was the best server we ve ever had at any restaurant to be honest. He was so kind to us, attentive to our needs, courteous, respectful and just so pleasant to be around. Although the food was impeccable, the reason im so satisfied with my experience was mostly because of the service we received. I highly recommend giving him a raise because he s exceptional and I will be coming back just for him, trust me you don t want to lose such a good employee!

Top notch!! Showed up with a party of 8 on a Friday night and were welcomed and accommodated. Food was excellent and fresh. Service outstanding. Well done to all staff. Looking forward to our next visit.

Best Works in South Ottawa.

TLDR - I was at the restaurant on June 15th from 5:45pm to 7:40pm and did not get to eat. Pro tip - if you are not getting served (waiting beyond what is reasonable) or got the wrong order, you should probably just leave. There are other restaurants just north of there. Or order online... you may not get the right order, but at least youll get something to eat. ** My friends and I ordered milkshakes and burgers. About 10 minutes after ordering, we were told the milkshakes would be right up. After a family seated behind us (after we arrived) got their food before we did, I asked their waiter if he could check on our order because our waiter had not been around for 15-20 minutes. The other tables waiter came back and said that our food had not been pushed through the system, so he took our orders and went away. We then got our food and our original waiter brought us milkshakes in take-out cups. I realized my burger was incorrect but had to wait 10 minutes to be able to raise this when our waiter came back. He seemed apprehensive to correct my order because we had been there for almost and hour to just get our food. When I said Id make due, he voiced that they wouldnt make me pay for that and took the plate away (to my great surprise - my friends were eating). It was unclear to me at that point whether I would get a new plate because giving me the chicken burger I had ordered would allegedly take 15-20 minutes (which is why he was apprehensive at the idea of correcting the order)... I was starving and drank the milkshake and my friends gave me most of their fries... We didnt see the waiter for at least 20 minutes again... when the other waiter came by to give us our milkshakes in dine-in mugs (so we got those twice...), I asked if he could check whether my burger was coming. He came back saying that it was not and that the family behind us had left without paying for their order (in fact, they had paid our tables bill instead of their own). Apparently, everything was a fiasco that evening and the kitchen was completely crazy (lots of online orders, I guess). Then our original waiter came back and said that he had ordered my correct burger and was watching for them to do it... and I dont know anymore how be bridged from that to the burger wasnt coming, but I was not getting it. My friends pointed out that they gave me their fries so he speculated I should be fine in that case and offered us all our meals for free... EXCEPT THAT I DID NOT GET A MEAL !! I felt pressured to accept that I wasnt going to get real food to eat... my alternative was to wait another hour for something? Maybe? I cant believe I went to a restaurant and sat there for almost two hours to not get anything to eat (and what I had received was taken away without replacement)! I was sent away hungry and crashing from the sugar rush and carbs. The waiter told me to come back (they didnt ask my name or provide me with written proof, they would just definitely recognize me) and have whatever I want... It was so bizarre... I cant go back based on a non-explicit and vague assurance that Id get a free meal (on my own?) because they didnt feed me when I showed up as a paying customer. I dont live nearby either... I never thought Id write a review about not being able to get my order in two hours at a restaurant. It is completely absurd. I hesitated to write a review because the waiters were charming and really nice.. but... seriously, you cant not give someone food to eat *at a restaurant*.

Pricey but always good. Overcook the burgers but they are still good.

My wife and I never fail to be treated with an amazing meal! We come here regularly, always ordering the same thing each time. Every time, the food is consistently delicious. Most other restaurants change certain things, usually for the worse such as fewer portions, or increase in prices. It hasn t changed for us in a long time! It s always remained a perfect reliable dinner date for us. Highly recommend of course!

The chicken burger and onion rings were very good. The service was very good and the waiter was attentive, my only criticism is it took him a long time to come back after dinner and we had 4 children with us. However, he did bring dessert and our bills on a timely fashion.

We got seated quickly but menus took 5 min to get as the person who seated us started talking to another employee, the fries were slightly undercooked, the sweet potato fries were definitely undercooked. The place was cold. Like actually cold. It was my first time ever going and for now I dont know if I will go back Edit. Changed my score reflecting on the owner not actually reading my review.

Came here for a business lunch and we all enjoyed our meals! The staff were welcoming and were on top of the service. Always asked us if we were good or needed anything else. I loved it, and thank you for the great service. The food was great. We had 2 orders of Obi Wan Kobe, one with sweet potato fries and the other with onion rings. And the chicken fight club with fries. The burger were fresh and tender. Loved it. Will be back. Vegetarian options: Great options for vegetarians who dont want meat. Parking: Ample room to park. We came all the way from alfred yesterday got there at 9:30 pm theyre open til 10 pm the doors were locked and the waitresses were laughing at me and my boyfriend outside. This is really unprofessional and i dont recommend this The Works place. We ended up having our date at mcdonalds because of them. I wasnt impressed. Took us over an hour to get there too just to have a door locked. I found it ridiculous. Im still not happy about it

(2018) Amazing food. Schedule a nap after because the food coma this place causes is legitimately dangerous. They are however incapable of using their space effectively, they pack folks into one corner leaving most of the restaurant empty. This is definelty not a good place to have a semi private conversation. Since youll be sitting so close to another diner you can easily steal fries from their plate as you will be sharing elbow space. Their fries are excellent. Update:(2023) I got the worst case of food poisoning from this location through ubereats Ive ever experienced. Ive resolved to never return but I admit the hamburger was very excellent until it made me violently evacuate for 20hrs with a force that was alarming Update: 2023 some weeks later. I was briefly hopeful it was just an error as the restaurant reached out to discuss my experience. I have received no follow up after responding to their questions and all things considered I feel pretty unloved. Likely will not visit this location again and overall pretty disappointed in The Works and their customer service. Dropping my 2 to a 1

This is the worst THE WORK S restaurant by faaaar!! The service was ultra terrible, we were seated in a table outside but no one came afterwards to take orders after 30 min of waiting we decided to go inside and ask to be seated inside closer to waiters. We order burgers and explained to waiter that i am super gluten intolerant and asked if their food is safe, she assured me that what ordered was safe. 45 min later finally our food came and they mixed my friend s order with mine. We ate and left. Later that night i started having violent stomachache and i had a horrible night tkx to this restaurant as the burger was probably full of gluten while i was assured that it was not!! Beware this the most terrible restaurant you can go to if you are looking for a good service, or gluten intolerant. I am never going back. Really good food here. Stopped for lunch on our way to the air museum. No wait around 1pm on a Monday. On site parking. We split the weeds salad with chicken and the poutine. My daughter had the Dino nuggets. Would go back here.

We arrived at 4:40 p.m. and received our meal around 6:10 p.m. Very long to receive the dishes. However the food tastes like heaven. Its so good!

Food was okay, milkshakes were awesome, and the service was meh. It may just have been the day we were in, but the servers seemed to take forever.

On Thursday June 8, 2023 around 8:00 pm i went inside to try this place, stood by the door waiting to be seated or guided somewhere, and the waitress passed me like 3 or 4 times without even looking at me as if Im invisible. Nevertheless I keep waiting and then a couple of guys go inside and guess what, the waitress immediately greets them and seats them and passes by me again like Im a chair! Trying to be patient and give the benefit of the doubt, I keep standing by the door for couple more minutes and this gentleman who works in the restaurant comes out from the kitchen, passes me like Im not there, asks a customer sitting on a table next to where Im standing if he wants something and goes back to the kitchen again without looking at me.. and Im still standing there patiently.. the waitresses passes by me again, and me being invisible of course, I dont get served or even asked if I want anything. Wondering what should I, I take a look at my reflection in the glass just to make sure Im not invisible then I turn to my car and go the nearest McDonalds...

Food prices very high and they dont inform you of the up charges.

Been coming here nearly every Friday for about 3 months. Food is great and tasty, the atmosphere is fun, but truly the staff is the best! Caitlyn is a 5 star server who truly makes coming to The Works a memorable experience!

Stopped here with our 3 year old. They have a great variety on the menu. Lots of options for burgers - vegan, GF, super carnivore, veg - something for all. Kids menu is good - variety if burgers. My 3yr old had the Mac n cheese which was very dry.... and a bowl of broccoli which he devoured. Hubs and I both got new pulled pork burger which was very good. Wish there was also a coleslaw or something on it as well. We will go back to try burgers ! Service was excellent. Very unique atmosphere, measuring cups for cups. Deliciois sangria ! Hands down the best burger I have ever eaten in my life, I am not even kidding you. This is a REAL craft/gourmet burger place! Prices are totally fair and service is spectacular (even though I was just getting takeout!) Shoutout to Jeremy for giving my wife and I a little surprise also! Will definitely be back multiple times as a regular customer! This is definitely our new go to spot!

One of the best burgers Ive ever had. Their Kobe is just amazing. The onion rings are thick and crunchy, never overdone, and their Putin is really good as well. The price is about double of what youll pay for a fast food meal, but the quality is more than double, so its worth it! It took them about 25 minutes to get the order ready, but quality is never fast. This is about my 10th time visiting one of their restaurants, and I was never disappointed. Vegetarian options: Vegan Impossible Burger.

There is a big free parking right beside. In sommer, you can eat outside. The decor is modern but the chairs are not so compfortable because they are in wood. 90 year old visiting from nova scotia. Has celiac. Had burger and fries and told waitress gluten free bun and fries. Was only meal that day out of ordinary. Mother subsequently sick and affected remainder of trip. This is a disease with real symptoms. Take it seriously,

I order from The WORKS every once in awhile using the Uber App. The last order I was disappointed with my burger. When fallowing up with The Works team , they appropriately took this matter in their own hands, hearing me out and making sure I felt like a valued customer. I ll be back to give it another try

Fun burger combinations

Very local so I could walk to the restaurant which is always nice and a great way to work up an appetite for a fantastic burger. I had The Tragically Maple which was covered in delicious maple bacon jam and what seemed like endless bacon strips, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I ordered sweet potato fries as my side and it arrived as a mountain stacked beside the burger. Delish! The staff were super friendly and very attentive. Seems like a good place to take the kids, there were a few families in the restaurant when we went. The only downside I noticed was the washroom was in need of attention with a not functioning hand dryer and no paper towels which given the lessons we have learned about the importance of hand washing seems like a big no no. Looking forward to my next visit. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly.

Very slow service, and only 1 of 8 orders was correct on the first try. Lactose-free person served burger with cheese, then the kitchen scraped it off. Gluten-free person served a bun rather than requested lettuce wrap. Our table was not offered condiments, and no refills on our water or other drinks. Dietary restrictions: Served those of us with dietary restrictions the items they were intolerant to. E.g.: scraped the cheese off when reminded lactose-free.

Had the tragically maple burger and onion rings for my first Works experience in Beechwood and the service and food were great, plus its such a cute location!

STILL UNIMPRESSED: Sent an email (Dec 11) as requested by the restaurant as seen below. Still no response 8 days later. While this location often has not been very quick we still felt it worth going as the food was good. But this last time was exceptionally bad. Most orders had a mistake, we were not offered any refills and after asking twice we were given water not the pop we had ordered. We had to take condiments and coloring sheets for the kids off other tables. The die cut chips were under cooked, one salad had two hairs in it. Really was a comedy of errors that mostly went unacknowledged by server. This whole situation took 2 hrs and we did not linger. Hoping this location can make some much needed adjustments.

Patty was super dry. I asked the waitress if I could get one not so dry and she told me they all come that way. I asked why and she said it was the law that it had to be well done. I said that is over well. So I didnt eat it. Ive had burgers with a very little bit of pink and it was amazing. I have even had well done with a little bit of grease and was really good, but that was well over done no moisture. I will not be going back. Customers should have the choice.

Today I went to this restaurant with my husband. After waiting for 15 min one of the waitresses came to clean our table, subsequently she started to spry cleaning products one me. I still feel my arms burning. I asked why she sprayed to me, and she smiled. We just decided to leave. I preferred to go a nice restaurants with educated people or at least where the human resources are much more capable..-I hope the manager can put more attention in their clients. And what kind of persons want for the business to grow, because I could have spoken to the police. She is thin, black and curly hair. she is not withe.

We always enjoy our burgers from the works. Quite often there is a wait but on this occasion it was minimal. Swrvice was good. Funky food combination options and good fries. Nacho Libre is excellent. The shakes are also excellent. A burger with fries and large shake is almost $40 with tax and tip.

Hamburger was really tasty, well cooked but still juicy. Huge serving of crispy fries which were not pre-seasoned, which I consider a bonus. Limited draft beer selection. Very pleasant service.

I went in to order a burger and fries for takeout. The server told me to come back in 15-20 minutes. I came back to the restaurant and she avoided talking to me. I ended up waiting 50 minutes with no indication as to why it took so much longer. There was no apology for the delay and they only had two tables full at the restaurant so they werent busy at all. Wont be returning ever again. Very poor service.

It was fun since we were a great bunch. It took a long time to be served unfortunately which made the kids climb the walls and my sons KD was watery. Thats a first cuz usually i call it a 5 star burger joint! Make sure u atudy the menu thoroughly before going evereything is good. Everything us huge! Oh well cant win them all.

Needs more seasoning, and put some blinds in the window for the evening. Whatever sticker you have right now doesnt cut it.

This location is usually very good but the last time I went they put the wrong sauce on both of the burgers on my order. They gave me a new bun for one of the burgers and gave me the correct sauce on the side so I had to spread it on with my fork (the only utensil on the table). Both of the sides of spicy die-cut fries had no seasoning on them and they were cold and undercooked. The burgers were both cold and the meat was burnt. The caramelized onions on my burger were undercooked and watery. They did not give us straws for our beverages. The service was poor and slow. I had to go up to the front and ask to pay my bill because the waitress was not paying attention to us. I was very disappointed in the food, and the restaurant was also very unclean with cobwebs hanging from the light fixtures above us, grime all over the walls and windows, and lopsided tables with wobbly chairs. It was also very unpleasant to smell cigarette smoke throughout the restaurant from the cooks smoking out the back door of the kitchen.

I lived in Ottawa for 8 years and The Works was oir go to for burgers, came back with friends for thanksgiving long weekend and the food was really not fresh, fries were cold.

The magic is gone in the last few years, but its still a decent option if youre in the area.

Took 10 mins for apps and an hour for our . They were good but not an hour wait. We had to be somewhere at 7 pm and arrived at 5:35 pm. Got our food at 6:35 and had to leave with take out..

Great burger. Big and juicy . But the service is deally long . In winter, it cold and in Summer, it hot (The mosquitoes will eat you alive ).
