123 Metcalfe St, Ottawa, ON K1P 6L7, Canada
Polished property featuring a relaxed restaurant/bar, plus a 24-hour gym & a spa.
We stayed for one night and it was perfect. I love the modern decor, open space, plants and it has a warm vintage feel. The rooms are very nice and the service was excellent! We will definitely be returning.
Great stylish hotel with wonderful vibe and comfy beds. Lobby is gorgeous with great seating and great music. Rooms are small but very comfy. The big issue is that some rooms face the street and you can hear the cars through the night. I’d recommend getting a room facing the courtyard and that would mitigate the street noise.
What a beautiful hotel. The vibe in lobby/bar area is wonderful. Reception was helpful and friendly. Rooms were modern, clean and spacious. Only downside, my room looked over the courtyard and the ambient noise from the lobby/bar could be heard while trying to sleep. But a pair of earplugs solves the issue. Would stay here again!
Stayed here for three nights for a work trip. Overall, had a good stay and was able to feel like I could relax and rest somewhere while I was travelling. The check-in process was fairly straightforward, and efficient. I was also able to check in earlier than the typical check-in time which I appreciate. The room is fairly clean and had everything I needed for my stay. They had a desk for getting some work done, there was a nightstand near the bed, there was an ironing board and iron in the closet, essential toiletries in the washroom, good amount of plugs everywhere, etc. They also let Uber Eats deliver up directly to your suite, which I find convenient. It was a good stay for the price and wouldn’t mind staying here again in the future.
Excellent service! Hassan was amazing. We didn't like the view that we initially had, he quickly switched us to another room. Will definitely be coming back! The room itself is extremely clean. The bed is extremely comfortable! Definitely recommend coming here
As a regular visitor to Ottawa I recently decided to try the Metcalfe as an alternative to another more expensive hotel in downtown Ottawa. The Metcalfe's location is excellent and conveniently located to all the amenities of central Ottawa. My room was spacious and larger than my previous hotel. The staff were friendly, courteous and willing to help. The restaurant offered reasonably priced alternatives for breakfast that were well prepared. I very much enjoyed my stay and will be using this hotel on future visits to Ottawa.
Our daughter’s wedding was held at the Metcalfe in October and what a wonderful experience it was! This lovely boutique hotel has a warm and cozy feel from the moment you walk in. Every single staff person was so friendly, helpful and kind. Huge shoutout to Carmen, a manager and our main contact for the wedding. Carmen, from the moment I met you in the lobby you completely put my mind at ease. You were so professional and helpful and went above and beyond to ensure that everything went smoothly. The food was delicious and all of our guests were very pleased with their choices. Every member of the team from waitstaff to housekeeping to management were so supportive, enthusiastic and kind. They treated us as if our daughter was their family member and that her wedding was as important to them as it was to us. Thank you all so much for everything. It was an absolutely perfect experience.
The Metcalfe Hotel in Ottawa is a beautiful blend of old and new. The hotel’s stylish design, with modern touches and nods to its historic past, makes it stand out. The lobby alone feels like a space you could spend hours in, with its sophisticated décor and warm lighting. My room was just as impressive, featuring sleek furnishings and a comfortable bed that ensured a restful night.||In terms of location, it couldn’t be more convenient. I walked to Parliament Hill, explored the charming Glebe neighborhood, and enjoyed a stroll along the Rideau Canal. The hotel also offers easy access to Ottawa’s dining and shopping scene such as the amazing Cocotte Bistro inside the hotel. The Metcalfe offers the perfect mix of style and location.
Beautiful hotel had a good stay
The executive room we had was great with dual shower heads. Park at City Hall, very inexpensive. Rooms: The executive room was very large and stylish. Nearby activities: By ward Market and many museums. Walkability: Lots of attractions to walk to and many good restaurants.
Have stayed at this hotel twice now for work and really like it. Highlights include the very chic and airy lobby / bar / restaurant that is a fantastic place to do some work, great lattes, and mid century millennialish design. Also love that the junior suite has a window facing onto the atrium which had a nostalgic 80s feel for me. Docking a point for a few flaws: no water or towels in the gym area (as other reviewers have noted, should be an easy fix ), normal rooms have low ceilings (go for the junior suite for an extra $30), slightly noisy HVAC system.
Gorgeous ! A superb little hotel well located beautiful restaurant. A nice surprise.
This hotel is, without a doubt, one of the most incompetent places I ve ever stayed. Upon checking in, I made it abundantly clear that I needed my electric car charged immediately. The front desk assured me multiple times that it was being taken care of. TEN HOURS and two follow-up calls later, I find out my car wasn t charged at all. When I confronted them, they threw out a flimsy excuse, calling it a miscommunication, and claimed I hadn t told them to charge it right away. Absolutely laughable. I couldn t have been clearer, and their lame excuse is nothing but a cover-up for sheer negligence and total disrespect for guests requests. If you want to stay somewhere that actively ignores you, lies to your face, and couldn t care less about even the most basic requests, this is the place for you. Complete incompetence and apathy avoid this place like the plague
I really enjoyed my stay at The Metcalfe Hotel. The check-in and checout process was seamless. The room was clean and cozy, and the entire hotel had a pleasant scent that made it feel even more welcoming. The staff were friendly, and the location was perfect for exploring nearby attractions. Would definitely stay here again Food and drinks: Theres a restaurant downstairs in the hotel
This is a lovely hotel - so quiet, clean, and nice. The Le Labo products are my fav. Walkability: Awesome location for exploring
lovely spot! They accept dogs which is a plus! Clean rooms, unique features and warm staff. Parking is ridiculously expensive and inconvenient - but i don t think they can control that. And it must be a bit of an environmental hotel as the water pressure in the shower was quite disappointing. But - it still is a little gem of a hotel.
I am physically disabled and use a power wheelchair. I work across the street from the Metcalf hotel. On Saturday the washroom at work went out of order near the end of my shift. Not many places in downtown Ottawa are open on weekends. Para Transpo was coming soon to pick me up, so I went over to the Metcalf Hotel to use their public bathroom. After I used the washroom, which was on the 2nd floor, the elevator broke down on the way back down to the lobby. Patrick, Mariette and Hassan were the hotel lobby staff on duty at the time. They couldnt get the elevator to work. They called the Fire Dept to rescue me. By the time I got back down to the lobby, I had missed my Para Transpo ride home. It was a busy day, so Para Transpo couldnt send anyone to come back for me. The Metcalf Hotel lobby staff came to my rescue. They let me stay in the warm lobby, gave me a snack, called an accessible taxi for me, and offered to cover the cab fare. I stayed there for 2 hours waiting for the accessible taxi to come. They also let me use the bathroom in an accessible suite, via the guest elevator that did work. I could not have asked for better hospitality from Patrick, Hassan and Mariette. Thank you ! A thousand times thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am staying here for the second time this year and have to say Im always unimpressed when a hotel demands top dollar in addition to the fee charged, for internet merely fast enough to watch Netflix. That plus asking for tips at the check-in desk, is truly class. Disappointing as so much else here is well done. Charge enough to pay your staff well and provide all guests with top internet, there are enough two star places in this town already.
During my recent business trip, I had the pleasure of staying at this classy hotel. The beautifully decorated rooms and comfortable bed made for a pleasant stay. On the main floor, the hotel featured a stunning lobby and a welcoming restaurant/bar. However, a few issues did arise. The newly renovated bathroom, although tastefully done, had a non-detachable showerhead with unchangeable settings, resulting in a low-pressure dribble that left me a bit unsatisfied. In addition, the internet speed was incredibly slow. For over $300 a night in downtown Ottawa, I expected better performance, yet I struggled to even load Netflix while on the Wi-Fi. Overall, the hotel offers a charming and elegant atmosphere with quality accommodations, but improvements in the bathroom design and internet speed would significantly enhance the overall experience. Food and drinks: The food and drinks here were incredible, the steaks were the best we ve ever had. Ever.
On the positive side, the rooms were spacious, comfortable, and the front desk staff were honestly great. However, noise was a major issue. Sound from the lobby really travels, and midweek an absolute rager of party went on until midnight. I was on the fifth floor and it felt like I was part of party (for context, the video was taken INSIDE my room). Guests weren t given any notice, and I never heard back from management despite repeated follow-up. It s a decent hotel if you re looking to party, but probably wouldn t recommend if you re a light sleeper or senstive to noise.
Nice hotel but the corridors are very echoey. The room was clean, the bathroom renovated, the bed and bedding very comfortable.l
Great central stay . Made even better by an upgraded room for my birthday ,thankyou. Rooms
We had booked a room for 4 people, we had towels and bath accessories for 2 people (?)
Good
Great location, reasonable room rates based on location. Very friendly staff. Clean, comfortable in rooms, hallways and hotel restaurant. Would recommend and would stay here again if back in Ottawa
The Metcalfe is a beautiful hotel located in the heart of Ottawa, walking distance to everything, staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable., fantastic beds. Excellent restaurant located inside, French cuisine $$$. Highly recommended. I would definitely stay here again.
Room was smaller than expected and no bath but beds were very comfortable and room was incredibly clean. I had a bummer view of the building beside me. Lovely spot to work with comfy chair, nice size tv for channel surfing. Enjoyed the lush robes. The gym was decent and the bball court was cool but no towels available or water fountain which wasn t cool. The cleaning paper towels for the equipment never worked either. Never tried the restaurant but looked very nice. Lovely lobby to read and people watch. Awesome distance from the sights. I d probably stay here again considering the options in this city for this price point. Oh also hooked me up with late checkout to 1pm no extra charge which is always a benefit.
Amazing service! Everyone was helpful, professional and courteous, beyond any other hotel Ive been to. Gorgeous, clean and well lit rooms. Will definitely stay there again and recommend to friends-family! Walkability: Near public transportation, making it easy going around. Many places to eat and shop nearby.
We held our wedding at the Metcalfe on October 10, 2024 with 40 guests and our special day could not have been better. Every staff member at the Metcalfe that we interacted with was kind, professional, and dedicated to making sure that our wedding day was perfect. Carmen, the event sales manager, was an absolute pleasure to work with. In the months leading up to the wedding, she was always available to answer our questions and to discuss how to make our vision a reality. She walked us through every step of planning our event. On the day of the wedding, Carmen went above and beyond to ensure that our plans went off without a hitch. Our special day would not have been possible without her incredible care, hard work, and attention to detail. We had a beautiful ceremony in the Cartier Room, followed by cocktail hour in the atrium and dinner in the Edwards Room. The architecture of the hotel is stunning and the ambiance is warm and inviting. It was exactly the aesthetic we wanted for our wedding. Joseph, the food and beverage director, organized an amazing cocktail hour and dinner. Our guests agreed that the food was absolutely delicious and the portions were generous. The servers were friendly and attentive our glasses were never empty! My husband and I had a lovely two-night stay at the Metcalfe. As part of our wedding package, we were upgraded to a suite and our guests staying at the Metcalfe received a discount on their hotel rooms. Our suite was spacious, quiet, and comfortable. We also enjoyed a celebratory bottle of wine, cheese, and charcuterie courtesy of the hotel. Our whole experience with the Metcalfe, from our initial discussions with Carmen to the end of our wedding reception, was amazing and we could not be more pleased. We d strongly recommend the Metcalfe to anyone looking for an intimate wedding with exceptional service, amazing food, and a beautiful location.
One of the best hotel experiences Ive ever had. The staff was amazing and they even brought us a charcuterie board and champagne for our wedding anniversary. Everything about this place is perfect. It is in a great location and an easy walk to all the attractions!
Loved this hotel. Location was perfect and everyone working within was friendly and kind. I was able to get into my room early with no charge, and they upgraded me too. The bistro had a most delicious eggs Benny, and nice coffee as well. I would immediately book here again if I return to Ottawa.
$42.00 for parking!!
The property itself is very nice and conveniently located from many landmarks and places to dine. The staff was also excellent, particularly the housekeeping staff who were quick with a smile, a greeting, and to ask if there was anything you needed. Its possible there may have been been some renovations going on, but the gym seemed to be an afterthought. There was enough equipment to get a workout in, but astonishingly, there were no towels (though it appeared something might have been a towel rack) and no water available. With a few minor changes, some updating and the addition of more equipment it could be a nice space. Just was underwhelmed given the rest of the property seemed so well-appointed.
Don t ever stay at this place!!!!
Our daughter s wedding was held at the Metcalfe on Oct 10 24. Where to begin to describe what a wonderful experience this was! The hotel itself is just lovely. It s a boutique hotel with a warm cozy vibe from the moment you walk through the door. The downtown location was very convenient and all of our wedding guests were very comfortable there. Carmen, a sales manager at the hotel, managed the wedding arrangements and was our daughter s main contact for the wedding. We live in another province and therefore couldn t be as hands-on as we would have liked. Our daughter had told us how wonderful Carmen had been with all of the planning and when I met her in the lobby on the morning of the wedding, I could certainly see that for myself. Carmen, you were so professional, friendly and helpful. I instantly felt so relieved that the arrangements were in your capable hands. Carmen made herself readily available throughout the day and went above and beyond to ensure that everything went smoothly. The food was delicious. All of the menu options were wonderful and our guests were so pleased with their choices. Every member of the team from housekeeping to wait staff to the director were so supportive, enthusiastic and kind. They all treated us as if our daughter was a family member of theirs and that her wedding was just as important to them as it was to us. Thank you so much to all of you. The wedding was perfect and we re so grateful to all of you for the huge effort that you put into it. Several staff members had mentioned to us that The Metcalfe does a lot of weddings. We can certainly attest that they have it down to a fine art. Thank you.
Beautiful downtown location!
The Metcalfe Hotel is a beautiful hotel in a downtown location with comfortable beds and loads of amenities both in the public areas and in the rooms. Our corner suite on the 2nd floor was dark and hot when we were getting ready, the air conditioned struggled to get it lower than 22 degrees inside during the day with 4 of us being inside. I had many curtains opened to get more light but I think the rooms are just dark in general, which is GREAT for sleeping, but not so great for makeup and photos. It was a comfortable temperature to sleep in with just 2 people. I had also been told it was a $100 booking fee for their Atrium for 1 hour for photos, which we decided to forego. They are very strict with photos without a booking and so we only took photos in our room. Lastly their QR code tipping system wouldn t load properly during our checkout, meaning we couldn t tip at the end, which feels unfair to the staff who do work hard and provided excellent service throughout our stay. As a note the drop off situation here can also be quite stressful, as it s right on Metcalfe St. Not something I am marking them down for as it is just how it is in a downtown hotel, but an important thing to note if you re unloading many things.
Currently staying here (wife, me and our dog) and so happy we chose this boutique hotel. Amazing location, close to restaurants, parliament hill, and a beautiful park. The Cocette bistro on the main floor is also really great. Weve had the mussels, pasta, French fries (amazing!) and the French onion soup. Service and quality was great. I have to say the best overall positives of our stay is the service. Everyone has been really nice! Bellhop at the front opens the door if he is there and the front desk staff are super sweet. Big shoutout to Talie at the front desk as she has gone above and beyond to make sure were all comfortable and happy during our stay so far. She is really sweet and I would come back here ultimately because of her. 10/10 stay - will come back
Very quiet Rooms: Very clean Nearby activities: Bars and restaurants
But without hesitation I will come back to your place one day it was great room, service, welcome and all with great decor and a magnificent building we parked in the underground car park of the city hall for 4 dollars per night it gave us was advised by the receptionist we had a super good breakfast in a fantastic setting it was great see you soon because its my favorite Rooms: Spacious clean functional and a bed to stay in bed as it was so comfortable thank you for this magical moment Food and drinks: Super mini bar, be careful all the same to ensure that the drinks have not been consumed by the people before you
Have waited about 90 minutes for a house burger and some simple orders to arrive when the place had only a few customers. The waiter had to be found to speed things up, did not even offer some bread or small snack to alleviate the hunger. Their excuse of one in the party having special dietary needs was lame. For a place that charges at least double the going prices this is inexcusable. Go there if you like the ambiance and paying exorbitant prices but be prepared to be ignored.
Exceptional boutique hotel! Gorgeous spaces and even better service from the staff. Everyone loved the food! Thank you Marian, Amanda, Matthew and Joseph and Vitto for your great attention to detail taking such great care of our 200+ guests in your space. A night to remember!
I recently stayed at The Metcalfe Hotel by Gray Collection and had the pleasure of attending the RÄND VO O Business Network event hosted there last night. The hotel has been beautifully renovated, featuring a stunning atrium that gave the event an elegant and welcoming atmosphere. The event itself was fantastic, with great food, a lively crowd, and a prime example of the vibrant business networking scene in Ottawa. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with other professionals in such a chic and memorable venue. My room was spacious, clean, and tastefully renovated. Everything about it was comfortable and welcoming. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay, making sure I had everything I needed. The next morning, I had breakfast at the Cocotte Bistro Restaurant, where the service was excellent. The food was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic, with a good range of menu options. I loved the seating choices whether you prefer a traditional dining setting or a more relaxed library atmosphere in the atrium, the options were unique and stylish. Overall, my stay at The Metcalfe Hotel was great. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique and upscale experience in the heart of the city!
I would also like to highlight the disposition and kindness of Maridtte at the reception.
Beautiful hotel with a lovely restaurant attached. Everyone was very professional and welcoming. Valet service was quick. Restaurant staff went above and beyond to make the experience fantastic and special.
We took the opportunity to do a weekend trip to Ottawa with our youngest son before school started. We couldn t have picked a better hotel, firstly the staff was amazing which is always enjoyable, secondly the hotel is absolutely beautiful and lastly it s situated in such an amazing location that it s easy to walk around and enjoy the city. We also enjoyed brunch at Cocotte which was very enjoyable. A must if you re planning on visiting Ottawa. Rooms: Just beautiful with such attention to detail Nearby activities: Parliament , shopping and so much more Safety: Very safe. Walkability: Prime location. So close to parliament. Food and drinks: Plenty of options in and around the hotel
Seconding another reviewers comment about the front desk staffs friendliness and helpfulness! I booked a room using Agoda, and the platform must have listed the check-in time incorrectly. Accordingly, I arrived an hour ahead of the Metcalfe Hotels official check-in time. I was perplexed, but the front desk staff allowed me to check in ahead of schedule I hadnt expected this but was very grateful for the leeway. Ill book directly next time! My room was comfortable and kitted-out with high-end touches. The air conditioning was very welcome during a heat wave, and the hotels central location was a plus. Would stay again.
We spent two nights at this hotel and had a mixed experience, though it leaned more toward the positive side. The location is excellent, just a five-minute walk from Parliament Hill, and the valet service for the car was efficient. Breakfast was enjoyable, albeit slightly overpriced. The room, however, was smaller than average, and the mattresses were too soft for our liking. On the plus side, the hotel features pleasant common areas, a well-equipped gym, and a sports room with facilities for basketball and ping-pong.
Room is very clean, we loved our stay
Small, but elegant. No rooms have views, dont bother paying extra. You look at a building, or a building 10 meters away. S
Very good rooms and service; located downtown close to the hill
To spend 2 or 3 lots without many pretensions ok, paid parking, decent service for breakfast and lunch
Great location and very clean rooms.
Holy was this an excellent hotel. Great decor, excellent staff, luxury amenities, SUPERB location, and the smell .sooo luxurious. Loved every minute of my stay here to a point where I didn t even want to leave to explore the city. Rooms: So luxurious with super comfortable beds and all of the le labo toiletries :) Nearby activities: Restaurants, Walkability: Like smack dab in the middle of Downtown like a 3 min walk from parliament hill. Maybe 15 mins walk to byward and a 15 mins walk to Centretown.
Very good hotel that is located near the parliament hill. Big room and good service. Valet parking Nearby activities: Near the parliament hall
Beautiful boutique hote. Great location. Lovely decor. Our room was perfect for what we needed. Bathroom was spacious. Everything was very clean. Loved that there was hardwood flooring rather than questionable carpeting. Bed was super comfortable. Only small complaint is that room service is only open till 9:30 pm (or was on the days we stayed - Saturday to Monday), so no late night snacks. Also no on site parking, (they have valet but its expensive) but we found a parking garage about a 5 minute wLk from the hotel, so not too much of an inconvenience. Would definitely stay here again.
Great room, very friendly staff amd great location. Will definitely come back here.
My daughter and I had brunch at Cocotte. Beautiful moment in a friendly, warm and refined atmosphere. The menu is simple and offers a good choice of fresh and tasty dishes, at an affordable cost. Great discovery, right in the city center. We will go back.
We had an excellent stay at The Metcalfe for two nights. The staff were all incredibly gracious and helpful. Our room was quiet and the bed was incredibly comfortable. They even had a crib we could use for our 10 month old! Walkability: Very close to Parliament Hill, the Ottawa Locks, and other attractions. We were also able to walk to multiple coffee shops and restaurants nearby.
Terrible experience: I booked 5 months ago to have a lovely week-end with my wife and run the Ottawa Marathon. Hotel called a week before to confirm our arrival time, everything was fine. We show up today and they say they cannot host us and relocate us to a cheap nearby hotel (the Delta). Forget the lovely week-end, welcome stinky carpets and being far from the center. They just didn t care about us, overbooked to make more money and threw us like garbage. It is unethical and I will never book there again and unless you want to be treated like your reservation is worth nothing, I suggest you do not book there. Find a hotel that actually will book the room for you.
The Metcalfe Hotel has been a delightful experience and makes anyones stay in Ottawa more pleasant. Beyond the incredible room and nice amenities, the best is truly their client experience. I had the pleasure or having Caleb E. Take care of me during my stay. The service was of such quality that Ive rebooked the Metcalfe twice since. He is devoted to ensuring you have the best stay possible, will be resourceful for any issues you may have and always greats you with warmth at your arrival. Caleb and the rest of his team truly are a plus for anyones stay in town
Exquisite boutique-type hotel. Every point of our stay was greeted with impressive wonder! Our room (#314) was a Queen, however we reserved a King. This was absolutely no problem because, due to my Wife & I coming for the Ottawa Race Weekend, we were able to check-in very early (9:00 am) & check-out after the Races around noon. Thanks for that! I always hate hotel in-room coffee, however, The Metcalfe has Nespresso coffee pods & maker which was surprisingly delicious! (Ive never tried Nespresso.) We also requested on ice bucket & it arrived with ice super quickly! We didnt try the in-hotel restaurant/bar, but it was generally full & the the food looked good! The only quirk I had (not my Wife) was the Lobby area had an intentional odor of frankincense! This was being infused through the hotels HVAC system. To be clear, its only around the Lobby /Reception area. As a former Altar Boy, I most definitely recognize this smell as I attended many, many funerals. This smell greeted me as we were checking in & gave me a very negative first impression. However, that impression was most clearly eliminated with my VERY positive & pleasurable stay at this pleasant & well-maintained hotel. When in Ottawa, we WILL most definitely be back!! Thank you to the Hotel for making our weekend!!
Food and drinks: Salmon was truly exceptional Service
WOW, a gem indeed. First visit and definitely NOT the last. The service was exceptional, with Caleb at the front desk and Janan at the bar, youre in exceptional hands. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable, the location excellent, and the hotel absolutely charming.
UPD Manager contacted me and resolved this situation. Amazing job from Talie, thanks. We had a one night stay in this hotel. Weve been provided with extremely dark room on the 2nd floor without ceiling lamp and windows facing the wall. Stuff on side said that they completely booked and cant change the room for us (we asked for something at least on higher floors with a bit more of light in it) and started to convince us that they already did upgrade of our room for bigger one (which I never asked). No attempt to please the customer or at least reduce the level of disappointment a little. Once we back in the room and sat down on the bed - lamp which is mounted in the bed headband just fall off on the pillow. This was fixed after, but left another sour feeling. Location is great, lobby is nice looking though.
Great customer service but to be honest for the Price we paid $$$400 for a middle of the week stay We were underwhelmed by our Rooms and The Bathrooms are very wonky.. You have to get in the shower and get wet to turn it on unless you have a extra long arm and there are no fans, the ceiling was peeling from the humidity. The atrium is beautiful.
Badly setup bed and breakfast package.wont do that again!! Noteworthy details: If you book the bed and breakfast,be aware all your breakfast isnt covered only to a certain $$.so bed and almost breakfast...??? Rooms : 3/5 |
I would stay there every time I go to Ottawa!
Ideally located hotel with great front desk service. Parking is tricky, as expected in this area of the town but the from desk was very helpful and knowledgeable of where to park. The room we had was sizeable, super clean and nicely decorated. Loved our stay there!
The entire hotel had a classic modern style. Loved the interior design, and the service was obsolute top-notch. We will definitely recommend it to everyone.
I experienced a very relaxing 1 night stay here on my first trip back to Ottawa in many years. The Metcalfe came highly recommended by industry friends and was a surprisingly quick and enjoyable drive just a few hours east of home in PEC. Our first contact was Ramiro at the valet stand outside the front door. His welcoming manner and enthusiasm stood out and set the tone for the level of respectful, professional and friendly service we would encounter throughout the hotel. The in room amenities included super luxurious shower and bath toiletries, a mini Nespresso with complimentary pods and a quality Bluetooth speaker with easy to access instructions. Sadly, the visit missed some key opportunities to deliver high level service - one instance was simply due to having to repeat a request for the use of a garment steamer (3x). While it eventually appeared 3+ hours later, the worker baffled us by not announcing his arrival and simply entering the room while we were in it. There was no apology and it felt awkward. Stranger still, twice we left the machine outside the room to indicate it was no longer needed, we d come back to the room to find it infront of the door and another time back inside the room. It was a bit bizarre. Handover during room service delivery the next morning was a bit awkward. He had us clumsily handling the loaded tray of food and drinks while expecting us to sign the bill at the same time, instead of asking to come in and setting it down for us. Just small but important details that would have elevated the experience. The noise from the restaurant and lobby unfortunately carries up the large open air main entrance so i was grateful for the substantial volume of white noise from the HVAC fan to drown it out to sleep. The bed, pillows and linens are phenomenal, plus the tech setup was impeccable -usb ports and plugs everywhere you need them most! Unfortunately the thermostat lcd was broken and you could not read the temp # to know what it was set to. There was the option to open a small window to allow fresh air in if we needed to adjust. There were super thoughtful touches like setup instructions infront of the Bluetooth speaker, QR code to easily order room service, mini bar price list in drawer above mini fridge with complimentary mini Nespresso pods, French vanilla creamers and assorted herbal teas. A large branded umbrella in the closet to use and/or buy as a souvenir. Cozy robes and adjustable slippers to lounge in, stoneware mugs, wine glasses, wifi, and cable tv options. I would consider staying here again in the future when looking for somewhere classy to stay right downtown.
Wonderful experience, thoughtful friendly staff, perfect location
A nice place, slightly overpriced for what it is. The location is good and bad. Great for walking distance to attractions but difficult for parking. They offer valet parking for extra charge. Room view was of a concrete wall.
Great amenities.
Everyone here was fantastic but Caleb was especially outstanding. Kind, courteous, patient, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. We were a large group and he was calm, collected, and helped organize us. Some other notable mentions were Abdul and Mariette, who were two of the sweetest, most helpful people we had the privilege of meeting. We will definitely be back!
We had our wedding at the Metcalfe Hotel on April 19th, 2024. To say our experience was incredible is an understatement. We are so very grateful to the Metcalfe hotel and their staff for making our day as spectacular as it was. Planning the wedding with the team was a breeze...they were informative, attentive and were always working with us to find a way to make our vision come true. Joseph the Food and Beverage manager was a dream to work with - his professionalism, and ability to problem solve was amazing. We are also extremely grateful to Amanda who did a great job of hopping in and helping us plan as well. We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights - the hotel room was beautiful, clean, spacious and the perfect set up for us to get ready in for the wedding. The crew was extremely helpful in helping us unload our wedding decor, cleaned the room for our photographer, had a beautiful champagne and cheese plate welcome surprise, offered to put roses on our bed and constantly checked in to see what they could help with. The valet parking was a much easier process than I had thought! As for the wedding - The cocktail in the atrium was so beautiful - our guests were blown away. The cocktails and hors doeuvres were delicious (some of the best Ive ever had at a wedding if I do say so myself!). The reception room downstairs was cozy and intimate and the servers were welcoming and attentive. The dinner itself...wow...I cannot even begin to describe how delicious. All in all I am so thankful we chose the Metcalfe as our venue for our wedding. We received so many compliments from our guests - a truly unique, romantic, modern, classy wedding venue. We cannot wait to come back to celebrate our anniversary!!! Thank you!!!!!!
My husband and I flew in from Vancouver for a 5 night stay at The Metcalf hotel. Unfortunately when we arrived quite late at night after a redeye there was no one working the front desk. We waited 35-40 mins in the empty lobby at 2:30am, only to be treated very poorly on check-in by a rude staff member named Jess. After this experience I did not want to stay at the hotel for the remainder of our trip, however the Metcalf has an incredible manager named Dameo who was very kind, professional, and apologetic about our initial experience. Dameo really went above and beyond to turn our stay around. The location of the Metcalf is excellent, within walking distance of a number of restaurants, shops, and parliament hill. Our room was spacious with a large walk-in shower. We are very glad we ultimately stayed with the Metcalf and big thanks to Dameo for ensuring we had a wonderful holiday.
Words cannot express my gratitude for the way The Metcalfe Hotel took care of my family as we celebrated the wedding of my son and daughter in law. Every detail was looked after and the staff was incredible to work with. A big thank you to Joseph who was always around to keep the cocktail hour and reception flowing so smoothly. Every server including Chelsea, was exceptional. The eclectic decor of the hotel including the atrium area was perfect! We booked several rooms for family arriving from N.S. and the USA and many guests stayed two nights to make the most of our exciting event. Everyone raved about the rooms, the incredible food and the overall experience. We could not have been happier! Thank you all so very much and we will be back! Rooms: The rooms were immaculate, and the Nespresso machines were a nice bonus. Very comfortable beds and modern decor. Food and drinks: The cocktail hour canapés were absolutely delicious! I chose the beef option for my reception dinner and it was the most tender prime rib with red wine sauce I have ever had! And for 60 people, every meal was hot and the servers were excellent.
The Metcalfe Hotel provided my family with exceptional care throughout our stay. With its luxurious accommodations, excellent amenities, and central location, it was the perfect choice for our trip. The friendly staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience.
Very professional service! To visit if you come to Ottawa!
This hotel was fantastic. The staff were very helpful, especially the concierge. The rooms were modern, clean and quiet. The restaurant food was also to a high standard.
An absolute dump! I asked for a quiet room, they gave a room that is basically on the street. There is no hot water and they have no clue if/when will be fixed. I have a business meeting at 8:30 am! They took no action, they didn t apologized, they have zero interest of resolving it, I have never witness such a disinterest in customer service. It should be inspected and definitely should shut down. How on heart this has 4 stars and who is writing those reviews?? Their relatives and friend?
I recently stayed at The Metcalfe Hotel in Ottawa and had a wonderful experience, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Mr. Dameo and his staff. Although there was an issue with the hot water during our stay, the way it was handled made all the difference. Mr. Dameo went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. He and his team were incredibly responsive, addressing the issue promptly and doing everything possible to assist us. They showed a genuine commitment to making things right, and their efforts did not go unnoticed. To apologize for the inconvenience, Mr. Dameo made a generous gesture that truly exceeded our expectations. This level of dedication to guest satisfaction is rare and highly commendable. Despite the initial setback, our stay at The Metcalfe Hotel was enjoyable, and the experience was made memorable by the exceptional hospitality we received. I highly recommend this hotel and want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Dameo and his team for their kindness and professionalism.
myself and my girlfriend stayed her for just one night after having some food in their lobby restaurant at COCOTTE BISTRO. The hotel had a promotion going on that the staff were keen to point out on their instagram page and actually encouraged me to use and I got a great room rate. The hotel seemed newly renovated and has only 6 floors with rooms ...the 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms are basic but decorated in a really nice way with a vintage vibe and the bed was sooo comfortable and the rooms were very clean and they used good quality decor to adorn the rooms. They have suite rooms that are larger and are still available at a great room rate too as well for the closeness to all the great tourist activities in Ottawa this is great vaule. The Staff was next level the room supervisor Caleb Eshleman was amazing he was sooo friendly and gave me great suggestions to save money in various ways and was not looking to upsell me on anything in the hotel but was more concerned with getting me the best value for money. Caleb gave me a list of great resturants and places to dine within close distance to the hotel and even gave me and my girlfriend great ideas of activities to do in the evening and throughout the day. Caleb even gave us a spa recommendation to a better place than Nordik in Gatineau that we will definately check out next time. Front desk staff Dameo and Ghita were great as well. This place is awesome if your in town for pleasure or business and the hotel is safe and the staff are the highlight. It has a small gym with a basketball net and ping pong table area and free weights and some treadmills, nothing crazy fancy but more than enough to get a decent workout in. oh and the bistro had the flakiest and most delicious croissants I have ever had :) I hope this place can stay as a little hidden gem and continue at this level and even improve as time goes on, but bravo on the level of service thus far .....great stay thank you Caleb and The Metcalfe regards, Vijay
Really beautiful hotel in a prime location. 5 minute walk to Parliament. Valet parking service is courteous (and expensive). Rooms are nice and clean and pretty big. Well equipped also, though the air conditioning didn t seem to work in any of the rooms we had blocked out for a wedding. Staff were so polite and helpful! My only complaint is that the hotel is so loud. If you have a room on the street side, you will hear absolutely everything, including people talking in the sidewalk below. If you don t have a room streetside, you ll hear everything in the interior. For the price of everything to stay, you d hope they had invested in soundproofing when renovating lol.
The setting is exceptional and very tasteful. The room is spacious and well equipped. Bedding and linen: a real pleasure! The staff is very pleasant. I specially thank Ghita at the reception for her excellent service.Surely, we will come back :)
This is our first stay at the Metcalfe Hotel, and wont be our last. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. From the doorman to the check-in, we felt the most courteous and welcoming attention. The rooms are well appointed, and the bed comfortable. It was a feeling of luxury for a very affordable price. The atrium and the library are a great way to sit and relax while the world goes by! Excellent breakfast at the Cocotte bistro. The customer service is excellent as is the attention to detail. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return visit.
Excellent stay at the Metcalfe, the rooms are very clean and very modern. The hotel itself is beautiful and the service was beyond excellent, I will stay here again for sure whenever in Ottawa.
Loved this little gem of a hotel in Ottawa. Stayed over Christmas and the decorations were also super cute! They have done renovations as well but my room was large and comfortable pre renovations. I had a little living room and everything. I liked the layout. Good location. Library is also close!
Central, elegant and amazing staff! I called them direct instead of using a website and got an excellent deal too.
Went to metcalfe hotel last weekend. It was an impromptu plan and we we half way when i booked a room online. The price was a great value and the calet service although was high but very much worth it. The service was impeccable and the staff was extremely friendly helpful and knowledgeable. Was able to provide attarctions information maps etc immediately. The front desk staff especially Caleb is a gem young but always helped with a smile on his face and his attentive kimd nature made our stay even better. Rooms: Very clean and spacious room with modern upgrades to bathrooms as well. Nearby activities: Parliament hill Safety: Very safe and take accountability Walkability: Is within 10 mins walking distance of all the attractions
Talie is the absolute best. A person that truly made it not only right, but above and beyond from the beginning until the very end of our stay. Rooms
Had a really enjoyable night at The Metcalfe. This boutique-style hotel is located in central Ottawa along with a number of other chains (consider in the downtown core) and within easy walking distance to the well known Byward market and Rideau Centre and a few blocks from the Parliament Buildings. So, it is well located in the city. There is also a well appointed bar cum French bistro restaurant in the lobby (see Cocotte Bistro review). The hotel surrounds a large central atrium with a glass ceiling providing a warm ambiance even in winter time (though a few rooms have windows facing into the atrium and not outside). The rooms have solid floating floors (mock hardwood), comfortable beds and clean bathrooms (see photos). Parking is the only point I would bring up (but this would be for most hotels in a downtown core). The valet cost for the hotel is $42 but just down the street at the Ottawa City Hall is a large underground parking complex that you can leave your car overnight for only $4. Even in winter time the walk is reasonable (estimated at about 200m). Check-in service was very pleasant and considerate so overall very happy. Definitely worthy of a stay and I would return in the future. Enjoy!
Stayed here for a couple night for my daughters birthday. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are clean and the staff is phenomenal! Made for a wonderful stay.
Beautiful hotel in a good location, good value for money. Impeccable welcome and service. Beautiful menu at the Cocotte restaurant.
Nice lobby, nice room, nice restaurant. But they lied to my face multiple times. There is public paid parking, even though they tell you there isn t. They try to make you pay for the valet and if you don t want to they give you a map to a lot 10 minutes away. While their valet uses a PUBLIC PARKING on the same block. They pretend not to know but they park there! How can they not know? I did not appreciate having to walk in the rain late at night because they would prefer I pay for the valet. This is unacceptable and appalling. Noteworthy details: They lie about the parking.
I haven t even stayed here yet; but in already a bit annoyed at the staff. I tried to book and the great lady that was helping out was super nice, and seemed very interested in taking care of my needs. As it was a last minute booking, she couldn t complete my booking and I got transferred (actually had to call a diff number instead) to the front desk staff or something to that effect. They guy (I would say gentleman but it wouldn t be an accurate description) was the most arrogant, short, uncaring, not accommodating, inflexible, and not welcoming individual I have ever spoken to. I wish I had taken down his name, as I would have plastered it all over this review. In fact, I may explore who it is as I check-in and do that anyhow. I wouldn t want him representing my company, and my life will be better if I never cross paths with him again. Not a great start. More to follow. Noteworthy details: Some staff seem amazing; others you d be better off never having spoken to.
We enjoyed our stay at the Metcalfe Hotel. Everything is new and rooms are well equipped and of good size. The location is central, and they have a nice restaurant downstairs.
Excellent service experience in dealing with the front desk staff (who were very attentive and informative). Location is a quick walk to many major sites of the city. Some hotel atrium noise might be audible depending on which unit you have. Did not have time to try the bistro connected to the hotel but it looked lively at all times of the day.
Amazing experience in this boutique hotel. Staff is great . Specially Kalen Safety: Super safe Walkability: Right in downtown ottawa beautiful location Food and drinks: Close up restaurants and Byward market
I really enjoyed this hotel! Nice and quiet, clean, comfy and great choice using products from Le Labo. I needed a bucket for ice and an employee by the name of Rich dropped everything he was doing to get me a bucket from the basement and walk me to the ice machine. 10/10 Service!
Ive stayed at the Metcalfe several times, but was disappointed in my recent stay. The rooms, service and location are fine but it is lacking amenities. They used to have a pool so I didnt think to check that they still had a pool - they dont! It has been replaced by a small not very exciting games room. I like to swim when Im at a hotel, so that was a let-down. We read on the website that they have a happy hour (Apero) from 3-6 pm in the lounge bar, so we thought wed try that out only to be told that they were not doing this during the holiday season. I said its still on the website. The server checked with the manager, who just said no, without any apology. (They have drinks and dinner, but not the specials advertised). Finally, our room was on the 3rd floor and you can definitely hear noise from the lobby lounge. There were loud kids even after 11pm. The front desk staff were lovely, and the server in the lounge was pleasant but I dont think Ill return.
Stayed at The Metcalfe for New Year s Eve. Caleb and Talie were exceptional and would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a boutique hotel experience. Great spot for walking to nearby food and bars.
This was our first Hotel on a 2 week trip from Ottawa to Quebec City and by far the best place we stayed. Everything about this Hotel was fantastic from the service at the front desk, the quality of the rooms, the restaurant and of course the location. This hotel is literally steps away from Parliament and some of the other major tourist attractions the city has to offer. 5 stars all around, will definitely be staying here for our next visit to Ottawa.
I was very pleasantly surprised with my first stay in this hotel. The hotel and rooms were very modern and comfortable. The staff were fun, accommodating and knowledgable. the games area was a really fun place for our group to warp un the night.
BLOWN away by this hotel, the lobby was absolutely jaw dropping and so inspiring to work from. We stayed in a junior suite, which was very comfortable and clean. We loved the free Nespresso that was included in the room. We also made great use of their gym and games room, that had a basketball net, table tennis, and a putting green. We had brunch one morning at their onsite restaurant, Cocotte Bistro, which was excellent. Friendly and professional staff made our stay unforgettable, would highly reccomend this hotel to anyone in need of a short or long term stay in Ottawa! Rooms: Very clean, comfortable, and spacious. Walkability: Within proximity to local restaurants, shops, and attractions.
I stayed here for a work event. The location was centrally located to all of the key things in the Ottawa downtown area which was exactly what we were hoping for. The hotel itself is gorgeous. My colleagues and I enjoyed using the gym, playing basketball and pingpong and even a little putting green. Every interaction I had with the staff, at any time of the day or night were nice, welcoming and willing to help us.
We stayed here for a work event for almost a week. Beautiful, boutique style hotel with very friendly and accommodating team members! Great gym, and even an open gym with a half court, ping pong, and putting practice green.
Our first stay at the Metcalfe left a strong impression. The staff wonderful - friendly, professional, and attentive. The suite we stayed in had hardwood floors, which is a very pleasant upgrade from carpeting typically found in hotels. The breakfast from the in house café was among the best we ve had while travelling. Much better than hotel breakfasts. Comfy beds with high quality pillows and bedding. All in all, The Metcalfe is an above average hotel. In my opinion, a better choice and value than the chain hotels. Will definitely book again!
Beautiful, charming and clean hotel. Our arrival was a little complicated due to the reception with the car... after having passed this detail the experience was pleasant. Strong point: The setting and beauty of the hotel The location of the hotel right in the center is a real plus. The restaurant next door Cleanliness Area of improvement: The pillows in the rooms are too basic for a hotel of this standard. The television in the bedroom is of decent quality, not wowahah The valet service is a little expensive and should be better indicated when you arrive. I recommend this hotel.
Nice hotel, well equipped room for work trip
My daughters and I had a girls weekend and we stayed here. The hotel is stunning! It has a cozy, warm vibe. The lobby is so inviting and comfortable. The staff are so knowledgeable and kind! I was originally going to book a hotel chain, but boutique hotels all the way! The rooms and beds were beautiful! The beds were so comfortable and the rain fall shower was fabulous! The restaurant was amazing for brunch as well! We will definitely be staying here again! Thank you!
An Ottawa gem. Comfortable, cosy and provides a good disconnect from the boring downtown vibes. Staff is extremely cordial. Parquet is a bonus, no hundred years old carpets.
My best friend and her husband were recently married at the Metcalfe and I reached out to the hotel about sending something up to their room to celebrate the big day. Gillian and her team went above and beyond to assist in making the bride and groom feel so special. With the help of the the food and beverage manager, and chef, she organized champagne, macarons, and fruit to be sent to their room on the morning of the wedding. She was extremely communicative and went above and beyond updating me about everything along the way. The bride and groom were singing her praises as well, and said the entire staff was incredibly attentive and helpful the entire weekend. Thank you for making my friends feel so special, and helping me celebrate their love from miles away. I look forward to a stay at the Metcalfe in the future, for their exceptional customer service is unparalleled!
The atrium at this hotel is breathtaking. The art deco inspired decor made this hotel unique and definitely gave it a boutique feel. I really enjoyed the added touches made available for the Valentines day package. The bed was comfortable, the amenities such as the in room nespresso and chromecast enabled tv were great to have and should be included at more hotels. The mattress was comfortable and the lighting in the rooms was great with lots of options that made for a great ambience. The only downsides were that the floors in the room were not very clean and the sound echoed up through atrium and could be heard in our room on the sixth floor and did wake us up a few times in the night. The building in general was pretty cold and our room was cold at night even though we set the temperature to 22. Parking at the front was very busy and it was incredibly difficult to find a spot where we could leave the car, checkin, and give the keys to the valet. All in all it is a well decorated boutique hotel and we enjoyed our stay.
Very well located hotel, attentive staff. The lobby restaurant is magnificent with this beautiful glass roof. The bistro food is very good. A very nice stay in this establishment.
Great little hotel. Rooms: Modern, clean. Walkability: Central location, close to everything. Food and drinks: Delicious
Very nice place and quality service!
Beautiful hotel! The beds and pillows were super comfy and I enjoyed the rainfall shower. Loved the rooms decor & furnishings (in both form and function). The lighting options were great and I found the room temp to be perfect. Ideal location for tourists (great nearby restaurants and the ever popular Byward Market). The service was top notch and we were able to check in early and check out an hour late. The restaurant is nice for breakfast. The trendy, warm hotel vibes make you feel like youre stepping into another reality. I forgot about the harsh Ottawa winter and the boring surrounding business district buildings. Also, I could really enjoy myself and take a nap with my longtime friend on a staycation break from my kids!! Highly recommend.
Great place
One of the best new additions to the city of Ottawa, we had the most fabulous time. From the friendly and helpful staff to the stunning decor, we cant wait to come back again soon!
Good experience. Super friendly staff. Great location. Lovely lobby. Comfortable bed and pillows. Great gym. Solid wifi. Minor complaints only: The elevators ding constantly (like a truck backing up) for no reason and it can be heard in the rooms. The cafe has a very limited tea selection. The ventilation system is super loud.
Really nice hotel and friendly staff
Stayed here this weekend. Front desk told me they upgraded our room even though my husband booked for a king? When we asked about parking they never told us about a fee for valet. $42 dollars for one night of parking is just absolutely ridiculous. Rooms are extremely small. You can stay somewhere cheaper and just come to enjoy the restaurant that was also booked out and not available for hotel guest to make reservations.
Great experience and what can I say about the atmosphere. Everything is easily accessible and the restaurant is just as pleasant. Perfect for a stay in the city.
The boutique hotel is very nice. The amazing light court is surrounded by the rooms. My room isnt too big but the room is well organized and it has everything I need. It even has robes for the guests. There are 2 free bottle of water which is a nice touch. Wifi is a bit slow. There is a higher speeds one if you pay $10.
Great central location in the capital. In a word, the lobby is great and the rooms are spacious and equipped with all imaginable facilities. But the look inside is really an eye catcher. All very well laid out. Unfortunately short stay, but next time the choice will be difficult, The Metcalfe or the other two ;-). A small point. Response to emails is very slow or not at all. In the end, the manager (Kim) responded quickly to my email. For the rest, absolutely recommended.
Beautiful nice hotel like it
Booked a night at the Metcalfe Hotel with the Celebrate Love package. We were given a bottle of delicious sparkling wine and macaroons. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Front desk was accommodating and polite. Would stay again.
This was our second stay at the Metcalfe, and unfortunately it was not as good as the first. For a luxury property, the service was lacking. When we checked in we were told they upgraded us. When we arrived to our room, it was a classic king, exactly what we booked, no upgrade. They told our friends the same upgrade story, and they were also given a classic king. I have no idea what the upgrade means. Valet parking is very expensive for ottawa at $42 a day. When we went to retrieve our car upon check out we waited 25 minutes for the one employee they had working this area to retrieve it. We left our room at 11 am Saturday and left the please make up our room tag on the door. When we returned to our room around 330pm to get ready for an event, it still had not been serviced. When we left again it was cleaned, but no toiletries were restocked. The wifi was basically unusable in our room unless you upgraded to $10 a day faster speeds. This is a great property, but this is no where near the experience we received when we stayed here in November 2022.
Very elegant and beautiful hotel. Great lobby. Friendly and helpful staff. Had brunch at the Cocotte. Great meal with impeccable service. Will definitely be coming back. Fully recommend. Rooms: Elegant and beautiful rooms. Safety: Very beautiful area. Food and drinks: Great food and coffee at Cocotte.
This is my go-to hotel in Ottawa. Amazing location, and beautiful and comfortable rooms.
My stay was okay, but I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the amenities. The gym had some mold and lacked fresh air, which was a drawback. Moreover, the pillows were uncomfortable, affecting my sleep quality.
This hotel was exceptional! We stayed there for the weekend with my girlfriend and we had an amazing experience. Every single details has been though off thoroughly. The atrium is beautiful, the food was great and the people in reception are super welcoming and kind. Walkability: It is three blocks away from the parliament and next to one of the main streets with tons of restaurants.
Nice and modern hotel. Well located, lovely restaurant with a cozy French bistro atmosphere. Tasty food at a fair price. Comfortable and nicely decorated rooms. In a quiet part of the center close to all kinds of attractions.
The pillows are too soft but superb comfort and beautiful room
Excellent hotel. Would have given 5 stars but the AC in the room was hard to control. The fan speeds, had low, medium and high but it was either off or on full blast and it was somewhat noisy and irritating blowing on us as we were sleeping. Also in the morning it didnt seem to get cold but if we opened the door to the hallway, the hallway temperature was about 15° colder than the room. I did not mention to the front desk, Im sure they would have tried to address it the best they could but we were only there for one night and that was fine. Also, given the quality of the hotel, which was excellent, the bathroom could use more hooks to hang dirty or damp towels and possibly a magnifying mirror. The front clerk upon check in, I forget his name, I wish I remembered as he was excellent. Excellent. And beyond! The total staff was excellent. The location was excellent for us, in the center of every place we wanted to go. We did not eat there but everything looked top notch. I would definitely recommend and I would definitely look to go back there again.
Cute little bistro bar patio and dining Nearby activities: Museum, war memorial, pubs irish bars, public library across the metcalfe street, circle k, bmo bank, byward, cf rideau mall Walkability: Walk to public library, Parliament, museum Food and drinks: Good for a brunch trip near parliament s
Great staff! Pretty rooms but small. Its a great place. Restaurant in the lobby and Very well done lounge area as well.
The younger front desk boy is really nice and professional, he is awesome in doing his job !!
Ive been to the Cocotte Bistro and Metcalfe Hotel 3 separate times, the 1st to go on a site visit, the 2nd time to do a creative wedding styled shoot (business), and the third time to attend an intimate event. While I was there, each time I was greeted warmly, the rooms were clean, and the plants + decorations were calming and beautiful. There are inner rooms that overlook the atrium/lobby and there are rooms that face the street. Both are great options! If you need natural light, you can always see whats available and request it ahead of time. Ive attached photos of a few spots we used for our shoot that would be lovely for couples getting ready or having an intimate dinner, as well as photos of unique areas in the lobby. Theres an option of valet parking or youll have to plan ahead to park offsite at City Hall or another parking lot. Overall, I would definitely recommend the stay and heading to Cocotte for some yummy food, drinks, and coffee!
Ideal location and impeccable service.
Great hotel! Perfect location in Ottawa, great rooms and incredibly beautiful lobby & atrium. Very nice, courteous staff, would book there again at any time. Walkability: You can reach Parliament in 5 minutes.
Very comfortable room, the products smell like heaven!
Excellent hotel! Rooms
It was my first time in Ottawa and when I planned my weekend with friends and following the recommendation of a colleague I booked for 3 nights. When we arrived, the staff was efficient and took great care of us. The room was very beautiful and comfortable. A bed with a very comfortable mattress and quality bedding. I slept really well. I really enjoyed enjoying their restaurant le casserole. The experience and quality of the food is just fantastic and the service was worthy of a great restaurant. It is certain that in the future every time I come to Ottawa, whether for work or for vacation, I will come to the Metcalf hotel.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Metcalfe. The hotel lobby design is gorgeous. It is definitely the standout feature. The in hotel restaurant Cocotte is also beautifully designed although we didn t eat have a chance to try it out. The rooms were your basic modern style hotel room. They are clean and comfortable but do not stand out like the rest of the hotel design. Location is great. Easy walking distance to Parliament and all the downtown attractions. There was a mixup cleaning our room but when we mentioned it to the front desk they rectified the situation quickly. The room wifi was very slow when we first arrived. For $10/day you can upgrade. We didn t and found it was fine the rest of our stay. The design alone makes this place worth returning. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Hardwood floors!
The Metcalfe Hotel in downtown Ottawa is a stunning blend of beautiful design and exceptional comfort. The aesthetic appeal of the hotel is captivating, making it a visual delight for guests. The comfort level provided is top-notch, ensuring a truly relaxing stay. To top it off, the unexpected complimentary upgrade added an extra layer of luxury to the experience, making it even more memorable. Overall, a fantastic choice for a stay in downtown Ottawa.
Great Location& Service. Highly recommend.
Lovely hotel
Very friendly and helpful staff. Food is delicious. The hotel is super clean. Lunch is garlic mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, roasted chicken or steak spears. Rooms : 5/5
This was a fantastic place to stay. The room was big and had everything we could have wanted (smart TV with chromcast, USB chargers on lamps, nescafe coffee maker, BIG comfy bed and a nice shower). The lobby was stunning (we saw people taking wedding photos there!!) and they had games and amenities we didnt even get a chance to use, but it looked fun. Caleb at the front desk was SO helpful and he gave us top notch service. All in all, a really great stay!
What a prestine hotel! It was amazing. The only disadvantage, and it was only for me at the time, was that it was farther from where I was supposed to be, but it was actually the less expensive hotel but a much better quality hotel than the other places colleagues stayed. Id definitely stay there again. Walkability: About 10 minute walk to the core and 10 minute walk to Parliament
Visit the Cafe attached to the lobby. Wonderful Looby full of books that you can read, feels like a home den. Staff is very friendly and welcoming to those just visiting the Cafe. I am certain that it would be a nice place to stay. Food and drinks: The Cafe has a great bar and coffee selection. Looking forward to trying the interesting menu.
I was here for an event by CANFAR, and I really loved the atmosphere, interior design, and the food. Drinks were great too! The interior has some stylish furniture with beautiful lighting and design. - Great location; right in downtown. - Great interior design. - Great décor. Definitely coming here for more events in the future.
Excellent value and location in Ottawa. Clean and classy.
Great experience, valet parking was a big plus! Super friendly staff, very clean spacious rooms
Noem at the front desk saved my life! Despite a completely booked hotel he was able to get me in when we discovered Id booked the wrong dates. He didnt even break a sweat and was so nice all the while. Gorgeous but unfussy modern/old fashioned hotel. In love!
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Very clean room and the Cocotte Bistro restaurant is excellent!
Amazing hotel however bring your own pillows. Id give this place a 10 if I could overall but the pillows were unfortunately so uncomfortable. Which was odd because the bed was the comfiest ever. But as a hotel, sleep quality is also as important as aesthetic.
Stayed for an evening and booked the Celebrate Love package. We were so happy with our stay from our first greeting, to the rooms and departure. The hotel was quiet and relaxing, and just what we were looking for. Stunning hotel in the heart of downtown Ottawa. Thank you Metcalfe Hotel and staff for a lovely stay.
Had my birthday dinner at the Cocotte bistro. Great service (Thank you Kirsten) our dinner was very good. Planning to go back.
Excellent room. Staff nothing was too much trouble great customer care
WOW! Superb beautiful hotel, which has just been renovated in 2022. Warm welcome and attentive staff. Very comfortable and very clean room. From now on our next visit to Ottawa will be our hotel. Great location, close to everything. We were pleasantly surprised.
My brother and i stayed a night here. Very clean rooms. Very modern (love that there are USB ports on the bed head boards and throughout the room). Staff are friendly. Light continental breakfast. Location to downtown is fantastic; steps away from Slater St. (For casual dining). The only downfall of our stay was the restless sleeps my brother and i both had in each of our beds. The matresses are hard on the back. Maybe the mattresses are that new too?
The place is just beautiful. Great lounge, perfect room, warm service. Highly recommended. Thanks to all for a pleasant stay.
The entire Metcalfe Hotel team, from housekeepers to general manager were consistently friendly, engaged and tremendously helpful. Room upgrade - no problem. Extra chair for the room - of course! Complimentary bottle of Prosecco - thank you! Last minute additional night required - were full but well make it work! Discrepancy with room rates - made right! Couldnt ask for a better experience. Plus the hotel is beautiful. Super comfy beds, softest towels ever, excellent water pressure in the shower. Thanks Megan, Wafae, Alysha, Kim, Gillian and the rest of the Metcalfe team!
We just stayed at the Metcalfe for three nights (Oct 2022). What stood out for me was the personal service, the attention to detail and the commitment to quality displayed by all of the employees. The front desk remembered our room number, the hotel housekeeping staff were very friendly and every request we had was attended to promptly and accurately. The space is stunning, quaint yet also elegant, and the lobby and atrium are very welcoming. The rooms were beautiful, and we will definitely be back. A must stay hotel with a fantastic location.
Stopped in for new at the new restaurant. All the food was incredible. Then went on a tour of the hotel which was love the esthetic.
Beautiful styling, decently comfortable, but too much attention paid to visual appeal in their recent renovations, and not enough attention dedicated to the comforts of the space. The room was freezing cold when I arrived (11ºC outside) with the air conditioning running at 18.5ºC. It took over an hour for the room to heat up to a comfortable temperature from the tiny radiator. The luxury linens were nice, however the towels (despite being quite soft) shed a significant amount of lint that got all over my clothes, stuck to my body, and ended up all over the floors of my room. I appreciated the engineered hardwood floors (carpets are disgusting especially in hotels), but on the whole, the floor was quite cold especially the tile in the bathroom, which was frigid on my feet. They did provide spa slippers which were single size and certainly didnt fit my feet.
A cool building to be in. My last trip, it was exactly too cool the heat broke down but we were not told this until checkout time.
Nowhere did they state that the restaurant was closed for renos when making the booking... this was for a business trip and I would be spending alot of time working from the room/hotel.... so definitely was a bother having to go out or get skip instead of room service/in-hotel dining... the continental breakfast they did have was a joke... literally baked goods from costco... no chair/desk in the room I was given except for some weird platform in the corner that served no purpose. Amazing staff though.
Metcalfe Hotels service was outstanding! When my originally booked hotel was not suitable, they were able to accommodate a last minute booking for me and an early check in to work with my schedule. Upon check out, I received a wake up call and they had my check out complete and a cab waiting when I arrived in the lobby. Amazing service, clean rooms, modern amenities, individual climate control and a very good price point. Will 100% recommend and definitely stay here again!
what a gem. everything was terrific. bistro breakfast was amazing. we had a terrific staycation! Rooms
Very nice boutique hotel in a great location. The staff were extremely attentive and accommodating. Its going to be my new place to stay while in Ottawa!
Beautiful hotel, great service, very central, with valet parking. Cocotte bistro in the lobby is great as well
Went there for my birthday, and it was a great time. Best cake ever, food is amazing and the staff are super nice and friendly.
Very disappointed by how the hotel manages booking. My reservation was cancelled, month after having made it and my trip planned. Now apologies or reason given. No alternatives given as well. Its easy for them to screw up a customer trip, because now I have to find something different but last minute prices are not anymore the same in Ottawa area. Only for this reason, which creates positive stress (where as in holidays you want to relax) I would avoid this hotel ! First time in 10 years trip it happens to me such a case !
This was hands down one of the most beautifully decorated rooms we have ever stayed in. The hotel is in a great, convenient location. Beautiful hotel. We would stay again and would recommend to anyone looking for something better than average.
Another beautiful hotel and food was great!
Good location, reasonable price, good service, pleasant decor
Excellent
Beautiful hotel. Very comfortable
Amazing customer service! We had forgotten an expensive sweater in our room and realized a few days later, called the hotel and it was mailed to us and arrived the next day. Hotel is clean, rooms are beautiful, friendly and helpful staff. Will be using this hotel for all our Ottawa visits
Beautiful and well kept hotel. Quiet and serene right downtown Ottawa.
Nice hotel with a great lobby design, and layout. The location is great too, quick walk down the street from Parliament, and not a far walk away from Byward Market. The front desk was helpful and friendly, they gave some good suggestions on places to eat, and the best time to go certain attractions. One reason was parking, it is a really tiny fit in the underground parking and a bit of a maze of elevators and walking to get to the hotel (the underground is shared with another hotel). Also, the entrance/exit to the underground parking is a tight 1 lane.
Alright
The rooms look exactly as on their website. Cozy and modern. The hotel was not over crowded and as soon as you stepped in, this nice cozy boutique hotel vibe felt like home. Junior greeted us and took the time to explain the facilities with a nice smile. The king room was clean, located on top floor as we requested and bathroom looked chic like on the website. We requested a late check out and they were nice enough to accomodate us. The only time where we felt like the hotel was outdated was when we visited the gym and pool :/ . My fiance worked for gym equipment/ machines and the ones Metcalfe hotel carries in their gym is almost 15 yrs old ! The pool was not really clean, the towels at the pool were old and the jaccuzi had so much hair and particules of skin or what not ... nice clean modern rooms with a nice walk in shower (showerheads must be replaced for real spa like rainshower showerhead). The amenities such as shampoo, bodywash and soap were really small considering two guests were going to spend the night and towels in room felt old and kind of small for a body towel. The pool area needs to be upgraded and kept clean and safe for guests. There was water everywhere on ceramic and towels laying around on chairs even on the floor. The staff is suuuuper nice and friendly, the hotel needs a little upgrade. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay :)
Central location steps to Parliament. Great design.
The hotel was running under Indigo Ottawa. They rebranded as The Metcalf. Compare to the ex-Indigo Hotel, the quality has decreased and the price has increased.
I stayed at the Metcalfe Hotel when it was the Indigo Hotel and the new remodel is beautiful! The hotel got a much needed facelift and the rooms are very comfortable. The staff in the lobby are very accommodating and friendly. Definitely would stay here again if I find myself in Ottawa! Close proximity to downtown, the tourist areas and some really nice restaurants.
