At Dosa and Curries, discover South Indian cuisine from a scrumptious selection of dosas to biryanis made with the finest of spices. Easy on the stomach and great on the tastebuds, the menu here caters to all age groups who are looking for food that will linger in their mouth and minds.
A very nice place for South Indian cuisine. Tried twice in last 3 months n they never let me down. Dosa and Indo Chinese are worth trying. Great food Great people right in downtown Ottawa .
Ordered Masala Dosas for take out. The timing was great, very quick delivery via Door Dash. Big sized dosas. The Sambar tastes authentic with good amount of veggies. 3 different counties, coconut, cilantro, tomato , all tasted very good. Packing was good too. One dosa is priced at 11.99, a little pricey I would say, but the taste and convenience of door delivery offsets that. We were starving after a long journey and this order appeased us. I am eager to try out their other items with a dine-in experience.
Their food has always been great. Been there a few times now. Onion ravioli paper dosa and chicken 69 have been my favorite so far at this restaurant.
I visited Dosa & Curries based on the positive reviews I had read online, but my experience didn’t quite match the high expectations set. We ordered both plain dosa and ghee dosa to get a sense of their offerings. Starting with the plain dosa, it was decent. It had a crispy texture and was well-seasoned, and the accompanying chutney was flavorful. However, the ghee dosa, which I was particularly excited about, fell short of my expectations. It was essentially the same as the plain dosa, with little to no noticeable difference in terms of ghee. This was quite disappointing, as I had anticipated a richer, more buttery taste. On a positive note, the dosa and chutney were well-prepared and tasted good, but the lack of distinction between the plain and ghee dosa was a letdown. If you're looking for a more authentic experience where the ghee dosa stands out, this might not be the place. But we will definitely visit soon to again try ghee dosa.
This is one of the go-to places for tasting South Indian dishes. They make excellent dosas that are incredibly delicious. However, the biggest concern was the wait time. We arrived hungry but had to wait over 45 minutes, which made us restless. My 7-year-old was so hungry that after 45 minutes, we had to ask them to at least serve us a plain dosa. Our order finally arrived, and the food was delicious. The wait time is the only downside; otherwise, there's nothing to complain about. Parking might be an issue here. The location is near a busy road, and parking is available in a paid parking area. There are machines that issue parking tickets, charging $1.75 per 30 minutes. However, we didn't use it as parking was free on the weekends, if I'm not mistaken.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Dosa and Curry, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience that surpassed all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and excellent hospitality, setting the tone for a memorable meal. The staff at Dosa and Curry truly understand the essence of good customer service. They were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure that every guest felt welcomed and satisfied. Whether it was refilling our glasses or suggesting dishes from the menu, their attention to detail was impeccable. Now, let’s talk about the food – the heart of any dining experience. The menu at Dosa and Curry is a delightful mix of South Indian and North Indian cuisines, and each dish is crafted to perfection. I started with their signature masala dosa, which was crispy on the outside and filled with a perfectly spiced potato mixture. The accompanying coconut chutney and sambar were fresh and flavorful, complementing the dosa beautifully. Next, I tried the paneer tikka masala and garlic naan, which were absolutely delicious. The paneer was soft and the gravy was rich and creamy, with just the right amount of spice. The naan was warm, buttery, and a perfect vehicle for soaking up the gravy. Every bite was a burst of flavor, making it evident that the chefs take great pride in their culinary skills. The environment at Dosa and Curry is another highlight. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, creating a pleasant ambiance that’s perfect for a relaxed meal. The soft lighting and comfortable seating made it an ideal place to chill with friends. We spent hours enjoying our food and conversation without feeling rushed, thanks to the inviting atmosphere. Moreover, Dosa and Curry is a fantastic spot for social gatherings. Whether you’re looking to catch up with friends over a leisurely lunch or enjoy a cozy dinner with family, this restaurant provides the perfect setting. The noise level is just right – not too loud, allowing for easy conversation. In summary, Dosa and Curry excels in every aspect of a great dining experience – from their good hospitality and customer service to their tasty food and inviting environment. It's a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy quality time with friends while indulging in some of the best Indian cuisine around. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience.
The food was delicious. We got boneless chicken biryani; the biryani rice was delicious, but the boneless chicken was fried separately and put on the rice, which did not have the biryani taste and should have been mentioned. We also had dosa, which was very tasty, but the only negative point was that it was too greasy. The environment of the restaurant was good, and the staff were very friendly.
Amazing food and service. The staff was extremely friendly and had a pleasant South Indian vibe. Overall I will recommend this place to anyone who is looking for South Indian food.
Professional staff.
Amazing food amazing stuff we loved the place
The worst Indian food experienced in whole Ottawa. Biriyani doesn t seems fresh and it was too oily. Masala dosa was just ok, but it was hard to digest.
Awesome place to have South Indian food
Vegetarian options: Rava masala onion dosa, ghee masala dosa, fried rice, paneer butter masala Food
I found the food to be less than average. Decent pricing and portions but the food quality wasn t there.
I went to the restaurant to order take out. The woman was kind and helped me make a choice amongst their dosa selection. The food was fresh, tasty, and the portion was generous. I liked the chili garlic dosa. It was my first time trying that type of dosa. I had no expectations but I liked the fried garlic. The mango lassi was good too. I believe they gave me an extra little bowl of dhal. I would highly recommend.
Food was delicious and authentic ethnic food. Tasty butter chicken made differently. Dosa, coffee, an tea were also good.
Taste is authentic and recommend, my pick is Thattu idli and sambhar with Madras coffee
Too much oil in dosa. And the sambar wasnt good at all. I dont recommend to go after 9pm. Worst biryani ever
Excellent dosa in the city center. Fast service.
Fantastic
New Review Oct 2024: The setting area became even untidy than before; the seats have foods as well. Be careful when you sit. Tried the Chilli Cheese Masala Dosa, it was delicious. It s worth to have dosa here even if the place may not be the cleanest. For vegetarians this is a perfect place to be. For food I need to give better ratings this time. Old Review 2022: Paneer 65 was amazing 5/5; price is $14.95 Lamb kothu was something I would not recommend; price $19.50 (very expensive and not tasty at all) The ambiance is not tidy, tables were kept untidy after the customers left. Very relaxing customer service; so overall it was an average experience. Vegetarian options: Always for for veg dosa, many options and simply delicious
Good
Good authentic taste! Loved it
Wheelchair accessibility: No Food
Their dosas, sambhar and medhu wada were really good!
Was super excited to try this place as I have been going around the city trying different dosa spots. We arrived and there were only two other customers in the restaurant. The floors were dirty and the customer service lacking. I was ready to overlook this in hopes the food may be the redeeming quality. I was let down severely with the taste. I had ordered the ghee paper masala dosa. The dosa itself and the sambhar was EXTREMELY SALTY. My partner ordered the chicken tikka masala dosa and the chicken was very dry and also another salt bomb. Out of all the dosa places in the city this one is a hard ZERO. I suggest looking at other restaurants to eat.
According to Google, this place does not close after lunch, showing the place is continuously open. We traveled a good 20 km to get here around 3 PM on a Sunday & were denied service saying we are open only after 4 PM even though there is a sign blinking outside the window saying OPEN either change your timings in Google or serve clients who take the effort to come to your place.
Good food and I feel Like I am in India . Great atmosphere.
The food is extremely delicious here and I would definitely advice others to try and their service is the best too
Five star service, staff are extremely friendly & prompt, place is open late, lots of vegetarian options, and food is very affordable & delicious! One of the best south Indian food & dosa places in the NCR region! Highly recommend!!
What a fantastic authentic restaurant this is. Dosa to die for and well seasoned meats and rice. A hidden gem! Vegetarian options: Plenty on offer
I tried the Masala Dosa and Ghee Roast . The service and Ambiance was great . Would recommend others to try South Indian dishes . I will come back for sure for the biriyani. The atmosphere resembles the restaurants back from India . 10/10 experience.
There was so much of hype esp the reviews i read. I ordered chili cheese masala dosa and requested to make it spicy.it wasnt spicy, infact was over loaded with cheese:( Not bad though but was not a wow. Masala chai was good.
Stopped by for some takeout after work. Best butter chicken I have ever had! :-)
Excellent food the best dosa we have ever had in Ottawa. The person who served us was attentive and served us well!
We went for lunch on a weekday. We were the only customers, and ordered easy to prepare standard South Indian items. It took over 20 minutes to arrive, and the vada was under cooked, bloated and needlessly large. The chutney served was a spoon ful or so, hardly sufficient for the breakfast platter I ordered. I last visited this place about an year ago and it was definitely not this bad. I have to think twice before coming again or recommending it to others. The only thing I liked is the ambience and the Tamil songs playing in the background. Vegetarian options: Lot of vegetarian options. Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible.
Good place
Ordered ghee masala dosa and was tasty
It was
Does this place ever disappoint ??? Never !!!! I was so hungry last night and had the GHEE PAPER MASALA DOSA such a hugeeeee dosa with melting ghee wow at 10$ it s a steal!!
Food was exceptional
Authentic Chennai food at a reasonable price. This is a must stop place if you are in Ottawa! Dosas are awesome, but the biggest surprise was the kothu parotta, which reminded me of Chennai. Food
Best South Indian dosa and curries
Sorry to say the Biryani is the worst I have tasted... Its more like a pulao. . .rice with lots of raw Onion ....What a shame to Indian cuisine is this???? Please focus only on South Indian food
Yumilicious , very fresh, made with care for allergies and just perfect. One of the best South Indian fares in Ontario. Keep it up! :) Dietary restrictions: Vegan /Gluten free
Loved the lamb dosa. Very authentic. Enjoyed fresh vada with sambhar. True to Indian taste. Highly recommend to desi out in Ottawa.
Best south indian restaurant in Ottawa
Food was tasty and dosa is actually good than other restaurant
Best South Indian food in ottawa, excellent service, specifically very friendly honour and staff as well. Must visit this place ever n ever.
Best South Indian cuisines in OTTAWA!
The food is very delicious! Dont miss to try the sweets. All food tastes like home made.
Dosa s are really good at this spot, I tried utappam with 3 chutneys and sambar, They should add sambar rice on to their menu as sambar is really good at this spot
Good food and good service.
Food was really good. We had dosa, noodles and briyani. Dosa and Noodles were good on Indian style but briyani was not so good. The staff service was very ignorant and they didn t even care to ask for the order (as they were busy with munching their snacks , talking to a Asian customer and scrolling through their mobile phones) Cleanliness needs attention and service needs improvement.
We have tried their dosas and the taste was awesome and also their sambhar was delicious.
Vegetarian options: Im a regular at Dosa and Curries. Their dosas are very delicious and authentic, and I always look forward to my next visit. The vegetarian options are also varied, and I enjoy trying new dishes alongside my usual dosa order. If youre a fan of South Indian cuisine or just looking for a great vegetarian meal, Dosa and Curries is a must-visit.
Nice and friendly place to have dinner
Authentic South Indian cuisine must try !
Amazing place to have food.
The food was very good and well priced. The server, however, was terrible. He was unskilled in customer service, and hard to get a hold of. I had to get up to find him more than once. Terrible with table setting up. No utensils, water, napkins, without asking. Ultimately, I got up and went and got my own stuff. So, I highly recommend this place for their food and pricing, but, do not go for the service. Yikes.
Excellent food. Loved it.
Very nice food and good ambience
We had visited this restaurant when we visited Ottawa. The place is so filthy and dirty. The seat had sambhar on it. The floor needed sweeping and mopping.. Hope the city sites them and makes them more hygienic. The sambhar came cold and they brought same back after heating in microwave.
Amazing food and service. The staff was extremely friendly and the restaurant definitely had a South Indian vibe!
Had a delicious dosa breakfast. Fresh and very tasty. Lots of options on the menu, many vegetarian options. Hearty and filling and very reasonable prices. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options.
I m disappointed with the hospitality of this place as I visited last night with a few friends of mine around 7:30pm.Online the website shows they are open till 11pm but when I went to the restaurant, their door was locked and the staff were on their phones. I tried knocking but nobody bothered to come and open the door or let us know if they are not operating. Yesterday wasn t a special holiday or any occasion so there wasn t any reason to assume why they wouldn t be operating. This happened once before and I assumed that it was the week day and they closed early only to come home and check on google that they are open till 11pm.i wanted to give them the benefit of doubt and visit again but It s sad that the staff isn t trained well on hospitality and are unbothered to cater if there aren t many people. Not going to bother trying this place ever again.
The first time I ordered a dosa from uber, the quality was sufficient for 1 person but the second time I went in the store for a pickup the sambar & coconut chutney s quantity was not sufficient for 4 person. Otherwise the food tastes good.
Ordered a large takeaway order for a birthday party, and they surpassed expectations. The food was fresh and delicious, plentiful, and excellent value.
Great atmosphere with Indian touch. Loved the food.
Mysore Masala Dosa is most recommended one. It was really good Nice place and good service Food : 5/5
Excellent service and yummy food. We had Masala Dosa, Plain Dosa and Idli
Best South Indian food in downtown best sambar
Amazing food at reasonable prices.
Experience with the food was worst, they don t know how to make daal tadka, size of naan is very small and charged $65 just for daal, dosa and gobi
The food is good, but the service is awful. Its like they dont care about their customers. Kitchen closing times vary day to day. Quite unprofessional
Amazing food delicious and really good customer service suggest that you guys should come here for lunch dinner and everything
Super food like home Vegetarian options: Great chutney Food : 5/5 |
Food quality is just eatable not at all good or wow taste. Drinking water has stink of algae. Very unhygienic place. Dirty food spilled tables even after pointing it was not cleaned. Not Recommended
Ive frequented D&C since moving to Ottawa and Im happy with the food, service, and the atmosphere. Its a cozy place for casual dining. Decorated with a South Indian and Hinduism inspired theme, the ambience includes South Indian films and wonderful music from South Asia. The Dosas are a good size, delectable, and worth the price. Go for the Idly if on a budget. I started to prefer milder and less sweetness, and they are accommodating of that. The sambar has a kick. Also on the spicier side, the biryanis come in a great amount, are delectable, and worth the price. The service by the waiting hosts is friendly and unrushed. The fellow who works there is knowledgeable and willing to provide suggestions based on preferences. They dont serve alcohol, which changes the atmosphere, which I prefer. Keep up the good work! Would recommend!
Good place to eat
The best and worth the price !!! Just a plate of vada will be sufficient for hungry tummy. Quantity is great!
The best south indian tiffins you can get in ottawa. The taste and quantity is amazing and it s very much worth for the money.
Mysore masala was really good; enjoyed the sambhar; server was very helpful in choosing the right dosas
The food was 8/10 but the staff were very friendly. Have street parking right in front. Food
Come try the next level food and ambience experience.
The food is very delicious n service is awesome. I would highly recommend this place to everyone
Best dosa in town.
Good food, discounts on tuesdays and Thursday good atmosphere
An absolute gem of a place. Delicious, fresh and affordable.
Great food
They accomodated our big group very welcomingly. We had dosa, idli, vada and everything was so delicious. Authentic flavors and vintage South Indian cinematic vibes. Although the waiting time for the food to be served was more, but worth it. Washrooms were not that clean.
Loved the food and service!
Crunchy, flavorful, and utterly delicious, the dosas at this restaurant are a must-try! The perfect blend of spices and herbs, combined with a generous filling, made for a truly satisfying meal. Highly recommended for Indian food lovers!
Good food and great service
Good food, good service, good ambiance
Great food and quality service
I had the worst Experience ordering online today. I recommend you dont order from this restaurant. They dont deliver what they mention in the menu, they only deliver what is available. Nobody called me to inform me as well that what I ordered (3pcs Idli was not available. I only have one Idli and Sambhar added on top of it. Never ordering again.
i was a great experience . especially dosas are too good
Update- Ended up getting dosas after almost an hour. Coconut chutney was clearly diluted, mint kinda chutney has gone bad. The audacity to even tell us that the review is biased is what baffles me the most. Wish I could give no stars at all. Worst of the worst service. Never knew it would take 40 mins to just give us idlis made in the morning. The person serving us doesn t even speak up and we can hardly hear him. No way you know when your food is gonna come on to the table. If you are really hungry just stay away from here. For 2 dosas, 1 plate idli vada, rasam and rice it is taking more than 40 mins. Mind you I m writing this review while I still patiently wait for my food. Taste of the food is normal nothing special. I strongly believe the high stars here is just review bombed ! Left the place highly disappointed!
Food is okay. We liked their red chutney. Service is a little slow. I guess not many staff is there. They don t have AC. It was too hot inside and I couldn t finish my meal. My heart started beating rapidly because of the hotness inside the restaurant. Just a heads up if anyone likes sweet mango lassi - Mango lassi is sour, not sweet. The girl working there is sweet and helpful
Love this place, been coming here for 2 years and the dosa is so authentic & good quality! Kind staff always :)
Food is amazing
Only thing that had some taste was lemon .
Best staff, best south indian food, best Sambar
One of the best south indian restaurant in Ottawa.dosa and paneer curry was ultimate I would recommend this for veg and non veg food. Biryani kuskha rice was nice, parotta and naan - perfect
Was craving a dosa while in town and found this little gem. Everything we ordered was tasty and fresh. Just happened to catch their Tues 9.99 Dosa deal!! Pay double in TO now for the same meal, will def be back:)
Excellent food
This is the best restaurant food I ve had since coming to Ottawa. I had the veg kothu parotta and it was spectacular. The prices are amazing for downtown, the atmosphere is lovely, and the food is excellent. If I had to eat at one restaurant for the rest of my life it would be this one. Adi poli!
Great food and fast service. Atmosphere is excellent - just heard some random dude ranting about the Roman emperor Constantine in the background. Price is also very reasonable.
Best dosas in the city, definitly worth a visit for their dosa special
Really zen atmosphere, been here a dozen times and the food is always perfect perfectly crispy Dosas and the apps are out of this world. Medhu vada and Chicken 65 are my go to! The server is also super nice and attentive. Helpful recommendations.
Pooja is very nice and welcoming great service
Nice service,good food
We tried sambhar idli and dosa was super squishy and delicious
Amazing South Indian food and we really like the service. Highly recommend restaurant for Dosa cravings.
For the price, I think this place is amazing! We order a dosa and biryirni - the portion was very generous (i had some left to bring home) and the taste was delicious! I will definitely come back :)
I loved my curry dish and my partner a Dosa, it was super good! The service is great and the atmosphere is cozy. If youre looking for a good, quiet restaurant thats not expensive and also has a lot of vegetarian choices, this is the place!
Fell in love with the ambience and food. Very good Interior and decor. Travelled all the way from Windsor, Ontario. The best place to relax, food and affordable.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Dosa & Curries, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. I ordered the Chicken Dum Biryani and the Sambhar Idli, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. Chicken Dum Biryani: The Chicken Dum Biryani was a standout. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with the spices blending harmoniously to create a rich and aromatic dish. The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection, and the rice was fluffy and flavorful. Each bite was a delight, and it s clear that a lot of care and expertise went into preparing this dish. Sambhar Idli: The Sambhar Idli was equally impressive. The idlis were soft and had the perfect texture, while the sambhar was flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The combination of the soft idlis soaked in the savory sambhar made for a comforting and satisfying meal. Overall, my experience at Dosa & Curries was fantastic. The food was of high quality, bursting with authentic flavors, and the service was friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious and authentic Indian cuisine. I ll definitely be returning soon!

I really enjoyed the food and the place. The coconut chutney and the sambhar were especially really good. They are really generous with the fillings in the dosas and the portions. Highly recommend! :)
