Indoor air quality is poor, kitchen smoke, tandoor smoke not ventilated. Eaten here several times. Tonights smoke was dreadful. Summer patio is fine, but won t return in winter. Otherwise good. If ventilation improves, Ill happily upgrade this review!

The buffet for dinner had a large selection of items to satisfy anyone s appetite. The food was very flavourful. The service was excellent. The decoration is cozy and warm.

Best butter chicken, Nan bread and Gulab jamon I had so far! Although the vegetarian dishes lacked some flavor but overall pretty satisfied. The waiter was pretty professional, although when I walked in he kinda gave me the vibe that I was in the wrong place lol idk why. I kinda felt under dressed. I was wearing a hoodie and trousers.

I recently booked East India Company Restaurant for a gathering of about 30 people to celebrate Diwali evening, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and took care of every detail. Ronak and Nischay, in particular, provided exceptional service throughout the night, ensuring all our guests were comfortable and well-attended to. we ordered buffet. veg food was of continental taste, less preferred by Indians but non veg was different and good.

The food is pretty good, but far too much oil is used in the dishes it s not like anyone expects health food here, but there s so much oil you can always see it pooling and it s really unappetizing and unnecessarily unhealthy. You could cut down on the oil and the food would still taste as good. Thank you kindly. Waiters are nice, but the restaurant is quite dark and hard to see. I enjoy the desserts, very good Chana masala here. Would like to see some more rotation and new dishes on the selection. Overall definitely worth a try, it can just be a bit difficult to eat because the food is so heavy with oil and salt, an unnecessary excess used in my opinion and same with others I ve eaten with here, everyone agrees, so I hope it s noted by owners Kid-friendliness: Always see families with kids here, nothing is really spicy so even young kids with more limited tastes and tolerances can find things they like. Especially the desserts However note that there are bones in just about every meat dish, including the chicken biryani which has little bones. Only the butter chicken and some beef dishes are boneless

This is our go-to place for butter chicken and naan! We have been ordering from East India Company, or eating at the buffet, for over 10 years now and is consistently good quality, nice staff, and a clean buffet. Thank you to this family run establishment in Ottawa - definitely give them a try! Extra note: I have colleagues from India who come to Ottawa and request to go here for a taste of home during longer stays.

Anish and his family have made this restaurant the finest of its type, in Ottawa. The food is delicious and of incomparable quality and the service is second-to-none. 20 years of dining here have made me a loyal patron. The East India Company has no peer!

This was my wife and Is 20th anniversary, and traditionally we enjoy Indian food for our celebrations. This was our first visit to the East India company restaurant, from the moment we walked in the door, the gentleman who greeted us was very pleasant, and polite. Our servers were very friendly, enjoyed a good conversation and very prompt with refills of our drinks. The angry chicken, and spicy cauliflower were my two favorite dishes as they were very delicious! Overall though the variety of dishes was very nice, delicious and fresh! Will most definitely return when we come back to Ottawa! Thanks for a great meal!

Tash was an excellent host. We were new to this restaurant and he gave us a very authentic experience. His recommendation and service with care was greatly appreciated. We would highly recommend people to this restaurant and we will be back again. The management was clear and careful with our dietary needs. We went for buffet here. Food is below average. 90% of the stuff was not good and some of it was stale. And chef was rude and impolite to talk with. We did not each much and left hungry. It was waste of money

Excellent quality food in the buffet. Great variety, fresh and hot food and full of taste. Desserts were amazing especially the ghevar. Very polite staff. Taash, the manager, was excellent in catering to our needs and questions, high quality hospitality. RK from Dehradun (India) made hot crispy butter naans. The overall experience was wonderful. Overall the buffet was enjoyable. The service was really good and the food was tasty. What stopped it from being a five star experience was that some of the food was not hot and only lukewarm at best. This is a flag, as food kept in chafing dishes should be kept at a much warmer temperature.

Excellent food with very good service in the heart of Ottawa. Buffet was quite good.

The atmosphere was ok but the food went downhill. Nothing had flavour or seasoning. The options were limited for vegetarians and as an example the Palak paneer was soo watery with the spinach not well processed. The only redeeming point was the tandoori chicken and the fresh naan but still the chicken was full of bones and shards or bone. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Sai served us and fankly this was one of the better tasting indian food places in the area that ive had. He recommended the buffet and we all took him up in it, it was delicious. Fresh made naan bread right at the bar, competitive pricing. Every buffet item was a good,unique and polished

Felt like restaurant is trying to target local customers as food was very mild in terms of all spices. I won t suggest those who are looking for Indian taste. Deserts were delicious though. Didn t like that for unlimited did you are charging $30 something but it only includes plain naan. ( you are supposed to pay extra for garlic/ butter naan )

Staled Dal Makhni was severed and when, I asked for a change chef NITIN MEHRA may be an Owner had misbehaved in such a way that I got astonished. According to him I ate Dal Makhni, first time in my life. In my suggestion don t visit this pathetic restaurant ever and don t spoil your HARD EARNED MONEY! Well, NITIN MEHRA says he don t care about the negative reviews as well!

Wonderful food and excellent service. Worth visiting this place for sure. Reservations recommended to get your spot booked for dining in. It s located in downtown so a very few parking spots(hardly for 7-8 cars) available if you come by your car. Paid parking is very expensive.

Well thought upon second visit it taste so much better. Sadly was wrong. No spice what so ever, except salt or MSG.Nan was dried out. Only good thing was the Coca Cola I order that was in the can. Needed to use the washroom and of course the stall was locked. In my opinion save your money. Total waste of money for not great quality. Just plain gross. My partner loves Indian food even he thought it was horrible. We shall not be going back.

The service and food was good. Not to spicy and not to sweet. They got it correct.

The food was below average for an Indian restaurant. Indian flavours were missing. Naan breads were very thick and fluffy, taste like a giant maida bite. Naan baking is a specific art and did not like there thick breads. Butter chicken was a disappointment, may be there chef need to visit delhi, to taste how an actual butter chicken tastes. Other dishes were average, nothing to return for Would give this buffet place a No in our next visit to Ottawa.

We were passing through today, we checked the comments on Google and we left. I dont regret having chosen it, the food is impeccable, the service top notch (served by the gentlemen sai) to do again one day. THANKS

The only thing I would recommend to the restaurant (its not necessarily negative but constructive feedback), is to be more specific of what comes with the meal in the description, because there was no mention of having rice with the meals so I ordered Naan to have something to eat with and finally I receive Naan and a huge container of rice, which was basically thrown away...

Really not good and expensive for what it is. I dont advise.

I really loved this place. First time visiting here, the atmosphere was great, the server was great, the food was amazing and in good variety. Since the food was so good I ended up over eating. Unlike many other desi places it was clean and not smelling like cooking oils and spices. Prices were reasonable. Conveniently located. I will be visiting again soon.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This restaurant is probably the worst I ve ever been to. Tasteless food and stupidly expensive pricing. Who even charges for Naan in a buffet? They don t even mention that naan comes with additional price. The so called Pulao is nothing but dried turmeric rice with dry vegetables and not to mention it is kept on a parchment paper. Who does that? Stay away from this place and save your money. I would at least expect the food to be fresh for a Saturday night but nope.. it was stale, old and tasteless.

The food here is delicious, with vegetarian and non vegetarian options while having so many different choices to choose from! Service is great and very interactive. The music paired with the architecture and artifacts really makes an atmosphere that s worth visiting.

The food here is excellent. High quality and very flavourful. Staff are well kept and kind. I had their lunch buffet and was able to try all kinds of dishes and would recommend this for any newcomers to Indian cuisine. My only gripe would be the lack of information on buffets on the website and the pricing.

The service was EXCELLENT (the staff are so friendly and warm) and the buffet options were great! The lamb curry was extra delicious and we really appreciated the wide variety of food that was offered!

Great food, great people! Its always a treat when I get take out from East India Company. Apart from being the best Indian food in Ottawa, the order is always accurate when it arrives. Its the first place Ive ordered from that didnt make a mistake. I also appreciate the attention to detail and thought that go into everything, like the sturdy paper bag your order arrives in. I highly recommend one of their cooking classes, going to be making one of the dishes I got the recipe for later this week!

They have a beautiful buffet that is replenished very regularly to ensure freshness. However this time we ordered of the menu. The dal makhani was great, a solid garlic Naan but the eggplant bharta was the star of the evening. Incredibly rich in flavourful, served warm and obviously freshly prepared. Amazeballs. Vegetarian options: Tons to choose from.

I strongly recommend this restaurant for its nutritious food. Spices are good, and they cook with less oil. It is almost daily that I have their meals as I dont usually cook food. As a vegetarian, I dont find many good options, but I personally feel like I got homemade food here. Coconut korma sauce is also delicious. All vegetarian dishes are superb, delicious It is my pleasure to thank all members of the staff for their excellent service.

This was sooo amazing. The food was incredible but the experience itself stands out. Our server Mathew was phenomenal. We were here for our anniversary as a treat, and it was great. Mathew walked through all the food, gave suggestions and great descriptions and was exceptional. 10/10, must visit.

Me and my girlfriend ate dinner here on a Monday and it was awesome, the staff we super friendly the food was delicious and the daily special was super fun. Our server Matthew gave us a walk through of all the food before we ate and came by through out the meal making sure we were all goog

Bad service rude chefs

The chef (white dress with a tattoo)was very rude to an Uber driver, and called the police on him for literally nothing( He was talking on the phone with his mom and all he was saying is ok mom, yes mom and he wasn t loud at all!!! , and the guy asked him to hung up or cancel the order, and when he refused they called the police lmao, and while talking to the cops he said his being agressive which is not true at all) I used to order from you every week or two and respect you a lot, but after this I will never go back to your restaurant, that was disgusting

Great buffet for only $21.99. There were lots of options for both meat and vegetarian dishes. There was a pani puri station that the chef says changes depending on the time of the day.

Oustanding Indian restaurant ! Ive only tried the lunch buffet so far, and I was impressed by the vast variety of food. Everything was freshly cooked, very fragrant and delicious.

Do not waste your money, go somewhere else. $75 with tax for 2 people without any drinks. Food is recycled from day before, chicken tikka not cooked and without any taste. Another place will not last long.

This place was really good, Im not sure why Ive never been here before. There is so much selection its really hard to decide what you want to try. All of the food I tried was delicious, and LOTS of vegetarian options which we appreciated. They also label the food that allows people with dietary restrictions to easily read if its safe for them to eat. I also really appreciated that there wasnt really loud music blaring which seems to be a theme at most restaurants now. It was nice to be able to have a conversation without yelling at each other. 10/10 would recommend and we are definitely coming again.

The food here is just terrible. Bland, boring, flavourless. Worst rice I have ever had at an Indian restaurant. Naan bread was like cardboard. Chicken was overcook and very tough. Avoid.

Don t opt for their buffet. You can taste that food is stale and off. Seems like they recycle the food multiple times. My wife has been vomiting since yesterday. They should hire a chef who takes responsibility of the quality of food they are serving rather than someone who is trying to save money by over recycling the food. No complaints about service, it was great but food is way way sub standard.

It was hard to find parking

I went on a Wednesday afternoon for a team lunch. Food was very good. They had a salad spread, desert spread, quick bites and an array of rice and sides both veg and non-veg. Breads and wine are not part of the package. Price was really good for the variety and quality of food we got. The team enjoyed the spread! Unfortunately no pics were taken. Hope this helps! We went without a reservation on a Saturday which also happened to be Diwali. We probably waited 15 minutes, but it was well worth it. The buffet was lovely, so many great options. The owner was so nice and chatted with us before leaving. It was a highlight of our trip to Ottawa and we will eat here again of returning to the city.

A staple in the downtown core, have been eating here for decades. Their buffet has always been enjoyable as they have a large selection of tasty food to choose from, lots of seating if you are in a group, the service is friendly/helpful and the decor is amazing with the mandap near the entrance (its a 4 pillared structure).

We opted for a Lunch buffet which cost us around $23 (including taxes). All of the items were pretty decent, no complaints at all. Stars of the show were Tandoori Chicken, Veggie Korma, Lamb Curry and Chana masala. I really wished they put a biriyani as well removing the plain basmati. Also if the butter chicken gravy was thickened a bit, it would be a hit. The vegetarian options were pretty high but instead of 2 items they could put another non-veg kabab. The desserts were amazing for sure. Do try the Gulab Jamun. All in all its a decent deal for the money. Might visit again!

East India Company is my absolute favourite restaurant! The food is always amazing and the Naan bread is out of this world delicious! The service is always excellent I come here often and have always had an excellent experience. By far the best Indian restaurant I have been to.

The food lacks any flavor

We went for the lunch buffet which was very fairly priced. Fantastic food selection, many vegetarian options. We ordered garlic Naan and it paired delishiously with the sauces from the buffet. The Korma especially was a hit for me. We did some back and fourth from our seats to the buffet a few times, the beautiful decor up front did interfere a little bit when we walked around with full plates. It wasnt at all busy, but I imagine if the place was full, anyone a little clumsy could spill around that tight spot. Overall a very good place and will be visiting again for that amazing vegetable Korma!

Go here. The meat was tender. The sauces and rice were made to perfection. I was also DEEPLY impressed by their diverse staff. Ill definitely return for the food and atmosphere. For a partly buffet style option. I was extremely impressed.

Went for a lunch. Service was terrible. Found the cantaloupe rotten, served with other fruits. The deserts taste like old, not prepared and served fresh. Mutton curry was horrible, meat was hard to chew. They had shortage of tea cups, had to use small desert bowl. Hard to find the servers. Not going again for sure. East India should remember that there are tons of restaurants in the city nowadays with great food and service.

Solid North Indian style food restaurant with a welcoming environment.

This is my Wife and I s go to restaurant. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and wonderful staff. You can really see the pride and joy that the chefs have in their food. Every single time we ve come here, and believe me it s quite often, we always walk away extremely satisfied, especially after always paying a very reasonable bill. We already can t wait to return! Vegetarian options: Every item for the buffet is clearly labeled what s vegetarian and what isn t. I myself am not a vegetarian, but I appreciate very much the transparency in what their food is. All the meats are of course delicious, but if I were to be a vegetarian, the options as well are great!

We tried lunch buffet on Friday afternoon, the price is around 24$ including taxes. There are around 17 items in the menu but I liked samosa, pani poori, ginger prawns, Chicken tandoori and gulab jamun. I think it is worth for that price. But they have many curries like dal tadka, palak paneer, aloo paneer, prawns, lamb, butter chicken ., i did not liked any of them, but i would be more happy if they provide 2 more starters instead of those many curries. Rice and pulov are hard to eat. And you have to pay extra for rotis/nans.
