Enjoy the Journey of Flavors through this unique Panjabi restaurant operating for almost 2 decades!
My wife and I frequent this awesome place frequently. We eat in and do take out. It is the best curry house in Ottawa by far. It is truly a 5 of 5. The owner wife and daughter are unbelievably polite and respectful people. We enjoy it to the utmost. Try the Madras - don’t be afraid. Its the best!!!!
absolutely love Punjabi Clay Oven. We’ve been going there for a very long time. Incredible food. Very consistent. Friendly service. I am Punjabi and this is Authentic Punjabi food! Cannot recommend enough. You have to give it a try and if you are hesitant on what to order, just ask! they will gladly help you and treat you like family!
This is our go to restaurant for Indian cuisine. We have had nothing but exceptional service from this family run business. Friendly and informative staff. They always ask what spice level we would like in our dishes and there is no hesitation in accommodating our preference’s. The dishes we have had have been very flavourful with good portion sizes. This is a family business we have no issues in supporting. From a repeat customer.
My wife and I went here on date night. It all tasted delicious. We enjoyed the food and the servers and owner were both personable and helpful when ordering. The #61 vegetarian option was rich and full of flavour. The portion sizes were generous and we had some leftover for our lunch the next day. Will recommend and return.
My husband and I went here on our date night after we realized the owner was our neighbour! The service was fast, friendly, and very helpful. Our waitress recommended a delicious vegetarian coconut curry to pair with the clay oven special, and it did not disappoint! We were very impressed by the warm atmosphere how helpful our hosts were in making us feel comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious! We had a wonderful experience. We will definitely be returning customers, and would 10/10 recommend this family-run restaurant.
I ordered a plate of paneer pakora, but when I got home and started eating, I was shocked to find there was no paneer inside! This was an incredibly disappointing experience. The restaurant clearly lacks attention to quality. Worst food I've had in a long time. Avoid this place if you expect your order to match what you actually receive.
What a horrible place. More like a bad joke than a restaurant. I used to be a regular here when their lunch buffet was really good. It never was great on atmosphere, but they did have good service and good food. Now, it seems they've gone downhill so far that they really shouldn't be still in business. When I walked in it was almost completely empty of customers. (As compared to the place next to it that was bustling) I was greeted by a very poorly and shoddily dressed man. When I told him I wanted the lunch buffet, which is still advertised on the sign outside, he simply pointed to an ugly sign in the middle of the restaurant with 3 options on it and informed they don't do the lunch buffet anymore. Check out the pictures I'm posting with this review. I walked out immediately and walked 2 doors down to another restaurant in the same Plaza where I paid less and had a wonderful dining experience that earned them 5 stars. Read that review on my profile. Don't even bother walking in to this place.
Great Indian restaurant in the West end of Ottawa! Very friendly service, and love that you can choose the spicy level based on either Canadian or Indian standards 👌🏼 each dish contained a good amount of meat and/or veggies and everything tasted fresh! Tip: One serving of rice is enough to share between 2-3 people, especially if you’re getting naan as well!
Best Indian food ever!!!
Indian Clay Oven Amazing Indian food in kanata north, I will certainly be back for more of your house made Naan Bread, the Tikka was especially good. Thank you for having us! Cheers
Very tasty food and great customer service. Visited here first time from Kitchener.
What a lovely family run restaurant. Food was great. Service was great. Highly recommend! The Aloo Tikki and mango lassi were so so good
Wonderful place and atmosphere, people are super friendly and food is delicious and consistent never had a bad experience here! Also family run business if you want to support local definitely give it a shot!
I have been going to the Clay Oven for more that 10 years and it never disappoints. I must admit that I miss the lunch buffet, but the food and the family owned vibe is still as good as ever.
Such dedication to the experience of the food! Absolute genius!!!
Pam was so nice, and she helped us pick a lovely dinner.
We have been ordering and eating at clay oven since it s beginning Delicious food Great service Wonderful people! Love this place!!! Elizabeth
Fantastic all around, the service only lost a star because there was only one person serving and she was slightly overwhelmed at one point but still very kind, friendly and super apologetic about any wait. Great food, good atmosphere, and this is now my favourite curry house Dietary restrictions: Will accomodate allergies, and will accomodate dairy restrictions if notified in advance
I had a fantastic meal at Indian Punjabi Clay Oven, the staff were all super friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing. Its a great family run restaurant. I would highly recommend going.
Absolutely amazing food! Took my family all loved it! Butter Chicken is a must try all loved the food.
Best Indian food in Ottawa. Always a great experience.
Great food, staff was friendly. The gentleman who served us was joking with my son and gave him free mango juice which was appreciated. Dietary restrictions: Good for celiac / gluten allergies
I came to this restaurant with not many expectations but after trying the food I was mind blown at how something could be so good! And the service was amazing not to mention the beautiful art.
This is my favourite Indian restaurant in Ottawa.
This place is simply wonderful! The owners are very friendly and the food is amazing.
We ordered Dal Makhani & butter roti. It was very delicious.
Great food, BUTTER CHICKEN IS A MUST TRY, friendly family, nice atmosphere. I really recommend it!!!!
I really enjoyed the food there. They have so many delicious meals. And if youre looking for a healthy option, not a problem! There vegetarian dishes are delightfully and yet healthy. The family who own the place are really helpful to.
This is the best place for Indian food, and now I won t go anywhere else. Honestly, I can t remember the last time I had a meal in general that was that delicious. They make everything in house and put much emphasis on it being fully organic; with great service. You got to try this place!
We had an amazing meal here based on a recommendation for a friend and WOW! We tried tried chicken and vegetarian samosas and four dishes and loved them all! We had the Beef Korma, Paneer Masala, Butter Chicken and Daal Tarka with Naan. Complimentary home made vanilla ice cream for dessert! The owners are so friendly and welcoming. We ll be back!
Ive dined in here a few times and everyone is always really warm and helpful with good recommendations and answering any questions about the menu or options. There are lots of vegetarian options and the ones Ive had have all been absolutely delicious. I end up buying from here (a mix of ubereats and the occasional dining in) a couple times every month because it always hits the spot, and the prices are great. My top picks that I get time and time again are the garlic naan, vegetable samosas, channa masala, and baingan bharta. Will absolutely continue to come back
We went there looking for the lunch buffet, but fully understand why it is not currently being offered. The lunch special was interesting, but we opted instead to order from the regular menu. The food was very good and the service fast, friendly and knowledgeable. We recommend this family owned restaurant which has offered authentic Indian cuisine for decades.
Great service! The server was friendly and helpful. She stop by to check on us and making sure the spice level was ok. Food was delicious! Good portion for the price.
We had a delicious meal. Really good and the server was so considerate. I would highly recommend this place. Vegetarian options: Really long veggie menu to choose from.
What a warm, friendly place to eat. Dad is a great cook! Jas gets any order right no matter how complicated! Vegetarian options: Aloo Gobi was amazing! Dietary restrictions: We had 8 in our group with several types of food restrictions and we all found great choices for dinner.
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish!! Jaz was the most amazing server I have ever had! The flavors of the food were completely gorgeous!! Every bite delighted the senses!! This is a place that should not be missed. Go there, NOW!!! Food
Very rude customer service!
Worst restaurant I have ever visited
Good food and good service.
Exceptional service! They remembered us from the one time we visited months ago! Would recommend. Very accommodating for vegan diet restrictions as well! Vegetarian options: Plenty of Options!
Fantastic food with plenty of variety! We will definitely come back for the lunch specials
Always have a great time here!! Delicious food, and great service! The homemade complimentary sauces, are truly unique and delicious! Our favourite Indian restaurant in Kanata!
Great food, good portions, great service!! Will come again!! Thank you!!
Friendly staff. Great food. What more is it say.
I recently tried this restaurant for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered takeout - butter chicken, rice with vegetables, and two naan (1garlic, 1 plain). When placing the order I was asked my preference for spiciness on the butter chicken, and after a bit of discussion we settled on the Canadianized version (#7). When I arrived, while waiting for my order to be ready, I had a wonderful talk with a lady at the cash about the food, and about the history of the restaurant. She was obviously passionate about her business, and she asked me to get back to her about how I found the spiciness and what adjustments could be made for the next time. Well, bottom line, it was all delicious! The buttered chicken was just right, with plenty of chicken. And I have to say, the naan - especially the garlic one - was outstanding. The serving amounts were generous, allowing for two good meals. I will definitely be back!
Really good food. Very flavorful. And we asked for spicy and we got spicy. Very nice garlic naan. Service was very friendly and fast. We will come back for sure.
This is a tough review to write because everything tasted delicious, however the butter chicken and to an even worse extent the lamb roganjosh were mainly bowls of sauce. Incredibly delicious sauce but for the price of each dish, the lack of protein was disappointing and I likely will not order from here again. Let me also state this was an uber eats order that cost around $130 and I expect the item prices are higher to cover the service fees the restaurant must pay. I was willing to pay the price but did not expect to have less than 25% protein by volume.
If I ever win the lottery, I would go every week without question. While not cheap, the Punjabi Clay Oven is worth every penny. Every dish we have ever had is flavourful beyond compare. What was at first a random choice at the end of an exhausting day instantly became a family favourite that we regularly crave. A must stop for masterful Indian food.
I have been looking for a vegetarian alternative to butter chicken for a very long time, so when I saw butter paneer on the menu at this restaurant, I knew I had to order it. To say it was amazing would be an understatement. It was the best butter sauce I ve had, and the paneer was so tender, I had to literally force myself to stop eating it once I got full. This fulfilled all of my butter chicken desires in a vegetarian format. As a bonus, the garlic naan was to die for - super tender and bursting with flavour. I definitely recommend this place!
I had the most wonderful experience at this authentic Indian restaurant! I wanted take out and asked for their suggestions. The meal did not disappoint. They make everything fresh and healthy. It was a delicious meal. I had the Tika Masala chicken with rice and yogurt with Nan bread.
Best Punjabi food in Ottawa, or perhaps in Ontario! I ordered butter chicken and chicken tikka masala Great taste and great service Cheaper than most Indian restaurants Quality was great Highly recommend to try Indian Punjabi Clay oven
Well cooked delicious food & homely atmosphere. The owner Pam, is a very pleasant lady.Good customer service. Good prices & will be there back again.
I go here often and food is always great. The place is a little dark but conversation with owners is always enjoyable.
When visiting from the GTA, this is a place that I love to stop at! The family that runs this place is always so welcoming and the food is always delicious!
Be careful when you order from this restaurant. I ordered the shahi paneer and garlic naan. The naan was okay, but the shahi paneer was excessively salty and watery. When I brought this to their attention, they began to argue, much like they do in their reviews. The chef was quite impolite and displayed a rather unpleasant attitude. It would be advisable for them to concentrate on improving their culinary skills instead of argument. Please note that this is a genuine review, as the owner dismisses all reviews as fake.
Best PUNJABI FOOD EVER!!! Great service and great food! you have to try this authentic food!
Ordered Malai kofta through Uber eats. 3 very small sizes koftas in watery gravy. Did not like the taste and quantity. Food : 1/5
Great food and great service. I would (and will!!) eat here again. I have ordered both on Uber eats and in person. Both were satisfying and just what I wanted. Thank you Indian Punjabi Clay Oven!
We had dinner there for the first time earlier this week. The food was really good and the service was excellent. The portions were more than adequate and the seating was comfortable. Well be going back. Vegetarian options: We had a vegetarian meal -- vegetarian samosas and two dishes.
We tried the Indian chai and snacks here. Loved it !! They have a complete menu for lunch and dinner too.
Absolutely the most tasty indian food l ve ever tasted in my life, highly recommended if you re looking to spoil yourself and your loved ones!!
Wow wow wow, such great hospitality, such amazing food, superb.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Indian Punjabi Clay Oven and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was welcomed with warm hospitality. Each dish is meticulously prepared with traditional recipes and the finest ingredients. The flavors are rich and vibrant. One of the highlights of the meal was the freshly baked naan, which was the perfect accompaniment to the rich and flavorful curries. This restaurant is a must-visit.
Great food and service. Vegetarian friendly and the staff knowledgeable and they provided great recommendations. I will definitely be back! Vegetarian options: Great variety of veggie options!
By far the best Indian food in the city. It is our go to place for Friday night take out. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommended!
I went a few weeks ago and the meal was great! Lovely family owned restaurant.
Food
This was my first time trying this restaurant and I am so excited to go back for more. Service was excellent and the food was amazing! I had the Baingan Bhartha and it was absolutely delicious with their garlic naan
Excellent tasting food!
The welcome was warm, service was attentive. We over-ordered to get a good idea of the food quality, which was excellent. Portions were very generous, the serving dishes were deeper than we ve seen. We are looking forward to enjoying our leftovers. We are new to the area and understand why this restaurant has stood the test of time, although it is not fancy the food is first rate. Vegetarian options: There are many vegetarian options.
I absolutely love this place. It s a hidden gem. Been ordering from here for years. Best Indian in the city hands down. Proper family made recipe s. Support local. Support this family!
For years we have enjoyed eating at Punjab Clay Oven. When we first moved to Kanata from Brampton we search many Indian restaurants in Ottawa but often we were disappointed then we found our favourite! INDIAN PUNJAB CLAY OVEN - The Best food
Good place! Amazing food! Always a good choice for a nice meal FULL of flavour.
Butter chicken was outstanding.
The worse Indian food I have ever had. The kebab and tandoori are so bad. I read other reviews and it seems like my review will also go wasted because the owner seems to know how to argue which is a great skill to have in a court but the worst skill to have in a restaurant business. If I were the owner I would close it down and go become a lawyer where I might have a better future than cook such bad food and collect bad karma.
Great food and service.
Amazing food and even better service!
Great food, you get pita with amazing sauces when you sit down. Curry beef, curry chicken A+. Service is how it used to be, great.
Lovely mainstay. Great family and superb food. Reasonable prices.
Everything Ive tried so far has been really good and its made to order, so you pick your spice level too.
We absolutely love this place. Our favourite mango lassi in Ottawa, and the owners and servers are so lovely and generous. We got the paneer pakora, lamb roganjosh and clay oven specialty platter. It was all fantastic. It was our anniversary tonight, and they gave us dessert to celebrate :)
Owners are lovely, so kind and friendly. I will definitely be going back. I got a lamb curry, naan bread, and samosas. All delicious. Fairly reasonable prices, worth it.
This is our favourite Indian restaurant by far! We have tried many others and keep coming back here, the best flavours and kindest staff. Highly recommend. Even the kids love the butter chicken and they are picky eaters
It was great food and taste was delicious as well as customer service awesome great experience
Best Indian food in Ottawa!
Great food and great service!
A delight! A delight to the sense. Nyehhhhhh
A culinary delight! I am immensely satisfied.
Delicious food, been going for years!
Food was delicious, I went with medium heat, should of stayed with mild, like my wife did.
I was very disappointed because the food looks good visually but it was very bland in flavour and I m not a spice person but it was really lacking any kind of seasoning not even enough salt. The tandoori was very dry it seemed like it was days old and reheated. The simplest dish, the butter chicken was watery and bland. For the price I m paying I expect bigger portions and more flavour. The waiter tried to be sweet and interact but I feel like there was too much unnecessary talking and it was getting in the way of receiving our food on time. We weren t offered any refilling on water which we got through as soon as we sat down.
Best food in town
Delicious authentic indian food. Superb service and excellent ambiance. Enjoyed my dine-in here! Food
A gem of a restaurant! The food was delicious, generously portioned, and affordable. I loved the mango lassi! I had the butter paneer, garlic naan, and basmati rice, all of which I would have again.
We ordered takeout for 8 people and had wonderful food, as we have always had from here.
Weve been going here for many years for the obvious reason. The food is excellent and the service is friendly and fast. Food is very tasty, and portions are great - we love to have leftovers from Indian Clay oven. Looking forward to my next visit :)
Great Indian FOOD, Highly recommended
Food is great Made from scratch Highly recommended Food : 5/5
Wonderful service that staff was awesome !
My wife Sharon and I have eaten here at least four or five times over the last two years! We have also eaten at two or three other Indian food restaurants. We keep coming back to the Indian Punjabi Clay Oven for a number of reasons! The quality of the food, the variety of food choices, the quantity of meat in each food dish ordered compared to other restaurants of the same genre. The garlic naan bread just sets off the meal as does the Indian Cheetah Mango Beer! The service is homey and friendly! We are not food experts, but as seniors we know what we like and what tastes good! We will keep coming back and have recommended this restaurant to our friends and family! Thank you Indian Punjabi Clay Oven for offering your great food to our community! Stephen and Sharon Merriman
AMAZING!! best place to get indian food in ottawa. incredible service. highly recommend.
Great family owned restaurant. Always receive great customer service - staff are friendly and attentive. Our favourites are the beef samosas, lentil soup, butter chicken and chicken curry. The garlic naan is a must have as well. Good portions and you are able to choose the spice level.
This restaurant is a gem! Well established and family owned, with a loyal clientele. The food is consistently delicious, very flavourful and spiced according to your taste (mild, medium or hot). The service is efficient but very friendly. The servings are a good size and their prices are remarkably reasonable. I recommend the Lamb Saag, Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka or a Biryani but do try the garlic naan - soft and buttery melts in your mouth!
Great service, amazing food. I will definitely be coming back :)
Great indian restaurant! Very friendly staff, clean place and delicious dishes! Recommended!
Literally the best Indian in Ottawa. So so so good. 100% worth a try
Great little place with delicious food! The owner was oh so lovely, made us feel very welcome and accommodated my friends food preferences. I had the Butter chicken and garlic nann which was sooooo good! Def recommend a visit! Food
First time trying this restaurant; it came with very friendly service, cozy atmosphere with great food! I have dietary restrictions and the owners were amazing in offering to make a chicken korma (offered other dishes as well) to be dairy free. I asked for very mild, which they jokingly called Canadian mild . But this was the perfect amount of flavour and spice so that I could enjoy the meal, without a crazy level of heat. Which I very much appreciated!! My friend had a mild butter chicken and garlic naan bread. Both of which she said, we re delicious!
Delicious food, very friendly service. Highly recommended!
Hands down some of the most authentic Indian food in the city. You can tell that everything is made fresh in house with care and affection. All our food was prepared with a perfect balance of flavour and spiciness and all our meals came out piping hot. Everyone at the table got something completely different and everybody was arguing no mine is the best, no mine! The one thing we could agree on was that we hd never had better naan, the garlic naan especially was to die for. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive, and the service was at a level that you could only expect to receive from a family owned business such as this. This is a weekly spot for us and it has never disappointed. Would HIGHLY recommend.
Love the food and the people.
Love this place! Highly recommended! Their lamb byriani is my favourite. Family run business and staff is very friendly.
The staff is very unprofessional and rude. I called to order food for pickup, I understand that the location was going to close but you can simply say a No if you can not prepare it. The way he asked me Come faster, Where are you? (in rude tone) isnt what your customers want to hear.
Delicious food and amazing staff! Well be back.
Simply the best butter chicken in Canada. Beeing a native fan of Indian food and having lived in Canada for over a decade, I can guarantee that theres no better butter chicken and Naan offered by any other restaurant. The best thing about my visits here is the consistency of taste and quality. They are exactly the same (and supreme) every time. The staff is always super respectful too.
Punjabi Clay Oven is my absolute FAVOURITE Indian food restaurant. Years ago it was Rangoli (which is still good) but Clay Oven has surpassed them in many different ways. The consistently good and high quality food which is reasonably priced is matched with excellent service and the owners personal touch. Any time Ive gone in either to pick up food or dine in, I am always greeted with a smile and conversation. When my husbands cancer got too bad to tolerate spice, they gave us the option of no spice and it still tasted amazing! My husband was so grateful as it was his favourite restaurant. Today I went there with my son and ate in. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and it gave us a chance to have a really nice conversation with the wonderful owner again. If you havent tried this hidden gem, please do. Its a small local business that deserves recognition for the efforts they put into making their customers a top priority.
New favourite Indian restaurant!! Food here was delicious! We had #28, #61 and #62. All were very different but equally delicious. Staff and owner were also super friendly! We loved our experience and will definitely come back
This restaurant is a hidden gem in Kanata. We decided to try out this restaurant instead of sushi and it was the greatest decision we could have made. We shared three dishes between the two of us and they were delicious, uniquely flavourful and filling. #28, #61 and #62. Not to mention we had the privilege to see the clay oven and how they make naan. The experience was so wholesome, the food so good and the service so welcoming. Thank you P, B and J!
Absolutely fabulous food, every time. We typically have the Chicken Curry, Alu Matar, and of course the delicious naan. Owners and staff are all lovely people who obviously care if we are enjoying our meal. This is our favourite Indian restaurant, and we will be back again, soon. Food
Took a chance for my birthday dinner and we really scored coming here. This place is great. Excellent service with helpful advice. Wide array of menu choices and prices almost pre-Covid. All of us truly enjoyed all our dishes, appetizers and the bowls were wiped clean of the delicious sauces with the stellar naan. Easily earned our recommendation. Well be back, long before my next birthday.
Tried this restaurant on my mother s recommendation. All I have to say is their mushroom curry is all I have been craving. Take out or Dine in, this place has always hit the mark.
Great customer service and love the food so delicious
What a delicious meal! The owners are so kind, if there was a higher rating than 5 we would! So grateful for this takeout option!!!
We ordered enough food for 10 people and everything was delicious! They labeled all the dishes for the various dietary restrictions of our group. Service was great!!
The saag paneer and the navrattan korma were AMAZING!
We had take-out. The food was exceptional. When we picked up the food we were warmly welcomed by staff and given instructions on how best to serve the food that required some work (e.g. the desserts: mango ice cream and the light cheese in a sweet sauce). Our guests were full and stared they wish they weren t so they could continue eating. We will be repeat customers for sure. Dietary restrictions: We had a guest with dairy restrictions and the staff labelled every dish so we were aware what had dairy.
We ordered takeout for a large group and everything was wonderful! The food was absolutely delicious and so well organized with everything labeled according to our various dietary restrictions. The staff were very warm, friendly, and accommodating. Will definitely visit again!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Indian Punjabi Clay Oven, and I must say, I was utterly captivated by the exceptional quality of their food. The naan breads were freshly baked to perfection, and the curries were simply outstanding. Moreover, their bar selection was impressive, and the service was top-notch. With generous portions and reasonable prices, it truly exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend checking them out; you wont be disappointed!
Their naan and bhature are extremely bready/thick and very similar to the pre-made ones you might get at a store. Its very disappointing when an Indian restaurant cant get their breads right, especially one that has clay oven (tandoor) as part of their name. The chicken tikka masala and chana were good. Parking: Difficult to find parking on weekend evenings.
Great place!
Funtastic food. We travel from Kingston For this restaurant. They feed you like family Food
A group of 4 ate supper here recently. The food was great. Really tasty and we had a extremely friendly waitress. This experience made up for a poor experience at a local restaurant a couple of nights before. It had what I look for in a non-Canadian fare restaurant. It was full of East Indian diners instead of a bunch of of old white people like us.
I was very excited to have finally found a place that actually uses a clay oven because anyone who has had food in India knows how different the food tastes there vs here. But this place has some of the worst non veg food Ive ever had and I have had so many Indian restaurant food in Canada. Its a bit from downtown so you have to drive a bit and I was super hungry. I pickup my food and I literally had to throw it out. The veg food is fine, its not special but its ok. But their non veg is absolutely not worth it. I know from running businesses how hard it can but if I had a restaurant and my food was this bad. I would not sell those items anymore. Hopefully the owners are openminded and can handle criticism. I am not sure what the fix is but the non veg is just not it.
DELICIOUS!! So happy we discovered this restaurant. If its your first time I highly recommend dinning in. It was my first time diving into Indian food and they were so great at explaining dishes and making recommendations. Love that this is a family run business. We will absolutely be back for the butter chicken alone - outstanding!
Best Indian food in Kanata! Will prepare dishes to your preference. For example, if you have children, they can prepare mild dishes.
Probably the best Indian food I have had. I would order here over any other place in Ottawa. Highly recommended!
This place has been a favorite of ours for the last 10 years; it never ceases to impress. The food is out of this world and the staff are very friendly. They also took special care to clarify which food was gluten-free (1 GF and 1 non-GF guest). Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten-free options!
Excellent food and on time. Would recommend Vegetarian options: A lot of vegetarian options which is great and tasty too
Would have loved to give 10 stars out of 5 if that was an option! Amazingly delicious food and great hospitality!! Strongly recommend Chhole Bhature from Indian Punjabi Clay Oven. You would not find better Chhole Bhature anywhere else in Canada!
Wonderful experience at the restaurant. Very tasty food. Choley Bathurey and saag panir are amazing! Very friendly owners.....a place you would love to go again and again.
Very nice service and outstanding taste
Amazing time family day weekend. 10/10 for the food! It had been a bit since we had been back and taste and quality is the best I have ever had.
The food is always great and it s a family run business - they genuinely seem to care but also the food is some of the best India in town. The navrrattan, lamb vindaloo, butter chicken, and chicken korma are our faves
This has been a popular lunch spot with coworkers. The food here is very good. The lunch special is interesting - you get whatever they have prepared for that day. You get a huge tray of 3 different curries, tandoori chicken, rice, lots of naan, raita, dessert - enough to feed 2 people well or stuff your face until you are ready for sleep. Ive also tried some of the a la carte items and they were good too. Spice level varies - sometimes hot is very hot, sometimes its not that hot. My only complaint is its not very economical if youre just ordering for yourself. The lunch special will run you $30 all in, as will rice + a main dish, and its a lot of food for one.
Friendly service and absolutely incredible naan. Highly recommend!
Extremely rude and poor service. Food was pathetic
Every dish here is amazing - so flavourful and generous portions. When I ask for mild they ask Canadian mild or Indian mild which makes me laugh but also I love - when Im sharing with the kids I go Canadian mild and its perfect - still very flavourful and a hint of spice but great for young kids who arent used to spicy foods. We order here often and its always a great experience.
Literally the best butter chicken ever & don t even tell me about the naan bread which is also the best I ve tasted, watch out for those allergic to gluten, you will come out very full!
I ordered a chicken biriyaani today for lunch at work. It was pathetic. Who puts peas with chicken? I paid $25 to atleast expect $10 worth of check or at minimum some yogurt with it. The tasted as if it was made in burnt olive oil. I could smell it in the first bite. I expected alot more than that. Never returning and ordering again.
Good food, good portion sizes.
Incredibly caring owners who consistently bend over backwards to help their customers. Not to mention best Indian food and portions in the area!!!
Excellent service and food. They went above and beyond to ensured my picky child got something he liked
I dined in here and got the saag paneer and #45 (can t seem to remember the name), rice, garlic and plain naan and onion bhaji, everything was soo amazing and fresh. I would recommend every single thing I got here, and the onion bhaji are the best you ll ever have. The owners are so incredibly kind annd caring and the atmosphere is so welcoming and inviting. It was a great experience all around dining here:))
Always deliscious and so friendly!
Best Punjabi food ever!! Reminds me of Punjab. Every time I come to Ottawa from Montreal I always go to Punjabi clay oven.
The food was really good and tasty and we had a great time there. The service was really good and staff was well behaved and listened to what we asked for. The portions are good compared to the price that they are charging. I would love to revisit this place again. The service was also very fast Food
Good good and large portions. Great palate change for once in a while dining.
Food is excellent. In spite of what is noted on their website they no longer offer a buffet
We tried many dishes and paneer pakora and curry was very tempting and it s must try dishes of clay oven so highly recommend to visit
Food was very good and the service was very friendly
Very delicious food Its almost closing time and still they allowed me for dine in Very good service
Missing the 6th star! Service is awesome, big smile and fast. Loved the question on how hot and when I ve answered Indian hot, more smiles. Lamb Byranni and the lamb roganjosh (lamb night) were out of this world. order a takeout and service was fast and waited savoring a Mango Kulfee :-) Recommend for sure !!
The place looks very unhygienic. Food is not tasty as anyone would expect from a Punjabi place. I ordered a Clay Oven Speciality Kabobs , which is a Tandoori platter. The Kabobs were not cooked in the oven at all. They were cooked in a pot, so every variety of kabob had pretty much the same texture and taste. Other things like chhola bhatura and daal makhani were also not how you would expect them. All together disappointed with quality and taste. Not sure how it got such a good rating on Google.
I cant stop coming back. The service is impeccable, and the food is amazing. The owners and staff are very friendly and considerate.
Good food. Gravies were slightly watery but ok
This family restaurant is VERY DELICIOUS. Friendly staff . Very big portion for the price . I will definitely go back . If u like good ,spicy and authentic East Indien food u cant go wrong .
The food was absolutely amazing! The naan was fresh and the clay oven tandoor was delicious. The service was fast. We were very satisfied with our food. Definitely recommend.
Very authentic, the sizzling chicken off the tandoor was so good
If I could give this jem of a spot 10 stars, I would! Service was out of this world from the owner! She went above and beyond, from explaining Canadian spicy to Indian spicy, and how they mix together with the flavours and dishes we got. My husband was able to get his spice fix as well, as they gave him a taste of how spicy Indian spice could be. In the pictures, you will also see their clay oven working hard, making naan! I asked to see this, and they were so welcoming. Food was out of this word! It was flavourful, hot, and just the way it should taste. Both my husband and I were so delighted with our choices! Portions were a good size, and we should have shared one dish between the two of us. Dont skip out on dessert! It was the best ending to an already delicious meal. Now we have leftovers for tomorrow We will be back without a doubt, and will bring friends!! Dietary restrictions: They give an option for Canadian Spicy and Indian Spicy.
Been going here for years, our go to favourite place for Indian food! Staff are very willing to adjust spice levels so the weaker of us can also enjoy the food :) Really recommend the butter chicken/panner, and baingan bharta.
The amount of meat in the recipes seems to be declining and the price increasing. Still amazing flavour but we def buy less often due to the price.
Food was really disappointing it not a Punjabi food at all all heavy was full with saturated fat and they add so much sugar really disappointing and waist of droving for lunch with my family Parking: Will definitely not recommend for anyone
The service and food were exceptional! Thank you for a great meal!
I dined at this restaurant recently. I opted for the chole bhature and a mango lassi. Unfortunately, the chole bhature left much to be desired. The chole gravy was overly diluted, and the spices were quite off, giving it an almost watered-down taste. The bhature resembled more of a puri in terms of texture, and the serving size was rather small. On the bright side, the mango lassi stood out with its rich mango flavor, although it was served in a half-filled glass, with the rest occupied by ice cubes. Overall, the experience did not match the price paid.
Definitely one of if not the best Indian restaurants in Ottawa. Best lamb korma I have ever eaten. I almost needed to be rolled out back to the car, the food is so good you can t stop eating. Highly recommend! Vegetarian options: All of the best Indian vegetarian dishes are on the menu. Daal, chole, paneer . Perfect place to eat if you are vegetarian Dietary restrictions: A lot of gluten free and vegetarian options on the menu Parking: Plenty of parking available
I have visited 40 counties. A lover of india food who live fin india for 6 years. I ordered food not quality or quantity. I say give me my money back. The guy was unprofessional. This is the worst experience I had I. My life in a restaurant. Check this place against other Indian restaurant. Don t waste your money as I did
Do not recommend ordering from here. Ordered biryani and it was pathetic. the lady at counter was very unprofessional and rude. Food
Best food in Ottawa!!
Fantastic food bursting with flavor and spice. Better yet, they can do gluten free.
Delicious and authentic. You could certainly get the passion for the food as well. Will be back for sure.
one of the best restaurant in the ottawa for punjabi food . recommend at less try one time . thanks alot for delicious food.
I had great experience with this restaurant, I will recommended to everyone must go there
Great restaurant! They no longer have their lunch buffet, instead they have these lunch combo plates, and they are great! Tons of food, and it is was delicious! Three great Indian dishes along a huge amount of rice, and a lot of naan bread. Would definitely recommend! Not more expensive than other Indian places, great place for the lunch plate, we left SO stuffed!
This Food Makes Me Hard (Feel Tough and Good) Kid-friendliness: The food gave my kids a good tickle which they enjoyed. Food : 5/5 |
Amazing food!!
Upon entry, the fabulous smells enter your nostrils. The art and decor is very welcoming which is only exceeded by the exceptionally friendly and warm service. The prices are reasonable and they make the food to the spice level you like.
Couldn t have asked for a better meal! The Alu Tikki app was such a great share!! Will definitely come again. Love family owned businesses!!
Delicious!
My family and I had a wonderful dinner out tonight at the Clay Oven in Kanata. The food was amazing, and the service was very friendly. We tried the naan, vegetable pakora, beef korma, chicken curry, rice, mango shake and more!! Portions were great and the naan is super fresh and tasty. We will definitely be back.
Fantastic food and friendly accommodating service, their naan is out of this world!
Excellent food. Thank you.
The most wonderful Indian food and such wonderful staff and owners We come as often as we can and are never disappointed Five stars every time !! Food : 5/5

Love the food! Love the people! We ve never had a negative experience and we ve been going to The Oven for years!! 10 out of 10!!!!!!
Delicious food!
Excellent food and kindly service! The beghan barta is the best in the city and we really enjoyed the kashmiri chicken. The menu items are prepared by an excellent chef. I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is casual but the food is top notch. You won t be disappointed!
Food is decent, but its pretty pricey for a lunch special
food is good and the service is also very good. Every time i go i get extra because its so good!!
The curries and naan are delicious. Service is friendly and is run by family, we will be back again!
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
This is THE best Indian food in Ottawa. Especially the baingan bharta, which is my all time favourite. And it s the loveliest of families that runs the place-they are friendly, warm and welcoming. They were also able to accommodate a group of thirty of us a few months ago, and we all loved the food and atmosphere! I ve been there with small groups, large groups, and was a regular take out customer during COVID. This place and the family that so lovingly runs it have never disappointed! Vegetarian options: So many vegetarian options! Dietary restrictions: They are so accommodating with dietary restrictions!
Best Indian food in Ottawa!!!! Amazingly delicious!
This family owned restaurant truly is.a Gem in Kanata! From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a friendly smile. The dishes were absolutely delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant whether a romantic dinner for two, dinner with family or friends, or just picking up some take out to enjoy at home. You won t be disappointed! Vegetarian options: Lot of vegetarian dishes
Since before the pandemic, I thought this was the best naan bread in Ottawa. I would often go for the lunch buffet but that is no longer on offer. Its still the best garlic naan and Lamb curry! Ask for no bones and you wont be disappointed in the flavour or texture of the meat. I wish they had it, in much less liquid gravy though. The plastic tap water pitcher is poor quality (appearance/taste) and greatly detracts from the dinning experience. Investing in an ice machine might help mask that shortcoming (if 50% ice cubes), bulk spring water bottles or provide a chilled Nestle or Kirkland water bottle.
Had a wonderful meal here. Great food and the staff was amazing. Our party tried quite a few dishes on the menu and everything was excellent.
dinner was fantastic. Friendly service and delicious food. Highly recommended!
I like to explore and get a taste of restaurants in both toronto and ottawa, and Ill say that their butter chicken was probably the best Ive eaten in both places. I like that they let you choose the spice level, making it the only place i could find with a good spicy butter chicken.
The best Punjabi (or indeed the best Indian) food in Ottawa. Engaging and lovely service.
Ordered daal tadka they delivered daal makhni. Asked for medium spices and received super spicy. Tandoori roti was really hard and burned. It s really hard to eat. Overall not a good experience Vegetarian options: I did not like their daal makhni Rotis are really hard and burned
Best Indian food in Ottawa. Best chicken I ve ever had. Not tandoori, chicken period.
Best Punjabi food in the great Ottawa area, delicious fresh and flavourful, the naan were great and they always accommodate a large group of us. We went on a night they were short staffed as it is a family location but the service was still great! They are always kinda to my family especially given that we have family who doesnt speak English, this feels like a family place! Wish they were available for me downtown!
Such An Amazing service, had a wonderful and delicious experience. Ambience was too good. We highly recommend to visit there especially people who miss Indian food. Allover there is no word to explain our experience.
Vegetarian options: Dal makhni, veggi Korma matter paneer lot of options also there very very very good food . Parking: Good parking space Kid-friendliness: Restaurant staff to much caring for kids.
I visited Indian Punjabi Clay Oven for the first time earlier this week. Everything I ordered was delicious - garlic naan, katchumber salad, eggplant dish, rice. The heat was perfect (I ordered medium). Service is friendly. I will definitely go back. Highly recommend. Food : 5/5
I have only ordered take out and the food is excellent! Delicious!
Amazing food and very good service. We ll definitely come back!
Great food and I miss the buffet
Delicious Indian food with amazing service. Customized spice levels as preferred taste!
The best, most delicious vegetable pakoras. I go here often. Best tamarind sauce too.
