Kochi Kitchen. South Indian specialties in a traditional decorated space.
We recently catered food from Kochin Kitchen, and the entire experience was absolutely amazing. From placing the order to delivery, everything was seamless. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, ensuring all our requests were taken care of. The packaging was secure and professional, keeping the food fresh and intact. The food itself was absolutely delicious, with every dish bursting with authentic flavors and loved by all our guests. Highly recommend Kochin Kitchen for catering – they truly exceeded our expectations.
BEST RESTAURANT IN OTTAWA. Never had better Indian Buffet. They had eveeything from Mushroom to Korma to Lamb to Butter Chicken to 5 types of Salads. Dessert was Gulab Jamun and Vermicelli. Please try it. Highlight of our trip
Amazing food! We are of 13 people dined for the buffet! Everything is flavourful and delicious! Must try- tomato soup, pulav, Mutton curry, salad, Amazing parota. Best Indian buffet in Ottawa, Period!
Visited this restaurant first time for tasting Onam Sadhya. Had a Authentic Kerala full meal in a banana leaf platter after 3 years. Special mention to the boys and girls for their hospitality.......
We had Lunch Buffet there it was really good and exactly Kerala style. Had some chana, chicken, sambar with prota and at the end it we had gulab jamun. Unfortunately there is no drink available with buffet but only water.
Got the beef curry, me and the boyfriend usually share a curry at other restaurants as they feed 2-3 people. Here the curry comes in a small dish with the price of 21$ . We were shocked. Limited selections of drinks. Dirty washrooms. Place has gone downhill since they opened.
Grabbed some dinner here on a Saturday night with family and had a great time! Everyone was satisfied with the dishes they got, and by the end of dinner we finished everything! Wouldn't mind stopping by while I'm in Canada.
I visited lunch buffet on a Monday and wasn't expecting too many choices but I was amazed by the variety of items available. For starters i started with salad and yoghurt, followed by multiple survings of Butter chicken, Pepper Lamb. Then I tried chicken Peera and Mushroom masala along with kerala parota. In end for dessert I had couple of gulab jamuns because I was full by end of main course. Overall food was great and I loved the taste of Mushroom masala. Will visit again soon for sure.
The food from the menu was very bland. The bread was extremely chewy. Nothing authentic about the food. The restaurant inside is as cheap as you can imagine. Service was extremely slow as there was only one server who acted as the host as well. The restaurant isnt ventilated so much that youll have to wash your clothes. Definitely do not recommend.
Brunch buffet was sublime and well priced.
The place might be falling apart but its got a nice atmosphere and the food is amazing. Great bang for your buck. Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian Thali
It was my first experience in Ottawa for Keralian South Indian food and it was really amazing. I tried fish curry thali that was recommended by Roji and it was too good. He is very nice person at restaurant. Highly recommended
Excellent lunch buffet
This was a great meal! Reasonable price, good variety, great for groups to share!
The food here tastes good, only think their portion size is bit small
Very nice food for families
It s a great experience for me and for the first time in Ottawa. Delicious Kerala Food. Especially the restaurant atmosphere and the customer service is wounderful We really enjoyed and food was amazing please do try if you get a chance.
All you can eat Indian buffet. $22.00
Delicious lunch buffet with many dishes, all very good and for a great price.
Visited the restaurant for the first time for weekend brunch. Didn t like the food at all as it doesn t represent kerala style taste. This restaurant is good for westerners tastebuds. Food wasn t spicy and it was bland taste. You cannot say this is a south indian style if you don t have the aroma and spices in your food. Really disappointed. Will give a five star for appam, dosa items.
The food here is mostly average. Dont expect perfectly authentic kerala flavours, I think they have tweaked it to suit western palates so nothing is as spicy or flavourful as you expect from proper kerala style and most dishes are even sweet. Porotta , fish curry and biryani are good though. But we take what we get in Ottawa because we dont have many options for Kerala cuisine.
Amazing customer service tonight we had a very good experience with the two servers for tonight. Im so sorry the girl mentioned her name and I forgot but both of the girl and the little guy always had a smile. Please keep up with the same attitude every time. The energy was so positive. I highly recommend this place to public must go. And the food is really good.
The service and atmosphere was really nice here. The biriyani tastes good but could have been more spicier.
Best Indian food in Ottawa!! Special thanks to Meghana and Roji. They were very friendly and professional Food
The best Indian restaurant in ottawa. Great ambience and friendly staffs. Always favourite place for authentic kerala food
Hands down the best Indian food I ve tried in Ottawa to date.
We had a great time yesterday at this restaurant. I ordered porotta and beef curry, both of which were delicious. The friendly service provided by Aleena (sorry if I misspelled her name) was especially noteworthy. She is simply awesome.
This place is Awesome I and my husband went there for Lunch buffet and all items were super delicious & flavorful. No matter what you should visit this restaurant and try their lunch buffet. There were variety of items and each item was prepared in the traditional authentic way. Food was filling & at the same time not very heavy, so not oily spicy food, just great preparation. Kudos to the chef. Staff service was very friendly as well. They deserve a huge huge shoutout. Must try.
Excellent food.
Authentic Kerala cuisine, tastes are as close as it does back home.
Nice food
Kochin Kitchen is a hidden gem! The Sambar Vada and Chicken Wings were absolutely delightful. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the freshness of the ingredients was evident. My favorite dish has to be the Pepper Lamb tender and bursting with flavor. Definitely coming back to try more of their specials like the King Fish Curry and Neelagiri Mushroom!
Amazing food and great service! The Neelagiri Mushroom was earthy and delicious, and the Sambar was so comforting. I also enjoyed the Lamb Kuruma it was tender and full of flavor. The Squid Biryani is a must-try for anyone who loves seafood. Kochin Kitchen has become my go-to spot for authentic South Indian food.
Kochin Kitchen never disappoints! The Sambar Vada is my favorite starter, and the Chicken Pakora is crispy and flavorful. The Kerala Kozhi was cooked to perfection, and the King Fish Curry was the highlight of my meal. The variety on the menu is impressive, and everything I tried was top-notch!
What a fantastic experience at Kochin Kitchen! The Masala Dosa was crispy and perfectly complemented by the flavorful Sambar. The Goan Chicken was rich and savory, making it a must-try dish. Also, don t miss out on the Puli Inji Chicken Wings they re a flavor bomb! Highly recommended for authentic South Indian cuisine.
If you re a seafood lover, Kochin Kitchen is the place to be. The Salmon Aleppey was cooked to perfection, and the Kochin Shrimp Curry was simply divine. The Rasam was spicy and flavorful, a perfect start to the meal. Don t leave without trying the Pepper Lamb it s tender and packed with flavor!
Kochin Kitchen is a must-visit for authentic Indian cuisine. The Egg Mappas and Paneer Spinach Khorma were rich and flavorful. The Beef Fry Special was cooked just right, with a perfect blend of spices. The Vegetable Kurma was a delightful surprise fresh and full of flavor. Great food and great vibes!
I had a wonderful meal at Kochin Kitchen. The Masala Dosa and Thairu Vada were absolutely delicious. The Fish Moilee was creamy and packed with flavor. The service was quick, and the staff was very attentive. I m looking forward to trying the Beef Vindaloo next time heard it s perfect for spice lovers!
Kochin Kitchen offers some of the best South Indian food in town. The Onion Pakora and Vegetable Cutlet were crispy and seasoned perfectly. The Real Butter Chicken was rich and creamy, and the Lamb Chettinaadu had the perfect level of spice. I also loved the Tomato Rice it paired perfectly with all the curries. Definitely worth a visit!
The Paper Dosa at Kochin Kitchen are to die for! The Rava Dosa was crispy with just the right amount of spice. I also loved the Kochin Shrimp Curry and the Pepper Scallops a true delight for seafood lovers. The ambiance is cozy and the staff is super friendly. Will definitely visit again!
I went to the recent Indian food festival in barheaven , where the restaurant had a stall . I went Friday (23 august ) at 2PM . I got a paper dosa , the size of which was pathetic . It was so small and they charged $ 15. The person who was making dosa , didn t have a clue how to make it . It is a rip off
Zero Stars for food and service!!! Absolute wastage of hard earned money. Buffet is horrendous. I will never ever ever eat here again. Limited items with no taste for $24.99. Not recommended at all
I decided to go here after seeing some 4star and 5 star reviews, but utterly disappointed!!! Absolutely no taste. Will never recommend the buffet. Such a waste of money. Try at your own risk
Vegetarian options: Neelagiri mushroom very highly recommended Food
Great service Great food
Great service and the cuisine was exceptional, evoking a sense of nostalgia and reminding me of the flavors of home
Had the buffet and it was complete value for money. Everything tasted so good!
Great food. Service was very slow this time around because they had a food festival in the town.
Had a friend take me to this Indian restaurant, as a Nigerian I wasnt sure what to expect at first but I enjoyed the different meals recommended to me, the place is great and Service was exceptional. Am definitely going back with more friends. A Must Go Place!!!
Had an amazing time. Both the food and the service were excellent value for money.
Food is still reasonably good, and we were there for the buffet, so its hard to grade service. Overall, it just doesnt feel as good as it used to be.
Went for buffet. Had good options you sometimes don t see in Indian lunch buffet. Lots of variety.
High cost for less items in buffet..
Vegetarian options: I had a buffet lunch, and I am a vegetarian. That left me with salad, Rice, Porotta, Mixed veg curry, chicken pea masala, Sambhar, Cabbage curry, pPapad, Gulab Jamun and payasam. The food tasted great. Food
Kochin Kitchen is a must-visit! The Sambar Vada was crispy, and the Chicken Wings had the perfect kick of spice. But the Pepper Lamb stole the show incredibly tender and full of flavor. I m excited to come back and try the King Fish Curry and Neelagiri mushroom next time.
*However, their website Does.Not.Work. I love this place and have been an infrequent diner since its opening three or four years ago. Its got a great variety of dishes, everything is fresh and flavourful, and for us gluten-intolerant folks there is no wistful pining for bread: the dosas are gluten-free! Highly recommended.
Good meal, very warm welcome, I will definitely return
Excellent food and service
Curries were sweet, very hot environment as A/C was not working. We had kids with us and they couldn t arrange a fan.
The buffet was good. Got the last spot for parking. The ambience is good .
Provides the real taste of Kerala food ... love it
Meh...
HATE THE QUANTITY FOR TAKE OUT!!! Its a rip off!! Literally 11 pieces for $10 for Beef Dry Fry. Whaaat?? We were 4 people who ate at the restaurant plus took some food for take out. See the attached for details! Very disappointed!! Hope the management puts an eye on this issue!!!
Food wasn t excellent May be due to busy Canada Day
We had nelgiri mushroom curry with paratha, both tasted amazing. We get 2 parathas/rice with a curry making it an affordable deal. Ambience is bad it was too hot the day we went no proper air conditioning. Vegetarian options: There are veg curries and biryanis for veg option
Came for the lunch buffet on a weekday and the food was super tasty! Great paratha and all the gravies for the curries were so flavourful - especially the chickpea masala, pepper lamb, and butter chicken. The food was replenished and refilled throughout so everything was hot and fresh!
Consistently delicious lunch buffet.
Great authentic south Indian food.
Good food. Not as spicy as I wanted it to be but the service and ambience makes up for it.
Food is not what you expect it to be. Dosa is plain with no flavours like you get at other south Indian restaurants. The coconut chutney is coming out from their frozen storage. All this disappointment is also at a very high price especially like idli plate is priced at $15
The service was friendly and the food was delicious! The servers could have used extra help once it got busier in the evening, but they were hustling.
Kochin Kitchen is a restaurant in Ottawa that specializes in South Indian cuisine, particularly Keralan dishes. Heres a quick overview of what diners can expect: Pros: * Authentic flavors: Reviewers consistently praise the restaurants delicious and authentic Kerala dishes. * Variety of options: The menu offers a good selection of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options alongside meat curries and seafood specialties. * Friendly service: Many reviewers mention the warm and welcoming service provided by the staff. Cons: * Limited seating: The restaurant may get crowded, so its recommended to book a table in advance, especially during peak hours. * Parking availability: Parking can be challenging in the area, so consider taking public transportation or ride-sharing if possible. Overall, Kochin Kitchen is a great choice for anyone looking for a delicious and authentic South Indian dining experience in Ottawa. The wide variety of dishes, friendly service, and focus on fresh ingredients make it a popular spot. Just be sure to book a table in advance and consider your transportation options if youre driving.
We ordered kodanadu chicken, parrota, chicken dum biriyani( wont be like a regular biriyani. but, we liked the taste). Everything was freshly made. Taste was so nice. Kids and us enjoyed the food
Kerala Porotta is top class! Pairs well with Lamb Kurma.
Excellent food variety. Everything tastes well and good service.
It s a great experience for me and my friend for the first time in Ottawa tasting Kerala food.. ROJI WAS VERY KIND We really enjoyed and food was amazing please do try if you get a chance.
Food is good. However, the washroom was not. Cleanliness is non negotiable in washrooms (men). Paper towels to dry hands is required or maybe just a blow dryer installation could fix the issue. It was a cramped space. Barely had space to move around. Not recommended if you are travelling with your child in stroller. We were at the last half an hour of the buffet and most of the items were exhausted. Would have liked the food better if I had get to eat coconut chutney, paysum, and parotha. Vegetarian options: Limited options for vegetarians Parking: The lot for parking (underground) had a big FULL written all over and the owner was rudely asking us to return, twice!! Parked on street. It was free for Sunday but I think we just got lucky after 20 minutes of search Kid-friendliness: It is not kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: It doesn t have a ramp and not recommended if you on wheelchair
This place is definately under rated. The food is tasty and is more similar to indian spicy than other Indian-Canadian places. The portions are small but the prices are also reasonable. Staff were nice but he service could be faster. I also tried Sambharam - Buttermilk for the first time which is reminding me of Persian doogh
Parking: big city of ottawa parking garage right next door Food
The server was rude. Food was varied from pleasant to bland. The buffet seemed rushed.
Worst Paroto I ever had , My cheeks are painful while eating Beef curry tasteless, Chicken very hard, Serve time is very high Overall be hungry rather than taking food here
One of the best South Indian restaurants in Ontario
Food is simply phenomenal - that pretty much sums it up. Everything was delicious. We happened upon this restaurant and couldnt be happier. We had the buffet and the only issue was that food was getting over and staff was having a hard time refilling. A must try in my opinion.
Authentic Kerala Restaurant and food was very tasty
Last time was way better than today in terms of taste. Service is great.
Very nice quiet place with an excellent buffet. Im not Indian, so took advice on the dishes: not too spicy means use caution! Kerala rice is excellent to soften hot bites; the Gulab Jamun is a perfect dessert.
This is the best Jamaican breakfast spot in Ochi. The owner was super kind to my daughter and I, and the food is delicious and affordable.
Me and my sister ordered the lamb thali, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Given its location, it does attract the odd few quirky characters, but the service is great and the waiter handled the situation calmly. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of rice they gave in their Thalis too. Definitely a must try and will be back to try their buffet. This place is also definitely one of the more affordable take out/dine in choices within Ottawa right now. Parking: Free parking after 5:30pm but there is also an adjacent paid parking lot available.
Experience was great. The service and staff were good and responsive to our concerns. Went there 1 hr before closing hence cant comment on atmosphere rating. Food
Great ambience
Worst Experience to visit. They are serving the cold food in the buffet. It is suppose to be hot food. Didn t like the food at all.
Worst place ever visited in ottawa if you want to waste your money this place is the best to waste your money No employees where there at reception when we enter we waited for 5-7 mins and then the person arrives Food was cold and taste horrible These guys where spending money on marketing for $20 food They need to spend money on good chef s rather than marketing
Loved food
Exceptional buffet and great hospitality. Really enjoyed it!
the buffet here is wonderful and the cheapest its really tasty and worth it.i really liked the experience Food
The food was delicious. Everything worth the price.
Delicious lunch buffet! Server was very attentive and kind. All staff were wonderful.
They recently opened an amazing buffet! The woman serving us was great as well! Definitely will be coming again
This place is unreal The eggplant, masala dosa and salmon curry SLAPPED Food
Very unhygienic place. The table that we ate at was not cleaned properly and was stinking the old time.
Visiting this hotel was an unexpected delight that left us feeling like we had found a slice of home in Canada. It was our first time experiencing such authentic flavors outside of India, and we were thoroughly impressed. The ambience of the hotel only added to the overall experience. The cozy atmosphere enveloped us like a warm embrace, making us feel instantly at ease. Behind the scenes, the chef and staff worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of our visit was perfect. Overall, our experience at this hotel exceeded all expectations. From the tasty food to the welcoming ambience and outstanding customer service, everything was exceptional.
Weekday buffet is a must try where you can experience some of the South Indian cuisine especially Kerala food. Since going to this restaurant once in a while when we are in Ottawa it lost its charm and atmosphere while comparing to good old days. Time for renovations!
Some of the best Indian food in Ottawa, delicious brunch buffet
Great food, nice staff and great prices.
Great quality, value and speed. Its buffet so its ready for you as you walk in the door. Highly recommend.
The lunch buffet is a gem, cozy place tasty food at a reasonable price.
Kochin Kitchen surpassed my expectations! The buffet not only featured an array of delectable dishes but also included authentic South Indian delights that added a special touch. The economic pricing made this culinary experience even more appealing. A must-try for anyone seeking a flavorful and budget-friendly dining option!
Kochin Kitchens buffet may not boast an extensive collection, but what it lacks in quantity, it certainly makes up for in quality. The offerings were authentically crafted, and each dish showcased a commitment to top-notch ingredients. The limited selection ensured that each item on the buffet was meticulously prepared, resulting in a culinary experience that exceeded expectations. If you appreciate quality over quantity, Kochin Kitchens buffet is a definite win.
For anyone looking for some good authentic south Indian food , this is the place ! Vegetarian or meat lovers will have so many options . Strongly recommend this place.
Tasty food with real Indian spices loved every bite!
Best place for South Indian foods. Their ambience is just awesome. I personally satisfied with their services.
The ambience is very nice, food they serve is super delicious and great service.
Amazing Buffet, Easy on the pocket, exceptional flavours and great customer service. Highly recommend.
It s a cool place to be
Had a delightful experience at this Indian spot. The ambiance is cozy, and the staff is friendly. The biryani was a standout, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Will definitely be back!
Loved the food, service and especially the atmosphere!!!!
Very nice food and good atmosphere.
Good food Good people
We dined in as a family. Being vegetarians we still had great options. Jean was very helpful and smiling. They have a daily lunch buffet. Its worth a shot.
Good service, friendly staff
Amazing food and great customer service.
Loved the food! No time to take pictures
My wife & I enjoyed the luncheon buffet last week. The offerings, including lamb & chicken, along with several vegetarian options, were well executed & delicious. We will definitely go back. We are now curious about the evening a la carte menu which we hear is very flavour forward.
Great buffet, tasty & variety of homely food.
I loved the daily buffet at the downtown location, it is $20 & they offer a great variety of options! They have salads, soup, curries, porotta, rice & desserts..The service & ambience are great as well.
Authentic south Indian cousine.
Loved going with a new keralan friend and listening to him order delicious keralan specialties great dinner
We went in for the $20 (probably $25 on weekends) lunch buffet on a Saturday afternoon. The waitress was nice and friendly, but there wasn t much service after. The food was hot and fresh as there were many customers so there was faster turnovers. The taste was decent for the price point and there was a good selection as well. The whole buffet section was pretty small and tight to walk through if there was a lineup as there were customers sitting right beside. All in all, a nice experience! You get what you paid for and it s tasty enough.
Amazing lunch option
Good hotel for South Indian food. Food is delicious. Service can be improved. Overall it is recommended to visit it.
Food is excellent and worth of every penny you put.
Best Kerala food in Ottawa. The ambience and service is so great.
This place has amazing food and is pretty inexpensive compared to all other restaurants in Ottawa. Cute little spot, highly recommend.
If you re looking for good South Indian food, look no further! I ve been to and ordered from a few places in Ottawa and Kochin Kitchen takes the cake. Everything I ve tried - the thali, pepper lamb, lamb kurma, is unreal and the prices are incredible for what you get. Everything is fresh, the service is great and you don t sit there waiting forever for food. The description says laid back but I would disagree, the vibe in there is pretty fancy (tea light candles, separate rooms, intimate and dim lighting). Overall, amazing restaurant and 10/10 would recommend!
Ok in general, nothing more. Very good butter chicken.
The buffet maybe good to visit during lunch time, however, try avoide going there during night time. Every thing is very expensive and the quantity of the food is very less... For the money that you are going to spend at this place is not worth it, rather you would visit another restaurant to have good quality food with reasonable prices. Try to avoide this place If you can... I would give this place 0 rating, but I cant go any lower than that..... So I came here with my wife and 4 kids and I asked for a family size meal, however they dont offer family size. Im like wth. So I decided to order some mango lessi and the tasted like Walmart mango yogurt. This was very disappointing to me and my kids. It was so embarrassing I think my wife will divorce me.
One of the worst Kerala buffet I ever had. The name is of the restaurant is Kochin Kitchen and they are serving North Indian type of dishes. And the price is like killing price. 28.99 per person. I wont recommend this place to anyone.
Good place and tasty food
Amazing place to find delicious Indian food . parathas are the best
Delicious Indian food, so much so that we returned the next day!!!!
Authentic Kerala food Amazing ambience and customer service Food
Amazing Kerala food.. A must place to visit in Ottawa.
I highly recommend this place for authentic kerela food. I ordered Veg Thali and my friend ordered Beef roast curry and we are 110% satisfied with meal. Their service was also soooo good. I like the vibe over there. If anyone wants to try something in veg try there veg thali with mushroom curry it s heaven
Exceptional flavors! This South Indian restaurant truly captures the essence of South Indian cuisine. From the aromatic spices to the perfectly dosa, each dish is a delightful journey for the taste buds. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a top choice for anyone craving authentic South Indian delicacies
Great variety of curries in buffet. Also including dosa, idli and vada. Food tasty and well prepared. Loved pineapple pullisery. Weekend buffet only $25
It s simply amazing! The food is delicious and the server is really nice!
Great food, I could eat 100 porotta ! The server was very sweet and answered all our questions very quickly !
This restaurant offers a fantastic selection of traditional South Indian dishes that transport you straight to the heart of the region. The dosas are crispy, the sambar is rich, and the coconut chutney is a perfect accompaniment. The attentive staff adds to the overall enjoyable dining experience
Great selection when it came to the buffet!
Best South Indian restaurant in Ottawa. And again, still the best in town :)
A can of pop is $3.50
Best kerala food
Food is sub par. Pappadums are soft and wimpy (and not true Kerala pappadums). Service is very inefficient. Not worth the visit.
We tested 2 different things, once eaten in the restaurant and once to-go. The food on site was really good. Service attentive and also quick. Price-performance was absolutely fine. Unfortunately we werent so happy with the to-go meal. Therefore only 4 stars.
We have been here few years ago and the food was decent. This time we just want to have a good south indian food and came here to experience the very bad quality food. Very hard and dry chicken wings, parotta which is very hard to chew, bland peas pulav without salt, and mediocre curries. Not going to come back.
Miam!! I recommend it was delicious and the staff was really nice!
If you are Indian, and looking for South Indian/vegetarian food, don t go here. You will be disappointed and will be wasting your money. We tried Onion Pakoda, Uttapam, and masala dosa and got disappointed. Sambar had no taste. Vegetarian options: Don t go for vegetarian food here.
Compared to the other Indian food choices in the vicinity, I feel this place offers less for more $$$. The flavors are more bland and the place wasnt the cleanest. The tables were sticky and portions small. There are better choices in the market.
Tasty food, good selection , reasonable price and great service!! Clean washrooms too!!!
