I visited Rama Krishna restaurant for breakfast and was impressed by both the food and the service. It was such a great experience that I decided to return for lunch, this time bringing a friend. Sana welcomed us warmly, guided us to our table, and took our order with a pleasant and friendly way. The food was just as amazing the second time. I ll definitely be going back whenever I feel like having an authentic Indian meal!

I loved their food. We ordered 3 paneer vegetables and all were amazing. The flat breads and sweets were all on point. Satisfied the taste buds!! Staff is very cooperative and prompt. Ambiance is absolutely soothing yet elegant. Totally loved the experience.

We really loved this place and the food here was simply delicious and the coffee here was outstanding.

Tiny portions if you order curry. Youll basically get a small bowl of sauce with a few chunks of meat and vegetables. Not worth the cost or even the wait.

Our family eats around. Over 30 Desi restaurants in Ottawa, I think. And RamaKrishna, you are something special! We ordered takeout for ten and I called directly. You were a great guide, suggesting delicious dishes and helping us create a vegetarian menu that arrived in an hour. Our meal was delivered by Amith Salhotra, the chef. We must have been en route for him. He was so friendly, and clearly loves his craft. Everything was seasoned to our liking, from mild to spicy. Each dish had a delightful nuance of flavour, reminiscent of Coconut Lagoon with its use of whole and ground spices, homemade paneers, and gravies. The roti, paratha and naan were top notch, with the paratha being my flaky, soft and crispy favourite. For our ten mains, each sauce was distinct, remarkable when some restaurants liberally apply their base gravies to many dishes. Mushroom mutter, vegetable biryani, bindi, pakoras, aloos and paneers were all fantastic. Our family ate with much less chatter than normal, and four of them remarked this is really, really good. I ll definitely be back, and I hope you ll be there too! Thanks for being a part of our community!

Nice food, nice place n nice people

This Indian restaurant is great. We visited Ottawa from the UK and called in on a Saturday night without a reservation, not a problem, even though it was quite busy. The food is wonderful, good potions and with fantastic service. To top it all very reasonable priced. If you like Indian food I can recommend this restaurant

Several times trying out this restaurant, I ordered take out. The order was ready early so no waiting. The web site gives an accurate timing. Staff was prompt and courteous when I picked up my order. The good was amazingly good! Will definitely try again and maybe eat in as decor looked great! Dining in is amazing, great authentic atmosphere. Service is top notch...one of the best restaurants in Ottawa I have been in.

I came to eat here for lunch. I took the Thali special which is very affordable. The curries were delicious and the service attentive.

If you are looking for Authentic Indian food in Ottawa, this is your place to go. Due to Ambience setting, you might not find the food pics to be appealing. However, looks can be sometime deceiving. Do try them out if you already haven t.

We had the pleasure of dining at RamaKrishna Restaurant recently, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delightful, with each dish bursting with authentic flavors and expertly balanced spices. The curry was rich and creamy, the naan was perfectly fluffy, and the biryani was aromatic and satisfying. Equally impressive was the service. The guy who served us was Patrick and was attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed passionate about ensuring a great dining experience. Just went to this restaurant with my family, and all the waiters are super charming. You ll feel as if you are being pampered constantly. Everyone is super welcoming, and the food is beautiful. Still sizzling as it reaches the table, all the flavours fill out super well. Plus a beautiful bar. Overall is 10/10 experiences, would go again. Kid-friendliness: Kids are treated very well.

We ordered paneer lababdaar and Roti. Not great, okayish. Breads were too thick.

We tried Aloo kulcha at Ramakrishna Restaurant and it was really delicious, the service was just perfect and the atmosphere of the restaurant was really good .

Not sure if there was a chef change but been here twice in July and the food was amazing but we ordered today and the biryani + Butter chicken were lacking flavor. Felt like we ate from a completely different restaurant than what we had tried before

I was here with a group of friends, cant say the food is the best but it is good. The service here was phenomenal. I cant remember our servers name but he was tall, thin and had curly hair. He made sure everyone had their order and was well known with the menu. The place could be better, two of our chairs were wobbly.

I love the food and the service was amazing. Even if you guys want new things to eat they just came to you ask your needs and then prepare food. Love the chief and their attitude was down to earth.

Update - introducing breakfast menu!! Dine and take out your favorite paranthas and bhature. Must try the Tandoori soya chaap. Served with rice, gravy and salad. Good portion size too. Interesting and delicious cocktails too. Its nice, we ordered Veg platter, mango paneer combo and rasmalai. The dishes were good. Breads were a bit salty to our taste. Ambience is nice and the staff is courteous. The place looked really clean overall including the washrooms. Prices are reasonable too. Will go next time to try other dishes as well.

Its a nice little place with great staff and excellent food. The spice levels were roughly in line with what Ive had from similar places. It was a great experience overall. Vegetarian options: Their menu has a fairly large vegetarian section. I really like their paneer based dishes. Kid-friendliness: There arent a ton of items for younger children who havent gotten into Indian food yet. Depending on the kid they may be fine with just fries and a mango lassi but otherwise the selection is limited.

Our go to for Indian food in Ottawa. Food is always amazing. All the staff are some of the most friendly and helpful people I have had the pleasure to deal with.

In the Indian restaurants I have observed that all the curries taste like pretty similar but I find this is the only place which provide varieties in the taste. I have ordered four curries and each taste different than the other. I love the food and the service too.

Consistently delicious food. Big portions Good entrées. Amazing cocktails, the ginger martini handmade by the bartender was a great touch. Our waiter was very attentive and polite. My partner and I had a great time and have each time we ve been before.

I ordered three dishes, namely Kadhai Paneer, Malai kofta, and Veg Jalfrezi. Out of 3 curries, two were extremely delicious. However, the taste of Malai kofta and its quality was very awful. Moreover, the quantity of the ingredients in the curries was less. For instance, the panner cubes were in less amount in the Paneer handi, kofta were around 4 pieces in the entire Malai Kofta curry. In a nutshell, this place is well suitable for Dine In only.. Please dont try to get take out or delivery from this restaurant...

Went to this resturant and not only was the food and service incredible but our server Rahul was the best. Always was so engaging and considerate with our time and order, and both my date and I were very interested in everything he had to say. We will definitely come back more often if we have him as a server everytime!

BIG NO. Spoiled my day. I visited this restaurant after looking at good rating. I had the worst experience here. Ordered chicken biryani and chicken tikka masala. Biryani is like tomato rice and tikka masala is full of tomato puree and very sweet. Chicken tastes bad. BIG NO for this restaurant. I dont recommend.

Best Halal Indian restaurant in town ... Love all their food

It was our first time going to this restaurant and eating Indian food. WOW! There were about 3 tables taken including ours, so we were able to enjoy the atmosphere. The food was very good and fresh. The service was excellent. The waitress came to see us 3 times while we were eating to see if everything was okay and if the spice level was good. I highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed!

We were a group of 14. Courteous, attentive and fast service. Delicious food at a more than reasonable price. 5 minutes from Hull (Gatineau).

Best and most consistent Indian takeout in the city

The food is so satisfying and the service is so quick. We ordered thandoori chicken, garlic naans, mutton Rogan gosh along with some other dishes, satisfied with all of them. Most recommended.

Honestly the food is not what you looking for, you can find many other better restaurants at this price point. We ordered many different types of gravy - all blended one and same. Atmosphere felt dull.

We were extremely disappointed with the food! Had read pretty good reviews and we were excited to try but unfortunately it turned out to be a damp squib! The only good thing about this restaurant was its ambience! Would not recommend this place!

OUTSTANDING!!!! Shared butter chicken, paneer and coconut rice between two people. Amount of rice was conservative but it was easily overlooked with how delicious it all was. Will definitely be coming back!!! Thank you for the amazing service.

Edit: April 10th 2024. Been eating here since 2020, but personally ordered in 2021 and left a review. The last 3 times we have ordered from here, the meat has been non existent and the they have sent tikka masala instead of butter twice. I let it go but today just irked me, the garlic naan has little to no garlic on it. We cant even smell it or taste it in the naan. The fries were soggy and covered in black bits, your oil fryer needs to be changed. Also, you guys stapled the container closed, oil leaked out all over the place. I left notes about the fries and they were ignored, same as last time. Im not sure what happened, but the last three orders I made were to introduce your food to new people and each time iv looked stupid as we pull this food out. Just really disappointed, I live the food here but its nit been great lately :( We ordered today, April 12th 2021, via uber and it was delicious. Rogen Josh was tasty, lamb was succulent. The Paneer Lababdar was a little strong on the capsicum, but tasty. The Naan and rice was excellent. And my husband really enjoyed the Mint chutney. The fries, ordered just because and they did not disappoint. Very crispy and still hot. Over all, good price and portions. Cant wait till we can all dine in safely again so that we can come in for the full experience.

Nice place Update: I have ordered here multiple times for over a year and love the place. I tried most of the curries and all of them are delicious. My favourite thing is the palak paneer - their paneer is extremely soft! The staff are very friendly and were even kind enough to offer recommendations with me when I discussed my attempts to make my own paneer. My boyfriend is not a big fan of indian food, but he is a bit addicted to their butter chicken poutine and mango lassi. They truly make high quality food. This is easily my favourite Indian restaurant out of all the ones I have tried in Ottawa, Peel and the rest of the GTA.

During my brief stay in Ottawa, I opted to dine at Ramakrishna restaurant for both lunch and dinner, and the experience was delightful. The pakoras were a perfect blend of softness and crispiness. The main courses, featuring dal makhni and dal tadka, were exceptionally flavorful, with portions generously serving 3-4 people. The Paneer Tikka Masala, while good, leaned slightly towards sweetness, and the Bhindi Masala was a true gastronomic delight. Tandoori rotis added the perfect touch with their softness. However, the only drawback was the subpar quality of crockery used. Despite this, the servers were outstandingly friendly and polite, earning full points for their hospitality. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Ramakrishna and plan to return on my next visit to Ottawa. This restaurant is amazing. Went on a date with my girlfriend to celebrate her 20th birthday and we were well welcomed served by waiter K. The drinks were delicious and the food arrived quickly. I am just gonna say I travel to India for a couple of months every year. Coming back to Canada, its hard to find good Indian food especially in Ottawa. Toronto is another story, where there are more options. I would say there is actually no 5 star Indian food in all of Canada even eating in Toronto especially for non veg. The problem is that in India they literally get the meat fresh that day and always cook on fire(they have no regulation for indoor fire). That being said I would say RamaKrishna is one of the best restaurants in Canada for Indian food. The owner is very kind and respectful. But even more important than that, the food is great. Only negative I would say is, that sometimes it feels like they change their ingredients. For example when they first opened the restaurant their samosas were amazing but recently it feels like there is less potato and the breading is not as good as before either. Other than that, I would say this is the best restaurant for Indian food in Ottawa. Its funny because previously this had a different owner and different name but it was also the best Indian food(by a Bangladeshi) in Ottawa. The pricing is decent, the location is great right in downtown and the atmosphere inside is nice and comfortable. Their buffet is also quite good but I mainly do the takeout.

Great service, but worst food ever I had. We ordered paneer do pyaaza where we asked them for mild spice and they just added spices like nothing. And then mushroom mattar was so spicy. Worst experience ever.

The food is above average here, but the service bad. We had a server named Sana. She put candles on all the tables while she came with the glasses of water, except on our table and another group of desi people. Thats not a big deal. Its when we wanted to order something but couldnt not get a hold of her, so I asked another waiter who was serving us, to order a roti, he said he will ask Sana to take our order, but it was more than 10 minutes and she did not show up. Then another server came with our food, so I asked him to check on the ETA of the roti I ordered, after a while, he came with 2 rotis.. I told him I ordered only one and he said we can have it and they wont charge us, I told him that it will go to waste as we only need one.. so he took one. After a while that first server came and taunted me that from next time, only place your order with your server, as we had misunderstanding and made extra roties. Excuse me, our server did not show up and I had to wait almost half an hour for just 1 roti and noone puched in my order so how would I know. I wanted to give it 3 stars for the food but because of the behavior of all the staff, I am giving it one star.

We went there by chance as we were passing through Ottawa, the first glance of restaurant gives you good vibes, but food was average, we ordered Okra and it was half cooked, paneer was so ok as we asked for spicy so they literally just added chillies and made it, we could just taste chillies rather than any flavours. Dal tadka,Samosa, buttermilk was good. We had service issues as the server didnt followed up order properly and we to ask again and again to check as it was getting too late. While asking them to check the order, they didnt listen properly and considered as multiple order. Recommendation: Do not order Okra masala

I wrote my original review 4 years ago and all these years later, their food is still excellent. I ordered the chicken vindaloo and beef madras curry and both were very good. The chicken to potato ratio was very good in the vindaloo. Their beef was so tender and the curry was so flavourful. Really reminds me of home.

BEWARE when ordering from here through UBER EATS. They give you poor quality food and poor portions. They have setup with Uber so even if they mess up your order you won t get Refunds or Reorder and your money will be flushed. I received raw uncooked gravy and another was burnt. Complained to Uber support and they didn t help me said they can neither refund me or replace my order . So I wasted 44 dollars on inedible food . So if you are ordering from here be ready to go hungry and also waste your money if your order is messed up. Surprisingly I have eaten here in-person and food portions and quality is not bad when you eat in-person. Almost feels like to make money, portions and quality is reduced for Uber orders.

Avoid their direct delivery, it took over 2 hours on a Thursday evening. User Uber Eats if need be. Butter Chicken sauce tasted similar canned ravioli tomato sauce.

Hey folks who love Indian cuisine, I had few guests from BC and took them to Ramakrishna as the reviews were good. Nice ambience, friendly and professional staff are the positive factors. Food was average.We have ordered mixed Platter appetizer which was pretty decent in quantity and 3-4 people can easily share it. Samosas were just ok 3/10,fish pakora not flavourful, onion pakoras were nice ,tandoori chicken was good. ALERT- Please kindly avoid aloo parata, we have ordered that and in no time our tummy became gas producing factory.If you dont wanna be a rocket Please avoid such potato based and butter rich rotis as one piece was enough to ruin our whole evening. If you go on a date you will be screwed if you order such items. I felt I should write as its a social responsibility. Good news is that, there are a lot of good Indian restaurants in ottawa these days and its important for restaurants to be mindful of the quality and price as the market is very competitive. I hope restaurants would consider adding healthy ingredients which is the highlight of indian cooking. Jai Bharat!

Absolutely amazing in every way. We get amazing quality food every time! Plus, even though they are full, they still have great service. You can t go wrong here. We always love dal makhani! And chicken rogan josh, and paneer lababdar. Medium is a little spicy for us, even though we are used to ordering medium, here we do mild-medium.

Yesterday my friend and I ordered Tandoori Soya chaap, shahi paneer,aloo Parantha, onion bhaji,veg pulao,raita ,roti and Malai kofta taste was very good service was amazing our server (Zheng) she was very pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend to all my friends.

The ambiance was good we ordered paneer lababdaar and navratan korma.. paneer was soo delicious.. but navratan korma was okayish paneer tikka in starters was really good cz that was the only veg option they had for starters.. drinks virgin mojito were soo good..overall a good place to dine in..

Smelled something delicious as we were walking by on the street. Glad we stopped to give it a try! Everything tasted wonderful and authentic and the service was excellent. Will definitely be back.

[French following] My 2 friends and I had dinner at Ramakrishna restaurant on Sunday October 22, 2023, it was our first time in this establishment. Only 3 tables occupied for lunch time, so very quiet. The food was excellent, Indian flavors and spices in perfect quantity. Aloo tikki, samosas, chicken tikka masala, chana masala, chicken vindaloo, jeera rice, mango lassi, nan bread (regular, garlic, potato stuffed). Everything was very delicious! We ate too much, it was so good, and all 3 of us left with leftovers. The service was impeccable, we had a very friendly and engaging young Indian waiter. An experience to be repeated, thats for sure! My 2 friends and I lunched at the Ramakrishna restaurant on last Sunday, October 22. It was so good we ate too much and we still left, all 3 of us, with leftovers. The service, given to us by a very nice and engaging young Indian waiter, was impeccable. We will have to go back for more!

Nice place with good food and service

First time visitor and will absolutely be returning! Not only was the food exquisite (the lamb vindaloo was so tender and a perfect spice level), the atmosphere was lovingly curated to make for such a lovely dining experience to share with friends and loved ones. Our server was fantastic and charming, and we were checked on multiple times by what Im assuming was upper management that we were enjoying ourselves and being well looked after. Was very impressed by the mocktail options as well for non-drinkers who still want something fun and unique. Amazing place! Vegetarian options: Wide variety!

We ordered Daal Makhani and Veg Jalfrezi with Rice and Naan. Daal was great and tasted authentic however Veg Jalfrezi was a rip off and just vegetables socked in tomato ketchup. Rice was good but Naan felt like ready made from stores and not at all Tandoor made! Service was prompt and ambiance was ok. Table offered had broken chair! Pricing is on higher side considering quality. All in all ok and worth not visiting again.

This is by far our favourite Indian restaurant. The food is superb, plentiful and well presented. The staff is very attentive and friendly.

Dont order from here for delivery. It has been three hours ordering food costing and its still not delivered. Our family has been waiting for dinner and they keep adding time when you call (ten minutes more, fifteen more). Its very expensive food for this kind of service.

Ramakrishna, you lost a customer. As much as we enjoyed the food from this place, they are inconsistent and unpredictable. I have had more bad experiences than positive ones. We have given this place so many chances, and are finally fed up. They have messed up our order 3 times now. On a 4th occasion I had found a piece of plastic in my rice. 1. Forgot the naan a few months ago. 2. Forgot a whole order of rice 4/5 weeks ago. 3. This evening they messed up the spice levels, to a point that I can t tolerate eating the food. And as mentioned found plastic in our rice on another occasion. One of the first times we ordered from here, we were told a certain time for pick up, and upon arrival it took them an extra 25 minutes. Sucks because the food is good when they don t mess up. We will be looking for a new Indian restaurant.

The food is really good, the service and the staff is exceptional. The curries were made to the spice level we asked and naan were soo fresh. Highly recommend.

Great food. We went on what I thought would be a quiet night, but then realized it was Diwali. Even with the extra customers, everything was great. Well done!

This is a nice Indian restaurant near Rideau. I went there with a group, it was easy getting a reservation for a large group if booked beforehand. I had higher expectations from the Paneer Lababdar, and the Garlic naan was a bit raw. Mango Lasso was the best part of the meal. Probably its the dish I ordered that I didnt like, will try some other dishes next time.

Were big fans of Indian food and this place was amazing! The naan had a perfect texture, the mixed tandoori plate was deliciously savory, and the service was top notch (including a nice surprise for a birthday we were celebrating). If I had to offer feedback it would be to introduce lunch combos/specials but other than everything was great!

I always go to rama krishna once a week for the dinner with my friends. This is called the quality of the food. Very friendly staff !! Superb service !! Very tasty food !! All should try my favourite paneer tikka masala with garlic naans !!!
