62 William St, Ottawa, ON K1N 5V9, Canada
Sizable 2-story Irish pub offering classic comfort eats, live music on weekends & patio seating.
Nice location with French Quarter style upstairs balcony. The seafood chowder had a good flavor and came mainly with fish, shrimp and vegetables. The fish and chips we ordered had one huge piece of fish filet in a nice crunchy batter. The wait staff was friendly and service was quick. We sat at a table upstairs and had a nice view of the street surroundings. Overall prices were reasonable and we had a good experience.
They were able to accommodate our large party upstairs. The waitress, Mia, was great! My corned beef sandwich was good although it could have used more corned beef and cabbage. My friend's portions on the bangers and mash and braised lamb shank could have been bigger too. I have read other reviews regarding complaints on portion sizes. We did enjoy the taste of our food and it was worth the visit.
Great location, large patio, and enjoyable view of the street. We stopped there twice during our stay in Ottawa for a drink and a bite. Nachos wasn't great, somehow mushy. But other than that, I have nothing negative to say. Quick and prompt service, very entertaining life music, good vibe, good crowd. We'll definitely be back.
If you are in no rush, come to this place, the service is slooooooooooooow. We waited 20 minutes for a menu and another 20 minutes for our drinks sitting upstairs on the balcony. The place was not too busy which surprised me on how slow the service was. The food was not worth the money, ($136.01 included 2 drinks ) we had the seafood chowder ($21) which was salty and lacking the actual seafood and curried mussels ($18)which were average. The main course consisted of Lamb shank ($38) which was not bad, but the curry chicken ($23) was terrible with large pieces of almost raw onions and red pepper - I couldn't eat it. Total time for lunch was 2 hours. With the good review on this place we thought we would have enjoyed our lunch, but this review is reality.
My order is a bit small. God today feature Salman salad while the size is big enough. Both taste ok. The front desk staff is very nice while our waitress is not in good mood today. Didn’t see her smile at all and we even didn’t get a bottle of water until we asked for.
If you want to feel the Irish atmosphere while in Canada (particular in Ottawa), be sure to go to the ByWard Market to the ,,Aulde Dubliner & Pour House restaurant’’ This is an ideal place to feel the Irish spirit and taste Irish dishes . We were warmly welcomed, then well served with great attention to detail to our liking. We ordered •••Fish & Chips •••Banger&Mashed and •••House Wine ,, Reif Estates Chardonnay,, The food was served quickly, it was tasty, it was atmospheric and we are completely satisfied with everything. All in all I’d definitely recommend this fine establishment to locals and tourists. A great place to spend some memorable time
We couldn’t resist this place, the exterior of this restaurant is fantastic, the flowers on both the patio and the upper balcony were perfect. Inside was just a lovely. Great friendly staff and just enough options on the menu. We sat upstairs on the balcony, amazing views of the market while we ate our delicious lunch. A definite must if you are visiting Ottawa
Irish pub and eatery located across from the By Ward Market, a block away from Rideau Mall. Great food, had an Irish band playing when we visited. We noted an issue with our meal, but the waitress took care of it immediately with a replacement, and discounted the item on the bill to compensate further. Well handled with no issues whatsoever.
Stopped in for some fish and chips and a beer. Food was great and loved the large selection of beers on tap.
Its okay, food average, Im sure you could find better. Expensive for what you get.
There s no breaks for the guys working preparing the food- unless they have a smoke break. They also stand for the full shift. I saw sore legs from standing in one spot. Don t eat anywhere where there is a lack of employee rights.
Annual pilgrimage, post remembrance ceremony.
Great pub in an excellent location. Great atmosphere and staff. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
This is my go to place when I hang out with non-Ottawans (Aka losers!)
Very good attention, excellent food
Unfortunately, does not live up to the hype with Google reviews. It s a great establishment if you want a drink and a nice atmosphere. Sadly, the food was very underwhelming and the service was slow. The fish and chips were bland and consisted of a batter so thick it left my partner with an upset stomach. For an establishment that clearly has the reputation and reviews, this may have just been a one off experience but nonetheless a disappointing one.
Very disappointing, I been there several times in the past and always recommended friends and families there. But wont recommend anyone, they not only downsized on their menu, but the quality is VERY POOR. Once again I Do not recommend, go find another place if you want to spend some quality time.
Absolutely loved this place. Sat on the 2nd floor patio outside and people watched. The food was great and the drinks were next level. The service was amazing. Definitely try this place if you are in the area. Ill be back for sure.
I ordered the chicken wings and they were exactly whats expected for a pub. My daughter had the curry chicken and said it was very tasty. The overall menu had a lot of different options including things not typically offered in a pub. Our server was very attentive and overall was a good experience. Would recommend when visiting byward market!
Oh my goodness! The fish and chips! Best Ive ever had!! When you go have the drink writers tear, was a really good Irish whiskey.
Very nice pub with a cosy atmosphere. Jessy was a very attentive waitress! Enjoyed the evening! Food
Decent enough, sometimes hard to get service, depending on the night.
Nice enough place. The gluten-free bun on my berger was not the best. Thick cut fries were good as was the salad. And it was a little noisy, but I would go back
Great location, good vibe, and a nice view of the street. We visited twice during our stay in Ottawa for a beer and a snack.
Pretty tasty pub food but kind of pricy, to be expected in a tourist area I suppose.
Great staff, we had a pitcher of blonde beer and the spinach artichoke dip. It was incredible!
Nice pub. Full menu service done around 10 ish. Ordered off the Late night menu which we found to be mediocre
The background music was great - old school hip hop on a Thursday night.
Seared tuna salad had the smallest thinnest seared tuna ...disappointed
Went for drinks, the service was fast and the bartender was kind. Prices are standard. Wish I could have tried their food next time
Great service, very good food and a good beer selection!
Costco frozen burger and a beer ,,,,44$ later unsatisfied! , I dont mind to pay for quality but a rubber burger is hard to take Parking: street Parking is always hard to find
A nice restaurant with good food and atmosphere, it is not very expensive and most importantly you have a good time
Server and Guinness was fantastic. Irish Stew, not so much. I was hungry and short on time, otherwise would have sent it back. Food : 2/5
Typical Irish pub in the center of the neighborhood. The restaurant also has an upper floor where you can eat outside. Classic pub cuisine, from burgers to fish n chips. Average prices (20 - 35 CAD)
Responsive servers, very polite and master the elements of the menu. We didnt wait long to be served. Food was good
Great value and super food.
Great food awesome staff
Colton C. is a true salesman. Charismatic and all around good fella. The boys from Calgary say hi!
Went out for lunch with two other family members today. The food is amazing and the service was great. It was not too busy so the food was fast. I had a soup and sandwich. The soup was very delicious. I joked a little about wanting the recipe. It was their maple carrot soup. It sounds like it would not work together but it does.
The food was not good for the price. Perhaps because it was free, the employees seemed busy chatting with each other.
Do not order chicken wings, overpriced and it doesnt come with fries and they were very dry. On the other hand, the fish are chips are good though. 3/5
Warm, great service, excellent food and very generous portions.
Parking: Paid City lot close by Food
Very beautiful, amazing
Chowder was amazing ..! Fries burger fabulous....
Good food in a central area of downtown. Great atmosphere and live music.
Excellent service, perfect atmosphere, tasty fishnchips. Surely worth seeing, the festive weekend atmosphere! (I went there on a Wednesday evening).
I ve had a lot of fish and chips in the past but this one by far is the best I ve ever had. I will definitely be back. Service and atmosphere was on point also.
This pub is the reason I came to Ottawa.I saw this pub on YouTube and had to go and I was not disappointed, loved it.
The best Fish and Chips Ive had in Ottawa for quite a while. Right proper. None of that frozen Sysco crap! As for the coleslaw, meh. Our server was quite pleasant and the byward market, always entertaining!
Very welcoming staff. We had a great time.
Great atmosphere and food. Love the balcony seating.
Excellent service !!
Food is awesome!
Service was quite good but the food was very average and overpriced for what you get.
Had a nice drop-in Friday. Great vibe. Nachos are really good. Our server Jessica was a real pro.: pleasant and efficient! Thanks! Food
Bangers and Mash for the first time and delicious to the last bite!
Wonderful place, highly recommended Jerk chicken sandwich is must try Chicken curry too Food : 5/5
Wow....just wow. I ordered the curry chicken and I thought it would be very basic and it was alive with flavour. My wife ordered the bangers and mash, which I tried, and flavour was amazing. Very good prices, genuine fast service and great food.
Decent burger and overly salty poutine, but nothing to write home about. Add a diet coke, and the bill was $36.00. Again, all good, just not great.
We were only there for drinks but they do have a good craft beer selection. Megan was a friendly and attentive server.
Food is terrible at this place. All of our items that should of been hot were cold. If you just want to drink this is your place Food
This is a great spot to grab a meal and a drink or two, prices are decent but they need more choices of wine, beer selection is great but again they are not cheap. Parking: Just a heads up if you are sitting by the fence at ground level as the panhandlers are bothering you.
Bacon cheeseburger was very weak and felt like a small portion, even with the good fries. Service was excellent and everyone seemed lovely. Great place for drinks, I may rethink ordering food again though
Fantastic service and food was pretty darned good!
Great staff and good food.. music slightly loud.
This place is in heart of Ottawa and has great ambience, great food and great service.
Didnt have food there, but the cocktails are quite inventive. Staff is nice and friendly but do not inform you when they charge you extra for your drink... (my friend was asking what type of gin would be in her cocktail, the waiter answered her by asking which one she would like from a given list but didnt inform her that shed have to pay extra for it) Live music was super nice!
A good Irish pub. Had some time before an event and popped in for a drink and a quick bite. Great service. Staff was helpful and attentive. Good price too. Parking: Street parking Wheelchair accessibility: Its on the main level.
Best fish & ship according to my partner for a long time.
Lovely place in the middle of downtown Ottawa ! From a poutine amateur, given they had cheese curds from Mirabel, solid thick fries and gravy and a superb pulled jerk chicken, 10/10 ! So si vous êtes de la belle province, ils ont une délicieuse poutine ;)
Late-night port in a storm. Lauren, Lesley K and Farron D provided hospitality & victuals. With the restos in Sandy Hill closing distressingly early, have been heading to the Aulde Dubliner, a late-night port in the early closing storms. The patio is the best in the city. Cant beat the food and drink offerings, access to sports on the big screens, and people-watching opportunities as the young & restless glide by on their duly-appointed rounds. Locked my bicycle on a recent visit and was greeted & seated by Lauren, a friendly, thoughtful, and welcoming lass. Turns out shes an English major at my alma mater, and a poetry afficionado. Am an ex- Fulcrumite so the literary nature of the evening was established. Lesley K came by to take my order. Selected the quart-sized Corona, hadnt had a quart-size in years, highly recommended. Took two hands to do the lime-flip but everything worked well. Went for the wings and had a basket of fries for desert. Very nice! The food was a tad overpriced but the Corona was great value-for-the-dollar. Cant beat the view from the patio. The late-night antics of Byward denizens never disappoints. Turns out Lesley is visiting from Nicaragua. She owns a restaurant called Juntos Beach Bar there, and is back in the national capital during he off- season. Good convo about Nicaragua being a safe place for expats. She recommended getting my passport and dropping by on the Pacific side. Not a bad idea. Lesley filled me in on the history of the restaurant and the affiliation with the Irish Village. Am appreciative of all things Irish, being from County Kerry on me mams side. Will order a Guinness next time and hoist one in honour of the Emerald Isle and all who left on the coffin ships for a better life in the new world. Had such a great time went back the next night. Farron D was my server. Settled on the quart-sized Corona and practiced my flips. We had a good chat about the changing times in the market. Always a lively place. We debated on the merits of ice cream vs. the Chocolate Mousse Cake. After some consideration went for the Chocolate Mousse. Recommended. Will be back to the Aulde Dubliner for late-night appreciation. Hope to sample the live music scene.
Amazing food, one of the best
Great service this beautiful hostess Grace with her beautiful smile seated us in a great spot. my husband and I had the burger very tasty. Also the seafood chowder best I ever had. Wonderful Atmosphere I highly recommend !
Great vibe good food. Best hand-cut fries Ive ever had so far in any restaurant. Vegetarian options: Not much on menu for veg Parking: On street outlet. No parking Kid-friendliness: Not kids friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Great place!
Very warm welcome from the staff. Very smiling and takes care of customers. We had a burger. The meat is very juicy and the fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside . Very nice terrace as well.
Bad service
Bloody Cesar the best Ive ever had.
Centrally based location. Waiting staff really attentive, lovely. Great sized portions. Good value.
Very busy, fast paced. Nice music, garden salad very nice, swiss cheese mushroom burger delicious. Super nice time.
Absolutely love this place. Great food and the service was wonderful. Will definitely go back. Highly recommend
Live music was a nice touch. Food was OK.. drinks were good
Great place to eat and drink. Amazing staff and food. Amazing atmosphere
The service was great. Only had a few pints with a friend. The only reason they lost a star is that its not really wheelchair friendly. I do recommend them if thats not an issue. Sköl!
Food is delicious, friendly and helpful staff, atmosphere is really nice.
Fantastic pub, great staff, great food, well located Love the patio Food
I ve been to this place more than once and I m always so pleased with my experience and time there! The food is always the highest quality, great assortment of drinks and the staff feel like family they are so kind. On my last visit, there was an unfortunate situation with an irate individual but the staff were so professional handling the situation, ensuring everyone in restaurant was comfortable and okay. Their patio is also stunning. 10/10. Must visit.
Came here for dinner and it was great the atmosphere is a total vibe and you get to people watch which is usually a show in itself lol! The fish and chips were delicious although I felt like the portions could have been bigger for the sides and the drinks. Service was kind and speedy! Ill definitely come back, there was lots we wanted to try on the menu.
Everyone enjoyed their meal The fish & chips was excellent. And what about my mango mule
Only one star cause Ive never eaten here , bit when I do Ill update survey on this place . Parking: Again like any City , parking is like all cities . Pay where you find parking . And if lucky might find free if you look for it as always . Kid-friendliness: Kid-friendly for sure . Right in the market so lots of children here . Very nice place and looks like it would be a nice place to eat and have friends around . Wheelchair accessibility: Yes it looks like there is wheelchair access here .
I got the maple bacon fries and there was nothing special about them. Finished about half of the plate.
Great location. Food was solid. Service was friendly and good.
Food and atmosphere was great. 4 stars because they charge $8 to add chicken to nachos. Thats the cost of a whole rotisserie chicken at Costco.
Please add some gluten-free choices for apps and beer.
Phenomenal Irish pub in downtown Ottawa. Extremely friendly servers, both a great patio and interior bar, giving the place a great atmosphere. The poutine and Wings are great appetizers, and the entrees were tasty as well. Definitely a place to try out if you are a fan of Irish pubs.
Lucky to get upstairs balcony table. Service great and friendly. Not rushed. Food great- had Mushroom Swiss burger and got to say it must have been one of the best Ive ever had. Chips were just right too- chunky, slight crisp to outside and fluffy inside. Reasonably priced- highly recommend
Great pub food and beer in a busy location near the O-Train Rideau Station
Nice welcome, good food. Fish & Chips and burgers very good. But the general feeling in the city is that bilingualism is on the decline and this restaurant is no different, since even if we tried to say hello and thank you everything is only in English - menu and staff, when you pay $75 for a fish & chips and a burger you expect a little effort, but no. But the people are still very welcoming and are not cold to our French.
We loved watching so many interesting people walk by on the no cars road. My spicy chicken wrap was packed with the veges i wanted. The haddock was good but my wife regretted not subing a healthier salad for fries..if that was posible. But the fries were great. Our only disappointment was we were given plastic straws which we did not want...500,000,000 used every day in US..we were impressed most Canadian restaurants gave straws only if asked for.
A very nice pub atmosphere! Typical cuisine very well done. Efficient and very friendly service.
Very welcoming and helpful staff. We ate well but the quantities remained low for certain dishes. The drinks offered are very good! I recommend.
Good spot for a late night drink
Great spot to watch the Byward Market. Food is good. Great place to visit
Rustic and classy Irish pub. Two levels of dining areas. Patio seatings available on both floors. Nice ambiance. Centrally located right in the Byward matket, downtown Ottawa. Simple menu with quality selections. Friendly and helpful staff. Street/garage parking nearby.
The drink was good but I just hate that they allow the band to play on game night
Great place to get a drink or have dinner. location is awesome, right in the market. This time we found staff was a bit standofish. Not the norm.
Not cool man.
Amazing Fish&Chips
It was a very pleasant time even with young children. The service was great. Its a beautiful place Vegetarian options: There were a few veggie choices. Kid-friendliness: A menu for them. The portions are still big enough for the little ones.
Stopped in for a quick bite while in the Byward Market. Got Garlic Parm Fries. So good! Big crispy and fluffy fries with garlicky sauce. Very pricey but the view from the top was fun.
Such a nice place to sit and enjoy a meal. The burger was delicious.
This is a great place, lathe fish was crunch and delicious, the attention was so good, open till late when the mostly of places in the area are closed.
I love fish and chips but this one wasnt good. The fish was way too battered and the coleslaw had too much mayo. However, the service was quite fast even on a busy day.
Beautiful place with delicious food and good service.
We had dinner at the Dubliner on Sunday the 30th of June. Not sure what was better, the food or the service. We started with the dumplings--great start. There were 3 of us and we were told they come as 8 pieces, our server added a 9th. Its little things like that which show outstanding customer service. Our mains were the nachos, curry and fish and chips. All outstanding. The place is fantastic and we will be back.
Everything is very rich. The girls are super friendly.
My family and I just returned from a one week trip to Ottawa and this was our favorite place. We were there three times and it was always good! We were even there on Canada Day when it was super busy and they did not skip a beat. The people are friendly, service is attentive, food and drinks are great. Amazing poutine and fries, chicken curry, stews, sandwiches, salad, desserts and my favorite the Irish Negroni! If we were local this would be our regular go-to pub.
Great experience here. I had the special today which was a smoked salmon salad - SO good. Environment, atmosphere and service was great. Highly recommend for any type of occasion :) Food
Very nice place, live music and great atmosphere.
Sometimes you need somewhere that is better than Mr. Mikes. This is one of those places Dietary restrictions: Beer
Very good Slightly busy Beware of the fiends outside Parking: Parking? Lol, lmao even.
Awesome atmosphere watching football/soccer. Almost outside on the second floor patio. The rain didnt touch us, but the cross breeze was perfect. Price reasonable considering the view of the market, beer only today though... People watching was excellent as well. Strongly recommend The Aulde Dubliner.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would! The food was absolutely incredible, the best fish and chips Ive ever had, the batter didnt leave a film in your mouth like some can, so flavourful and cooked to perfection! Portion sizes were more than generous as well. The beer and drink selection was massive, and both drinks I had were SO good! Our waitress was super friendly and welcoming, 12/10 service! I cant wait for us to visit Ottawa again so we can come back!
Excellent choice of beers and very nice patio upstairs!
Good food, good beer... the waitress wasnt the friendliest but fast and impeccable service!
A nice pub on Byward Market with fair prices. The food was good and the draft beer was delicious. We had a lovely evening with good music and friendly, attentive service people
We went to Aulde Dubliner & Pour House for drinks and enjoyed a great view overlooking the streets with plenty of people watching. We didnt eat any food there, so we cant comment on that, but the service was great!
This place has dank fries
Great view from the patio.
Thick cut fries were delicious. Brings a lovely vibe to the market.
Really fun night , very good food .
Great atmosphere and location. Like most places in the Byward Market, it is a bit pricy.
Lovely place to eat! Sat on the patio. Everyone loves their food and the service was great and quick (which was impressive considering I went on Canada day). Our table loved the burgers, fries, and salad, but a few of the muscles weren t edible (not open) and a bit bland even with the sauce. Drinks were also quite pricey so we stuck with water. The bathroom is deep in the basement down a steep flight of stairs (it s an old building so it s expected, wasn t an issue for us but good to know that it s not super accessible for those with mobility issues).
I came in late, had a good house beer and a dish of mussels and fries. Very good beer and food. Friendly receptionnist greeter. Knowledgeable and helpful waiter. A great irish pub.
Overpriced food, good staff. The Ahi Tuna salad was overpriced, with only 5 tiny slivers of ahi tuna on top. More focus on salad than the tuna. The Bangers and Mashed dish was ok, came out cold but waitress reheated it. Could have used a green veggie side and found the sausage to be rather rubbery. Mahi Mahi tuna was tasty, but not filling. Fish and chips were excellent, delicious thick cut French fries and crispy fish with tartar sauce. Overall, likely won t return here as there is an excellent Italian place across the street around the same price.
Great place for a chill night friendly service and fantastic atmosphere- loved sitting on the patio balcony ! Fish ans chips was the perfect meal ! Loved it !
Excellent food.
Been there 3 times now. They have really good food and they do have gluten free options. This time I went and tried to order the burger I got last time and the waitress thankfully told me that someone in the kitchen had alerted her that I would not be able to eat that. Last time the waitress didnt ask if if the gluten free bun was an allergy and so I had no idea that the vegetables had gluten (the butter that the veggies were cooked in contains wheat). She got me the menu to look at again and let me know what I would be able to eat, so I had the chicken curry and it was really good. I always appreciate those who are very dillegent about allergies. As someone who both has allergies and works serving food, I always check with people when they ask about certain things whether its an allergy or just preference, because I know how important the difference is. Also I dont blame the person the last time for not informing me I probably didnt make it clear enough it was an allergy last time. Im just glad that the server this time checked and I was able to get something that was good and I could feel good after eating.
I went there with my family after running the Ottawa marathon, and we were so well served outside! Really recommendable
Very busy bar and the food was very good..
For a place in the heart of the Byward Market, the Aulde Dubliner is surprisingly non-touristy. Great atmosphere, good food, and an excellent selection of beer. Overall, a lot of fun.
Stopped by this pub to grab something refreshing while exploring the Byward market for the first time. We ordered sangria with red wine which came pretty fast and it tasted amazingly good. We sat at the balcony with the view of the adjacent street( see photos below). Good vibe and service. Definitely recommend here 10/10
Its a great place and burgers are the best! I love it and will definitely go back.
A cool experience in Ottawa
Good location in Byward market! Food is great and also they have an amazing service! We ate there 3 times and the staff are always nice. Most important for us is they are dog friendly and even offer bowl for our dog!
An awesome spot to grab a cold pint and people watch.
Definitely recommend eating outside on the upper porch. The food and service were good and we were seated immediately for dinner. Would recommend it if in the area.
No matter who is on staff on any given night you are always guaranteed 10/10 service I can t recommend this place enough. Maddy in particular is super friendly and helpful but every single member of staff here is great at their job
Loved the upstair patio.
Great food and drinks. Very friendly and helpful service.
