Dal Moro's Fresh Pasta To Go - Byward in Ottawa

The filthiest bathroom I have ever seen in a dining establishment. Anthony Bourdain said you can judge the overall cleanliness of a restaurant by its bathroom. This was disgusting.

I walk there every time I think I deserve a treat after going to lectures . I usually get the bolognese pasta with linguine and parmesan. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Spaghetti bolognese tastes like canned spagetti O s, chicken Alfredo tastes like a grocery store sauce the chicken tastes fake and not fresh. Pasta quality is worse than store bought. Low quality ingredients try to pass for high end Italian food. Tastes nothing like Italian fresh pasta. Especially just coming back from Europe not long ago. Tourist trap for 15-20$ pasta, much better places around. They are trying to make a quick dollar with low quality products.

I m genuinely surprised by the positive reviews for the pasta here. I recently tried the Mamma Rosa and Pesto Alla Siciliana pastas, and both were equally disappointing. One had overcooked noodles, while the other was undercooked. As for the sauces, they had absolutely no flavour. The first few bites of our meal were atrocious. The Mamma Rosa sauce tasted similar to canned pasta sauce from the grocery store, and the Pesto Alla Siciliana wasn t much better. On top of that, the sauce is served separately from the noodles, so you have to mix it yourself, which doesn t make sense to me. Overall, Id recommend looking elsewhere for pasta this place doesn t hit the mark.

Be very careful when you visit. The giant digital menu boards show one price, but they will charge you more. I ordered the Mamma Rosa, which was advertised for something like 13.35, but on the receipt they charged me 14.60-something (before tax).

The food was mid at best. Save yourself $17 and just cook pasta at home, itll probably taste better. I got the chicken alfredo and the chicken looked a bit undercooked. that being said, itd probably be a decent drunk meal if youre really hungry after a night out in the market.

Good food, eating area could have been cleaned better but still acceptable

The food is still pretty great and the service wasn t bad either but what suprised me is the cleanliness of this place, It is so run down, everything is scratched or broken like the benches, the walls, for the bathrooms and the floors, it is absolutely disgusting that I didn t want to take any pictures but If this place is this dirty for clients, I can only imagine the behind the scene. Another great restaurant that lost it over the years.

One of the most tasty pastas weve had in a while. Warm, comforting and delicious. Highly recommend if youre in Ottawa or Toronto!

The the quality of the food you depends on how well you tip the cashier. The music was so loud my AirPods couldn t block it. Every surface in the store is sticky including the tables, chairs and floor. Wheelchair accessibility: It s very tight, There is no room for people with wheelchairs to enter the seating area.

Expensive for fast pasta, but it honestly tastes better than some proper sit down Italian restaurants.

I got the Cacio e pepe (cream sauce) and it was exactly what I ordered, nice portion and tasty. My only critique is that all of the spices are really heavy - maybe its an idea for Dal Moro to offer side salads to balance the meal. But if you are looking for a very tasty dose of fresh pasta, this is the perfect spot. 4 stars. Vegetarian options: Most of the menu is vegetaitan

The portion of pasta was really small and the sauce very basic (we had pomodoro and it was really just industrial sauce). Its expensive for what it is compared to Lulus in Montreal where I paid the same price and got double the amount of pasta

We ordered a bolognese and a pomodoro pasta. They sent only the pomodoro sauce and when we called, they asked us to buy something else so we could get the sauce.

1 star is too high. I walked in after seeing the sign for Rosemary Focaccia. The cashier barely acknowledged me and after cashing me out she walks away leaving me wondering do I grab the bread myself? I ending up taking it myself with no tongs or napkins since nothing was offered Im certain it was made days ago. I could have broken a window with it. I took my loss since it wasnt worth walking back.

Went on an Tuesday afternoon around 1pm, just my friend and I, we were the only ppl in! There s music on and the place is a vibe ordered pomodoro with added chicken, my friend got the mamma Rosa waited less than 10 minutes, piping hot pasta came out! Tasted good, flavours there, good size portions for a single person, maybe like 8oz of pasta, don t worry, it s a lot when u eat it all .we ll be back!

The pasta has gotten more expensive over the years. It is really good tho! I always order through Ritual and they prepare it really quick. The pesto and mama rosa are the best ones!

Food was good, however the girl working the day I went was extremely rude. Not only did I get treated worse than dirt on the street, but the two other customers with me in the store were receiving the same treatment. She was in such a profound condition, that I almost want to say she spit in my food. A customer in the store with me said that he was a regular and this was the first time he has seen this employee. There s a difference between having a bad day and being outright rude to everyone s existence.

Please fire the female employee who was working the late afternoon/early evening of 9 February, 2023 before she puts your restaurant out of business. Worst customer service Ive ever experienced.

Great quick on the go basic pasta dishes at affordable prices! Fresh pasta cooked al dente and the tomato flavoured sauces actually have real tomato flavour to them! Tip: It s best to go to the actually restaurant to see what pasta and sauces are available for the day as opposed to consulting their website since every time I ve been, there s been a pretty big discrepancy!

Order experience went completely horrible. I ordered two pastas and Diet Coke. And all I received was just one pasta and Coke Zero. On calling the restaurant I got a response that we are very busy and ask for refund from Uber. Manager must look after the restaurant a bit more and should train these guys better. They have no idea on how to handle orders. If you guys are so busy then why are you taking orders that can t be handled. A completely bad experience that spoiled our evening.

I have been a customer to this restaurant for several months. Ive had no complaints about the service until tonight. I understand that I ordered my food close to closing time, but I had just worked an exhausting closing shift and I couldnt get any food until I got home. Tonight, I ordered via UberEats and I tried to call about adding a note to my order, they couldnt accommodate and offered to cancel the order. I asked them not to, but they claim they misheard me and cancelled it. Despite this, they did not cancel it via the app and my uber eats driver was stuck wasting his valuable time trying to get my order even though the restaurant was closed. I called them again and they lied and said they would cancel the order but after the call was over they still left the order up in an attempt to force me to pay for my meal that they refused to cook. I had to contact support to have it handled. Very disappointing and shady behaviour.

Used to come here even before COVID and it tasted amazing! Taste is still really good, but quite disappointed by the portion which was significantly reduced. Its so tiny that barely makes a snack. Cant make a meal out of it unless you buy two and it comes to a total of 30 bucks :/

we tried the fresh pesto pasta and it was fantastic ! lower rating is for cleanliness: not sure the last time the floors were cleaned, they were black and sticky - left stickiness on my shoes after we left tables were sticky and mirrors definitely cleaned with the table rag - smudges and dirt everywhere

The Bayshore location has better noodles IMO. My son gets the cacio pepe all the time and this location seemed to be lacking in the sauce department. It was pretty dry.

I ve dined here multiple times in the past, but I ve noticed a significant decline in both service and quality in my last visit. I m confused as to why they ask if I prefer takeout or dine-in, when either way, I end up waiting by a window for 15 minutes to receive my meal. They previously had an alert system that made the wait more bearable, but its absence, combined with the extended wait, feels inconvenient. Additionally, the restaurant s cleanliness appears to have gotten worse.

This place is a total SCAM!!!! My partner and I were in the Byward Market looking for some comfort food to take home with us after a long day. We were excited when we discovered a takeout place claiming to serve up fresh pasta. We placed an order for the Pesto and Aglio, Olio, e Peperoncino pasta dishes and were told it would take about 5 minutes. We grabbed some drinks while we waited and our order was indeed ready in 5 minutes. When we got home, we took out our dishes only to realize both dishes had absolutely NO flavourings on them (only completely plain pasta). We immediately called the shop and they said they would call us back to figure out a solution. After 15 minutes, they did not call us back, so we called back. They said they were disappointed that this happened to us, and could offer a refund. Instead of refunding us over the phone promptly (which would have taken about 2 minutes), they said that a manager would call us back. We understood if it was busy and we were ok with that. After another 20 minutes and no call, we called back only for the manager to tell us that the owner would call us back. Another 20 minutes passed by and we called them back. We asked when we should expect a call and he said in about 5 minutes. We never got a call back, and when we called them back, it went straight to a voicemail that had not been initiated by the client, so we couldnt even leave a message. Being absolutely famished at this point, we decided to dig into our dishes and were even willing to forgive the whole fiasco so long as the pasta itself was good. Simply put, it was INEDIBLE!!!! The pasta was rubbery, bland, and even hardening in spots!! You could honestly make a better pasta dish with ingredients from the DOLLAR STORE!!!! PLEASE do not tell me this is fresh, home-made Italian-style pasta. As someone with Italian roots, this is a total DISGRACE and INSULT to my background!! Its now been 48 hours and still no call back (or even an apology from the start). Do yourselves (and everybody else in Ottawa) a favour: KEEP the money we wasted at your shop, cut your losses short, and dont embarrass yourselves in this business any longer! Dal Moros?? Dal Morons!!

Fresh pasta.

My recent visit to this restaurant left me thoroughly unsatisfied. Initially, I wasnt aware that the to-go plate would be served cold since it was not publicized and when I requested to have the pasta reheated, they suggested reboiling instead. After a 20-minute wait, the worker returned with an unexpected twist the manager insisted we pay for one extra plate and get the second one complimentary. This decision was baffling since we had already paid for two plates, leaving us in the uncomfortable position of being asked to pay for a total of three plates.

Technically I wouldnt say I have any complaints but no star just because I wouldnt say I was blown away by the food. The pesto was good. The other one was very spicy and lacked salt. The price, quantity and taste was overall decent. The washroom wasnt maintained, had to clean by myself a bit before use.

If you re a pasta lover like me Dal Moros is the to go place. I ve been coming to this place for a while now and I love it. The young female that happens to work there every time I come is so nice and friendly. She always greets customers nicely. 100% recommended!!

Both present staff members were very curteous and quite patient with me as I struggled to settle my mind, and stomach, on which wonderful combination to choose. Always good taste and very good pastas! I ordered often and just got a problem when ordering yesterday (i wanted a cooked meal and the meal kit they made me was uncooked. Came back the next day and they were super receptive to my issue and got dealt with accordingly. Although I m pretty sure i ordered it cooked maybe the website could be a little more clearer when you order to double check with people like me who s often doing multiple things at once. Maybe making it bold? Anyways, 5 stars! For customer service, taste and general cleanliness of the place.

The pasta here is actually pretty good. The noodles are thick and hardy. The sauce is quite traditional. (I got the bolognese). My only complaint is that it s a little too salty, and also the portion could ve been a bit bigger.

I didnt love the pesto simply because it was a heavy creamy soup base while i assumed it would be more on the dry/oily side. And it was much too basily to the point it mostly tasted like mint. It was like minty milk soup with noodles.

Oh have you not tried Dal Moro? Its FRESH pasta with actually very good sauce. Im sad for this location because its not very busy. Thats because its almost invisible in that stretch of restaurants. Even a market kiosk would work better in terms of getting noticed. Anyways, I think this is high quality food and its great for takeout.

I was pleasantly surprised by Dal Moros food. Its our last night in Ottawa and were pretty tired and did not want to go out. So, we decided to try this place. I was hesitant, but went ahead and asked for delivery. The food arrived super fast. The pasta and sauces in separate bowls so that we could mix them ourselves while still hot. The pasta was NOT overcooked, which sometimes happens. Our dessert, tiramisu, was also very good. This is an excellent option if you feel like having Italian food, but just want something that can be delivered quickly. 4 stars just because the food was a salty. Tasty, but quite salty. Cheese and bacon already have salt, add salty chicken and pasta, it became too salty. Other than that, very good.

I liked their Alfredo pasta with chilli flakes. The food is easy to pack and take home when you are done eating for now.

Pasta was OK nothing really that special. The girl working the counter was not really rude just had that I d rather be anywhere but here attitude. The music was loud and not family friendly lots of F bombs so cover the kids ears. The washrooms are out of order. They also had a great beer and wine special today but all the staff are under 19 so nobody can serve alcohol? Very strange. Lots of great restaurants in this area I d just avoid this one.

A good place to eat fresh pasta for an affordable amount of money. The pasta taste very good when you eat it right away, but I find the quantity a bit small if you are really hungry. The tiramisu is well made. The place is clean.

Went there over the week-end. Place was not busy. We ordered 3 different pasta meals. The Bolognese pasta was under-cooked and could use a few more minutes of cooking. Overall, the sauces had enough complexity (garlic and herbs). However, we did not enjoy the small quantities. The portion size was too small and would definitely not be enough for a supper time meal. With so many choices available in the Byward market, its unlikely well go back to this place.

There s a difference between al dente and raw/chewy. Chilli flakes and cheese were added to the sauce instead of the side. Forgot to take a picture. Pretty disappointing. Zak s Cantina was right next door. Should have gone there instead.

Fantastic Pasta considering its a take out place and feels more like a sandwich shop than a quality italian restaurant. The pasta is really fresh and has great flavor. I previously had this place in Venice and was excited when I stumbled upon one in Ottawa. I highly recommend trying this place.

My daughter had visited several times and we finally came for lunch as a family of 4 based on her recommendation. The pasta was absolutely delicious! I was blown away and will definitely be back!

Ordered for the first time on UberEats. It s definitely freshly made! The spaghetti texture was quite chewy, it almost tasted like handmade Asian noodles. Maybe a bit too chewy for my liking. The packaging is pretty neat, even gives you instructions for reheating & serving. I will probably try their other pastas next time.

Ordered what I thought would be a great meal. Was served dry over cooked chicken, canned uncooked mushrooms, and premade disgusting sauce. When I asked if I could have my money back or anything. I was told no and too bad. For $20+ There are better places to spend your money and leave full and satisfied.

housemade pasta in a box is an experience I recommend everyone have if they are around byward. the entire experience is very minimal, where you order (always pick dine in/for here), and sit on the chairs outside. the meals are fairly priced, and all of the flavors are very filling and flavorful. very nice for a date, or just a hangout with a good friend.

We bought 3 pastas and 2 tiramisus, the pastas were ok, one of the Tiramisus has gone bad, the cream was sour, didn t dare to try the second one. Phoned the location, they told me we have to take it to them in person so they can check it!!!! Very bad quality and even worse costumers service. Very disappointing.

I got to know Dal Moros a few years back on a trip and was one of the best restaurants we went to. It was a fast food kinda of vibe as well, but with a small shop vibe, so very nice and personalized service. Food was amazing! When I saw a franchise unit in Ottawa I was very excited. The food is good (not as good as the original) but service was a little bit of a let down. Will come back, but with lower expectations this time.

I would not recommend this establishment. Unless you are buying fresh pasta noddles to take home to use for a dinner of your own, go elsewhere. Loved this fresh pasta! I got their cacio e pepe pasta and added smoked bacon (highly recommend - the bacon was delicious!) The pasta and sauce was great, a little peppery, and very hot. Filling and nice experience!

A new find for me in the Byward area! Dal Moros was our Go-to for a stay at home Valentines dinner and they did not disappoint! We ordered 2 different pastas, one with our all time favorite Pesto sauce and the other was Mama Rosso sauce. The pasta itself was so different and fresh. Both sauces had great flavor and came nearly packed in takeout containers. These guys pack the pasta and sauce separately which I think is great. Definitely going to order again and dine in once the lockdown ends! Thanks Dal Moro for a superb Valentine dinner !

I really love this place! One of my favorite places to eat pasta with pesto sauce. I am often disappointed by this dish in other Italian restaurants in the city because it is my favorite dish. Here the sauce is delicious and generous. Very comforting. And the service is always pleasant.

Worst pasta ever

First time eating here and Ive worked downtown for the last two years! Absolutely delicious, flavorful and and satisfying....Ill be back.

1st time here and ordered the Amatriciana and a tiramisu. After 30 minutes car ride, and the pasta is still hot and al dente. The sauce didnt look like much but it was so flavourful with chunks of smoky bacon. Good size portion for 1 person. The tiramisu was just okay, I would definitely try other sauces next time and skip dessert.

Highly recommended. It s really good and I love the place, food and service. If you are in Ottawa you want to make sure you stop there to try their delicious food. I went there twice and people who works there were so amazing and nice, and I picked their food recommendations after I asked them and didn t regret their choice. The only tiny problem was I wanted to tip them but the machine doesn t have a tip option and I didn t have cash! So I felt kinda like they deserve a tip for their great service but how can I do it if there is no an option in the machine ?! Only cash tip there . So I hope they change that. Otherwise it s a good place.

The consistency of their food is very on point. You know what the food will taste like if you have had it before. That being said, for the price you get far too little- and depending on the type of pasta you get it doesnt seem like you receive enough sauce. Im not sure if the price is scaled properly according to what you receive. The taste however is fine. Also, if you order it, expect to have tons of plastic waste. If it was even a little bit more pasta and enough sauce to accompany it I would give 5* (why give such a big plastic container only one third filled with pasta?).

We had tried Dal Moros in Venice and we loved it. When we discovered it in our city we had to try it. Its my kids favourite pasta place in Ottawa. The staff is polite and service is efficient as well. You can taste the creaminess in the sauce and the fresh pasta is so good. We tried the pomodoro and pesto sauces.

Great pasta and great staff. This is a restaurant that makes fresh Pasta. Pasta is always perfect and sauces are always on point. I have been here on multiple occasions. The food here is so fresh and perfect portions. One of the few Italian restaurants that I enjoy eating at. They are not over priced, which makes it all the more reason to go.

Its been a while since I was having aglio olio and this one didnt disappoint me. A bit spicy for me but very flavourful

I ordered this on uber eats while staying in Ottawa and the pasta was amazing! I had the chicken Alfredo and it is one of the best Ive had in a while. My only piece of criticism would be the amount of plastic waste. Mixing the sauce with the pasta before delivering would save a lot of plastic and be better for the environment. Overall amazing though!

As a pasta fan myself would say this as A-Class pasta place. And would recommend all the pasta lovers to try this place. I tried usual Chicken Alfredo , but the creamy texture of sauce and freshness of the pasta made it delicious. I will come back to try new sauce the next time I visit .

Top notch!! Have tried pastas at various places , but the freshness of the pasta at this place is at next level. I tried 3 pesto , chicken alfredo and mama rosa , liked everything but loved Mama rosa .

Delicious fresh made pastas and sauces. I actually ordered twice from them this weekend. Their alfredo sauce is out of this world tasty! My only complaint is that their portions are quite small.

Honestly had super high hopes for this place based on reviews . The container is as half full and the chicken was hard a rock . My friend also found a hair in her pasta dish .. they did refund her but she won t be returning .

First time last time ordering from this place we place an order through an app never got the food said it was going to be 45 minutes and then apparently was Delivery Ive never got never received I decided look at the surveillance camera the driver was clueless where to Delivery went up the road down the road then decided placed it in front of the door then came back took a picture and then came back again and then took the order the Delivery guy kept my food is this a joke. also never got a refund on the order it was about $75 of pasta food and didnt get any response from the place give a call to see what was going on with my order instead the answering machine they have is not fixed up to leave a message.service is bad take my money and cant even get ahold of them I will never order from you guys definitely order because this is not good customer service I should be able to receive my food if not refund me I am not happy!!!

Amazing food, staff and location. Even when delivered the quality is not compromised and food is enjoyable at home also.

The noodle texture is so good. Sauce is also delicious. Service was quick.

My boyfriend and I stayed a few days in Ottawa and after seeing this place in a video online, we figured we would try it out. We placed an ubereats order and the delivery was very fast and the food was still warm once it arrived to our hotel. I love that we had the option to choose our own toppings and make customizations so my boyfriend got the chicken Alfredo with added mushrooms, red chilli flakes and garlic powder. Meanwhile I ordered the mamma rosa pasta with the seasoned chicken. My boyfriends pasta was very delicious I wish I had ordered the Alfredo because unfortunately neither of us found the mamma rosa pasta to be tasty. I also think it is overpriced for the amount of food you are getting, but at least there was enough sauce for both dishes. If I were to go back I would stick with the chicken Alfredo but I dont see myself returning.

Rigatoni with mamma Rosa is an all time favourite. From the texture of the noodle to the taste of the sauce! Yuuuuuumm!

This is an amazing concept! I love seeing something like fresh pasta in a food court ! It was so so soo satisfying to eat the pasta. I got the Bolognese pasta. They make the pasta using a machine Right in full view, it pops out the pasta. I enjoyed this so much more than I thought so satisfying to eat takeout pasta lol

Very fresh pastas! We had the pesto pasta with mushrooms and it was an absolute burst of flavor. The tiramisu was made to perfection as well. 10/10 would recommend.

I tried the bolognese and was very disappointed. The noodles had an odd texture and the sauce was so salty I couldnt eat it. A waste of money.

Went here on a Saturday night and enjoyed it so much that I had it again on Sunday for lunch!

Best place for the pasta with affordable prices and good ambience

My go-to order for a quick and inexpensive lunch - the fresh pasta is excellent and their sauces are immaculate (I highly recommend the pesto).

Its a hit or miss place. Sauce lacks flavour sometimes, chicken is dry and flavorless, also comes out way too hot and burnt my tongue once. Other times I came it was better. Wanted to give a 3* but opted for 2 to be more realistic.

Food was amazing! Service and speed not quite s there yet but great product out of toronto. Very fresh pasta and would definitely return for more.
