Festive eatery featuring sushi, Japanese mains & tableside chefs cooking classic teppanyaki.
This Japanese steakhouse used to be one of my favorite spots, but sadly, the quality and quantity of the food have dropped significantly in recent visits. While the flavors are still decent, the portions feel smaller, and the overall experience isn't what it used to be. Additionally, the place could really use some renovations, especially upgrading its ventilation system, as it can get quite smoky inside. With some improvements, it could return to being a top dining destination.
Had high hopes. Having been to many Hibachi style Japanese restaurants before, we had high hopes. Their was no show, which honestly didn't care about, as the food is the real entertainment right! The food was just ok. They are very sauce heavy with their cooking and the pictures others have posted support this. The flavors were just ok. Veggies were bland, chicken was pretty good. Steak was gummy and the different suace on the steak was not good. Our cook was friendly and the server was as well, but as for the food it was a miss.
4.5 stars (if Google allowed me to!) As others have posted, Teppanyaki was delish - nice variety of meat, poultry and seafood to choose from; and the at-table chef / grill experience was wonderful. The ‘extras’ (I ordered mushrooms) were generous and savoury. Very creative sushi options (we chose the spicy variety) and as others have said, hot Saki…although that was a bit on the costly side. Good service and they made us feel valued. Only negative was the wait time to be served initially (25 minutes) despite a reservation and on-time arrival, and dingy restrooms. Overall though was really impressed and would return!
This teppanyaki is very tasty and a really fun way for people to interact with the preparation of their food. The staff are friendly and jovial. The meat and fish are impeccable - only gripe is the quantity per portion of the salmon was.... not great. The shrimp was a generous amount but the salmon portion could have been better. We will be back for sure as the meal was otherwise excellent.
20/10 🔥🔥🔥 Pro tip - you'd better stay hungry the whole day before eating here, otherwise it could be hard to fit it all in one's stomach. But it is definitely worth it, the best steak ever.
Very impressive cooking fire show. The food tastes great too! Especially the shrimp and the chicken. We tried their new sauce tonight, it is very unique. The shelf is very good at his job, we had a lot of fun. Definitely will come back again.
An absolute amazing Japanese Steakhouse! I can say - this was the best steak I've had in a very long time! Really professional chefs that put on a good show too! I recommend trying a steak dish the first time you visit!
Fabulous place, the whole experience was amazing, the chef cooking was very professional and interacted with us and the rest of the guests. The service was very good also, the elderly man was so nice and professional. Will be back for sure
Very yummy!
Parking: Their free parking lot is very small. Food
Food were good so was the total experience.
Best sashimi in Ottawa!!! Super fresh and tasty!!
Really not good no show Small portion We had to tell the cook to add a little full nerve chicken butter and more brown butter.
I went to a place like that a few times, but this one was horrible! I was hoping to see an amazing chef doing a show for my birthday... It was all the opposite sadly.. no show at all! The chef was not even communicating with us at all... And the chicken was not even properly cut (nerves and fat) was part of the meat too :( it was the brown part of the chicken not the chicken breast. the quantity of the chicken was very small for a meal. The soup was not good. The taste of the fried rice was okay it could be way better. Dont pay the extra for that. The portion of vegetables was very small. The steak was good, the taste was ok! Very bad experience... I dont recommend going to this place..!
Phew really disappointed, no show, no taste, portion not generous, The chicken full of nerve. I dont recommend.
It was my sister birthday. We had our reservation at 8 pm. The food was served at 9 pm. There was only 1 waitress and 1 cook. They brought the wrong orders. They cooked different meats together ex (shrimp and steak) without considering people allergies. The food tastes good, however everything else was bad. The server was really nice. I feel really sorry for her working at this restaurant. I blame the poor management. This was the worst hibachi experience I have ever had.
We had a lovely dinner. Food was great and the table side grill was fun.
It might look lonely but the service and the food are both excellent
I m really disappointed with my recent visit. The ginger sauce and salad, which were among the best in the city, have been removed from the menu. I was there only a month ago and enjoyed them, so this change is particularly frustrating. When I asked about the removal, I was told that management decided to take them off without any explanation. This is a major letdown for me, and it s hard to see myself coming back when what made this place special to me is no longer available.
I came here last night with a group for a friends celebration knowing that I would only be able to eat a couple of things on the menu due to my keto diet. No problem or so I thought, so I had a snack beforehand. However, after sitting down and ordering drinks, when the server took our order apparently the sushi chef wasnt there that day, so there was no sashimi, and I stuck with just my green tea. There was also no tofu for my vegetarian friend, so she had miso soup and a small bowl of edamame appetizers. They served the table with an extra chicken broth soup which they did give to me, which was kind. The server was really nice too, and I felt bad for her. She wouldve got 5 stars, but the chef wasnt up to her level. A large part of why you go to teppanyaki is for the show. Our chef did the onion volcano, but there was none of the usual banter, flipping the food, playing with the utensils, etc. Either inexperienced or phoning it in. The icing on the cake for me was when the chef scraped the leftover oil and sauce from the shrimps into the vegetables that were off to the side, which is absolutely verboten if you know anything about cross-contamination. I didnt notice if he did it for the chicken or steak. Ive seen other teppanyaki chefs ask if anyone had an allergy or was vegetarian and cook their food completely on its own first.
The service and flavor were good, but the food was too oily.
Excellent place with delicious food and courteous staff. Couldnt ask for more.
Had a lovely time, our chef was so good with all the children at the table
They are so nice. Very good with children! Food was wonderful.
Very quick and attentive service! It was also my friend s birthday and they made sure this dining experience was special for her.
This place feels very damp. Not good ventilation. Service was slow and inattentive. The chef needs some more training. Food was very salty.
The food was great and the prices were very reasonable. Loved the sake Kid-friendliness: Meals for kids were available Food : 5/5 |
Fun, but we got food poisoning
We were there last night for the first time and really enjoyed the whole experience. The chef was amazing, funny and entertaining.
Food was amazing, our chef was really funny and kept interacting with the kids to make them laugh. The waitress was really busy as she was alone and the place was busy but she was really nice. Great evening would recommend.
Place is run down, not the typical care of a Japanese place..in particular the washrooms! Only adequate service. Teppanyaki made in kitchen was poor quality. It was swimming in oil! Only reason for 2 stars was due to protein portion size being generous.
no
There weren t any suggestions/instructions on when to eat each course so, except for the protein, we ate our food cold. Each course was prepared individually therefore they were cold when we ate. The waitress served our drinks, took our food order, then disappeared. I had to get a second bottle of wine myself at the bar.
Standard Japanese Teppanyaki place. Food was good and reasonably priced. The host was very friendly.
Was there for a friends birthday and the food was amazing as always!
Very good food!
Excellent delicious food and wonderful family experience. Free parking available.
As hibachi places go its pretty solid. Food was good, service was nice. Kids loved the fish in the front. Parking: Small lot across the street, but there was space.
Vegetarian options: Definitely possible. Parking: Parking available. Staff are soooo polite so nice. Restaurant is clean. Love it!!! Definitely will come back Wheelchair accessibility: Place for wheelchair
Excellent food. The price of the plate is a little high and also includes the experience so its worth paying :)
The teriyaki steaks are delicious, and the service is excellent. P.s. The handsome guy who played the fire show has beautiful hands.
incredible experience & delicious food!
Unfortunately our experience was disappointing. I will start by saying the service was quite good. What made it disappointing is the overall experience. Our chef didnt talk to us at all or try to engage with us... I dont know if he was new or what, but is that not part of the experience? While the food was good, it was extremely basic. Some cooked meat and veggies and rice. We paid over $200 for a family of 4 for a meal that we could have very easily made at home. Wont be going back.
Way to expensive for just fried noodles and beef chunks, it really looked like fast food.
Excellent food met some great people . A very fun experience and the food was great
Such a lovely restaurant and the live cooking was fantastic and our chef was funny and interactive. Highly recommend for date/family night, business and there were quite a few kids when we went so it is kid friendly.
Very slow food preparation. Rice bowl served way in advance of dinner and was cold by the time we needed it. Three same orders prepared at different times. One steak order sat cooked for ten minutes while other items were being prepared including more steak. Seafood items were served separately even thou it was part of the dish. Pasta was served last when most of the food was already eaten. Not impressed.
We went in as a group of 4. The clear soup was room temperature at best. One group members order was completely incorrect. Im not sure what other reviewers are talking about but our food was a little worse than mediocre for flavor, let alone the very high price. Ive had similar quality food from a cheap takeout restaurant (if not better). Perhaps the hibachi is good, but the regular menu items were a disappointment. The service was similar to the food... Disappointing. Our waitress was very attentive early on, but she soon disappeared and we were waited on by a different waitress, then (15 minutes after we were done eating and had to ask for our bill) checked out by an older man. Our bill was incorrect (likely because it was a different person from our original waitress ringing up the bill), so we explained what was incorrect and he went back to fix it. He came back, and the bill was again incorrect. The man was frustrated saying Well thats what you said! instead of just apologizing (like any decent server would do.) He fixed it again, and got it correct. When we went to pay the bills, he was very uptight and clearly irritated with us (because of something they got wrong.) TL;DR: 2/5 Food 2/5 Service 2/5 Atmosphere (Kind of dirty and cheap feeling)
Food was mediocre for the price tag. Waitress disappeared and we had to grab someone to get us the check and then the new waiter had an attitude. Quick word of advice my friend, you need a better cook.
We went to Edoko on a very busy weekend night. From the moment we walk in, we are greeted by a warm and welcoming staff. The teppanyaki tables are set up for us. The young chef we had are not only skilled at cooking, but is also entertain and engage with us, making for a memorable and fun experience. As for the food, it is nothing short of exceptional. The menu offers a wide variety of options, chicken and seafood to steak and fillet mignon. The service at the restaurant is outstanding, I can tell they were short-staffed for a busy night, but the service is still attentive and friendly, the staff came to check on our table several times and made sure that our dining experience is perfect from start to finish. The elder waiter/manager is knowledgeable about the menu and always willing to offer recommendations on wine and liquor. My tip is to book in advance and make sure you get a table on the teppanyaki side. The experience is completely different.
This restaurants specialty is grilling on the table in front of its patrons, similar to other Japanese steakhouses, and the show and quality is worth the cost. They do what they can to accommodate dietary restrictions and they know what they are doing on the grill.
Food was average. Nothing more than a home made stir fry. The table service was minimal. Limited to no interaction from our chef. We paid the money for a show and we got no chatter and bland stir fry. Would not recommend at all.
There must be some sort of algorithm/ AI that restaurants are using to populate Google reviews with positives because this place was really bad. Food was tasty but portions were TINY TINY for the price. Show was mediocre and service was atrocious. Even talking to our server seemed to annoy her. $36 for some chicken chunks, 6 shrimp and some cold rice. Avoid.
Excellent food and excellent service.
Place was not clean, floor under our table and the bench were full of food from people sitting at the table before we got there. Steak & chicken were ok but the shrimp and sides were good. Sushi was amazing! The waitress wasnt at her best, however, we had a very nice cook.
We arrived at 6 pm. The chef did not show up at our table until 6:45. I found it very expensive given the food portions. I also found the restaurant dirty looking. Will not be going back
One of my favorite!
Had a great Birthday celebration!! First time there...fantastic experience!
4 stars because I liked food! Will visit again. The food is at a premium price point. Service is exceptionally slow waited 20 min for table even after reservation and waited another 30 min for food. I probably got them on their busiest night! The ambience is very dated and needs updating. It gives you a dingy vibe. I hope youre able to bring the restaurant up to its former glory.
Not a bad place. The food is delicious! And the teppanyaki chefs made some cool tricks to it. The restaurant however, was a bit dark and may need some cleaning. Overall, we had fun!
Pricy. Food is okay
Excellent food if you are looking for a Japanese option! Impeccable service and price according to what you eat! In downtown Ottawa!
Fun place with chef cooking at your table.
Worst food, worst service, and very little quantity for too high price. Never going back again. I have never written reviews, but this experience was so bad I m writing one now.
Hey. 100% recommend this place. Loved the steak and the dumplings. There are only two restaurants in Ottawa have this special way of the cooking. Which the shelf will cook in front of you. You should go if you never try it. Parking: We parked cross the street. It was free for Edoko guest. Kid-friendliness: The way the cook is very interesting. My son loves it so much. It s totally a very special experience for him.
Amazing place Great staff Food
Great restaurant, amazing food fun experience, very friendly staff. Well worth the price.
Very good food and very good service. The staff and the cooks were nice and funny. It was my first time at Edeko but it won t be my last. Thanks!
Delicious, fresh sushi and teppenyaki. Very attentive staff and chefs. The portions are reasonable and made exactly how you want. Thank you for a wonderful meal!
They cook the steaks in front of you for you to see. Its a great experience for family. The shrimp tasted the best.
We love the atmosphere and the food here. They are very friendly and have the best Japanese food in the city.
Beef and calamari dinner is just a normal portion for way too expensive, tastes good. Sushi are not well made, aesthetically or taste. Spend so much money, barely full.
I have been here a couple of times and I dont think its the best. The food is alright and the seating is basement level. The floors are greasy and if you get seated by the stairs, the fan system is irritating to listen to. The chef has no real character. They seem to do the job but really have no passion. Its the chefs job to get the group entertained rather than boredom waiting for it to end. For the money, its not worth it. It would be good to do this once to really feel what I am saying, but a second time ???? The ownership really needs to clean the oil dripping hood vents and maybe apply for kitchen makeover to get this location turned around. Im sure it would be a great place if it was cleaned up and without the dungeon feeling. The sushi was not great, the shrimp spring rolls were nothing spectacular and the food that was grilled was alright. Good luck
Really cool and delicious experience
Exceptional excellent food!!! very nice staff!
Less than 1 .. after explaining an allergy 3 times still served food that could kill someone ..complete disregard for health standards
I am sorry but I have been to one of these dinners in Niagara falls and it was a much better experience. This place in Ottawa unfortunately fell short. The food was overly greasy and the chef gave a show to the other two tables and gave a mediocre show for us. I took my man here for his bday and was expecting a good time. I was sadly disappointed.
The food was barely warm when it arrived. If you told me it came out of a can I would believe you. Salty as well. Go somewhere else.
Awesome
Wonderful staff and amazing food! The best fried rice ever!!!
Very good! Nice people, excellent service! Would definitely go back!
Come form Montreal with a reservation for 12 people but they cancel it. Worst service ever!
Boring cook, no show, food was okay, 2 out of 5 people had stomach issues and diarrhea. Server rolled their eyes when we asked if we could have the fried bananas with the sauce at the side, it was served with sauce on top, they don t care about dietary issues. Cook sprayed hot oil on one person.
Delicious meal, great service! Filet mignon and chicken highly recommended
Great all around.
Really awesome place to kick back and live in the moment with a delicious meal cooked in front of your eyes. Great quality ingredients. A skillful and funny chef. Overall definitely recommend although there isnt a lot of variation in the sauces being used. Still delicious with a very friendly staff! Good times! Oh and for some reasons they were out of sake which did surprise me but hopefully its not a common occurrence.
Wouldnt suggest to anyone. After reading reviews I was skeptical about booking a reso but we did anyway. After arriving for our reso early they stated they had no reso and had no room and essentially were not able to eat lol. Its a joke of an establishment and only operating because they are the only place offering this experience. This review wont help anyone Im sure.
This was an awful experience. We had to wait for over 20 minutes despite having a reservation. Once we were seated, we had to wait another 20 minutes to get our drink orders taken. Those who ordered cocktails had to wait an HOUR, and were made to seem like an inconvenience when they inquired several times as to where they were. I, upon ordering my third beer, had the female server say what!? Are you sure?! Youve already had 2! in front of my party of 7, which was embarrassing. The chef was good, and I have no qualms about him. Finally, when taking bill payment, the server kept checking to see how much each person tipped her. The server made me uncomfortable several times, and as such tainted the whole experience. I wont be coming back.
Terrible experience. Our reservation was at 7, we arrived at 7:10 and had to wait to be seated. We didnt have a server show up until 20 odd minutes. When she did, she took our orders: 3 beers, a sake, 2 cocktails. The beers and sake showed up relatively fast. We waited no less than an hour + before the cocktails arrived. We had our food orders taken after another lengthy break, reminded our waitress twice about our cocktails, the second time we got a rebuttal that it takes some time to make them after which she promptly milled around the bar and served cocktails to other tables. The food had arrived before our cocktails. We sat around for an hour before half our drinks and our food arrived. Then one of our group asked for another beer, her third one, to which the waitress asked: are you sure? Youve already had two. And then she laughed. Very embarassing and absolutely unprofessional. Finally when we got our bills and tipped her appropriately, and yes we did indeed tip her after all that, she checked each one of our bills and didnt thank us because it was low for her I guess. Terrible terrible terrible service, wont be going back again. One caveat: the teppanyaki chef was very entertaining and friendly.
Just save your money and try another restaurant.
Great food, atmosphere and lovely people. We came here for Mothers day and they made our day.
The food was very good, but the portions seemed a bit small. Other than that, it was really awesome!
My favourite restaurant in Ottawa. Costs more then your average family restaurant but the food and experience are far superior. Come over the lunch hour for lower priced portions. Please feel free to curse me out if you try it and dont like it.
Love the food the service and how they cook the meat and fish just perfectly
Amazing restaurant! I absolutely love this place. Unexplainably GREAT service and phenomenal food. A Chef cooks the food right in front of you; such a great experience. The Chefs and Servers are extremely friendly and attentive to anything you need. The flavours in the food are delicious. I will be back. :)
The service is excellent. The servers recommendations were awesome. The cook makes an effort to make the guest laugh and have fun. I recommend the chicken & shrimp. The server also recommended the crazy roll and it was delicious. Will definitely come again!
What a great place to eat! We didnt reserve and thevertheless they made room for us. The chef cooked the meal in an amazing style. Our Kids were amazed. The food was incredible delicious! We will be back some day. Thank you!
Very fine and fresh food. Very interesting preparation.
Very good sashimi
Amazing and wonderful staff
Beautiful place, youd think you were in Japan
Excellent service and menu options! Our chef, Jason, was very friendly and entertaining. The MaîtreD and the waitress were both hospitable, kind and friendly. My fiancé and I went there for our anniversary, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food wasnt high in sodium as some reviews suggest. The steak was a little chewy but other than that, nothing to complain about. Well definitely visit again! The expenditure per person indicated below/above is inclusive of drinks, tax and gratuity.
Despite our reservation, still had to share a table with other ppl. Not worth it. Rlly bad.
The chef was great! Every item we ordered was mouth watering delicious!!!
Went for dinner on Saturday evening and it was amazing! My partner and I were supposed to be seated with another group but they were running late, rather than making us wait for the other group the chef cooked just for the two of us! Every staff member made a point to come and speak with us, service was excellent. Food was delicious and a great experience! Be sure to make a reservation if you want the teppanyaki experience. A great unique restaurant for our trip to Ottawa!
Went to celebrate my daughter & my joint birthday. Recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint!!! Everything was on point. Even loved the Miso soup, which I normally dont like (probably because this one was homemade). Will certainly be back!!!
Great food, great taste, decent prices and kind devoted employees. The restaurant is a basement area making you feel like it is a secret place that only a select few would know about. I recommend this restaurant hands down.
I have been to several teppanyaki/hibachi restaurants before and had amazing food and great experiences. This place was terrible. The chef/cook did not put on a show, over cooked my calamari (which I mentioned to him and he waited till almost the end of the meal before he offered to cook more for me, which at that point I declined), left my chicken so long on the grill it was crunchy, over cooked my boyfriends filet minion, and did not reduce the price of my meal to compensate. Very disappointed. Only good thing I can say about this restaurant is we made the reservation the same day and they fit us in.
A great time and at the same time a bit of a let down. Walking into the place youre immediately engaged by the smell of old fried food. Not overpowering but still very present. The place looks good but keep from looking in the cracks and corners as it is dirty...very dirty. The side of the cooking surface had old grease andfood in the cracks as well as pools at the bottom of the cooking table itself. That being said the cook top, table tops and bathrooms were very clean. The staff is super friendly and nice! The young man who was our cook was doing a good job though he was a little short on tricks and banter one would expect from an interactive cooking experience. Our server was super friendly and was amazing with our kids. The manager(?) was this older guy who was pleasant enough but literally came and stood at our table (as well as others) and watched us eat with crossed arms. Kind of creepy if you ask me. The food wasgood but they use a LOT of butter and the meal had an overall heaviness and greasiness to it even though it was very tasty, The chicken and shrimp are great! The salmon is small portions for the price but very tasty. The beef is a nope as its very very chewy and not tender at all and super greasy. Do not get the beef! Cocktails and sake was very nice and presented well. The price tag is a bit heavy but you pay for the show so....not out of order. Overall some really nice points but some serious misses as well. Its a place to go once to experience (especially with kids) but not likely to go back.
Upon arrival at exactly the time of our reservation, we were left in the lobby for 20 minutes with no staff member coming and giving us an update on when our table would be ready. Finally we were sat down and although we had 8 in our party, two other random people were sat at our table. In the midst of a global pandemic, that wasn t appreciated. Finally the chef arrives but he repeatedly mis-timed the cooking. He started out cooking the filet mignon for a couple of people in our party and then let it sit and get cold while he cooked the NY Steaks for other members of our party. After that he let the NY Steaks get cold (and the Filet get colder) while he finished cooking the shrimps for all of us. Oh and the vegetables, which went on the grill first, we re sitting on the grill the entire time. At this point, he still wanted us to wait until he cooked the noodles before he wanted to give us any of our food. However we insisted on getting at least the meat but had to point out that we hadn t any sauces. So we ate the meat cold. Oh and let s not forget how he magically ended up with an extra plate with some meat, shrimp and vegetables. A plate that belonged to no one at our table. So not only did he mess up the cooking, he also messed up on the splitting of the food. I have had Teppanyaki at multiple restaurants in multiple cities and this is by far the worst experience I ve had. This was supposed to be the celebration for my best friend achieving a major life s ambition but it was an unmitigated disaster.
Wonderful dining experience with lovely staff, nice seating, easy parking, and delicious food! We especially enjoyed the beef dishes which were cooked perfectly (and entertainingly!). Special house roll and tempura were also delicious. Good food and a fun place for a special occasion or just a family or office get together. Highly recommend! Kid-friendliness: Our teen loved the food and enjoyed watching Chef Jonathon.
Great experience!
A little expensive but excellent
Staff was super nice to us. From the cook to the waitress they were all great. The show is really nice. If you like just to sit and eat this might not be the place for you. The cook had all our order perfectly done. My first time at a place like this I would recommend for sure.
It is always a pleasure here. Our chef wasnt the best but it didnt take away from the experience. Social distancing measures were respected
Staff were super friendly, food was delicious. We will come again!
There is nothing more typical Japanese than this! The food is amazing, the inside of the restaurant is beautiful and the service is super friendly. We ate tons while chatting with our chef (yes, you have your very own that cooks right at your table:) they also put on quite a fire show) about his country and culture. We had a great time with great people! Im definitely coming back after Covid. Such a warm and welcoming place <3 !
awesome experience, great food although not something I would call incredible but it was really really good especially for Ottawa. Overall the experience was the best part
Pre pandemic we used to love this place. This time we went, the quality of the ingredients were great but the guy cooking it just drenched everything in this heavily salted teriyaki sauce made out of tons of margerine, soy and stock. Literally everything other than the bowl of rice was swimming in the same sauce. I think even with just salt the filet mignon and seafood wouldve just tasted better. My husband found the table sticky and also the washroom sticky. I think charging 40+$ per meal the cooking should be better and the amount of food should be more. It was def a disappointment. Would not recommend or return for the tepanyaki.
I took my girlfriend for a romantic dinner here. The food, staff and atmosphere are top notch. This is hands down the best Japanese food experience that I have had in some time! It is a must visit if you are in Ottawa.
The hibachi shrimp was wonderful, the fried rice was awesome and the company was great. Top notch!
Salty, not delicious food. Waited more than 30 minutes to get 3 rolls. Not recommended.
Great food but slow service and sticky tables.
slow service. small portions and limited show/entertainment during cooking
Tried this place for the first time and whole experience was just horrible. We placed a takeout order for 8 people. Portions were so small and they overcharge for everything. Lady at the front was so rude, asked for hot sauce on the side and she started fighting, then she didn t want to give us an extra bag. Our order was over $300 and their service was just so bad. Food tasted like it was cooked in soya sauce only, had no flavor to it. I wish I could give this place zero star.
Worst customer service ever. Lady at the front doesn t know what does customer service means. Wish there was less than one star. Not recommended, overpriced.
A birthday supper. Following Covid protocols closely. Asked for proof of vaccination and ID. Quick to serve, friendly, great show at the hot table, delicious food and I will be back. The hallway downstairs and womens washroom need some TLC. Loved the Japanese ice tea and the food was so good I left an empty plate. Adding a note: parking after 5 on the street or a lot right across the street (clearly noted with a sign)
Was a great experience! Will definitely be back.
miss this place
Fantastic place, I came here for my birthday with 9 others and we had such an amazing time, the staff were so nice and talented, the food was delicious and there was a wonderful birthday surprise for me at the end!
Very good food and service
The food was amazing, kind courteous staff and funny! Awesome colorful drinks.
Super excellent, dinner was amazing!! Also our chef Peter was also excellent. Excellent service from the ladies too
Nice place good food at good price
I had a lot of fun. Chef was funny and food was good.
Frequent every year Im in Ottawa. The Teriyaki Steak is absolutely amazing. Always have great sports conversations with the Host.
Love the atmosphere, love the service, love the food, love the show and love the restaurant.
Great food, reasonably priced as well as you get to watch it being prepared
Soup is too salty. Teppanyaki use same sauce on every dish regardless they are beef, seafood or vegetables. Scallop has no taste. Only beef is acceptable. Salt, pepper and white wine should be good enough for the seafood. Not the unknown sauce.
Good Japanese dishes and traditional food in a cozy atmosphere
Dont know about dinner, but really cant recommend it for lunch. My dish was a kind of a soggy, salty mush served with overcooked rice. I get the sense this mightve once been a pretty excellent restaurant, but at least based on my one trip, I suspect its era is long behind it.
Amazing food and very generous portions! The owners are super friendly and it s just a great experience overall!
Amazing!!
Great atmosphere and service!
Was a great experience.
Food and service was great. Ambience could Improve.
The food was typical of the Japanese steak houses - its almost like they all have the same recipes and sauces. My teriyaki chicken was a little fatty but cooked perfectly as was my shrimp appetizer. Veggies were left too long on the flattop - I should have mentioned I liked them al dente. The sake was slightly bitter - Im partial to a sweeter version. And although we didnt get the utensils and fire show (other than the flaming onion), the tableside chef (Mexican working in a Japanese resto?) cooking our food was super engaging and cute to boot! If it hadnt been for him and my 11 friends, I would have been disappointed. A large serving of sake and a teriyaki chicken entree, with tip, set me back $77.
Clean, friendly and delicious
Only pro: Phone etiquette and making reservation was easy enough I will never return here. Terrible customer service and terrible food. 1. There were 2 french girls in front of us and they ignored them (didnt greet them or us) to seat me and my family of 4 first (we had reservation at the dinner table, not teppanyaki). 2. Sake tastes diluted and weird after taste 3. We had 2 servers. One older more experienced server and a younger server The younger server delivered a tempera appetizer by mistake to our table and said it was free. My family and I ate it. Then the older server came over and said these exact words The tempera was delivered to you by accident..... so would you mind paying for it? This unprofessional to ask your custo.er to pay for something they did not order when someone else said it was free. 4.Filet mignion is cut up into chunks. So the rare steak that my family ordered was basically cooked. 5. For a $48 dish, you wouldnt expect your filet mignon to be cut up into chunks on an overcrowded plate mixed with noodles and the veggies. There was no Presentation of the dish. It looked like a home cooked meal. 6. Food is bland or over salted. I got the sashimi dinner and it didnt taste fresh but slimy. 7. Did not say thank you as we left.
Too slow, I waited for an hour
Amazing sushi, made to order. The teriyaki meals are very high quality, you get so much food. The service is pretty good. The atmosphere is very welcoming, and I am always excited to go here!
A lovely experience from an amazing chef! Food was super tasty and atmosphere was just right!
Amazing
Fantastic service and amazing food. Our chef was super personable and kind.
Such slow service. Basically looks like stew. Why bother asking how we want meat cooked, if your going to cook everyone the same anyway. The bathrooms are disgusting as well.
Fun place for a group to go to
Getting to watch the performance of a cook doing a flambe in front of you was fantastic and so well performed too. Meals they made were delicious and exceptional.
Reserved for 7.30 pm, seatin at 8.30 pm, start eating at 9.30 pm. I was hoping the food will be great, then The chef said Im from China, a student and doing this part-time job. I said Well done. Are you studying culinary? he said No. Well, that ruined our appetite and felt the food was not good enough. I asked my sister whether she wanted another extra lobsters as usual, she said No No No. Well it means its not good. My family didnt enjoy the food.
Great food at decent price!
I strongly suspect MSG in the food. Would not recommend unless people in your party are drunk and /or have never tried hibachi. In which case, there are episodes of The Simpsons and How I Met Your Mother to fill you in on the protocol.
Very enjoyable experience! The food was good and watching it being cooked infront of us made it a 2 in 1; like a dinner and show
