Traditional Korean dishes, BBQ & sushi, plus an all-you-can-eat menu, in simple, relaxed surrounds.
I’ve been coming here frequently as a comfort food place. Service is very quick. I appreciate that they only take your order and bring your food. Highly recommend to anyone in the area. My only real complaint is the menu needs some updating.
This was such a treat! Mother-daughter date night here! Servers were really helpful and pleasant. Food was great though much of that was because of the spicy sauce which I put on everything! They didn't bring enough to the table. Ate so much, didn't have room for dessert. Definitely recommend going there.
We’ve been to this restaurant in the past, back when they had sushi on the menu. We loved everything about it back then. We visited recently, and unfortunately won’t be coming back again. We came for the kbbq (on the left side of the restaurant). There weren’t too many people sitting around and I don’t remember if music was playing, but it was peaceful where we were seated, and could easily have a conversation. We picked “Option B” on the menu. We didn’t know that they didn’t have any Yam or Onion left when we picked the option until later (the server didn’t tell us). The servers kept conveniently forgetting to bring the meat and sides that we ordered. On our first round we said, “everything except the chicken”, and they didn’t bring out the shrimp or squid until we had to remind them on the second round. We had to ask a server to change our grill which is something that they were supposed to do once or twice during the meal, but we got some attitude from the server (a huge sigh and a wave of his hand to cut us off before leaving) and had to wait another while before our grill was changed. I believe they were starting to get upset when we ordered our third round of fried tofu (four pieces each order). A lot of time was wasted on waiting, that was for sure. We had empty plates and empty grills for some time, waiting for meat, a grill change, or sides.. For a restaurant that wasn’t too busy, the servers hardly ever came around, and when they did, they were rushing to leave. There were a few times during our meal where we were asking them for meat, and they’d leave to get it before we even finished our order - in the middle of speaking. The marinades on the food were really mediocre. They used to be really flavourful, but now it’s almost too plain. The short ribs were really tough and we had to fight to rip them off the bone. The only good thing we had was the marinated spicy pork.
I absolutely love this place! We’ve been dining at Mu Goong Hwa for 11 years, always ordering the same thing. Even though we moved away, we recently decided to visit some of our old haunts, and Mu Goong Hwa did not disappoint! The yaki mandu and tteokbokki were the perfect starters, accompanied by the usual complimentary sides (miso soup, kimchi, etc.). My partner and I always get two orders of bulgogi with extra rice for me (of course), and my best friend sticks with the bibimbap. It was such a great experience coming back —now I’m craving it all over again!
We ordered a few times before, the galbi is overcooked. I can’t even swallow the meat. Today I ordered the spicy chicken, same problem. Too tough to chew!! These chicken are hard as stone. I don’t get why these are so expensive. I spend $40 to get these …. So disappointing! Never purchase again! The seafood tofu soup is normal, but too many onions, like half of the soup is onion. The seafood in it is low quality, taste bad.
Service started off friendly offering us hot tea as alternative when we asked for hot water, but it never came. When we first tried following up with another staff, he answered no hot water but will "check with the staff regarding the hot tea". He never got back to us & when we asked 2nd time he angrily answered "NO don't have" without any explanation. After almost done eating, that's when the initial staff told us they didn't have it. Don't offer something you don't have then get angry at the customer when you didn't even explain nicely. On a positive note, the fried tofu tasted great. Serving size for meat is big so start with 1 order at the start. Also, there was no dipping sauce for the meat (only the spicy red paste)
Excellent food on the a la carte side. The quality is higher than the all you can eat food. Really enjoy the spicy kimchi soup. The all you can eat is also good but there are better places. Overall mine an my wife’s go to Korean place in Ottawa. We tried many but this place is excellent.
Ordered the kalbi special set and bulgogi special set. The portion was ok, especially with the soup. The reason for the 2 star is because the meat was sooooo dry. Everything was almost cardboard-esque. The bulgogi was pretty thick and very dry. The kalbi has good smoky flavour but was super dry. The soup was pretty good but very spicy so if you can't handle spicy food, I don't recommend it.
worst service ever, after I was seated, the staff at the front desk completely forgot about me. I waited at least ten minutes, and no one brought me a menu. When I initially raised this issue with the manager, not only did they give me an attitude, but they also did not apologize. It was only after I specifically requested an apology that they finally apologized. When serving the dishes, they were very rough in their movements. This restaurant shows extremely poor standards in service quality.
Food was very good, meat was very well seasoned and waiter was very nice to us. The waiter even got us sauce without us asking because he heard us saying that we like it. One of the best K bbq I tried so far.
The boss is the best. Its delicious and reminds me of home...
Been going here for years, my favorite Korean place in ottawa, love their bibimbap, kalbi ribs and chicken Kang poong gi
Four of us came here for dinner, specifically for bibinbap, as we were told it was very good here. It didnt disappoint. Two had the vegetable, and two had bulgogi beef. We all enjoyed it. The bibinbap came hot and sizzling like it should. The staff working there were very attentive
Has the boss changed? I visited after seeing good reviews, but I felt like my trip was ruined. Red pepper powder in the water container. The water smelled like kimchi so much that they replaced it with other water, but the water still smelled like kimchi and I couldnt drink it at all. There were a lot of people in the group, and there were a lot of cups with red pepper powder on them. I dont know about the stir-fried food, but I couldnt eat the soup at all and left it as is. The fishy smell of the galbitang was so bad that I couldnt eat it. The soft tofu type tasted like just red pepper powder added to water. hygiene. The overall taste was disappointing.
They provide generous portions with their stone rice bowls and service was friendly and attentive.
worst restaurant,If is possible, I want to give them minus ten stars .dont recommend
Good food, great service, nice place downtown
Nice spot, great food and friendly staff. Parking is a little tricky.
Kimchi stew is really delicious.
I cant tell whats worse... the terrible manager or the food. Absolute disgrace to Korean culture.
Not bad, but service is slow
The food got worse after the renovation, the price has gone up a fair bit, and the service is abysmal. I used to recommend this place and frequent it fairly often, but its just not worth it anymore.
Great soup-based food and quality meats but a little lacking on some appetizers like Tteokbokki. Would highly recommend the mains!!!
I love this place. All you can eat Korean barbeque and sushi, for a reasonable price. staff is really nice. They upgraded their venting system somewhat recently, which made the place even better (the smell no longer permeates your clothing much). I recommend the all-you-can-eat over the regular menu, I find it more worth it and consistent.
Be prepared, EVERYTHING is super slow. 15 mins with only one seated while 7 tables are empty, have to run into the server about 5 times and ask for food, change of grill and sauce. We understand the lack of servers, but customers should not be responsible for this AT ALL. We will NOT come back for sure.
Bad experience today. The waiter told us to wait for 20min. There are three emptied tables, he just busy on other stuff dont clean a table for us.
Wanted to try some Korean food while staying in Ottawa. Theres a huge selection of Korean food in the area and chose here. Wound up coming here the 2 nights we were here as the food was SO good.
Food was awesome service was on the slow side idk if it was bc it was busy or understaffed or both but the servers were friendly and polite
the waiter said you have to wait and we wait for 20mins, there s no one come to serve. Don t come! You should close the restaurant if you don t serve. Please close it!
If google accepts negative stars, I will give negative infinity stars. Bad service, rude service. I would say if you have 6 hours for your dinner you can go. If all the restaurants in Canada close, you can go. We waited for 30 minutes for order but there was no person served. I have nothing to say for the food because we even tasted it!!! That s the shame of the Ottawa, the shame of the Canada. The shame of the Korean food!!!! Pls don t go!!
Teach your stupid Indian waiter how to speak. Did eating too much curry block the blood vessels in JBs brain? The boss should feed him a lot of swill, so that even those who have been forced to eat will become more confident.
To the owner of the restaurant. You need to fire the guy server who works on Sundays if you dont want to see a significant downfall of the restaurant, trust me. I was a regular customer so I did my best to be patient and polite because I understand delays can happen when its busy. But the server was releasing his stress to customers. Extremely rude. His behaviour was beyond unacceptable.
The barbecue is okay, but he is trying to kill people. The sauce is charred on the grill pan and he doesnt even change it. He expects the customer to get cancer. The Indian guy running up front seems like someone owes him a hundred thousand and wiped out his family. When will the next time be the boss? Sew his mouth shut and eat again
Been a regular for a long time. And I am posting this after my last 3 experiences were horrible. I was expecting this disaster service would be temporary. I dont know what the owner is thinking but im pretty sure this restaurant has the worst service in Ottawa right now. Especially with the guy server. I was always polite with you but you were extremely rude to me and other customers. I understand its busy but its not a reason to treat customers like you do.
We arrived at 6:40pm and we were told the barbecue section will be closed at 7:10pm. Which doesn t make sense and doesn t match with the opening time it shows
Great food but the service was lacking
I rarely review food in Ottawa. but i am a foodie so i have standards when i want to review. This restaurant is very underrated! First of all the service was unexpectedly great! The fact that it s only this one guy. And it s quite busy. He is very polite and helpful. I genuinely appreciate this guy.. the foods are also delightful! Kimchi is extraordinary. I highly recommend this place overall. But please be patient cause they only had one server. Hopefully the owner can provide more staff. It ll be even better!!
Nice place , show up early if you want a seat
Best soup in town. Barbecue not so much but ok.
Very nice food, waiters, and atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable
Dolsot bibimbap is crazy... super delicious
Nice cozy place to enjoy all you can eat korean BBQ! I will be coming back for sure
I am really disappointed with your blonde waiter and your Indian waiter. I wanted to order, but the waiter ignored me every time. When I waved to the blonde waiter and said excuse me, she waved to me and said hi, and then refused to come. As a customer, I have nothing to do with your waiter in the restaurant. Say hello? Another Indian waiter talked to him and he said it was none of my business. Although it was a buffet, I ordered the dishes once, but they were not all served to me. I finally called the waiter and asked me to add more dishes, but after I ordered, I was not served. The baking pan was easily burnt, and they were only replaced once, and the waiter couldnt be called. The range hood is just a decoration. If you eat barbecue, there will be heavy fumes in the restaurant. The gas tank is simply hung above the heads of the seats, which is very scary. I dont know how this restaurant can continue to operate with such bad service. I hope the owner can improve after reading this review. The quality of the barbecue is normal, beef ribs are recommended.
Good food, large portions, be prepared to eat a lot if youre doing the AYCE and you want to try everything
You only have one time to change the gill and no no waiter The baking pan is dark and tells you that you only have one chance to change the pan. What you want will be served to you in half an hour. The waiter pretended to be deaf and was the first place!
There are obviously not many people, but the waiter is too busy to find anyone at any time. She can even leave no one at the front. She walks to the table next to her and asks him to order, but he cant hear. He is either blind or deaf. The baking pan can only be changed once. At the end of the meal, it tastes all mushy. I don t care. It tastes really bad. If you want to eat a mouthful of mushy food, then it s your own problem. Then everything on the menu is omitted from the pork bone soup, and there is no fried noodles. [Smile] Why don t you open this restaurant? What is the meaning of tm The lettuce given by lettuce. The waiters are all blind and deaf. I called TM five times but couldn t hear it once. Go to the front desk and call. Everyone is in the kitchen. No one is left in front. Is it necessary to open it? [Smile] What a fool.
Worst experience ever, their employees are 100% racist. Food is okay, but service is real bad, totally unacceptable. Run! Dont come! run! Indians can piss you off
Very delicious. Who gave it 3.9 stars?
Worst experience ever. The waiter and owner were really rude and impolite. Yelled to customers. Food is so bad, very dirty tablewares.
AVOID THIS PLACE and go somewhere else to have your meal. Worst restaurant experience in the world. Done with terrible customer service and bad food quality. Don t waste your money!
Good restaurant
Disappointed that the BBQ was closed when we arrived, 2 hours before closing time. Maybe put that on your Google listing. Food was decent with good-sized portions. Decor is dated and in need of a good cleaning or update. Handwashing in the bathroom was brief due to freezing cold water and no hand towels. Wheelchair accessibility: NOT wheelchair accessible
Service and food were good for the price. Ordered the MD1
Great place
I really enjoyed the food! The side dishes were unlimited and tasted amazing, the kimchi was delicious. I got a spicy pork, which was covered in a banger marinade and my friend got the tofu kimchi soup and loved it. Staff were also really nice
Says it closes at 9pm, arrived at 8 and they said they are closed. There were plenty of tables empty too. Seems like the staff just wanted to leave at 9 on the dot. Never coming again. Food at Alirang across the street is also a lot better.
Fantastic traditional Korean cuisine. Their meal combo are extremely filling, and comes with a lot of side dishes, as well as whole tub of soup! About $20, enough to warm you through an entire night, or just send you straight into food coma. Albeit their kimbap is on the unreasonable pricier end. Have yet to have the pleasure to visit them in person.
The best place in Ottawa for Korean food!! Always delicious, I love it!!!
Sweet and sour pork more like sweet and sour dough! YUCK! The tang soo yook is just fried dough. Every piece is only 10% pork or no pork at all. I would not come back here. I only came here because there was a long line at Alirang. Big mistake.
I went here twice and none of each time it was OPEN, mystery timing at this restaurant
delicious restaurant
Rude south asian server, should find a better location for korean cuisine. South Asian waiter ignored Korean man
This was an impulse decision to eat here and the food was good! Unfortunately, we came in the afternoon when the BBQ tables were not open which is what drew us, but in the end, soup I ordered was great
Food is good if you can catch them open, will close early often before posted times
Very disappointed, first time being there and been told we are too busy, and not taking customer the hole night . Store is supposed to closed at 21:00 at night and we were there around 18:30. Plenty empty tables in store as well. Personally will never step in again! Poor customer service.
I am new to this restaurant these days, and I have to say that they have made a lot of changes in their dishes. It is still the Indian, and his service is very good. At least it is good when it is not busy. I compromised. The problem of people not being able to eat bbq, I brought a friend here , they seem to have hired a new waitress, the service is very fast, they said they will come in time to change the baking tray, even the Indians came over without us noticing I asked if I want to change the baking pan. The kimchi is really delicious and authentic. It s not like the salty kimchi sold in supermarkets. It s very sour and crispy, and the meat is marinated perfectly! I have to say that the meat here is really fresh and addictive Large chunks of thick beef short ribs are grilled until they are sizzling with oil and served with lettuce and pickles. Unexpectedly, they have not closed down after three years of epidemic. I hope the boss will stick with it, Ottawa needs such affordable barbecue food My suggestion is to come early to avoid the peak period to increase the service experience. They listened to my suggestion about sushi and directly canceled sushi from the menu. I cried to death. And when they are busiest, they can see that the waiters are busy all the time. The boss should hire more waiters. Original review from three years ago: The service was very poor. There were only a few waiters serving guests and they were preparing dishes in the kitchen. I waited at the entrance for a long time and no one came to serve me. And they dont allow less than two people to eat bbq. If you go by yourself, you can only order food and be squeezed into a small seat. The waiter was rude, the sushi was tasteless, and an Indian was preparing the dishes at the BBQ restaurant.
It was very delicious. This is the best Korean food in Ottawa.
Excellent food.
The kimchi stew simmered in bone broth was generous and very delicious. The three side dishes that were cooked right away, seasoned bean sprouts, seasoned mustard greens, and kimchi were delicious.
Kimchi stew is delicious. Theres a lot of meat, its spicy, and its good to eat. Im going. Korean food in Canada Capturing the hearts of Korean people
Great all you can eat KBBQ, very nice staff
Yukgaejang is ordinary, but the stir-fried pork is really, really delicious. Even considering all Korean restaurants, it s delicious. The side dishes are delicious so it seems like a good restaurant And they are very friendly. I highly recommend this Korean restaurant in Ottawa.
My first review was not showing for unknown reason. But I will say it here again: The worst Korean restaurant in Ottawa! Its a total mess!!! My friends and I were standing at the door for 30+ mins and no waiter even said hello to us! You can not believe that, but half of the seats were vacant. The waiters just purposely ignored the customers and they were just so un-organized to even prepare a table. There were like 20 people waiting (including us) and all of us ended up leaving because no body wanted to greet you. What was even worse was the owners attitude! When he was asked about when can we get a table. The owner responded: THE DOOR IS OVER THERE, and YOU CAN LEAVE IF YOU WANT . It was the most unprofessional, rude and arrogant response a restaurant can give to its customers. All the 20 people left after hearing this response from the owner. Don t come here. Dont come here.
Korean restaurant in Ottawa....exciting
Actually I really like the food here, large quantity and very reasonable price, especially their appetizers, really decent vegetables. Although the service is not that good, but bearable.
We went to the all you can eat bbq at 19:30, but we were not informed of the last call at 20:00, then the manager said that there will be no change of grill after the last call, and that there was a lot of meat left to be grilled because we had just come to eat. The manager forced us to use a completely burnt grill to cook the meat EXTREMELY RUDE!!!
The BBQ was not authentic at all and had an Indian waiter who was very rude. The only all you can eat restaurant where you cant get enough of food in Ottawa. The waiter kept making excuses not to serve you even though there are hardly any customers in the entire restaurant
Mu Goong Hwa Garden is a prime example of the mediocre Korean food scene in Ottawa. Food quality here can be quite inconsistent day by day and depending on what you order it can be a hit or miss. The soup items can be very greasy and tend to leave an msg like aftertaste. Despite a good number of Korean restaurants in Ottawa, sadly there are only a few select places that offer authentic Korean cuisine experience, and Mu Goong Hwa Garden, unfortunately, is not one of them.
It s delicious~ The food is okay!
This is not real Korean food. It just looks like it.
This place was definitely one of the better Korean restaurants in Ottawa before the renovations. The dishes are very hit or miss now though. We came for naengmyeon and jajangmyeon but the entire noodles section of the menu was unavailable. Instead we settled for the dishes pictured. The kimchi pancakes and the seafood stew were both delicious. We did not enjoy the tteokbokki or the bulgogi though. The tteokbokki sauce was watered down and the bulgogi was dry and tough. We were greeted with the server shaking his head and signaling X with his arms which was very unexpected and rude. He then clarified that if we chose to order food, it would be an hour wait. It was a Monday evening and only half of the restaurant was as full, so we were quite confused. The food took half an hour to come out but the service was a bit inattentive They forgot to bring us out our kimbap until the very end, after asking us if we were ready for the bill.
Its friendly and tastes good.
Beef ribs was super delicious, loved the food.
The all you can eat BBQ is super yummy. The staff are always friendly and very happy to see you.
We went for a là carte instead of the AYCE option and we found the food a lot more tasty and filling. The seafood pancake was amazing. Will come back
Excellent service and korean food for a good price!
It s rubbish. It s not worth much. There s no pork in kimchi pork. It s rubbish. Don t go there.
I think this is the best Korean food restaurant in Canada. The kimchi dumpling casserole, bulgogi, rice, and side dishes we ate were all delicious enough to be popular even in mainland Korea.
Great authentic Korean and Japanese food. I add extra meat to my orders and the portions are generous.
The portions have been reduced by so much, their bibimbap has become a joke. Shameful.
Ive had the privilege of going to several Korean restaurants all over Canada. This one sticks out like an infected sore thumb. Price - atrocious. Food - worse than fast food standards. Everythings burnt, dry, or just has no flavour. I heard this was the place to go but seeing some of the negative reviews, I gotta agree, its definitely not somewhere Id recommend as I care about my reputation. Also, the weird brown manager guy seems to have some unresolved small man issues. Not only was i shocked to find out hes the manager, this review will become NSFW if I had to describe his unprofessionalism.
Im not surprised... looking at the most recent reviews, 90% of the 5 star ratings have 0 words. This is either because those people have 0 standards or most likely, they are paid reviews to boost its average. No one with at least a middle school education with a functioning tongue would give this place a 5 star review. Stay away
I dug it! It flies under the radar but dang it was good, the chicken was especially excellent! Servers were super attentive. I was stuffed. You had to get me out on a forklift. Would come back for sure
Im posting this review from inside the restaurant. The food is delicious. Im stuffed, no regrets whatsoever. This is amazing!!!
It s delicious. I ve bought it many times. Love their side dishes
While travelling, we got a kind of homesick so had to get some korean food. We had a sundubu jjigae (seafood tofu soup) and it was wonderful! One of the best that I ve had in my entire life! The only, bit of disappointment was the soup didn t have any shrimp, though it was the seafood soup. But overall I had a very satisfying meal!
wouldnt service people without Ontario vaccine proof, my friend from British Columbia was refused to be here despite he has been vaccinated and holds a valid BC vaccine proof.
all you can eat menu is delicious!
15 minutes after we sat down, waiter still hasnt taken our order or even gave us any water
great food and great service definitely recommend if you are in the area
Great food, fantastic value, and friendly service. Cant wait to go back. This will become a regular spot for us.
The AYCE KBBQ is not worth the money they charge. The short ribs is good and well marinaded, everything else is not that great.
The food is delicious! You should try bulgogi and grill ribs. It s good 1 combo has rice, meat and soft tofu soup. The portion is very large, so if you can t eat too much, you should order 1 combo for 2 and some side dishes like kimbap,
The food is pretty amazing, we ordered more than we could eat but I dont regret it. I would go back and bring my friends with me. Ive been to few Korean BBQ places between Toronto and Montreal and this is by far the best. The server was really nice and very attentive versus some other places Ive been too. Please keep in mind that Korean BBQ means that you cook your own meet as is traditional in Korea. Great for hanging out with friends and having drinks.
Its delicious, the portions couldnt be more generous and the staff is helpful and smiling! There are Korean bbqs, but also a host of dishes from the regular menu to try I tried the jajangmyeon this time, very happy with my choice!
Slow service.
Will be not coming back, bad customer service! The only service was so rude, there was only a few table, not very busy. The guy was missing my order, and I told him that he answered mewhat! It made me feel so bad. He was missing my order and drink. And give me bad service, I told him I need to see your manager, He said he is the manager. Then he left. I was like excuse me??? I didnt did some wrong. Why he was so rude!
Very bad service. The waiter forgot our drinks. Tell him to throw it directly on the table in the future. Not to mention other food. Never seen a service like this. wont visit again
Nice little restaurant. Divided into regular dining and BBQ section. Lots of good authentic Korean dishes. Reasonable prices.
One of the best korean restaurants in Ottawa! Very tasty and affordable. Definitely the cheapest korean restaurant and the food is good quality :)
Good meat. Terrible service
The worst experience ive ever had. I visited mu goong hwa garden with my family to have a dinner. First of all, the server told me that there was one person at the kitchen, and everything would be slow. I was definetly fine with that. However, the server gave us the utensils on the top of the dirty menu. Maybe he was busy, but okay. We ordered galbi and tofu soup set menu, and after waiting a long time, we received the foods. The waiting time was not a problem for us. While eating, my mother found the galbi too hard to chew. When we took a look, it was undercook. My mother found it disturbing.Once we saw it, we couldnt continue eating because there may be more undercook galbi. So, we called the server and asked to cook the rest of them. Then, as we were eating, my brother found something weird in the tofu soup. It was crab stick with the plastic cover in it. Im sure they boiled it for a long time with the soup. We called the server, he took it right away with a short apology. Good thing i took a photo of it beforehand. The server asked if i did not want to pay for the soup. Well, shouldnt have the chef come and apologize first? He or she didnt show us the face and just the server asked me if i wanted to pay or not. What is this? Cant the chef take the responsibility? Later, the server told me we dont have to pay. And still no sign of the chef coming out and apologize in person. Ok, you guys are busy, and i understand. But we can understand if foods come out late. It happens. But why are you guys are causing problems and not trying to come out and be responsible? The server had to ask me if I wanted to call the chef to receive the apologies. Thats not the problem. He or she should have come out voluntarily and apologized in person. This is really unacceptable and ive decided to upload this review so that other customers would not experience the same. I am uploading the photos to prove that I am not making things up.
All the food was either somewhat bland, or tasted like nothing at all. Maybe I caught them at a bad time, but I would be hard pressed to recommend this place.
Food is ok I would say but lacks in Korean decor and etiquettes. When you go to a korean restaurant you would expect that they will greet you with tea and obviously with kimchi first. Besides, I lived in Korea for 4 years and many of the dishes do not have authentic korean flavor. May be adjusted with the tatse of the Canadians. However.. better service is expected from the staffs too. Someone atleast having the basic idea of korean food culture is necessary. May be I am expecting too much or since I lived long time in Korea, my expectations are different but I am not happy with the overall environment. Not at all korean. Again, food quality, quantity and variations are ok I would say. Just dont order the tofu soup. Horrible thing. I highly doubt whether the cook was korean. Lack of staff is terrible and rude sometimes. Trust me wouldnt go there at all if I had an alternative.
Slow service. Food is not worth the price
A gem at a great price. Everything on menu is yummy. Good man on counter is super courteous and handles any number of customers with ease.
A little unfriendly and the food tasted average.
Love it!
Food was not too salty and well balanced. Felt like home cooked Korean food. Price was reasonable and generous portion for downtown location. Much enjoyed!
Good prices. Find what you need on your own. Customer service is nonexistant.
Second time going here. The food is good and the portions are generous. We have not tried the BBQ half of the restaurant yet but plan to do so. Service is slow because only one staff is in the front, but it is hard to find help these days.
Very good restaurant, the food is really good quality. Plus, you spend little for a well-filled dish. Thank you, I loved it
Love this Korean bbq
Would definitely go again. Great food.
Its the best Korean food Ive had in Canada. Be sure to stop by and eat it
If I could I will give 0 star, never coming back, bad customer service! The guy was so rude, there was only a few table, not very busy. We have all you can eat and only allow to Order one time only. Btw they never clear their water bottle
The food is so-so The rice cakes were overcooked and the entree was oily and too salty The service is also not good. There are always dirty dishes on the tables around you. It really kills the atmosphere staring at other peoples half-eaten food. We stayed for an hour, and all those dishes were there the entire time.
Great place for korean food. Affordable and delicious.
Delicious bibimbaps and side dishes!
Delicious experience
worst korean bbq experience ever there is no waiter/waitress in the dining area. we came for AYCE.. lots of the stuff they donthave ..no service and you almost need to go to there back kitchen to find someone and they are just too busy to talk to you!!! DONT Go!!!!!! they should close of they are not ready to serve customers
I had the Yuk Gae Jang ( ) it was very delicious and I finished all of the food it was very delicious and very generous with the portions. I was just missing one thing it was the gosari ( ) in the Yuk gae jang. Without it it felt a bit less authentic, but overall I enjoyed the meal a lot! The banchan was good too and there was plenty of it.
The service was very, very bad, especially an Indian guy who pretended not to see the customers and waved at them. His service attitude was also very bad. He looked at the customers as if they were enemies. He even threw the baking sheet directly in front of us, splattering all over us. Although it was a buffet, they were very impatient with our request for additional dishes. When we entered the store, we had to ask the waiter several times for the dishes we ordered before they were served. Even so, in the end, there were still no dishes. It was a very bad experience. .
Its probably one of the top 3 Korean restaurants Ive been to in Canada.
Food was great but they need more staff. The two servers were overwhelmed.
Hated it. Super slow service and sadly, the waiter did not get our order right. Not many options for food and definitely none for dessert. Wont be coming back.
Formerly a favourite Korean BBQ spot, now not so much. The restaurant is chronically understaffed (sometimes only one server for the entire restaurant) so service is slow, and ordering new rounds of food is impossible. The AYCE has now removed all the fish sushi options so now the sushi is just overly filling rice. Basic things like lettuce have run out mid service. Its hard to have hope that they will improve once more
They don t provide any hot drinks which surprised me a lot. The server even asked that if the hot water from tape works. I came here with friends quite often before 2020 which at that time we indeed loved this place. This was the second time we revisited it this year, but we decided to leave once we heard about the hot drinks plus the food reduction from the BBQ buffet menu: no salmon related food; no Edamame price of buffet keeps the same. The other food like GamjaTang also got removed compared to the menu two years ago. I personally don t think the BBQ buffet price worth what are on the menu they have now. I don t know what happened, but it definitely won t on my list anymore.
Edit Sept 21 2022: It pains me to say but the quality of the food seems to have taken a decline across the past couple of years. I only order takeout and have always gotten the yook gae Jang and it has gone from being a really tasty and filling beef soup to me having to pick out all of the pieces of meat that are really just fat and bones. I also dont know if they stopped making it spicy or if they hear my voice over the phone and assume I dont want it to be spicy but the last few times (months ago now) that Ive order MD 7 (yook gae Jang) theyve given me a version with 0 spice. Edit Sept 15, 2021: Just changing it from 4 to 5 stars because the packing issue has only ever happened once and they have some damn good authentic Korean food with generous portions. Original review: Really good food but Im not sure who does the packaging for takeout or how they thought stacking soup inside other soup (and breaking the lid) was a good idea (see picture).
The fact that this place gives you kimchi for takeout is already making it better than most of the Korean restaurants Ive eaten at, but the fact that the food is actually great is why its not just my go to place for Korean food, but my go to place for lunch in general.
Cute place, food is very authentic, one of the best places Ive been to in Ottawa
DO NOT GO HERE. This restaurant has gone downhill fast. From the moment we arrived they only had one server working the entire floor. It took upwards of 45 minutes just for our food to arrive and they sent out the appetizers after we had already finished the main dishes. They were sold out of a number of main course and premium dishes and yet still charged us for the premium AYCE option. This restaurant is a SCAM.
It saddens me to write this review (previous was 5 ) bc my friends and I have been going here for years. We like to support the mom and pop businesses but my experience yesterday will be my last. They only had one staff in front who had to do cash, serve, and coordinate ubereats deliveries. The guy was so preoccupied, he could barely even take our AYCE orders which btw we had only one serving bc they said they ran out of some items even though we paid for Option B - the premium one. They also eliminated salmon sushi so what you get is fake crab and cucumber...yummy! All the tables present had to send one representative up front to order or remind bc he would just run away from you once dropping off things. Clearly the man was overwhelmed and the owner was not treating their employee correctly. For a moment, I thought we were eating in North Korea. If your business cant handle the volume perhaps concentrate on either dine-in or take-out. When it was time to pay, I told the guy that we should not be charged for option B...he agreed but had to check with the owner who said NO bc meat is expensive. Well, duh!!! That was why we were willing to pay extra but didnt end up getting it due to their lack of staffing. Pretty sure food was rushed bc quality was not like it used to be. For $33 before tax...I recommend going elsewhere. RUN!!! Support small and local businesses but not ones that treat their employee_ like an endentured worker.
We came as a group and it tasted better than most Korean restaurants.
Got there early at 5:30. Gyubee was an hours long wait ... better prices and much quicker service here!!! Hard to beat the fast service :) staff was friendly and helpful. Parking: Paid street parking Kid-friendliness: Its kid friendly but most people are university crowd
Delicious. First time and won t be the last.
This place is hit or miss. Last time I went there with some friends, we bailed out an hour later after still having no food on our table. They informed us about 30 mins after being seated that they had no sushi that night instead of telling us when we came in. Food is good when you can get service.
After trying a really bad Korean restaurant in Toronto, I went to another Korean restaurant on the 10th day of my trip. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant. I ordered a set of kimchi stew, soft tofu stew, and stir-fried squid. There are people lining up here too...there are only 2 part-time workers...it takes 10 minutes just to take the order, but they are friendly. If you really miss Korean food so much, I think you can eat it. I don t think there are any really good Korean restaurants in Canada. The side dishes include bean sprouts and two side dishes.
The food was good, but waiting 30 minutes to get a plate of meat and another half an hour to get one more is not ideal for a buffet. I do not recommend this place
Whats the point of opening at 5 and calling urself a kbbq place if you dont offer korean barbecue
Great food, very kind staffs and good price.
Possibly the worst Korean restaurant you can get. We ve been ordering few times from this restaurant since the Beef Spicy Tofu soup was a favourite of my wife. Apart from that, the rest was always around mediocrity. Today, however, big change. The soup as usual, the rest went quite directly in the garbage bin. The bulgogi meat was a stir fried meet with some bulgogi sauce on top, the tempura was a doughy deep fried bun, not to mention the chicken teriyaki collected everything which you wouldn t normally eat when eating a chicken such as tendons and cartilage. Last order ever. I sincerely hope you get the success you deserve in the hospitality business.
Service isnt their specialty in the sense of checking up on the table or anything but if you walk up to the front theyve always been polite, the dine in food is good with reasonable prices, the bbq section is really good for the price if you eat a enough. Ive been here a couple times, dont plan to go back much but from time to time it wouldnt be bad.
Food is okay but SERVICE is terrible! Waiting for everything all the time!waiting for tableware after meat served ! Waiting for changing the oven tray until its color turning to dark black! Waiting for garlic and pepper then being told they don t serve that! Waiting for paying the bill but No one stand at the front cashier! Never ever come again!
Decent place
If you want to spend your money wisely and efficiently,AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!!! If I could I will give 0 star I will have done.never coming back, terrible customer service! The guy(waiter) was so rude, there was only a few table, not very busy about the customer service, but maybe their kitchen is running out of stock or the restaurant only want to do cheating the customer s service(only on time earning/per business). Because there are lots of human capitals in Ottawa, please let the person who decides to go to this restaurant see (my advice is choosing a better one) .The entire of us wait for the dishes for like a thousand of years. And the Indian server (maybe who s the owner of this restaurant) always tell us that the green pepper and garlic that they do not serve it at all (but the green pepper and garlic is essential for Korean bbq). The waiting time for the waiter to check if the customer need to change the bbq plate or what others do the customer need is too long (more than 25 minutes). Although we have given the 15% tips. seriously, not worth for the food and service at all. For the food, the waiter told us that they are running out of it (like sushi and lots of stuff). And no any other apology for the customer S waiting time. Why don t you hire more employees? Give the tips to your kitchen employees
Disappointed that the all you can eat is only for 2 people minimun
Literally the worst service Ive ever seen. Really rude.
It was filthy. The table was oily and the water container was super dirty. Do not go there.
Great food with good quality and good amount of portions, very good price but bad customer service. The waiter seems not care about customers at all. Hope could be improved then will go back again or order take-out. Short rib is really good. Seafood Pancake I guess chef use topioca powder instead of flour. It tastes soft and a bit soggy. I like the flour-made crunchy taste.(Just personally) other than that, the seafood pancake will be perfect.
Used to be my go-to place for Korean food but last 2 or 3 years (even before the pandemic) have noticed a substantial decline. My favourite dish, the seafood bibimpab, doesnt taste as good as before and they have also skimped on the ingredients on my latest visit. The food was always enough to offset the inconsistent service and, in the past, the greasy and oily tables from the table top BBQs. But now theres no reason for me to return.
Great food, homemade mandu & kimchi. Amazing AYCE!
Fabulous great venue staff was busy no rush to eat
A favorite of ours, great food and great experience
Very poor service attitude, no one answered the call
Be warned, there no more kimchi pancakes on the ayce menu anymore :( PLEASE HIRE MORE PEOPLE! I had to wait 30 minutes to be serves after being seated.
Service was awesome and food was great. Edit: Its covid and staff takes the time to seriously wipe down a table. Not that it changes whether I want to eat here if they didnt wipe the tables, but it shows that they care abt the business.
The food is very authentic and delicious. I have dined in and ordered through food delivery apps. Never disappoints!
Very tasty Korean BBQ and sushi
Have been going here regularly for the past 5 years. Korean staples of jiggae and main entrées are always of excellent quality and big portions. Family faves are the beef soon dubu jiggae, the mandu (dumpling) jiggae, the dolsot bibimbap, tteokbokki, LA Kalbi, and the pork tangsuyuk. Their banchan is also excellent, though simple ( its always kimchi, bean sprouts and a veg - usually broccoli) are fresh and delicious. Kimchi is house made and it is probably the tastiest kimchi Ive had anywhere!
Delicious, plentiful, great prices as well as attentive and responsive service. You cant ask for more than that.
Maybe the owner of this restaurant is too thrifty, ao ingridients were too humble, the dishes were worn, plastic water jar was rugged. I wll not go to this restaurant again.
Awesome place for Korean BBQ. I have been 3 times, twice Ive brought friends and they have all loved it! The pork is delicious and I highly recommend ordering it!
Have been regularly going here for a few months and the food is always delicious. Both take out and dine in (All you can eat or a la carte) are great. Has quickly become a favourite restaurant of mine in Ottawa. Highly recommend the beef bibimbap, kimbap, spicy soft tofu seafood soup, beef bulgogi, chicken katsu, and the Korean BBQ.
The food is always amazing and the staff is super friendly. The food never takes long which is nice and its not overly expensive. 10/10 would recommend.
Tasty food and great value! The server who is always there (might be the manager) is so friendly and approachable. Our go to date night spot!
Have gone here a couple of times for the bbq and have really enjoyed my time! A bit of a learning curve to figure out what to order, how to cook it etc, but after going a couple of times you will figure it out. Fun dinner spot to go with friends!
