55 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa, ON K1M 1L9, Canada
Traditional Mexican kitchen in the heart of Beechwood Village, inspired by Aztec corn goddess. Its friendly staff and amazing homemade food will take you back to Mexico.
I found this place on Yelp. I had a lot of difficulty finding its location. Probably because I went in the evening. I was greeted as soon as I went in and they help me order what I wanted and I had it take out.
Wonderful seasoning and taste! Presentation was fantastic and the service top-notch! We very much enjoyed our meal! Super tasty and quick!
Food was delicious and authentic. Service was attentive & friendly. Actual location and set up is generic and not very inspiring but you go for the food!
As a Mexican I can definitely say this is one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in Ottawa, love their enchiladas and chilaquiles. Nice portions, good service..definitely would recommend
I'm disappointed... The evening and mood were ruined. We came to try Mexican cuisine and ordered two dishes, one of which was a taco. When the taco was served, the tortilla was soggy and falling apart, even though we ordered a hard shell. The second dish had the same meat as the taco, just wrapped in a tortilla. There were no spices or aromas typical of Mexican cuisine. The meat was simply boiled, without any spices or vegetables. The waitress didn't even put salt and pepper on the table. It was awful. It seems like the restaurant owner and chef are not interested in serving tasty food that would make customers want to return. I strongly do not recommend this place.
I have no idea how this restaurant has a 4.6-star rating. My experience at Chilaquiles was incredibly disappointing. The food had zero flavor and everything was cold. They couldn’t even get the nachos right—how can you mess up nachos? The service was just as bad. The entire kitchen staff, waitress, and all other staff went on a dinner break while we were eating. We tried to get their attention for service, but they ignored us and continued having their food. The restaurant should have set times for each worker to go on their breaks. They shouldn’t all be taking a break at the same time. Every single thing we ordered was tasteless and lacked any flavor. I can’t begin to understand how this restaurant is considered authentic Mexican cuisine. I was honestly so upset that I had to spend my money on food that I didn’t enjoy or eat at all. I do not recommend this place to anyone.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Went there for lunch Friday with a friend. I had a feast of a burrito with diced chicken, smothered in red and green salsa, crema, and cheese. Came with a bit of salad on the side with a bit of tortilla chips. The tortilla chips looked and tasted to be made in house. Very tasty, very satisfying dish. Also shared an order of guac with more tortilla chips. Very good and also looked and tasted homemade. Just the right balance of acidity and seasoning. Washed everything down with mandarin Jarritos. Our server was very friendly. 10/10 will repeat. Can't wait to go again.
We randomly stopped here for supper during a bike ride-Delicious, our new favourite spot for tacos. The chips and guacamole were generous and tasty. The tacos were great, in particular the pork. Pork was excellent. My partner had a burrito with the pork, loved it. Remember to ask for a few hot sauce options. We’ll be back.
Been here a few times now and really enjoy the tacos. They taste a lot more authentic than other restaurants but price is a little steep. Other than that really enjoyed the food and will definitely go back!
I have been here twice and the food was very delicious both times.
As a Mexican I really enjoyed the barbacoa consomé and the chilaquiles, they were really good and a good portion, agua de horchata was good as well. The menu is not huge but I am really happy with both the consomé and chilaquiles.
You can t go wrong with the chopped chicken quesadillas and pico de gallo with chip combo
Tried a variety of Tacos. All flavourful. Friendly service and cheerful decor.
They need to improve the atmosphere of the restaurant. The rest, the food and the staff, were good.
Food was amazing and the cook was very handsome
Kind of comical that I spent $50 after tax and tip on a total of 6 pretty small quesadillas for two people. The cheese was tasty, the meat was pretty good, but the serving looked hilariously small on a huge plate for $25 a person. Quesadillas were also greasy from the cheese, which isn t BAD per se, but some people probably wouldn t like it. Interior was kinda run down. The food came out pretty fast at least. Usually not the type to rag on small businesses but I just didn t get value here at all, and I felt a pretty immediate sense of confusion when I saw what a net $25 was buying me. $20 at any shawarma place will get you a huge platter with veggies that will feed you for two meals. Something just didn t add up.
Absolutely delicious!!!
I had never heard of this place before that night I had no idea what I was getting into. But I cannot say I wasnt happily surprised the service was great the food was even better and everything was greatly priced. Definitely going again soon
Loved their chicken quesadillas ! I ll come back to try more.
Got the enchiladas they were very good. Bathroom needs a renovation but otherwise was a great time. Food : 5/5
The best tortilla soup! A delight.
Food was delicious and the staff was awesome and friendly
Good place
What a Gem!!! We loved everything! We ordered the tacos, nachos, black beans and rice. It was all Great! And the Poor server was working alone and was so busy and yet none of us had to wait long for anything! She was great! Id HIGHLY recommend this place!
They might have been having an off night, but we didn t have a great experience. Signature chilaquiles dish and burrito was good (if pretty modest in portions), but tacos were not great strange rule around ordering chorizo con papas that you have to get all three rather being able to mix and match disappointing, and no accompaniments, had to ask for a bit of hot sauce to help with flavor and they had no guacamole available still a lot of work to do in terms of finishing decor, lots of unfinished paint edges, bathroom still a worksite all in all I don t think I would be back Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible
Here is a real Mexico City food. For the people of Mexico. The food is fresh. The tortillas are made by hand. It is recommended.
A typical little Mexican restaurant. Delicious enchiladas. Fast service.
Great!
Fantastic. Ordered chicken enchiladas to go and they were amazing. They were thoughtful enough to pack the sauce separately so it didnt get mushy which was perfect. The rice was just ok, but the beans were delicious. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options
Great food great staff great ambiance Parking: Great parking behind the restaurant! Recommended dishes Beef Burrito, Nachos Parking space
Pretty decent food for the price!
Very consistent!
The real deal.
Very good and very varied menu for people who eat gluten-free! Dietary restrictions: Its easy to eat gluten-free food.
This is my new and only Mexican restaurant! I had the Burrito and my friend had tacos. Everything was delicious. Now I need to find excuses so that I end up here for lunch . . . or dinner!!
I honestly have no idea how this restaurant has 4.6 stars. They don t deserve anything more than a 2. The waiter was patient and did a good job explaining the menu to us but the food was literally comparable to hotdog water. It lacked flavour and was cold and dry. The even messed up the nachos like how can you mess up nachos? While we were eating all the staff was taking a dinner break in the corner of the restaurant and we had a very hard time getting their attention. Honestly a 0/10 experience. Do not dine here if you are looking for authentic Mexican food. This restaurant is a fraud. Taco Bell has a better take on Mexican than here.
I previously had rated this location all 5 stars but after our visit yesterday, it is now truly a 1 star. A few pointers as to why: 1. Atmosphere: The restaurant has a music on its own, the kitchen as well so youre simultaneous listening to noise given two different tracks are playing at the same time. On top of that, theres serious mold growing at the entrance of this location and on the stairs to come in, wish I couldve taken a picture. 2. Service: The server was on her phone 90% of the time, and when she wasnt, she was chatting, laughing loudly w the kitchen and w her being the only server, really couldnt care less about the service. She forgot to bring a few items that we had requested and had repeatedly asked for. And we had to come to stand to go pay as she wouldnt come out of that kitchen. When I got nearby, I noticed she was just on her phone + eating. 3. Food: The beef and chicken soup were ok, but the tacos? Terrible. Seems like the cilantro and onions were chopped in a hurry because there was pieces as big as my finger on it. The meat was over seasoned and simply not good. The only one that was actually good, is the carnitas. This place doesnt even offer el pastor. Surprised this location has been able to keep their 4.6 rating, it is clearly being mismanaged as it used to be better... Truly unfortunate.
Vegetarian options: Several options for vegetarians. Dietary restrictions: Several gluten-free options well indicated on the menu
We have ordered from here with Uber eats many times and love the food. We decided to go and try it in person. That was a mistake. The food was disappointing even though we ordered the same things we get delivered. Gave it 3 stars to balance between delivery and dine in. The decor (decorations, corelle plates, etc.) wasn t great but the chairs were nice and comfortable. The service was attentive but they missed the appetizer and brought it after the mains when we pointed it out. They don t sell alcohol at the moment per a hand printed note they attach to their menu. Unfortunately we won t be returning but maybe we ll try delivery again.
Food is delicious! A real neighbourhood gem. Food
The food is always excellent. A great neighborhood restaurant!
My favorite restaurant in all of Ottawa. Authentic Mexican cuisine, and attentive servers.
Went there today with my wife the food was amazing. The place is under a little bit of renovation, but they ll get itt fixed up if you want the real deal Mexican food. This is the place to go. We were really really amazed at how good it was Last time I had good Mexican food like that I was in Puerto Vallarta
Dont waste your time people. Tasteless food. No flavor whatsoever. No seasoning. 20 dollars per entre and not even the quantity of food was worth it. Soggy rolled tacos. Got soggy from the walk from the restaurant to the metro parking lot to eat. Stick to faleenas.
Great food , good service, location is pretty rough inside, maybe they are doing renovations?
the barbacoa burrito is delicious !!!
Definitely recommend the anchiladas, probably the best i had in the city!
Have been back twice in the last month! Excellent food and service.
The enchiladas were not cooked in the mole. Which did not help the dry flavorless chicken. The Taco Dorados were disappointing and overpriced. If you order two fillings, you get two of each. Cheese would help the dry middling barbacoa. Beans and rice was the best part. Go to Sí Señor
It was good..
I m modifying my 5 star review because of the reduction in quality, portion size and taste. I am pretty sure my enchiladas were just already made rotisserie chicken. I didn t mind the slow and bad service because the food was actually good, but now I definitely will not be returning. Look at the amount of recent reviews saying the same, you are losing customers because you re cutting corners and it is affecting the quality of your food.
Delicious! Authentic. Enchiladas de mole wow!
Wow
The food is absolutely fantastic! Flavorful and colorful. It is a safe bet in terms of Mexican food.
Ok Im very disappointed. Used to order from here. Was good value for money the . Not now. We hadnt ordered from here since before they moved over buildings. The new building is BLAH. The food is good but notice they are now part of shrikflation epidemic that has hit restaurants . The enchiladas used to be packed with meat and longer in the plate. $51 for two orders of enchiladas!!!!! . Sorry. More and more we are deciding not to eat out or take out for these reasons. Wont be back because of this.
It s a very simple looking place, but you feel comfortable and at home so it s great all around! Food was absolutely amazing as usual! Traditional dishes!
EDIT 2024/March **ordered a few times since my initial review and I m super sad at how things seem to be going downhill. Prices are up and the portions are tiny! Like the burritos are half the size they used to be for like $4 more. The burritos at places like Chipotle and Mucho Burrito are double the size and half the price. I really hope this place reevaluates whatever change they ve made in the last couple months and gets things back on track. I m totally fine paying $65 for two burritos and some chips .but when the burritos start looking more like the size of McDonalds snack wraps I can t justify the price anymore. *****ORIGINAL REVIEW 2023****** Always a great experience and delicious food !!! The staff are all friendly and the food is made fresh to order and authentic. We drive from the other end of Ottawa just to come have food here every so often.
Its a safe choice. The food is okay and the service is fairly quick. The downside is that the food gets cold fast which means they might be using a microwave to heat up their ready made meals so it lacks freshness
I used to order from this place however the price has gone up and the quality of the meal has gone down. It actually did not taste good . One of the items the tacos the shells were completely soaked it could not be picked up and hold it I had to used a fork to eat it. For the amount of money they charged us it is not worth it.
Good atmosphere and good service but the barbecue leaves a lot to be desired
Delicious burritos ! Good value.
Good and tasty beef
I only wish the food se4ved was hotter. Every time w3 have been there the food was good but lukewarm.
Absolutely delicious food, a little disappointed that everything came out at the same time so food got cold while we were eating our soup.
Best Mexican restaurant in Ottawa. Very plain decor, but the food is fantastic.
We loved the food when we first visited in 2021. The taste seems to be different this time but still good food.
Looking for authentic Mexican food? Look no further. Glad I found this place in this got forsaken town of Ottawa.
Fantastic food !
Amazing food and great service
DELICIOUS food. Tacos and Enchiladas plate were A-MA ZING! And verde sauce too. Very tasty. Good portions. Thank you!
It is rare that I have to modify a review but the restaurant has been rather disappointing since they moved locations. The last time I ate here in person the service was forgetful and slow. Every other time I had gotten take-out (3 times!) the food has been mushy and rather tasteless. Im not sure if they changed owners or chef but I really miss the old Chilaquiles...
Food was delicious! The place was clean and quiet and the waitress was very polite. Cant ask for much more! Definitely check this place out if youre getting mexican food.
Delicious meal at this authentic Mexican restaurant. We had a great time. Enjoyed our meal. We ordered the sopa de tortilla, tacos Dorados and enchiladas en salsa verde. If you like Mexican food, this is definitely a place to try out.
Just weighing in and I was surprised with the tortilla soup and the meat soup, wow, what a flavor, God, this is Mexico, just come and enjoy the taste of real Mexican food. Super fast service and very attentive staff, thank you so much, what a culinary experience wonderful
We loved this place in their previous locale and now that theyve moved, it is a bigger, nicer space. The food is as good as it was before. This is comfort food, like my grandmother would have made if she was Mexican. The plates are melamine, which suits this restaurant. The cutlery is basic flatware. We are never disappointed when we go there. Good food, good prices, good times.
Had a nice dinner. Chips and guac, enchiladas, tacos etc. Tasty and fresh. Nice mole sauce. Could have used more chips, and found the portions a little small, but overall it was good. Will be back.
Great Mexican food. Never disappointed
A nice place to have a taste of Mexican food. Really enjoyed the place and the staff.
Food was good. Mole sauce was a little sweeter than Im used to but would have again. Very clean. Still working on washroom but clean. Needs art on walls.
Serious delicious food!
Authentic Mexican food! The hosts were very accommodating and there was no problem changing the size of the plates to fit our group size. The tacos are a must try and the pork quesadilas are delicious!
Easily the best Mexican restaurant in Ottawa. Food has great flavour and spice, everything was very tasty. I recommend the Enchiladas Verde. Mole was alright, not great.
Love this place! Consistently delicious and great service. :)
I am not impressed with the venue but the food seemed OK. Cleaning fluid (Lysol) on the bar where drinks are poured is definitely a health and safety issue. I like mexican food but there needs to be improvements before I order again. Dietary restrictions: Please indicate gluten free choices on the menu. Corn is fine, wheat is a no-no.
We ordered take out from here, the food was tasty, but for the price, the portions were disappointingly small.
I genuinely dont know how this restaurant ranks so high. Chicken has NO SEASONING and is incredibly dry and the peas and carrots are definitely from a frozen bag. The rice was truly bland and very small portions. We ordered enchiladas for delivery. 1 shredded chicken and 1 peas and carrots. We received 2 shredded chicken. Please stand by for photos when I can figure out how to put them on the review. Vegetarian options: Frozen vegetables
Delish!!
Went there for the first time last week and I will return. At first glance, it looks like they might not be open as they seem to be in the last stages of finishing construction. But the tables, chairs and banquettes were comfortable and the host/server was welcoming and knowledgeable. (also, points for a large and clean bathroom) I had the Chilaquiles, a dish Id never tried before. It was a very tasty messy dish, with puffed up tortilla pieces as the base and then covered with salad, a bean stew, sauces and cheese. I was suprised at how filling it was. The flavours were fresh and piquant - although not too hot, as Id asked for milder sauces. I tried a type of iced-tea made with tamarind and it was an interesting - in a good way - blend of sweet and tart. My companion had tacos with beef and also found them flavourful and fresh. Finally, we shared a piece of 3 leches cake which was rich and moist. We both agreed that this was a good place to enjoy a casual meal at a reasonable price and that wed go back. Vegetarian options: Lots of tasty vegetarian options, as you would expect with Mexican cuisine. Kid-friendliness: Family came in with children and they all seemed happy and relaxed, as its not a fancy dining experience.
This place might do the best enchiladas and chilaquiles in Ottawa. Everything is fresh except the margaritas if you dine in, definitely steer clear of the syrupy $17 party mix margaritas.
Feels like youre in Mexico, in Ottawa! Food and drinks are fantastic with a decent selection to choose from on the menu.
My husband and I had the tacos, enchiladas, and chilaquiles and it was amazing!! Soooo good and very authentic and the chips with pico del gallo was chefs kiss! Would definitely go back again!
The service was so very lovely. Their soups are so delicious for a cold winter day. The chilaquiles are nice, I guess its the closest we can get to the real thing in Ottawa.
A good place for Mexican food, the customer service is very good, food tastes was average. I might try something else. I didn t like ENCHILADAS that much. It costs $20, so the price I felt a bit higher side, generally the price was around $14. But for the good customer service I am giving 4 stars.
Tasty food but smaller portions.
Great little spot in a great location. I was looking forward to coming here for a while, and they certainly didn t disappoint. Great and very fast service. The mix of people that came to eat while we were tells me that this good experience was not unusual. As a vegetarian, you can eat basically anything on the menu. We ll be back
Sorry to say but it was the worst food I have ever had! So very salty. The atmosphere was awful. The service was bad. I do not recommend going here at all!!!!
1st time visiting. Small unassuming place but provides great food. Server was patient and polite. Would return.
so delicious especially the chicken soup and the enchiladas. Also the tres leches cake is delicious. Very authentic.
Beef Burrito was low quality & content . Definitely declining. No more Mexican decorations .Place is dark, dingy , filthy & not cared for. No service. No sauces. Customers left at the door & rudely ignored. Stay away. Bibis is better.
I used to love Chilaquiles and was a regular customer at their smaller location. After the move about 4 months ago, the food quality has drastically declined, my enchiladas were served cold!, and the place seems understaffed. There is also limited decor in the new place. Sorry to say I am unlikely to return.
This place is absolutely great
Over priced Overhyped food with small portions and lousy service
Soups and tacos were good. The new space needs some livening up, it feels institutional. A good, local restaurant.
Customer service is careful and exquisite.
Pretty solid Mexican
If you have allergies or food sensitivities, it is imperative that youre clear about them. I asked for no cilantro. My food was brought to me with cilantro, and when I asked for no cilantro again, scraped off and returned to me. The portions are small, but the food seems to be good value for the money you pay. The salsa verde is excellent; a good option for no-spice folks because its still zesty. The menu font is extremely difficult to read, and the language is too vague. This led to someone from our party getting something completely different than they expected. Overall, not too bad and our party left full and satisfied.
Very good
We were disappointed with our take out order. I arrived early and The food arrived short after I arrived and 5 minutes later we were home. The Tacos, beef, were soggy on the bottom. The last tortilla fell apart when I served it. The beef was quite salty and sparse topping on top. The enchiladas with shredded chicken was quite dry. The last dish quesadilla was okay. Considering the rave reviews we were not impressed for $70.00 meal.
Decor needs a little tweaking, but I love the food and the generous portions
The food is good but they have an odd policy, if the food comes out wrong you need to pay for another meal. In our case we said there was an allergy, the food can out with that particular item and we were told it s policy that they won t make a new dish, you need to pay for another dish.
Excellent burrito! Will definitely be a go to for Mexican food for me. Only thing holding back from a 5 start review is the additional side of rice I ordered was surprisingly small for the price. Everything was delicious though!
I visited Chilaquiles, Beechwood last night. Food is amazing but there is a server (Oliver) that was very rude with my family and me literally throwing our food plates on the table. What a pity that this place with such good food is overshadowed by the disastrous attitude of an employee who is having a bad day making us not want to return.
I had the burrito - so tasty! If you want real Mexican, try this place. Yummy!
Really good tasting food in what seems like an authentic environment with food ambiance.
The food is AMAZING!!! The staff are friendly, prices are fair. This was my first visit since they were located on Montreal Road. Im very happy to see that the food is still top notch. Their margaritas are delicious as well. Definitely recommend. Food
Such a lovely experience. The serving staff were friendly and helpful. The food was flavourful and well put together. The price was reasonable. We had chips to start with enchiladas and quesadillas as main courses.
The food is okay but the service is terrible. How can they always have ONE person serving?! Sat for 25 minutes before she even acknowledged us. This was the second and last time.
Excellent food, very good service, the atmosphere a little quiet for my taste... Everything is excellent, congratulations!!
Fantastic food, maybe my favourite mexican place in the city. Its authentic, well portioned, flavourful food. I could honestly close my eyes and pick a random menu item and know im going to enjoy it.
Food was quite good. Portion size could be bigger and steep charge for sides - $70 dinner for a couple and a baby and we got home to three hungry bellies. We all had to eat again.. Dietary restrictions: Our son has a dairy allergy, so we normally order rice and beans at Mexican restaurants. The rice here is made with butter. There was no alternative rice, so we ordered guacamole. It never came.
Ordered the nachos with chicken got home no chicken had to go back and get what I payed for then when eating realized no cheese and if there was very little will not go back again and my advice is if you get takeout Chec k it before you leave might save you a trip back
Food was not bad, though portions could definitely be bigger. They mixed me up a nice chelada. Service was very good, very pleasant young lady. The restaurant did get almost too loud to talk; some acoustical tiles would likely help.
BEST Mexican food in Ottawa, hands down ! My dad and I dined in last night. My veggie tacos were so tasty! Service was also amazing. Really glad there s a bigger inside space to eat now, however, it was quite loud in there because there was a lot of people and kids so it was hard to hear server, etc. Highly recommend this place ! Will always come back. Vegetarian options: Great veggie options.
The food is so amazing!
Wonderful service, fabulous food with fresh ingredients and friendly, fast service. So lucky we have Chilaquiles in the neighbourhood.
Great place for authentic Mexican food, we loved it. Though the place seems to be half way through renovations, so not the fanciest out there
Okay okay.
The food is tasty, the service is great but zero atmosphere. Consider painting the walls red, add color by incorporating wall art, sombreros and other Mexican flair. Visit La Bonita restaurant or the Mexican restaurant on rue Principal in Aylmer for inspiration. Create an atmosphere means creating an experience and ensuring returning guests. A small investment for a great return!
This establishment may look like a little hole in the wall but dont be fooled by its exterior for it is phenomenal. The cocktails are exceptional and the food is even better. Definitely worth a visit.
Had the tacos dorados. A bit on the pricey side for what you get but staff is friendly! The more Mexican in Ottawa the better.
The portion l
Great authentic Mexican food. We ordered burrito, taco, enchilada and sopa. Everything was flavourful and portion size was decent. They just moved into this place so the ambiance is not that great but plenty of seating and ample parking in the back.
I ordered a veggie quesadilla for takeout and received three plain tacos with cheese and veggies. They were super disappointing. If I had ordered a taco I would ve at least gotten some form of protein with it. These were plain, greasy, and almost inedible. The sour cream also tasted a bit off. Days later, I still have an unsettled stomach. My partner was happy with his burrito. The only thing I was able to eat entirely was the Mexican rice which I enjoyed.
Excellent service and very delicious food 100% recommended
The food is wonderfully delicious, it is a pat to the heart if you are Mexican.
Absolutely delicious - So full of flavour.
Came for dinner, and order the chicken enchiladas with salsa Roja. Ill start with the food. It came out slightly above room temperature. The salsa was fantastic, the corn tortillas for the enchiladas was very flavourful, but the shredded chicken filling was incredibly bland and disappointing, why a different protein couldnt be selected from their list, Im not totally sure. I know its meant to be mixed with the salsa, which is fine, but it just felt underwhelming. At the same time, the whole dish was pretty salty, not so much that its necessarily off-putting, but salty enough that you notice theres more than is needed. The rice and beans were okay, but the quantity of rice for a $20 plate wasnt what I expected, and I was still a little hungry after finishing the meal. I did try a bit of my partners tortilla soup, which I havent had before and tasted decent, and was quite hot. Maybe just not to my tastes, but it had large pieces of nachos on it, that were hard to eat on a spoon. I also tried a bite of their burrito, and the flour tortilla was decent, but I preferred the corn. Their chicken a plancha was quite flavorful, and Id wished it was an option in my enchiladas. But their burrito also came out room temp, but overall was a much larger portion than my enchiladas. The burrito was also too salty. The service was lacking a bit, had to ask for refills of water because they never checked or came around to refill, and they never came to ask how everything tasted once it was served. The atmosphere was...bad. the music was fairly loud, but there was different music also coming from the kitchen. The decor is...the place is still being renovated but parts of the wall were torn up where a bench must have been, and where I was seated was freezing because the AC was blasting directly on me. The plates were metal but also felt very cheap and kind of like cafeteria food. Overall, I wanted to give a 3.5, and Id be willing to give it another try, but Id probably just order in.
Vegetarian options: Great veggie options, with true mexican spice if requested. Food
Very simple interior, friendly atmosphere and service, good menu/interesting vegetarian choice of fillings. A casual spot for a long lunch. Would go back
Good food, I liked the breakfast with chilaquiles, good sauces!
Disappointed. Food wasn t too bad - it was ok . Found hair in our chips and a long piece of hair in my partners burrito . We let the server know - she didn t even apologize just looked surprised. They didn t even offer to make a new one or take it off the bill or even a discount which is odd . Also the service wasn t the best . She didn t check on us , didn t refill our waters . Everyone was done their plates of food and we still sat and waited for over 10 mins for the bill, which we had to wave someone down for. My first and last time going to this restaurant. ***update - my partner and I both got food poisoning.
Family friend recommended this place and glad they did. Service was fast and polite. Food was so good and quick to arrive. We had tacos dorados and mole enchiladas which were delicious and authentic Mexican. Chips and guacamole for starters. Hands down best restaurant guacamole besides my wife s ! Only downside was they were unable to serve alcohol as they we re waiting for their updated liquor license and no Toco Chico
The best mexican food in Ottawa. Very delicious sopa tortilla and mole.
I had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious, and the service was impressively quick. The seating area was pleasant and clean, although I would have appreciated more Mexican decor to enhance the ambiance. Overall, a great place to enjoy some tasty cuisine with fast service.
Great restaurant, authentic Mexican food
Enchiladas were amazing!
Friendly staff, decent food and prices are reasonable as well
My favourite Enchiladas ever!
Went here for a quick bite to eat and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, food, and service. The restaurant was quite busy for a late lunch and our server quickly had us seated with a drink in front of us. The menu is simple and executed perfectly. Food came out fast, hot, and absolutely delicious. My only qualm is that we asked for cilantro to be on the side which it was not. We will be back!
tasty fresh food and the service was friendly and quick
Delightful find. Completely unexpected, delicious & fresh Mexican food.
Great authentic Mexican food. We dis an online order, was ready on time and tasted delicious. Definitely will tell people about this place!
The food was plated horribly, it was dry and flavourless. The restaurant interior is unfinished and utilitarian. Awful rap music blaring. Although it s local to us we will not go back.
Best Mexican restaurant in town !! Amazing food and very good service.
All the food, the waters were very delicious and above all, the girl who served us was very nice and friendly, always attentive.
Wonderful Mexican food. I can recommend this restaurant without hesitation. Food
Very nice Mexican restaurant on Beechwood, the burrito verde was delicious! I chose the pulled beef protein option which was both delicious and generous in amount. Great service as well!
Great food and service!
I had a beautiful experience, the food was great, and the service was excellent, the atmosphere is like felling at home. I really recommend it.
Burrito is the size of a large potato. You tell me if you think thats worth 15 plus tax..
By far the best in Ottawa! The Burrito Verde is my favorite dish! :) Food
Love the food absolutely. Can the service be better, for sure! Recently went and the waitresses were pretty busy with the orders for pickup . But didnt even bother to come to our table until my wife went and asked for menu cards after 8 mins. There was 1 only other table occupied other than ours. After that it was smooth. Also, this is the second time we had an experience like this here. Would definitely appreciate better service.
Take out so can t comment on atmosphere
Ive only had their enfrijoladas and enchiladas so far, but theyve always been excellent at this cheerful spot.
Two stars is not enough because I didnt totally dislike it. Close though. The artfully applied mole sauce and crema couldnt disguise the fact that the enchiladas contained only a small amount of somewhat dry chicken. The accompanying mashed black beans and rice was tasty enough. The thin metal plate the meal came on might be fine for the restaurants kitchen oven but it quickly loses its heat. The meal was cold halfway through eating. Sitting near the window, I noticed that the windows lacked any finishing trim. Started looking around and saw that the whole restaurant lacked any sort of baseboard trim. On one wall, an electrical outlet protruded onto the floor with some conduit coming out the wall. Online photos are misleading. They show a colourful interior. Apparently these are from the previous location. Current look is dull concrete gray with almost no decoration. No liquor license yet $7 for a 0% Corona. Check your bill carefully before paying. An extra entree was added to ours. Bottom line. Not worth the visit.
Very good food. But the place is dirty and poorly managed and maintained. Even staff expressed frustration with the lack of efforts from the manager to finish their renovations and clean the place properly. To waste their good reputation with such negligence is sad. They were more cautious about their place when they opened their first restaurant on Montreal road. They should know that here, what you show at the front is a sign of how careful you are in the kitchen. Ill wait before going again. I was very disappointed by such neglect. Patrons eating on-site deserve just a little bit more care.
Its ok, good prices
Service was quick and food was delicious. The habanero sauce hit the spot. Not overly spicy with a nice heat.
Great service from Anna. Awesome nachos. I will return for the burrito.
I tried the chefs specialty which also bears the name of the restaurant (Chilaquiles) and it was a real discovery for me. Delicious with great service
Pretty sure food was reheated in microwave and still came our cold. Service was good but we were only people in there. Kitchen sounded like it was having a party. I dont think Ill be back.
The nachos are almost too good. Get them with carnitas. The chilaquiles and horchatas are also super tasty!
Love the place and food, hate that they tend to cancel orders on ubereats.
