Quick service, very friendly. The pork burrito was very good, and the jalapeno garlic hot sauce is excellent. Would definitely stop there for a late night burrito.

I live in Toronto and I will always say that Corazon de Maiz is my favorite place to eat. Its become a non negotiable when my husband and I visit Ottawa, we have to eat here!

This! This is the most delicious, most authentic Mexican food Ive found in Ottawa! Dont let the exterior of the shop fool you, inside awaits some of the most amazing tacos, burritos, sopes, tostadas, and more! Lets start with the customer service: the staff are very polite, friendly, and helpful! My wife was having trouble deciding which meat shed want for her quesadilla, and the staff recommended that she get 3 smaller tortillas for about the same price - each with a different filling for her to try. Then the atmosphere: The place is small, humble, very reminiscent of an authentic taqueria. Seating might be an issue occasionally, but the food makes up for it! And most importantly, the food: The meat is flavorful, tender, and juicy - and the tortillas have that authentic feel and taste. Simple food done well! This is what Ottawa needs more of!

Food was really good but the problem was the PORTION I ordered a small burrito, now I expected it to be small, but not THAT SMALL considering the price which was 13$ for a tiny burrito, even a 5 year old wouldn t be satisfied. My point is, if you re gonna make such miniature burritos, then atleast sell them at a logical price. Smh, won t be going back.

The food was tasteless, I dont understand why it has so many good reviews, it was nothing like good Mexican food. Another thing that bother me its that all the containers were in plastic, and styrofoam, they could have plates and glasses.

I love this place! You cant get better tostadas anywhere in Ottawa. Believe me I tried it all. Live the cosy, street food vibe. The staff is wonderful. I do like the chicken or beef tostadas but by far prefer the porc! Get 3 in a box and some homemade hot sauce.

On a hot summer afternoon, this homemade horchata is a 10/10.

I went to this place because it was rated well. I ordered quesadillas with beef and only one of them had plenty of beef and the other two were basically cheese (too much of it) with veggies and onions. The side of guac was good but it was not worth 4 stars. The lady who took my order was very nice though.

A little hole in the wall that is my taco go-to. Delicious, fresh, did I say delicious? I stopped by tonight to pick up four (one of each) to share. Mucho Gusto!

My sister first introduced me to Corazon de maiz and ever since I ve honestly recommended it to everyone that will listen and they all love it too!! They have amazing pork tacos as well as burritos, my sister and I love putting their garlic jalapeño sauce on our burritos and we were so happy when we found out they sell it in jars as well as their Horchata!! They also have the kindest workers I ve ever met :)

For $18 the burrito was very small and at that price I feel it should have come with a side at least. Was quite shocked when saw it. Feel ripped off. Shrinkflation I suppose. People need to feel like they are getting something for their money. This was not the case here. Too bad because the burrito was delicious.

Best Mexican cuisine

The tostadas are fantastic. I had one chicken, one pork and one beef. Generous toppings and servings of meat. Well worth the money. Ill definitely be making Corazon my go-to Mexican restaurant in downtown Ottawa. The flavour brings me back to Puerto Vallarta

It is not as good as it used to be. The portions are smaller and the price is higher. They still make tasty soft tacos, and have a number of other authentic Mexican offerings, but there is a gap between what it was a few years ago and the quality of what it is today.

Its a very relaxed and leisurely restaurant. This time, 4 people ordered 1 Tacos*3 (chicken) and 1 burro bowl (pork) each. The chicken was fresh and elastic, and very delicious. If you have a chance to go to Byward Market, you can try it.

Food was good, service was blah. Music was too loud and the guy kept singing along at the top of his lungs, it was quite annoying. Asked for salsa which was in comprehensible to the server for some reason. I did not get friendly vibes from the staff.

Small portions for large , might as well get a small the portions were so tiny .

Despicable portion, indescribable stomach pain after consuming this food. I don t understand how this is possible. To scam people by giving them a mouse sized portion and then on top of that having to be in agony 4 hours post meal. Like genuinely this place is a finesse.

The Food Portions were small , even though it was a large , The beans and rice tasted old , the chicken tasted like donkey ankles and raccoon meat , this place has gone in the deep in, food upsets your stomach and makes you feel urchimaru on crack .Even Choji himself wouldn t eat this food .

I loved this place for years, but the prices are so ludicrous that I will never go again. 2024 is expensive, but $14 for guac and chips?!? $10.50 for a single taco?!?! These prices would be unreasonable even in a sit down restaurant.

I remembered this place being the best in town for their affordability and quantity, but I was disappointed with my recent visit. $18 for a large burrito bowl that wasn t packed and I could only ask for two small dollops of salsa on the side.

My go-to for tacos and burritos in the downtown area for years and years. Friendly staff, great taste and amazing hot sauces. I do miss the days where the hot sauces were in squeeze bottles at the counter, but they are now in little plastic containers. Very limited seating and is super casual. Prices were reasonable before but like everywhere else they have gone up, and so have the days where you can get a taco for a few dollars. Its still worth a trip if youre in the market, but Im glad Im not a student anymore because my wallet would be weeping lol.

This place is a longtime favorite of mine, 10 out of 10 over 10 or whatever that one girl said. Magnificent, truly authentic, great service always and the quality of the food is just out of this world. If I crave Mexican food in Ottawa its always here that I want to go! They also sell authentic Mexican snacks and candies and house made horacha as well as all of their delicious salsas! If you enjoy a good smoky spicy hot sauce, you wont be able to get enough of their Morita sauce! I could do an in depth review of each sauce and dish but I will leave it at this: dont deprive your taste buds of this amazing experience . And I cannot be held responsible for your bank balance once you get addicted. Vegetarian options: All or most dishes have the option to be made vegetarian Kid-friendliness: Small children can dine here but there are no high chairs available, so be mindful. Space is also limited so bulky strollers my be difficult to work with. Generally during good weather they have the outer most wall facing the heart of the market open so you can just leave the stroller on the outside and still have it right next to you.

Quick service from extremely friendly staff. The chicken burrito was the best burrito ive had in my life. Diego sauce was delicious, but it is quite spicy, even for someone used to heat. Pricy horchata but it tastes great and you get a mason jar for the road. Will come again.

Ordered a generous amount of food and drinks delivered to a local hotel for my son s special birthday weekend. This place ripped us off for drinks and were extremely rude when we called to tell them. We assumed it was a mistake but the guy who answered the phone refused to send drinks or compensate us. Worse, he was arrogant and rude and really did not care that he ripped us off. Also, the food was overpriced and bland. The sauces were mostly good but incredibly expensive for the amount. Ottawa has much better Mexican food, more reasonably priced, and with much nicer service.

The food is ok The service we got was fantastic.! We went on March 27 during the evening and this wonderful employee made our entire week. I think that their name was Ronaldo. They had old latino reggae and reguetón on. They were singing and dancing and taking care of the whole place with grace. It felt like a cozy place in Mexico. It s nice to see some life in generic Ottawa. My partner and I will keep coming back until we can see this guy again. Unforgettable magical experience.

It was fantastic

Ive been going to Corazon de Maiz ever since it opened over a decade ago and its still the best burrito ever. The restaurant itself is quaint and small but it makes sense for the area. Their garlic jalapeño and sweet chipotle sauces are insane. Writing this has made me so hungry that Im ordering one right after this review, haha.

The food and the service were great, the place is quite small, but the owner still tried to fit us in (group of 7 people). Kid-friendliness: Our 4 and 2 year old likes very much the beef quesadilla

The staff and atmosphere is great. We had a burrito and 3 tacos. We felt that it lacked flavor and was bland. the tacos do not come with cheese and are an add-on instead. I like that you could choose the sauce and have it on the side. They have great reviews about their food so its a little disappointing it turned out like that for us.

I cant stress it enough, the atmosphere is sooooo welcoming and the team is there to make your stop an amazing meal. I havent even touched on the food either. This place is a true jewel. Great authentic, not overdone à la chipotle straight up food where you can taste what is in it. Do it.

Pretty authentic food, with a variety of hot sauces and spice levels. Friendly staff and quick preparation time. Try the sopa de tortilla as a small entré and any of the items medium sized. Should be a good mix. Pair it with a Jamaica tea and youre good for a meal. Theres limited seating but they can bring your food inside, or take it to go and find seating inside the market.

We were tourists in town and of a million opportunities for something to eat we haven chosen the golden pick. This humble place has absolutely gorgeous food to offer. The soft tacos where the best ones I ever had. Savory, falling apart braised meat, authentic toppings, sauces and Guac. Also dont miss the homemade hibiscus ice tea. Ill definitely come back, if Ill ever come back to Ottawa. Thanks for everything. An absulte must for lovers of mexican food.

Wow wow wow!! What an amazing spot in the heart of byward market. Delicious authentic Mexican food. Some of the best tacos and quesadillas. Their different sauces are to die for. And then to top it off they have amazing delicious freshly made hibiscus tea. The staff and service are second to none as well. Oh and of course lots of gluten-free options since they have corn tortillas for both the tacos and quesadillas. Highly recommended and will be coming again for sure. Very very small dining area, food was amazing felt like I was back in Mexico. Server was nice, only thing I didnt like was she told us to get wtv drink we wanted from the fridge help ourselves, each drink was 4$... even a can of coke. Didnt like that surprise on my bill but I totally get it wasnt free or anything but that was a tad pricey. For 3 people my bill was 100$ .

The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Ottawa. Charming place, the owners are so attentive and kind. We had the quesedillas and the pork burrito with little spicy sauces. Wow, delicious! Unfortunately, since we arrived at closing time we were not able to taste different meats, only pork. We will definitely come back to taste the other meats. I recommend the place to everyone.

We had 2 lovely burritos for lunch here as we just happened to walk by. Probably the best burritos we have ever eaten. They were so tasty and fresh, the tortilla was lovely and crispy. The selection of hot sauces were delicious and I would definitely buy the sauces separately. Service was friendly - I would definitely recommend the place and already have to my friends who live in Ottawa!

Love this place! Been going for years and even though it pricer this year the food is still worth it. Fresh and made with love make it worth every penny. I usually get a set of 3 pork tacos. They come stuffed (with two shells too) and with a decent side of guacamole and pico de gallo. You also get a choice of two hot sauces out if there selection that very in spice level (I get mild ones like chipotle and salsa verte). If you re feeling like drinking something sweet I recommend the horchata (rice based drink) too. Additionally, Mexican owned and run which if the big big plus too! Love support smaller family shops like this. Go for it and try them out sometime! It s worth it.

Good food, very good service, decent atmosphere in the most happening location. Best place to energize after exploring the busiest street markets in Toronto- Byward market. Price range is slightly higher for a street shop; government must seriously do something about the cost of living situation the country and its people are dealing with.

Very fast service and attractive price. I took the Large Mexican salad and it was really big. Note that I am still a heavyweight with a big appetite. The small format should do the trick for a normal human. Good choice of sauce, they were very spicy.

I have been coming to Corazon De Maiz for years. Not only is it the best Burrito place in Ottawa, they also have the best salsas which I always buy to use at home. The owner is one of the most friendly, generous, and caring people you will ever meet. He always goes above and beyond to make customers super happy! This place is the hidden gem of mexican food in Ottawa. By far the best burritos in Ottawa, but also their nachos are spectacular. Note for those who like spicy, they have their own spices which they will let YOU put on when they make your burrito. That is by far the best way to ensure adequate spice levels.

Not worth the price at all. We were looking for affordable options when in Ottawa downtown and this place came up with one dollar sign ($) next to the place but it was expensive, please dont go by the one dollar sign, one quesadilla and a tortilla soup was for 31 dollar after taxes (no tip included), and the quantity is also too less. Would recommend chipotle just down the street.

A small Mexican shack nestled in the bustling byward market. The price is definitely in the higher side (we paid $8 for one taco). They had lot of homemade sauce options, overall tasty food.

Love this place!

Family run business making amazing authentic Mexican cuisine, they even have the Mexican Coca-Cola if you ask for it! Great place for lunch or dinner. Tacos are my fav as I can have different meats with each.
