food is fantastic I am a big eater and thats why I picked 20 to $30 per person I have had Mexican dishes I have had the hamburger with cheese and bacon which is absolutely fabulous and last night I finally had the chicken that looks so good and I certainly was not disappointed and I washed the chicken Frys and rice down with a taco not because I needed to because I wanted to I have had the same complaint 3 weeks in a row the forks are too small laugh out loud great food great stuff what else can I say

Terrible customer experience. Went there to try their burrito and there were two people (a guy and a girl) working there. The girl started my order but she seemed very slow and reluctant to serve. I thought, maybe she is having a bad day. She finished wrapping up my burrito and the guy was doing the tilt and check out. I thought he might give a better customer experience. His service was even more disappointing.

The only show in town for late night food that s fresh, delicious, and served up with a smile. Hard to find just one of those things in Ottawa today! The Mexican is authentic and reminds me of the original Mexi s in the Glebe. The handmade burgers (for real!) are better than I could make myself, you ll drool a little just looking at one. Thanks so much to the staff, they create every amazing dish as if they were preparing it for their mum. If it s not in your neighborhood, then they have Uber Eats, lined out the door!

Good food. Incompetent employees. I go here frequently because of their hours and the food but the staff are frequently utterly stunned. Most recent example was making a pickup order to be ready between 8:25 and 8:40 - at 8:38 I arrived to a store with no customers and the staff doing nothing but my food not made. When I brought this up they decided to make a delivery order first making me wait for a customer or delivery driver that wasnt even there. Afterwards they failed to label the order properly.

I am from Toronto and I was craving Mexican food. We tried their burrito and tacos and it was genuinely the best burrito I have ever had in my life! It was amazing!! Everything was fresh, flavourful and staff were friendly. They also played great music!

Trash restaurant, don t waste your money here. Food tastes old and smelly. There are much better burrito places out there and the owner is arab, the guy doesn t know the first thing about making burritos. Overpriced and customer service does not exist, I think this is actually a circus with the headmaster clown running the show.

This place has good quality food, quantity is probably 10% less than what you might get at the competition but the taste would compensate that. Must try!

This was my first visit, the line was really short, and the service was fast. I got the burrito bowl, they give you a lot, and a free tortilla as well. They have a great selection of drinks as well! I will definitely come back and try the nachos next time! I would love for them to have brown rice, one day as well :-)

Came for a late night light snack. Got the best brotherly burrito service ever. Dude hit me with a monster mix. And before I knew it, I was leaving the store feeling like an absolute beast, ready to devour what looks like a 3 course meal. No regrets. Place is a delicious hidden gem.

Ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Was charged for a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink (which I never ordered ). Burger tasted awful and had to return(for a refund) as it was inedible. Service wasnt rude, but certainly wasnt friendly. Atnosphere inside is shabby and not welcoming. I will avoid going forward as this experience left a lot to be desired

Fantastic burritos. Possibly the best in the city. Friendly staff seem to have solved the issue with online orders getting forgotten. The parking lot is a fiasco but thats not the stores fault. Vegetarian options: They exist. Woo free guac! Parking: Be. Careful! That big lot is a complete zoo.

First off, the food here has always been excellent. I have been coming for about 8 years at least once a month or more. Usually everything is fine, and the two regulars who make my food are awesome. Today I got the cashier, who made my burrito, then put it on the grill and puttered around for 4 minutes while it burned. It wasnt that busy. One uber pickup (that was ready to go) and two people behind me who were being served by the regular staff. When it finally came off the grill it was crispy and the leaked bits were singed. No worries, they will make another I thought. Nope, she ordered the other person to get a new wrap and unceremoniously shredded the burnt wrap and dumped/squeezed out the seared contents including blackened guacamole and seared chipolte sauce, along with remnants of the wrap husk. I asked for a new one and she snapped at me that she could add more to this one. I said I would rather not have it and began to leave. She said something to the effect of your choice and was angry I was not accepting what looked like a bag of burnt dog feces haphazardly spread on a fresh tortilla shell. Maybe they were having a bad day, but I was hungry and not in the mood to cave to poor service. I will miss the food, but I will not be back. Sadly, A former customer

This is one of the most unhygienic places where one wishes to eat. The owner, the bald guy, has no limit in cross-contamination. His hand/fingers go from back-shop activity into your food without shame. I have no idea why it is known for its little and high price sandwiches while disregarding so much for the customers health.

In general, I like this restaurant, and I would like to give a better review. However, Ive had a few bad experiences when I have ordered from here for delivery. My main frustration is that for the second time, I paid for a side of guacamole that I did not receive. For me personally, guac is a huge requirement. So when I pay extra for it and dont receive it, it really irritates me. Since this happened twice, I dont think I will be ordering from here for delivery again.

Our staff at the Hospital have really enjoyed ordering food from this restaurant in the past and have had great service. However on New Years Eve night we ordered a $200+ order and all 5 of our Taco bowls came without the tortilla bowl. There was no phone call to let us know that the restaurant ran out of the tortilla bowls. I phoned the restaurant and spoke with a lady that told me that the restaurant is very busy and ran out of the bowls. I understand that we are going through hard times right now and being New Years it is probably one of the busiest nights of the year, but a simple phone call would have been appreciated. We were offered no compensation and no notice that our order was missing a key part of the order. When I spoke with the lady she ended up hanging up the phone on me. We are not impressed with the lack of service that was provided to us tonight and will not be ordering from this restaurant again.

I ve only ordered from here once, but both burritos were pretty flavourless. The rice was bland, and there was way too much on both. It s not bad, but there are better burritos to be had in Ottawa. I was a bit disappointed, to be honest.

Ordered by delivery. Burrito came without cheese (paid add-on) and sour cream, and also did not come with the order of chips we ordered. It is hard to review the burritos since they lacked essential ingredients, but otherwise seemed like they would be good burritos based on the ingredients that we did receive. Our first impression wasnt great and we will probably look elsewhere when ordering Mexican food again which is a shame because this place looked decent.

I went with my husband in the afternoon because we were very hungry and at a time we would like to eat Mexican food. The smell of the place is wonderful. But when we went to order the service lady ignored us. soon after, a boy came, talking very fast. I had doubts and he didnt answer what he wanted, he mounted it very fast even. When inquiring about drinks, he only pointed us to the menu above his head. When we sat down to eat, we received several disapproving looks. The food is pretty average, it left a lot to be desired, it was expensive and a sandwich at Subway would be infinitely more satisfying

We ordered the taco station for 30 people for my husbands birthday. Everyone raved about the food. JohnJuan came and set everything up, and at the end, came and picked everything up. It could not have been easier, or yummier. Lots of wonderful options to please everybody, and such a delight to no be cooking all the day. Reasonably priced and wonderful quality. Will certainly be using again!

Food is really good but seriously reconsider your packaging, liquids do not go well with thin cardboard.

The interior looks like a small converted quick pizzeria, but the dishes are more than excellent! Authentic Mexican cuisine, the portions are very generous, the prices are more than reasonable, and there was a crazy amount of traffic for a Monday evening, so we can imagine that its ALWAYS good every night. In addition, the staff is accommodating and very helpful! Highly recommend.

Ordered the Asada Steak regular burrito, chips, black bean dip and chipotle mayo. John Juan Buttito did not disappoint when it comes to the amount of steak added. Some places use rice as a filler to avoid adding more meat, NOT John Juan. So much meat, so good! Huge!

I m currently Visiting from Edmonton Alberta, my wife and I are just finding the top rated restaurants and stumbled upon this place. They have halal options. Smelled nice as soon as we walked in, asked the cook what his fav item was. He said the cheeseburger, gotta say, top 3 cheeseburger I ve had in my life. Was absolutely delicious and the portions are huge with fries. Come hungry. Super juicy and flavourful. Wife the got the taco salad, so damn good as well. She got it with halal chicken and I had a few bites, so many flavours and it was bomb. Got it in the hard shell taco bowl and it s been fun watching her break it and eat the salad with it. Down side I found it pretty expensive, but the portions make up for it. And quality.

Terrible experience with the owner

Disgusting experience- about 15 kids running around , screaming outside banging on a drum. Kids walking to and from the kitchen with their friends, picking at food from the cases with their bare fingers, drizzling sauces and eating them in the kitchen in front of the whole restaurant. The place ran out of every meat but chicken. One employee looked like she was about to pass out, slumped over on a chair and also wearing open toe slides. Generally unhygienic, Un-cared for, violation of food safety standards and unpleasant environment. Sad because I ordered from this restaurant all the time on Uber eats but happened to decide to pick it up for once..

The service from the John Juan staff, Jahill, Jdeih, Omran, and Morad, was the best service I ve received in the city. It was the perfect mix of timely and hospital service and excellent food for a great price. Would definitely recommend John Juan to everyone in or passing through Ottawa

Ive been twice now with my fiance. First time we tried the burgers and they were unbelievably good we dreamed of them for days. Cane back today to try the burritos and WOW thats got to be the best burritos we have ever had. Cookies are amazing too!!! Everything is so fresh!!! I cant say enough!! We will be back!!

My first experience ever going to this restaurant...I was told (right after a burrito with rice was made right in front of me) that they had no rice. Not a problem normally. But at 7pm while youre open till 130am kinda shocked me . No one mentioned when they would have more. Just empty stares and no apologies. Customer service, 1 star for sure. Again, considering this was my 1st experience here. I will not waste my time going back.

Staff obviously doesnt care. I was the only one in the restaurant waiting, and they went about their chores and let me stand there for 5-6 mins before taking my order. Asked for guac, didnt get guac (paid for it though!). So a regular burrito with ghost guac set me back 17$!!! No sides, no drinks?? 17$!? Also when I was at the cash and told the man at the cash Id be paying credit, he just pointed at the payment device without saying a word (hed already sent it to the device even though I hadnt said how I was paying). The whole situation was very rude. The end result was a very expensive, but only mediocre burrito. I used to go here often pre-covid and its been a long time since I had gone back. Now I know its not worth returning.

The burritos and other foods are amazing, but it seems the two similar-looking middle aged bald guys who work the place (they seem like managers or supervisors or something) are rude to the other workers, to the point that I prefer to go there when they are not.

Ordered corn tortillas and specified gluten intolerance as part of the order. Staff packaged corn tortillas on tip of flour tortillas that were part of a separate order. Staff could pay closer attention to allergies instructions.

Didn t even have a chance to try the food because we when came in the sitting area was absolutely filthy and when we asked for someone to clean it, they stared at us like we were crazy. We walked out after that. If you advertise dine in, make sure the dine in area is actually clean and available for customers. Otherwise indicate you are a takeout place only.

Tried this establishment on three separate occasions and had a different order each time. Just your average Ottawa Mexican restaurant. Nothing tastes special and their cook didnt have a mask on.

We discovered this restaurant recently and it s fantastic! The food is fresh, flavourful and always prepared exactly as you want it. We have a big family and we just email in the order form on their website and then pick up our order which is perfectly organized with everyone s name on it. You need to try this place!

Was overcharged for a large burrito bowl. Didn t realize until I got home. Also they didn t include the small tortilla in my order even though they asked me what kind I want. Food is usually good but 1 star for overcharging. Can t support a dishonest business

I came in saturday night to a whole lotta screaming and wildness, this girl was going INSANE!!!!!!!!!!! I was blown away by the attitude she was giving everyone, It was like a zoo. Good food and reliable. One star lost as staff are far more focused on Uber than customers who pick up. Uber and Skip the Dishes take a big cut, so I go to restaurants I like to cut out the corporate middle man. Staff at Jon Juan will make you feel like an inconvenience even though you re worth 15-20% more than the same meal ordered through Uber of Skip the Dishes. Update Dec 2021: Unofrtunatley dropped to 3 stars. Sadly, the quality seems to have slipped across last two orders. Shrinkflation means sizes are smaller and items were missed on both orders.

Much like Ramis review from a month ago I also got slightly overcharged with a missing Tortilla for my Burrito Bowl that I noticed when I got home. If this is going to happen, at least offer people compensation. Anyway, it also took quite a few minutes to get to me while awkwardly standing at the front of the line with no other customers in the store. On a last note, I feel pretty bad for the new employees there as they were not patiently explained to when they were missing something on a SkipTheDishes order; nothing like getting yelled at by a manager whose nose is sticking out from a mask. Ill stick to the Mucho Burrito nearby.
