La Fiesta Latina in Ottawa

Not only did we wait 15 minutes for 3 simple drinks but every single menu item was barely edible. When trying to explain it was severely disliked the worker argued back saying it couldn t be so. All the food was cold and tasted very bad. I do not recommend this location as if you are unsatisfied they will not try to help you.

My wife is Mexican and was trying to find a good traditional Mexican restaurant. We found it here! We ordered way too many dishes and everything was so good. They make a homemade Tres Leches cake that was unbelievable! Awesome staff, amazing nostalgic Mexican food, and great environment. Menu is huge with vegetarian dishes and some fushion ones too. Even if you dont like Mexican food youll find stuff youll love. Gotta head down!

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is the place.

As a mexican and vegetarian person living in Canada I can tell that I love that they have vegan/vegetarian options without changing the flavour of authentic Mexican food. The service is amazing and the menu is super diverse, I love that they include dishes from other countries like Colombia, Venezuela, El Salvador, etc The chilaquiles were a bit spicy but overall quite tasty. All the flavour tacos were perfect. The place looks cozy but the space is a bit small and when it gets full, it feels super crowded but I definitely recommend it.

Thi is by far my favourite Mexican restaurant in Ottawa and I come here at least a couple times a months. My favourite go to are the tacos, nachos, plantains and a Horchata to drink.

High quality food for an affordable price. For 30$ I had the best tacos I think ive tried with beans and rice that followed suit. Vegetarian options: Plenty of great Veggie options and no inflated price attached. I think the Veggie tacos are 4$ less than the options with meat protien. Both of wich are priced very reasonably.

Stopping by for some tacos tonight was probably the best decision Ive ever made. Every bite was delicious and my friend thanked me several times for bringing him. Update August 25 2024: La fiesta catered a taco bar for a party yesterday, and our guests absolutely loved the food! The quality, quantity, and price were perfect. I reached out via email and they were able to customize the order based on our needs for the dessert, number of guests, dietary restrictions, and allergies. The tofu chorizo, beef chorizo, calaba itas, and mole (i had this dine in on another visit) are delicious. 10/10 theyre a great option if you want a delicious and plentiful taco bar with awesome rice, sauces, and a staggering quantity of fresh tortilla chips! Vegetarian options: Incredible! They have so many options - the tofu chorizo is delicious and the (has cheese) calabacitas are wonderful

I ve eaten here a few times and it s good food. However, they had special deals for the vegeterian menu on Uber Eats, and I ended up getting food poisoning from it. I will not be coming back, don t risk it!

I recomed the bistec and the plantain they have.

We had a Cuban server, William, and while very busy, he was excellent at explaining the menu items I asked about.. the food was excellent, extremely flavorful, not watered down like most foods from spicy places.. I was very pleased and look forward to more visits.. we were sitting outside on basically a picnic table. Unfortunately, the street is only a few meters away, and its a part of the city with not the greatest representation of people.. we were approached by only one asking if there were cigarettes to be had.. But otherwise there are only a couple Latin places I have been to that have good flavor in Ottawa and serve real food.. not sloppy sauce covered simulated Latin..

Food generally tasted good but the tacos were missing toppings (onions, pico de gallo, cilantro, lime). They have pictures of every dish in their menu which is great but they definitely don t live up to them.

Cute little place who makes real-deal Mexican food. Lots of vegetarian options.

Unless you like being disappointed dont order the pupusas de queso. Even on sale theyre $5.50 each, tiny, tasteless and dont even come with curtido. Oh well I guess I still need to go Montreal for a good pupusa because I Have yet to find one in Ottawa (Except when the Salvadoran ladies get together for a fund raiser)

This used to be Ottawa s best Mexican restaurant, we don t know if they changed owners or administration but it has become very different in every aspect. So sad! Change for worse

The food was great, I also love how the menu has pictures for every item! The service was fairly quick, my main issue though was the AC was dripping all over the table next to us and on myself we couldn t really move because it s a very small restaurant with maybe 6 tables. Food

Service was kind. We found the value for money to be good. Some of the food was delicious and flavourful, such as the soups. We enjoyed some of the tacos, but found the others to be a bit bland and lacking in real flavour. The chips are nice, but the guacamole was a little bland and disappointing. They have so so many items on their menu, it must be difficult to make all those items fresh and flavourful. Maybe narrowing down their options and really focusing on a few signature dishes could elevate the taste of the food.

I got 2 taco platters and 3 pappusas with 2 drinks and my bill was $100+ for a local place like this that s not fancy and the atmosphere isn t all that, i would expect it to be less expensive. the server was very friendly tho. 7(food)/10 Food

One empanada and three tostados even though I only ordered two plus two tacos. Sixty two dollars. The rice was burnt as in crusty and hard it was not edible. I explained this to the server who said she would bring me a container so I could take it home. No idea why she thought I should take it home and even worse she insisted I pay for it while she kept apologizing. Some of this might have been avoided if she had come over to the table to ask if we were enjoying the food but we never saw her until it was too late. The steak Tostada was good. Cold but good. I ate one tostado the rest of the food went in the garbage on my way out.

As a lover of Mexican food, I have been on a mission to find the best authentic mexican restaurants since moving to Ottawa. This is the best one yet! I had the chorizo crispy tacos and they were great! The prices are also very fair.

It has been the worst experience I have had in a Latin restaurant in Ottawa knowing that there are not many Latin restaurants in the city. Without a doubt they denigrate one of the best gastronomy in the world. It took them more than 15 minutes to serve me when the food came out in just five and the worst of all is that it didnt taste like anything. They urgently need a costumer service course because they dont have it. Furthermore, they have the nerve to comment on purely incoherent things, as if they were a detractor, a shame because it is clear that they are also unprofessional and resentful, perhaps new to the restaurant industry, educate yourselves.

I made a reservation for 13 people, they called me half an hour before and canceled it! Appalling!

Everything I tried was absolutely delicious, you can feel all the effort and love they put in every detail of the plate. Ordered for the first time, via UberEats. The food was good, packaging was good. My only critique is that the tacos, quesadillas and tamale lacked sauce. There were some red sauces included, but just small amounts. It would have even been more delicious if there was some sour cream or more sauce or salsa etc. overall - delicious food though. I ll definitely try again. The tamales are absolutely delicious!!

Delicious authentic Mexican food, full of flavor, perfect for satisfying any craving. Ive had this place on my To-Go list for a while so Im glad we stopped in on a whim today! Its been a long time since Ive had really good authentic Mexican food, but La Fiesta really nailed it for me. Smooth and fresh flavors for the guacamole and salsa. The pork carnitas, pastor, and chorizo tacos were cooked to perfection, good level of spice on the pastor and chorizo, the hot Diosa Verde sauce is AMAZING- creamy, cilantro, citrus and spice goodness. Will for sure be back again.

Best burrito I ve had in Ottawa!

We arrived on Thursday at 3:30pm and It was close! It ll be a good idea to change the schedule when you are planning to close.

The place is nice, they sell LATAM products (mazapan, nopales, sauces) The service is good. Everything is very delicious! Even though the meat al pastor looks like crap...

Ate here during our vacation in Ottawa and was very disappointed. The resturant itself is very small. Even though it wasnt busy the waiter seemed to have a hard time keeping up with orders. It was just my husband and I as well as 2 other girls at a separate table. The waiter was the only worker that we were able to see and he would disappear for 25 minutes at a time in the backroom leaving the dining area empty. It took the girls at the next table 15 before they were able to order due to the waiter being missing. We ordered the birria tacos, chicharon and 2 margaritas. The birria was very good however was disappointed it didnt come with consome and the portion was very very small. The waiter also forgot that we ordered 2 of them so we had to remind him and wait extra time on top of the long wait we initially waited for the food to come out. Our margaritas were okay but mine came with a broken straw so I couldnt drink it properly. I asked the waiter for a straw 3 different times before we finally gave up and my husband cut my straw in half so I could finally drink my drink. Chicharon sharable plate wasnt shareable at all. It was a really small plate with the chicken and 3 mini tacos to put them in. It wasnt the chicharon we were hoping to get and was really expensive for what looked like single serving appetizer rather than a large sharable. For reference my individual plate of birria was bigger. Overall we spent way too much money, really dissatisfied with the service. Will not be returning.

I ate here for the first time today. There is plenty of street parking available. Its a clean, small restaurant with 5 or 6 tables and has a bright, friendly atmosphere. My server Marlene is a native of Mexico and was very pleasant and spoke spanish to me at my request. She was great with the explanation of the different dishes and salsas. I started with the Birria lamb soup which was incredible!! It was accompanied by a jarred salsa called Salsa Macha. The salsa was very different and tasted authentically mexican, nothing like a standard tomato salsa you get in Canadian restaurants. It was very good. I felt like I was somewhere in the middle of Mexico with every bite of my soup. Nothing about the soup or salsa tasted Canadian. For the main, I ordered a Happy Burrito (Carnitas) w/fries. The burrito was pretty good but really came to life when I asked her for a salsa verde and she brought me Diosa Verde!! This whitish-green sauce was heavenly!! The fries were perfect. You can tell the grease is changed frequently as the fries were fresh and light in colour. The restaurant has a great selection of Mexican drinks (Jarritos) and other Latin American favourites such as Inca Cola (Peru), Postobon and Colombiana (both from Colombia), which are among some of my personal favorite sodas. I will definitely be back to try more delicious food!

Oh my Oh my.. This place checks all the authentic Latin restaurant boxes! I got 3 tacos and a tostada My girl got 3 quesadillas. Serving sizes were perfect and at roughly $20 per plate... I DARE YOU TO FIND MORE FLAVOR FOR LESS MONEY! Its been a few hours, and were still talking about how damn delicious that meal was. This place is VERY vegetarian friendly. In short. Had plans to come into La Fiesta for 2 pm last Saturday. However when I got there, they had a sign saying they re only open at 2:45 pm. Thankfully there was a coffee shop next door, but wish the hours were updated on here. Went back at 3, and was greeted by a friendly face. The menu is very allergy friendly as the owners niece has a gluten allergy + is lactose intolerant. So the whole menu is gluten free + has a ton of dairy free options which was awesome! I was sharing these tacos with a friend so we both got our own cheese on the side to add ontop. The flavour of the tacos were so tasty - I loved the Chicken Apollo + the Pastor the most. The portions are decent but they look nothing like the previously photos on here. The margarita was alright, I was disappointed there was no salted rim and they didn t give me the options to have it on ice. We also ordered a Paloma but they didn t have the mix to make the beverage so he had to resort to beer. I would definitely go back & recommend this place to friends but I wouldnt order the beverage + I d call to confirm the hours

The character of this building has made me want to try it for a while! We stopped in around 7pm and had a quiet dinner for two. The prices are good for dinner -- $20 each and we were good and full. We ordered the tostitas plate and tacos + yuca fries. The chorizo taco was amazing! The yuca fries were also very satisfying with a crunchy outside and soft inside. We also loved the refried beans. I read through some of the negative reviews (a bad habit I have) and a lot of people complained that the dish didnt match the menu photo. I took photos of my dishes and compared them with the menu and Id say theyre pretty accurate, so the owner must have fixed something. I attached photos of the menu vs our dishes. (The menu photos dont have utensils)

Ive been wanting to try this little place since I moved to Ottawa a year ago. My only disappointment is that I havent tried it sooner. I stopped in yesterday on a whim; I think maybe the restaurant was closing but the sign wasnt turned yet; they were happy to serve me for takeout. I had 3 tacos (2 pollo & 1 carnitas) with a side of plantain. The flavors were INSANE. Arguably the best tacos Ive had in Ottawa so far. Cant wait to go back and try more of their menu items.

Amazing authentic tacos. I have tried at least 5 different kinds by now and have loved all of them. The price is great and the food is filling. The service is always great as well, they are always friendly there. Besides the restaurant food, they also offer a selection of hot sauces, and other ingredients to make your own food at home. It is definitely a hidden gem and worth discovering.

Though I have nothing bad to say about this place I should mention that the food is on the pricey side for a portion youd hope would be bigger. That said the soups they serve are delicious but the chilaquiles lacked the flavour I had hoped for and this goes for their tacos. Overall pretty decent but if you come from a Mexican background this might not meet your expectations.

There is plenty of good Mexican food in Ottawa, but this restaurant is AUTHENTIC! It definitely stands apart from the others I have tried. Every bite brought back memories of the South and Central American restaurants I used to visit in Texas. Kid-friendliness: I would definitely recommend it as kid friendly fare, because even the pickiest kids I have known would go nuts on a pupusa or some yuca fries. My kids did.

Came here May 3/23. Very, very good. Good guacamole, had tres tacos and plantain, and beer. Everything was good, each taco was tasty, each sauce was delish. The waiter was super helpful, and left us alone once our party was chatting. Maybe the best meal of this kind I ve have in Ottawa. I will be back

I got 3 tacos and a drink for lunch. I ordered pastor, pollo de mole verde ,Beef fajitas with a pineapple jarritos. The pastor was the best out of the three. It s usually my go to meat. They fill the tacos up all the way no cheating out on customer! Also very lovely restaurant. Great vibe!

Really tasty. This was my first time trying La Fiesta Latina. I had the 3 taco meal and each taco was very good. My only complaint is that it seems a little pricey for what you get.

Amazing food! I got 3 different tacos that my waiter recommended and they were amazing. 2 double strawberry margaritas later and we are discussing learning the dance to the wonderful music outside. Fantastic service, even better food. Will be coming back!

A quaint spot with authentic Mexican food and great service. We are both vegan and easily found options in the menu. Our server was even able to explain the other items that could be made vegan! The food was fresh and delicious and a good value. If you plan to dine in, the seating is limited but grab the table out front if you can it s private and perfect for people watching. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. They can veganize many of the non-vegan items too.

Great place for authentic street tacos. Lots of vegan and gluten-free options. The Yuca fries are amazing. You can ask for a vegan version of the dipping sauce. There are also plenty of options for the omnis as well so everyone can eat together. Vegetarian options: There is an entire taco menu of vegetarian and vegan fillings.

Hubby and I were craving some home cooked style food from his native land of Mexico. Of course I could cook it but . A lot of work. We chose to go to La Fiesta Latina because of the rave reviews and extensive menu of latin American dishes that you seldom see north of the border. We were not disappointed!! The food was yummy and authentic. The atmosphere was also very charming with a rooster on the roof and another giant rooster fixture in the outside eating area. We chose to eat outside as the weather was absolutely perfect and we knew that here in Ottawa this kind of evening weather was soon to end. I remembered this time to take a pick of our meals before we scarfed them down, although we had already tucked in. I ve included numerous photos of the interior and exterior to share our wonderful adventure. If you like Latin American cuisine and you love charm you must visit this restaurant. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options with latin american food and it s very tasty too Wheelchair accessibility: You can dine outside if you are using a wheelchair but it s not accessible otherwise.I m not sure about restroom accessibility if you can go in through the kitchen.

Your response is not only a blatant lie its also an insight in how you view honesty from customers. My wife has never been rude to any server in her life. I actually tell her she needs to complain once in a while because she is too empathetic. LOL! Youd be better off trying to find out the truth about your food quality than going on the attach and responding with aggressive lies. Hopefully you get things sorted out there.

Amazing quality, taste, and well-priced food for people of all kinds of tastes. Moses our server also does a lot of the cooking for the restaurant and is a very humble and passionate man; and that definitely reflects the food given to us. The atmosphere is also very thematic to the style of food! Try to find the picture of the grandma holding the cigar in the washroom of their building! Please try the tacos, traditional dishes, tres leches, and sweet plantains as they are solid! - Tacos filled with meat - Traditional taste and homey-ness without being too gourmet; amazing for the purists

I do not usually give reviews, but this place is a wonderful place to go for authentic and tasty food. The servings were perfect and the flavours were very balanced. Also, the tres leches cake was absolutely phenomenal. I will be coming here again with more people sometime soon.

The restaurant is in a house, like many in that part of town. The feed was good, service was meh and slow with three tables, one of which was finishing. We saw the sign for their 6 car parking lot as we were walking in after parking a block away.

A friend and I had lunch here. Both of us really enjoyed the food and drinks. The food was very flavourful and so good! I had the La Yucateca / Cochinita Pibil Plate and the Taramind drink. If youre looking for excellent Mexican and Latin food, definitely come here.

First visit and loved it. I have been wanted to try this place for a long time and wish I had decided to do it before. Food was delicious, service is 5 and the place of full of charm! I highly recommend!

It is a very quiet place with a very Mexican flavor. If you are Mexican and looking to pamper your palate with the flavor of your country, this is the perfect place.

Sooooo goooood. I was expecting mostly mexican food, but true to the name fiesta latina, I was surprised to see colombian, venezuelan, and salvadoran plates. I ended up ordering three veggie tacos with a side of fried plantains and it was delicious! Best vegan/vegetarian tacos Ive ever had.

This place is adorable. We sat outside. The staff was very friendly and our food and drinks prompt. My wife had the margarita and I had a sip and it was tasty. The crispy chorizo tacos were delicious. The menu was needlessly large, I feel like they could pare it down, but that s just me being critical. I wanted to try this place for a while and I ll definitely be going back. The prices were reasonable and they had good specials too.

I never thought I would have a culture-gastronomic shock and now whenever I can I look for Salvadoran and/or Latin places, today I had the opportunity to visit La Fiesta Latina, I loved the concept , the space is cozy and colorful , the food It was delicious , I recommend it, the drink suggestion that Melani gave us was delicious , without neglecting the attention that was 1000 . Hey, you have to visit it! I leave you a photo of what we ate, everything was delicious Vegetarian options: Fried plantain, beans!

Very nice atmosphere if you dine inside or out in the new eating area outside. Weve done both take out and dine in and both times noticed it does take a little while to get orders out but they always offered it with a smile. As for the food. Id like to say better things about it. Ive had the softshell tacos multiple times and found the meat to be overcooked, tough and quite bland. My partner had the flautas which were supposed to be drizzled with sour cream and instead had feta cheese. They tasted ok but again a little bland. I didnt feel we got our moneys worth as it was about $51 after all said and done. Last time I ate in I had another meat based dish and again found the meat to be tough and bland. I will say their chips and salsa are solid! Lots of potential here though so maybe Ill give it a try in a year or so.

So I made mg order on the phone to pick up twice I said extra cilantro and lime , tacos had little to NO CILANTRO!!! Meat sucked no FLAVOUR AT ALL , I was wanting to go here for awhile , I can t say how disappointed I am . I will not be returning!!!

Its very difficult to find such great tacos in the city. We totally recommend it. Also the staff is suuuper friendly.

I truly loved this place. However, they ve screwed up our order the last 2 times and I m not sure I want to give them my business anymore. They have great dishes. Offer gluten free as well as vegetarian dishes. We order vegetarian items for our vegetarian and they have given us meat items 2x in a row when the item was supposed to be a veggie/cheese dish. (The one pictured is supposed to be cheese enchiladas, clearly not). Our other items were off as well this time stale chips and off-tasting empanadas. They also screwed up our tacos and gave us a type we didn t order however the person eating them was okay with it. It felt like we got whatever was left as opposed to what we ordered. Super disappointed, and as I said, I loved this place.

Lots of great options for everyone. They have a vegetarian section in their menu, but many of their other dishes can also be made vegetarian or vegan thanks to their amble vegetarian protein options. I really liked the enfrijoladas.

My wee family went for lunch yesterday after reading all the great reviews. Sadly 2 out of 3 of us were quite disappointed. I really wanted to like what I was eating, and perhaps I would have had it been served hot instead of lukewarm, and if I hadnt found hard crunchy bits of rice mixed in with the more edible bits, or if my beef taco had been shredded beef instead of ground beef which was so greasy it made me feel queasy. I couldnt eat it. The beef thing was my fault since I didnt ask about it, but rather made an assumption that it was not ground beef. Bottom line - it was mediocre in flavour, we, who had the tres taco plate were served room temperature food so I wasnt compelled to finish my cold beans or crunchy rice. One of chicken tacos was watery and cold and the other had potato mixed in which I wasnt expecting, and because I had given my beef taco to my partner, which left me with probably less than an ounce of protein my my plate, I ended up buying a sandwich in the mall an hour later because I was so freaking hungry. That was $77.00 for lunch for 3 that I actually regret. The woman who served us was lovely but she did not come by to check in with us about the meal. I doubt I would chance going there again.

While this place isn t the fanciest or biggest, it is still worth a detour as this is by far the best Mexican food in Ottawa. The tacos, aguas frescas and everything else is absolutely delicious!

Looking for authentic Mexican tacos I stumbled upon this place, amazing veg options like they have a separate menu for vegetarians; that s the only highlight. Food: Tacos were pretty bland for Mexican food I had to go through 2 cups of chilli salsa. Beverage: Margaritas were average, considering a Mexican restaurant. Service: was good for a cramped and small restaurant. Vegetarian options: A ton of options

Visited this Mexican restaurant with high hopes but was thoroughly disappointed with the food quality. We ordered a taco and nachos, and unfortunately, both fell short of expectations. The taco lacked flavor, and the nachos were soggy and bland. Its a shame because the staff were quite good friendly and attentive. They were the silver lining in an otherwise disappointing experience. Given the poor food but good service, I can only give this place 2 stars, and those stars go entirely to the staff for their effort

I went for dinner on Sunday. The food was delicious; I ordered a mole enchiladas and absolutely delightful. I also tried the Aztec soup, perfect for this weather. Also the waitress who served was very lovely I will definitely come back to this place.

The delicious food and the service were perfect, very friendly and attentive to ensure we were always taken care of. The drinks were delightful, and the atmosphere reminds you of Mexico, with good music. I will definitely return; its a safe bet .

Food was ok. The chicken tacos were fairly dry, the empanadas had thick dough. And lamb soup tho was quite good.

I got pork pupusa and it was excellent. Other persons at the table got the lamb tacos and they were also good. The drinks were the real highlight for me. The horchatta was a great experience and so was the mango nectar. Both were just amazingly fresh and tasted great. The service is great and friendly. Easy to reccomend for all occasions and if you have a family they have kid food.
