361 Elgin St, Ottawa, ON K2P 1M7, Canada
Relaxed storefront restaurant serving Mexican dishes in a warm, modest space with a patio.
We both loved the hot chocolate and the fajita nachos we both had from here. The chips with the nachos were softer, which was perfect for fajita nachos. The waiter was great and was always there, he was also very attentive. In the beginning we mentioned getting milkshakes after our dinner, and he made a comment at the end about Elgin streets ones. This place is kind of tucked away, and some parts of it don't appear to have windows, but I think that's fine personally.
Every year we visit Ottawa and make a point of visiting our favorite Mexican restaurant. Thank you to our server Paige for making our visit memorable. Once again, the Mole Enchiladas were fantastic. Combo platter for newbie to the restaurant, and he enjoyed it.
Having long been craving for Mexican cuisine in Ottawa and the service was great and attentive on a late Sunday night. The fried tortilla came in large portion with filling sides. Very satisfying!
Love this place. Second time here. My son had the nachos & we had chicken enchiladas. Great cocktails here. Dos Equis on tap. We sat on the bar side. Our server was patient & knowledgeable. We will be back.
A good stop amidst the buzz of the city. The food is great and so is the service. On a nice say, the terrace is lovely!
Our waitress was wonderful, she was very polite and kind. She listened empatheticly to our concerns regarding the flavorless "mexican" food. As someone who frequently dines at an authentic Mexican restaurant, Pancho Ville was very disappointing. I felt as though the menu was created without any knowledge of mexican flavors and cuisine.
Below average food and very rude service. Went there with some friends and the place was pretty empty. We didn't think much of it but by the end of the night, we could tell why. The server was very rude and kept trying to sell us the more expensive option. We ordered original lime margaritas, which were pungent green in color and essentially tasted like an artificially flavored sugary drink. We told the server and he got really defensive and brought the manager, who told us they only use real lime in the premium margarita, which was $5 more. This was unheard of since I've been to many Mexican restaurants and never had such an experience. The food wasn't bad but very basic and not authentic. If you want cheesy, mid flavor bar food, I guess this place works. Other than that, I wouldn't go again or recommend.
The food was good. Main dishes are big enough to share, but a little too big for one person. I would personally prefer somewhat less expensive and smaller plates; as the prices do tend to be a little on the expensive side. Service was very friendly and proactive. My only real critic would be the awful smell in the mens washroom.
This place has been around since the early 1980 s and has consistently delivered. Great price, friendly and very quick service, and it was the comfort food we were hoping for!
Casual and easy dinner option! I would sit on the bar side next time. Polite and fast service
Amazing food and service!
So good! Vegetarian options: Many Dietary restrictions: No gluten in some dishes Kid-friendliness: Yes of course!
Very bland and soggy food.
Great food for Mexican food lovers !!
Went for an early dinner. The food was good except for the rice which was a bit too dry and there was WAY too many onions that came with the fajitas. Other than that everything was great! Highly recommend the drinks
Delicious, great portions, I tried the chimichangas, were fantastic and my wife the mole enchiladas, totally recommend.
Service was great (free salsa and chips) and portions were nice but the food wasnt amazing.
Delicious, beautiful terrace, friendly service.
Borderline offensive how bad the food is. Paying 20$ for stiff and unseasoned meat feels like a scam.
Good portions! Great service
Food was incredibly bland, if youve had good Mexican food this place is such a phenomenal disappointment. No seasoning (cumin, cilantro, onion, lime and lemon, where are you?). Servers were polite and kind.
Just one word: Succulent. Too good. Good service. Definitely worth the detour for both the food and the drinks. And what about the employer service, 10/10
I went for dinner several times, the service is always friendly. the kitchen is very efficient and the food is good. the downside is that It takes a while to get our drinks most of the time. Overall its a nice place place to eat simple but good Mexican food.
Very happy we found this place last night. Our server was very nice and helpful. The food was great.
10/10: the best Mexican dishes in Ottawa-Gatineau! In addition to being well received, we were offered chips and homemade salsa. We sipped the best strawberry margarita, non-alcoholic and also delicious, and in less than 10 minutes the enchiladas were served on a piping hot plate. The chicken in the (2) enchiladas are nice big pieces of tender white chicken breast and topped with their succulent Mexican red sauce and cheese. Everything is accompanied by rice and a portion of crunchy salad with a delicious homemade vinaigrette. The waitress came by twice in an hour to make sure everything was to our liking. The cost of the dishes is very reasonable ($18 per plate). By far, the best Mexican restaurant in Ottawa-Gatineau and if the weather is nice, enjoy the magnificent terrace on this busy street like us.
Still as good, no change since covid.
Worst Fajita i have had in my whole life i got stomachache after i ate it + food take 25 minutes to make and it s not worth a penny, don t recommend
Its not fancy or perfect, but it is tasty, filling, and a good value for the price. Great patio in the summer time as well. Nice place to go with friends after work.
Food is amazing every time, no matter what you order!
I really like Pancho Villa, the staff has always been very nice and the portions are always great. The dinning room has an authentic warm vibe and to me the food reminds me of traditional mexican dishes.
Vegetarian options: Sufficient vegetarian options, ordered veg burritos with veg chilis. In hindsight, should have ordered regular veg burrito with vegetables and beans. Service was excellent, had a nice back table where we could sit and chat well after dinner was done. Food
Great mexican food. I have enjoyed this food for decades and it always impresses me. Food is real and well prepared Highly recommended Food : 5/5 |
The food is very delicious order the deli melted cheese
I have probably been there a thousand times and have never been disappointed. Service is excellent, and the food is consistently amazing.
My family and I have been going here for over 30 years. Excellent food and service every time.
Been going here for years. Cadillac Margs and a burrito every time. They never disappoint.
The newly renovated interior is clean and classy and the food and service was very good! It had been a while since I had been in, but I really enjoyed my lunch!
Greatest staff and the food are really great
Love Pancho Villa, a must try!
I ve been coming to this restaurant for many years. Thankfully, they survived the pandemic. The food and service continues to be excellent. Also, the complimentary nachos and dip is a wonderful way to start!
My wife and i just ate and while the service was great we both ended up feeling ill Tasted great. Didn t agree.
Great taste, friendly service and big portions!
Excellent service! Great atmosphere and amazing, fresh food. Staff is very polite and helpful, always promptly attending and answering any requests. Highly recommend the churros and the chimichanga! Delicious! Will return when in Ottawa again!
The best Mexican food in Ottawa
Ive been going to Pancho Villa for over 25 years. The food is consistently great. A big thanks to Roger for the consistently excellent service!
Best Mexican restaurant in town.
What a great time at Pancho Villa. U went with a couple of friends and the food was amazing! Friendly staff and really nice Mexican vibe. Well done.
Always Very good! Vegetarian options: we are vegetarian and the selection is very good! Recommended dishes Veggie Enchiladas, Chips and Salsa, Burrito, Margherita, Guacamole
It is one of the best value Mexican restaurants in Ottawa. The chicken is always fresh and not the reconstituted mush served in other restaurants. Great taste in all the dishes. Attentive servers and a location that takes you into the heart of the thriving Elgin community. Parking: Depends on what time you park on the streets. There is some off-street parking but can be busy in summer. We tend to use underground parking under the City of Ottawa building, but that may be a fair walk for some. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramps were available, and there was good space between tables.
I went here for a michelada. I didnt finish it. And I love drinking. They used some trash lemon juice and didnt even have the proper spices to make the drink. The drink was white washed. If you want authentican Mexican, look elsewhere please
Super
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Food is exceptionally good price very good and service impeccable.
Best Mexican food in Ottawa!
The server messed up my drink order then gave dirty looks when I told her and spent the rest of the time looking miserable. It was very uncomfortable. I got the enchiladas Verde and it was flavorless and the chicken was super dry. The strawberry marg was really good and the side salad. Otherwise I will not be going there again. There are much better Mexican restaurants in Ottawa. I tipped but only because of custom.
Very disappointing! Worst Mexican restaurant in Ottawa! Mountains of iceberg lettuce over everything, bland flavour, charged $1.75 for some pickled jalapeños. Over priced considering poor quality.
Completely bland and inauthentic - my chicken taco was unseasoned shredded chicken breast with ice berg lettuce and diced tomatoes in a hard tortilla. The Mexican rice is indistinguishable from the Uncle Ben s. Expected much more given the prices they charge.
Large portions, low prices, good food, good service. 100% recommend! Dietary restrictions: Wait staff and kitchen were able to appropriately handle my allergies without any issues. Food : 5/5 |
Very good vegetarian nachos! Medium prices, but the food is high-quality, and they have a lovely patio area just off Elgin. There is also a good number of vegetarian options.
When you go to a Mexican restaurant you look for the Mexican kick, and the Mexican atmosphere.. None of that was present. Food on the bland side but portions were generous de
Ive had zero luck in successfully making a reservation of late and it has resulted in takeout. Its a little annoying when I show up for my food and there are plenty of seats. The food was good but there were no chips that normally come with the meal or any hot sauce. So the experience for some of my friends were sub par. We had 8 orders and none had any labels... so it took a while to figure out what was what. All of which could have been avoidable with a sharpie and orders being placed together and not randomly among bags. I would definetly go in and eat, dont do the takeout because the food and experience does not leave a great experience.
Staff was welcoming and very attentive. I had the chicken Enchiladas, not the best I ve had, chicken was too chunky not shredded enough. Needs more spice. The Mexican rice and Salad was good. Also had to ask for the Salsa and Chips. My Margarita was very tasty.
Great food and friendly staff. We visited about 49 minutes before closing but they still welcomed us and were very friendly. Food is absolutely amazing here and highly recommend the mole sauce. 10/10 will stop by again and bring colleagues from out of town.
Best terrace in the Golden Triangle. The staff always friendly and acknowledge when you re a regular. Food is not great and ok for TexMex. Not Mexican but honestly, nothing is close to Mexican outside of Mexico. Their flautas are very simple but that might be the only authentic Mexican dish on the menu. Fajitas are nice too. But by all means, stay away from the queso fundido. Not sure what cheese they use but it is awful in all ways. It tastes like barf and left me with this nauseated feeling the rest of the evening. Please someone remove that dish from the menu or redefine your recipe for this awful melted barf. I can give you pointers.
Delicious meal and a great server, cant ask for more!
Lovely patio and delicious enchiladas and daiquiris. Patio is not wheelchair accessible and requires bringing strollers up a few steps. Staff is always fast and friendly.
For Mexican food, Pancho Villa is one of the best options in Ottawa. Had a great lunch there.
Great restaurant with a nice patio space if you dont mind the road noise. The service was great and the food was fantastic. Too bad they ran out of tamales, but the mole enchiladas were fantastic.
Holy this place is good. great portion, great drinks & awesome combo options that are really well priced. Chips & salsa taste homemade & so good. Get the mucho sized drink, you won t regret it. Vegetarian options: Tons of veggie options
I went a while back and not really Mexican. It is so expensive and the food is meh.
Great food. Great price point. Humble atmosphere.
This is Not authentic Mexican food. Also the chicken was unseasoned and cold, the rice tasted like it was reheated in the microwave. The beans are a cold and dry mush. The side salad is only lettuce and some shredded carrot. The only good thing here was the their spicy green chili sauce and it wasn t even spicy. Not worth it.
Great food and service. The fajita nachos were wonderful, the hot sauce was tasty rather than just hot for the sake of it.
The best!
Im sorry but this restaurant is a catfish. If you like unseasoned chicken, walmart hard taco shells, ground beef in packet taco sauce and lettuce for salad youve got it. This was whitewashed Mexican food. I recommend skipping this place and going somewhere with latin servers; chances are the cook is latin too.
Pancho Villa. I have been coming here on and off for decades. Their patio in the summer is beautiful and a fun place to share drinks and nachos. Their main dishes are great too. I am especially fond of the delicious chicken tostada (hot pulled chicken and refried beans base on a tortilla with a cool lettuce, tomato, cheese and ranch style dressing... really good contrast) and deep fried ice cream.
Starting with the positives, the drinks were good. My wife had a Sangria and it was tasty, the beer was cold and good too. Our appetizer was also good we had the queso fundido. However we re things fell apart was with our mains my wife had the tacos with salad, and I had the beef fajitas. Her tacos were okay, salad was good. My steak fajitas were not good. The beef was so over cooked it was like jerky, my wife tried it as she didn t believe it was that bad, her fork pulled through the meat before it broke at her teeth. It was very underwhelming and unpleasant. Don t know if we will be giving this place another try as spending $90 for a disappointing meal is not a mistake I d like to make twice, our server was friendly and nice but did not check in, or inquire even though the dissatisfaction with the food was very obvious.
We love this place; we go often. Their fajita nachos are amazing and their tamales (which they don t have all the time) are my favourite. Oh, and their mole sauce is to die for. In my opinion, best in the city.
The chicken inside my enchilada was unseasoned and white. Zero flavour. Just plain white chicken. Very very weird for a supposed authentic Mexican restaurant.
Very basic flavor food. I am pretty sure that whenever i order veg enchilladas, the plate is pre-made and they just heat it up. but overall its good valie for money, considering the location
I have only called to ask what time they close at but was met with a very rude employee. I had asked what time they close seeing as their website simply says 11:30 - close for everyday what the actual **** is that? That is someone who doesn t want to decide a closing time because they would like to decide when they feel like it. I did get the answer I was looking for.. somewhat. When I asked what time they close at I was told last call for food is at 10. When I had asked about last call for drinks I received the same answer but with attitude and sarcasm. Haven t been here yet but I think I ll stick with lone star based on that phone call. Wish I got the man s name I spoke with. Train your staff to be more polite Maybe you wouldn t lose sales.
The ambiance is nice and the patio is great. The food however was very disappointing. Every plate our party ordered felt very fast-foody. The rice tasted like microwaved Uncle Bens. The iceberg lettuce was overused. The chicken in the fajitas was just ok. Overall, nothing felt really authentic and was extremely average. Not sure if the cook was just feeling off that night.
Excellent food. Great margaritas.
This was actually so bad we had to leave. The service was nice, and so were the chips and salsa. But the mains are pretty bad. Good value, but its like somthing you would make in the microwave with and like no ingredients. Its just very bland. Sorry to say, the people were nice but the food was cold, bland, and clearly microwaved.
Love the good and Ive had really great service both times Ive been.
Amazing food, so accommodating and friendly for a solo traveller. Vegetarian options: Ample vegetarian options Food : 5/5 |
Best food and service hands down! Our Server Marie was a gem and made it a memorable experience.
Portions and service was good, but this is some of the most bland Mexican food Ive ever had.
Delicious food and friendly service. One of my favourite places in Ottawa!
Hadn t been for several year s and was super happy we returned. Service was excellent and the food was amazing! Had Chimichanga and WOW! Will be back for sure!!!
Very friendly service! Truly amazing Mexican food. We have been going to this restaurant from a while now and has never been disappointed. Plenty of options in food.
Love this place Amazing Mexican joint in the hearts of Downtown Ottawa, fairly priced with outdoor patio in Summer. Enchiladas are amazing, love the dipping salsa that they offer. Do try it out
Good food and good service
I tried the Vegetarian Nacho. Have to try the dish dine in, as the top was soggy. However, I took the crunchy nachos from the bottom and the soggy from the top made a sandwich which balanced the dish and man was it good, plus filling. My daughter had the Super Nacho She did the same and we both were satisfied. We assumed there would be salsa and sour cream with the order but there was none. The chips were homemade which very unique for us both.
Not Mexican at all. Disappointed. The food doesnt taste bad but its not typical Mexican at all.
Awsome Cadillac margaritas
Me and my family have been going here whole life!! !! Best staff best owners . Super friendly . Can t get better authentic Mexican food anywhere else.
Excellent food and service! Very friendly staff!
Went here Saturday night and it was really busy! Got to sit on their patio and people watch while enjoying my food. Got the chicken fajitas, taco, enchiladas. All tasted really good, their side hot sauce/chutney was flavorful for my Indian taste palette! I enjoyed their Pina colada on the rocks, Coco loco was good too. Ambience and service was on point. Will go there again and recommend anyone wanting to have good Mexican food with a good menu to go here!
Went in with fair expectations because I know even a decade ago, Pancho Villa was nowhere near authentic nor anything special but they did mediocre to decent Tex Mex and had beach drinks which will satisfy your need for mex influenced carbs on the patio. The best part about the experience was their server who was very resourceful and eager to accommodate. Unfortunately there is a complete lack of ambiance, from the moment I walked in I was accosted by a senior staff guy about my little soda can and told I couldn t be on the patio with it due to liquor license. Based on some other observations, this place is a serious stickler when it comes to things like that. You get the sense that they don t like certain people hanging out after they ve finished their food, I felt very rushed even though there were only a few other tables spaced out and it was a couple of hours before dinner service. No one was sitting inside of course. The resident bartender can t make a decent lime margarita and this was after I already sent back one of their gin cocktails that was recommended to me. After this experience, I really appreciated my favourite bartenders more and I have even more respect for their trade. You might have been making drinks at pancho villa for years but it tastes like very watered down lemon juice with a splash of bland flat spritzer. I don t know, it was just really disappointing and it made for an awkward experience because I profusely apologized to the bartender for sending the first cocktail back and he made a jokey comment that I d better like the lime margarita because he won t be doing any more re-dos. So when the simple mix was awful, I respectfully asked for a some bar lime. The server had already brought a small side of mango juice out for the original cocktail so then I tried to add a bit of that. Instead of being honest, I tried to gulp it down and look like I was enjoying it when the bartender would be nearby on the outside patio. I officially felt like a preteen at a sad birthday party I d been forced to go to where the parents only serve bland health food and hover over you like helicopters. Thankfully I didn t order any food as I know how risky it was to do that unless you enjoy unevenly cooked Mexican rice and partially reheated frozen-to-microwave chicken or beef enchiladas on a tacky plate resembling your great grandma s groovy 1960s dinnerware. Napkins always had to be requested despite it being a severely hot day. Mom and pop shops and small biz restaurants are pressured to cut costs somewhere so the stingy napkin thing isn t a deciding factor for patronizing or not patronizing this place. Although they do use paper towelettes in the bathroom I believe so not exactly economically or enviro-conscious in that area, are they. I never received a thank you or a welcoming smile from either of the senior male staff on duty and my server had to leave before I left so it was extremely dry and uninviting overall. They could be overworked, underpaid, tired, unhappy at their job, I realize the world doesn t revolve around the customer the way it once did but for heaven s sake, every single patron who chooses your business over all the others should be appreciated. We don t have much disposable income and to select your spot to unload a few bills is something to show gratitude for otherwise you ll quickly discover your restaurant can t hack it in today s post-pandemic competitive hospitality and prepared food market. Would not repeat business.
One of the best places in Ottawa
Great food, amazing patio and drinks, strong service. This is one place that hasn t lost a step since the Pandemic, which I cannot say for at least half the restaurants in Ottawa.
The service I received from the staff was excellent, but the food was not. It had no flavour, and it was cold as if it sat in the window too long before being served. The portion I had was small, considering the cost. The meal with a beverage amounted to $30+. I was expecting more for my money. I cannot recommend this establishment to friends or colleagues.
food is amazing but they take forever to serve you the food. we waited for 25 minutes to eat.
Amazing experience. Drinks are well designed with delicate twists to perfection
Just under 4 stars really. Simple restaurant that satisfies the need for a quick fix of tacos and burritos. Friendly staff and quick service.
Absolutely amazing mole. Im from out of town and make sure I go every time I am there.
Good testing fajitas! The rest of the food not much and expensive beverages especially the Bulldog margarita because they charge it as if you buy the margarita and the beer separately.
Thos place is a hidden jem, the enchiladas are great, the service was great!
We had a variety of burritos, tacos, garlic shrimp, and tostadas and everything was so delicious. Amazing flavour in each dish. If you like a bit of spice with your meal, ask for their homemade hot sauce, it was absolutely to die for, perfect match of spice and flavour. Their staff were polite, efficient, and great at what they do. My only wish was that their drink menu was more affordable. We were really craving margaritas with our meals but couldnt go for the $15 drink. Other than that, everything was amazing.
They have a nice sized patio and some very fun summer drinks. If asked they can provide vegan options by removing cheese from their vegetarian dishes and substituting their creamy salad dressing for an oil based one. They have a lot of great options, but I mainly love the rice and beans that come with all their main courses. Their refried beans are some of the best in the city! Vegetarian options: Basically every main dish has the option of beef, chicken, or vegetarian. The vegetarian option will usually include cheese, beans, and guacamole. Dietary restrictions: There are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
The burritos themselves were fine. But the refried beans were tasteless .
Honestly not really one to complain but I was really disappointed. Went here with my boyfriend expecting some authentic mexican food but what we got was a hot plate of microwaved cold rice dry chicken with no flavour and an expensive bill. Save your money and go to lone star, mexis or guac anywhere but here.
Been there several times now with my partner, we love it and its our go-to capstone meal when we spend a week in Ottawa. The restaurant is atmospheric and spacious, the food is delicious, and the service is always excellent. They also have several non-alcholic mocktail type drinks which my partner and I love, neither of us drink and its not always the case that we can feel included when our friends drink as places dont always have these options.
I really like the food here. As far as i know its super authentic (im very white). Delicious refried bean and such. They also have a beautiful patio although i always get take-away. Vegetarian options: They have a good few dishes that the main protein is just beans (but delicious).
Nice patio. Okay service. Terrible food & drinks. Nachos were disgusting. For a Mexican place - it had bland cheese, and weird red sauce (not salsa or salsa verde or anything resembling salsa) and that was it. It was flowing over the pan. The margaritas were also bland (frozen not shaken) Go elsewhere - there are a ton of nice patios with way better food & drinks.
Actually I haven t the chance to try the food. This is because the manager (owner, whatever ) didn t allow me to enter. I did arrive 9:36pm and this sir (it was extremely rude) stopped at the door said the kitchen closes at 10pm and stayed looking at me like no service for you . So this was my experience at this place!
Great spot if : 1. You don t have teeth, and don t need to chew your food. 2. Don t like tasting your food 3. Enjoy lots of alcohol in tasteless drinks. 4. Like to get stabbed by loose metal shanks on the wall, on your way out. The tacos fall apart because they can t be bothered to strain anything. The burritos are filled with mush and 1-2 pieces of what I was told was pulled beef but ended up being steak cut to 3/4 (not very big). The rice is tasteless and overcooked. The salad was not that bad but very watery. If your lucky enough to order the combo you get to enjoy it all as a soup which is a huge plus at the age of 90+ unfortunately I m not that old (yet). Taste buds of an average dude in early 40 s, non smoker. I will be returning when I m committed to a retirement residence because well, I won t need to chew, taste, or generally enjoy my meal at that time, but right now I like to have some texture/flavour to my pallet/meals. Thanks for showing me what retirement residence meals looks/tastes like
SO GOOD FOR THE PRICE!!!! And the food came so fast!!
Awesome restaurant Thank you
much delicious :) the much larger drinkos were awesome-o.
Great daiquiris, mole sauce is a treat. I recommend the hot sauce. All food was good
Very tasty food, great service. Outside patio very nice.
Excellent service from Marie who speaks English and French easily. Very warm welcome and excellent meal. I would return without hesitation.
Came because of the deep fried ice cream and they didnt disappoint. Loved the burritos and chicken. Prices are very reasonable and staff friendly.
Dont order the taco salad. Trust me.
Service was great and the patio was pleasant. Our server was very helpful. The umbrellas provided lots of shade even though it was a hot and sunny day. Food prices were reasonable, but otherwise it was thoroughly underwhelming. The flavours were bland, the salad was served on a heated plate and was warm, and the tostada was basically a huge iceberg salad on a soggy tortilla. The rice on the side was also lacking flavour. There were also chunks of lettuce that were inedible on the plate. Overall, the patio was nice, but the food was disappointing.
Their spicy was mild. Food is fine, not great. Almost tastes chain like.
Delicious food and quick service. The veggie enchiladas and the carne salteada are amazing! I really liked the piña colada as well!
Great location on Elgin. The restaurant has a cool patio seating along Elgin St. shaded by trees. Tried the guacamole with tortilla chips, which was fresh and excellent, with some refreshingly cool beer and cider on a hot summer afternoon. Also had the chicken enchiladas which was bland and not up to the mark
Went to this place with our friends and liked the food. Nachos and quesadilla was good. Interiors were good.
Came here to try out the Vegetarian Nachos. Overall, pretty tasty! Was a little disappointed with the serving size, however for $13 I guess you can t complain. Our server was Roger - he was great! Very friendly and made our stay memorable. Thank you Roger!!
Delicious Mexican food, flavourful and comfort at the same time.
Been going here for over 30 years. My favorite restaurant in Ottawa Recommended dishes
Service was fast and food was very good. Prices were reasonable as well.
Excellent Mexican cuisine on Elgin. Plenty of nice patio seating. Favourite is: Burrito and Fajitas.
Nice little place, great food and great service!
Actually we should rate 4.5. 1 meal (fajitas) was great and big. 1 meal not seasoned enough and small (Mexican pizza). The ambience inside can still be improved. The service was attentive, quick and friendly.
Service was great, staff were kind and attentive. Tacos were the worst Ive ever had.
Excellent mexican restaurant. Great service. Good food. Loved it.
All around great typcal mexican dinner.
My friends and I walked on this street and I randomly pointed this cute Mexican restaurant. We ordered Mole Enchiladas, Mexican Pizza and Churro. They are both very good. I especially love Mole Enchiladas! We ll come back here again for sure.
One of the best authentic Mexican eats in town. Pancho special with salsa Verde is our favourite, but there are lots of mexican food to chose from
Most excellent of places! Went on a warm September afternoon! The outdoor seating was comfortable and charming. Lots of space available and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Had the fajitas that were excellent! The steak came out sizzling and cooked just right on a bed of onions! Wife had a burrito that was full and savoury.
Whilst the food (generous) and the service were just right, being the only customers (due to the lateness of our attendance, perhaps) made the atmosphere somewhat challenging and the decor needs improvement.
Food was good. Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean.
The food taste and quality was poor. I had the seafood enchiladas. The shrimps were less than an inch long and so over cooked the texture was like chicken, the tortilla fell apart like it was a crepe - very strange and the tomato sauce tasted like pasta sauce. The rice was bland. And to top it off the table felt sticky. Can t believe the ratings on line.
Authentic, delicious, great value, and awesome staff. Please go here if youre craving is crazy good food.
Me and my father came to eat here before going to a show at the NAC. With two large plates and two beers, along with tax and 20% tip, the bill came to $73. I have come here a few times and have had a good time during each visit. The atmosphere is quite relaxed, while I enjoy the food. Vegetarian options: You can ask for their combo plates to be vegetarian, which is what I normally do.
Staff was friendly and service was good. Nice location; especially the terrace. We had margaritas, daiquiris, tacos, guacamole and chips. The basics. Unfortunately, the food quality was very average for a specialized Mexican restaurant. The drinks were a bit watery and both the guacamole, taco and chips were fairly bland and lacked seasoning. Timing may have been off as our visit was just after reopening from COVID while everyone is short staffed but disappointing nonetheless.
Excellent food!
Friendly, responsive service, great menu (loved the avocado, shrimp, and crab salad). Street parking nearby but watch the time: I got a $40 ticket because I missed the deadline by 20 min.
Patio location was good. Tried burrito it was OK. The tortilla used was chewy.
Is verry good
My couple and I were very excited to eat Mexican food, but OMG tastes like nothing Camarones al ajillo has no color and flavor, rice with ketchup sorry guys this doesnt represent how amazing Mexican food is. Margarita with a strange green color and too much ice I couldnt even feel the taste of tequila. The meet wasnt good either not juicy. Anyways the manager said that their recipe was good for I dont know how many years that the restaurant is open. Lady please get a trip to Mexico or hire a Mexican chef, your restaurant desperately needs it!!! The staff was amazing. Good attention. Very disappointed
The drinks were delicious. They have a great mezcal list. The serves are friendly. However, the food was surprisingly bland
The portion size is just right and it s delicious. The server was also friendly.
Good food
Excellent service, pleasant place, in a busy area with easy access. The flavor is good, but it is not MEXICAN - as they offer and we expected.
Our goto lunch spot when in downtown Ottawa...cant be beat!!
First of all, the service was great, so no complaints there. The terrace was cute, too. The food and drink were very disappointing. I ordered the Sombrero cocktail, a chicken taco, and the Avocado Princesa (because I was craving crab salad.) The drink was very bland, and almost tasted like a rubber tire but watered down. I would work on that recipe or reduce the price. For $15 one can get a really great cocktail, especially on Elgin, so I couldnt help but feel ripped off. The taco was really not good. Chicken boiled in something tomato-y, slopped (with too much of the juice) onto a tortilla, garnished with some bland lettuce. It was actually difficult to eat because of how soggy and bland it was. With every bite, a bunch of liquid spilled onto my plate. Not to be rude, but it was gross and I did mention it to the server, to let the kitchen know. As someone who loves to cook, I never would send out food like that. It made me regret not just going to El Camino across the street for a quality taco. For my main course I ordered the Avocado Princesa. It was basically an avocado cut in half, stuffed with what tasted like thousand islands dressing mixed with some defrosted little shrimp and celery. It was very bland and almost kind of sweet, which grossed me out. It came on top of a bowl of lettuce, with some shaved carrots and peppers and hardly any dressing. I ate some, but gave up quickly. This is just an honest review, and is not intended to throw this place under the bus. I ate here once before, a few years ago, with someone who was a regular and whatever he ordered for us that time (I wish I remembered) was very delicious and filling, so I think I just ordered the wrong thing. I probably wont be back, but I wouldnt say NEVER...just, I would never order the same things!
Very bad service , food and drink quality bad.
Went Saturday night, group of 9 adults. Service was friendly , super informative. Atmosphere was wonderful with a great feel. Mexican music was wonderful. Food was 100%. We ordered many appetizers and main courses every plate was enjoyed by us all. Definitely recommend!!
Its closed.
We are here visiting Ottawa and were walking by and decided to give Pancho Villa a try. So very glad we did. Our waitress was delightful. The food was excellent and all made from scratch. We sat outside and the table was clean. This would be our favourite place if we lived here! Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Had my first Mole here, it was delicious. Waitress was very friendly.
Favorite place for a good quality meal at reasonable prices. Combination plate is personal favorite
All food is made in house and is always delicious, you cant go wrong with this place. DO NOT miss the hot sauce, it is fantastic
Although it has a Mexican name it is far from authentic Mexican food. I was expecting something closer to what you taste in Cancun but I got something anglosaxon.
5 stars. Great food at a great price and to top it all off great service.
If I could give zero stars I would....I had the worst experience today just because I politely returned a dish that I ordered which I know (being mexican) that doesnt have cumin and which ended up being unbearable to me (they donteven display the spices in the menu), I let the waitress know about this and she didnt even took the plate away which was making me feel nauseous just from the smell of it. It took her like 10 minutes to go back with the mamager that was extremely rude and had the worst attitude Ive encountered in my whole life!!! I ended up not eating at all cause she told me with the worst attitude well everything on our menu has cumin so... , my friends paid and we left to Zaks where I ended up having a wonderful meal with a waitress that was lovely. If youre looking for Mexican food avoid this place and youre better off going to Monas Taqueria or Margaritas in the Glebe they have amazing customer service. Ps, I tried to tag them on IG but theyve the Mention option blocked so Im guessing Im not the first or last one to experience this...
Excellent service, good price and quality dishes. I recommend!
The service is super fast, they give some free nachos with salsa, however, even though the portions are substantial and the service is pretty good, staff is friendly; I could not taste much original Mexican seasoning. The beans (which were an important part of the dish I ordered) had a spice I could not identify. The sangria with white wine is quite good.
Not real Mexican food at all. None of it is authentic and does not taste fresh Salad tasted like they opened a grocery store bag and dumped it on top of my food. Will not return.
