Mati in Ottawa

Went for dinner at Mati last week. Service was great. Cocktails were excellent. Very good variety. Hot seafood was well prepared. We shared a Porterhouse steak. The steak was very tender, well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. However, we were disappointed that the meat was cold.

Literally the worst restaurant I ve been to in Ottawa. Definitely wouldn t say high class . I had my birthday here a couple years ago and the food was TERRIBLE. Everyone s steaks were cold, over cooked/under cooked. A couple years later, I decided to go back for dinner with a friend. We ordered our appetizers and it was all right maybe a 4 out of 10. When it came to ordering our mains, I wanted to order the steak, the waitress literally told me that they don t have enough time to make it Because we re only allowed to be seated at the table for two hours and she didn t think that would give me enough time to eat it. Then I decided on the fish. She said well the fish takes about the same amount of time as the steak does to cook. I don t think you ll have time to eat that either. I ended up going With the pasta I didn t want and didn t like. I would never in a million years recommend this place to anyone with the quality and service of the food.

Cool upscale space, several business lunches underway, attentive service, above average seafood, nice portions.

We arrived without a reservation and were seated at a table and given an hour. This was perfect for us, having come from another place beforehand. The service was attentive, warm and helpful. I ordered a cocktail and my friend ordered a mocktail. She found hers too sweet but my cocktail was perfect. I also ordered the s more dessert which was too much for one person. I would definitely go back and try the other items on the menu.

Came here for a celebratory dinner and had a couple cocktails, the ribeye steak, and the roasted broccoli. The cocktails were excellent and the attention to detail on them and the presentation were top-notch. The steak was prepared perfectly and was so juicy and tender, its probably one of the best steaks Ive had. The broccoli was also excellent with great flavours and sauce to really pull everything together. The service was great, and the atmosphere and energy were also appreciated. Overall an excellent spot for a special occasion.

Absolutely disgusted with this place. Im usually not someone who likes to leave bad reviews but they ruined my dinner twice so they leave me with no choice. In 2023, I took my parents here who are from out of town. I heard many good things about this restaurant so I was very excited to take them there. When we got there, they told me that I cancelled my reservation just 40 minutes ago and looked at me like I was some delusional person showing up after cancelling the reservation. My parents drove 6 hours to visit me. Why in the world would I waste our time like that? Clearly, someone screwed up the booking and cancelled my reservation by mistake. At least be a professional and own it instead of blaming it on somebody else. In 2024, I decided to give it another chance because I am a very forgiving person. Everybody makes a mistake, right? My gf and I got there on a Sunday night and the place was fairly empty. We thought we were going to enjoy a quiet date except there were employees of the restaurant sitting two tables beside us being obnoxiously loud. I guess it was after their shift or their off day? Try enjoying a $150 steak while someone is swearing out loud beside you. Completely killed the vibe. It has to make you question the overall management of this restaurant if they let their staff behave like that. Food was okay. Server seemed a little ticked off when we didnt like the wine so 1 star there too. I definitely think there are many options in Ottawa at the same price range for far better food and service.

I m afraid we were let down by our dinner. Service was ok but, not attentive. Atmosphere was good and the interior is beautifully done. Oysters were good but, no better than other restaurants, The Japanese wagu that was ordered had sinew in it when brought up to the waitress, not much response. The side of fingerlings was super salted almost uneatable. Spicy vodka pomodoro rigatoni was good but, nothing special.The lobster tails were well done. I don t mind paying a lot for a good meal but, the price was not worth the experience. Mark up on alcohol was very high higher than most.

Loved it. However 4 stars on service as the server forgot items and had to be reminded.

2 things that I didnt like at all was: 1) Their card machines first reccomended tip% was 20%. Any place that does this immediately no longer interests me. 2) One of their dessert option is from Stella Luna. I suppose this business supports the same values, which I do not. Food overall was good but nothing mindblowing.

Argentinian steak was overcooked for a medium rare, served cold and was too chewy. I cook striploin cuts better on a grill myself so that was disappointing. I have tried a few of the starters though and liked all of them.

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. I was expecting more of a romantic setting. It was a very small place, tables close together and very very loud (we were barely able to hear each another). So more of a drink with friends vibe. The service started fine but then it took more than an hour and a half for us to get our food (chicken and steak). You would probably be better off ordering seafood because for a $48 chicken and $72 steak, these were not the best quality. Chicken was bland and boring, could have made it at home. Steak was tough.. not to mention it taking 90+ minutes to arrive. Waitress checked up on us like once and didn t even know what we ordered. All around disappointing experience and for the price they ve set, was expecting much better.

Atmosphere, service, and lets not forget about the food - it is all absolutely perfect. Whether its for a special occasion or a casual night out, Mati never fails to impress. The Seafood Tower is delicious and highly recommended. It has a mix of hot and cold dishes and is a must have whenever going to Mati. Having tasted nearly everything on the menu, I can confidently say that no matter what you order from their menu, youre sure to enjoy it! The service at Mati is always outstanding as well, its evident that they genuinely care and want everyone to have an incredible dining experience. Mati is a place you ll love to go to. The atmosphere, the food, the cocktails, and the exceptional service all contribute to an unforgettable experience.

My future in-laws came down from California for my sisters wedding and I wanted to take them to a nice restaurant. I figured Mati would be the perfect place. That was an understatement! Elias and his wife turned our dinner into a very special evening. The food was wonderful and the vibe was great! They surprised us with a few rounds of drinks and desserts. These people are very kind, thoughtful and more importantly genuine! I will be definitely be going more often!

Had a really enjoyable evening here with my husband celebrating a belated birthday and anniversary. Our waitress (Trisha, I think!) was lovely and all the food was excellent.

Best time ever

We went to Mati Ottawa last night to celebrate my wife s birthday and it was terrific from start to finish. Our server Trish provide provided exceptional and attentive service that did not go unnoticed. The food which include a delightful seafood tower to share was delicious and our steaks with sides of fried brussel sprouts and duck fat shoestring fries were to die for. My wife was also given a piece of birthday cake, we really appreciated it.

Atmosphere, service and food were top notch!

Everything we ordered was delicious! Rack of lamb with a side of King oyster mushrooms, burrata cheese , yellow fin tuna tartare were all well seasons and flavourful! Would go back again!

Super overpriced, low quality. Order the Wagyu burger, enjoy hamburger meat, but get ready to pay $40 per burger. Which is trash, don t believe me .go try for yourself!! Don t believe the hype .this place is terrible!!!!

Food was not what I expected. We ordered multiple starters and we started with 2 plates to share, then we added two more. The Arancini we spicy, not particularly tasty, nothing impressive. The Gnocchi were really not great, Im a fan of gnocchi and there is in my opinion nothing great about that plate. The Lobster tacos were great, crunchy and very tasty. And the Spicy roll was good but they didnt serve a sushis roll with chopsticks??? Never seen that iny entire life ! Seriously? Are you supposed to ask for chopsticks with sushis is it an option? Service was mediocre. Having to wait to order wine because all the staff was at the end of the bar talking to each other while waiting for their plates to be ready. It was inconvenient. We tried to signal them we wanted to order... Honestly the restaurant was empty and there was way too much staff. And no service like this. Hum... And the red wine way too warm the issue with their fridge that has been disconnected... Shouldnt be my problem and cause me to have my wine to warm. Not my best experience for the bill.

Had a great night at Matis. Food was very delicious and the staff were great. Not cheap but worth experiencing with some one special.

Really fun restaurant with a great tomahawk! Gnocchi was also awesome! Reasonably priced and good service.

Had a dinner with friend visiting from outside. Chose Mati to have a great experience. First réservation was not captured so we sat to have dinner at the bar, no biggie. Then we had our dinner and I enjoyed mine throughly, was delicious seafood past. When I got the bill, It didn t show me an option for tip to is coats how much I wanted to pay. It was two buttons, 20% or 22%. Frankly service didn t deserve a 20% but hated how they didn t give you other options. Few hours later i got very sick and had a poisoning episode. So not only did i pay an excessive premium for dinner and service, but also for bad ingredients. Never returning yes great atmosphere but surely overpriced and not hygenic.

This was place is 6/5. Beautiful restaurant. Amazing servers. The food is a culinary delight. They made the birthday we were celebrating feel really special. I cant recommend it enough for a nice dinner out or a special occasion. What an oasis away from everything. ESPECIALLY if you like seafood.

The chicken was great but the seafood pasta was out of this world. The lobster cream sauce is the best Ive ever had.

The food & service were amazing! Sadly, the music was so loud that we couldnt carry on a conversation at our table without yelling. We asked multiple times to have it turned down, to no avail. Also, the lights were flickering over our table for most of the evening. It felt like they were trying to create a nightclub rather than a fine restaurant.

I went to Mati for Brunch. The food was great and the kitchen was very efficient. You can tell that the Chef and his team know what theyre doing. On the other side the hostess and the staff were not really welcoming on your way in and out . The service was slow and average.

We ordered the double seafood tower (raw & cooked) and their wagyu burger. Scallops= buttery melts in your mouth goodness, our favorite part of the tower. 2nd best was the super fresh tuna then the oysters that come with 2 nice tangy sauces. Shrimps were nice, not overcooked/chewy. The lobster tail was decent, nothing special. We found the sushi rolls + lobster tacos to be a miss unfortunately, like they re levels below the rest of the stuff on the tower. The wagyu burger on the other hand tasted like a Big Mac, no offence to the chefs that put it together but it was extremely underwhelming alongside the duck-fat fries that come with it. Their patio area were we sat was nice and comfortable and our servers + host were all lovely nice people.

We had early reservations at the bar. The service was great. The food was delicious, made with fresh ingredients full of flavor. The bar tender (Jeremy) was very knowledgeable in what to drink and eat! Our first time here...definitely not our last!

I went here for brunch. Very average stuff for the price. We got a variety of plates, but everything fell flat. I was disappointed. Nothing stood out as being original or having dept in flavour. There are way better places for brunch in Ottawa. I m not really sure why it s so busy here.

Went for Sunday brunch with friends. Had great food and service. The place was well decorated. We had lobster grilled cheese and fresh baked croissants, Blackstone Bennies, Frenchtoast, Shakshuka, and Mati classic. Coffee was also good.

My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary here. I can not recommend Mati more - some of the best food we ve experienced in Ottawa so far, and kind service staff. The pan seared scallops are a must try!

Ive been to Mati on two occaisions, and can say confidently that it is the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food is cooked to perfection; the drinks are inventive and tasty; the service is nothing short of wonderful. It is pricey but in my opinion it is worth the cost. Highly recommend!

Excellent food, but very expensive. By 8pm, it was so loud in there that we could barely hear ourselves. I guess that means that the booze was kicking in for everyone, but my ears were hurting. Service was also top notch.

Have been to Mati a few times before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Decided to go for a walk last night with my wife and stop in for a glass of wine and a small bite to eat. We requested to sit at the bar and after maybe 10 minutes, was eventually greeted by the bartender named Terry. Seemed to immediately judge us on how much we could/should spend on a bottle of wine and proceeded to virtually ignore us as we attempted to flag him down numerous times to order some snacks and finally request our bill. He seemed to want to spend more time flirting with the waitresses than attend to us. We finally paid our bill, however the walk home was spent complaining about the horrible service instead of the great night as we were hoping.

Very beautiful restaurant, very pleasant and chic, I loved my time at Mati. If you think you have ever eaten a very tender steak in your life let me tell you that this is not the case because it is at Mati that everything happens. Come to them if you are ready to spend :)

Went there to celebrate my son s birthday. It was lovely and they even made us a card and gave us a slice of cheesecake with a sparkler on top! The tomahawk steak was perfectly done and ample for the 3 of us.

Great but not quite worth the prices.

The food was excellent. We had the tomahawk (which was cooked perfectly), the duck fat fries, potatoes and mushrooms. For dessert we had the cheesecake which was alright. Our server was very attentive and checked on us often. My only feedback would be that the tables have a granite like top which was causing the plates to slip a fair bit when cutting our steak. Maybe some mats would help.

Food and service were excellent. My main comment is that it desperately needs sound proofing. It was so loud. Music was also too loud and reverberating off the hard surfaces. It was like eating dinner in a nightclub. Also the chairs were too big for the space and make tables crammed and very close together.

Unexpectedly ended up dining at this restaurant tonight and went in not knowing what was even on the menu, but once we sat down we realized everything looked great. We tried multiple dishes and shared everything amongst the four of us and everything was delicious. Top notch food. Service was initially very attentive although the kitchen was a bit slow for receiving the food. Then we ordered a second round and ended up waiting nearly an hour before we had to get up and flag someone down to inquire about our order. Aside from that extra long wait, overall service was also wonderful. We got to sit in the newer speak easy section and quite enjoyed the ambiance as well. Ill definitely have to plan a return trip to this place!

Very pretentious. Very pricey. Food quality meh. I think we paid for the quality of the cutlery, because both the prosciutto bennie and the tomato bennie were not flavorful. No flair or pizzazz for the price.

My friend and I shared the Seafood Tower. Its a great deal. You get both warm and cold seafood :) It does take a while to get a beverage order since they are so busy.

Absolutely amazing restaurant with amazing staff and food. I had the pleasure of working with Trew, who was able accommodate my special requests as I was bringing my partner here to propose. Through email and phone correspondence she helped me to plan the perfect evening. The food was delicious and as someone who doesnt drink, I really appreciated the efforts that obviously went into creating some amazing mocktails.

The food was spectacular but for such a high price point, we were really disappointed by the ambiance. We were cramped into a tiny corner of the restaurant where we were essentially seated at a table with 2 other groups. Getting in and out was next to impossible. The noise/music level at dinner time was also intolerable. For reference, our group were all in our late 20s but we could not speak to each other what so ever over the circulating noise level- we all left with a massive headache and the feeling that no one could talk to one another. It truly was like trying to eat a fancy dinner in the middle of a nightclub. Really unfortunate since the food is amazing but we won t be coming back.

Very loud music, waited for our pasta and chicken for almost 2 hours

Ive been to Mati a few times now and every time it is as if I am a regular. The service is great, atmosphere is amazing for intimate dining or for a group party. The food has to be in the top 3 restaurants in the city. Highly recommend and cannot wait to go back.

I visited Mati this past weekend, the food was phenomenal (we had the seafood tower). The owner and staff as a whole went above and beyond to ensure our experience was great.

Average food for above average price. We has the tuna crudo and the scallops for starters, the scallops were done well but the tuna cubes werent properly cut and I was chewing on a lot of gristle, but flavour was good. The main was somewhat disappointing though, we had the seafood pasta, which had far too much cream and the pasta itself was overcooked. I was also a bit confused by all the cheese covering the pasta, traditionally a seafood pasta wouldnt come with cheese. Overall it just felt like a pasta youd get at Olive Garden but the restaurant is trying to pass off as fine dining. It wasnt bad, it just wasnt fine dining. Dessert was good.

Two stars one for the steak, and the other for the server who was doing her best. We came here for Valentines dinner. They were serving a set menu and the dishes were pretty basic (steak, chicken, creme brûlée). Service was a mess. The spacing between dishes was very long, it took 2 hours for 2 dishes to come, and we saw people beside us being served before us even though we ordered first. We had: Seafood Platter: This was pretty skimpy. The only element I liked were the tacos, and we found it odd that they served 5 pieces of sushi to share between 2 people. Ravioli: This was nothing special. Too much garlic. Steak: The steak was cooked perfectly, very tender and served at the right temperature. The fries were horrible. Inconsistent texture, some chewy and others crisp like a chip. Creme Brûlée: Tasted good but would have preferred a more shallow dish as there was too much cream compared to sugar. We expected more from the service and food given the price. Wouldn t return.

It s a cramped little space charging the price of a fine dining restaurant with a pub like ambience. Food was mediocre and cold. The menu is severely limited in options. The risotto that came with the swordfish was super salty. Go some place else. You ll get 10x better value for your money. Don t recommend.

Good place for Sunday brunch.

Food was excellent. But the layout and ambiance really was lacking for the price point of the restaurant. Our table was very small and close to our Neighbor that we could have been seated together. And on the other side was walking for everyone coming in and servers passing by. Even though we had made reservations for a birthday. It didn t feel intimate. The service was good and like I said, food was excellent but would probably not return. Parking: Parked at a lot a few streets over

Tried the Kobe A5 Waygu steak. Didnt disappoint. The drinks felt stronger than they should have been, could be a good thing depending how you look at it. Parking: There is a small parking lot at the back. Not sure if its only for staff but I parked there.

One of my favourite spots in Ottawa. I tell myself each time I go that I will not order the seafood tower again and try something else. But I fail each time as that seafood tower is delicious! My only feedback would be to expand the beer selection. I would love to see Sapporo on tap as an example. Will return and hopefully next time I ll muster up the courage to try something else on the menu.

I am not even sure where to start. From beginning to end our night out at Mati was wonderful. My partner and I sat at the bar and were well taken care of. The bar staff were absolutely fantastic and engaging. We ordered the Tomahawk and it nothing short of amazing, tender, flavourful and presented beautifully. The combination of delicious food and fantastic service is what makes us want to return.

Food was delicious and our server was great. The ambience was severely lacking for a fine dining experience. Table felt like we were in the middle of a walkway and very close to the one beside us. It s such a let down, No candle or anything on the table to set the mood for a special occasion. While I enjoyed my steak and lobster tacos I don t think we will be back. At that price point it needs to feel more upscale all around.

We got fooled by the good reviews. Our server was very nice but the minute we entered, the lay out of the restaurant is awkward and not a pleasant space to be in, which seems to slow down the service...definitely not feng shui! The food is overpriced. We ordered a dish with sea food that was hard like a rubber toy with pasta and the mussels that were cold! No need to say that we hate only part of it just because we were really hungry.The server felt bad and reduced the price but with tip we still had a 200$ bill for two non edible plates and one hamburger with fries...no alcohol! Not planning to go back.

What do I like about this restaurant? EVERYTHING! Someone recommended it to us and said try out the seafood tower. Great recommendation (if you love seafood) with so much variety. It was quality, fresh and perfectly prepared. They also have excellent steaks and I indulged in the fries cooked in duck fat (yum!) Wine pairings were on point, service was superb. In the summer they have patio (outdoor) tables which you cant reserve but are available on a first come first serve basis. They also have dining tables and bar seating if you prefer. My new favourite for sure! Parking: Nearby paid parking (typical of Preston Street area) is easy to find. Wheelchair accessibility: Level entrance is accessible but double doors might require help. Some tables at an elevated level (2 steps) so request a table near the front if youre using a wheelchair.

Love going here for brunch, especially if you like brunch foods with a twist! Some amazing flavours too. Cocktails are always delicious here too.

Quite possibly the most toxic place Ive ever had the displeasure of being in. The front of house staff are ignorant rude and full of themselves, the back of house are full of betas that bend their knee to the woke abundant left. Also this place is one of Justin Trudeaus favorite places to wine and dine on taxpayers dollars. Not only does the back of house eat off the customers plates before they go out but the front of house will trash talk customers behind their backs and complain they arent getting tipped enough. Avoid this place like the black plague.

You could not pay me to go to this place again. This placed sucked for the price. I got the rack of lamb it had barely any flavour and the steak I got was pretty bad also. Overall theres a lot better places that are a lot cheaper.

This place is so great! Food was truly amazing. The lobster linguine was delicious, the swordfish was grilled to perfection, and the basil risotto was amazing. Music was a tad louder than Id like and service was a bit on the slower side but friendly. Decor is beautiful and chic. Would definitely return

The place looks sharp and that builds an expectation about the service and the food. There were four of us and none of us got the point of our eggs right, even though the server checked with us twice when ordering. Personally, I ordered the Steak and Egg, but I d say 1/3 of the steak was sheer fat, that I didn t even eat. Not a bad place at all, just don t think the prices correlate with the food.

Drinks were great and the staff was so friendly. The bartender especially was an amazing host, turned a regular night gets drinks into something really special.

This is my favorite restaurant in Ottawa. The seafood tower is something special and everything on it is delicious.

Quick stop, great ambiance. I enjoyed the simple menu and fresh tastes. Lobster tacos were really good. Drinks are tasty as well. Would return.

I love the food and atmosphere here

Service of drinks could be quicker, waited 10min for a canned beer to be poured into a glass. I would hold back from ordering the sea food platter, the oysters have no taste. All in all 4/5 in my books.

The seafood tower was amazing. My only reason for removing a star is the vibe & music was so club-like and not our jam for a wedding anniversary dinner. Our reservation was for 8:30pm, so I imagine an earlier dinner might be more chill and we could talk and hear each other more easily. We moved to the patio, but even there, folks were pretty rowdy. Still, 10/10 food and great service.

The food, service and staff were all amazing. They put in a lot of effort to make sure our birthday celebration was perfect. I always enjoy coming here.

I was excited to go to this restaurant last friday. The food looked amazing on the website and i couldnt wait to try it. Unfortunately despite a pricey bill, there were a lot of flies in the restaurant and the food made me sick the same night. I like the atmosphere and the service was fine.

We had a great time celebrating my moms birthday. Everyone thinks the service was fantastic, both friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. Good Atmosphere, even my toddler was happy to be around. I feel the music could be a tiny bit quieter. Mati will be on top of mind from now on.

It s a crowded and poorly executed floor plan on the lower level. Three tables crammed together in front of a patio door where servers and customers are coming in and out. It was a very cold dinner experience to say the least. Thankfully our server was kind and accommodating throughout service despite having a busy section. Food was incredible. Our server and the quality of food was what saved our dinner experience. We hope to return to Mati again for a better experience nonetheless.

This was the first restaurant we went to after arriving in ottawa. Everything was to the point, with the exception of the horse raddish which they dilligently resolved. The meat and charcoal grill are killer. The oysters too were well worth it. I recommend this place.

Went there last night to celebrate my birthday. Was greeted warmly upon arrival and enjoyed the ambiance of their patio. We ordered oysters and they were delicious, the horseradish was shaved fresh but had zero flavour. Our lovely server fixed this immediately. The food has great presentation value, while tasting delicious. Would recommend. Thank you Mati for making my birthday special

Amazing food and service!

Unfortunately not what it used to be. A seafood tower way too expensive now for whats in it and overload of patatoes with a steak to fill the plate instead of putting vegies. It used to be one of the best place in town, not anymore.

The whole experience was exceptional and the food was great. Our group of 7 shared the best seafood tower we have ever had and a 50 ounce tomahawk steak. To top it off, they gave cake since we were celebrating a couple of birthdaus. Everyone left happy and raved about the whole experience.

Very disappointed! Pre-booked and we were still asked to wait at the bar for over 20 minutes. We asked the bartender for the prices of bottles of wine. He informed us that they started at $100. We therefore ordered by the glass. We were seated at our table and discovered a bottle of wine for $65 . We spoke to the bartender and asked if our untouched drinks could be replaced with this bottle of wine. He refused and asked us to order the bottle too. As compensation he offered us a slice of cheesecake! We proceeded to order our food - a double seafood tower and two steak entrées. Almost two hours later our food arrived with no communication regarding delay or apologies! As we were eating, our waitress was quick to take away our plates twice even though we were still eating. With an establishment such as this - one of supposed calibre, a level of expectation should follow. Good service and reasonable wait times for food. We would not recommend this restaurant nor would we return!

We went here for our anniversary and we enjoyed our time. Food quality was fantastic, very friendly staff, and nice atmosphere (though maybe making it not too dark would be nice)! We ordered the seafood tower with extra lobster tail, smores brownie dessert and cappuccino. Everything was a great bite and my wife, who rarely eats tuna sashimi enjoyed the ones here. We will definitely be back!!

Cocktails to die for, amazing bites, and lovely atmosphere. Throw in excellent service, and this place is a winner, every time.

We came to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The food was great. The sangria was great but for a $15,00 glass I will expect a lot more than half the glass. We ordered the seafood tower which was very tasty. The double tower is good for one person. We ended up ordering the pasta which was nice but a little more seafood for the price would of been nice $48.00. We wish our waitress Max was more up to speed with her service. Unfortunately we had to raise our hand a few times to get her attention. You will think knowing that it was our anniversary, they will wish you Happy Anniversary here is a small token of your celebration (dessert) but our day was not acknowledge by our server. When My husband made our reservation he told the person we were there for that. You will think after spending $300 plus including tip on our dinner they will say Happy Anniversary . Sorry but there are other restaurants who will go the extra mile to make your celebration an outstanding experience. Instead on focusing an outrageous prices focus on the details or small things that a customer will much appreciate.

Came for brunch on Sunday, it was very overpriced for the food, which was heavely salty. Although, the croissants were very delicious. Service was good.

If you are looking for a stuffy, pinky s up, great food and service, with no atmosphere kind of night, don t come here. If you want to have fun, have overwhelmingly kind and attentive bartenders, have trendy music pumping, staff that actually want to be at work serving you, paired with an incredibly well thought out food/wine/cocktail menu then this is the place for you. Order the steak + crudo, have a Jimadors Cafe (you won t even know there s tequila) and enjoy a night at the bar.

Celebrated my husbands birthday there and they were very hospitable and accommodating with a birthday card and a sparkler dessert for him. They also managed to navigate my many food intolerances. Wonderfuly cozy atmosphere even with the rain outside. Parking is a bit of a scramble on Preston St so look for Ottawa parking lots. Dietary restrictions: See above

Food close to perfect nothing to complain about, host and servers are 10/10. Nice cozy place only missing a little bit more of light that should be directed to the food on the table to enjoy the food not only by mouth but esthetically too. Definitely recommend this place for tasty food addicts.

Food was okay(over priced), but service was not up to our expectation. We were expecting a relaxed dinner and have a good chat with couple of our friends that we havent seen for a long time. We intentionally select Mati and expect we would enjoy our time together. But we were disappointed. We felt the server was in such a rush and as soon as we finish last bite, the plate was taken away and you felt someone was over your shoulder all the time which was not comfortable. We end up leaving early because we felt very uncomfortable and been pushed out so they can serve the next group. It was not correlated to the price. If you are looking for a nice place to relax yourself, look for another place.

Our Sunday brunch at Mati Restaurant in Ottawa was simply fantastic! Taylor, our server, was amazing friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was divine, each dish a culinary masterpiece with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The playlist added to the vibe; we couldnt resist jamming out. Matis chic yet inviting ambiance made for a perfect Sunday brunch setting. Kudos to the team for exceeding our expectations. Cant wait to return!

The restaurant is over priced! The food just ok, not delicious at all. The service was extremely bad, I had to service myself for pass by dishes and self service to fill up water, on top of that, the waitress was hurry us to finish our dinner. Very bad experience and never come back!

Such an amazing restaurant! We got the seafood tower and the rib eye, and all I must say is EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious! Riley and Dana provided amazing service and were very friendly! Would highly recommend this restaurant! Their cocktails are so on point as well!

Mati is the location for upscale vibes and incredible food. I ordered the arancini and steak & crudo which I both highly recommend. The service was excellent and I will definitely be visiting again! Food

We cant wait to go back and try everything on the menu. The Lobster pasta was extremely good. I loved the simplicity of the steak and crudo. The chicken was very juicy and the roasted potatoes were delicious. Amazing food. We went back Nov 2023, and had the seafood tower for 2 - everything I had dreamed it would be!

I highly recommend this restaurant! We had dinner here a few days ago - it was fantastic! Great taste and fresh seasonings. We ordered burata cheese with strawberry chutney, prosciutto and balsamic reduction. For the main entree, we had roasted truffle chicken served with potatoes and carrots, as well, lobster pasta with mussels, lobster butter cream and parmesan. So delicious! We will return!

Went to celebrate after an orchestra on a Friday night. Totally ruined our evening. Had to wait an hour for the food. The couple next to us came after and were almost done eating before we got our food. The seafood pasta was cold when it arrived. We got a tomahawk steak that was overly seasoned and undercooked for medium rear. Fat wasn t rendered and cold to touch in the center. It was so chewy that we only got through half. Not worth the $200 price tag for that steak. You go to a place like this for the experience but at the end we just wanted to leave. They gave us a 25% discount. We still had to pay $300 for 4 people for an evening we just want to forget.

I have been coming here for over 4 years & have had great experiences with the food & service - never disappointed. Only thing that could be changed would be the loudness of the music - makes it somewhat difficult to enjoy the company you are with - that doesn t take away from my 5 star rating because that s an easy fix to make it the perfect restaurant - Looking forward to coming again in the near future !
