Organized a huge Xmas party, and everyone loved the food, Montenegro wine, service and the overall atmosphere. Just wanted to give thumbs up to the people who run the place. Happy holidays!

This is a gem. We came for one-day trip to Ottawa, and just discovered this place by our luck. The food is amazing, the chief and personnel are extremely welcome, despite we showed up at almost closing hour. We will definitely come back.

We were greeted with kindness from our server Matea as soon as we stepped inside the restaurant. The food was wonderful and portions were EXTREMELY generous. We ordered the Halloumi and Red peppers, Calamari and, the Carbonara; we even had the pleasure of meeting the Chef. Would highly recommend for a quiet night out and great hospitality.

Impeccable, attentive and pleasant service! The food was really good quality! We were even treated to a little gift, one of the starters that was to roll around on the floor: melted cheese platter. I recommend for all fans of Italian food! As mama would say, cooking brings people together!

To start we had the Khachapurri- cheese bread. A meal on its own and worthy of a visit just for this dish. Wonderful wood over taste. For our mains we had the Ladenia Pizza with added Bacon and the Carbonarra Double Smoked Bacon. The pizza crust was super thin and the pizza was almost delicate. Both mains were excellent although the Carbonarra was very rich and quite heavy. Service by Matteo was attentive without being intrusive. Dietary restrictions: Although our party did not have any restriction, we are aware because we often have family with us who have restriction. Many vegetarian and gluten free options available.

Me and my family were yesterday for the first time at the bistro ristoro and we were really happy we went there . The environment so friendly from the owners and the server . The service was great and the food delicious. Everything was served on time and very warm as should be served . The chef came to our table to ask us if the food was good , and the server all the time taking care of us if we need anything . Great experience and of course will be visited again the restaurant. 10 out of 10 .

Best and most authentic pizza in ottawa! Had the leek and mushroom with truffle oil and it was simply amazing.

I had the opportunity to visit the restaurant twice (in the evening and at lunchtime), I was not disappointed. At lunchtime we observed a little longer wait, but the waiter seemed very friendly even though he seemed rather a beginner and apologized for the wait. Vegetarian options: Veggie salads and pizzas

By far the best pizza Ive had in Ontario. It felt like I was in Italy again eating pizza in Florence. The owner is Macedonia and the man that makes it is from Macedonia so he was trained in Europe on how to make wood oven pizza. Highly recommend and I will definitely come again!

We have been going to this restaurant since it opened. Everything on the menu is delicious, and we have tried it all. The staff and owner welcome you every time you dine there. My husband and I strongly recommend this wonderful restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

This is a hidden gem in centre of the capital, just a few steps from usa embasy. If you wanna try real european traditional food with full flavour especialy if you are from the Balkan region, you are welcome! It s a crime this place wasn t busier on a Friday night. Some of the best food I ve ever had in Ottawa. Fresh ingredients, Neapolitan style pizza, perfect Mediterranean flavours. Prices and portions are reasonable with a small curated wine list. Truly a hidden gem in the quieter part of the market! This place will be added to my short list of favourite restaurants in Ottawa.

We came from Montreal for weekend, and we tried this place for a first time. We were amazed and very surprised that in Canada there is high quality restaurant. The food was very tasty! If you would like to try europian taste, we highly suggest to visit that place.

Stumbled upon this restaurant during my online search for a place to eat for my mothers birthday (Fri Feb 2). The fougasse-olive bread was warm and cheesy. My parents enjoyed their vegetarian pizza, and I liked the chicken marsala. We also appreciated the ambience and coziness of the place.

A good friend of ours treated us and two other couples to dinner last evening. Our friend has become friends with the owners and together they planned an amazing meal for us. We started off with a special bread that had a wrapped coin inside that brings good luck to the recipient. Two salads followed made from the freshest ingredients possible. We were then served cabbage rolls that were incredible. The main dish was lamb and potatoes roasted to perfection accompanied by hot peppers and a sauce. Went for a date night and it was incredible! The atmosphere is perfect, it is relaxing and the music playing really added to the vibe. Had an excellent experience. Brought 4 water polo teams in two sittings. Atmosphere was great. Food was amazing. Excellent evening. We went here because of the combination of different foods which allowed for a variety depending on what people wanted. I had the cheese burger which was supposed to be like a Balkan style pljeskavica...... It wasnt what I expected it was a pljeskavica, but elevated the way they did it with the melted kajmak cheese was phenomenal (Im starting to crave it as I write this review) the atmosphere was very nice with the owners coming out to chat and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back every chance I get.

The worst experience of my life! We were treated rudely and had to wait two hours for two salads that cost $36 each since a piece of chicken cost $14. We were shocked. Avoid this place!

Made reservations for Valentines Day and dinner was amazing. Menu is versatile, high quality food and prices are right for such menu. Owner is a great chef, very accommodating and this place is a one restaurant definitely worth visiting.

Possible the best pizza in the country!

Bad experience never again. From the moment weve walked in to the end. First you dont tell customers if you going to eat dont sit that is bad i mean it is a restaurant you have right. When we got there the restaurant was half full and they wore running frantically it seams to me that this place cant handle its own capacity which is only 42 seats not even half of that .If you cant handle your capacity hire more staff or close..we wore able to negotiate to at least get some food for kids and 2 salad which we waited for 1.5 hour and the excuse was we prioritize reservations and we have lot preparation well if you did not prepar during a day for rezervation then change profesion cook at home as a hobby. At the end of the day this authentic balkan food Pljeskavica is fast food where we come from and you know that you can get it almost at any place that has a grill for fracton of a price and same taste if not better. To overpriced for what you get and this mumbo jumbo we us high quality fresh ingredients so is 75% of restaurants in Ottawa i for the price of meals and overal expiriance, service and wait time way over-priced and overrated.

The restaurant is perfect: the food is all made in the open kitchen right there (that means you might need to wait for it, bit its totally worth it). The atmosphere is nice and welcoming; the service is great. Also, 5 stars for cleanliness!

I can boldly admit that I had the best meal of my life in this place and I hope to return to this restaurant one day to repeat this beautiful moment. I suggest that you definitely experience XL Cheeseburger-Plieskavitza. I proudly had picture with fantastic chef which I forgot to ask his name because I lost mine mind after eating his amazing food and special thanks to young and jentelman waiter for his suggestion.

We had plans to go somewhere else for dinner, but changed them when Bistro Ristoro was recommended. The atmosphere was lovely, and we were greeted warmly and served attentively. We had wine, a starter, and three main dishes. Everything was exceptional. We live three hours away, but will definitely return.

We only ate one pizza each, with normal beer (our choice). My wife got an Oliva, I got a Diavola. For being outside Italy, an excellent pizza: crust not too big, thin base and not too soft. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Ottawa s Byward Market. Cozy environment and friendly staff. The food is divine and will make you cry in happiness after every single bite. Highly recommend the picanha steak. It is like going to heaven and coming back. It was cooked to perfection, the sides were equally faboulous and seasonings were just indescribably good. When having the carbonara double smoked bacon, you just realize that you have never had a true cabonara in your life. It will be a game changer for your taste so from that moment on, you will only want to have such a good carbonara just exactly the one prepared by Bistro Ristoro chef!

A large group of friends enjoyed a great meal in a friendly setting that also has friendly prices. The menu is Balkan-Mediterranean and very tasty. Everyone in our group was very pleased with their meals. The servings are also very generous. They have a small but interesting and reasonably priced wine list, including some Croatian and Montenegrin wines, which were very good. I always enjoy the opportunity to try different wines and different grape varieties. I suspect we will be returning to another good meal from Vlado, his wife and team.

The food was varied and delicious. It had the feel and taste of refined home cooking, consistent with a friendly atmosphere. We were a group of 12 and were able to talk and share the experience of food from the Balkan Region. The price was certainly reasonable. I look forward to a return visit soon.

So glad I found this restaurant. The friendly and attentive server, Matthew greeted us at the door and recommended the Tarragon Chicken and the Goat Cheeze pizzas and I was thrilled with them. I will definitely be back to try other pizzas and the other mains they have on their menu.

This place is a hidden gem. Was shocked that this place isn t packed. I ve been in Ottawa for 4 years and this might be the one of the best restaurants in Ottawa, if not the best. Absolutely delicious, authentic Mediterranean food. The vibe is great. Service is great as well. Have never left any google reviews but will gladly leave one for bistro risotto!

This is definitely one of the best pizza places that I have ever been to in Ontario, and I mean it! The owner was amazing and was really passionate talking about the ingredients and how this pizza is a one of a kind that makes it one of the best. Matthew was amazing and made the experience even better. Definitely will be coming back the next time I come back to Ottawa, without any doubt!

It s a hidden gem in downtown Ottawa, and owned by an Italian couple who are very friendly. If you are carving a good wood oven pizza, this is the place! I highly recommend their carbonara, and it won t let you down.

I was visiting Ottawa and wanted to eat a good pizza. I had the Canadian with fries. The crust is excellent. However, I prefer thicker pizzas with more toppings. That said, it was good for a thin pizza, but not my favorite. As for the fries, it had parmesan cheese on it. I HATE IT. However, I called to tell them and they prepared another fries for me at no charge.

This restaurant is absolutely wonderful! It is cozy, and has so many wonderful options to choose from. Their pizza is delicious, and their veal burger is the best option on the menu. Their service is also wonderful, as they catered specifically to all of my grandmothers needs, even though she uses a wheelchair. This place is wonderful for both a family outing or a date! Best restaurant in Byward Market!

Absolutely in love with this restaurant, the amazing food (especially the pljeskavica/XL burger), warm atmosphere and the lovely people working!!! We drove from Montreal to eat here and it was completely worth it! I highly recommend!! Cannot wait to go back :)

If you want to eat well made dishes, this place is amazing! Everything that we tried was spot on. From the pizza, which is baked in brick oven, to the meat dishes that they have. Heres some dishes that Im recommending: -Veal XL burger - trust me on this one. -Chicken Marsala - perfectly grilled chicken meat with mushrooms and white source. -Pizza, just order anyone you want and you will not be disappointed. Picanha steak - we tried the medium rare and it was perfect!

After taking some time deciding where to have brunch, we got convinced by the interesting options written on their menu. We had the new tall burger and B.E.C. Ottawa . We got mesmerized by the taste of it, and had a very pleasant experience regarding the environment, the music, the way we were treated by the staff and by the chef, who came to us and made us feel very welcomed. We are definitely coming back next time and we recommend it to everyone who wants to have a great bistro experience , delicious meals and excellent service!

We had again a wonderful meal at Bistro Bistro. The Diavola pizza has to be the best pizza in town and not to mentioned the bacaleo (crispy cod) in a delicious sauce. This place is a must and price are reasonable. The service was impeccable.

Bistro Ristoro is easily one of our favourite restaurants in Ottawa. Its a wonderful local business run by the best people - we always have great conversations with Vlado and Lydia when we are there. The restaurant serves delicious, authentic Macedonian food. The last time we went there we had the piquant stuffed champignons, the pillows, the spicy sausage roll ups, and much more - everything was AMAZING! One of my favourite dishes there has to be the Halloumi and roasted red pepper appetizer - the Halloumi is the perfect consistency and tastes really great! Their pizzas and mains are also fantastic, and I highly recommend the Oliva pizza if you like olives and mushroom :) One of our favourite things about this place is the passionate and energetic team that runs it - you can tell that the owners and staff truly care about putting delicious food out for their customers! Its unfortunate that we had to move out of Ottawa and cant visit anymore, but this is going to be our go-to place every time we travel to visit the city in the future!

This is one of the best restaurants in Ottawa! The food is authentic Balkan: the flavors are amazing! The service is incredible, the owners are always there to chat give good suggestions or simply just to welcome you warmly! They have just came up with the new dish, it is Cornbread Chicken Casserole (I am attaching a photo of it here)! It is hard to describe the quality of it!!!! I highlighted recommend this place!!

Not as good as it once was. Service was rather slow and we werent looked after very. The food wasnt bad (steak was a bit over cooked but). For the price and service I wont be coming back again

Celebrated our 30th anniversary there with friends and family before a concert. Owners and staff were very receptive to our needs and worked well with us to enjoy our visit. The wine was great, the food was better. If down in the Market, we highly recommend!!

Was excited for a nice meal, but it honestly didn t live up to the hype. Both chicken and pizza were overly salty, and we were the only customers on a Friday evening. Probably won t be back.

Fantastic restaurant! I went with my family to celebrate my graduation and the dinner was delicious! The staff were extremely polite. Highly recommend if you re looking for an authentic Mediterranean meal.

What a wonderful gem of a restaurant and a must go!!! Our first time in Ottawa exploring the area and by chance found this restaurant. We LOVED it!! . We had the Pillows as an Appetizer and they were delicious! The stuffed eggplant was amazing and served in a very creative way with mascarpone and feta cheese on top! (So annoyed I didn t take a photo!). One of the best eggplant dishes we have ever had! We paired it with a bottle of Zinfandel that really complemented the dish!! And a shout out to our server who was just the best!

Wonderful service. I thought my pizza was some of best I ve ever tasted. My wife s chicken Marsala was even better.

Atmosphere is great, nice shaded patio in the summer, and very warm welcoming service! Equally great indoor and outdoor. Hands down the best place in town! Cant wait to go back

I love this place... The food is to die for... My favourites are Uviyach-Roll in Bacon and Pastrmaylia... Beautifully creative dishes, friendly staff, great setting... Unbelievably good... Probably the best place to eat in Ottawa!

Amazing place! The Carbonara is creamy, and the bacon has just the right amount of saltiness to cut through it. The marinara sauce has a little wine taste that really enhanced the flavor of the calzone. 5 out of 5!

Plieskavitza (authentic burger) is the best!!! Better than any burger I have ever tried. Finish it up with macchiato and you are in haven! because you must have it with baclava.

I visited this restaurant during vacation with my family. Was greated heartwarming by waiter and then the owner came to say hello too. The food was very good, the Macedonian burger juicy and aromatic. Kids enjoyed the freshly made pizza. Overall very pleasant food spot, I would reccomend.

We were visiting Ottawa from Toronto and decided to eat at Bistro Ristoro. First, the location is phenomenal, centrally located near Byward Market and steps away from Parliament. We sat in the outside patio and we were served quickly by the friendly staff. I ordered the Plieskavitza (traditional Macedonian veal burger) and I have to say it was the best Ive ever had, cooked to perfection and uniquely wrapped in a rustic bread. I highly recommend. My partner ordered the Margherita pizza and it too was perfectly baked. Our thanks to our waiter Mateya and the owner for the friendly service and wonderful experience we had, we will be eating here again the next time we visit Ottawa!

An absolutely hidden gem in the Byward market. Excellent service and fresh, quality food, and reasonably priced. Avoid the tourist traps all over the market and come to this place instead.

Its very easy to be indecisive about food options in Byward Market, but this was a no-brainer. The food here was absolutely delicious, and it was in a relatively quiet pocket of the area... so outdoor dining was super pleasant.

Bistro Ristoro is completely charming - delicious food, great service, I especially loved the Croatian Zinfandel and the lamb was exceptionally good. A European treasure in the heart of Ottawa! Cannot wait to return and thanks to Ottawa Lookout for the recommendation - I would not have found this gem without you!

Went with a friend yesterday evening for dinner - certainly wasnt disappointed. Halloumi was great (first time trying), and the champinones con chorizo were absolutely amazing. My main (the Veal XL Burger Plieskavitza) is one of the national dishes of Serbia; it tasted amazing and I was so full that I took the leftovers home. Note that the online menu has many more options than the in-person option. Service is quite slow, but it is one of the restaurants where they dont kick you out and want you to enjoy and savour your food. The owners and staff are extremely friendly. Will certainly be coming back here many times over.

Visiting Ottawa without a plan, we walked by and decided to try Bistro Ristoro. Our food was fresh and delicious, service was thoughtful and kind. We could see pizza dough being tossed expertly in the kitchen. Overall a welcoming experience. If in Ottawa, I would definitely come back.

Very nice little restaurant with an excellent menu, service and welcoming atmosphere. Food is made on the spot, not microwave warmed up or otherwise pre-cooked. Give yourself some time to enjoy this space, bring friends and indulge in wine and munchies, while you wait for your main course. Nice and relaxing setup. Ask for the hidden menu - some of the items may require ordering in advance. A real refresher in Bywards. Vegetarian options: Grilled eggplant. Lovely.

We had our wedding dinner at Bistro Risotto. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, to fulfill special requests, and to make our evening perfect. All of our guests absolutely loved the food! The wine was also exquisite! We could not have asked for a better venue and better hosts. 10/10 would recommend! We will definitely be back!

A true gem. Some of the best pizza I have ever had. Exceptional eastern Mediterranean wines at great prices. Cant wait to go back. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options! Leek and mushroom pizza was divine! Dietary restrictions: Lots of vegetarian options! Kid-friendliness: We brought a 3 month old and they were so pleased to meet the baby and offered us a high chair right away.

Bistro Ristoro was the perfect setting for our rehearsal dinner back in October! Vlado and his team created a special menu just for us for our lunch hour rehearsal for our wedding. The food was incredible and everyone was extremely impressed with how much care and thought went into the food. The Roast Piglet is a must for your next event - we had about 28 people and it fed everyone plenty plus lots to take home. The appetizers and sides we ordered paired nicely with the piglet - highly recommend letting Vlado and his team make the selections as they did not disappoint! They closed the restaurant just for our group and were extremely accommodating to dietary restrictions as well. We cannot recommend Bistro Ristoro enough!

Great experience! Friendly waiter, very comfortable space. Simple but really tasty food ( which is rarity in Ottawa). They use fresh and good quality ingredients. The only one thing-you should wait a bit more , but worth it. It s better to wait and eat a good meal than having heartburn after the garbage that is often fed in Ottawa restaurants. We were 5 adults and 2 kids who totally satisfied with the meal!

Pizza in this place is simply incredible. Everything else could be better, especially the service (they should learn how to handle busy times.) The non-pizza food was so-so.

Deffinitely, the best restaurant! The host was very friendly along with the staff, and the food absoulutly delicious! Havent had a better pljeskavica in a long time and if youre looking for a restaurant with Balkan flavours, this is it!
